Constantly driven insane thinking about Rowena’s sacrifice in 15x03 compared to Castiel’s sacrifice in 15x18. Like Cas’s confession is 100% about romantic love, we all know this even when we have to continuously fight people with heteronormative googles that it is romantic, that Dean clearly reciprocates from what we’ve been shown this season, this entire run since at least s7. Cas dies specifically to save Dean and Dean alone.
15x03 pointedly pairs Destiel off with Samwitch, but for whatever reason the romantic text for the latter seems to be killed off this episode along with Rowena herself. Rowena says she doesn’t believe in love, she believes in magic (arguably backtracking on her character development, but that’s another post). She’s sacrificing herself to save the world, not just Sam specifically (like Cas’s sacrifice, the cruel twist is that her sacrifice is only a temporary stopcap. Chuck still returns to wreak havoc; Dean still dies in the finale). And yet...despite the words that come out of Rowena’s mouth, about how she’s doing this for prophecy, her final scene with Sam still has inherently romantic vibes. Sam is the only one the can kill Rowena, as Dean (and the happiness he gives Cas) is the only thing that can kill Castiel. Rowena cups Sam’s face, says “That’s my boy.”
It’s not “I love you” ... and yet at the same time, it really is. It’s the last tender moment they have between each other, the climax of their relationship. The show declined to bring a romantic Samwitch relationship into text, bringing Eileen back three episodes later, and yet by so deliberately paralleling it to Destiel, both in 15x03 and retrospectively, it’s still impossible to not see the potential they could have had.
And much like destiel in 15x18, the scene is mostly forgotten (besides a brief mention in 15x06). Sam does get to see Rowena again, and Rowena hand waves away his guilt, and any emotional continuity from 15x03 is killed stone dead. Rowena is more or less removed from the narrative with an empty position of power, removed emotionally from Sam and the narrative continues on without her. Several episodes later, Castiel’s confession is never mentioned by Dean, despite his obvious pining in 15x19. Cas is possibly brought back in 15x20, handwaved into a position of empty power (Jack’s assistant? Idk) but the emotional continuity between him and Dean isn’t addressed, and the story ends with the confession as the climax and ending (more or less) of their story.
Like no we will not make your m/f ship textually canon despite having enemies-to-friends-to-fake married-trope development over the course of 5 seaons, but we will heavily parallel it to the m/m ship that we will make kinda sorta canon later on in the season, and in the finale neither of those ships will be mentioned (nor will we mention the other m/f ship we torpedoed the original m/f ship for). We are a very sane show
#is this coherent?#this post is only for Samwitch/destiel shippers no offense to saileen shippers I’m just not here to argue who’s more#canon when we both got screwed anyways#Thinking about Eileen saying ‘you miss her’ in 15x06#and Sam saying instead ‘I killed her’#Was that a clarification or a correction?#I thought we were supposed to take this as Eileen being perspective but now idk#also thinking about the speculation that Jared didn’t like saileen and now I want to know what that means for#Samwitch#destiel#*perceptive

Let’s talk about Sam Winchester respecting women! (15x06)
SPECIFICALLY this episode (Golden Time, 15x06) when Eileen comes back from the dead.
So for those who don’t remember, here’s what you need to know: (1) Eileen has been dead since Season 12, (2) Sam is bringing her back with a spell, and (3) he’s kinda in love with her he missed her...
Since she’s coming back from the freaking dead, and since (as you might notice) she doesn’t have any clothes when she comes back, it’s important to note that she’s in a very vulnerable position. And I just love how Sam is aware of that, in a few ways.
#1: He has his back turned as he’s doing the spell, to respect her and her privacy (I know, kinda basic human respect, but just wait)
#2: he hears her stand up and knows she’s back, but he waits for her to say his name before he turns around. I even remember thinking it was a bit of an awkward pause (she’s just standing there smiling at him), but he does NOT turn around until she says his name and he knows it’s okay.
#3: as much as I’m sure he wanted to reach out and hug her, he lets her reach out first. He knows she’s in a vulnerable position, so he allows her to make the first move...
…and then responds by reaching back.
(omg just look at them they’re in love adorable)
and #4: although he reaches out his arm, he lets her come to him. Still letting her be in control and reach out first.
and you can TELL in this moment how much he wanted to hug her! But he wanted to wait until she was ready.
am I overthinking this scene a bit? yeah probably. and is SPN always the best about respecting women? lol no.
but I just think there were plenty of ways this scene could have gone that would have been less respectful of Eileen and the vulnerable state she’s in, and I appreciated the way Sam respects her space. that’s all :)

15x06, i have a LOT to say about you.
hello everyone! i’m here with SPOILERS, and my thoughts on tonight’s episode!!! 15x06 was truly my favorite so far this season, and let me tell you why :,)
- as a hardcore rowena stan, i need to start with this: i am very thankful she was given credit for saving the world. i have mad respect for sam for saying that. it wasn’t just “she sacrificed herself for us” -- NO, it was “she sacrificed herself to save the world.” because she did. rowena was more than just a casualty for the winchesters’ manpain. SHE SAVED THE WORLD. SHE DID IT. AND SHE GOT CREDIT FOR IT AND I’M SO, SO HAPPY. it’s what my baby deserves. that’s her legacy now, you guys. not a villain. not just some witch. no, she’s “the most powerful witch of all time” (SAM’S WORDS!!!) and she’s the savior of the world. i love her. i miss her, and i love her, and i’m so, so proud of her.
