jayvik yap (again!) but also caitvi yap
Free me from jayvik i cannot stand season 2 viktor
Bear with me.
Maybe I need to work out some personal issues but something in me just can't fw someone who was basically in the same position a corrupt religious leader AND committed genocide. I still quite liked him when he started the commune, but once I saw that he was controlling Salo (then the whole thing where Salo wasn't actually breathing) I was like Viktor bro what the hell. Like, if we're gonna call Mel a manipulator (she wasn't, at least not to the point that people should be vilifying her for it as much as they do) then there's gotta be a whole nother word invented for Viktor.
And I hate that I hate him because I know he himself had been changed by the arcane but it's like. How did he completely switch from being this progressive scientist to deciding he needed to rule the world. The machine herald was not Viktor and I can't even pretend I wanted the best for him.
Plus—this is more of a sidenote really—Viktor was one of my favorites in season one and I guess I always perceived him as being aromantic? The way he overlooked Sky's intentions (and I mean he completely ignored them, not that he even rejected her) and only seemed to care for his work (honestly seemed like he cared for it moreso than Jayce) reminded me of myself a little, and though I'm still working through it I'm pretty sure I'm aro. But that's just me obviously.
I didn't ship jayvik romantically in season one because I didn't really see any reason to. Jayce said viktor was like a brother bruh, I took him at his word. Then season 2 came along and I understood why jayvik was a ship because they gave us so much jayvik, but in doing so the creators kind of destroyed their dynamic as two independent men.
I think their codependence really killed it for me. Or rather, Jayce's dependence on Viktor. In season 1 Jayce had other goals and passions but in season 2 his entire story was "save viktor save viktor save viktor." Which makes sense because Viktor was in the trenches, but basically his role as a councilor, his relationship with literally any other character, his Hextech dream, his literal girlfriend, were all skimmed over in favour of Viktor. All his other responsibilities were given a scene or two to remind people that they existed, but there wasn't much of an intersection between it all, and it felt like fanservice to me; people talked about him leaving Viktor for Mel (cough cough their sex scene, even though in comparison to caitvi's, I think was done really well) and politics so in this season he left everything else for Viktor, which felt kind of uncharacteristic because in season 1 he had a life. He had to make certain choices. He felt more human to me, so to say. There were obviously bigger issues than him being the man of progress but I just feel like they kind of got rid of that part of his character. And then there was the whole thing with Viktor where he became this manipulative machine who, by the way, completely tossed Jayce to the side yet could only be saved by his noncanonical boyfriend? Like brother eughhhh.
idk it felt like in season 2 the characters changed so quickly it gave me whiplash. And I feel the same about season 2 caitvi—caitlyn was SO dislikable i'm so sorry and vi underwent the most insane character assassination in human history (ok maybe not but still). Like wym Cait's mom died so she decided to gas the lanes, and that she got away with joining a dictator. And wym she randomly switched sides the moment Vi called her cupcake. Like, her grief was completely valid but all of the sympathy she'd had for people in the undercity died because of one person. Hate to break it to y'all but that is NOT a normal reaction to your mom dying.
Plus, her gasing the lanes and didn't add any nuance to her character, it just reinforced her privilege. I think her attack on Jinx can be compared to the attack on the council memorial (particularly Renni coming for Jayce over the death of her son, because she went for Jayce directly and on her own). Caitlyn attacked half of a nation in turmoil in search of one person, and she had shiny new weapons that—if she made the choice—she'd never have to wield again if she didn't want to. The zaunites who attacked the council memorial were fighting a nation which had been oppressing them for centuries using a drug that was actively killing them. They outwardly attacked a memorial for council members who had done nothing for them, while cait poisoned air which her mother had made breathable. Those two events were both morally reprehensible, but they were not in any way the same.
Another thing that stuck out to me was that, in season two, there's this kid who acts as a recurring extra. A little boy wearing a face mask because he'd been affected by Jinx redirecting the gas. He is portrayed multiple times, but what of the kids in the lanes? The kids who were already probably working in the mines and breathing in gods know what. Isha didn't have a mask. Huck and Viktor's other refugees didn't have masks. The only people in the undercity who had access to masks were chem barons and their associates. What about the kids in the lanes? It doesn't matter if she was careful in how she chose to use the gas. Arcane shows again and again that people are always caught in the crossfire.
