Josie furrowed her brows. "Have you told them that you feel excluded?" she questioned softly. She didn't know much about what it was like to be in a relationship with more than one person. However one thing that she had learned from the Winter-Dunfords was communication was a big thing.

They gave a small smile at the comforting gesture. Guess they weren't as quick to hide things as they had hoped. Esther sighed at the question. "I don't know," they answered honestly. "They never tell me what's going on with them." Like they didn't trust them, or felt like they couldn't handle it.

Josie gave their hand a Gentle squeeze. Josie shook her head "no....I find it quite interesting to be honest..." She explained "It breaks my heart on the days he struggles but it's part of who he is." She paused hoping they would understand "I didn't know him much before the incident..." She had seen him in the halls at school but was just too shy to say hello to him "so I guess the only Gabe I really know is the one I'm with right now" she sighed softly "I just....if he can love and accept me for the mess that I am, then the least I can do is the same for him..." She smiled Softly "Chris and Lachlan are the Main reason I even made it to the end of highschool..."

They stared down at the hand for a long moment before hesitantly reaching out to take it. The care he needs. Right. Because all she could do wasn't enough. "It doesn't....bother you? That he keeps insisting he's dead?" Esther gave a shrug. "I sorta remember him my senior year, but never actually talked with the dude."

Josie reached out to Esther not touching them but giving her the opportunity to hold her hand if she wanted to. "If G and I make it out of this alive....I could see myself eventually having a family with him..." She said softly. "But I want him to get the care he needs first..." That would be her top priority. Josie nodded "Yeah, Em's great they all are. I've known Chris the longest...he's the principle here so he had to put up with my bullshit in high school...."

Oh right, she vaguely remembered something like that being talked about at work. Never realized the baby was coming from Josie of all people. "You never feel ready," they said quietly, feeling a small pang in their chest. The craving for the pills at home spiked. "But uh, that's incredibly kind of you to do that for them. Don't really know the others but Em's nice. She more than deserves it."

"Its nice" Josie she sighed before she furrowed her brows at Esther noticing the discomfort "we don't have to keep talking about this if you don't want to" she carefully reached out to them. She didn't want to pry and she wasn't going to. "How are your partners? everything okay with them?" she was hoping the subject change would help.

Esther nodded slowly. "I...can imagine." Though it wasn't the same, the way they felt after the....herbs took effect was rough. It was hard to get out of bed most days, let alone eat or leave the house. They cleared their throat, adjusting in a way that they hoped didn't show their sudden discomfort. "So, is it? Nice? Being back outside?"

"oh god, yeah!....I slapped my baby daddy right In front of him" and a few other people in town. "G and I hadn't even- I mean we Waited-" she felt her cheeks flush and she looked down "I am 1000% sure it's not Gabes and so is he"

Josie sighed and shook her head at the question "no" she said simply. A sadness slipped through "I wish it was though...."

Not really knowing what to say, all Esther did was nod. They weren't used to people....forgiving her. "Is...is it his?" They inclined their head towards Josie's stomach.

"Or a geyser with acid water for that matter!" it really was getting weirder and weirder. She just hoped she could keep away from all the chaos to make it out of here alive. "He has his band mates so I'm sure he wanted to see them. I don't want to think me tagging along had much to do with it." She shrugged. "I think also being out of commission for 2 months after giving Birth was rough too so being outside it nice..."

"A year ago I'd have laughed at the idea of a hurricane, but we also never had earthquakes so fucking who knows." Esther looked over to Josie again, tilting their head. "Gabe wanted to come?" All these years, they still despised events like this, but did their baby brother actually enjoy them?

Josie smiled softly then if faulted at their question "when Gabe first told me about what happened...what you did I-" she paused for a moment "I did hate you...." She said simply before shaking her head "But that's not fair to you, or to Gabe...you're his sister" she looked down at her hands "I've spent so much of my life being bitter and I don't want to be. Especially not towards someone I barely know." Looking back at her "I really love Gabe...more than I thought I could love someone the last thing I want is to come between you two...he needs people who care about and love him..."

Esther looked down at their shoes, unsure of what to say. It...really meant a lot to Gabe? A fresh wave of guilt crashed into them. Maybe they should have let him in a lot sooner. "Um. Thanks." She bit her lip and took the items, looking back at Josie. "Why don't you hate me?"

"well..." Josie began "To Gabe that was a big deal and it meant a lot to him. Even if you feel like you just 'broke down'." She explained "you're G's family and if you two are on the mend....then I can extend that offer as well. I know I haven't been the nicest person....to a lot of people but I'm trying to change that....I want you to know if you ever need a place to go my door is always open" she offered before placing the order that Esther wanted. "Here you go" she handed them the pretzel and wine.

Ah, so that explained the look in her eyes. Who in this town didn't have sibling trauma? "Don't give me any credit. All I did was break down and finally let Gabe in. I'm still the fucked up lonely nobody." Despite their words their town didn't hold too much bitterness, like she was simply stating facts. "Uh, sure. I'll take a wine too. Can share it with my partner."

"I'm going to guess a whirlpool vortex or maybe a hurricane" she shrugged bringing the cigarette to her lips. Breathing in before blowing away from them both. "If it was up to me, I wouldn't be here at all but I can only keep G and his Cat entertained for so long." She snorted.

They frowned at the lake, inclining their head. "I'm thinking lake monster. It's hard enough letting Joei play in it." Esther glanced over at Josie. It actually surprised them to find out she smoked. Made her less...overwhelming, somehow. A comfort to know even Josie had a flaw or two. "What do you think?"

"good" she smiled softly. She knew how much G had missed his sister and even though she didn't know the ins and outs of it all she was happy they were on the road to being siblings again. Josie shrugged "Rarely, I mostly call him G." She explained. "I actually have a question..." She said a little nervously "what made you let him in? Why did you Change your mind" she wondered if Whatever caused them to disown G she could get past maybe Josie could get past Ben leaving her.

Josie could tell they were a little confused but she smiled softly "I'm...Josie. Gabe's Girlfriend?" She explained softly. "You got that from that cart righ, did you want anything else while we're over there?" She questioned. Wanting to fill the air as they walked she sighed softly "So, uh.....Gabe told me you talked. I know that was probably hard for both of you..." She said softly "It meant a lot to him though..." Now thinking back on it she had been so cruel to her own brother.
