Godaime Characterization
Note: This became a bit too long but I feel will be useful for those who interact with me.
I’ve been meaning to write this for a while, and now that my keyboard’s finally cooperating, it’s time—
My portrayal of Tsunade is that of someone unapologetically snarky and, at times, delightfully full of herself. But this summer, a nagging doubt crept in: am I depicting her right? Or worse, am I letting my own personality bleed into her characterization?
So, I went back to the source. I rewatched every scene of hers in the anime, scrutinized every manga panel featuring her, and came to a glorious conclusion—the woman is a menace. She’s brutal with her words, smug as hell, and absolutely insists on having the last say. Any reservations I had went straight out the window, and my Tsunade officially became the reigning queen of snark.
That left me wondering: why had I doubted myself in the first place? The answer was clear—fandoms. They’re incredible spaces, no question, but sometimes, fanon bleeds into canon so much that the lines blur. Over time, Tsunade’s portrayal shifted. In fanart and fanfiction, she’s often reduced to either the “drunk grandma” trope or a hypersexualized symbol, and somewhere along the way, her canon personality got lost in the shuffle.
But NOT here. Not on this blog. Tsunade is no one’s trope.
Why is she the way she is?
She’s a prodigy, plain and simple. The fandom tends to forget that sometimes. Tsunade became a Genin at six. Six. By the time most kids are learning to tie their shoes, she was already on her way to revolutionizing the medical field—single-handedly, might I add. She defeated Chiyo, the world-renowned poison specialist, while still in her teens. Let that sink in.
She’s also a Senju. One utterly spoiled by her grandfather. Shinobi royalty, through and through, treated as such from the moment she could walk. The “Hime” title isn’t just for kicks—it holds weight. Even Danzō uses it, and we all know he doesn’t do respect lightly. Tsunade was used to getting her way from an early age and rarely, if ever, heard the word “no.”
Her teammates? Just as guilty. Watch any scene with the three of them, and you’ll see it. Jiraiya and Orochimaru practically invented the art of indulging her. No matter how outrageous or dramatic she was being, they always gave in. They solidified her Hime lifestyle long before anyone else could question it.
And then there’s her clan name—that privilege that few in Konoha could dream of having. When she decided she was done with shinobi life and walked away, leaving the village to wander the world, what happened? Nothing. No hunter-nin were sent after her. Anyone else would’ve had a team on their trail within days, but not her. Being a Senju gave her a free pass.
Here’s the thing: Tsunade likes to have her way. Always has. But the difference? She’s got the skillset to back it up. Honestly, who in their right mind would dare to challenge her?
The Konoha I write is a far cry from the idealized version often found in most fan portrayals. There are no shining heroes here—save for Naruto, the outlier. My depiction leans heavily into the grim reality of what it means to be a shinobi.
What are shinobi, truly? They are assassins, thieves, spies, saboteurs, and manipulators, trained from childhood to master the art of psychological warfare. They operate in shadows, their hands stained with blood, their morality twisted into shapes that serve their purpose. Their loyalty isn’t to some lofty ideal of justice—it’s to their Hokage and their nation. Konoha and Hi no Kuni come first. Always.
To protect those, no act is too foul, no line too sacred. Once they fasten that hitai-ate, they cease to be individuals with their own wants or friendships. They become weapons—willing, obedient tools forged in fire and duty. On missions, there is no room for personal morality, no hesitation over relationships or past bonds. A shinobi of Konoha will burn villages, poison wells, and manipulate lives if the mission demands it.
This is the shinobi world—cutthroat, ruthless, and unrelenting. My Konoha basking in sunlight is more an illusion; in truth, it thrives in the shadows, because that’s what it takes to survive.
As the leader of such people, my Tsunade is no heroine. Her loyalty lies with Konoha—her homeland, her inheritance, her duty—and she will protect it at any cost. This is the essence of leadership in a world as brutal as theirs.
Take, for example, the moment she places a bomb seal on Kakashi and sends him to Hiruko, knowing full well it could mean his death. She hates it but goes through with it. Doesn't hesitate—not because she’s heartless, but because the mission demands it. Protecting Konoha always comes first, no matter the personal toll.
Then there’s Jiraiya. Sending him to Ame wasn’t a decision she made lightly, but it was one she made without faltering. He was the best suited for the mission, and as Hokage, her duty was to assign it. Even when it meant sending her oldest friend to what might as well have been his grave. She hated it, but it was her duty to send the best person for the job, even if it was her best friend.
Tsunade’s choices aren’t about heroism; they’re about survival. That’s the cold reality of leading shinobi.
As Hokage, Tsunade isn’t here to coddle her shinobi. She doesn’t have the luxury of being soft or overly kind—not like Sarutobi was. Her leadership is harsh, but fair, grounded in the cold reality of their world. Konoha’s survival depends on it.
