1. since 2021 or so!

2. i got alpha sapphire as a birthday gift and started really liking archie. over time i started to like maxie more, and on art hunts online i found ship art of the two, and its been downhill (/pos) ever since. i'm back to liking archie more now though LOL

3. i have! i think some people might know me from writing "alpha" on ao3 .. and if you do, i am so sorry to break the news that that fic will never get updated (´ε ｀　)

4. i prefer their newer ones, but i think there's enough of a difference between their rse and oras portrayals, both character wise and design wise that they could even constitute as their own separate characters.

5. OUGHHH. my backstory for them is a whole amalgamation of fics ive read over the years, but I like to think they were both on the hoenn branch of team rocket and met that way. then as the years went on and their ideologies shifted, they grew apart and became enemies.

6. when i write, it's usually through a timeskip, so i typically have them in their late 40s. i see them as early/mid 30s in oras.

7. honestly, no. i don't think their teams fit. my thoughts on maxies team are a little less concrete, but this is what ive settled with for now.

i like to think archie also has a swampert and an azumarill, as well as a surskit he hasn't officially caught, but sticks around nonetheless, as a reference to the manga.

maxies, like i said, im a little less certain on, but that's just because i haven't written him in a long time and don't have a team ive fully settled on outside of his canon one!

8. tbh.. no. but i think that's mostly because i don't "thirst" for either of them, so to speak. i think i would rather archie be my dad than anything.

Food for thought

Harley edition

I’m basically writing my thoughts as I think them, so if this is messy, tough shit. I’m talking about age and years here, but it depends on the source, so keep that in mind. I’m thinking about Harley’s reaction to Joker killing Jason, and if anything I say is canonically inaccurate, please let me know.

Let’s begin.

To my knowledge, we never even see Harley acknowledge Jason’s death. Harley was first created in 1992, with her first comic appearance in 1993. Jason was originally killed in 1988, so she wasn’t around at that point. I do wonder, though—when did she find out, and how did she react? (I know in some versions she was present, but nah, I pick and choose my canon like a goddamn pick-and-mix, and originally, she wasn’t there.)

Now, Joker and Harley’s age gap changes from story to story, but it’s usually somewhere between 10 to 20 years, with Harley being the younger one. Again, I pick my canon however the fuck I see fit, but originally, it was about 15 to 20 years, so we’re gonna stick with that. That puts Harley in her early to mid-20s and Joker in his late 30s to early 40s.

With this in mind, I don’t think Harley would have been around when Jason died. Joker was likely in his late 20s or early 30s when he started his career. Dick was Robin for about 6 to 10 years—let’s say 8—and Jason was Robin for around 2 to 3 years—let’s say 2. That means Jason’s death possibly happened just before Joker and Harley got together. Maybe at that point, Harley was already obsessed with him but hadn’t actually joined him yet.

So, in my cherry-picking mind, Harley and Jason never crossed paths before his resurrection, which brings me back to my two main questions:

1. How did she react when she found out?

2. When did she find out?

I imagine they met before Joker was locked up for killing Jason—by that point, Harley had already quit being a psychiatrist to pursue him. Maybe she even knew about it beforehand and still fell for him, or more accurately, was groomed by him (which I really hope I don’t have to argue).

Either way, I see two possibilities:

• If she knew before meeting Jason: She wouldn’t really think about it until she was confronted by a very much alive Jason. What’s wild to me is that Jason is actually closer to Harley’s age than Joker’s. Deep down, Harley likes Batman and Robin to a degree—she acts like she wants them dead and would kill them if Joker asked, but she enjoys the game and knows they’re good people. If she ever wanted to leave Joker (not that she would ask for help), she probably knows Batman and Robin would be the ones to help her, if she wasn’t a wanted criminal. She wouldn’t fully realize those feelings until after she left Joker and started working with the Bat-Family (which, by the way, I have mixed feelings about—my opinion changes day to day).

Her and Jason would probably have largely positive interactions once he let his guard down, but that would take a long time. I think they’d bond over wanting Joker dead, but they wouldn’t be allowed to work together because they’d just feed off each other’s violent tendencies. They’d probably spiral into a murder spree if left alone too long.

• If she didn’t know Joker had killed Jason until later: The reaction would be similar. She already had some level of respect for Batman and Robin, but when she found out, she was probably already on the verge of leaving Joker. Maybe that was the final straw—he murdered a 15- or 16-year-old kid. Sure, she knew kids probably died during their crime sprees, but Joker had never directly killed one before (to her knowledge). Maybe that was the moment everything clicked for her—years of manipulation and most likely dissociation beginning to crumble.

Harley is chaos personified. She lives for drama, good or bad, but that doesn’t mean she wants to kill kids. Joker did. He wasn’t just chaos—he was evil disguised as chaos. And maybe that’s when she finally left, going off on her own until she eventually merged with the Bat-Family.

Obviously, that wasn’t the only reason she left Joker, but it could have been a contributing factor. I know Harley isn’t a good person, but I don’t think she’s completely evil either.

"What's this asshole's name?"

"Elijah." You winced, saying his name aloud for the first time.

Using his name felt like a confirmation of something tangible attached to your bruises and nightmares; you were screaming his existence into a hole, wishing you could bury it.

You almost felt as though he didn’t deserve a name, as if it unjustly humanised him. It made you think of his mother, although you didn’t know her, looking down to her newborn child and bestowing him with a name. Was he the same boy she had cradled in her arms? Nursed into this world? Did his name give him personhood, a persona to grow into like a suit that was two sizes too big?

"You know which apartment it is?" Joel asked, turning the ignition off.

"First left on the ground floor. I won't be long."

"Remember, sweetheart, m'right here. You holler if you need me."

You braved a smile in Joel's direction, tugging at the sleeves of his borrowed sweatshirt. You stepped onto the street you had so desperately needed to escape earlier this morning.

The sky brimmed with darkening shades of grey, and thunder rolled in the distance. It was a welcome dichotomy to the earlier sunrise; the bleakness almost energized you, the threat of a downpour resonating with your own current temperament.

Approaching the front door, you pulled your shoulders back and lifted your chin, sucking in a breath as you pressed the buzzer. The door clicked open without any questioning. Idiots.

You weren't exactly harboring a Kill Bill-esque revenge fantasy, you simply told yourself you were returning under the pretense of needing to retrieve your boots. With any luck, Elijah wouldn't even still be at the apartment.

Your time spent with Joel had helped stabilise you back to the present. After your bath, he'd let you borrow a sweatshirt and some sweatpants, as well as help you squeeze into Sarah's one-size-too-small trainers. Joel was a calming presence. You were so grateful that just being next to him seemed to ground you. You knew that you wouldn't have been able to make it back to this fucking apartment without knowing he was waiting for you only a few feet away. There was an edge to Joel you could never quite put your finger on. A haze that darkened his features every now and then; blink and you’d miss it. You thought that in anybody else this would scare you, an almost feral unpredictability, but with Joel, it somehow made you feel even safer.