- and just like, any time sam mentioned rowena in this episode, you can feel it. you know he loved her. i don’t care if you see it as romantic or platonic, but he loved her, truly. and now he’s honoring her memory -- as he should! “i learned that from the best.” YES YOU DID, SAM. YES YOU DID.
- just... witch!sam in general. yes please. *chef’s kiss*
- hunter!cas was so baby. i’m so glad he got to go off on his own for a bit and do his own thing. i love him.
- AND ALSO. when cas was letting his anger out on the cop -- “it’s always the ones in positions of power” -- he was DEFINITELY talking about chuck. yes? am i right??
- and um?? the deancas phone call??? was so totally unexpected???? i was not anticipating ANY interaction between those two tonight and WE GOT ONE. and they were both pouting and acting all grumpy and literally sounded like an old married couple. i hate them. (and i love them.)
- dean & his hot dog pjs <33
- saileen is not my otp but i definitely think they’re so cute together and like?? i totally wasn’t expecting her to actually come back to life but SHE DID AND THEN THAT HUG WAS SO SWEET AND WHOLESOME AND UGH
- badass eileen during the fight scene against the witches... that was fuckin beautiful bro
- every episode you can see dean losing more and more hope and it hurts me. it really does. he’s showing a lot of signs of depression and i just hope things start looking up for him soon :( i miss my baby.
- the end scene :( “we’re the guys who break the rules”... totally reminded me of “we’re the guys who save the world” and now my heart hurts.
- ONE LAST THING. can we talk about the promo? i don’t have screencaps on me, but i’m sure others will upload them soon (& gifs too, probably), but, um, dean is literally standing in front of the bi colors at one point? and, like, i act like a clown A LOT, but i don’t even think i’m grasping at straws at this point... because it was quite LITERALLY the EXACT color scheme of the bi flag... okay... so what if we get dean coming out in 2 weeks......
in conclusion, 15x06 was THAT bitch!

15x06 CODA
Read below or HERE on AO3
It’s the middle of the night when Castiel gets home.
Home .
He sits in his car for a very long time at the thought of that, unsure if it’s accurate. The bunker has been his home for a while now. Dean was his home before that. Now, he’s not sure if either belong to him anymore.
It’s heartbreaking, but it’s his reality, and there are more pressing matters at hand. He rubs at his eyes just in case there’s some grief lingering there. They’ve been burning with it all day. Ever since that phone call. Thankfully, it hasn’t created tears. Not yet.
With a deep sigh to steady himself, Castiel climbs out of his vehicle and heads toward the door. He straightens his trench coat. Adjusts his tie. Runs a trembling hand through his hair. Adjusts his tie again. Realizes it’s backwards. Thinks of Dean fixing it all those years ago. Smiles to himself. Rubs at his burning eyes. Gives up on the tie and pulls his keys out instead.
His key still works, something that brings him an overwhelming amount of relief. He gently opens the door, not wanting to wake Sam and Dean, and slips inside. After the door is locked back up behind him, he makes his way down the stairs and into the main area of the bunker. Nothing has changed. It’s as if he was away for a few days looking into a spell for Rowena or finding a certain angel with key information, now coming back home where he belongs. He would wake up early and cook the boys breakfast. Make them coffee. Let Dean sleep in, because the man deserves it. Do the crossword with Sam in the meantime.
Instead, Castiel thinks it’ll be best if he just hides out in the morning. Wakes up after they’ve all gotten on with their day. Hopefully come across Sam first, because Sam will know how to soften the blow of Dean’s reaction.
Sam’s always been good at that.
“Hello.”
Castiel stumbles to a stop, his hand going to his chest as he turns toward the sound of a distinct voice he could place anywhere. His eyes bulge when he takes in the woman sitting at the map table. “Eileen?”
She smiles. “Yes. Castiel, right?”
“Right. You - it’s,” Castiel walks closer, narrowing his eyes as he waits for a flicker or a mist of cold air. “You’re dead.”
“Not anymore.” She shrugs as if that’s normal. Well, in this life, Castiel supposes that it sort of is. “Sam found a spell Rowena was working on. I didn’t think it would work, but here I am.”