The village has lost too much—too many shinobi, too many elite warriors. The wars, the Kyuubi attack, the Uchiha Massacre, the Suna/Oto invasion… each loss has chipped away at Konoha's strength. The names they’ve lost are legendary: Hatake Sakumo, Kato Dan, Namikaze Minato, Uchiha Fugaku, Orochimaru, Uchiha Shisui, and Uchiha Itachi—shinobi who had the power to solidify Konoha’s reputation as the greatest force in the shinobi world. Now? That power is gone.
Tsunade doesn’t have the luxury to be kind. She doesn’t have the luxury to be gentle. Every decision, every action, must be ruthlessly pragmatic. Konoha can’t show weakness. If it does, every other nation will pounce. They’ll capitalize on it—crush that illusion of Konoha's might.
After their defeat in the Third Shinobi war, Kumo and Iwa were desperate for the chance to topple Konoha. Tsunade knows this better than anyone. And she’s prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the village’s strength isn’t seen as anything less than absolute.
Her personality as Hokage is often reduced to that of an angry, impatient, sullen woman. That’s the general consensus, isn’t it?
Let’s break that down.
Yes, she’s angry. But why?
It’s because the state of Konoha when she returns as Godaime is a direct affront to everything she’s ever stood for. Konoha is barely hanging on, and it terrifies her. The administration? A disaster. The hospital? Using techniques she’d deemed redundant and inferior more than twenty years ago. The village infrastructure? In shambles. The elite shinobi? Either dead or too wounded to serve. Konoha is bleeding out in every sense of the word, and no one is acknowledging the scale of the damage.
They’re broke. The shinobi who remain are spread thin, and they can’t take missions fast enough. Refusing missions? It’s not an option. The clients they depend on would abandon them, and with that would come the collapse of Konoha’s reputation, its economy, and its power. The other villages are hungry, and they would use this vulnerability to tear them apart.
So what does she do? She sends exhausted, overworked shinobi—people who don’t even know her, who are only loyal to the Hokage title she was suddenly thrust into—on missions. No breaks. No recovery. Physically drained, mentally shattered. Tsunade KNOWS how dangerous it is, how damaging this will be. She knows this could ruin any future relationships with these nin, but she has no other choice.
For Konoha’s survival, for the survival of the Will of Fire and everything it stands for, she has to bury her compassion, stifle the medic within her, and step into a role she never wanted.
Because sometimes, survival doesn’t care about what you want. It only cares about what you’re willing to sacrifice. As a war veteran, she understands that.
She lacks patience. Why? Because while all of this is happening—while her focus should be on pulling Konoha from the brink—the damn council insists on getting in her way. They act like they can push her around, like they can dictate the way things are done—the way things have always been done. Politics. She hates that shit. She doesn’t have time to deal with their petty games. But the village is still unstable. The system is crumbling. So she grits her teeth and tolerates their interference, for now. She knows that once she has a firmer grasp on things, once Konoha is breathing again, she’ll finally be able to shove them all out of her way and take control. Until then, it’s just another battle to survive.
She is sullen. Why? Because in a matter of days, her world has been reduced to a narrow, suffocating window. She’s always been a free spirit—wild, untamed, the kind of woman who craved freedom, who spent the last two decades roaming, choosing her own pace, living without the burden of responsibility. Now, she’s shackled to duty. She understands the weight of the job, the honor, the privilege of the seat her ancestors once held. She respects it, gives it her damned best. But it’s a duty she never wanted. And that realization eats at her, slowly, like a poison she can’t spit out. It takes its toll, grinding her down, moment by moment. This was her brother's dream. Her lovers dream. Her having it is a double edged knife.
She’s back in a village that mirrors the one she left behind, yet it feels so alien. So many faces are missing—comrades, friends, family—gone, never to return. Does anyone else realize that an entire generation—her generation—never made it home from the war? That she’s one of the few survivors, one of the handful of nin out of hundreds? Do they understand the emptiness that lingers in the village, the gaping hole left by those who used to fill it? She does. And it fucking hurts. She barely recognizes anyone here anymore. The ones she does know—Shikaku, Inoichi, Choza, Kakashi, Genma—she remembers them as bumbling, clumsy Gennin and Chūnin. Not as the adults they’ve become. It’s… disorienting. The sharp, bitter jolt of seeing them as grown nin. Something she didn’t expect.
She’s fucking irritated. The state of the village, the crumbling infrastructure, the political cesspool she’s had to wade into—it’s all too much. And it's endless. Paperwork and reports pile up like a mountain she has to climb every damn day. She's forced to get reacquainted with the village she once knew so well, only to realize that it’s changed in ways she could never have imagined. The entire structure has shifted since her absence. The leadership, the economic landscape, the political networks—everything has morphed into something she never trained for, never prepared for.
She was never meant to be Hokage. Hell, she was never trained to be Hokage. She’s a medic, a fighter, a leader by force of will, not by political maneuvering. But now, she’s thrust into this position without warning, without preparation. She’s forced to navigate through a maze of alliances and rivalries, figure out the intricacies of the village’s economy—an economy that’s buckling under the weight of too many wars, too many lost resources—and the cold, calculating clan politics that lurk in the background, waiting to seize any opportunity to further their own agendas.
