In a poll by tabloid Ilta-Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun), 53 percent of respondents said they would be willing to see Finland join Nato without Sweden.
The question comes at a time when Sweden's Nato accession lies in limbo as it is held hostage by Turkey. According to Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his country seemingly approves of Finland joining the defence alliance. However, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto (Green) has said that Finland has the "patience" to wait for such a decision.
The survey commissioned by IS and conducted by polling firm Taloustutkimus also had 28 percent of respondents saying that Finland should wait to join Nato with Sweden while 19 percent of those polled said they could not say.
Taloustutkimus research director Juho Rahkonen offered his input on the survey, noting that Finland "cannot turn back now" and that is "clear message to decision makers".
Rahkonen further noted that people in Finland have become slightly more convinced that they should not hold out for Sweden on the issue of joining Nato, compared to previous surveys.
"The Finnish opinion in this survey can be summed up in one sentence: 'Sveriges sak är inte vår' [Sweden's cause is not ours], Rahkonen emphasised, recalling a famous piece of Swedish propaganda during the Winter War — "Finland's cause is ours (siirryt toiseen palveluun)".
Ukrainian arrivals and municipalities residence
As the war in Ukraine approaches its one-year anniversary, many Ukrainian arrivals in Finland are preparing to apply for their municipality of residence.
Ostrobothnia-based Ilkka-Pohjalainen (siirryt toiseen palveluun) writes that after living in a municipality for one year, the arrivals from Ukraine will be entitled to apply for their municipality of residence.
While applying for a municipality of residence is not mandatory, it would entitle Ukrainian arrivals to benefits not seen under the status of temporary protection. In addition, it will mean that Ukrainian children must attend Finnish schools in their municipality rather than remote Ukrainian schooling, which is accepted under temporary protection status.
The Finnish Immigration Service said on Monday that more than 40,000 Ukrainians came to Finland last year after the temporary protection introduced by the EU.
IP predicted a potential logistical nightmare looming as municipalities braced for a possible influx of applications from Ukrainians.
The largest issue, according to sources interviewed, is a lack of knowing how many will apply. A Ministry of the Interior poll from last summer found that just under a third of Ukrainian arrivals planned to stay in Finland.
Finnish brand spotted at massive drug seizure
Helsingin Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun) covers a US Coast Guard vessel seizing illegal drugs worth over 30 million euros from a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Oman.
According to a press release by the US Navy, 4,000 kilograms of hashish and 512 kilograms of methamphetamines were seized from the vessel.
As part of its press release, the US Navy posted a picture of the vessel's deck showing yellow sacks and dozens — if not more — of packages depicting the red design of Finnish brand Paulig's Juhla Mokka coffee.
HS contacted Paulig over their brand's appearance at the site of the drug trafficking incident, who were already alerted by the news.
"It is unfortunate that our brand has been used for criminal activity. We don't have any more information on the matter," commented Paulig's director of communications and responsibility Kaisa Lipponen.

Tips for Smooth Relocation in Monsoon Season
Monsoon season is considered to be the worst time of year to move because the weather is always unpredictable and the roads will be slippery and slowed by delays. However, with careful planning and strategies, you can make your moving process smooth and well-organized, even in rainy seasons.
Here are a number of tips that can help you in monsoon relocation. In case you need help with relocation, contact AUC Logistics- local, national, and International Packers and Movers in Oman.
1. Selecting The Best Time In The Year To Move
It is also important to choose the date when the moving is planned during monsoon season but the weather forecast says there will be less rain.
While it is not possible to control the weather, one has to just stay very vigilant and check the weather forecast frequently as you approach the moving day. If at all possible it is also advised to ensure that you move when one would not easily notice or associate it with rain and this could be at very early morning, or late in the evening.
2. Hiring Professional Movers
Search for local, national, and International Packers and Movers in Oman, who offer their service particularly during the monsoon season. So, they would know how to cope with wet and slippery roads because they are alert every time.
Make sure that they pack your goods with a material that is waterproof and that they have covered cars that will not allow water to infiltrate your goods during transport.
