Since the Thousand Sons are inspired by the Ancient Egyptians, wouldn't their Primach, Magnus, also have multiple wives, since the pharaohs also did?

Again apologies for the incoming history lore dump but I’ve got to get my moneys worth from my undergrad.

Ancient Egypt covers thousands of years of history - it was an ancient empire when Rome was young, and old enough for there to be ancient Egyptian archaeologists studying even more ancient Egypt. Cleopatra is closer to us than the pyramids timeline wise. All that to say that sweeping statements about Egypt always come with the caveat that it was around for A LONG ASS TIME and therefore morals and behaviours changed as it went on and anything I say isn’t applicable to all of the kingdoms.

having said that: yes pharaohs had multiple wives. They lived in the harem, which was way more than just a collection of consorts for the pharaohs sexual pleasure - the harem was a deeply political institution, where women schemed and plotted and sometimes even murdered to ensure that their son got onto the throne. Women in ancient Egypt had more political power than you might think - they were ofc subject to their husband or son, but it was considered perfectly normal for a woman to rule as regent while her kid matured and sometimes after.

So yes, if Magnus is acting like a pharaoh and if prospero was ancient Egypt (I really don’t know enough about the lore to say if it is or not) he wouldn’t just have multiple wives from the tribes he had conquered or allied with; he would have a harem of women, some of whom served as advisors; others just as mistresses. His sexual prowess would be an important part of his image - because what use is a pharaoh that can’t maintain his harem? In ancient Egypt that ofc meant lots of children, but in 40k it could manifest differently

also just realising that Magnus and leman really are perfectly opposite. Ancient Egypt was a prosperous society governed by the predictable fertile tides of the Nile crescent and thus could maintain a culture unchanged for centuries. Viking era Scandinavia on the other hand was a hard and brutal land, forcing migration and change. Not sure if it’s reflected in canon - again, not read the books - but if they were acting true to their respective cultural influences, Magnus would probably think leman is a strange, changeable creature and leman would see him as an uptight bastard stuck in his ritual and tradition.

LOOOVE the new look. SO fucking happy with this decision. I'm also delighted once again that Anduin and I are still within the same age range like back in MoP, it's really fun having a character that I adore that's literally the same age as me, I've been growing up with this character and I love it. Anyone saying he looks like he's too fucking old is wrong, I've literally met 25 y/o guys in my college classes that look just like that. It's good. They did good with him. I'm so fucking excited. Any other animal hybrids in your lore?

not really. I just really enjoy designing cat people in any universe (I've got khajiit ocs in skyrim, cathar in swtor, a couple tabaxi in various d&d campaigns, etc) so I needed some for my ts4 world lol. the cat people aren't even actual hybrids in my lore, they're literally just a sapient species of cat that evolved into an evolutionary niche normally occupied by hominids in the same way hyenas evolved into one normally occupied by canids.

there are satyrs though, if that counts. I may very well make other animal-related addons, especially in relation to the digitigrade legs, but that's going to lean more into the fae side of things than what the cat people have going on. they're just kinda their own thing.

I kind of lean into the chaos inherent to playing the sims with all packs + some really excellent mods so my world is an ungodly casserole of scifi and fantasy and cyberpunk and whatever the hell's going on in strangerville (which isn't really what the ts4 devs intended to be going on in strangerville because the grocery-store-brand-stranger-things angle was the least interesting direction they could have gone with it). star wars aliens just kind of exist and nobody questions it. magical creatures are walking around. sometimes people are cyborgs. it's a fun time.

So, by the way, does anyone have sources for really solid historical documentation on traditional outfits from the SWANA region, especially before colonialism happened, and very preferably from first hand fashion researchers? I'm trying to build myself a small collection to understand what the hell I'm doing when I'll attempt redesigning OoT gerudos a little (keeping some elements but making them les… Like This), but a lot of what I find is from european scholars. If you have any book or series or text or anything that you think might be a staple of that particular subject, I'm super interested!

Clemcy’s Greater Thrall

Level: 7th

Components: A person, object, or place that holds sentimental value to the target. 

Casting time: 1 hour -- Range: Touch -- Duration: 30 days

Can be cast at higher levels

You influence the soul of a sapient creature. This spell does not affect creatures who have no soul or who are immune to the charmed condition. When the spell ends, the creature knows it was charmed by you.

If the creature is alive, it must make a Wisdom saving throw, and does so with advantage if you or your companions are fighting it or if it has been restrained against its will.

If it fails the saving throw, it is charmed by you until the spell ends. The charmed creature regards you as a dearly cherished family member and prioritizes your well-being over its own. The creature will accept or excuse any of your own actions towards other people, even if they run counter to the creature's own alignment. The creature will be inclined to forgive mistreatment or harm that it receives from you, but only to a certain extent; the spell will not end, but the creature may become confused, distraught, uncooperative, or resentful. The creature is inclined to trust your orders, but retains its own judgement; it may act counter to your wishes or commands to preserve its own life, or if it believes that it is acting in your best interests.

This spell ends early if you devote 10 minutes to dismissing it. It can also be ended through the greater restoration or wish spells.

This spell is taxing on the soul, and following its removal it cannot be cast again on the same creature for 30 days

If the creature is dead during the casting time of this spell, the creature automatically fails the saving throw. The creature must then be revived, resurrected, or reincarnated within 12 hours or the effects of this spell are canceled. Casting this spell on a dead creature may draw the attention of any gods or extraplanar beings with an interest in that soul.

When you cast this spell on a living creature using a spell slot of 8th level, the duration is 1 year; the creature repeats its Wisdom saving throw once every new moon (~1/month). When you cast this spell on a living creature using a spell slot of 9th level, the spell lasts indefinitely until it is ended by one of the spells mentioned above; the creature repeats its saving throw once every equinox (2/year). When you cast this spell at 9th level on a dead creature, the creature receives no saving throws; the spell can be ended only by your choice or by outside intervention.