"Oh, hey!" Mark greeted you as he stepped out of his apartment. "I'm just heading out, but Elijah is still asleep. Let yourself in!"

"Is Daisy still here?"

"No, she left an hour or so ago. I'm sorry, I really have to run!"

Leaving his apartment door wide open, Mark rushed out checking his watch and cursing under his breath. You stood staring in for a few moments. In and out. In and out. You repeated to yourself.

Empty plastic cups and glass bottles littered the surfaces in the lounge, remnants of white powder still visible on the countertop.

It was hauntingly silent as you walked down the hall. With a breath, you creaked the bedroom door open. Your boots were in the same place you'd left them, kicked off between the door and the bed. Elijah faced away from you, softly snoring with the duvet half wriggled off his body. He was shirtless, with his trousers mangled around his ankles.

There were small drops of blood dotted on the bedsheets and pillow, causing you to bring a hand to your bottom lip. Your fingers began to tremble. In and out, in and out.

He looked peaceful.

Why did he get to sleep uninterrupted by flashbacks? Why was Elijah not tossing and turning, screaming out in his sleep, unable to separate the past and the present? The calm rising and falling of his chest felt like a knife in the back. You felt your heartbeat rising rapidly. You knelt down to pick up your boots, instinctively launching one heel-first at his resting head.

"What the fuck?!" He scrambled in the sheets, bringing a hand to the back of his head to check for blood. There was none. He was just fine.

You closed the gap between you both, gripping the longer part of your boot to bring down the flat but heavy heel onto any part of his body you could make contact with.

Elijah tried to block the impact, but you were being powered entirely by a rage that had grown so deep inside of you, you didn’t know where it began and you ended.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" He cried.

"You hurt me. You fucking hurt me. You. Hurt. Me. And if I have to relive it each night, so should you."

Years of holding it in until you couldn’t breathe and bleeding from biting your tongue came bubbling to the surface. You were screaming now. Spit flew from your mouth with each word you spat at him. With every hit, you screamed.

"Stop! Stop it, you’re fucking crazy!”

This time, you spat directly at him. You stood back and caught your breath, chest heaving.

“By the way, that’s what a decent person does. They stop when somebody tells them to stop.”

Not wanting to spend any more time looking at his pathetic cowering frame, you snatched your other boot and left.

"You done what you needed to do, sugar?" Joel asked, tightening his grip on the steering wheel despite the engine being still switched off.

You pulled your seatbelt on, still trying to catch up with your heart rate.

"I got my boots back. Wasted more energy on him than he's worth."

"Good, that's good, honey. I'm real proud of you. Just stay in the truck f'me."

"What? Joel, where are you going?"

He stalked around to the back of the truck, swinging the doors of the trunk open. You watched him in the rearview mirror, he took a moment to search for something that you couldn't quite make out before slamming the doors shut.

"Won't take long." He shouted back to you, walking towards the apartment you had just exited.

Was that? Surely not... He was swinging a fucking hammer beside him.

Joel barged his shoulder into the apartment door, which swung open on impact, before disappearing into the building.

Joel didn't often let this side of him take control. Over the years, he had learned how to deal with the burning vision of red that overcame him when somebody wronged the people he loved. Before Sarah, it had always landed him beside Tommy in jail rather than on the other side of the metal bars. But when Sarah was born he knew it was time to grow the hell up and take control of the white-hot rage, rather than let it control him. Sometimes he would feel his grasp on it loosen, usually when Sarah got slide-tackled during soccer, or a distant relative of his ogled you from across the kitchen at a family barbecue.

In those moments, Joel could easily reason with himself that his seething anger was somewhat unjustified. He would take a couple of deep breaths, squeeze his fists around something until they turned white, and return to normal.

However, right now, he was entirely justified.

As soon as you had told him you wanted to go back, he knew he had to contain his need to go in and kill the motherfucker who had hurt you. He knew you were completely and utterly capable of tying your own loose ends and looking after yourself. You were the strongest, most resilient damn woman he'd ever known. It was important that you did everything you needed to do to heal without him making the situation about himself by going in all-guns-blazing. But he also knew that as soon as you had done your bit, he wouldn't forgive himself if he just sat there idly.

He had thought long and hard about what he would do to a man who could bring themselves to hurt you.

"Elijah?" He called through the apartment, kicking down every closed door he passed.

On the third go, Joel found Elijah scrambling to put his clothes on, blood dripping and bruises forming on various parts of his scrawny torso. Joel smiled to himself. That's my girl, he thought.

"Who the hell are you?" Elijah's lip wobbled. His eyes flicked back and forth from the hammer in Joel's grip to the black of his eyes.

"Sit the hell down," Joel ordered, pulling out the chair tucked into a desk beside him.

"I ain't doing shit you tell me, man."

Joel chuckled, connecting his fist with Elijah's nose.

"I said, sit the fuck down." He grabbed a fistful of Elijah's hair, throwing him down onto the wooden chair with a crack.

He kept his grip on Elijah's hair and brought the head of the hammer to press painfully on his balls.

"You like hurtin' women, huh? Make you feel like a man?"

"I don't know what the fuck she told you, but she's a liar."

"See, from where I'm standing, pretty fuckin' ballsy of you to be lyin' to me right now." He pressed the hammer down harder. Elijah sucked a breath in through his nose deeply and squeezed his eyes closed.

"Uh-uh-uh. You keep your eyes on me."

Joel took his hand from Elijah's hair and grabbed his wrist, throwing his hand flat on the table. He brought the hammer down on the back of his palm. Elijah screamed, his face contorting with the pain of his shattered knuckles.

"Tell me her name," Joel demanded.

No response. Joel brought the hammer down onto Elijah's thumb.

"I said, tell me her fucking NAME."

Elijah cried out a strangled response, "I don't fucking know, okay! I don't know, I don't know!"

His sobs were pathetic. Snot was dripping down his face and into his mouth, he was choking on his own tears.

"You don't know? You tried to rape her, but you don't even know her fuckin' name?"

Joel took a step back, running his hand over his beard before connecting the hammer with Elijah's right kneecap. Joel placed his hand hastily over Elijah's mouth, muffling his loudening screams. In this position, Joel locked eyes with the quivering remnants of the boy in front of him.

"You don't even fuckin' deserve t'know her name. You go near her again, you breathe in her direction, she passes you on the street even, she will tell me, and I will hunt you down. Make this little encounter seem like a trip to fuckin' Disneyworld. Understand me?”

“Yes, I understand.” Elijah cried.

“Say, yes I understand sir.” Joel demanded, finishing off his wrist with the hammer.

Another scream. “Yes, sir.” He sobbed.

The drive back to Joel's place was silent. You didn't need to ask what had happened. Even you had heard the screams coming from inside of the apartment; you only hoped the neighbors hadn't been home.

It should’ve scared you, he should’ve terrified you. But you had never felt more safe. You felt protected.