3. Waterproof Packing
Among the major concerns during a monsoon in the moving process is keeping all belongings from water damage. Handy materials for this will include waterproof packing materials such as plastic wraps, ziplock bags, and waterproof containers.
Plastic sheets are to be used in covering furniture items, while fragile items are to be wrapped in bubble wraps. Electronics, documents, and other prized possessions are packed into waterproof bags or containers to keep out moisture.
4. Prepare Your New Home in Advance
Get your new house ready to welcome your belongings. Make sure there are no leaked roofs, windows, or doors. Waterlog your drainage to make sure they are correct for avoiding flooding. You can set mats or old newspapers at the entrance so that the floor would remain clean and dry when some people are getting in and out.
5. Plan for Delays
Monsoon weather could contribute to traffic congestion and delay. Plan your move with extra time taken into consideration. It would be even better if one started off early in the day to avoid rush hours and be prepared for slow times of travel.
One should keep in contact with your moving company about the status of the move. In case of any delays, one shouldn't freak out but be patient because the safety of their belongings and the people is far more important than taking an extra hour or so longer .
6. Keep Essentials Handy
Put all necessary items together in one bag, these include clothes, bathroom items, medicine and drugs, documents, identification cards, cash, credit cards, emergency items such as a first aid kit, etc. This makes sure that one will be ready in case of delay or should they wet something accidentally.
And, obviously one should be equipped, and ready with a raincoat, an umbrella or even a few towels in case of sudden rains.
7. Handle Fragile and Delicate Items with Care
The monsoon has highly concentrated humidity in the air. Due to humidity, paintings, wood items, and electronics may get damaged. For that purpose, you can place silica gel packets or moisture absorbers in the box with them so that it may keep them dry.
The other option for the electronics is to carry them in the car with you. In this way, it will stay safe and dry.
8. Check Weather Forecast
Check the weather forecast for the week of your move, and then contact local, national, and International Packers and Movers in Oman. In case of bad stormy weather, it would be wiser to schedule a different date. Though this will be inconvenient and cost you more, this option is safer and the moving will avoid bad weather that might ruin your goods and make traveling hazardous.
9. Hire Additional Labor in Case of Self Move
Moving during the monsoon might get exhausting physically as the ground is wet and slippery. Arrangements about extra help on a moving day may be considered to make the process smoothly feasible. It could be done by hiring extra movers or asking friends and family to help out.
10. Keep Your Spirits High
Lastly, a positive mindset is the most important step in terms of moving in during the monsoon season. Yes, it's for sure there is going to be heavy weather; however, being composed automatically tightens your thoughts on working your way around any complication that may arise. Remember that with proper preparation, you are able to overcome any obstacles the monsoon has in store for you.
Conclusion:
This move during the monsoon season is a bit more caring and extra cautious, but once you adopt certain strategies, you can move smoothly and conveniently. You can safeguard your goods by making early planning, using waterproof material, and being flexible; this way, transition to a new home will be pretty smooth. For all sorts of relocation, contact AUC logistics, they offer local, national, and Door to Door International Cargo Services in Oman.

