Round 5, Match 2: Gintoki Sakata vs. Kim Dokja

Gintoki Sakata:

1. “Gintoki is introduced to us as a depressed twenty seven year old dealing with ptsd who first adopts Shinpachi after protecting him from Amanto (aliens, who have somewhat taken over earth) who were harassing him, which led to Shinpachi losing his job, and Gintoki having to help him rescue his sister Otae from the family’s debtors. Shinpachi comes to work for Gintoki as Odd Jobs, soon joined by Kagura (an amanto herself with super strength who was working as part of gang prior to Shinpachi and Gintoki helping her leave) Kagura leaves in his house and later Gintoki allows her to get a pet dog. It’s made clear that these three are a family and more than a few episodes make it clear that Kagura seems Gintoki as her earth father (her bio dad, the strongest man in the universe, goes around the galaxy fighting monsters) and Shinpachi feels a familial connection to him as well. There’s also Hashida, a baby who looks a lot like Gintoki, whom Gintoki takes care of when the custody battle over Hashida becomes an actual battle. This includes drinking together, tying the baby to his back while fighting his way to Hashida’s mom, and Hashida crying when Gintoki leaves, after promising they’ll share a drink when Hashida is older. In a similar vein is Seita, a street kid who tries to pickpocket Gintoki but gets robbed in return and ends up working for Gintoki’s landlady (Gintoki’s own adoptive mother) and being taken care of by her and the odd jobs family as a whole, before Gintoki discovers Seita’s mother is Hinowa, the Sun of Yoshiwara and its highest ranking courtesan, and fights Housen, a crime lord who fought Kagura’s father for three days and nights until they considered it a draw, and kills him, just so Seita and Hinowa can reunite. During the timeskip late in the series, we discover after seemingly defeating the Big Bad Utsuro (an immortal who formerly was Gintoki’s adoptive father and teacher Shouyou) Gintoki spent two years raising the reincarnated Shouyou as a baby, before being given his heart to prevent Utsuro’s followers from taking it. These are just the most notable examples, pretty much any character younger than Gintoki gets taken care of or helped by him in a way, including Kagura’s older brother, temporary member of Odd Jobs Pirako, and even to an extent youngest Shinsengumi member Okita Sougo. Gintoki is positioned as acting as the same adoptive parent role as his own adopters (Shouyou and his landlady Otose) are, taking on similar burdens and making, or trying to make) similar sacrifices as well. He can be really soft with kids at times, and has at least once carried Kagura and Shinpachi away from a fight on his back.”

1. “In the first scenario (where you have to murder something alive) his first priority is to make sure Gilyoung makes it out alive (by giving him the grasshopper before letting others know about it), and when the future version of Yoosung (41st round) is going to cause havoc his first plan is to basically the past (his present) version of her so they would have her on her side (he takes her in as his incarnation- if that isn’t an adoption idk what is); Biyoo is literally the soul of 41st Yoosung that he WENT THROUGH AN UNDERWORLD TRIAL to get her back and she is legally his child. Lee Jihye is more like the older sister-teenager of the group be she’s still adopted by association and Han Donghoon is a kid who was hypnotized and exploited by the ‘prophets’ and Kim Dokja saved him and became someone he trusts in- which is basically adopting. Mia is YJH’s little sister but with the family dynamic all of KimCom has she’s basically adopted too. This man is someone who believes the worst in himself but gives all these kids someone they need and in return they are the family he’s never had.”

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD (pretty vague):

Shin Yoosung was a character in the world of the apocalypse that occured (long story, won't explain here lol) and she was supposed to be destined to become a monster that would destroy Seoul and the two people other than Kim Dokja who knew this wanted to kill her when they found her to prevent her from becoming that but Kim Dokja refused to kill her and physically stood to protect her and then he later became her sponsor (uhhh it's a whole thing in-universe but basically pledged to back her and help her ig) and the stigma (a special power thing that can be gained through a sponsor) he gave her was based in him protecting everyone in their group and his love for all of them.

Both Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung are extremely attached to Kim Dokja and have on at least one canon occasion slept clinging to either side of him.

