How does it feel to be nominated alongside Daniel and Lindsay after doing Merrily together for nearly two years?
I'd known Lindsay forever; I didn't know Dan. I knew his work, but I didn't really know him personally. And I remember feeling, the first day when we walked into rehearsal, that so much has come for free, like when you go on a good date and the conversation is flowing.
It's really emotional because now, we're actually friends in a deep way. We've seen each other go through so many different things. We were at Lindsay's wedding; Lindsay's pregnant; Dan had a baby with his girlfriend — all in the last two years.
So much life has happened. We've lived the experience of doing the show both personally and as characters. There's so much real feeling that now I don't know where one of us begins and the other one ends. It's such a symbiotic relationship at this point, and to be here celebrating a show like this is phenomenal.
Did you have a connection to Merrily before joining this production?
[Actor] Gideon Glick, who I did Spring Awakening with, texted us all on the Spring Awakening chain years ago and said, "Oh my god, you guys have to see this Merrily documentary. It's us. It's reminding me so much of us."
In 2021, in November, we did a 15-year anniversary reunion concert of Spring Awakening. I invited [production company] Radical Media to come and record the concert and do a documentary that was, in large part, inspired by that Merrily documentary because I wanted to capture us from 15 years before and us now.
A couple months later, I got asked to be a part of this production. I watched Maria's British production of Merrily on YouTube, which is still there. When the character of Frank [...] said, "I've only made one mistake in my life. I made it over and over and over again, and that was saying yes when I meant no," that was the moment where I was like, "I have to play this part." I feel that so deeply.
Is there anything you wish Sondheim could know about this production?
I feel him talking to us every night. A gift that he left our whole community is his work. Between Off-Broadway and Broadway, we've done Merrily over 300 times. As a performer, that's really kicking the tires of the material if you still feel, over 300 performances in, like there's still so much more to learn. In his work, in his music, in his lyrics, honestly, last night — I'm feeling new things that I've never felt before.
Great art, when you get the chance as an actor to perform it, changes you from the inside out. I feel like I'm learning every day. It's like free therapy to do his work because it's so poetic and so thoughtful and so emotional.
What was your first experience with Sondheim's work?
[My] Sondheim gateway was a VHS from Suncoast Video at the Park City Mall of Into the Woods when I was in seventh or eighth grade. I brought it home. I was like, "What is this? I love musicals. I love fairy tales."
I watched it in one sitting and then I rewound it and then watched it all a second time.
What did theatre mean to you when you were younger?
Getting the chance to do theatre in [middle] school was life-changing for me. Same thing in high school.
[I had] the opportunity of being on a stage and getting to express myself as a teenager, and then going to see theatre and [discovering] that's it's so easy to understand the medium because you can perform it at school and then also see it. It's the actor's medium — you see people out there doing it live, and there's a real communion with the audience.
Being closeted when I was in high school — as I look back now, I didn't realize it then, but theatre was where I went to express myself, express joy, express sadness, express love, express myself physically, just even the act of singing. When I look back now, I realized that theatre, as a teenager, completely saved my life.
Do you have a favorite memory associated with the Tony Awards? The annual broadcast is many people's introduction to Broadway.
Oh my God, so many. I would record the Tonys on a VHS, and then I would bring them into school and show them to my fellow students in math class.
I taught a unit on the Tony Awards at York Little Theatre summer camp in 2004 with a bunch of 10-year-olds. It was the year of Wicked and Avenue Q and The Boy From Oz and Caroline, or Change. They all held a vote on who they thought should win Best Actress.
Probably the Tony performance I've watched the most is Sutton Foster doing "Forget About the Boy" [from the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2002]. I was in high school. I saw the show six times. The heat coming off her as [...] she's playing this character of moving to New York and wanting to make her dreams come true — I was just lit on fire by her and that performance.

I am RAGING! *triggers!!!*
I'm just finishing watching the Netflix documentary "Take Care of Maya".
I am so fucking angry at the system!
You can say, they were trying to do right by her, and there can be a couple of people involved that were! But Dr. Sally Smith, fuck you.
But Maya's mum, Beata, was the true warrior for her daughter's illness, CRPS Syndrome. It took them multiple doctors and treatments to get Maya on the right treatments and her illness bearable. But a hospital visit and one social worker fucked that all up. Causing Beata and Maya's dad to lose custody of Maya.
Beata was a nurse who, not only knew something wasn't right, but documented everything for the 80+ days that kept her daughter out of her care and hospitalized in John Hopkins All Children's Hospital. No doubt pissing off the doctors, social workers, judges and investigators with her countless questions and calls after her daughter's care, well-being, treatment plans. Accusing Beata of Munchausen by proxy and Maya of lying as well.