“Here you are. Wow. That’s great.” Castiel matches Eileen’s grin, trying to force his darker thoughts aside. It’s great. It really is. It’s just… Eileen may not have been the person Castiel would have wanted to bring back. Not if this was the spell Rowena explained to him a few weeks ago. Not if this was a one time chance.
Maybe Jack and Rowena wouldn’t have worked, their supernatural powers getting in the way, but Castiel can think of one human he’d do anything to bring back. Someone who could maybe fix everything. Well, almost everything. Mary Winchester wouldn’t be able to bring Jack back, but maybe if Castiel were to get his mother back for him, Dean would forgive him. Maybe even love him again.
It was a long shot, but it was a hope.
Castiel feels like a monster for such thoughts.
“Castiel?”
Castiel startles, having forgotten Eileen was there. “Sorry. Yes?”
“I was just saying I’m glad you’re back home. Dean has missed you.”
“He - I -” Castiel swallows thickly, eyes burning. Gosh… he wishes they would stop burning. “Dean what?”
“He’s missed you. Sam’s been worried sick. All Dean does is sleep, eat, and watch reruns of TV. Won’t get out of his pajamas. Won’t talk about anything. He wouldn’t even go with Sam to find the spell at Rowena’s place.”
“I’m sure he’s having a hard time knowing Chuck is back.”
“No.” Eileen gives him a knowing smile. “Sam was very specific when he explained things. He said, ‘Dean hasn’t been okay since Cas left,’ which, if I understand correctly, was before he found out Chuck was back.”
Castiel shifts awkwardly. “He’s been grieving his mother. And Jack. Trust me, the problem is not with me being gone.”
“Whatever you say.” She stands up, bringing her empty glass with her. Just before leaving for the kitchen, she pauses, looking over at Castiel with a shake of her head. “The two of you… I swear. The world is ending, and you still can’t figure it out.”
“Figure what out?”
“Goodnight, Castiel.”
Castiel furrows his eyebrows, looking down at the floor. “Yes. Goodnight, Eileen.”
Once Castiel hears Eileen put the glass by the sink and walk down the hall - to Sam’s bedroom, interestingly enough - Castiel begins his own journey to bed. He’s exhausted physically and mentally. The idea of his bed makes him nearly groan in pleasure. It took forever for him to find the right mattress - memory foam, because as Dean pointed out, ‘who the hell doesn’t want their bed to remember them?’, but the kind that has cooling gel in it, because sometimes Castiel gets too warm at night. To find the right pillows - not too hard, but not too soft either, the perfect balance so when he lays on his stomach and sprawls out, his neck doesn’t hurt in the morning. To find the right sheets - the satiny kind that feel so amazing against his bare skin, especially after a round of making love with Dean, when his senses are heightened. To find the right blankets - a goose down duvet with a light gray linen cover, an olive green chunky knitted throw folded on the end that reminds Castiel of Dean’s eyes on a summer day, when the sun is shining in them.
Jody’s spare bed was comfortable, and the bed at the cabin he had been renting was adequate, but Castiel’s bed in the bunker is better than heaven - something he can attest to for certain.
That’s why it takes Castiel a second too long to realize something is off when he steps into his bedroom. He was so focused on his excitement to finally be back in his bed that he wasn’t aware someone was in it already. Someone who has been in it many nights before. Someone Castiel truly believed would never be in it again.
Castiel strips slowly, his hands trembling. His trench coat. Then his suit jacket. His tie. His dress shirt. He steps forward as his fingers work his belt. It lands on the floor beside Dean’s cell phone. When he sheds his pants, they pool atop Dean’s hotdog pajamas. Castiel pauses to smile at the sight of them. He had gotten them for Dean last Christmas. The man had grumbled about how they were childish and ridiculous. Apparently someone missed him enough not to care.
That does things to Castiel that he can’t explain.
Just as he slides into the bed, about to reach over for the remote to turn the TV off that Dean must have fallen asleep watching, Dean stirs.
“Cas-?” Dean asks in a groggy but hopeful voice.
“Yes, Dean.”
Dean’s cheeks burn red and he closes his eyes. “Sorry. Couldn’t sleep, ‘n it smells like you here.”
Feeling his heart both break and repair at the same time, Castiel brushes a strand of hair off of Dean’s forehead and nods in understanding. “It’s okay, Dean.”
Then he lays himself down, getting comfortable beside the man he loves. It isn’t until he pulls Dean to his chest, cradling him gently, that Dean manages to speak again. “Should go. ‘M mad at you.”
“I’m mad at you, too,” Castiel says, the words sounding like an apology and an accusation rolled in one. “Go to sleep, Dean. We’ll be mad at each other tomorrow.”
As if the weight of the world lifts off of him, Dean releases a deep sigh and goes lax in Castiel’s arms. The only thing still tensed is his hands, which are digging viciously into Castiel’s back, making it clear he’s not allowed to go anywhere.
