Annon-Guy: Now that all three are out... what are your thoughts on Omni-Man, Peacemaker and Homelander as Guest Kharacters in Mortal Kombat 1?

P.S. Between Omni-Man's train Fatality and Homelander's airplane Fatality, my friend told me the airplane is WORSE in terms of the body count 🥶...

To be honest I'm still somewhat off-put by the nature of MK1 being a Tag-fighting game.

Of the three you mentioned, Peacemaker seems to be the most appealing to me personally (side note: Peacemaker is voiced by Koyasu Takehito in the new Isekai anime film, aka Zato's voice actor).

I can't say I'm entirely a fan of Omni-Man or Homelander, though I suppose I understand why some find them appealing in an MK game.

I used to play Injustice 2 a lot, though I felt that game was more engaging with DC characters, whereas these characters feel like a pastiche of any famous super heroes written about in the past.

On the whole, Mortal Kombat always felt more engaging with its East-Asian themes (i.e. Chinese Ninjas, Shaolin Monks, Kung Fu elements and so on). Adding Western elements seemed like a huge genre shift, if I'm being honest.

I've always been a bigger fan of the Cyborg Ninjas and Kabal in terms of who appeals more to me. Spawn was okay, I guess, as were Predator, Robo-Cop, Terminator, and the Alien Xenomorph.

Still, Ed Boon knows how to make games fun, and I've always appreciated his efforts in that regard and how in-touch he is with the MK fanbase.

As for this request, I love Deacon so much (I think I just have a soft spot for silly guys w sunglasses tbh???? Because I also love Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat) Deacon deserves way more love though, I don't think I ever would've romanced him personally, but I do wish the option was there for the Deacon lovers.

Deacon with a 'Gullible' Sole

Deacon doesn't question it initially, most people tend to fall for his lies, apart from the likes of his fellow Railroad agents, who are more than used to his antics.

Besides, saying he's a synth isn't exactly something that Sole can disprove, unless they plan on killing him to find out, which doesn't sound like an ideal outcome, if you ask him.

But when Sole seems to believe his claim that he's the real leader of the Railroad, no questions asked, he starts to wonder if he's just a good liar or if Sole is somewhat naïve.

He decides to test out his theory, seeing how bold his lies can be until Sole stops falling for them.

At first, he starts small. "Hey, did you know I once beat a Super Mutant to death with a box of Sugar Bombs?"

They eventually get more outlandish, until he's effortlessly convincing Sole that Carrington is a Brahmin, who became sentient and has a really good surgeon.

He has more fun than he expects to, telling the most ridiculous lies he can think of, coming up with intricate stories behind them, more to entertain himself than anything.

Eventually he starts to feel a little guilty about all the lying, surely, this is just bullying at this point, especially when Sole believes him wholeheartedly every single time.

So, he decides to come clean... Well, Glory insists he comes clean, by threatening to put a dead bloatfly in his bed.

Much to his surprise, when he tells Sole the truth, they simply nod and tell him that they've known all along.

He hadn't planned for this outcome, and it starts to make him question the whole situation. Who'd been fooling who?

Sole explains that they'd known he was lying after taking a look at the 'recall code' he'd given them and after that, they'd just enjoyed seeing how creative his lies could get.

Admittedly, Deacon can't help but be impressed that, for once in his life, he's the one being tricked.

But he will make a point to dramatically sulk about it for a few days, his pride is a little hurt after all.

When he receives them he becomes silent and needs to realize

Holding on a conversation is not his best

So he prefers to stay silent and listen to others talk

He is an excellent listener

Syzoth has the habit of scratching his face repeatedly especially when he is in the presence of others

He doesn't even know why he has this tic

Probably to have the excuse to move and not stare too much at others while they talk to him

He loves children

When his wife got pregnant he was terrified being young

But when his son was born he realized he wanted many more

He is good at cooking typical Zaterrans dishes

He's terrible at cooking human dishes

Being part reptile, it seeks the sun with need

In his free time he can spend hours sitting under the sun

He prefers to spend time alone for fear that his habits will be seen as strange

For example eating, Syzoth knows that eating insects may seem disgusting

He loves caramel on bugs

As a child he was gluttonous for it (not that he isn't now)

He always prepared sweet flies for his son

Cage told him about the legends of the reptilians living in the sewers in NY

Syzoth is now convinced that they really are there

He rarely takes off his hood, it's as if it makes him feel safer

He is attracted to different cultures and always has questions ready about them

But he knows that his own is not well received and he doesn't share anything about it

He takes great care of his nails once he returns to human form

They tend to grow much faster after being clawed

A deep dive into the MK1 cinematics (PT1?)