Sadly, the truth, that Maya does indeed have CRPS Syndrome, confirmed by an out-of-state specialist, didn't come until after Beata, disheartened by being kept away from her daughter and knowing Maya wasn't getting her proper treatment for her illness, for 87 long days, took her own life. The cherry on top, being denied giving her ten-year old daughter a hug at a custody hearing, the day before.
This fills me with such a raging anger. Beata did everything for Maya, the only thing she was guilty of was pushing and demanding to see her sick daughter and ensuring Maya got the correct treatment, so she wasn't in agony. It pisses me off more, knowing that more parents went and are going through the same thing.
Florida has a privatized child and adult protection system. Pinellas county has the highest case of child abuse victims being taken out of the home, mostly through Suncoast Center, who handled Maya's case.

Suncoast Broadway CATS update 2/17
There was a great comment by @lie-in-a-bureau-drawer , so I hope it's okay that I post it here since I've got some info and comments! (I still don't get tumblr and I keep forgetting how it works/etiquette but I'm trying!)
I never would want anyone to ever strain to put themselves in a financial situation ever for any project I do, or anything in general, but especially me. This is something very personal as in 2016, I was about to live in my car until two amazing friends took me into their home. What was meant to be two weeks turned into six months, which I can never financially repay but I promised to repay it forward however I can. Since we don't have money to pay it forward, that's where on other social media platforms I signal boost, and also where I'm absolutely happy to share info and help when I can. I totally can understand the disappointment of wanting to go somewhere, and it's incredibly touching and means a ton to me (you have no idea) for that sort of support. So thank you, from the bottom of my (supposed to be) frigid heart.
For anyone thinking of or planning to attend, David and I will be there for the shows on Feb 1st and both shows on the 2nd--our flight home is the 3rd (missing that show and the rest of the run). This is pretty standard for costume designers, sometimes we don't get to go at all (aka Wichita with their full department already!). I'd feel bad if someone only came to try to meet us and we weren't there so I wanted to give those dates but the show will run until, I believe, April 7th. There is accessible seating and accommodation.
I'd call the theatre to double-check (as a courtesy) but already in many production meetings I brought up superfans in costume and said there's a good chance that'll happen. They seemed really excited by the idea. So if you like going to shows in costume, this one should be very friendly to it and there will be more interaction than usual due to dinner theatre. I can't say much more than that but there was a very specific reason why we were hired (well, several... but something really stood out).
Let's be honest, this is the one y'all care about: YES, there WILL be pictures and (hopefully) video! And I'm pretty sure people who come to the show will be able to take pics/vid on their phones and probably with performers but I'm not 100% positive there--I will get confirmation. Once opening happens, I will share at least one special costume design I made. There will be one special performer who will greet every table in a very special costume as the host/ess. Who will it be? Who... will it be..? (Spoiler: It's not Macavity. WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN HE JUST WANTS TO DO SOMETHING AND IS SUFFERING THE WORST MIDDLE CHILD SYNDROME EVER?)
Additional fun info: On Tuesday (maybe Wed) we'll be teaching the make up classes. We had to improvise with some different products, still Mehron base but also some snazzaroo for detailing and some powder and eyeshadow. I don't believe I'll be allowed to share video of these classes (there will be video) because make up classes usually are emotional the first two days, then by day three everything's fine. It's a very emotional process and I'd love to share how I teach but I also need to respect the privacy of the cast in case there are tears.
Kind Suggestion: If you do go to the show, please tip kindly. As this is nonequity, the actors are responsible for providing their own shoes (they will need to be replaced during the run), undergarments, make up (first initial batch on the theatre), other things. We did everything we could to help them, but I know with undergarments and shoes, especially shoes, some actors are really struggling, and if they dance but also tap, and it seems like one actor will cover three tracks... it's very hard. Just a very kind thing to do/consider. We had to talk with a few about whether they could do just one dancebelt and basically the, "well, yes, you CAN... but for twodoshays, you probably don't want to. If not an option, these are things you can do to help keep yourself dry, prevent bacterial infection and odor, and prevent chafing." Also added like a 4-page skincare routine that I stressed was optional but what I personally do/like in case anyone wants to take care of their skin--if anyone wants the routine, I can share it here but it's seriously excessive.