As he pulled into his drive and switched off the ignition, you both sat motionless.

"Sweetheart... I hope I haven't upset you." He spoke softly.

Your turned to face him.

"That couldn't be further from the truth."

"I really didn't wanna take anythin' away from you. M'so proud of you for handlin' him yourself. I just couldn't sit by without doing anything."

Oh, god. This was it. You knew what was coming and you couldn’t stop the words from tumbling out.

"Joel, I'm in love with you."

His eyes grew wide and you felt your heart tumble into your stomach. After everything you had been through in the past twelve hours, you couldn't fathom spending another four years pretending you didn't feel something that you had since you first set eyes on Joel.

You had been through so much in your life. You had received nothing from the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally. People had always told you how to live and who to love. Relatives had urged you to just see things through with your close family because family is family. You were supposed to just suck up years of neglect and disrespect because of relation.

But where were they now? After one of the most traumatic experiences of your life, Joel and Sarah were the ones you fell back on for support. They were the ones you loved and who loved you. You had decided life was too short and precious to not tell Joel how you felt.

"Sweetheart... you don't know what you're saying." He laughed nervously.

Joel was terrified that the trauma of the day had just gotten to you and that when you woke with a fresh head the following day you would regret your confession.

"No, Joel, don't fucking do that. You can't tell me in one breath that you respect me too much to deny me agency and then disregard me in the next for being too emotional. You don't have to feel how I feel. I adore you and Sarah far too much to let this change anything. But I had to be brave and tell you that I fucking love you or I would've regretted that forever."

"Get in the house." His tone was stern and he climbed out of the truck without looking at you.

"Don't tell me to get in the house like I'm your damn dog, Miller. Who the fuck do you think you-."

Before you could finish your sentence, his hands were cupping your cheeks, lips crashing into yours. Like everything else he did, the way Joel Miller kissed was consuming. His specific Tinker Specialty is mechas: suits and vehicles designed to be piloted by a single person. Due to his Shard's favor, he can stretch this way more than you might expect.

Can duplicate powers by interfacing with other Shards, within a 15ft radius, keeping the copies until manually discarded. Only has 6 slots to fill, usually leaves 3 empty both for the ability to quickly add new powers, and because taking on a power links them to its Shard. To use a power, QA has to create a bud with the data of the other Shard. For Taylor, the backlash of this process with one power is mildly painful as it settles, two is exhausting, three is mind-damaging. Each bud takes about 30 seconds to form each time the data package is activated. Their copied powers start off at half-strength for balancing purposes, but can be amped to full and beyond, at increasing cost to stamina and mental capacity.

So I’mma do a quick rant on Tim and the whole “forever 17” thing people are always going on about.

Disclaimer: some of this is based on my own experience with how I changed as I got older and comments from people that I went months and years without seeing.

I’m AFAB so it’s not quite the same. But I’ve never been one to remember a skin care routine and have relied on good genetics and good hygiene to make this point.

When doing some calculations for another post (you’ve probably seen that post I reblogged about the batkids ages) it hit me WHY it doesn’t look like Tim has aged.

Sure it might just be a style choice because DC wants to keep a chokehold on their Teen audience with Tim. (Even though Damian is RIGHT THERE!!! DC stop making Damian look like Tim for the love of GOD!)

A lot of people don’t actually CHANGE that much from ages 16-24 as long as they are keeping to the same exercise routines and diets. With the exception of Tim’s Brucequest, he kept to a fairly stable routine for Years!

The reason most people change so much early on is because they drop off their usual exercise (gym class) and repetitive diet (school or packed lunch). So you see people’s weight fluctuating (this can have an effect of visible face shape) hair either thinning or thickening and skin either clearing or getting more acne.

Add this to Tim probably having pretty good genetics (his mom looked like she was maybe pushing 30 when she died but was probably closer to mid 40s. Both Janet and Jack were around 10 years older than Bruce, who would have been mid 30s at the time.)

Tim not showing any signs of facial hair can also be down to genetics. Some cis men just NEVER get more than a single chin hair, maybe a max of 5 sparsely scattered along their chin. Those guys usually just pluck them out. They never actually have to shave. Though I think we Have seen Tim shaving again one point. Can’t remember when.

Either way, it makes sense for Tim not to actually look his age in any more than muscle mass. He’s noticeably built compared to how he was when Damian was introduced. (When the artists are going for a more realistic art style.)

Then considering his most recent dimensional adventure to save Bruce after the shit with Failsafe, you see just how much older he looks next to his mother (from that universe) and she didn’t seem that surprised with how he looked. Meaning her version of him is probably around the same age, and anyone who read that issue can see she looked pretty young.

Add all this to the fact it’s Canon that Jason is 23! He’s only at most 3 years older than Tim but is probably closer to 2 years older. (With Jason being 15 going on 16 when he died. And Tim was 12-13 by the 6 month mark after Jason died and Tim became Robin.)

So in conclusion, DC needs to stop acting like Tim’s still a Teenager and acknowledge that he’s a lot closer to 21 (hell, if we go by proper calculations he SHOULD BE 21).

What I’m saying is give us Tim going out for drinks with his older brothers. Have him show up at Jason’s after something bad happens and ask if he’s still up for that drink (in reference to that one time Jason offered to get a 16 year old Tim into a bar.)

Give us Funny Drunk Tim shenanigans to balance out that Dick is a miserable drunk! Have Jason get stuck babysitting both of them because he’s the only one that can actually hold his alcohol. Have the Girls be watching and laughing from across the bar because they unintentionally had their Girls Night and the same place the guys had their Boys Night.

Been thinking about Donald Duck lately and got curious about his age so I did some research!

Donald Duck was first introduced in the Silly Symphonies cartoon, "The Wise Little Hen," on June 9, 1934, marking his official birthday. Since he was introduced as an adult character, his age at the time of his debut is not specified and cannot be determined, but many he has been an official character for 91 years. So if we know that Donald was drafted into the military during WW2 in 1941 and we know that in 1941 he was somewhere between the age of 18-45 (the typical drafting age in America at the time). So that was 84 years ago, so using math we know that currently he would be anywhere between 102-129. We can narrow that number down some though; in the original DuckTales he is confirmed to be somewhere in his mid to early-30s. And so if the reason he left the triplets with Scrooge is because he was drafted for war then we can use that to figure out a more precise age, 114-121. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's true; age might be different in this little cartoon verse, and not to mention all of the little side stream universes that branch off of the true Walt Disney canon. For example, in the 2017 DuckTales reboot, Donald is confirmed 36, but also in that adaptation he didn't go to war and it is set in, as the year of the reboot suggests, mid to late 2010s, meaning in that universe he's currently 44 give or take.