Hi, I'm a nerd and I like breaking apart scenes for small details and hidden meanings that adds to the overall story. For my first official post on The Collective Fixation blog, Mortal Kombat 1 is going to be topic subject today. I’ll be talking about random scenes in the game and trailer that I found really cool and some of the relationships between characters. (I actually blame my family for introducing me to MK1 the other month and I’ve literally not stopped thinking about it so lets get into it hehehe.)

!WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Ok MK1 is definitely in my top three list of best looking cinematics in video games.

This scene from the trailer was my favourite because it uses the lighting in the building as a medium for foreshadowing. Scorpion (Kuai Liang) being in the warm, bright lighting while Sub-Zero (Bi-Han) being in the cool, dark lighting. The light side referring to Liu Kang as he is first seen with light around him as he ascends down and Shang Tsung representing the dark side as he steps out of dark shadows revealing himself in the trailer. Foreshadowing the betrayal and the two sides of the story that occurs further on in the story.

When Smoke first gets introduced he is seen under red light which can indicate danger or a sense of evil, paired with the dramatic shift in music from calming to almost a startling shift into a intense music. This convinces the audience to think that he is the antagonist in that current moment. The extreme close up on his face shows off his emotions, which is difficult to do since he has the mask on, so actors have to get creative with their facial expressions. We see this with the intense look Smoke has when surveying the area, indicated with his eyebrows and eyes. Also the camera pans left to show off more red light on his face. The camera is below his face making a low camera angle, low camera angles most commonly indicate a sense of power, strength and intimidation to the subject in frame.

(Side note: Live Laugh Love low camera angles, you see them so much in this game and I love itttttt)

The film codes (technical and symbolic) in the scenes between Johnny Cage and Kenshi Takahashi play an important part in the growth of their relationship. When Kenshi is revealed to the audience, the camera pans up from his feet to his sword to his face leaving in at a low camera angle. This increases dramatic tension by slowly revealing to the audience what Johnny sees. When taking in account of the music changing to a upbeat fighting kind of soundtrack the audience makes the conclusion of you guessed it danger, antagonist.

(Ofc cause he isn't the actual villain in the game but as the time he is lol)

(Side note: i love the way the game developers made it so the cameras seems hand held or on a dolly and not fixed in place, seems like we are in the game/story experiencing everything with the characters.)

Not that important but I love how the light from the pool reflects off both Johnny and Kenshi, its all about the details.

Now lets talk about THE SLOW MO BETWEEN JOHNNY AND KENSHI. Gotta admit, it caught me off guard a little, because normally a slow mo is used to focus on a character’s emotional reaction to a person, place or event in that current moment. And after thinking long and hard, I have come up with a conclusion on why the directors made this decision.

To show the tension between Johnny and Kenshi. Kenshi at the beginning of the story does not like Johnny or his ideals, its shown between dialogue when talking about their reasons to becoming Earthrealm defenders and Kenshi disapproval. And is the base of why they interact in the first place, because Kenshi wants Sento and Johnny wont give it over. The slow mo focuses on kenshi’s facial expression of aggravation and intensity about his fight with Raiden and about Johnny’s bad sport man ship in the previous scene with Johnny vs Raiden when Johnny’s ego was talking was basically he talked down Raiden’s abilities. This contrasts Kenshi’s ideals of honour.

(side note again, I haven't done a full deep dive on their characters nor have I done a deep dive on a character so I may have gotten some stuff wrong but I haven't fully played the entire game yet I'm like halfway rn so yea)

This probably isn't surprising at all, but I love Fushiita!!! Something about stoic guys melting and being affectionate with bright, kind, mischievous boyfriends just tickles me yk

2. Nobamaki

A strong upperclassman who watches her cheeky, abrasive underclassman with fondness and interest-- there's more to their relationship that I like of course, their connection as 'the girls' that draws them closer, Nobara's instant respect and softness in regards to Maki, and how protective she becomes of her at the exchange event. I like to think Maki is protective towards her in a different but no less meaningful way. Protectiveness is one of my favourite tropes-- ik it's cheesy but it is!!!

3. Chosoyuki

Now, these two man... These two... I just love how she's so confident and outspoken, and how she saw Choso and went 'yeah. That one.' -- I loved their little date, even if he cried ((LOVE a good pathetic man)), and how she made him think differently about himself and his situation.

4. Satosugu

The soulmatery of these 2... The homosexuality of these 2..... They're unmated. A real Sasunaru descendant.

5. InuIta

I wasn't that into them, to be honest, but my friends and I quote that 'Inumaki-senpai! Shake!' scene in s2 all of the time. Eventually, I started to think of them as kind of cute, and then I tried writing them and found Inumaki is a really fun character to write! I love his mischievousness and dedication to protecting his friends (relegated to a life of speaking solely in onigiri ingredients... nah that's probably one of the perks for him).