Castiel doesn’t plan on it. There’s nowhere else in the world he’d rather be. This is home. This is where he belongs.

Supernatural: Golden Time (15x06)
This episode has made my soul ascend to heaven!
Cons:
Could have used more sign language. This is totally a nitpick, totally a personal preference thing. I love ASL and I love the idea of Sam learning it for Eileen, and I wanted more, more, more. Also a personal preference thing, but I totally wanted them to kiss? Can Eileen just like... be in the rest of the show and go on hunts with the Winchesters and start dating Sam and... yeah. More Eileen please and thank you.
Pros:
See, I couldn't even properly complain about anything before jumping straight in to the Eileen of it all. We all know Supernatural has a crappy track record with its female characters. So many of them have been fridged, or even at best killed off in a less fridge-y way, but the end result is that there is a dearth of ladies in the Supernatural universe. Eileen was a particularly difficult and senseless death, as there was no reason why she had to die to prove the point that things were getting rough. And then here we have a mission - find a way to help Eileen, who is a ghost that doesn't want to go back to Hell. Sam finds a compromise solution, but it's not ideal, and then he discovers that Rowena was working on a way to make a spirit corporeal. They can bring Eileen back! Cue some witches who come in as obstacles, some reminiscing about Rowena, and then bam! Sam gets a win. Eileen is alive once again.
There are so many reasons why this story felt so important. We are setting up a dichotomy here between Sam, who is still hopeful and still wants to fight for good, and Dean, who is helpless and depressed in the face of the enormity of their problem. (Also he's going through a breakup, so that's making things rough). In this episode, Sam wants to help someone he cares about. And not only does he manage to succeed, he actually finds a much better solution to the problem, and gets to undo just one in the long list of losses he has suffered. This feels narratively sound. The show can't just be a long line of suffering over and over and over again with a band-aid slapped over it at the very end. There has to be some hope, some goodness in the world. And Eileen is that for Sam.
We also have the Rowena situation. Sam goes to her place, and the evil witches explain that her rooms were heavily warded. One witch dies just from going inside. But Sam? Sam is unhurt because Rowena left all of her things to him. And lo, my heart did grow three sizes this day. Holy moly. The Rowena/Sam of it all has left me genuinely staggered. I did not expect this to do such a number on me. I love Rowena. I miss her so much.
I love Eileen, too. I love that she's a hunter, and that she's hyper-competent, and that even though in this case she came to Sam and Dean for help, she never feels like a damsel. In fact, she's taken to being a ghost pretty well, and seems to be able to control where she is with remarkable accuracy and consistency. This is for plot reasons, of course, but I also love the idea that Eileen kicks ass at being a ghost just as much as she kicked ass at being a human.
Sam as a witch is SENDING me. Dean calls him "Rowena's protege," and Sam later says he "learned from the best" when he uses a spell to stop the witch who is trying to kill him. This is one of those things that feels so obvious in retrospect. Sam has always been a great hunter, but he's also always been great with books and memorization and lore and magic. I like the idea of stating this more explicitly. For years, I've looked at the Men of Letters as Sam's natural endgame, a way to combine his love of academia and knowledge with his vocation as a hunter. And I still believe this to be the most logical conclusion. But I also think Sam Winchester is a witch now, and I am in love with it.
And then there's Dean, who takes a backseat this week to hang around in the bunker and eat full boxes of cereal alone in his room. Big mood, Dean. The obvious, textual reason for his distress is that he feels like everything is pointless. If God is making all the rules, what the hell is the point of even trying? There's a moment right at the end where Sam is trying to convince him that what they do still matters. He tells Dean he needs his brother, and Dean seems to respond to that. But he also says that he can't tell what's God, and what's not, and that it's driving him crazy. Which, like, let's drill down into that for a second, because yes. This is so compelling.
Dean has already had that conversation with Cas a few episodes back, when he talked about how he didn't know what was real. And Cas said, "we are." And it was super very much gay, y'all. And now Dean and Cas are on the outs. Everything about the distance between them is being framed as a breakup. Dean is moping around in the bunker, while Cas sequesters himself away in a small town, and talks about a "friend he once had" with random strangers, clearly pining. I know there's more to it than just the Destiel angle, but when Dean says he can't tell what's real and what's God, I am irresistibly drawn to what this means for him and Cas specifically. Castiel was assigned to Dean. He was told to pull him out of Hell because of the Apocalypse. And yes, the Winchesters and Cas became "Team Free Will" and Cas defied his orders and the Apocalypse was averted. But now, everything has been thrown into question. That whole story was just part of Chuck's larger narrative. So is anything about Castiel, about his relationship to Dean, real?
And that phone call. That was a phone call between ex-boyfriends who are forced to communicate for logistical reasons. Cas is so grumpy. Dean is so gruff. "Sam's been trying to call you." Oh, lord, Dean. Just admit you miss him. This whole conversation was so great. It gave me so much hope for the story they're telling about their relationship.
