i do think that despite certain kinds of grittiness occurring in other 90s comics, and even bat comics, 90s bat comics were genuinely pretty firm on the stance that resorting to killing is pretty categorically unacceptable for a bat-character. it's why knightfall is a thesis for "a batman who only cares to stop crime and will kill is not a good batman". it's why when they had characters like huntress and spoiler who were more likely to ask the question of if "maybe some people should die" they consistently got talked down from it as not the right way and would always back down from killing (and why they were allowed to be batfam characters rather than bad guys--the fact that despite the fact they were willing to kill, they chose not to almost every time) (whether or not you agree with the stance that ostensibly was the main stance). like yes. bruce could be a dogmatic asshole about it to people but also. in the words of the batbible itself.

Do you think that Thou-Shalt-Not-Committ-Adultery Pulsifer was based off of Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins?

Hiya! :) In the book? Yes - like, him and Shadwell and the witchfinder army :). He is even mentioned in the book. Matthew Hopkins (real history character) claimed to have the Witchfinder General title tho Parliament never gave it to him, from that I think Terry and Neil did the who "Witchfinder Sergeant" and others hierarchy titles in their witchfinder army, also Hopkins was looking for extra nipples.

In the show they certainly used Hopkins' appearance when creating the Thou-Shalt-Not-Committ-Adultery Pulsifer :).

Also fun fact, when Crowley meets Shadwell, we see on the telly Shadwell's favourite movie - the Witchfinder General from 1968 where Vincent price plays the character of Matthew Hopkins :).

Thou Shalt Not Kill - AU Noah Sebastian Story

New story I’m working on. Information under the cut

Summary: Reader is a detective and is assigned to a murder case which she soon connects with previous killings and figures out the religious affiliation between them all, proving there is a new serial killer within the city.

Reader soon becomes obsessed with the killers mind and methods and won’t rest until she figures out who the killer is.

All while she gets used to working with her new partner on the case, detective Noah Davis.

Pairing: AU - Noah Sebastian X detective female reader

Warnings: graphic writings of murder/killings, blood, gore, violence, serial killer, swearing, smut, lots of kinks eventually, god complex, use of religion, obsession, loss, dark romance, crime, horror, and probably many more as it goes on!

It goes without saying, if you don’t like then don’t read. It’s that simple!

This will be a multi chapter story. Smut will come later in the story, I’ve used inspiration from a lot of things such as AHS: Hotel, my favourite serial killers (real or fake characters) certain films and pieces of music, etc