JJK BrOTP

It's GOTTA be Nobara and Yuuji. The friendship between these two is awesome, I love how she started out thinking of him as an idiot, and then got to know him and realised that yeah he's an idiot, but he's also a little bit fun to have around sometimes. Nah jk, I love how they're 2 peas in a pod, both crazy, both from the countryside, both just as silly as each other. I really love watching them hang out in the few eps we get of that, and the juju strolls they're both in-- they're just awesome!

Mortal kombat: Heartful mayhem

Prologue

A/N: I knew a prologue is not really necessary on a Tumblr fanfiction, but i did it anyway since i want to write a novel level one (this is my first time writing a fanfic for the internet but idc).

It's a quiet afternoon. Jacqueline Briggs is sitting alone in the room full of computers, apparently in front of one of them, looking very focused. She looks through the files that had been entering the S.F.'s database for a few days now.

Those files in question are reports coming from squads that were sent one after the other to patrol and scavenge a specific area of Outworld, which is somewhere in the desert.

The investigation of these strange occurences of this location was placed into Jacqui's care by Cassandra Cage, her Commander, her best friend.

Jaqueline has been investing for at least five days now. It all started when odd fires were occuring in the already hot desert of Outworld.

The soldier reads the files of the most recent squad that retreated from the desert yesterday in the evening.

Suddenly, the door opens. Jacqui looks at it with surprise.

"Hey Jacqui. You found anything?" It's Cassandra, coming with a freshly made cup of coffee in one hand, checking on her friend.

Jacqui looks back at the screen. "No. Still nothing moved since yesterday." She sighted, slightly disappointed.

Commander Cage looks at a chair and rolls it towards her.

"Dawn. Nothing?." She asks as she takes a seat and approaches Jacqui's desk.

"That's odd. I thought the thermal signatures would have moved right now."

"They're isn't though". Jacqui said back.

"It hasn't been moving for hours now. The source of the fire probably went dormant on our radars."

Cassie takes a sip of coffee, looks down upon her chair and sights. "And we sent all these troops for four days. Jeez... if i knew that it would be a pain in the ass to identify the source of that fire, i would've speared the skin of these men." Some soldiers came back with first degree burns, others were heavily bruised. A few are still recovering at the nursery.

Jacqui glimpses worrysomely at her friend, then remembers something. "You know? I've got something interesting that caught my eye earlier."

Cage looks back at Briggs dragging the mouse around the screen and clicks on a picture icon in the report.

"Look." She says as she points at the blurry photo.

Cassie examines it closely. "Huh... all i see is some pink fire." She keep looking it in silence. "Hang on! What the hell is that?" Cassie points an odd shape that seems humanoid.

"I know." Jacqui responds "I also believe it's this thing that was firing up at our troops and injure them. It seem to be resisting our forces."

Cassie thinks longly about the matter.

"What is it commander?" Jacqui asked.

"We need to send people who are more skilled for this." Cassie responds. "If we continue sending our normal troops, they're will be more casualities. We literally can't risk it anymore."

Jacqui looks away briefly from Cassie, then questions "Well, who do you think we should call to go back there?"

"Come on... you know who." Cassie smirks.

"Oh." Jacqui realises who she is talking about.

Cassie storms out of the room, on her way to give a call or two for tommorow's preparations. Meanwhile, Jacqui is inserting names into the investigation's team file.

There were only two names added. But they knew how important they were for the case, and knew they won't fail it...

If Tony was Bi Han he would have said so, iirc he was one of the first people to announce that he was a face model. I see no reason why he would hide.

Ibere is the best possibility I've seen so far, I wouldn't be surprised he's spooked by all the Bi Han thirst.

For the most part, the "Actor spooked by Bi-Han Thirst" bit was a joke on my part. Most of the time, the face models know what to expect if they google "[my character name] rule 34."

I see no real reason why Nakamura would deny being the character and no real reason why WB/NRS would not kredit him. That man is gorgeous. He's probably been handling nerd thirst since grade school.

I would think that claiming credit for Bi-Han (or any character that the internet is thirsty for) would only net him a higher paycheck. For a man who is so beautiful that companies literally hire him for his beauty, internet thirst and horny on main blogging are probably a nuisance at worst. I hope it is the least of his worries.

And I agree that Tony Chung would have said so. He has no reason not do so. Like, "Humblebrag but I am BOTH of these gorgeous motherfukkas." It isn't like he needed to hide his involvement in the game in any way - he already took credit for Scorpion.

Again, I believe the model is someone that is named in the kredits. WB has enough trouble with the actors'/trade unions right now without doing something so egregious as outright failure to credit a cast member. On the other hand, they can get away with a partial failure. If the actor's name is listed in the credits, but the credit given was for some smaller thing (Example: Additional Voices) it is harder to penalize them for that.