I'm irrationally terrified of flying, so here's hoping that Monday is very smooth with no sudden squalls or anything. I'm really going to miss my floofs but my mom and her BF will take excellent care of them! Currently I'm resting although I should be packing because my immune system gave out and I'm taking as much stuff as I can to knock whatever this is out of my system.

Should You Watch The Anime? (An Intro Post)
Should You Trust My Thoughts on Anime?
I figure if I’m going to be publishing my thoughts on anime, you may as well get to know some of my likes and dislikes to see if you vibe with said thoughts. Or, I guess if you don’t vibe with me, you can use my reviews to avoid the shows I do like. XD
I’m still working on a definitive Top 10 Anime list, but I’ll be honest… I may never have that list done as new shows are coming out all the time. So instead I’ll list out a few of my favorite anime in different genres to give you an idea of what I like.
Heads up that I’m a bit on the older side, plus I got into anime when I was fairly young. That means there will be shows here from a good span of decades!
Magical Girl: Sailor Moon
It’s a nostalgic pick as this was my first real anime, but it still holds up even today.
Sports: Free!
I tend to like my sports anime 80% character interaction, 20% sports.
Mecha: Neon Genesis Evangelion
A classic for a reason. I get something new from it on every rewatch.
Sci-Fi: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Deep psychological stuff mixed with cool technology in an amazingly put together show.
Isekai: Re: Zero
It’s a good and actually unique isekai with more depth than I expect from the genre.
Shoujo: Fruits Basket (2001)
Yes, I like the original better. It’s got a great mix of funny moments and tragic angst.
Shounen: Jujutsu Kaisen
This show takes the best parts of other shounen shows and puts it all together in one package.
BL: World’s Greatest First Love
Is it problematic? Yes. But I’m invested in the couples and how they will end up.
Horny: Interspecies Reviewers
Surprisingly deep world building and well animated kinky stuff? Sign me up.
???: Samurai Flamenco
I love everything about this anime. It defies genre.
Do I Hate Any Anime?
There is a redeeming feature or lesson learned from every anime I’ve watched, so you won’t see me list any hated shows here. There are certainly some anime I’ve watched that make me think I really could have spent my time better doing anything else, though. >.<
If I get bored or don’t love a show, I will not be afraid to mention that. I’m not being sponsored by anyone, so there’s no need to curb my own opinion.
My History With Anime
I’m putting this part last because you may not care about when/how I got into anime. And that’s A-Ok with me. But if you are curious, here you go.
As a very small child I was exposed to shows like Voltron, but I didn’t know it was anime at the time. Then Sailor Moon started airing on broadcast television (I didn’t have cable TV growing up), and I got absolutely obsessed.
In a perfect storm, the internet started becoming easily accessible around the same time, so I hopped online to get more Sailor Moon in my life. In doing this, I started seeing links to other recommended “anime” - which I pronounced as Anne-Nyme at the time.
Between Blockbuster, Suncoast Video, and the local comic shop (which no longer exists, sadly), I dove into the world of anime. I sank my teeth into things like the Dirty Pair movies, Ranma 1/2, Record of Lodoss War, and even pre-ordered each VHS of Neon Genesis Evangelion as it was coming out. $25.01 for each tape with 2 episodes on it (dubbed, since it was cheaper and I only had my allowance to work with). I was dedicated to the hobby.
I never stopped liking anime from that point on. I ended up leading two anime clubs (high school and college), and I still host a group of friends every week to come over and watch anime.
I'll post a link to my MAL, but it's not complete. I've seen too many shows and have forgotten some along the way. I'm concentrating more on shows I've actually completed on the MAL and probably won't mess with trying to find all the stuff I watched decades ago.
And that about wraps things up for the intro. I've been watching 10-15 shows a season lately (plus whatever we watch in anime club), so I have a lot to talk about. Let me help you figure out if you should watch the anime!

whats your fave anime?
I haven't actually watched any anime in quite some time- well, like, I haven't watched a whole series; obviously I've seen clips of things here and there. But to answer the question, the original Trigun will always hold a special place in my heart. I have a story here that starts very dark so I'll put it under the cut. There IS a happy ending to it though!
By the time I was 12 I was extremely depressed and suicidal. I wrote wills and hurt myself at school (slamming my head in my locker door mostly) and at home (lots of "accidents"). I would spend hours locked in my bathroom wondering if that wad the night I would finally bleed to death in the bathtub. I also frequented a Pokemon-centric message board. It was there that I started seeing promotional images for something called Trigun, and for whatever reason it made me curious enough to want to see it. So I got some money for my 13th birthday and I went to Suncoast (I am very old) and bought the first volume of Trigun on VHS. I watched the first four episodes and I still remember telling myself "I can't die until I see how this ends." Then the comic book store I frequented at the time got the first volume of the Trigun manga- untranslated, of course; this was 2001- so I bought it and had it, my Japanese-to-English dictionary (I got that when I got into Pokemon), and a little notebook, and I did my damnedest to try and translate the manga.