Guys, lemme tell you--- home boy is probably in his 30's. I can maybe, MAYBE go as young as very late 20s, 28 at the YOUNGEST, but homie is like---- If I wanna go in my heart of hearts he's maybe staring down the barrel of 40. Def closer to 40 than 20 that's for damn sure. (though fun fact: once you're in your 30's, you're always gonna be closer to 40 than 20..... *stares at the floor having a brief existential crisis*)

but yeah no, he's probably in his early to mid 30s, and you might be thinking, 'Ruby, you're probably only saying that cause YOU'RE in your early to mid 30's' and you're maybe a little right but not for the reason you think you are.

The reason I say he's in his 30's is cause I'm also in my 30's and once you're in your 30's you know that being in your 30's and not being able to hold down a relationship is a massive red flag.

When you're in your early 20s, especially a fuck boy, not being able to make a relationship last long term is like-- it's not great but it's not The End Of It All ya know?? like low key, sounds about right. No Adult Adult expects you to have your shit together in your early 20's. (fun fact: you low key never have your life fully together but shhh you youngins ain't supposed to know that yet)

But yeah-- the reason 28 is the lowest I'll go is cause 28 is about the age where not being able to make a relationship last for more than a month or so, Stops Being Cute. And that's def where Haru is.

Fuyu: 40's maaaaaaybe even 50's. He def doesn't look it, he has a good bone structure and money an genetics and some skin care on his side, so he looks about late 30's/early 40's in the face-- but that greying hair gives away exactly how old he is. (this is another case of everyone in their late teens/early 20's thinking 50 is SO OLD-- it's really not. A LOT of movie stars you watch are actually in their 50's)

So yeah, mid 40's at the earliest, early to mid 50's at the oldest, low key in my heart of hearts I wanna put him in his early 50's. Freshly turned Actual Silver Fox. (as in freshly turned 50-- so about 52/53/maaaaybe even 54-- probs closer to 53. Just turned 53 and is STRESSED ABOUT IT)

(Young) Mirror Paul headcanons

I know most of these aren't canon, that's why they're headcanons. I deleted the sexual ones because I'd rather not have those on my blog. I chose to not write the series of fics about young mirror Paul because the idea was kind of pointless and strayed too far from Terran values and behavior.

But I do have a small fic coming soon. And here are the headcanons that would become the series:

- As a kid, he was already absolutely fascinated by mushrooms. The deadlier, the better. He would know exactly how to identify each type and what its toxins do to a person.

- Mirror Paul joined the Empire at a pretty early age, as opposed to Prime Paul joining Starfleet in his late 30s/early 40s. Mirror Paul joined in his mid 20s. Easily undermined. He was built like a twig basically, but knew toxins and poisons like no other.

- Just like in the prime universe, in the mirror universe Paul and Justin joined the Empire at the same time. They both started as ensigns working on biotoxins. But their close contact faded over the years as Justin started to focus on command, aspiring to be captain one day. They still are on good (?) terms though.

- He could do some cool knife tricks, mostly used them as a party trick.

- In his first few years in the Empire, Paul would regularly start fights with crewmates in the mess hall, despite being built like a twig. He definitely got beaten up a few times.

- As an officer, he aspired to introduce mycotoxins as bioweapons to the Empire.

- Mirror Paul met mirror Hugh when he was developing a new biotoxin. He poisoned himself by accident so they had to get the best doctor in the quadrant to come save his ass.

- Mirror Paul and Hugh are in love, okay? They're dating. They got married in secret. Instead of rings, they engraved each other's knives. They fell in love while developing a new toxin together, a project that would also gain both of them the 'Master of Poison' medal. They don't really speak of a relationship, more so a 'commitment', 'devotion' or 'loyalty' to each other.

- Their relationship/commitment is mostly a secret because it will be seen as weakness. While being drunk one day, Paul told Tracy. She now uses it to manipulate them by threatening to tell others if they don't do as she says. Why they haven't gotten back at her is a plothole I'm not willing to fix.

- I don't think mirror Paul really cares about who he is taking orders from, or even the Empire at all. He's not particularly loyal to it, he just stays because it's the only place he knows and he gets endless resources for his crazy experiments.

- He talks to his experiment subjects like they're friends. Even if they're foaming at the mouth. He'll just rant about the bland replicator food.

- Mirror Paul is absolutely amazed by how Michael tried to betray her own mother. He kinda likes her, but not enough. I don't think he really likes anyone other than Hugh.

This book has a surprisingly low rating on the Storygraph, and I'm not going to torture myself by looking at the reviews, but I'm assuming it's because of the power discrepancy between Ward and Nick. Clearly it didn't bother me as I really enjoyed the book!

Dionysus in Wisconsin by EH Lupton - 4.75/5 stars

At some point I might get tired of Mid-Century Modern romances, but not this day. This book was super fun, with an interesting world and lovely characters. And a Midwest setting! I've spent a lot of time in Madison, Wisconsin, where this book is set, so I got the added bonus of knowing most of the places pretty well. There was even a shoutout to an obscure piece of Madison history, the Lost City in the Arb. I have to get the second book in the series now!boy

Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan - 3.25/5 stars

I gave this book an extra quarter of a star for being written in 2003, when it would have been genuinely pretty groundbreaking. Reading it in 2024, it's very twee and pretty cringey (the queer utopia town would have been a magical fantasy in 2003, not so much now in a lot of places). When Levithan credited Francesca Lia Block's Weetzie Bat books in the acknowledgements, I though, ah. No wonder. Hated those as a teen.

All that said, there's some genuinely lovely writing in this book, and it has its place in the queer canon.

Super interesting nonfiction about the discipline of geology and how the early geologic epochs were figured out. Also gave me an idea for a historical romance about gay Victorian geologists.

Mickey and Friends Age Poll Results

So I sent out about 6 polls asking you all what ages you generally saw the different Mickey Mouse and Friends characters in either the comics, shorts, etc.

I was interested because none of the mediums really clarify ages (Unless they are specifically kids) and keep it vague so I wanted to see what vibes each character (or set of characters) gave. For research reasons.

So here are the results of the Poll and my own thoughts:

Mickey Mouse (120 votes)

Most People see him as... Mid 20's - Early 30's

Seems like just barely over half see Mickey as in his Mid 20's to Early 30's with a quarter seeing Mickey in his Early Adult - Mid 20's. As you can see, I completely agree with the majority. As others have said on the original poll, this Mid 20's to Early 30's is sort of that perfect sweet spot where you are clearly an adult and have and have had responsibilities for quite a while, but you aren't really an expert in anything yet and still trying to find your place in the world.

Mickey tends to reflect this mentality well as he clearly has his own house, can work, and must being paying bills. But he is also usually in a subordinate or student role. Usually the mentee instead of the mentor.

Minnie Mouse (30 votes)

Most People see her as... Mid 20's - Early 30's

This and the following polls got way less votes than the Mickey one (this one got only 1/4 of the same voting size), but I still think the results are interesting to talk about. I considered combining Mickey and Minnie since I feel like most people assume they are the same age or at least very close, but I changed my mind as I really wanted to see if that was the case and based on the poll... That does seem to be the case. Most people agreed that Minnie was in her Mid 20's - Early 30's, even more than Mickey at over 60%.