LESS MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD (though not terrible ig and still mostly vague at least):

Biyoo is. well she's Shin Yoosung actually but also not. So basically y'know that monster future Shin Yoosung was destined to become? so that monster version of her from a different timeline was sent backwards and sideways in time (idk how else to describe it jskdfs) and nearly did destroy Seoul as prophesied but Kim Dokja tried to save her—and he nearly did but then a shitty dokkaebi (they're like admin streamer people. idk would take a while to explain) did a shitty thing and forced her to be 'evil' and then she had to be killed ;-; but Kim Dokja promised to get revenge for her and after that he went and beat up the asshole dokkaebi who did that so badly that he gained a legendary Story. And then he traveled to the Underworld at risk of his own life to retrieve her soul and put that into a dokkaebi egg that he personally hatched. And she lost her memories for the most part but could still sense a bit what he'd done for her :') and so yeah she became Biyoo and is somehow both adopted and originally parented(?? idk saying biologically is. doesn't feel quite right lol) by him.”

General

Events in the series that doesn't make sense for my muse will not be acknowledged.

Events that borderline sexualizes my muse or any characters will not be acknowledged. (The GMG Pinup Idol showdown, Larcade incident, etc.)

Perversion/harassment committed against any of the characters that had been easily brushed off in canon will not be accepted here. Erza will not find sexual harassment played for laughs in the series as humorous. For instance, she won't be a passive bystander witnessing Lucy go through this.

Events from the filler arcs will not be acknowledged.

Events from the FT 100 year quest, except the power-ups, will not be acknowledged.

Characterization

In terms of her age, Erza started the series at the age of 19, and then she was 20 by the time they went to Tenrou Island. She turned 21 after the 7 year time-skip, and then 22 after the Fairy Tail Guild disbandment 1 year time-skip. She'd be 23 years old post-Alvarez war.

Erza does have feelings for Jellal, but with how emotionally repressed she is, she does not center herself on it, or on her personal life in general. Here is a detailed post about Jellal and relationships in general.

Story Arcs

During her battle against Azuma in Tenrou Island, the telepathic communication with Jellal motivating her to keep fighting did not happen. However, he was one of the loved ones that she considered as an inspiration to be brave, fueling her determination to win.

The fight with Azuma would also be the time when she finally unlocked her second origin, which would explain why she did not experience any pain during Ultear's casting of second origin release.

Like in the anime, she was not stripped naked while being held hostage in Tartaros.

Erza had gone through a lot of trainings while blindfolded. She is an adept fighter even while deprived of her sight. No, she is not unjustifiably overpowered landing hits on Kyoka. She is well-trained, has good instincts, and is fueled by her willpower to protect her guildmates. And occasionally, spite.

Erza was the one who killed Kyoka. Minerva taking her place to finish her off did not happen.

Tartaros arc was just trauma porn for Erza, and any threads centered around it should be discussed properly. I understand the grief that everyone has in the fandom during this arc. I am pretty open to adjusting to the canon divergence everyone has for their characters in regards to this.

Erza's PTSD resurfaced after the disbandment of the guild. This post detailed what happened to her during this time.

During the 1 year timeskip, with Fairy Tail being disbanded, she had worked with Crime Sorcière. This ties in with @sinshckled's portrayal. There will be a detailed post about this later. This fact is not known to people, except Gray, who she was in contact with, after enlisting him for a job to take down Avatar.

In addition, Erza would not be the type of person to ask Gray to take on this mission, encourage secrecy, and then let him abandon Juvia in the process. I do not agree with the fanon assumption that she'd send him away without any consideration to his current situation.

Erza becomes the 7th Guild Master, and after rescuing Makarov, she does not readily give up that position. They would eventually assign someone else (that's not Makarov) as a guild master. This will be dependent on my writing partner's preference.

Her battles may have been portrayed cool and smooth, but Erza struggles a lot internally. She is traumatized, but she'd sought help and learned how to cope with it.

The kiss with Kagura did not happen.

Erza had a scar from stopping Natsu and Gray's fight in the Alvarez war. She healed from it, but she unfortunately developed carpal tunnel syndrome from it.