By the time I got the last volume of the anime VHS, I had started hearing about an anime and manga called Gensomaden Saiyuki, and that the Trigun creator had worked on a video game called Gungrave.
Anyway, I'm 35 now. I am not speaking hyperbolically when I say Trigun saved my life. I haven't watched it in ages (in case you're wondering, yes, I did eventually get the DVD set). And now there's a new anime?!? I really don't want to make a crunchyroll account but damn do I want to see it. JYB is back as Vash. I have tears in my eyes just thinking about that.
...
... I also really fucking dug Gankutsuou. Bast adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo ever made so far.

Marine Surveyor Fort Lauderdale - Navigating Boat Negotiations with a Marine Survey Report
When negotiating with the seller of a used boat, you can use the information in the marine survey report to gain an upper hand. Here are some of the things you should consider doing.
Review Existing Survey Reports
Don’t be in a hurry to hire your own marine surveyor Fort Lauderdale. Consider asking the seller or broker for any existing survey reports. If the reports exist, do a personal inspection of the vessel and compare your findings with what is in the survey report. Take note of any discrepancies that impact price, safety or appearance.
Make an Initial Offer
A seller will want you to give your offer as soon as possible. When making an offer, base it on the fair market value of the used boat. You should also include a contingency clause so that your offer is contingent on a satisfactory independent survey. Once an offer is made, you can go ahead and hire your own marine surveyor Fort Lauderdale for a thorough boat inspection.
Review Your Survey Report
Your marine surveyor will provide you with a survey report. Make sure you examine the report carefully and discuss with the surveyor any issues that affect your purchase decision. You can use the survey report to get quotes on repairs and upgrades from relevant service providers.
Negotiate Based on Survey Findings
With all the details in hand, you can go ahead and negotiate with the seller based on the fair market value of the vessel. The goal is to compel the seller to either take care of the required repairs or upgrades or to reduce the selling price to accommodate these expenses. Do not be afraid of walking away.
Using a marine survey report empowers fair and informed transactions. Choose a dependable marine surveyor in order to get the best advantage. Suncoast Marine Surveying is your best bet if you are in Florida. Get in touch at (954) 320-7414 to speak to an accredited marine surveyor in Fort Lauderdale.

With recent events I keep thinking of malls. How I miss my semi-regular visits to a favorite mall and just finding interesting things while there.
It's something I would love to start doing. Even though I have a post talking about one mall I liked closing down there are still plenty of malls I can still go to that are thriving. The closest one is actually only two miles away.
If I would arrange it to where I could go to one once or twice a month it would be nice.
Though while thinking of this subject again I'm once again thinking of one of my favorite malls. Not the one that had recently closed but another go-to.
The mall in question actually went though a time it wasn't really doing too great. It was on the way of becoming a dead mall. In fact I think it actually had become a dead mall for a little while.
Luckily things turned around for this mall when they went though an intensive remodeling. Today it's thriving.
Sadly there were a few stores there I loved that closed at some point. One of them because the business itself wasn't doing so well.
[Suncoast] It was one place I'd sometimes buy manga from if it didn't come from a book store. It was one of the first places that I'm aware of that would sell Pocky. Which really is interesting how Pocky can be found almost anywhere now while in the early 00's it was only a select number of specialty stores that sold them.
[China Capitol Arts] This is the store that would later be called Anime GT after relocating to the mall that had recently closed. When it was still called this they mostly had Asian styled home goods while having a small selection of anime and video game goods. One thing I remember clearly getting from there were the soundtracks to Kingdom Hearts [1 and 2] as well as the one for Final Fantasy VII.
After the move to Lakeside they restructured to be more focused on the anime and video game goods. Though I do admit most of the time I came here it was for the Japanese candy since they had plenty of that.
[Books a Million] After the closing on one book store chain I would start coming to this bookstore. There was a location in the mall. Though I liked this store while it was in the mall it didn't last long for some reason. [Though this was when it was on the way of being a dead mall so it could have been because of that.]
But the thing that really sucks is that there are no other local Books a Million. But there is still Barnes & Noble. I love that place.