Cas' subplot was pretty standard, but I mean that as a compliment. Basically, his "time off" is interrupted when he learns about people going missing in the area. He helps a woman find her missing son, and defeats the djin who has been praying on the town. He also goes full bad-ass Castiel, healing himself from multiple gunshot wounds and taking down the bad guy with brutal efficiency. He even heals the kid's injuries, although it seems to take a lot out of him. What I found really interesting about Castiel's defeat of the bad guy is that at first he's relying on his powers as an angel, standing and taking the gunshot wounds with barely a flinch. But then he reverts to human methods. He doesn't smite the djin. He stabs him. Over and over. It's actually quite intense. He does things the human hunter way, and it speaks to the ways in which Cas will never be fully human, but he's certainly leaned more and more into that part of his identity over the years. What with his powers being on the fritz, it might be time to hang up his wings once and for all, by the time this show wraps up.
So that's that! We got some prime Eileen content, we got some great Rowena reminiscences, Cas got his own subplot and got to be grumpy to Dean, and we even got a nice little brotherly moment there at the end, where Sam encourages Dean to get back on the horse, and tells him he needs him. This was such a fantastic episode and I can't wait for more!
9.5/10

SPN Coda 15x06 - “Golden Time”
Hello! So, what about last night’s episode, huh? I’m so happy Eileen’s back and I may have cried when she and Sam hugged. I just hope she stays for a long while and that they don’t screw her over. And my baby Cas is back and that’s just awesome, I was missing him.
As always, Cas is in the coda cause it wouldn’t be me if he wasn’t haha. I hope you enjoy the coda and let me know what you think!
Read it on AO3 or keep reading here!
Castiel makes sure that Melly and Caleb are back home okay before he goes back to the cabin. It’s almost dark by then, the sun slowly setting down on the horizon, painting the sky in pink and purple. The shut curtain doesn’t let much of the last daylight inside the room, so Castiel turns the light on as he drops his trenchcoat on the chair by the door with a sigh. He lets himself sink into the chair, burying his head in his hands with closed eyes. His hands are still sticky with the djin’s blood and the smell of copper is strong, leaving a metallic taste on his mouth. Castiel lowers his hands to stare at them, the dark red stains on them in contrast with his skin. They shake slightly and Castiel closes them in fists to stop it as he closes his eyes.
With his eyes closed, Castiel rewatches himself killing them djin, the angel blade stabbing its chest loudly, the noise of skin being torn apart all Castiel can hear, the smell of blood even stronger than before. He opens his eyes with his breath caught in his throat, trying to get rid of the image. Pushing himself from the chair, Castiel makes his way to the mirror in the bathroom, staring at himself in front of it; his shirt has bullet holes from the shot, his blood around them, and more blood spattered on the rest of it, up until his neck, but from the djin. He feels sick as he stares at the blood, bile rising up his throat, and he has to rush to the toilet as his stomach empties itself, nothing but liquid coming out of it.
He rests his head on his arms as he breathes in deeply, eyes closed, exhaling through his mouth. Castiel loses track of time as he breathes, the cold tiles sending shivers through his body, his knees hurting from the hard surface. His stomach still revolves in itself, nothing more to throw out, and his grace is barely enough to keep him from passing out. He can even feel where the bullets wounded him, a phantom ache in them, even though Castiel managed to heal the wounds.
Castiel finally pushes himself up, flushing the contents away and turning to the sink. He stares at himself in the mirror again, his face pale, dark bags under his eyes, his forehead shining with cold sweat, and cheeks hollow. In a matter of hours, he managed to look incredibly sick. He gets rid of his suit, throwing it on the floor, his tie and shirt following right after. Castiel turns the tap on, splashing water on his face. He cleans the blood from his neck and his chest, the marks of the wounds looking desperately new, as if they had just started to heal. He sighs as he turns the tap off, water dripping from his hair onto his shoulders.
Turning the light off, he walks back to the room, sitting on the edge of the bed. He stares at his phone on the nightstand as if it would grow a head and a mouth and eat him if he wasn’t careful. It was silent for a few days now, not even Sam’s texts or voicemails anymore. Castiel has a feeling that Dean probably managed to convince Sam to stop bothering him or Sam finally realized Castiel wasn’t going to answer him. But Dean’s words come back to him, talking about how Chuck’s still there. It fills him with sadness and anger, knowing that Chuck may still be finding a way to try and control them. It also makes Castiel wonder if everything Dean said before Castiel left the bunker were truly his words or if it was just Chuck manipulating them.