And then Vi. Homegirl would never fuck someone in a cell her sister was just in after said sister practically said she was going to KILL HERSELF???? Gang what happened to the Vi who would chase Powder to the ends of the earth. Yes, Ekko needed to be the one to talk Jinx out of killing herself, but why did the reason that vi got held up have to be that she was "feeling fantastic????" Her pit fighter era actually did make sense because she thinks with her fists when she's overwhelmed, but I think we skipped over the fact that she was a literal alcoholic a little too quickly. Also, again, she was codependent on Caitlyn, which doesn't sit right again because Caitlyn is an oppressor. Like there's no other way to put it. And she had Vi on a leash.
Idk it just feels like the writers forgot some major personality aspects of the people they wrote about. Vi and Jayce are immensely independent. That's why they both have the whole protector thing going on. Jayce wasn't some dumb himbo—he single-handedly invented Hextech as a student in university. Viktor helped him make it safe and useable but it was Jayce's invention. Let's not pretend that he was immensely smarter than Jayce. He wasn't. Jayce was a neerdddd. And Vi survived prison, with actual convicts, as a 15 year old serving time she didn't deserve. Let's not act as if they aren't two very independent individuals who can't go it alone.
It doesn't help that, in focusing on the jayvik and caitvi conflicts, the show kind of lost the plot about being a conflict between Piltover and Zaun. Sucks even more because those are the two major Piltoveran-Zaunite relationships, and their perspectives on the conflict, as well Heimerdinger's (as founder of both), Ekko's (as a reformer of sorts) and maybe even Mel's (as a deeply involved foreigner) , would've been the most interesting to see.
Idk that's just me.

every time i come to your blog im smacked in the face with how pretty it is also regpeter????
as a collector of rare pairs i
MUST
know
thank you ‼️
giggling and kicking my feet..... thank you so much!!
I have so many opinions about regpeter it's crazy..... they're a parasite in my brain eating up all of my other thoughts. allow me to yap about them in depth now:
their dynamic in any au/setting is easy for me to picture but hard for me to verbalize... I heavily subscribe to modern au regpeter where pete is this shy stoner type and reg is his cunty goth bf (thank you jen for coming up with that!!) but I mostly think of them in a more canon compliant sense.
I think they're drawn to each other because, at heart, they're both followers. peter prefers not having to think for himself/ likes just going with the flow because he's friends with very headstrong people, and it's easier to just do what they're doing. and regulus does pretty much the exact same thing, he follows his parents' word because that's what's expected of him, he doesn't bother thinking too much about what being a death eater represents or entails. they're cowardly people pretending they're not, unable to confide in their loved ones about their true feelings because 1. it's frowned upon to be so unopinionated and 2. they're too scared to. this is why I think they find so much solace in each other. regulus for sure believes that muggles are beneath him but I don't think he agrees with killing them. not because he thinks their lives have just as much value as his, but because he's like 17 and murder is fucking terrifying. he takes the mark and immediately regrets it because he's being forced to act now, he can't just nod along and pretend he's so enthusiastic about voldys cause. peter's situation is so similar it's actually kind of funny....
he joins the order because the other three did, and because maybe he thought it would buy him more protection in the war, but now he's being sent on missions and the more things develop, the more scary it gets. he sees other order members get injured or die and he sees how determined they are to kill the least amount of people as possible, opting to try and imprison the death eaters rather than take them out completely. peter quickly understands that this isn't where he'll be safest, so when he's given the chance to switch sides.... he does.
peter gets the mark just like reg, they're both in voldys inner circle, so I imagine they see each other at meetings. I think peter would take one look at the people in that room, see regulus, a sort of familiar face, and absolutely cling to him. he tries his hardest to always sit next to him, looks to him for approval whenever he has to speak. regulus is weirded out at first but the longer they talk and sort of float around each other, the more he understands that peter is a lot like him. eventually, he gets the full story on peters' betrayal, complex feelings included, and for the first time in his life, regulus has someone he can genuinely relate to. he feels like he can finally breathe, like he has someone on his team. they're both objectively bad people, but they're a very similar brand of bad that nobody else on the Dark side is. they can tell each other their worst thoughts and know that the other won't judge them because they likely feel the exact same way about something else.
i think they each feel immense guilt for their choices (peter, for betraying his friends; regulus for being exactly who sirius says he is), they just don't have the courage or reason to change their situations (yet). since this whole thing has been pretty canon compliant, I'm not sure if they would ever define their relationship in concrete terms.... but the feelings are definitely there!! it's very private, very secretive, absolutely nobody knows. at meetings, they're just like everyone else there: closed off, cold, aloof. they don't really talk to each other, peter quickly stops looking at regulus so much. but behind closed doors... they're wrapped around each other in utter silence, just allowing themselves to breathe. sometimes they talk, sometimes they do other things, sometimes they just sit and do nothing.