I know people tend to see or make female counterparts younger than males, so I am glad to see that people see Minnie at about the same age (Then again there is quite a bit of range). I also think it is interesting that the amounts for the other options were generally about the same as the Mickey poll (With even 30's - 40's being at the same exact %)

I, of course, agree with the majority as Minnie seems to be in the same age range as Mickey in terms of clearly having settled a bit as an adult, but still growing and trying to find her place in the world.

Donald and Daisy Duck (51 votes)

Most people see them as... Mid 20's - Early 30's

So the reason I combined Donald and Daisy is for the same reason I was about to combine Mickey and Minnie. I feel like most people see them as generally the same age and if they would have gotten drastically different results, it would have shown up on the Minnie and Mickey poll (I also just didn't want to make way too many polls). But as we saw with that one, there weren't really any changes with gender, so I assume it would have been the same here.

Seems like most people also see Daisy and Donald in their Mid 20's to Early 30's just like Mickey and Minnie. Over 60% of people agreed. I also agree, as I really see them as not really being that much older or younger than Mickey and Minnie, so feel like they should be in the same age range.

What I really think is interesting though is that when it comes to the other options, more people tend to lean more to 30's - 40's at over 25% instead of Early Adult - Mid 20's. Which wasn't the case for Mickey and Minnie. I think part of the reason is that Donald specifically tends to be put in more parental roles than the others. While they all have nieces and nephews, Donald has had quite a bit of media where he is the one who clearly has custody over Huey, Dewey, and Louie and takes care of them. I think that tends to push people to view him as more mature. Someone even mentioned that Ducktales '17 Donald is apparently canonically in his mid-30's, which probably influenced some of the vote.

And honestly, I can see that. I feel like when Donald is on his own or if his relationship with the boys is limited as just uncle and nephews who visit sometimes, I can see him being a bit younger. But if he is actually the one raising them, I can see him as a bit older.

Goofy (26 votes)

Most people see him as... 30's - 40's

So I am actually a bit surprised by this one. Because I actually didn't expect so many people to agree with me on the 30's - 40's. And over 65% did. It seems like over 80% see him as at least over 30 (First of his friends to have people vote 40's - 50's). With less than 20% seeing him in the same age range as the others. It appears that most people in general see Goofy as older.

I always saw Goofy as maybe about 5 - 10 years older than the others. I think part of it is his personality. While he is... Well, Goofy. He is also pretty wise and seems to have a bit more understanding or experience than the others. I don't know how to explain it, but he feels a bit more mature than Donald and Mickey at times.

It also helps that he is the one who is usually seen with the oldest child. Usually, Donald's Nephews are about 8 - 12, with a few rare exceptions of teens. Goofy, on the other hand, has been seeing Max as 11, 14, 16, and as a college student a couple of times each.

Most people see him as... 40's - 50's

So this one was pretty close as it seems like mostly everyone agrees that he is between 30's - 50's. But it was kind of close on which set of decades he is in. Though more people, almost 55%, believed that he is in the 40's - 50's range, and I agree.

Pete definitely comes across as a character who has a lot of history. Whether it is his more weathered gruffer looks or that he usually tends to be in authority senior roles (landlords, bosses, etc.) and similar to Goofy he also had a teenage/college-age son. I guess the big difference is whether people believe he is in the same range as Goofy or older. I actually don't think he is too much older than Goofy (Between 5 - 10), but he definitely tends to give off almost middle-aged, starting to have a mid-life crisis energy to me. And it seems like more people lean that way too. But I also could see him closer to Goofy's age.

The Phantom Blot (38 Votes)

Most people see him as... 30's - 40's

This was one I was really interested in seeing how people felt, since I feel like Blot doesn't have as clear age markers as the others and his age might depend on a variety of factors. This is the only time where I apparently went against the grain as I saw him as in the 40's - 50's where over 65% saw him in his 30's - 40's. Seems like almost 95% see him as definitely over 30% with about 2 votes seeing him as possibly in his mid 20's - 30's (I talked with someone who had this view and it is really interesting)

So from my perspective, I guess I saw the Phantom Blot as older because he sometimes gives me almost mid-life crisis vibes. I think this does depend on the comics you watched, but sometimes he feels like he is trying to remain relevant and do something meaningful before your life ends, which I feel tends to happen as you get closer to 50. He also in general just seems very knowledgeable and skilled which you get from experience.

But then again, I can also completely see where everyone else is coming from. Blot also in many appearances seems to be at his prime where he is old enough to be skilled and have experience, but still young enough to have a sharp mind and be in good physical shape. It would make sense for him to be in his prime and thus his most dangerous. Honestly I guess it depends on how you see the Blot and both can work.

And that is all of the characters and their ages. Seems like I generally agreed with the majority except for the Phantom Blot. Which is better than I expected. I kind of wonder if I should have added more tags as some of the voting pools were much smaller than the others. Also in retrospect, I wonder if I separated Daisy and Donald if Daisy would have polled younger since similar to Mickey and Minnie she doesn't really raise her nieces like Donald does.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Using The Pizza Delivery Girl’s Survival Guide to Gotham City by @morverenmaybewrites as reference cuz I just really like that universe!!! Arkhamverse is just my favorite portrayal of Jason because it’s perfect! Literally perfect!

These are my thoughts on Y/N getting JT to go to the doctor because he fucking deserves healthcare. 👏

I feel like he’d be initially more inclined to just not go at all since Alfred is “dead” in the fic(at least for a bit). But even in the general Arkhamverse he probably wouldn’t feel it’s necessary either??? He’s canonically been living most of his life without any proper medical care or treatment as well as in pretty extreme circumstances for extended periods..

Like bro got tormented for over a year, and still manages to do what he does. Jason is the human embodiment of “just walk it off”.

But to be fair, that doesn’t necessarily make it okay. He could definitely benefit from some physical therapy or just general medical attention. I know his diet is definitely shit tier and his mental health is down the drain so it’s safe to assume it’d be beneficial for him to get some check-ups! Especially since in the fic he’s got a bunch of body aches, mental issues, and overall is just having a bad time.. poor baby.

All that to say — If pizza girl manages to convince him to start going to the doctor I can see Jason preferring that PG be there just for moral support. He’d be very skittish, awkward and lowkey agitated.. overall he’d comply but it’d be like giving a cat a bath. 😭

I head-canon Jason is most likely gonna refuse invasive examination and bloodwork/shots though.. or at least take a very long time to become tolerant of them (I’m talkin early to mid 30s here).

As for therapy I see that being far easier to get him to cooperate with, but it’ll still take a LOT of convincing. He’s definitely not fond of change even when it’s good for him, especially when it’s good for him cuz he doesn’t think he’s worth it.

BUT HE IS WORTHY!