Castiel shakes his head, taking those thoughts out of his mind. Doesn’t matter if it was truly Dean or not. It doesn’t excuse everything he said to me and I guess it doesn’t make a difference to Dean, anyway. He certainly doesn’t seem to need me. He grabs his phone with a sigh, unlocking it and opening his texts. There are a lot from Sam, all of them asking where Castiel is, if he’s okay, and that they need to talk. There is one talking about Chuck and Lilith and for Castiel to be careful.
His phone rings and Sam’s name appears in it. Castiel holds it tightly, staring at the screen as it rings, breath held in his throat. He only lets it out when the call goes to voicemail and it isn’t long before the notification appears. He clicks on it, pressing the phone against his ear with closed eyes. Sam’s tired voice comes soon, Hey, Cas, just checking in. Dean said you were probably working on a case because he got a call on the FBI phone. Hope everything went okay and that you managed to get the monster. If you need any help, you know you can ask, I’ll be happy to help you. Uhm, I actually have some good news. I don’t know if you remember Eileen but we managed to bring her back today with one of Rowena’s spell. That’s a win, right? Sam chuckles softly and stays silent for a while, though Castiel can hear him breathing and muttering under his breath. But, seriously Cas, I wanted to make sure you’re okay. You haven’t answered any of my calls or texts, and I don’t even know if you’re actually getting them. I was worried you were hurt or something like it. I, uh, I don’t know what Dean said to you but I know my brother and I’m sure it wasn’t anything good. But you’ll always be welcome here, you know that, right? Doesn’t matter what Dean says or does, the bunker is your home too and I don’t want you to ever think it isn’t. It’s as much of ours as it is yours, and it would be nice to have you back. Just… think about it, okay? Anyway, I hope you’re okay and be careful, okay? We don’t know what Chuck or Lilith are planning but it can’t be good. Call me if you need anything.
Castiel lets the phone fall from his hands as he buries his head in them, tears welling up in his eyes. He doesn’t know if he should feel better or worse with Sam’s words, but it hurts to hear him saying that he’s welcomed there. Castiel knows Sam means well but he probably doesn’t know what Dean said, and, even though there’s nothing more Castiel wants to do than go back to the bunker, he knows he can’t; not yet anyway. He knows he can’t face Dean and he doesn’t want to put Sam in the middle of the crossfire. It’s best for him to stay away for a while and if Chuck’s still there, then Castiel has something to do.
He stands up to grab his laptop, turning it on and sitting at the table. His powers may be falling and he may not have a home for now, but Castiel can find Chuck or Lilith and find a way to beat them. Castiel is a hunter and this is just another job. He can and will do this, no matter what it takes.

15x06 - “Golden Time” thoughts
Pre-thoughts: Back from work so new episode time! Apparently this is a Sam-centric episode (love me those) and I know Dean and Cas are gonna have an awkward phone call. Other than that I dont know what happens and I’m excited to find out!!!
Recap: Destiel breakup und Sam killing Rowena.Yup this is gonna be fun.
I have the episode with narration again and the narrartor immediately spoils that this is Rowena’s apartment. Though the big out of focus portrait is a dead giveaway...
Honestly I don’t even hear the narrator over the music when the witch throws Rowena’s stuff on the floor. If you’re visually impaired idk if this is even actually helpful
Well witch lady, shouldn’t have touched Rowena’s stuff. Now you’re dead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Some blurry something walks by behind Sam in the bunker. Eileen is that you?
Dean walks in with his comfy robe and hot dog PJs. It would be cute if it wasn’t sad.
Dean ate a whole box of cereal. Well the munching away your feelings continues. ...And he’s binge watching Scooby Doo. I mean I never had a breakup but I’m sure I’d eat comfort food and watch my favorite show all day too.
CAAAS <3
The shop owner calls him Clarence. So Cas is not in the mood to use the typical Winchester fake name right now instead opting for the nickname Meg gave him. Oh Cas :(
Apparently Cas has been fishing. I’m sure there is some interesting meta meaning to this.
“I had a friend who praised fishing for it meditating qualities” Not sure if he’s talking about Dean here but I assume he is. Which makes this even more sad because “I HAD a friend”...D:
Cas isn’t even looking for a case instead the shop owner tells him about a dead boy they found. So he’s just been alone fishing to deal with his feelings which didn’t really seem to work. Oh NOO ;__;
We never see Sam jogging and it’s a shame!
Eileen!!!
The hellhound that killed Eileen dragged her to hell. I’m not OK!
Eileen doesn’t want to turn into a vengeful spirit so she asks Sam and Dean to maybe put in a good word with the angels. WELL...that might be a problem...
Dean tells her even if they tried she can’t go to heaven and Sam looks the way I’m feeling right now
Sam is pissed Dean just outright told her. Understandable. Dean is all like “Sucks but that’s how it is” Yikes
I want someone to hug Sam so bad he’s having a really rough time here. Seeing Eileen in this state and now having to go to Rowena’s place. :(
And Dean is like “Yeah you do that” and walks away. Dude.