In the final episode/chapter, Erza was portrayed as someone who couldn't understand 'big words,' but I'd diverge from that. Erza is well-read, and while she reads smut novels, she also reads books outside of that genre.

This is long, and I don't remember all the specifics. But there might be changes, and I will add more if I remember something. I am pretty open to adjusting and adhering to people's canon divergence if properly discussed.

Natsu Harem: Fairy GET! 6/14

We're edging closer to halfway there... Let's go with another imouto, eh? (๑╹ω╹๑ )

When did they meet?

I suppose this one will be... interesting. I haven't talked too much about this series diverging from canon at earlier points. But one big thing is...

Yeah, our boy Simon doesn't die in this series. (๑╹ω╹๑ ) Yeah, I get his death was a major sacrifice.... But it seems like whenever he comes up later, it's always just as drama for Jerza. Erza's repeated insistence for everyone to forgive Jellal, Kagura and Millianna's hatred towards Jellal that forcefully gets snuffed out, Ultear taking the rap even though Jellal did have autonomy.... It's dumb, and we're just not gonna brush Simon aside like that. If you're familiar with me at all, I like sparing characters from canon deaths. (๑╹ω╹๑ )

The gist is that Natsu went a little crazier in the fight, eating a chunk of the tower to gain power for Dragon Force. A situation never came up where Erza tried shielding Natsu from Altaris, and thus Simon taking the blow in her stead. Natsu just gave Blueberry a beatdown from hell, and Simon got Erza and Natsu out of the collapsing tower via teleportation.

The result? Erza's old chums decide to join Fairy Tail after all. (๑╹ω╹๑ ) There's no guilt holding them back, and Simon's all for following after Erza. And it's not like Wally, Sho, and Millianna want to go anywhere else. Simon formally joins Team Natsu, while the others get to know their other guildmates; Sho meeting Cana, Wally meeting Bisca and Alzack, and Millianna... Well, she's a little busy with Happy. (๑╹ω╹๑ )

Naturally, this shakes up the subsequent arcs. Most notably in Oracion Seis. Simon recognizes the Oracion Seis as former slaves of the Tower of Heaven, and though that doesn't make the battles easier it certainly makes them easier to sympathize with for the Alliance members after defeating them. Richard is still affected by Nirvana, and he's glad that Wally is with Fairy Tail and doing well; he hopes to reunite with his brother again someday.

We took quite a detour, but I needed to explain all that to explain Kagura's new circumstances. (๑╹ω╹๑ ) Because of course, reuniting with Simon is Kagura's greatest ambition. With him alive, there's no vengeance driving her; just a huge burning desire to see Simon again. And naturally, Simon himself has made efforts with Fairy Tail's help to track Kagura down... They just barely miss each other.

Simon pairs up with Natsu during the trials, despite the pyro's initial plans of having Happy for a partner. Simon makes this earnest plea with the Dragon Slayer because he can tell Natsu is important to Erza, and he wants to help Natsu reach his full potential as S-Class. And Natsu equally knows Simon has a desire to prove himself as well, and digs it. Happy still comes along to cheer his pal on, but he has to wait with Makarov instead of interfering with the trials.

Because of this... Simon experiences the 7-year timeskip with everyone. And due to that, when Kagura hears that her brother joined Fairy Tail, she goes to look only to find that he's disappeared, and they're waiting on the Tenrou team's return. Young Kagura is impatient, and runs off to do her own thing during those seven years; train to get stronger, and join a guild that's more... ambitious. Because the members of Fairy Tail left behind are just scraping by, and she can't stand their skepticism about her brother's fate. She'll find Simon on her own. Millianna winds up following her, feeling bad for Simon's sister and she misses Simon and Erza, too.

... Flash forward 7 years, and the Tenrou Team returns. Fairy Tail compete in the Grand Magic Games, and this is where Natsu, Erza, and everyone else meet Kagura for the first time. Under pretty different circumstances. Kagura's not seeking revenge on Jellal; she only wants to find her brother, and she's over the moon when it's announced Natsu, Erza, and various other missing members of Fairy Tail have returned on the opening day of the games.