On top of all this, she has to ensure the day-to-day operations of the village run smoothly. Shinobi still need missions. The people still need security. The economy still needs to turn, even as it teeters on the brink of collapse. All this responsibility weighs on her shoulders, with resources running dangerously low, and no clear path forward.
She’s brilliant, yes. But this? This is a goddamn nightmare. Balancing all these responsibilities with nothing but her sharp instincts and raw determination? It’s like trying to juggle a thousand knives with only one hand. And the worst part? She can’t let it show.
In light of all this—
For most of her shinobi, Tsunade is a no-nonsense, iron-fisted leader. Loyalty isn’t just expected; it’s demanded. Unquestioning. Absolute. These are her subordinates, not her friends, and they will respect that distinction. She doesn’t have the time, the patience, or the luxury to coddle them. Her expectations are high, and she won’t tolerate the slightest hint of insubordination. They’re tools, necessary for the survival of the village—and they better damn well know their place. The fact that the name of each nin that never returns home from mission is carved on her heart is a secret she shares with no other. The longer the list becomes, the less she sleeps.
Then, there are the nin who eventually become part of her inner circle—
The ones who get to see beyond the Hokage title, those fools she’s somewhat at ease with. The idiots who can get away with being obnoxious and absurd around her. They take the brunt of her endless snark and biting insults—don’t mistake it, though, there’s no permanent damage. Just enough to keep them in line and remind them who they’re dealing with. It’s the price they pay for being in her somewhat trusted circle. But then they of course know when to abuse their freedom and when to bow before their leader's will with no questions asked. Tsunade trusts them to know this.
Among this circle, the most prominent is Kakashi—her right hand. She considers him one of her closest friends, despite his tendency to be an irritating enigma. Then there’s Shizune, often seen as Tsunade’s assistant, but her actual role goes far beyond that—she’s an advisor, head of the Hospital, and reformist, shaping the place into something Tsunade would approve of.
Shikaku enters the fold next, stepping up as her left hand, a level-headed voice in the storm.
Then, her guards—Genma, Raido, and Iwashi. They’re stuck with her now, so she may as well make it worth her while to torment them. Genma, in particular, becomes her favorite target. He gets away with being far more obnoxious than the others, but also endures the brunt of her snark and absurd demands.
Anko, the ever-persistent menace, forces her way onto the list. Tsunade doesn’t have the energy to kick her off, so she stays—reluctantly. It’s not like Tsunade can’t handle her, but sometimes, the headache isn’t worth it.
Gai. His eyebrows will forever make Tsunade cringe. And if he cries one more damn time about how much he respects her “power of youth,” she’s going to be the one to make him lose all his hair. She has her limits, and that? That is crossing them.
Izumo and Kotetsu—her favorite jesters. Reliable idiots, the pair of them. She has a soft spot for them. Why? She doesn’t know. She just does, dammit.
Ibiki—Tsunade works closely with the stoic man for weeks and learns to appreciate his dark humor. The man’s got a decent alcohol tolerance, and Tsunade takes a twisted satisfaction in watching him terrorize his subordinates. A kindred spirit if there ever was one.
Shikamaru—Goodness, the Nara kid had no right to be as damn tactical as he was. Besides, he was the only one who could balance out Naruto’s absolute stupidity. Some days, she wonders if the kid's maturity came straight from his smarts or his sheer exhaustion from putting up with everyone else’s nonsense.

@konohagakurekakashi & @minaa-munch I finally got around to this after forever. Cold medicine gives me twitchy fingers. xD

too shy to come off anon since eng is 5th lang but vvv interested in the omegaverse poll so wanted to just spill guts for a bit here.
I think Dick is particularly flexible to give a secondary gender to? So I'm really liking to see how people tilt to one side abt him LOL, it's interesting! Honestly, I dont mind any alpha/omega/beta signing for most characters as long as the portrayal hits. There's a lot you can do for Dick with any of the secondary genders, making him not to conform to some ideals as well as explore his struggles in diff ways.
Just throwing ideas out but maybe the beta assignment helps explore his peacemaker qualities with his family and can be used to balance the whole wayne family as a whole, the alpha one will bring more into light his issues with 'temper' (not really saying temper in terms of anger, but I love how at times he can be hardened and a little assholeish due to his pain, grief and upbringing and yet when confronted with it, is also someone who can evaluate himself well etc etc, it's wonderful) (more parallels with Bruce, more projection BY Bruce??) stuff like that! Beta and Alpha is what I tilt towards LMAO, but there's for sure so much to be explored by him being an Omega, it's just... not my cup of tea if I think about his position in the narrative as a whole (not just position in the batfam, but most incidents that've happened to him) and considering what social dynamics are usually in ABO verses.
But that depends from person to person! I just can't see him as an omega unless we're not including omega discrimination in society (which is fair!) but different strokes for different folks. It's just not a narrative vibe for me.