In conclusion Jason Todd would go to the doctor/therapist.. eventually.. if asked by someone he loves dearly… repeatedly. (￣▽￣)

According to Episode 7 (around the 00:33 minute mark), Yoh and segasaki have only been living together for four months. And Nikke-sensei's tweet, also clarifies that the proposal was made 3 years ago and that they’ve only been living together since March or April; which explains, in part, their shit communication lmao. 

Series timeline: June to July of year zero 

Ep 1: June 3rd (Sat)

The sunny weather forecast with Segasaki and Takatsu Reiko around the 12:30 minute mark in the latter part of Episode 1 is for 6月3日 (土). That means the present timeline, as in the drama, starts at the beginning of June; which tracks with the weather in the current episode and the weather in future episodes. Rainy season (梅雨 tsuyu) in Kanto (that includes Tokyo and Yokohama) usually starts in early June and lasts until mid-July, and, by then, typhoons already started ravaging the nation every two days lol 

Ep 2: June 8th (Thur) 

At the 8:03 minute mark, we find out that Hiyoshi Aika starts her job at EW (AHAHA WHAT A GOOFY ABBREVIATION) on the 8th of June (Hiyoshi Aika starts the broadcast by announcing the date: 六月八日). By June 10th, Yoh full-on became a sad, sulky puppy who’s pouting cutely as he made his sad stir-fry pork dinner (Yoh’s phone screen at the 9:05 minute mark reads ６月10日 土曜日). 

Around 9:56 minute mark the in-universe weather forecast shows forecasts for the 12th (Mon), 13th (Tue), 14th (Wed), 15th (Thur), 16th (Fri), 17th (Sat), and 18th (Sun) in Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Naha, suggesting that the day that Yoh resorts to making the Teru Teru Bouzu is June 11th. (Teru Teru Bouzu is a small ghost-like white doll people hang around the house in the hope of stopping the rain and bringing about good weather. Yoh’s desperate for some dicking down lol.) So, the day Yoh got frustrated and masturbated for erotic manga inspiration is at least a day after June 11th. Yoh and Segasaki’s clothes changed by then (the most noticeable is Segasaki’s shirt and tie). 

Since the tail end of Episode 2 probably takes place on June 12th, at the earliest, we can only assume that Episode 3 and 4 take place over the weekend of the 17th and 18th. Or the next weekend after. I’m tempted to even suggest that both episodes take place on the weekend of 24th (Sat) and 25th (Sun) because of how loud the cicadas were in the background in the 4th episode with Man-san. Cicadas in Japan are no joke, guys, they are so fucking damn loud, RIP ears, you will be missed. 

Ep 6: July 24th (Mon) 

*** I think canon dates broke down from Episode 5 onward… Around the 14:47 minute mark of Episode 5, Segasaki and Hiyoshi were presenting the weather for the 7th (Thur). There’s no monthly indication but we can assume that it’s in July; July because we were just in June in the first four episodes but also because (the beginning of) July is when the (awful, terrible, no good) heatwave starts taking Japan by storm (it lasts until fucking August and even spills into September this goddamn year, I kid you not; it was horrible). But, in Episode 6, the weather forecast at the end of the episode (around the 21:33 minute mark) was for 24th (Mon). If the 7th was a Thursday, then the 24th should be a Sunday, not a Monday. 

That’s why I’m just gonna disregard the 7th (Thur) in Episode 5, though I do think it takes place at the beginning of June or the end of July. Also, if we disregard that and count the days from Episode 1 (Saturday, June 3rd), then Monday, July 24th would make sense in Episode 6. So, let's go with that.

By the end of Episode 6, it’s the 24th of July. I know this is a while from Episode 5 but if we consider Man-san’s My Idol Boyfriend manga, then it makes sense. Yoh was ‘offered a job’ by Man-san pretty much immediately after he got dropped by his editor and by Episode 7, their manga was already in print. It would take them some time to finish their manga; less than a month is a very tight time to write, storyboard, edit, and have it approved but let’s make believe lol 

Ep 7: Typhoon No. 5

At the beginning of Episode 7 (around the 00:09 minute mark), Typhoon No. 5 was forecasted to take Tokyo by storm tomorrow. That kinda checks out, to be honest. Typhoon season in Japan could start as early as mid-May and could last until mid-October, depending on how early or late the heat begins and how long it’ll last. So I do think Episode 7 takes place some time after July 24th. 

Interesting tidbit: typhoons in Japan aren’t given names but are usually referred to by numbers. 

Personal (interesting?) tidbit #1: the first year I came to Japan, the super typhoon Hagibis made landfall in Japan. It was the strongest typhoon to hit Japan in decades and it was one of the strongest and biggest ever recorded. It was hella scary, not gonna lie lol and food was all out, even from the convenience stores. Fortunately, I was living in central Tokyo and wasn’t affected. Still scared though…. And, the crazy thing was, an earthquake struck the coast of Chiba before the typhoon hit so the typhoon’s effect was compounded. Wasn’t a fun experience, 0/10, do not recommend. 

Personal (interesting?) tidbit #2: my parents visited me this passing late May to early June, around the time typhoon Mawar wasn’t waging war in the Pacific. It was not a fun experience… we weren’t directly struck by it but the effects were kinda crazy: roads were closed, trains were suspended, rivers were flooded, and shops and restaurants were mostly closed. Felt really bad cause I took my family to Hakone (booked everything ages in advance and couldn’t cancel our reservation RIP) and we were just stranded up there… thankfully the sky cleared by our last day there and we were able to catch a glimpse of Fuji on our Ashi-no-ko’s cruise and on the train back to Tokyo. Still, wasn’t a fun experience, 0/10, do not recommend. 

Japan’s a wonderful place to visit though! Just… pick the right time. (I recommend autumn (Oct-Nov) because the weather’s great, the food’s fucking amazing, and the autumn foilage’s pretty rad.) 

Ep 8: July 28th 

The date after their (mildly) kinky sexy time was July 28th (Fri). The date can be found on Man-san’s phone around the 11:00 minute mark (7月28日、金曜日). 

There’s also another time indication later in the episode around the 17:13 minute mark where Yoh and Segasaki last texted on July 26th. Segasaki was telling Yoh about the rain and Yoh’s responses were pretty frosty if I’m being honest. Their texts go like this:

Segasaki: 今日午後から雨降る (It’s gonna rain this evening) Yoh: ありがとう (thanks) Segasaki: 洗濯物取り込んどけよ (bring the laundry in) Yoh: うん (k) 

It’s… frosty. Bare minimum from Yoh. Ofc he’s just feeling guilty (about the manga situation and stuff) but, y’know… it feels cold to Segasaki. I honestly feel really bad for the guy lol, especially because, from his perspective, Yoh’s only thinking about leaving and Yoh’s touchy-feely with that editor guy, and Yoh smiles happily and fully at and with that editor guy, and Yoh’s tired from being with him. 

Anyway, the series takes place from June to July of year zero and that’s canon. There, I said it. 

