OK, putting my Tom Vargas question for you here because I think that’s a better place for it…

It seems like the lady explorer didn’t want to be separated from Tom, even if it would have been riskier/more dangerous for them to stay together. Do you think he made the right decision??? Do you think HE thinks he made the right decision??? I’m curious whether the motivation is to somehow *undo* what he did, to make it like it never happened (perhaps via more time manipulation), or just to find some new path forward now that leaves in place what happened but allows him some other sort of resolution instead.

Once again, thank you. I am being spoiled by my mutuals who come to my rescue.

Ah! You ask THE question.

I think the same as you, Maxine (the lady Traveler) didn't seem to want him to leave. A part of me believe she would have chosen for Tom to stay with her, even if for just a few moments, rather than losing him forever.

Because truly, how did she feel in the end? Did she spend her entire life looking at the sky and hoping? Because there was a possibility he wasn't dead, just traveling at light speed, stuck in time. Did she mourn in the end? Did she resign herself? I don't know but it must have SUCK.

(That could be something a potential new partner would throw at his face, that he took upon himself a choice that belong to Maxine not just him).

When he took the decision, Tom was convinced to do the right thing. In the trailer, you see him hesitates, he is heartbroken (the face they gave him, they gave her in those moments!). But after? When he sees the hologram? I think, at THAT moment, he doubts. But then, can he allow himself that now that it is too late? I am not sure this is something easy to admit. That he can do it.

In the game, the "time dilation" concept is not time traveling. It is some kind of technobabble based on true physics (meaning we can't travel at light speed no idea what would happen). But, the concept of the game is: at this speed, time for you slow down while the rest of the universe goes on. You are moving at the speed of molasses in winter while everyone around you is in a High Speed Train.

With this concept, there is no going back. Just moving forward, taking the risk to travel again and see even more time pass for those you left while you still stay the same.

Tom has no mean to change anything. He is stuck with his memories of her, and the regrets. ALL the regrets he can have. And I think it will define him for the rest of his life (aka the game).

oh my god god god god god my dad just tried to complain about me wearing earrings with ghosts on them because they're "not very festive" so i said Well Actually ghosts are very appropriate for christmastime and he said tell you what if you can show me a single christmas themed thing that has ghosts in it i won't say another word about your fashion choices this entire holiday. i Promise. so i got him to lean in realllllll close as i opened up the browser app on my phone and slowly began to type "A CHRISTMAS CAROL" while the blood rapidly drained from his face.