Somehow though, JASON is 100% an omega to me in any case so idk, (will explode if his 'agression' is ever inherent to him, pushing typical alpha traits on him just makes me offput + omega jason is fun to explore narratively to me in juxtaposition to alpha/beta dick too!)
Anyhow, it's so cool how people do have diff designations for every character, this was fun, tq! Would love to hear ur thoughts :)
thank you for sharing your thoughts! (don't worry, english also isn't my native language. and your english is great! also, you know five languages? mad respect.)
i didn't include the "beta" option on the poll because i wanted to see which "extreme" people would pick and now i regret it a bit. i was curious how other people hedcanon him, especially considering there's an entire fandom event dedicated to omega dick.
i've had the exact same thoughts as you. if we're going with traditional omegaverse traits and assuming personality is in some way influenced by the dynamic, i can see dick as every dynamic (alpha, beta, and omega). beta dick as a peacemaker, balancing the family. alpha dick as a leader, determined and persistent with a bit of a temper and a manipulative streak. omega dick as an empathetic and supportive person, the heart of the dcu. (also, a nature vs nurture debate in the context of omegaverse would be very interesting.)
i'm a big fan of making the omegaverse world mirror real-life, including discrimination and darker aspects, but i know it's not everyone's cup of tea. i can see omega dick fiercely fighting against the stereotypes that omegas are weak and shouldn't be heroes and struggling under other's people expectations (especially bruce's) compounded by his dynamic.
i think no matter which dynamic you pick for him, it recontextualizes a lot of his history and you can have a lot of fun theorizing which canon events or relationships would change depending on his dynamic (and your overall omegaverse worldbuilding).
i also headcanon jason as exclusively an omega. i like that jason at first glance seems very traditionally masculine: a muscular and tall antivillain/antihero with loose morals who uses guns and has a vendetta. but he also has traditionally feminine traits: as robin he deeply cares about abused women and victims of sexual violence, he reads romance novels, and he cries and shows his emotions openly. making him an omega contrasts his image as red hood even more. i imagine being an omega villain/crime lord would be particularly difficult and opens the door to metaphorically exploring his feelings about gender and people's perceptions of him. (that's also why i like fem!jason and trans!jason stories.)
thank you for sending the ask, i had a lot of fun answering it <3

had to unfollow *THAT* aemond stan. cannot deal with people who are so up their own asses they think their opinon or headcannon rise above everything else. this was happens when you get some notes on tumblr from what you write. you act like a diva.
If I ever stop finding humor and joy in this fandom, anon, please kindly tell me! If I'm ever not inclusive of other fans, please kindly tell me.
Ultimately, I think dogmatic headcanon is the path to gatekeeping. So many great writers and fans are out there who become intimidated by behavior that suggests they won't be included in the fandom if they disagree (or will be actively attacked, how unreal is that?).
I'm sorry that some of that dogmatic thinking has affected your experience in the fandom but blocking is good for us! If we don't curate our online experience, who will do it for us?
Note: I have views about Aemond that not everyone agrees with and soft!Aemond isn't bad, it's just not my cup of tea, but when that is the only portrayal because people aren't inclusive I get frustrated. Fanon and canon are very different. I respect both but I like to know from which the writer is operating.

# INMONTANA, A PRIVATE AND DO NOT FOLLOW FIRST MULTI MUSE FOR CHARACTERS FROM TAYLOR SHERIDAN'S YELLOWSTONE. THIS BLOG IS TRIGGER HEAVY AND DYNAMIC FOCUSED. THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THE SERIES IS NOT EVERYBODY'S CUP OF TEA, I GET IT, BUT THAT JUST MEANS THIS ISN'T THE SPACE FOR YOU. BY BRI, 27, SHE/HER. TWENTY1+ ONLY. IN AFFILIATION WITH: DUHTON AND DEVILSLEFT. + CHARACTER DIRECTORY.
GENERAL RULES -.
001. i do not claim the rights to any media found on this blog. i am not apart of creating any of the shows, films, games or novels the characters i write belong in. what i do take pride in, however, are my portrayals therefore i'm making it known that i do not tolerate stealing of any kind. while i don't think i'll have an issue with this — i have in the past so i like to get it out of the way. if you do steal from me, i'll approach privately.