He thinks nothing they do matters anyway so why care. This is fine...
Cas is at the sheriff’s office but the dude gets his hair cut on tuesdays so he’s not there. What can you do.
The woman sitting there thinks her son is missing too and no one will help her. Cas can’t say no to her of course.
This Sam and Eileen conversation is too sad for meeee *sobs*
(For some reason the narrator is now talking about “Dean” instead of Sam when they enter Rowena’s apartment. Real professional narration.)
Two witches sit in a van outside and spy on Sam and Eileen in the apartment. But one has purple eyes like Rowena. Did she already get the Book of the Damned?
Back with Cas and the Sheriff is back and being annoyed with the woman looking for her son. Sure maybe not many people go missing in that little town but if one kid shows up dead the night before that should mayyyyybe ring some alarm bells?
Cas is kinda getting pissed at the sheriffs don’t-care attitude. (I’d be too.)
Dude wants to talk to a supervisor so Cas got no choice but to call some Winchester phone.
Of course it’s Dean answering the call and from the looks of it Cas is really hoping its not him...
I kinda wanna reach through the screen and throttle Dean right now... Apologize to your husband dammit!
Cas wipes his eye after Dean hangs up. THIS IS FINE. AGAIN.
If you’re searching for some secret witch stash being a ghost is kinda helpful
Sam sees Rowena’s secret room and that she kept journals until the end. We see his face and the narrator deadass goes “Sam tries to smile through the pain” CAN YOU NOT
“You miss her”, Eileen also saw that pain.
Rowena worked on a spell to resurrect Mary without a body. HELP. MY ROWENA FEELS.
She never finished it but Sam is confident he can do it. And bring Eileen back! (PLEASE. Don’t get my hopes up show!)
Detective!Cas montage. He even has a pen behind his ear. I’m so proud.
Sam is getting the same treatment as the witch from the beginning. Those other witches don’t wanna share. He at least gets to sign for Eileen to find Dean before she gets poofed away by the witch.
Appararently Rowena’s apartment his hexed but it didn’t affect Sam. She left all her things to him....And here are the feels again...
The witch clearly doesn’t know who Sam is or she would’ve gone for his deal.
Cas is up at the lake where people went missing and the woman from before followed him to help with the search. From the promo pics I know this is gonna get bloody....
The witch (who looks more like a typical ghost with her black hair) who is making sure Sam gets the stuff they want didn’t really like the dead witch (her sister it seems). She made her life hell. Well thanks for telling us you’re obviously gonna turn on your mother later on to stop the resurrection.
Cas and the woman (Nelly or something?) walk through the woods. “Thanks for doing this on your vacation” Oh lady, if only you knew.
Cas tries to prepare Nelly for something horrible that might have happened to her son but surprise they just find him sitting behind some rocks. Well this is convenient.
Sam almost convinces Emily to take Rowena’s stuff and leave him the spell. But then she stabs the voodoo doll. This is gonna end bad for you Emily.
The Sheriff is the monster (a djinn) at the lake. I am SHOCKED.
The djinn shoots Cas but it just pisses him off more.
“It’s always you. You selfish little men in positions of authority. You take what you want, you take who you want. You believe your power will protect you. But it won’t protect you from me.” Ok apart from this being an amazing bamf!Cas scene this is obviously forshadowing Cas being the one who will fuck Chuck’s shit up and I’m so here for it!
Dean comes to the rescue! But the dead witch is also joining the fun. This calls for a witch vs Eileen ghost off!
Sam kills the witch mother with a hex bag and spell. “I learned from the best”. AHHHHH
Cas heals the boy’s ankle but it clearly takes a lot out of him.
Nelly “This is a miracle. Were you sent by God?”
Cas is like “You know what - it’s better if you don’t know what a massive dick God actually is”
“If I stay nothing changes. It’s time for me to get back into the game.” Damn right. My boy is back!
They actually have a nice big bathtub in the bunker? Fic writers rejoice!
OMG SHE’s ACTUALLY BACK ;______;
Narrator about Sam: “He turns around, overcome with emotion” YOU STOOOOOOP
OMGOMGOMGOMG *sobs*
THIS IS THE BEST I’M SO SAD AND HAPPY AND AHHHHHHHHH
Cut to Dean sitting all alone.... Well you’ve got some work to do before you get to hug your love again....
Dean: “So you’re some kinda witch now”. Sam: “Nah I just got lucky”. Sam please. You’re definitely a witch now. Be proud of that.
Dean just doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not and it’s driving him crazy. Ah my poor boy.
Sam is all confident now they’ll gonna beat god “Cause we are the guys who break the rules”. Well you’re one rulebreaker short...
Dean is not really there yet.
Sorry this got so long *coughs* But pheeeeew that was an episode. Saileen came back with full force and all the Sam and witch!Sam and Rowena feels right with them. And Cas is back in the game too. And Dean is still all sad. Meredith Glynn really knocked it out of the park with this one!