Biden-Harris appeasement didn't delay Iran retaliation against Israel. Here's what really happened
New Post has been published on https://sa7ab.info/2024/08/13/biden-harris-appeasement-didnt-delay-iran-retaliation-against-israel-heres-what-really-happened/
Biden-Harris appeasement didn't delay Iran retaliation against Israel. Here's what really happened
On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 2 a.m., the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in Tehran, just a day after Fuad Shukr, the most powerful military commander of Hezbollah, was killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut, Lebanon. Shukr was wanted by the U.S. for 41 years, with a $5 million “Rewards for Justice” bounty for any information about him due to his central role in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 U.S. military personnel and wounded 128 others. Haniyeh also directed and celebrated the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in the killing of 1,200 people and over 300 days of hostage-taking of hundreds, including Americans, by Hamas.Adding to the shock, Kuwait’s Al-Jarida newspaper, citing an unnamed source in Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reported that a high-level American security delegation, brokered by Oman, secretly traveled to Tehran. Their mission was to deliver a “calming and cautionary” message to deescalate the situation and ensure the supreme leader of Iran understood that the Biden-Harris administration was “kept in the dark” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the killing of two major terrorist leaders last week. AMERICA’S RECKLESS IRAN POLICY HAS MIDDLE EAST ON BRINK OF WAR. ONLY ONE THING CAN PULL US BACK NOWThe detailed report stated that the American delegation, arriving on a private plane from Turkey, landed at Payam-e-Khorram Airport in Karaj on Thursday and held a two-hour meeting with Iranian officials before returning to Ankara. According to the same report, “the delegation presented a list containing the names of ten Mossad agents inside Iran, whom the Americans believe were involved in the assassination, directly or indirectly. This was intended as a good faith initiative in response to the Israeli state’s stunning strike, which was carried out without coordination with Washington.” It could be one of the most valuable souvenirs given to the Iranian mullahs lately.Although the U.S. State Department rejected the report on Sunday, later in the week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken admitted that to deescalate the conflict, the Biden administration had “engaged in intense diplomacy with allies and partners, communicating that message directly to Iran,” which largely confirms the Kuwaiti newspaper’s report. PUTIN’S IRAN-ISRAEL DILEMMA AMID GROWING FEARS OF REGIONAL WAR: ‘COMPLEX CONSIDERATIONS’Additionally, immediately after the reported visit by the U.S. delegation, “more than two dozen people, including senior intelligence officers, military officials, and staff workers at a military-run guesthouse in Tehran,” were arrested in response to the assassination of the Hamas leader, according to the New York Times based on reports from two Iranians familiar with the investigation.Iran delayed its retaliation attacks on Israel, a move for which some in the Biden administration claimed credit. However, on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, two major events clearly demonstrated that the supreme leader of Iran did not respect the Biden administration’s pleas for deescalation and did not appreciate the American overtures. On that day, Iran-backed militias in Iraq attacked an American Army base, injuring five U.S. troops and two contractors.Simultaneously, a high-ranking Russian delegation, led by Sergei Shoigu, the secretary of Russia’s Security Council and a senior ally of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, visited Iran. The delegation included Russia’s defense ministers and several Russian army generals, who met with Tehran’s top leaders.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThey delivered Putin’s direct message to his minion the Comrade Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordering him not to act recklessly by attacking Israel with outdated missiles as they did on April 13, an act that resulted in humiliation. Putin promised to soon deliver advanced weapons, including air defenses, to Iran.Additionally, the Islamic regime of Pakistan announced plans to provide Iran with advanced ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, in case the supreme leader decides to launch a nuclear attack on Israel. It is clear that it was not U.S. diplomacy that worked but rather Russian military and intelligence advice/orders that influenced Iran’s decisions. We are on the brink of World War III. Russia and China’s Communist Party are setting their war chessboard. Iran’s regime is likely to attack Israel with a nuclear bomb soon unless Israel, with the help of America, destroys all nuclear and missile facilities of Iran, thereby giving the Iranian people an opportunity to overthrow the weakened regime of the mullahs.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM AMIR FAKHRAVAR

Yes, I know, HRW and 'Assad's barrel booms' stories
But it's a big deal that they're reporting on this for the first time
.
.
.
Human Rights Watch wrote in July 2023 separately to the Lebanese Internal Security Forces director-general, Major General Imad Othman, and to Judge Zaher Hamadeh, the judicial investigator in charge of the case, requesting detailed information on Gaddafi’s judicial status and health, but has not received a response.
The lawyer told Human Rights Watch that Gaddafi went on a hunger strike from June to October 2023 to protest his continued arbitrary detention as well as detention conditions that resulted in him losing considerable weight and repeated hospitalization. Prison conditions in Lebanon have dangerously deteriorated since the country’s slide into a serious economic crisis in 2019. Conditions include inadequate health services, insufficient and poor quality food, and severe overcrowding that authorities blame on an increase in crime rates, slow trial proceedings, and the inability of many who have served their sentences to pay fees required for their release.