002. i do not follow everyone back. i've been on tumblr for many years now and have learned how best to curate a space for myself that i am happy to be in. it would be a disservice not only to myself but to everyone if i acted as though i could keep up with a quick moving dash by interacting with every single person. for the most part, i tend to follow people back within twenty four hours if i can see us writing together. otherwise i do make sure to softblock unless rules state you'd prefer to be hardblocked to avoid confusion. 003. if you support or condone racism, homophobia, transphobia, white-washing, suicide baiting, bullying or bigotry of any kind i will immediately block you. this also goes for zionists. we have nothing in common and i do not want that energy in my space. this is your one and only warning. 004. in terms of callout culture: i do not partake in it just for the sake of it. i typically do not reblog or engage with callout posts, but if someone is actively harmful to the community as a whole then of course that's different. i'm not interested in watching anyone to try to chase somebody out of a community simply because they don't like them. i am an adult with a mind of her own who can make decisions for herself. just because i don't interact doesn't mean i don't see it nor does it mean i'm supporting or not supporting it. 005. lastly, i am wholly uninterested in jamie dutton as a character and even more am i uninterested in hearing/seeing reasoning for the behaviour of him. there are no redeemable or good traits that you can convince me jamie possesses. he was a legal adult at the time of taking his minor sister to get an abortion and then he proceeded to make a decision, while being fully knowledgeable of said decision, that resulted in her being sterilized alongside of it ALL WITHOUT TELLING HER. that is violating her bodily autonomy and it is taking away the right to choose. again, i need to reiterate because it fucking means something. beth is a minor at this point in time. i'm sorry, but if in the year 2024 there is anything even close to condoning of that shit- keep it the hell away from me, because i will be blunt here: i'm not going to be nice about it. that is, in my opinion, the worst thing jamie did but for the sake of transparency lets keep going by saying that he, on multiple occasions, blamed beth (the sister whom he did this to) as if it was her fault and took multiple digs about children and her inability to have at her expense. he puts his hands on her more than once as well. which. yeah, beth also does to him, and i don't disagree that anyone should be able to defend themselves- i do also think it's fucking weird the ways in which it happens and considering that he has clearly never respected her bodily autonomy i just personally don't care. she's not the only woman he has laid hands on either (a journalist whom he killed and sarah whom he was sleeping with) so one could say it's a pattern. i could keep going about the terrible things jamie has done but honestly, i'm not trying to sway your opinion of him if you still choose to have anything good to think about him after reading that or knowing that. i'm all set with that. all i ask if that you don't follow, don't interact, and quite frankly feel free to block me because it'll save us both the trouble.

Thank you for tagging me in this @queersouthasian
10 BL BOYS I WILL THROW HANDS FOR
Sky (Love in the Air)
Sky was dealt such a shitty hand in life and I'd do anything for him to be happy for the rest of it. Killing Sky's ex for instance! Though Prapai would have gotten to him way before me so I wouldn't have to worry about going that far 😅
Tumblr media
Uea (Bed Friend)
Very similar to Sky; Uea deserves so much better and if anyone tries to hurt him, you can meet me in the back of the Denny's parking lot.
Look... I'll be honest... it seems like I have a type when it comes to fave characters... Slightly fem guys with a hard exterior (usually because of trauma) and with devoted (future) boyfriends who have no problems submitting to them. On top of that they're usually characters that would be stereotyped as bottoms but don't have the stereotypical virginal innocence and seeming aversion to sex but instead own their sexuality, no matter what kinda kinks it involves. (honestly if you list any character in BL that fits this description, you've made a list of my favourite characters but that's for another time 😅)
Both Uea and Sky fit this description perfectly and as such I have sworn to protect them and their honor! 🗡️🛡️
Tumblr media
Seeiw (My Only 12%)
I adore Cooheart and I really connected with his portrayal of Seeiw. It's probably the closest a BL character has come to my own queer experience so it really just resonated with me. On top of that, him and Cake are just the cutest so of course I'd fight anyone who has beef with Seeiw.
Tumblr media
Li Ming (Moonlight Chicken)
He is just such a darling! And him and Heart's story was for sure my favourite in this show. They were such cute baby gays and I'd wanna protect them from all the negative parts of the world so bad.
Tumblr media
Zouey (Playboyy)
Zouey is one of my current darlings and every episode I'm hoping the show doesn't do him dirty.
To me he is a perfect example of someone who would like to have sex, just in less conventional ways, but so far none of the other characters are shown to be very accepting of this which makes me worried for his future in the story.
All I want is for him to be allowed to want and experience the kind of sex he wants without feeling like he needs to give more than he wants and I would fight many many people (Teena, his whole friend group, the writers of the show etc) for that to happen.
Him and Teena could have some of the hottest and most fulfilling sex if Teena just got with the program, understood that penetration isn't the end all be all of sex, and let Zouey take the wheel.
Tumblr media
Jaewon (The Eighth Sense)
In his case I don't need to just fight people (admittedly fictional people but still...) but also his own depression and survivors' guilt. If he wasn't already in therapy, that would be the first place I'd send him.
Don't get me wrong I'm very tempted to hunt down his old "friends" and give them a good talking to because they are some shit friends but I think Jaewon needs more support from people than for his old pals to get beaten up so I'll leave them be... For now!
Tumblr media
Sun Bo and Hao Ting (History 3: Make Our Days Count)
These two are some of my absolute favourites when it comes to BL characters but also friendships within BL. They're just such lovable himbos who are down bad for their respective future lovers while also being such good friends.
I'll admit every time I see someone say this show is bad I kinda want to throw hands but then I have to remind myself that taste is subjective and even if this is one of my absolute favourite BLs, it might not be everyone's cup of tea. I guess I'll just have to throw hands with anyone in the show who wants to harm these two sweethearts instead of fighting with people on the Internet.
Anyways, go watch this show!!