I haven't really considered what would happen after the whole horcrux situation, how regulus' choice would change things between them, but I imagine that their quiet tranquility would probably end. if reg tells him at all, pete would 100% try to talk him out of going to the cave. the idea that they're both cowards, but given the right circumstances, they can force themselves to be brave is really interesting to me, especially given what they each chose to be brave about. because reg did manage to gather the courage to do the right thing, despite how hard it must have been to go against his family. but peter didn't. he just got worse, summoning his own courage to give up james and lily, to frame sirius, to kill those muggles, to do all of these things until he wasn't scared of doing them anymore. it's just something that scratches my brain....
this got really long I'm so sorry. I'm not even sure if it even describes their relationship the way I intended but oh well!

Larson is such a fun villain, istg.
He's laughing at other order members' aspirations for wealth (money, mansions and a place in the society) while owning exactly all that, and I believe not all of his posessions are inherited. Meaning, he used his arcane knowledge to get all this.
Also this was simply hilarious. Larson: We have gods in us. Arthur, you and I, we have touched the otherworldly and we have lived. We have truly lived, you must feel it! The power that comes with… with having such a being inside. It’s… amazing. Arthur *lost his sight, an arm and a foot, suffered countless horrors, gained numerous scars in a span of a few months, basically lost everything he had before opening the book and can barely function on his own*: ...............
And Larson's lying on the floor with 3 gunshot wounds, just been tortured by Arthur, has undeniably lost the fight, his godly patron is losing to John, and YET he finds some energy to laugh at Yellow. Amazing. The best villain of the series so far, really.
This is actually why Larson is my favourite villain of the whole story so far - he doesn't appear to be scary. To keep reality in check and correctly determine the level of the opponent one has to have a healthy amount of fear. It's a good feeling, it warns against danger and helps to escape it or deal with it. You know how they advise to deal with frightening things you can't just take on? To imagine them as funny. What is funny cannot be scary unless it's some very obvious and real danger.
Larson is pretty funny most the time. He jokes, he mostly doesn't raise his voice, keeping it even, he doesn't let any imposing emotions escape into the outside world. Even frustrated, he mostly sounds just mildly irritated at best. He keeps a very friendly or patronizing tone, like "we're all buddies here, aren't we!".
He is NOT scary in the slightest. He doesn't appear to be dangerous.
While being actually capable of very horrendous things and having done them. He has no empathy or sympathy towards others whatsoever and will do anything to get what he wants.
Every other villain so far had something scary in their image. Even Kayne, the "funniest" of them, has his abrupt changes in the intonation and can sound very intimidating. He CAN be scary and appears so from time to time. It's really hard to mistake him for someone friendly, unlike Larson, based oh his demeanor alone.
This divide in how he appears and what he actually does is what I like about Larson because of how invisibly terrifying that is. He's a person who I hope dies as soon as possible in Dreamlands for everything he's done (and, more importantly, he's far worse influence than Arthur and I'm worried for Yellow who hasn't regained his KiY persona in full yet, so it's best not to be subjected to Larson's yapping), but I immensely enjoyed him as a villain. It was lots of fun.

HOW TO WRITE A GOOD ARTIST CV
A well prepared CV is the corner stone of any application, but unlike financial advisors, marketeers and other professionals, artists can’t really do much with the standard form that so many others use — aka. we usually aren’t employed anywhere and McDonalds doesn’t really count.
So, for the love of god, no Europass or other automatic service. There is no place for them in the art world — unless your trying to get an internship at a gallery as the coffee delivery person.
But with that out of the way, let’s point out the fact that there is no one perfect CV that you can use for everything, but if you make a good one, you can always rearrange it so that it can be used for practically any application imaginable. In the end, what a CV boils down to is a statement — a message about who you are and what you are about:
A CV should be as short as it can be, while still being able to present you and your work in the best light possible. If you only have two or three exhibitions under your belt, obviously this won’t be a problem, but if you’ve gathered up quite a few shows and even some awards or prizes, the important thing is to keep it short.
Because it’s harder to get a good solo show — especially at the beginning — it’s probably not going to be hard to fit them on one page. Group exhibitions on the other hand aren’t as hard to come by and if you have more than you could easily fit on the same page, it’s best to make a selection.
You can see this in most professional artist’s portfolios, they have a section titled Solo exhibitions, and then one that says Selected group exhibition. With both, the point is to filter out anything that looks out of place.
For example: if all you have are a few exhibitions at various youth centres or artist led spaces and a degree show, put all of them on your CV (while not enough to really apply for a gallery, such a CV can be invaluable when trying to get artist residencies and other exhibitions).