But even so... Kagura knows that she's a part of Mermaid Heel. She can't back out on them even once she reunites with Simon that night after the first day with the game of Hidden. Kagura wants to give the games her all, and makes a wager with Simon that if Fairy Tail wins, she and Millianna will come back; and if Mermaid Heel wins, then Simon will come join Mermaid Heel's ranks (despite being an all-girls guild). When Natsu hears about the wager, he's all fired up~...

Needless to say, Fairy Tail still wins the games. And Kagura honors her word to come join Fairy Tail; Millianna was already planning to come back regardless, not wanting to be apart from her friends... And really, Kagura comes to admire Erza, especially after finding out she was the girl that saved her from the child slavers back then.

Between contact with Erza and Simon, this brings Kagura into contact with Natsu~... And though she's not wowed by him at first with how brutish and ill-mannered he can be, Kagura can tell that he's important to Erza and Simon both. And she is rather curious because Erza seems to...well. Let's just say Natsu is very, very important to Erza. (๑╹ω╹๑ )

When did they get closer?

Bearing all this in mind... Kagura fits in rather well with Team Natsu. She finds a sisterhood in Erza, Wendy, and Juvia. There's adorable kitties (Happy and Carla). Lucy is pleasant...though like Gray, she has far too many...accidents. Perverted ones. (人◕ω◕) She as such reached the conclusion those two are a shameless couple, despite their denials~...

Natsu, though... She initially wrote him off as a brute, but she can't deny he's strong. And he has so much heart... It doesn't take long for the swordswoman to get used to Natsu worrying about everyone, to see his heart on his sleeve... And it's a beautiful heart, even if Natsu can be simple at times. She can appreciate his warrior's heart, and it's all too easy to reciprocate that friendship. To share in his determination to see things through.

... Not to mention, a fledgling friendship with Natsu results in lots of cuddles with Happy and petting the kitty on her lap. (人◕ω◕)

Before long the Eclipse Spirits abd Tartaros arcs go down... Of course she's worried about Simon through these harrowing times... But she doesn't want to lose her new family, either. She's proud that Erza and Natsu and just about everyone is so dependable... It's rough when Fairy Tail disbands after Tartaros, but she sticks by Simon, Erza, Wally, Millianna, and Sho. Kagura can see Erza's worried about Natsu after he lost Igneel, and Kagura herself sympathizes with the pyro, wishing they could meet again soon...

When did friendship turn to something more?

Alvarez comes calling a year later, and it doesn't take long for Team Natsu to mobilize and rescue Makarov. Kagura's overwhelmed by how strong the rival continent is, but she's determined to protect her new family~... She doesn't fare well against Dimaria, but Kagura is instrumental in taking down Neinhart.

And later, when she hears Natsu fell into a comatose state after trying to fight Zeref... Kagura rushes back to the guild to be there for him. He's incredibly important to Erza, but especially to Kagura herself after all the time they've spent together. She's there when Jacob invades the guild, and she couldn't be more proud when Natsu makes a full recovery and defeats the assassin. And she accompanies Natsu, Lucy, Happy, Mest, and Brandish to try and negotiate with the Magic King... She unfortunately fails to stop Mest from recklessly acting, and she takes that failure pretty hard.

Kagura's there when Natsu falls comatose again, and instead of Lucy keeping his body warm Kagura takes it upon herself - for Erza's sake just as much as her own, she resolves to do everything she can to keep Natsu alive... It's embarrassing to lay with him so intimately, but Kagura can't deny the pride bubbling in her chest at keeping the pyro warm for once~.... She's worried about him, but Kagura will not let him die.

After the war blows over, and Kagura lets herself stew over all the revelations of Natsu being an Etherious and Zeref's brother... And Kagura decides it changed nothing of their bond. Natsu chose to be human, so that's what he is. Natsu never asked to be "resurrected", and he certainly wasn't responsible for Zeref's actions. Natsu means so much to so many people, and he works so hard for everyone. He beat Zeref, and he worked with the other Dragon Slayers to defeat Acnologia. Though to be honest, even if he hadn't done all those things and more, Kagura would have accepted that she fell for the pyro a while ago.