Yoh moving in: April of year zero

As you can see from my shittily drawn ‘graph’, I place Yoh’s moving in with Segasaki at April. This tracks with the timeline and Nikke-sensei’s clarification as well as in-universe narrative of them only been living together for four months. But, I’m extra so I’m gonna explain why (I found out about sensei’s tweet after figuring out the timeline lol)... and it’s not just backtracking from July. 

So, in Japan, the year usually ‘starts’ in April; as in the school year and the fiscal year ends in March and starts in April. This applies to leases as well: contracts are usually for 2 years and will likely end in March. Housing is in very high demand during that time and the prices for each unit are also very expensive because of that. Of course, you can rent a unit any time of the year but the good ones are also mostly available and up for grabs in the March-April period. (Renting a unit in Japan is… an experience lol and not a fun one. My being a foreigner does not help one bit because many landlords do not accept foreign tenants no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you’re in Japan for.) 

Anyways, as Yoh can see, I think that Yoh graduated in year zero… so, that’s a winter graduation some time in February. (People also graduate in summer some time in August but it’s much rarer because most Japanese enter uni in Spring (April). People who graduate in September are either those who extend their uni year or foreign students who enter during the Autumn intake in September because that’s when the English program school year start (in my department, at least… I entered in April and graduated my Master's 3 years later in February but it’s a somewhat special case.)

Anyway!!! Yoh graduates ‘this’ year so, that means his lease will be up too and it makes perfect sense for him to move with Segasaki around late March or early April. 

The proposal: mid-Feb —  late-March three years ago

I place the proposal at the end of Winter, beginning of Spring in year minus-three. Weather-wise, it’s plausible because we know that the day of the proposal was unusually warm for the time and February is easily one of the coldest months in Japan. And, even though Spring starts in March, warmth doesn’t really come around until later in the month or even April. (It snowed in March, once. In Tokyo. It rarely ever snows in Tokyo but it’s been snowing every other year since I came here.) 

I also headcanon that Segasaki graduated (his Master's) that minus-three year while Yoh is only in his second year of bachelor’s. My logic is that because he’s graduating, this could be his last desperate attempt to lock Yoh down and make sure Yoh’s spoken for (Yoh’s just a dumb-dumb who doesn’t recognize a proposal lol). It also makes sense for the proposal to come up at that period if we think about it… Mizuki’s graduating and Yoh could be asking him about his jobs after graduation and whatever else which, in turn, allows Mizuki to start a conversation about Yoh’s plan for the future. It’s also not uncommon for peeps to hang around uni before they start their jobs (for whatever reasons) so it makes sense to me that the proposal was in some time between Mizuki’s graduation in mid-Feb till late-March, when Yoh’s about to start his new school year and Segasaki will have to start his job. (This could be when Yoh finds out Segasaki will be working with EW and starts watching the broadcast religiously.) 

Job prospect-wise, it’s pretty solid. Segasaki’s confident that he’d be working in a high-paying job when he proposed to Yoh. If Segasaki’s graduating in year minus-three, then he’d extremely likely to already have a job lined up for him; he’s just gonna immediately enter the workforce right out of uni. This is very common in Japan. University graduates are socially expected and pressured into working immediately after finishing their studies which is why it’s common practice for them to start their job-hunting process during the second to last or last year at uni. It’s generally advised that they start second to last year in uni (B3 if you’re in your bachelor’s and M1 if you’re in your Master's) because the process is long and drawn out and it could be a very long time before a job is offered. It’s also ill-advised to do your job-hunting in your final year because final year can be very hectic for some; some B4 and M2 students need to write their thesis, do graduation projects, finish up their experiments, etc. it’s not fun to add job-hunting into the mix. So, even if the proposal happened right after Segasaki’s graduation, Segasaki would be confident that he’d be able to support both of them just fine. 

Why I don’t think Yoh did his job hunting 

I honestly don’t think Yoh did his job-hunting because:

As I talked about here, Yoh became anxious about jobs and job-hunting in general in Episode 5 and this could imply that he didn’t go through the process while he was in university. You could do it on your own, but it’s difficult. That’s why many students take advantage of the recruitment offered by universities. Many also make use of other public recruitment services. 

Yoh’s the kind of person who does things at his own pace and does what he wants. I.E. 1; Yoh is a slow walker who has always walked slow. Segasaki made a point of commenting about his pace but instead of increasing his speed to match that of his sempai’s, he continued at his own pace and said he’s been told that before, and Segasaki was forced to match his pace. Yoh’s aware of his snail's pace, he was criticized for it but said fuck all and went about walking at his speed anyway. This is very not-Japanese. I.E. #2; He doesn’t really care to socialize. That’s it, that’s the reason. I.E. #3; my guy used 俺 (ore) with the stranger seniors. Peeps aren’t expected to drop 俺 (ore) and go for 僕 (boku) when talking to seniors anymore but they’re strangers… he should be using 僕 (boku). I.E. #4; he made fucking curry rice for a sick person because that’s the only thing he can make. Curry rice. He could’ve googled how to make porridge but nah, curry rice lol. I.E. #5; arguing with his editor that the ‘I love you’ dialogue is necessary in his 20 pages long porn manga. I don’t man, Yoh’s not afraid to do his own shit and he totally seems like the kinda guy who’d fuck around and find out when it comes to his career. Which I think is why Yoh’s secured that he has a patron in Segasaki and decided not to do his job-hunting. 

Yoh & Segasaki’s first meeting: May —  June four years ago

I think Yoh first ‘met’ Segasaki four years ago; that’s his first year in university, and that would explain why he hasn’t seen Segasaki sooner. I placed their first meeting in May — June mainly because of their outfits. Everyone was wearing a Spring palette when we first saw them at the cafeteria, but they weren’t wearing any thick outer layers so that’s probably very late into Spring and early June. Their clothes also became progressively lighter throughout the flashback and, by the time Segasaki was sick, there were more layers on everyone again, esp. Segasaki, indicating that Autumn could’ve been around the corner. (Though this could just be due to the timing of the filming!)

Also, Segasaki’s friend asked for his notebook, implying that there’s a report/assignment/quiz coming up that he needs to prepare for. So, at least we know it’s definitely not the start of the semester.

On Mizuki’s Master’s level education 

I’ll be real… I’m entirely biased when it comes to Segasaki’s educational level. I have a Master's and I’m an old, I want my fav to be an old too haha. (I’m currently doing my PhD, it’s… going somewhere lmao) 

Anyway, I didn’t make him have a Master's just because… I think Segasaki has a position of seniority in the workplace despite his young age: he led the discussion and (I presume) implemented the new weather reporting system thing. He was also comfortable with rejecting the welcome dinner (歓迎会 kangeikai) for Hiyoshi… and his co-workers, who are obviously his seniors, just accept it as it is. You don’t just reject invitations to after-work dinners/parties, 飲み会 (nomikai), especially not the kangeikai. It’s a party to welcome new members; rejecting it means you’re not a team player and unwilling to bond with your co-workers to cultivate a harmonious workplace relationship, which is a no-no in Japan (please read up on 和 (wa) if you’re interested in learning why), and definitely a no-no if you’re not high-up in position. (There’s a lot of politics going on in the background that I’m not very familiar with. I understand the most basics; like filling superior’s glasses, ‘hanging out’ with superiors, being frank and up-front and coming away unscathed, power-harassment bosses forcing people to drink, etc.) So, Segasaki must’ve entered the workplace in a relatively high position; which is achievable with a Master's. 