Unidentified armed men kidnapped Gaddafi in 2015 in Syria near the Lebanon border after he was reportedly misled to believe that he would be interviewed by a newspaper. Instead, the men transferred him to Lebanon, where they tortured him, demanded information on Imam Sadr’s disappearance, and demanded a ransom, the lawyer said. Gaddafi had been living in Syria with his family after fleeing Libya at the onset of the 2011 revolution that toppled his father’s regime and after some time living in Algeria and Oman.
Lebanese authorities freed Gaddafi from his captors but reportedly arrested him within days and kept him detained at the Internal Security Forces Information Branch after Judge Hamadeh issued an arrest warrant accusing him of concealing information about the disappearance of Imam Sadr. Gaddafi was formally charged 2016, apparently based on reports that he knew where Sadr had been held between 1978 and 1982. Gaddafi and his lawyer have denied this allegation.
.
.
.
Lebanese authorities have claimed that Hannibal Gaddafi provided an affidavit during his detention with information on Sadr and his aides’ alleged detention in Libya after their disappearance, but a lawyer for Gaddafi in 2022 dismissed these claims, stating that Gaddafi had been forced to sign a document under duress, without the presence of a lawyer.
Throughout Gaddafi’s imprisonment, Lebanese authorities have released little information on his judicial status and the legal basis for his ongoing detention. It remains unclear which judicial entity periodically signs off on his continued detention, and how often Gaddafi is taken before a judge.
In January 2019, then-Lebanese Justice Minister Selim Jreissati asked the head of the Judicial Inspectorate, the state body in charge of supervising the judiciary and the work of the judges, to assess whether Gaddafi’s continued detention without trial remained judicially relevant, but the results were not made public. Libyan authorities in August 2023 also questioned the legality of Gaddafi’s detention and said that Lebanese authorities should release him and allow him to return to Syria to his family, but Lebanese authorities did not respond.
(Dbeibah refused to give permission to the Libyan Justice Minister to visit Syria. Embarrassing, considering Saif managed to send his lawyer there)
Under international law, detention is subject to strict due process, in particular informing the person of the reasons for arrest; basing detention on clear domestic law; promptly taking the person before a judge and charging or releasing them; providing a judicial ruling on the legality of detention; the right to a speedy trial or release from detention; and providing regular opportunities to challenge the lawfulness of a long-term detention. Failure to respect such procedural safeguards makes a detention arbitrary. Under international law, pretrial detention should be the exception, not the rule.
Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.” Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which Lebanon ratified in 1972, specifies that “[n]o one shall be deprived of his liberty except on such grounds and in accordance with such procedure as are established by law.”
“It’s understandable that people want to know what happened to the Imam Sadr,” Salah said. “But it is unlawful to hold someone in pretrial detention for many years merely for their possible association with the person responsible for wrongdoing.”

Relations between Russia and Iran hit a rough patch
Relations between the two best friends , Iran and Russia, began to deteriorate. The reasons for this were two factors. The first is the territorial claims of the Islamic Republic to three islands in the Strait of Hormuz.
On Monday, July 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with colleagues from the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council: The Kingdom of Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Secretary General of the organization Jassim Al-Budaiwi. The parties signed a statement, one of the points of which caused indignation in Iran: in the communiqué, Russia supported the position of the UAE in relation to the islands of Abu Musa, the Greater and Lesser Tunbs, which the emirates consider illegally seized by Iran.
Two days later, the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic summoned the Russian ambassador to Tehran, Alexei Dedov, and voiced a protest. The Ministry demanded that Russia changed its position on this issue. Iranian Vice President for Legal Affairs Mohammad Dehghan said that only Tehran has rights to the islands, and this is topic is not up for discussions. Some Iranian experts even called on Tehran to reconsider relations with Moscow.
Another contentious issue between Mosco and Tehran is the delivery of Su-35 fighter jets which Iran bought from Russia.