... This doesn't stop Kagura from formally asking Erza's permission to date Natsu and...share him with Erza. Much to the redhead's embarrassment. (人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕) This does begin a new kind of war, however. Because naturally, they aren't the only ones with such burning, passionate feelings for Natsu~... The Strauss Sisters are at the forefront of the rival camps... But they are hardly the only ones to worry about~...

As for Natsu himself? Well. (人◕ω◕) Kagura's important to him, too. He knows Erza and Simon love her both dearly as well. He can't say no when Kagura formally asks to be in a relationship with him and Erza... Even if he doesn't fully grasp the meaning of her request at the time... mostly because Kagura is so formal and honorable, and he only starts to see the hole he's dug for himself when Lisanna, Mira, and others get fussy about just going along with it. (人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕) Natsu might be dense, but he is a quick learner. ... Sorta.

KamuShin HCs: the Beginning

so, my 1st ever kamushin post. yea, its a crack ship considering they only interacted ONCE in the Rakuyo arc but i feel like they have the potential to be an interesting ship

funnily enough, they kinda remind me a bit of hualian. anyways, HCs!

It started out in the 2 year timeskip.

Wanting to keep in touch with shinpachi, kagura writes & sends letters to him. Out of curiosity & seeing an opportunity to tease her, Kamui steals a letter to deliver it himself

He's surprised to find the address leads to the glasses boy

They've met once back at Rakuyo & fought together in the Liberation War but he had bigger things to worry about than this plain looking human. Still, he delivers the letter but when he's about to leave, Shinpachi invites him for tea

With nothing better to do, Kamui stays

Seeing it as a way to tease Kagura about the letters as well as getting free food or refreshments, Kamui keeps coming back. at one point, he saw Shinpachi train at the dojo and they fought. of course, Kamui easily defeated Shinpachi and Kamui lost interest in him but regained it when Shinpachi got back up to fight again

Kamui beats Shinpachi every time but he finds it interesting how Shinpachi never gives up even against a much more powerful opponent. Eventually, they end up fighting & training together almost every day since then

So Kamui ends up staying on earth. Partly because he wants to know why his family loves it so he gets to know the customs & the people. Slowly, he starts to understand why his family loves earth so much even with its imperfections & physically weaker race

from there, KamuShin slowly becomes friends. They spend their days either training together or learn about earth

Shinpachi falls 1st & it twists him up on how he fell for his best friend's older brother or that his heart could race for someone other than Otsuu-chan

It felt like a betrayal

But shin is helpless to stop it, no matter how hard he tries. Even when tried to convince himself that its just admiration & gratitude for helping Shinpachi become stronger, his feelings refused to be denied. Eventually, he resigns to the fact that he's fallen for someone who only sees Shinpachi as his younger sister's plain, nagging best friend and likely a source for free food

Which may have been true initially but thats no longer the case

Either way, they still got a long ways to go before they get together and become mates

Ngl but timeskip Shinpachi looks hella hot and handsome, though he was always cute before his glow up tbh. Rip to Okita, but you look like a little boy with short hair, so I could see why Kagura could prefer Shinpachi based off looks alone.

NO CAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A POST ABOUT IT! SHINPACHI GOT SO FUCKING HANDSOME! I CAN'T GET OVER IT!

I still don't understand how Sorachi didn't make any joke about his glow up, saying he finally got pretty Shin already was but in gntm world he's really plain or can have female fans for being a bishounen 😆, but i think Sorachi doesn't perceive he creates a lot of handsome men 🤣

Don't get me wrong Okita is super handsome! But compared to timeskip Shinpachi... there's no competition man 😭

the following is both a tag drop as well as a verse explanation, which i will put under the cut.

i. 🕊: v: goddammit — i was worth something / childhood spanning from his childhood to young adulthood, stopping only when his wife, leona floros-dreyar dies. he is an s-class mage of fairy tail, somewhat withdrawn even then, but still helpful and hopeful. always happy to help out fellow guildmates and share his research. he’s just a little awkward! that’s all.