Tumblr media
Jom (I Feel You Linger in The Air)
Jom has been one of my favourites of 2023. He is just so tired of the situation but still just keeps going and caught himself a lover boy in the process.
He might not have trauma like Sky and Uea but he still fits my fave type of character pretty well so it's fair to say that he has my sword. And he has my bow... And my axe... Am I funny yet? 😄
Was actually thinking of reading the book because the show was so good but then I read someone say that the book ending was very similar in terms of vague hand waviness but maybe I'll read it while I'm in Thailand.
Second season when!?!?
Tumblr media
Name (Remember Me)
This show had such a good start and seemed to be going some really interesting places but then it slowly fell apart and Name was one of the characters who suffered because of this. He deserved so much better and I hope so badly that Title (the actor who played Name) gets a role in something else that's better because he seems to have a lot of potential.
Tumblr media
Honerable mention to the characters I'd throw down for but who definitely don't need it: AiDi (Kiseki: Dear to me), White (Not Me the series), and Ayan (The Eclipse the series).
I'll tag @itsasta, @mygwenchan, @emberfaye, and @dropthedemiurge but no pressure 😊

Loki and Sylvie is the result of narcissism gives me a migraine, perhaps they would have shared more similarities if she branched off much later, instead of as a young child. The series goes out its way to show how different they are, Sylvie had to change by being on the run all the time, and we are told Loki has been a “spoilt prince” for most of his life. Currently the two have as much in common as meeting a stranger because of how far their paths diverged.
 p1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think they knew what were doing regarding the love story arc in the show. Because the messaging is contradictory.
They said the theme is about self-love and self-acceptance. This would have worked, if Loki and Sylvie shared actual similarities. They could have showed Loki realizing how amazing he is through seeing the amazing traits both he and Sylvie share. But through the show Sylvie is shown the more competent one, the one who is truly different with other Lokis. So when Loki compliments her, it's only directed at her. Nothing of it is directed at himself.
The show also tries to tie this love with narcissism which doesn't make sense. Because as you said Sylvie and Loki are really different. So it also contradicts with the self-love theme. Not to mention that self-love is not narcissism.
Tying narcissism into this, also would apply to Sylvie. If she loves Loki, that makes her a narcissist too if we accept the show's POV. But NPD doesn't apply to either Loki or Sylvie. Her getting angry against Loki's disagreement is rooted in her trust issues, nothing more.
Loki would have lashed out in his confrontations with Sylvie if he was interested in her purely for narcissistic reasons, he would know his supply of unconditional love and agreement from her was impossible to attain.
This is also a very good point in refuting Loki having NPD.
Another theme of the show is forgiving yourself and they meant to show that in the scene where Loki tells Sylvie that he's been where she is. It shows Loki understands her anger and doesn't want her to be hurt because she makes decision out of that anger.
Sylvie doesn't listen and the creators say it's because she didn't have a Mobius and a therapy(!) session so she hasn't grown like Loki. Imo Loki was actually a good friend to Sylvie, while Mobius wasn't anything of the sort. Loki respected Sylvie, validated her grief, praised her strength and supported her while Mobius mostly manipulated, tortured and belittled Loki. So Loki should have been able to get through to Sylvie by the show's logic. I got off topic, but my point was the way Loki treated Sylvie and also Mobius who mostly didn't treat Loki well, is another thing that disproves he is a narcissist.
I haven't watched Sherlock Holmes(because everyone told me S4 was terrible) and Big Bang Theory(it's not my cup of tea). But I know autism community don't like Sheldon's portrayal as autism representation. And the thing is NPD doesn't have a cure. Sure, psychotherapy can help the person be treated and change in time. But as far as I know it takes a long time, sth around 5 years. And having NPD is definitely not sth that is the person's fault. It is not sth that the person can overcome by themselves. Even if Loki had NPD- which he doesn't and the fact that he showed self-awareness is another thing that refutes him having NPD- humiliating and torturing him definitely isn't the way to help him change. If anything it would have made him worse.
It blows my mind how Marvel treats these mental illnesses. When Tony and Loki are called(wrongly) narcissists(as in having NPD), the narrative portrays it like it's their fault. Like they chose to be that way. And even if they had NPD, that's a wrong approach and framing. You know which show treated this rightly? Lucifer. Lucifer is called s narcissist in the show and he is in fact showing narcissistic tendencies. But the narrative from the start treats him with compassion. Therapy is part of the show. And through it, not only Lucifer learns to be better, his pain is validated and not once he is humiliated because of it. And interestingly after 5 years of therapy, he has been through lots of great character development, has come a long way and changed for the better.
They could have treated Loki the same way. There was no need for years of therapy. They could have only make Mobius an actual good and understanding person who would validate Loki's pain without belittling him. But Marvel has never been kind to Loki.

