ALL-STAR SQUADRON #54-55 FEBRUARY - MARCH 1986 BY ROY THOMAS, DANN THOMAS, GARDNER FOX, MIKE CLARK, ARVELL JONES, TIM BURGARD, ALFREDO ALCALA, VINCE COLLETTA AND CARL GAFFORD
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS (FROM DC DATABASE)
Red skies continue to appear over 1942 Earth-Two as the All-Stars conclude their battle with the Monster Society of Evil. Meanwhile, in 1985, Harbinger sends Firebrand and a group of heroes from Earth's past to Cape Canaveral in an attempt to prevent a group on Native Americans from stealing a space shuttle.

Together with another group of heroes from the past, Firebrand battles the Ultra-Humanite Although they fail in their attempt to keep him from stealing a space shuttle, a NASA technician, Terri Rothstein, Firebrand's goddaughter, manages to enter a navigation code that she claims will send the spacecraft straight into the sun.

REVIEW
Having Jay Garrick figuring out there were parallel earths in 1942 is a sign that at the moment this was written, the DCU history was gone.
And it kind of was. At the months these issues came out, the Multiverse was already dead (but the Crisis wasn’t over).
I suppose I can allow all the simple dialogues, just to give a proper goodbye to all of these characters. But if you are looking for a Crisis-related story... this one tends to go astray a lot.
It is also confusing when some fights happen in the forties, other in the eighties, and technically, all the eras are co-existing in 1985.
I give these issues a score of 4