ii. 🕊: v: i don’t know what to do without you / lacrima research this is from the moment his wife dies to the moment he is excommunicated from fairy tail. he is desperately researching ways to find a way to cure his sickly son, laxus and is going everywhere for it. with his mother as a lacrima expert, it doesn’t take long for him to turn to the lucrative lacrima and how it could interact within one’s own magic. could this be it?

iii. 🕊: v: master of my own fate / pre canon leading up from his excommunication to founding raven tail and up until the summer of x784. he was feeling very bitter, very angry and the most unhinged perhaps in this time. he does calm the closer we get to x784 mainly for zilla. but. he is still unhinged and likes to play it up even more, the more his own father spreads bad rhetoric about him.

iv. 🕊: v: show them all you’re not the ordinary type / pre tenrou this is for the canon events that take place form lucy joining fairy tail all the way to tenrou. hilariously, it’s only three months of time in which he basically fucks with gajeel and makarov a bit.

v. 🕊: v: in the arms of restless anger / timeskip the 7 year timeksip was an interesting time. the more the core members of fairy tail aren’t found, the more upsetting it truly is. not only is makarov “dead” and he had nothing to do with it….but…laxus is gone.

vi. 🕊: v: in my toxic era / gmg the gmg arc. not much canon divergence, EXCEPT, for ivan’s motives. of course he was going to come and ensure humiliation and expose makarov as the pos he is! by any means necessary. unfortunate he has to battle his own son, but yknow, his nose gets broken again. and raven tail is banned from any future games. which is fine with ivan, he has some house cleaning to do.

vii. 🕊: v: the unmaker of my own catastrophe / post gmg following the grand magic games, ivan begins to clean house at raven tail. if the games aren’t going to work, then raven tail is going to become one of the better guilds of fiore, then. fine! ivan’s hand is being forced. he does this dramatically by ‘disbanding’ the guild (but certain members knows its not disbanded) and giving the council the list of very suspicious mages. is he a bit of a narc? sure. but its to get back at makaorv. this ends with fairy tail being disbanded by makarov and it only makes ivan feel even better about his choices.

viii. 🕊: v: wake from your sleep — they’re coming / alvarez invasion during the events of the alvarez invasion, raven tail had protected the towns surrounding the guild and fighting off the ships at the harbor, as they were the closest group of mages in that area. ivan was leading them all until he got zapped away by the most annoying spell in existence, universe one. 

ix. 🕊: v: the crown of love has fallen — but it still fits / post war - main the main verse, in x794 a year after the war and what it means. raven tail is a legal guild and ivan is the head and fairy tail and makarov are back. ivan can be seen glaring daggers at makarov whenever he can, but mostly. he is. attempting. to fix some bridges. mainly with laxus and his mother.

i. 🕊: v: on the grave of an old love the flowers are blooming / adoption verse plotted out with momo, a verse where kagura and simon mikazuchi get adopted by ivan. it sounds like crack, however, when the headcanons are uploaded and ready it will make sense and i will return to this blurb and update it.

ii. 🕊: v: revenge is a dish best served professional / gmg au this au is basically ‘what if raven tail didnt need to cheat’ verse. the major difference is ivan is not competing, zilla, my oc is. another difference is that raven tail is not seen cheating at all and instead use their brain and wits. unfortunately, there’s nothing we could do about kurohebi.

iii. 🕊: v: in the time of dragons / dragon search au in this Big au, the dragons are not frozen inside their children, but are somewhere else, trapped. porlyusica, in charge of natsu’s education, theorizes that natsu is from the past based on his language skills and seeks out to find this igneel the fire dragon. in this search, she seeks out help from ivan. and ivan can never say no to his mother.

