absurd photography

☞ is a composed piece of art using seemingly random items placed on or near a subject creating a ridiculous sculpture. the position of the subject is then manipulated to make the already absurd creation even more so.

☞ an example of this that springs to mind is the music video for “can’t stop” by the red hot chilli peppers, directed by mark romanek. the goings-on in the video took inspiration from “one minute sculptures” from vienna’s conceptual artist erwin wurm.

☞ some examples of absurd photography that i like are below 

☞ my idea is going to be taking things from a bunch of different pieces of work I've seen. the concept is inspired by my love of makeup entwined with the work of spanish artist, natalia pereira, who is based in barcelona. her meanings behind her images of models with string on their faces and around their heads is to show the distortion of our identities when we’re trying to desperately fit the molds that don’t fit us. trying to always be something that we are not. going from that i feel i could create an absurd image enrapturing this message whilst making it my own.

☞ below are my key reference images to go along with my idea; toast crust bracelets/bangles, glass of water to distort the subjects which will be makeup brushes. in a bowl will a be bunch of actual jewellery (necklaces, rings etc) with a spoon. model will be sat with her back diagonally to the camera but face in the mirrors reflection. everything will be well light, no harsh shadows and there will be a pink backdrop. regarding clothing i would like my model to wear something simple in design but the colour isn't a priority. maybe something like a tube top. the photos contents will be from the waist up so the garments from there down don't matter as much.