Preview the Sarasota Anime Fest happening this weekend| Suncoast View (April 25th, 2024)
Hey didn't even mentions only his friend Chrissy and Bee gees against it BG himself is against it and he is very good reason except to try and kidnap our son and he's a loser everyone can see it just right back screwed up every time it's been thousands of time the guys of moron and really who's the kidnapping people some people are getting wise to what they're living happen here and they are starting to take this idiots down finally it won't be too much longer and they will start to be out here they are dangerous terrorists now morlok are experiencing a higher volume of loss of the morrlock. The loss is getting higher and as the night progresses people are tired of them walking around in costume threatening people getting beat up trying to come back with more just sick of them they're going out after them and finding where they are and obliterated them pretty soon there won't be any of them it's a huge number of them they're getting killed the hourly attrition is up to 0.35%, it's getting high and just a few hours they would be knocking out 1% and that's just through infighting and small town fights stop by the big game it was fine. Other things are deteriorating their ranks in addition the space battles yet we were not considering them as part of the population usually they don't and on here on Earth they are going to the Giants like madness it is what his brother used to be like and what he was doing to be like and they remembered what Giants do and they are going to the holes to try and destroy them and they have toys and they have devices it begins the bad backs mad Max serious and yeah in earnest and there's a lot of stuff all over the world that's going to happen everywhere you look you will see mad Max cars in mad Max outfits and mad Max symbols and it means that they're giant hunters and they're hunting them to destroy them and our son says and daughter it doesn't seem like it that is true they would have different stuff and that's just what they're doing they're moving fast and they're getting there and you got to try to take them over.
-further without receptacle to put your junk into rappers scraps of paper it's despicable
-I don't have a lot of things to talk about and he's too tired he says we have to spell it out and we'll try
In addition to space there are a lot of fights on the ground that are costing them a lot of people and they have always and this is the basketball lock and Mac morlock they have about 10% of the world's population and that's off the island and increased because we were at 11:45%, plus a half a point there are a couple other things
-there's a ton of them pour it out in the street at some locations and they're trying to find people the max and then they say us to capture and they are despicable right now they haven't found anybody but they're doing their newer
-we didn't have a ton of time but I would tell you that we did see a lot of you die tonight and we meet him warlock I'm excited to die here and all over the world it's a percentage point but that's a lot and in large part it's attrition meaning the ray just got up it's pretty high per hour at 0.38% means up a little that's pretty high as others things happening really that's that's a pretty high percentage yeah a lot of things going on but there's now a war developing and it is over the diamonds for lasers and nozzles they're looking it's a huge huge war and some of these nozzles and so gigantic they can't believe it.
-the islands are swarming his people and they are trying to go down and then getting ready. There are a lot of people who are going down there now and evacuation is on and it started yesterday but it's been increasing. Right now the warlock are evacuating the Earth is 10% of their number to the two islands.
You also wrote about here in a couple days Thor friend and Freya Elizabeth

I was born in '85, grew up in the '90s, I've tried to explain the concept of The Mall to kids nowadays and failed. "it's just a bunch of stores" "lol crying over capitalism" "just buy what you want online" you don't get it. it was more than that. there was more. you could spend all day there. doing nothing. doing everything. there were fountains. throw a coin, make a wish. look in the water and gawk at the hundreds of thousands of other wishes, wondering how many of them came true. you 'spose anyone cleans these coins out of the fountains? wonder how much that is in dollars. go to the food court, meet your friends, each of you get something from a different stall (counter? vendor? there's actual sit-down restaurants in the mall but these ain't it. we'll call it a stall) and then all of you steal off everyone else's tray. try on hats you'll never buy. dare each other to go into The Weird Section at Spencers. go to Suncoast and pick out some new VHS tapes for a sleepover. or just spend all afternoon in the arcade until your quarters ran out and you couldn't talk dad into giving you more; I used to be real mean on the air hockey table. the mall I worked at had a Borders book store right smack dab in the middle of the whole building, and I don't know if I can convey the beauty of a three-story book store in words. it had its own escalators
and sure, "a place to spend money" is what The Mall was designed to be, intended to be, but since when have people used a thing the way it was intended if there was a funner option? some of my best memories took place in a mall, whether I was there for fun or there with a job to do
and it's gone now, or going away fast. the mall I used to go to all the time as a kid isn't dead yet, but it's certainly elderly; it's lost two of its anchor stores, if not a third, and it only had the four to start. it's not very big, as far as malls go, but when I was a kid it was huge, it was a different world. I wish y'all could'a been there. I wish y'all'd seen it. but it got sacrificed on the alter of cost-effectiveness; after all, why bother with a brick-and-mortar location when "you can just buy it online?"
make no mistake, I do blame capitalism for the loss of what could cynically be referred to as a temple for capitalism; it felt like a gutpunch the first time I went to my childhood mall and saw that they removed the fountains and filled in that whole sitting area so that they could put a fucking starbucks in the middle of the mall
"My childhood was so awesome. Kids today don't even know!"