Interesting tidbit #1: did you know, you don’t get fired from a workplace in Japan? If the company wanna lay off people, they usually just close the entire department lol crazy, I know, but it’s legit. It’s why people can be employed for life at work.

Interesting tidbit #2: not many Japanese students go for a Master's but when they do, they usually enter right after their Bachelor’s. However, there are certain majors where having a Master’s is advantageous and students are generally encouraged to go for it. I.E. my major, Architecture and Urbanism, and Civil Engineering. These majors typically take 5 years of undergrad for students to qualify as practitioners. In Japan, their Bachelor’s only lasts for 4 years and a 2 years Master’s will put them on the same level as other practitioners from abroad. (I did 5 years of Undergrad in Architecture and Urbanism and another 3 years for my M.Arch degree lol and there are years to go until I get my Doctoral RIP)

We've discussed Lance before, and I still stand by the opinion that he's in his mid 20's now. Maybe even in his late 20's, but no older than 27. Somewhere between of 25 to 27 years old.

Putting aside the theory that wizards have a slower life span (meaning they live 200 or even 300 years), to me Magnus' age ranges somewhere between his mid 40s to late 40s. Heck, even maybe early 50s for that matter. I can't say exactly, so his age would be somewhere between 45 and 52.

Victor is definitely older than many young bachelors, but younger than Lance. So I'll give him the mid 20's, or even more specifically 25 years old.

Claire also looks like a fairly young girl, but I wouldn't give her early 20s. But also I don't think she is in her early 30's either. So she looks somewhere between 26 and 28 to me.

Sophia may seem very immature to some because of her character, but her responsible attitude towards the vineyard that she inherited from her parents, and the fact that she definitely spent more than one year making wine properly, I would give her an age of 23 to 24. So early 20s, but slightly older than the same Sam or Penny.

Olivia is definitely mid 40's or early 50's (hot mom in your area). She's managed to have a career in Joja, get married and raise a son who is definitely over 20 years old now. So for me, Olivia's age ranges from 45 to 50.

Martin is canonically a teenager who comes to Pelican Town for a part-time job, so his age here is somewhere around 16-17. There's not much to add.

Andy gives the impression of an old farmer who has lived in the Stardew Valley for over 20 years. He's seen the Aurora vineyard still in operation and the economic crisis in Republic... So, in my opinion, he is somewhere around 47-49 years old, which is late 40s.

Late 30s or early 40s for Susan. She's also lived in Stardew Valley for a number of years, but she's definitely younger than Andy by about 5-10 years. I'd give her 38 years old.

Scarlett looks younger than Sophia by a year or two, so in her case she would have an age of 22 or 23.

Morgan is a child, but I think they are a little older than Jas or Vincent (both are the same age and 8 years old each). I'd give their ages somewhere around 10 years old.

At first I thought Isaac would be older than Lance by about 3-4 years (that Lance is somewhere in his mid 20's while Isaac is in his late 20's), but I decided to change my mind and make them the same age. So 26 for our grumpy adventurer with a scar.

Alesia looks all late 20s. She definitely spent her early 20s in Stardew Valley in Adventurers Guild, and then moved to Castle Village, where she feels right at home. So let her be 28 years old (maybe even 30).

With Camilla... it's a little hard to tell. She gives me the idea that she's somewhere around 35-36 years old now, but spends a lot of time and gold coins to look young and good. Besides, It's unlikely that someone young would be cast as the head witch of Castle Village (though who knows, maybe Camilla is just very talented an stubborn).

The SVE Wiki indicates that Jadu is a young mage, but just how young.... I'd give him somewhere between 24 and 26 years old. In short, a possible peer of Lance and Isaac.

Jolyne gave me the impression that she's already a battle-hardened adventurer and a capable Guild leader, and that's definitely something she's taken the time to do. So my verdict is 34 - 36 years old (somewhere between early 30's and mid 30's).

Do you have any age headcanons for some pokemon characters like for example the train men, N, Lysandre, ect?

Well, there's a few with canon ages.

N is confirmed to be like 20-22 and Cyrus is a beautiful baby boy at 27.

Lysandre is probably in his early 40s (maybe 42?) alongside Sycamore since they're clearly around the same age.

Ingo and Emmet are in their early 30s to me nowadays (despite my previous thoughts, I've stated), and Warden Ingo is maybe... I go between a few ages. The joke answer is he's just 37 and going through it hard, but it's probably mid 40s+ (and that, too, applies to Silver Fox Emmet, of course.)

Nanu is... something I don't want to give actual thought. Late forties to early fifties, maybe? 48-52 is the range I'd give.

Grimsley varies, too? He's clearly maybe mid to late 20s in BW... but, uh, idk about in Alola? Something either happened to him, or he had a rough time in like 2 years. Because... SM apparently is just two years after BW2. Help him.

Colress is hard in his 30s. Somewhere. Not sure. Just pick a random one in that range, and I'll probably agree. He just seems a more into his career and far out of whatever university had him. 33, I guess in BW2, so he gets to be 35 and insane in Alola.

Maxie and Archie also fluctuate for me. They are either in their late thirties or just turned 40. Actually, maybe Maxie is like 39 while Archie is 38 or something. I don't know. They just seem older but not too old? Especially their Gen 3 designs... I don't think there's that much age variance between ORAS and RSE them, though. Them again, with the Cyrus situation, they both might just be 25 lmao.

Guzma is over 20, and that much is certain. He and Kukui (and Molayne) are all around the same age, so I like to imagine he's like 23 doing all that sjajdns.

Volo is 27 to me because it would just be hilarious that being in Hisui/Sinnoh and being that age makes you want to climb that damn mountain. Though, I also do think he's in his mid-20s in general.

My controversial take is that I see Irida as 18 at the youngest. She's the head of her clan, and her close friendship with Palina makes me think they're close in age. And I see her age as close to Adaman's own, too, but maybe just a little younger to make her feel more of a need to prove herself to him. I think they would also prefer an adult to be head of the clan, too.

Elesa is maybe... 24-26? Hard to explain why. Just seems in that range.

Cynthia is probably around Cyrus's age, so 26-28. They seem maybe a little acquainted before all the stuff in DPPt, so I think they may have met a few times, maybe at a university or in school.

Larry is like 48-50. He's been confirmed to have worked for the Paldea league for 25 years, so it just seems likely he may joined up after he graduated.