But if over time you get shows in bigger galleries, art festivals or fairs, it may be time to scratch youth centres off you CV — they don’t just fill up valuable space, but can potentially provide negative connotations to other, bigger shows you have had in the past.
Not that youth centres aren’t great, but it’s like me winning 1st place in arrow shooting at camp Kozelj when I was 10 — there was a time for it, and it was a proud and wonderful moment indeed, but I’m not going to mention it on any job application.
Have a clean, but distinctly looking portfolio — it has to stand out form the crowd, but also be a good representation of who you are and wha your art is all about.
Here, I think the best way is to just ask yourself what kind of message you want to communicate. If all of your work is over the top and kitsch-related and you have a lifetime membership card to Rhinestones Emporium’s VIP section, a clean looking portfolio might actually not be the point.
While I still believe in bureaucratic procedures (although I despise them immensely) — meaning CVs should preferably follow certain rules of content and design — you can try to experiment with yours; though if you do, the main thing to keep in mind is to go all in or not even try — the middle ground is never a good place to be and it’ll just look like you were trying too hard.
Don’t forget your artist statement. An artist’s CV should have their artist statement somewhere, because it gives gallerists the ability to spot bullshit a mile away. A good artist statement is succinct and to the point and the only truly creative part of a CV — apart from the optional, but I believe important, About section:
I find an About section gives my CV a bit more of a human character and a little context, well, about who I am. I know many colleagues that don’t use it, but for me it’s an important part.
Here you could tell a brief description of what makes you tick — I focus on my goals and views connected to the art market and my work with Surviving Art. For you it might be an emotional, personal narrative or your philosophical view; the main point is to keep it simple, short and think about what kind of language you use, because even the choice of our words communicates a lot about who we are.
Lastly it’s the exhibition portfolio itself, and here I just want to dissect the usual way information about exhibitions is presented. For example:
2017 Pensar Barroco (Thinking Baroque) by Art Map, Museu de Imagem, Braga, Portugal.
Dates first (starting with the latest), because it’s just easier to go though if all exhibitions are in chronological order — you can use exact dates, but I like to just state years as it looks much cleaner as a whole.
Then the name of the exhibition and possible mentions of curators or producers of the show in cursive (I always use the original name and add an English translation, because a lot of my shows aren’t in English speaking countries), name of the venue and location (with country at the end).
In the end, the amount of amazing shows and awards in your CV matters less than how you present it. Well, not entirely, but it’s what a bureaucrat would say and as I feel like one today, it seemed like a good ending remark. Truth be told though: focus on getting out there as much as you can, all of this is just paper feed for the machine in the end!
(You can also download my CV here, if you’d like to see how what I yap about looks in real life.)

7 Ways To Make Professional Looking Video Blogs That Will Attract Users And Keep Them Coming Back
vlogging toolsNavigating through Darren's ProBlogger website got me thinking about one facet of blogging that I use to participate within: video blogging or vlogging. As a video professional, I love this specific media and find it appealing and better to use in regards with commentary or tutorials. I understand that a lot of users still like to learn in their own pace but after reading this article you may discover a few ways to focus on your new and old users with appealing video blogs.
1- KNOW YOUR TOPIC
A pretty basic idea that also works for ordinary blogs. Understanding fully that which you're going to explain, comment on or deliver a tutorial on. Most well known vloggers don't simply stick a camera in their faces and start yapping. You must have a succinct plan, a kind of script to work off of. Do your own research, plan beforehand and jot down major points therefore you do not wind up doing: "hummmm, then uh. . hmmm... heuuu"
2- WATCH YOURSELF AND YOUR SETTING
Have you been about to list your self on your bath robe? Are you currently slouching in your seat with the kiddies running around behind you? If you'd like to be used seriously, you must take the necessary action. Be respectful; believe about your own vlog such as a true demonstration before 1000s of individuals. This does not mean you need to put on a suit and a tie and then stand behind a podium however, you will need to show a graphic that will communicate approachability and professionalism. A good way to achieve that will be to cleanup the clutter in your desk, so be careful as to what shows up at the backdrop. If need be, shed a nice neutral-colored drape supporting you (orperhaps not directly contrary to you, about 5 to 10 feet is perfect). Do not sit with your spine to a window as that will create a horrible effect called backlighting. No matter what your own back light button onto your camera says, it still can look horrible. Wear impartial clothes, don't use bright colors if you don't really have to show your crazy side. Focus your eyes straight at the camera while speaking and try an work and grin now and then.