This last chapter gave me the biggest ick. I struggled to even finish it, in the hopes that it would redeem itself. It's not even the yandere aspect - I like yandere , it's just so frustrating. Like... Nah fam - this woman is on a whole emotional roller-coaster (with really bad anxiety attacks) and instead of having a conversation or giving her space (you know, how to be around someone who is having an anxiety attack in a healthy way) they're all in her face with the 'angel, or beautiful baby'. Being like 'No you're not going to do that' Like.... What??? If I'm going to throw up from an anxiety attack and someone says No - 100% I will throw up on them. I actually can't deal with authors that use mental health as an integral part of their plot - only to completely misrepresent it and romanticize that shit.
That's so debilitating. I think I'm just gonna dip on this series. I used to really like this series and now I feel like it's just devolved into a guidebook on how not to behave around someone that has really bad anxiety and other mental health issues.
I know authors have creative freedom, but honestly this isn't it. Don't use mental health as a trope if you're just going to turn it into this ideation fantasy where y/n is a damsel that needs to be condescended to and treated like a child throwing a tantrum by grown men - HER ROMANTIC PARTNERS. Man this was a really shitty take .
I won't say much, because I've said it all before but this is why I put in the warnings of all of my yandere fics as unhealthy relationships/toxic relationships etc. Mental health is not a trope to me, it's something I, and many people, struggle with. However, I actively encourage everyone to treat my fics as existing in this fantasy world in which these relationships can never exist in our world in this way.
Also, a lot of people have different ways of dealing with anxiety attacks and sensory overload. Some people want to be coddled, some don't. It's pretty silly to assume it's the same for everyone, let alone assume a yandere fic will yield a healthy portrayal of significant others dealing such a topic.
None of my fics are a guidebook on anything, they're simply fiction. Fiction that, again, I actively state to treat as such. Yes, I do write somw of my experience as a chubby person and a person with mental illness, anxiety being one of them, but a yandere fic is not the place for proper care of a person with mental illness. It's a yandere fic. I know I'm repeating myself, but I feel the need to really bring that home.
Mental health is an integral part of literally any yandere fic because yanderes are walking red flags, and I have always stated my MCs all have issues and that's why they "work" in this fantasy world. It's an unhealthy relationship and my yanderes are love bombers to the max. They would absolutely suck irl, which is why this is fiction.
My fics aren't a "take" on anything, they're fiction and always will be. They are head empty erotic dark romance. I respect if that's not your cup of tea. I implore everyone who gets the ick from any of my fics to just stop reading right then as opposed to struggling through it and then coming into my ask box to make it my issue regardless of how many times I warn and state this exact thing. I literally always tell y'all to put yourself before my writing, and this is one of the many reasons why.
Please, don't read my stuff if you don't like it and please, don't be rude to me because you didn't like it.

8. Name any three things about the rpc that bother you.
Just three? jk
1) Anon Hate. It's 2021 and there's a block button that works SO well. If you don't like someone's content/opinions/portrayal/etc, block and move on. Sending hate is a waste of everyone's time and energy and for what? Someone might not be your cup of tea but they could very well could be someone else's and not liking their character isn't a good enough reason to send literal hate to them ?? I don't understand why people bother sending it, which is why I don't post. That shit doesn't deserve a platform to be heard on.
2) People that don't respect the block button and try to reach out afterwards, and I know this can be a controversial take, but hear me out. While it's nice to be told why someone chose to block you - you're not entitled to knowing. If they blocked you, assume it's because something made them uncomfortable, whether you meant to or not, and move on. Don't reach out via other blogs, don't try to loophole around their rules with the 'I assume tumblr glitched' because here's the thing, if tumblr glitched out and that mun still wants to write with you - they'll notice and rectify it. So cut your losses and move on.
3) The over sexualization of traumatized characters (who happen to be attractive) for the sake of a ship. Sometimes I think people 'collect' certain characters ( bucky/steve/wanda/yelena ) for the sake of shipping with all of them, even if the ship doesn't a) have chemistry or b) sacrifices a character's integrity to work. I'm not saying these characters can't be shipped or shouldn't be, but it's frustrating to see them ( and their muns ) used purely for shipping purposes &/or trying to write out a personal fantasy.

Hi! I'm the anon from before! Oh, thank God. I was worried I upset you because JB shippers get so defensive when someone is critical of their ship or Jaime (btw I'm a Brienne stan before a JB shipper.)
I think your story is so great and feminist... the fact that Brienne was allowed to be angry at Jaime and make the choice to fuck Addam and still be the doting mother and a warrior who inspires women (also thank you for no boring Sansa/Brienne friendship). I loved how she said "fuck that" to any of Jaime's weakass explanations and whenever that bitch was like, "are we good? have you forgiven me? can we fuck?" and she just went like "wtf no you're the worst." like YES. It fucking bothered me the way those S8 apologists defended Jaime's "addiction" and liked the offensive disgusting white book scene. FFS LET WOMEN BE ANGRY. LET WOMEN HAVE A STORYLINE THAT ISN'T TIED TO SOME GARBAGE MAN. LET WOMEN SLEEP WITH MEN INSTEAD OF THEIR ASSIGNED LOVE INTERESTS AND LET THEM ENJOY IT TOO. LET WOMEN BE BITTER AND UNFORGIVING AND COMPASSIONATE AND MOTHERLY AND BRAVE AND AWESOME AT THE SAME TIME. ALL THESE THINGS CAN EXIST IN ONE WOMAN. IT'S ALLOWED. AND BRIENNE IS NO BETTER OR WORSE IF SHE CHOOSES TO BE UNFORGIVING. I HATE DUDEBROS.
