I've been thinking. Are Aventurine and Dr. Ratio supposed to be fighters in-universe? I mean, most other characters (with the exception of some Harmony characters, who are not expected to deal dmg) are either professional warriors, or they have weapons, or some object they realistically use as a weapon, or there are some mystical powers they possess. I can imagine most of them fighting in a serious cutscene the same way they fight in-game.

And then there are these two, throwing casino chips and chalk. Realistically, you can't do any damage by throwing these (even the tiles Qingque throws look quite heavy, I wouldn't want to get hit by one of these). So in an actual in-game fight one of them thinks really hard about geometry and imagines dropping some ancient architecture on the enemies, and the other just daydreams about gambling so vividly that it hurts the enemies. Is it, like, the Imaginary thing? Is it what other characters see? Some formulas and graphs appear and hurt the monsters? Does a giant roulette wheel appear under a monster?

My theory is no. They are adequate fighters because they are playable characters in a gacha game, it's just a convention. Outside of fights, they are just normal people (as far as I currently understand them). Because other Imaginary characters deal dmg in ways that I can actually imagine happening in-universe, in a cutscene, for example (Welt yealding the power of a black hole with his cane, IL with his magic, Yukong with her bow and arrows, Loucha with his rapier and his freaky abundance magic). I mean, if Aventurine gets confronted by a robber in a dark alley, he isn't going to throw chips at them or turn the floor into a giant roulette wheel. He'll probably apply his street smarts.

So without his stone, Aventurine is just a guy, that's why he had to be saved by Argenti. Ratio is just a teacher, that's why he didn't help us fight the giant bug on the Herta station (I saw somebody complain about him not helping us), and that's why he needed our help dealing with that phase flame.

upd. People were very kind to remind me that Aventurine is actually a competent fighter and very proficient with a gun. It would be funny if one of his fighting animations was him going "fuck it" and pulling a gun at the enemies.  Still not beating the "normal guy" allegations, though.

Tbh, I think my love for Jack fell when my JJBA phase died out… When I downloaded TWST, I just wanted to try it out because it was the “Disney Gacha Anime Boy Game”. At that time, I wasn’t really feeling a big connection and picked my first SR solely based on who reminded me the most of my previous fave. Looking through the different characters, I was caught in the middle between Jack and Silver. I ended up picking Jack cause he was buff ngl-

After a while of shipping Jack with Cloche, I just felt uncomfortable by the differences in their values (if I dig deep into their characters). Ofc conflicts and contrast add spice and gives new perspectives/situations to play around with- but I just felt bad to ship Jack (someone who’d want a life-long partner with commitment, who’d be family oriented) with Cloche (someone fickle and can’t care less about family-).

Shipping aside, while I can appreciate Jack’s principles as a character, it’d absolutely drive me insane if I met him irl. Considering the topics and themes I’d rather explore— Jack probably wouldn’t be the best character/muse for me. I am NOT dragging this good boy into my madness.

(I still think Cloche and Jack are cute as friends. Them being the only beastmen in the first years’ group definitely gives them a solidarity and mutual understanding of sorts. Plus— they’d naturally get along, with Jack being mature and responsible.)

man this morning im so sad that Limbus is a gacha, obviously i'd prefer that to it not existing at all. and i do not fault project moon at all for the decision. This industry sucks and gacha is the safe way of securing funding. It makes sense for an indie studio of 20 whole people.

but sitting here, having spent all my saved up gacha resources since launch on an attempt on the New Shiny Toy and not having got it, It's snapped me out of the honeymoon phase a little. I love this game, i love this world, i love the writing, i love the characters.

But getting a big reminder of how Gacha is fundamentally predatory and that this will likely happen again hurts. I played a ton of a Gacha before getting into ProjMoon's games and god was LCorp and Ruina back to back such breaths of fresh air. Two completed, finished pieces of art that quickly rose to be some of my favorite games of all time. I'm pretty sure i fell off of Gacha due to those games completely hooking me.

and I want more! Project Moon makes incredible stuff! I wanna support these people and their art. But even if Limbus is much more generous and skirts a good chunk of icky gacha stuff, it still is one at the end of the day. So now i'm faced with the choice of: don't get to experience more of the media i've fallen in love with, or be subjected to the inherently manipulative practices of live-service games.

I'm going with the latter, obviously. Limbus is still a very good game and i want to support Project Moon. But it's definitely going to sting a tiny bit knowing that the game will never be as good as it could've been if it was a complete product like their previous two entries.

I cant exactly pin point what started it but it started when I was literally in middle school and I’ve been reminded of it recently cause the fandoms kicked up again on Tiktok.

There’s practically zero record of it online (thank god) cause I didn’t use social media the way I do now but my creepypasta phase was basically fuelled by “how I became a creepypasta” gacha life mini movies and Pinterest fan art so can you tell it was a “omg the creepypastas live in the slender mansion together like a Nickelodeon sitcom” type of thing and not an actual liking to scary stories 😭.

I remember watching the “I Eat Pasta for Breakfast” and “Frozen Creepypasta” comic dub series on YouTube and those Minecraft Newscape-pro creepypasta roleplay videos too. My favourite was Ticci Toby.