3- LIGHTS
It's not necessary to go buy LED lighting boxes or fresnos for a V-Log shoot. Use the light sources at home or office. Only direct it in a way where youpersonally, the subject, will soon be lit equally. To be certain you've got an additional light, you are able to liquefy it with a white cotton sheet in front of the light source (not too close, do not burn it). The best method to use this technique is to make use of a flooding light (the people which time straight up into the ceiling, so usually 100 Watts) and direct it back. Hurry it on a chair or a desk and be certain that the center of this light hits your upper body. Put the light five feet off. Minus the diffuser, see your face will likely be more "hot" (hot spots on the monitor are also referred as blown off and happen when a subject is over exposed). Place the sheet before the light and stretch it so light can go through. You will see straight away the difference, the lighting will now be diffused and will hit the subject evenly. You could even make use of a background light to help make you stick out just a little from the desktop. To accomplish this, make use of a directional light source like a spotlight and put it on to the floor or above the subject but only facing the back ground directed at you. That light is usually not as glowing than the main one and perhaps not trusted for vlogging however, you are able to experiment.

4- CAMERA
So many Web Cams are available on the industry nowadays, some great and some incredibly horrible. You don't have to shell out an excessive amount of money to acquire a nice camera that'll have adequate resolution and frame rate (the amount of frames at one minute, i.e. 10 frames a second will show a tiny lag in your video, the frames per second the better) to accomplish your vlogs but then again there isn't to take advantage of your webcam either. For the most part, vlogs are a fast means for users to get the information they require in a video format, right? You obviously don't want your customers to sit around and wait for the video to load because it's poorly compressed, right? Keep in your mind you are not trying to take on Diggnation and different web demonstrates that use HD cameras worth tens of thousands of dollars (their shows are in general around 180MB to down load and last more than half an hour). If you get a digital camera (or still camera with video function) lying round like the majority of people do these days, use it. The gap will be huge. These real cameras have a lot greater lens and also capture colors and light in their authentic shape without cutting corners like many Web Cams.
I'd like to take a few of my older stuff having an iSight camera also had great success with this. My customers were delighted with the tutorials and also the standard of them. I wasn't. I knew I can do better and match the changing technology. I have since shot a few using a 1chip digital camera and saw a second difference. Since I was shooting full DV (frame rate of 29.97 frames per minute), I might then squeeze the vlog into 2 4 or 20 frames per second - that will be higher compared to the webcams and still maintain the excellent resolution that the DV gave me. (again about compressing under point 7).
5- ACTION
Speak clearly, enunciate and don't go too fast. It's hard to not stress over how we look or the way we seem and feel natural if infront of a camera, which is why being calm could be the number one nation you have to maintain. Don't go on to immediately at front of the camera, your movement will soon be blurred out in this level of compression and also isn't recommended. Utilize more punctuation than normal, make sure your voice will not become boring after a while.
6- CUTTING YOUR WAY THROUGH THE COMPETITION
As your shooting at your V-Log you need to already know whether you're going to use video games of the image you're referring to or some snippet of another video you will be viewing or commenting on. Editing may make it all happen. Editing is important to putting together a vlog with a "to the point" mentality. Use visual bumpers to different your own points. Add titles to highlight the most important part of one's comment. Insert music at the ending and start with a brief name arrangement presenting your vlog. Therefore a variety of editing suggestions you can use to earn your V-Log more eloquent and gratifying to see, instead of the boring monologue it could become. Be careful though, editing may also be an ugly poisoned apple when badly employed. Too many cuts will make the audience seem off. Too many names will create the audiences spend less time hearing you personally and more time attempting to decode all of the text. Music can become frustrating if utilized throughout the V-Log as a desktop bed. All in moderation for a greater production.
I take advantage of Final Cut Pro on the Mac however it is definitely not the tool to use if you are only creating vlogs. IMovie for the Mac is a great alternative and brings a whole lot of amazing features and ease of use to this vlogger. To the PC side, MovieMaker and a ton of additional consumer softwares are great in what they do also. Bear in mind, the point of earning a vlog would be to be visually appealing however without wasting too long. You don't wish to produce a 5 second vlog that took you a complete day or even production. The first one could take you longer but when you become good at it you will see an immense improvement on your deadline. I am now able to write, shoot, edit and compress a full 5 or 10 minute vlog, in less than an hour.
7- COMPRESSING YOUR VLOGS WITHOUT SWEARING UP A STORM
Once your edit is done and you've watched yourself in amazement, it's time and energy to compress and let the others enjoy it too. Most of the editing applications you will be using wil have export features for different formats. For vlogs, the bigger the better however, in addition you do not want to lose a lot of. The ones I tend to use most are . MOV and . MP4 since they give me great quality without much video artifact (pixelized image, blurry spots and video recorders).