As well as Astaroth & Kokushibo accidentally making an entirely new attack by combining breathing styles, too)

Relaxing & rehabilitation arc (Just Astaroth undergoing some physical therapy, Koku experimenting with his full form, & just them unwinding. So, the calmest & most peaceful arc, but Muzan is relentless with the mind reading)

Free by sunrise arc (Koku finally being freed while Astaroth is out on the battlefield with Tamayo & Yoriichi. As he's being freed, Koku is running to where they are despite Taro & Yushiro telling him not to, & is transforming as he heads there, with the blood moon in the sky as blood moons make demons way stronger no matter the rank all for one night every 10 years)

Demon queen Astaroth arc (Astaroth defeating Muzan, Koku being a demon like Tamayo, but Astaroth being a temporary demon from her plan)

Well deserved victory (Two week timeskip from the fight, Astaroth is back to human & awakes from her coma, & is now just resting from the fight)

& that's basically all I can say without spoiling everything. There's so much more I wanna explain, but you'll just have to wait & see for yourself

Quarterfinals, Match 1: Daenerys Targaryen vs. Gintoki Sakata

Gintoki Sakata:

1. “Gintoki is introduced to us as a depressed twenty seven year old dealing with ptsd who first adopts Shinpachi after protecting him from Amanto (aliens, who have somewhat taken over earth) who were harassing him, which led to Shinpachi losing his job, and Gintoki having to help him rescue his sister Otae from the family’s debtors. Shinpachi comes to work for Gintoki as Odd Jobs, soon joined by Kagura (an amanto herself with super strength who was working as part of gang prior to Shinpachi and Gintoki helping her leave) Kagura leaves in his house and later Gintoki allows her to get a pet dog. It’s made clear that these three are a family and more than a few episodes make it clear that Kagura seems Gintoki as her earth father (her bio dad, the strongest man in the universe, goes around the galaxy fighting monsters) and Shinpachi feels a familial connection to him as well. There’s also Hashida, a baby who looks a lot like Gintoki, whom Gintoki takes care of when the custody battle over Hashida becomes an actual battle. This includes drinking together, tying the baby to his back while fighting his way to Hashida’s mom, and Hashida crying when Gintoki leaves, after promising they’ll share a drink when Hashida is older. In a similar vein is Seita, a street kid who tries to pickpocket Gintoki but gets robbed in return and ends up working for Gintoki’s landlady (Gintoki’s own adoptive mother) and being taken care of by her and the odd jobs family as a whole, before Gintoki discovers Seita’s mother is Hinowa, the Sun of Yoshiwara and its highest ranking courtesan, and fights Housen, a crime lord who fought Kagura’s father for three days and nights until they considered it a draw, and kills him, just so Seita and Hinowa can reunite. During the timeskip late in the series, we discover after seemingly defeating the Big Bad Utsuro (an immortal who formerly was Gintoki’s adoptive father and teacher Shouyou) Gintoki spent two years raising the reincarnated Shouyou as a baby, before being given his heart to prevent Utsuro’s followers from taking it. These are just the most notable examples, pretty much any character younger than Gintoki gets taken care of or helped by him in a way, including Kagura’s older brother, temporary member of Odd Jobs Pirako, and even to an extent youngest Shinsengumi member Okita Sougo. Gintoki is positioned as acting as the same adoptive parent role as his own adopters (Shouyou and his landlady Otose) are, taking on similar burdens and making, or trying to make) similar sacrifices as well. He can be really soft with kids at times, and has at least once carried Kagura and Shinpachi away from a fight on his back.”

Had a gintama centered dream which is weird cuz I wasn’t really thinking about it at all recently

Anyway Kagura forms this tricycle club with Soyo and a gorilla girl they become friends with. (A literal gorilla. It was a live action for some reason) they stop in front of a conbini for a snack break and Kagura was pulling up her box of tomato pocky (yes it was tomato pocky, but kind of diy so i guess tomato flavored yanyan but it’s pocky brand) but she couldn’t find the dipping sauce and was sad about it

I guess shinpachi came out of the conbini (or not, iunno. He was in his timeskip look tho what) and asked Kagura what was wrong and she told him someone ate her pocky (little liar lol). Shinpachi actually had some pocky this morning and felt bad because he didn’t know it was hers (it wasn’t though, because he just ate regular pocky) so he apologizes and buys her a new box, and she was excited until she saw that it was the regular sweet flavor and not the tomato dip that she wanted so she punches him