Two years ago, during Hassan Rouhani's second presidential term, Tehran ordered 50 fighter jets from Moscow. Russia promised to fulfill the contract by 2023. However, as the commander of the Iranian Air Force, Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi, said in an interview with Iranian state television, the money was given, but there are no planes.
"As for the purchase of Su-35 fighters, we need them, but we do not know when they will be received by our squadron," he said.
Tehran needs new fighter jets to upgrade its air force fleet, which mainly consists of American aircraft that were in service before the 1979 revolution.
To speed up deliveries of the Su-35, Iran agreed last year to deliver hundreds of drones to Russia for strikes on Ukrainian cities. However, now Iranian officials do not expect Moscow to keep its word, writes the news outlet Bourse & Bazaar.
One of the interlocutors of the newspaper, a former diplomat, said that Iranian hardliners "fell into the trap", considering themselves equal partners of Russia since "Russians are lining up up to buy weapons from them." According to him, the delivery of drones contributed to the political isolation of Iran, giving Western officials the impression of deepening cooperation between Moscow and Tehran against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
Iran believes that one of the possible reasons for the delay in the delivery of the Su-35 is the influence of Israel. In June, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Russian authorities that he was extremely concerned about Moscow's growing military cooperation with Tehran, news website Axios wrote, citing Israeli MPs.
"While officials in Tehran continue to seek a partnership with Russia, it is becoming increasingly clear that Russian officials see their relationship with Iran as nothing more than a card that can be played according to their needs," BourseBazaar writes.
At the same time, Russian experts believe that disputes between countries are unlikely to bring to naught all initiatives that are beneficial to them.

UK special forces operated secretly in Nigeria – Report
The British Special Air Service and the European country’s other special forces have operated clandestinely in Nigeria and 18 other nations over the past 12 years, research has revealed. It could be recalled that in 2012, a group of SBS commandos attempted and failed to rescue a Briton and an Italian held by an Islamist group in Nigeria. The Guardian UK reported that the British SAS also operated secretly in Algeria, Estonia, France, Oman, Iraq, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Cyprus, Pakistan, Somalia, the Philippines, Russia, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen and most recently Sudan. The elite military units don’t have ministers publicly certifying their operations, thus, they operate covertly. But, based on media leaks, a research organisation called Action on Gun Violence has compiled a list of their operations from 2011, the online newspaper added in a May 23, 2023 report titled, ‘UK special forces have operated secretly in 19 countries since 2011, It gives the impression that the prime minister and defence secretary frequently send personnel of the SAS, Special Boat Service, and Special Reconnaissance Regiment on dangerous operations, usually when Britain is not at war. Special forces have been particularly active in Syria, with reports of them entering the country in 2012 to help rebel groups fighting against President Bashar al-Assad. They are also reported to have been sent in 2013 to identify military targets in advance of a bombing campaign that MPs ended up voting against. But because of the fixation with secrecy, Matt Tonroe, a member of the SAS, was officially identified as a member of the Parachute Regiment when he was murdered in Syria in 2018. It was later discovered that he had actually been killed by his US colleague’s grenade, not an improvised explosive device. Although Britain is not an official participant in the conflict, 50 members of the UK special forces were named as being present in Ukraine earlier this year in leaked Pentagon documents. The numbers for the US and France were listed as being 14 and 15, respectively. Nonetheless, their goal was left unstated. The lengthy list of deployments, according to the report’s authors, occurred despite a lack of control. Even though special forces can be deployed without the Commons’ consent and are not subject to parliamentary committee investigations, etiquette requires that MPs vote to authorise a war. After a terrorist massacre of 38 people, including 30 Britons, at a beach hotel in Tunisia in June 2015, it was once claimed that David Cameron, the country’s then-prime minister, had granted the SAS “carte blanche” to apprehend or murder Middle Eastern Islamic