Isn't a flex.
It's a lament.
More people should understand that.

Friday Releases for February 9
Friday is the busiest day of the week for new releases, so we've decided to collect them all in one place. Friday Releases for February 9 include Lisa Frankenstein, Out of Darkness, Drop 7, and more.
Lisa Frankenstein
Lisa Frankenstein, the new movie from Zelda Williams, is out today.
A coming of RAGE love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.
Out of Darkness
Out of Darkness, the new movie from Andrew Cumming, is out today.
A small boat reaches the shores of a raw and desolate landscape. A group of six have struggled across the narrow sea to find a new home. They are starving, desperate, and living 45,000 years ago. First they must find shelter, and they strike out across the tundra wastes towards the distant mountains that promise the abundant caves they need to survive. But when night falls, anticipation turns to fear and doubt as they realize they are not alone. Terrifying sounds suggest something monstrous at large in this landscape, something that could kill or steal them away. As relationships in the group fracture, the determination of one young woman reveals the terrible actions taken to survive.
Cobweb
Cobweb, the new movie from Jee-woon Kim, is out today.
In the 1970s, Director Kim is obsessed by the desire to re-shoot the ending of his completed film ‘Cobweb’, but chaos and turmoil grip the set with interference from the censorship authorities, and the complaints of actors and producers who can’t understand the re-written ending. Will Kim be able to find a way through this chaos to fulfill his artistic ambitions and complete his masterpiece?
Suncoast
Suncoast, the new movie from Laura Chinn, is out today.
Inspired by the semi-autobiographical story of a teenager (Nico Parker) who, while caring for her brother along with her audacious mother (Laura Linney), strikes up an unlikely friendship with an eccentric activist (Woody Harrelson) who is protesting one of the most landmark medical cases of all time.
The Taste of Things
The Taste of Things, the new movie from Anh Hung Tran, is out today.
Set in France in 1889, the film follows the life of Dodin Bouffant (Benoît Magimel) as a chef living with his personal cook and lover Eugénie (Juliette Binoche). They share a long history of gastronomy and love but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.
Upgraded
Upgraded, the new movie from Carlson Young, is out today.
Ana (Camila Mendes) is an ambitious intern dreaming of a career in the art world while trying to impress her demanding boss Claire (Marisa Tomei). When she’s upgraded to first class on a work trip, she meets handsome Will (Archie Renaux), who mistakes Ana for her boss– a white lie that sets off a glamorous chain of events, romance and opportunity, until her fib threatens to surface.
The Monk and The Gun
The Monk and The Gun, the new movie from Pawo Choyning Dorji, is out today.
The Monk And The Gun captures the wonder and disruption as Bhutan becomes one of the world’s youngest democracies. Known throughout the world for its extraordinary beauty and its emphasis on Gross National Happiness, the remote Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan was the last nation to connect to the internet and television. And if that weren’t enough change, the King announced shortly afterwards that he would cede his power to the people via their vote and a new form of government: Democracy.
An elderly lama (Kelsang Choejey), recognizing that extraordinary change is about to sweep through his country, is troubled by the possible outcomes. He instructs his young disciple Tashi (Tandin Wangchuk) to set forth into the kingdom and bring him two guns before the full moon to “set it right.” The young monk is perplexed by his guru’s request, and his familiarity with guns is based solely on images from the only film available on television: James Bond. His quest brings him into contact with a scheming American gun collector Ron (Harry Einhorn), leading to a most unexpected outcome.
Drop 7
Drop 7, the new album from Little Simz, is out today.