My 15x06 Opinion
Golden Time
This was a really good episode despite my disapproval of the end. I can be objective :)
We have a very fun start with Dean moping adorably around in his hotdog PJs binging on cereal and Scooby-doo. And be still my beating heart, Sam going for a run! There’s nothing unsexy about sweaty, messy-haired, athletic Sam in sweats!! But oh wait... ghost Eileen appears. She’s stuck as a ghost, having escaped Hell when the gates opened. Strangely enough, the Winchesters are stuck on the word of a demon that people cant enter Heaven if they have ever been to Hell. I gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed that the boys just take his word for it, is that just me?
Meanwhile, we have Cass on his own. On a mission to find a missing kid. I have to give it to Cass, he was pretty interesting this week, and I loved his look of complete done-ness when Dean was barking at him on the phone. I also gotta love Dean for his “Don’t you dare ignore my brother” attitude!
In other news, another local witch tried to get into Rowena’s stash and got dead in the process. Sam is going to Rowena’s apartment to find a spell and a crystal to put Eileen in to keep her fro going back to Hell or going insane as a ghost. When he gets there, he finds the body, the apt in disarray and nothing of good witchy value in the immediate area. Eileen finds a secret room where all Rowena’s goodies are and Sam goes in. This was a nice moment Sam had of remembering her. Might I say, he took her death much harder than he’s taken others deaths aside from Dad’s and Dean’s many. I dont even think he looked this shaken by his Mom’s death, but much has to do with him killing her Im sure.
Upon leaving, Sa buckles in pain, spitting blood, of course he has been hexed. Now I think it’s so cute that even though he knows very little sign language, he knows how to sign “My brother” to tell Eileen to go get him. Sam, of course, is thusly abducted.
After Sam’s obligatory “tied up and mildly tortured” scene, he takes a young witch with him to get a resurrection spell from Row’s apt. The witch states her now-dead sister made her life hell. Sam trie to relate by saying Dean put Super Glue in his toothpaste when he was 10, which was instantly trumped by real horrors the young witch endured. Thats right Sam, Dean isnt such a bad brother...but you know that ;)
Sam tries to convince the girl to run start a new life, be happy, and she accuses him of lying and a big fight scene starts. Dean arrives in time to save Sam, Eileen saves Dean, then Sam saves Eileen. TADAAAH!!
Now we have the scene that screams “Sam and Eileen are gonna bang!” to me. They couldnt leave Eileen as their host friend that is the inspiration they need to try to fix Heaven or make a new one or whatever, no, lets bring her back to life because I guess we need to get Sam laid before whatever fate befalls him at the end of the series, go out with a BANG as they say 😣
We have a spell to bring Eileen back, because obviously, bringing people back to life has always worked out so well for the Winchesters, they should definitely do it again!!! And this spell requires Sam to draw a nice deep soaking bath, in a modern tub that the boys must have installed themselves because it doesnt fit the MOL time period motif they've always had, sprinkle in some herbs (probably rose petals too why tf not) speak some extra sexy Latin, and have Sam modestly turn around because he’s a gentleman, and found the only resurrection spell to date that brings ‘em back naked. Candlelight, soft music, Sam’s ample bosom heaving breathlessly in anticipation for the spell to work. Of course it does, theres a twinkle in Sam’s eyes as he hears the water splash... “Sam?” He hears and takes as the OK to turn around. It worked!! His 4 yr crush-when-convenient is back to life because again, this has always worked out so good.
She holds out her hand for Sam to take it... this is so y’all know she initiated the sex they have/had later that we’ll either get to see the cuddle in bed, or get a verbal acknowledgment of. I may literally puke if we actually get a sex scene. Sorry, it was fine back when the bros barely liked each other, but theyve been more or less married for years now and it just seems wrong. Oh dont worry, if Sam gets laid, Dean will too. Though Sam did put Eileen to bed without sex because she needs sleep, we need to know this because it wont seem as creepy if we know he at least let some time pass and didnt take advantage of possible vulnerability.
I hope I can come back next episode or so and be very glad I was wrong, because I know a lot of you dont think they’ll bang, but I say theres no reason whatsoever for a scene like that other than to prep us for romance and not leave any of you saying “Wait! Where did that come from?? They only think of each other as friends!”
I hope its short lived, not that I want Eileen to die... again... but lets just have her go off hunting on her own because if she is Sam’s end game (which I dont think she is) I will unwatch the entire series and never let it on my screen again 😑
Honorable mention to Cass, congrats on solving your first case by yourself and I actually really dug you losing your shit on the Djinn!!
So aside from my personal disapproval, on a scale of Bloodlines to Lebanon Ill say this was another very good one. Ill give it a 7, deducting a full point for giving me agita.