leaders. “The extensive deployment of Britain’s Special Forces in numerous countries over the past decade raises serious concerns about transparency and democratic oversight,” said Iain Overton, the executive director of AOAV. “The lack of parliamentary approval and retrospective reviews for these missions is deeply troubling.” Yet in March, a public investigation into claims that the SAS committed 54 summary executions in Afghanistan in 2010 and 2011—typically during night raids—began. Guys were taken away from their families and shot dead several times after being accused of producing a weapon. Following the start of violence in Sudan in April, special forces helped evacuate two dozen British diplomats and their families to an airfield north of the capital when they were in danger of being attacked. At the time, current defence secretary and Tory MP Ben Wallace commended the military effort. The operation, according to the Ministry of Defence, also included troops of the Royal Marines, the RAF, and the Parachute Regiment, although it omitted special forces. Special forces routinely take part in both exfiltrations and hostage rescues. A couple detained in the Philippines was successfully released in 2019 in a mission that UK special forces assisted in preparing and for which it trained the country’s military. In 2012, a group of SBS commandos attempted and failed to rescue a Briton and an Italian held by an Islamist group in Nigeria. The last time SAS members were referenced in the media was in 2014 when a tabloid claimed they were “on hand” to guard the safety of British athletes at the Sochi Winter Olympics. I was thinking... We already had headcanons about Fleur and her children, so could you please write something about Bill and/or Fleur's parents? I am getting very interested in the Weasley-Delacours! Thank you!
Yes of course! I’ve been thinking a lot about Fleur’s parents and how I want to tie them into Lover (Dominique’s Story)
But first we’ll do-
Bill:
Born on November 29, 1970
He was a pretty small baby, very long, and he grew very quickly
He kept Molly busy that first year, she worried constantly over him
Arthur adored his son, and tried to spend as much time as possible with him
Arthur often did the night feedings and changed his diaper anytime he could (as he did with all of his children, resulting in a lot of abuse thrown his way by family and co-workers)
He often followed around his Uncle Bilius, which is the reason why he goes after Bill (Molly and Arthur called him Liam until he was about three)
He grew up during the first war, but Molly and Arthur worked so hard to shield him from the chaos outside their home
He had been very excited about both Charlie and Percy, but by the time the twins were coming, hated being an older brother
Charlie was always his favorite brother, but Ginny is his favorite sibling
The cracks between his and Percy’s relationship started when they were children and Percy would just follow Bill everywhere (and the twins followed Percy everywhere and Ron followed the twins everywhere)
He would often run out into the garden and hide with a book
Uncle Bilius traveled a lot and would often write or tell stories about the far away places he went too
By the time Ginny was born, Bill knew he needed to get as far away as possible from the Burrow, if only for a little while
Going to Hogwarts was a big culture shock and Bill was pretty angry with his parents for shielding the war from them
He remembers when his Uncles Gideon and Fabian died, he remembers the first Oman that came and told his mum, but he doesn’t remember how they died
Molly and Arthur wanted their kids to know safety, not fear the world outside of the Burrow
And it took a very long letter from Uncle Bilius for Bill to understand this
Then the war ended
It wouldn’t be until Bill saw Harry come out of the maze crying and holding Cedric for him to realize that he once met Lily Potter and tried to block her from coming into the garden
Those eyes haunt him from the newspaper clipping that he keeps with him about the war ending
He was made prefect and later Head Boy in an attempt to keep him from sneaking out of his dorm and the castle at all hours of the night
Not Dumbledore’s best idea
Bill is responsible, but it’s more with his siblings and friends, anyone else he doesn’t really care about like that
Leaving for Egypt feels victorious, but it’s not the same as leaving to go to Hogwarts, the safety net of his family is gone and feels a crushing weight of depression
But he works through it and becomes one of the best Curse Breakers he can be
He knows he has to stay in England when the war starts up, but it’s dreadfully boring until he meets Fleur
They have a whirlwind romance, and Bill does love her, but it’s also a time of war
Living in Shell Cottage is a lot more different than living with his parents and siblings