when i was a minor the internet was still new enough that it was hard to find specific things
and also it was early enough in Web Existence that i was 100% certain id be hacked or get a virus if i clicked the wrong search result
(also for a lot of it my parents could see what i searched/looked at bc i was dumb and didnt know abt history so i was real careful abt what i typed too)
so imagine how i feel in 2023 as an adult reading ripped scanlations of any yaoi manga i please on a seedy website that didnt exist in My Yaoi Era and seeing just. countless blatant and even self confessed minors in the comments making thirsty statements about dicks and smut and talking about the actually vile Bad ones they read when they were 12 (2 years ago) etc etc
its. horrifying. not only bc theres people with literally "so what im 14 f**k off haters" as a signature talking about how badly they want a giant cock to ride (and no this is not a site where meeting/messaging/talking to people is a thing so i do NOT think its posing pedos at all) but because i know for a fact that if i was their age during this era i would be right there with them. except for the wanting cock thing tbh i was always more into the romance--coming to terms with gay feelings stories hit hard for my confused budding bisexual kid ass. but i would still be one of those, actual children, happily consuming explicit adult content thinking im so mature for my age and getting all sorts of wrong ideas about what is and is not okay in a relationship or just life
like at least i was limited to what was offered on the shelves at barnes & noble and suncoast (and atomic comics, RIP). Stuff officially translated by US companies and stocked in normal bookstores in the 2000's tended not to even show censored wieners, it was all cut off or hidden by spans of magical fuzz or what have u. and even if i wanted more, i wasnt sure how to find it online and if i DID find it i was fairly certain it would break the computer and get my ass in huge trouble
youre not mature for your age, i promise. youre just fucking up your own brain before its fully developed because much as kids SAY they can separate fiction from reality... youre not so good at it. you dont recognize which parts are the fanstasy and which parts are not in these placed-in-the-real-world romance and smut stories. you see obvious manipulation like romantic interest telling main guy not to hang out with other guys bc he gets mad when hes jealous and call red flag but then post heart eyes when its subtle because ohh thats just loyalty thats just love, minor obsession IS romance and the best-friend side character that keeps trying to help their main character friend recognize the toxicity is just annoying
like yall dont even know what youre saying its killing me inside
i hope you dont make the same idiot mistakes and allow the same shitty things as i did in my early romantic endeavors. i hope you come to understand what real love looks like sooner than i did even while having been exposed to so much less. god, i hope.
#readmore'd for long ramble#it stresses me out ngl#im so worried for all these kids#its not my business obviously i dont know any of them irl and have no place telling them what to do#but dear lord#im literally speaking from experience here this is 100% what groomers want you to be doing#its so easy to sweep a kid off their feet after being fed this shit bc Creepy Behaviors are normalized to them#then they never question why a supposed 15 yo boy would want to cyber with an 11 yo girl bc theyre too infatuated by the attention

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes
It’s time for this week’s Horrible-Scopes! So for those of you that know your Astrological Signs, cool! If not, just pick one, roll a D12, or just make it up as you go along. It really doesn’t matter.
Drive-In movie season has begun. Remember going with your family when you were younger? Let’s take you back 10 years to see what the worst Second Feature in a Double-Play ticket might have been.
Aries
What do you get when you mix Michael Bay, the Rock and a ripped Mark Wahlberg? The highly forgettable ‘Pain and Gain’; the story about a group of ex-convicts and bodybuilders convicted of kidnapping, extortion, torture, and murder in Miami in the mid-1990s. This week skip the gym. Leg Day can wait.
Taurus
We have high hopes for your taste in entertainment and that you’re unfamiliar with ‘Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa’. With a budget of $15M it earned TEN TIMES its cost. This week watch an episode of, “OW! MY BALLS!” instead.
Gemini
Ridley Scott is an amazing director, known for some amazing movies like Alien, Blade Runner, and the Apple 1984 commercial. To say that his crime-thriller, ‘The Counsellor’ opened to a worldwide collective shrug would be about right. This week be content with just being “OK”.
Cancer Moon-Child
It’s safe to say that most movies with Johnny Depp do great in the entertainment circles. Pairing him with Armie Hammer as a character that hadn’t seen a movie since 1981 might have been a mistake. 2013’s ‘The Lone Ranger’ was… poor. This week try to remember what Tonto’s Horse’s name was.
Leo
If you want to enjoy the Sports Illustrated Bikini Issue on the big screen, look no further than the curious movie, ‘Spring Breakers’. Is it brilliant commentary on today's youth or a sexist, boring, ludicrous exploitation movie? We don’t know, and truth be told we don’t care. This week just throw away your Suncoast Video Rental card.
Virgo
If you take Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine, and set them in a universe where sleight-of-hand magic almost is magic, you get ‘Now You See Me’. But, see, the problem is… when you have the literal embodiment of GOD in your film, how can you not just come to the obvious conclusion that he’s the one making all the magic happen? This week order a bowl of tomato soup.
Libra
Remember when Disney used to make some amazing live-action films? They did ‘Treasure Island’, ‘Old Yeller’, ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’, ‘TRON’, and ‘Flight of the Navigator’. For your movie we’re sad to say it’s ‘Saving Mr. Banks’. This week go watch ‘Old Yeller’... and bring some tissues.