I don't think you should be unhappy with your story! Your story has amazing dialogue and internal thoughts, well-rounded characters, and Brienne of Tarth being awesome. If anything, you were too nice to Jaime by having him be happy and giving him a purpose. You should subvert my expectations, lovely author! Don't have Brienne forgive Jaime and get into a relationship with him! Make her kick him to the curb! Break his heart! Piss on his corpse! Probably JB shippers will be mad at you but I've got your back. The REAL Brienne fans know that Jaime did Brienne so dirty, and no bs addiction or duty can justify that!
Ok that's enough... and WTF why would people think your fic is controversial. IMO we should bully the writers who had Brienne easily forgive Jaime and take him back just like that. Fuck them all. I only respect YOU. You got me into shipping Addam/Bri and also validated my anger. Also I was busy, didn't know you updated your fic. Gonna read it now. Not gonna lie, I'll be a little upset if she chooses Jaime because I thought the glass throwing scene was written to show the tragic end of their relationship and how there's no coming back, but I did want to know your thoughts.
Bless you, kind reader.
I’ve had a lot of thoughts about why my fic is considered controversial. The subject matter in it really isn’t that “dark” in the traditional fic sense. There’s no rape or major character death, it’s not torture porn or anything. And yet, there was rage about it on Reddit, it was banned from being discussed on Discord, and a BNF decided (very hurtfully, I might add) to call me out on Twitter because she had formed a judgement based solely on my tags. I have also been blocked by numerous people in the fandom that I have never so much as had an interaction with. I’ve also had a LOT of shitty comments and anons here and there from people who seem really angry that I had the temerity to write this fic.
That genuinely surprised me. I knew it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea - what fic is? But there have been times when I have felt like a total pariah and not wanted to interact with other members of the fandom in case they feel the same way. Whatever way you slice it, that’s shitty behaviour.
Largely, when we ship something, particularly when it’s an OTP, we think of that relationship as an ideal. It’s escapism, it’s perfect in ways that our real relationships never can be. I think that’s why, for so many of us, 8.04 was really devastating. Jaime and Brienne are also a ship about acceptance and understanding, of a deep connection that transcends surface impressions - they both see each other for who they really are. That means a LOT to us, I think. I think we all long for that kind of relationship and exploring it in our fandom gives all of us so much happiness. We are in love with their love.
In their portrayal of the JB relationship, D&D ABSOLUTELY got that wrong. I absolutely do not dispute that. I think a LOT of people were angry with me because they confused what I was writing as being supportive of D&D’s take in some way, because I treated it as canon. Some writers were able to paper over the end of the show, dismiss it as bad writing and move on, or write fic where Jaime changes his mind, Brienne forgives him, and then they carry on with what we wanted.
I just couldn’t do that. God knows I tried. But if I had been in Brienne’s position, I absolutely would have been as pissed as fuck about what Jaime did. I don’t accept that he went back for Cersei as a brother, or that Brienne wasn’t crying for herself but only for him and his lost honour. Being dumped HURTS, particularly when you loved someone and thought you had a future, and then he walks out in the middle of the night without saying goodbye. Brienne had SO MUCH backstory about being hurt and humiliated by men, having the first man who loved her, the man she gave her virginity to, treat her that way would fuck her up.
I’m not saying that anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, and I never have. I don’t have the definitive knowledge of these characters, none of us do. I only have my take, my experience, my style.
I just couldn’t write about their relationship as being idyllic and perfect any more. Is it a reflection of who I am as a person and as a writer? That’s certainly been the accusation several dozen times. Maybe. It’s certainly a reflection of how I feel women put up with too much shit from men and are expected to be kind and forgiving in return. I HATE that with a passion.
Angry women are really controversial. They make people of all genders feel very uncomfortable. Sexually confident women do, too, and I think my story was the perfect storm of those two elements, really. People who want escapism from realistic relationships where people don’t live happily-ever-after really took exception to its very existence.
I don’t hold it against anyone for it not being their cup of tea, or if they disagree with my take. God knows there are kajillions of fics out there that aren’t my bag too. Things I’ve rolled my eyes at, things I’ve fundamentally disagreed with, things I’ve been horrified to read. But not once have I ever felt the need to be a public douchebag about it. I’ve never felt the need to make a writer stop writing.
So thank you so much for taking the time to send me this. It does make a really nice change to get an anon be so positive and affirming to me as a writer!
I really hope that you enjoy the end of the story. And that you will enjoy the reboot in a few weeks where we stick with Brienne’s POV and I turn the volume down on some of the elements that I don’t like about the story myself. Not the rage though, or the Addam banging. That’s staying!