It takes an adjustment
After the war, Bill feels hollow and stays away from the rest of the family for a while
Then Fleur gets pregnant
He doesn’t feel as happy as he should, and Fleur can tell, though she doesn’t voice it
Victoire is a perfect baby, and Bill is thankful that he doesn’t have to be at Hogwarts for the Remembrance Ceremony
When they lose Jack, he becomes less of himself, and the soulless look in his eyes becomes permanent
Dominique is a gift to them, followed so closely by Louis that Bill gets physically sick when Fleur tells him
And then Louis is so small and weak and sickly, Bill is ready for him to die and almost hoping for it if it’ll end Louis’ pain and his own
But Louis survives and gets bigger and becomes such an amazing baby
Dominique’s babyhood is often forgotten about because of Louis, and her childhood is often misremembered because of Louis’ diagnosis
Bill doesn’t know what to do with an autistic child, let alone his perfect son
And Fleur tries to get them to connect, but Bill is too stubborn too try
Victoire runs away after she graduates because Bill doesn’t approve of her boyfriend SJ, he would’ve rather seen her with Teddy
And then he’s made a grandfather before his youngest two are at Hogwarts
I’m going to cut it off right there because that is a lot and there is so much more I can goi to on another post later (or possibly a story!)
Apolline & Jacques Delacour:
She met Jacques when she was thirteen and he was fourteen at Beauxbatons
She knew that people were vying for her beauty already, but he just always tried to make her laugh
It wasn’t for another two years that they started dating, very friends to lovers
Apolline became a maid after graduating, she was always very handy with cleaning spells and she eventually went on to own the company she started at
It was a beautiful wedding, springtime in Paris, very romantic and intimate
Jacques went to work at one of the many Wizarding banks in Paris, he was always very good with money
They had Fleur within a year of getting married, which they waited to do, at least until they got their careers going
Apolline was ready to be a mother, and Fleur was very well behaved, so she went everywhere with her
Jacques was a very understanding and kind person, so he was a very good man to his girls
They had always wanted another baby, but they are also very ambitious people, which is why the age gap between Fleur and Gabrielle is so big (9 years)
The girls were raised to believe in family first and to watch over each other, it keeps them very close
They were very proud of Fleur for becoming a Triwizard Champion, they knew how smart and capable she was
They had been surprised when she decided to move to London for a year, but Jacques pulled some strings to get her a job at Gringotts
They didn’t quite know what to think of Bill when they met him, he was everything they didn’t want for their daughter
(But Bill knows how to win over unsure parents)
Jacques offered them a house in France when Fleur wrote to them that she was pregnant
Apolline went and spent the whole summer with them after Victoire was born
Jacques had been so honored that they wanted to name their son after him, and hearing about his lost made the whole family depressed
They started taking Victoire in for the summers the summer Louis was born, knowing that Bill and Fleur thought the distance would be easier for Victoire if Louis died
Victoire loves her summers with her grandparents and starts to bring along Dominique and Louis when their a little older
When she’s sixteen though, she goes by herself and meets SJ, who Apolline and Jacques adore
He’s the perfect boy for their oldest grandson
They are so happy when they meet their great-grandson Arcturus, he is the perfect little boy
Apolline and Jacques are wonderful grandparents that Victoire, Dominique, and Louis take advantage of
When the three of them (and later two, Dominique and Louis) can’t be at home, they jump on the train to Paris
Jacques starts to decline when Dominique is sixteen, and she takes to writing to him more and more
She tells him about the baby, and how scared she is, and how she’s not ready to be a mother
Jacques offers kind words and love and understanding
Which is why it breaks Dominique when he passes away
She has no control over her son’s name, she doesn’t want to hold him or touch him even when he’s outside of her body
She would’ve named him Jacques though
Apolline is still an escape for Dominique, but she passes before she can see Dominique get married or have another baby
Dominique is the one that remembers them most and thinks about them the most often
Thanks, now I’m crying 😭
I will write more about this family eventually, Lover (Dominique’s Story) is still very much on my mind even now, I just have another project I want to finish first.