Scorpio
Remember when ‘Die Hard’ was a fun escapist movie? Even ‘Die Hard 2’ was pretty good. And we could have left it there, but NO! ‘Die Hard with a Vengeance’ then ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ and then FINALLY we come to your movie… ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’. Enough is enough. This week don’t go to the movies; read the 1979 novel ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ by Roderick Thorp instead.
Sagittarius
A Sandra Bullock and George Clooney movie could have been a fun outing, but ‘Gravity’? It sets them in Low Earth Orbit fighting to survive Kessler Syndrome with long periods of stressful silence, trying to read Russian. Where’s the fun in that? This week renew your subscription to Duolingo.
Capricorn
The only thing more horrible than your movie is the style of clothing in it. ‘Anchorman 2’ has traditional 1970’s wide lapels, plaid pants, brown leather suit jackets, and ties that were almost wider than they were long. This week be glad you don’t have to wear those styles today.
Aquarius
How many super-hero origin movies are we going to get for the same character? Superman, Batman, Spider-man… but for you, ‘The Wolverine’. Not ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, just ‘The Wolverine’. We get it - claws, super-healing, super-sniffer, secret military test human subject… Just let Hugh Jackman do musical theatre like he really wants to.
Pisces
You don’t get off that easy either, Pisces. You get a super-hero movie too; ‘Iron Man 3’, aka “Why the hell did Sir Ben Kingsley agree to do this film?” He’s played Gandhi, Itzhak Stern, and Otto Frank. Why would he agree to be playing a two-bit washed up English actor impersonating The Mandarin?! This week… start filling your pool now. It might be ready by the time it’s warm enough to swim in it.
And THOSE are your Horrible-Scopes for this week! Remember if you liked what you got, we’re obviously not working hard enough at these. BUT! If you want a better or nastier one for your own sign or someone else’s, all you need to do to bribe me is just Let Me Know! These will be posted online at the end of each week via Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Discord.

6 Reasons Why Living in Clearwater is the Best Place to Be
Whether you are a local living in Clearwater, Florida, or new to the area, this article will give you six reasons why Clearwater is the best place to be. The city of Clearwater adheres to many principles and ideologies for making it a progressive destination. Read this article and you will learn why you should consider calling Clearwater your home.
Clearwater has a lot of things to do
Clearwater has a lot of things to do. You can go fishing, scuba diving, boating and much more. If you're into the arts, you'll find plenty of museums and galleries to visit. And if you want to relax, there are many parks and beaches throughout the city. If you want to live in a city where there's always something going on, Clearwater is definitely the place for you!
The weather is amazing
Clearwater is located in central Florida, making it one of the country's warmest places during the winter. The average temperature during December, January, and February is around 71 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius). This makes Clearwater a great place to live if you love spending time outdoors during all four seasons. In addition, because the city is located near both Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg Bay, it's not uncommon for temperatures to rise above 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) from September through November.
Clearwater is affordable
There are many other cities that claim to be affordable, but the truth is that they aren't. While you may be able to find an affordable apartment or home, it won't be in a great area. In Clearwater, you can find both an affordable apartment or house and one in a nice neighborhood.
There is always something going on
Clearwater is home to many professional sports teams, including the Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Tampa Bay Storm. There are also many festivals throughout the year that highlight different cultures and traditions. The Suncoast Arts Festival takes place each February and showcases art from around the world. The Clearwater Seafood Festival draws more than 300,000 people each March for a weekend filled with food, music, and fun! You won't want to miss out on any of these events!
The beaches are gorgeous
If you love spending time at the beach then living in Clearwater is perfect for you! The beaches are some of the most beautiful around thanks to our warm waters and white sand beaches. Whether you want to enjoy a walk along the beach or take in some sunsets, there’s plenty of room for every type of beach lover!
Clearwater is close to other great cities
Clearwater is close to a number of other popular cities in Florida. If you're looking for a place where there's a little more action than what you get in your hometown, but still want to be close enough to make weekend trips back home, Clearwater is perfect for you. It's only about an hour away from Tampa and St. Petersburg — two cities that have plenty of things to do at night and on the weekends.
Takeaway: At the end of the day, there are a lot of reasons to live in Clearwater. There's access to exciting nightlife, mild weather, and endless beaches. At times it can feel like there's no place better to be. Whether you think about moving here or not, let this list serve as a friendly reminder of some of the benefits of Clearwater living.