Because they can argue that he was in the credits, with no breech of contract.

Also, Stephen currently has bigger fish to fry, it seems. He wants to get in to the MCU as Martin Li in live action.

Claiming he was Sub-Zero's face model might help towards that goal, but more likely would hinder it. I trust him to know what's gonna help his career most. Disney / MCU wants their actors' net/film history to be squeaky clean, even for their villains. Mortal Kombat is particularly gory in its violence in a way that Spiderman is not. And let's face it, Sub-Zero is the fatality dummy. All of the worst shock-value moments are practiced on Sub-Zero first. You know the ones.

It might not be something Disney wants associated with Spider-Man.

Stephen also openly admitted that there is some legal issues that need to be addressed between videogame actors in Sag-Aftra, Sag-Aftra itself, and game developers. So there's no telling how much cooperation he gets from SAG if he does take an action toward getting himself and the other models properly credited.

I'm just saying he's one of the only people who might have logical reasons for not promoting his work on Mortal Kombat.

I can still be wrong. It's just my best guess.

My name is Corey, Im transmasc going by he/him pronouns. I am autistic so most of my post will be on my current interest at that moment. (Rn it being mortal Kombat, horror, aliens, and cowboys)

My account is art driven, I'm not the best at writing but I could write some head canons that I have for characters. (Or anything that let's me talk about my interest 😚)

-I will be willing to draw anything so long that 1. It isn't harmful to anyone and 2. Is sfw.

-I will be willing to draw semi nude pieces but nothing to explicit.

-I can do a little bit of gore but I won't go crazy with it.

-I mainly prefer drawing men, but that doesn't mean I can't draw women as well.

never thought i would be publishing a bunch of artpieces in connection with my delicious mortal kombat ocs but.. it happened anyway ^_^

some information about these two lovelies (i just can't resist having such a boring and pitiful oc blogs with no special statements or keypoints to be added.) (there are some hidden lore I've planned for them but I shall elaborate those kind of statistics soon in the future. i'll never debate on myself if i'm going to take that somberly or not.. my motivation is deflated into BRICKS LMAO)

- A clever and incomprehensible individual airing from Earthrealm (Birthplace: Greece, Heraklion City + she is half greek and half persian).

- Ever since her historical teenage years, she always had a passionate talent for Astrology but some people seem to bombard her with crítiques and unwanted inquiries during those moments.

- Geras is a father figure to her and Kenshi Takahashi is more of a refined brother figure to her although they aren't biological related, their mature demeanour and bond over their past traumas made their correlation stronger. (She considers both of them as family and feels particularly comfortable with to be around them)

- Her companion is a bird (Falcon)

- Her abilities refer to the illuminating stars and moon.

- Ship Tease: With Smoke/Tomas Vrbada.

- Another mysterious and peculair woman airing from an unknown world. She isn't seen to be communicating much with countless of individuals if Havik isn't around or it somewhat depends on her perspective.

- She unravels a seductive and lovelorn aura towards her beloved one (coughs.. Towards none other than Havik only.)

- Her abilities refer to mirror manipulation.

- A bang which seems to be occupying her forehead is concealing a third eye which can only be awoken if she truly desires to unleash such an in describable and intoxicating sense of ability.

- Her companion appears to be an eyeball

I’m looking to write about animal mk men- and just like to start writing in general🌝 do you have any tips or advice??

mmmm, well, i've been writing and posting only for a few months (if we exclude my middle school phase). but, i wrote a lot in middle school and high school for classes (which was just mainly essays, but it helped me get the flow down of sentences and grammar and what not).

i guess some tips about writing in general is to just practice and to read a lot. my first fic ever on this blog was my second time writing smut, but before that, i read an ungodly amount of fics and seeing how other people structured their sentences and what words they used helped a lot with how i now write my stories.

definitely don't force yourself to write if you don't have the energy or are too busy because quality is always better than quantity (ironic of me to say, but i digress). getting yourself into the mood is also always a great idea, and make sure you have water near you and maybe a snack when you're writing.

regarding writing mk specifically, i'm online chronically (unfortunately), so i've seen a lot of clips of the mortal kombat characters over and over again and that sort of helps with characterizing them in my stories. also, i've read a lot of fics regarding mk characters, and that also helps as well to make sure they sort of seem in character.

regarding animal/beasty stuff, um, i mean, look up the behaviors of the animals if you can, just some basic research to make the characters believable if it's not just straight-up smut.

um, i hope this helps. i know it isn't terribly specific, but getting into writing is the first and hardest step. i believe in you! and hey, if you ever want to drop the fic in here, i'll definitely go and read it.
