T T V Dhinakaran Returns to Political Fray: A Resilient Comeback in Tamil Nadu
Introduction: T T V Dhinakaran, once a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu politics and a close aide of J Jayalalithaa, is back in action after enduring years of political turmoil. Now contesting as a BJP ally from the crucial Theni seat in the upcoming elections, Dhinakaran's resurgence is grabbing attention and challenging the ruling DMK-led alliance.
Tumblr media
Campaign Trail Insights: Campaigning in Theni, a stronghold traditionally held by AIADMK stalwarts, Dhinakaran is witnessing overwhelming support from locals. Despite setbacks, he remains a formidable contender poised to disrupt the DMK's dominance.
Key Contestants and Background: Dhinakaran faces off against Thanga Tamilselvan from the DMK camp, both belonging to the influential Thevar OBC community. The AIADMK candidate, V T Narayanasamy, is perceived as a weaker contender, potentially benefiting Dhinakaran's anti-DMK agenda.
Political Dynamics and Allegiances: Reflecting on his alliance with the BJP, Dhinakaran criticizes the DMK for alienating Hindu voters with perceived anti-Hindu rhetoric. He attributes the BJP's growth in Tamil Nadu to disillusionment caused by the DMK's approach towards Hinduism.
Sasikala's Role and Future Plans: Dhinakaran maintains that his aunt, V K Sasikala, prefers a behind-the-scenes role and trusts him to lead. He dismisses speculations linking Sasikala's absence to legal challenges, emphasizing her support for his political endeavors.
Aspirations and Legacy: Despite challenges, Dhinakaran remains steadfast in his political journey, driven by destiny and a belief in his party's vision. He hints at a potential return to the AIADMK fold, emphasizing loyalty to Jayalalithaa's legacy.
Conclusion: T T V Dhinakaran's return to the political arena underscores resilience and strategic alliances shaping Tamil Nadu's electoral landscape. As he navigates complex dynamics, Dhinakaran's resurgence adds intrigue to the unfolding political narrative in the state.

Navigating the Three-Way Tamil Nadu Election Battle: DMK's Lead, AIADMK's Challenge, and BJP's Ambitions
In the heart of Tamil Nadu's political arena, a high-stakes battle unfolds as the state gears up for the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. With 39 seats up for grabs, the landscape appears poised for another showdown between the major alliances, but this time, with a twist.
Tumblr media
Traditionally, Tamil Nadu's electoral history has witnessed a clear sweep by one of the two major alliances since 2004. However, exceptions like the split verdict of 2009 have added intrigue to the narrative. As the incumbent, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) finds itself in a familiar position of strength, reminiscent of its landslide victory in 2019. Yet, formidable challenges loom large, particularly from its longstanding rival, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in select constituencies.
The DMK's confidence stems from what many deem as Stalin's adept leadership in steering the alliance to success. However, the battleground is far from one-sided, with tough contests anticipated in West Tamil Nadu against the AIADMK and in Theni and Coimbatore against the BJP.
While the AIADMK seeks to fortify its stronghold in Western Tamil Nadu, the BJP eyes significant gains, especially in Theni and Coimbatore. Despite a lackluster performance in 2019, the BJP remains hopeful of enhancing its vote share, drawing inspiration from past electoral dynamics.
In this intricate web of alliances and strategies, the DMK's unity remains a cornerstone of its confidence. Led by Chief Minister M K Stalin, the coalition comprising the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Left Front appears resilient, buoyed by successful accommodations of allies and strategic decisions aimed at alliance cohesion.
Yet, the road ahead is fraught with uncertainties, with close contests anticipated in key constituencies like Tiruppur and Dharmapuri. However, the DMK's unwavering resolve reflects not just a commitment to victory but also a testament to its leader's astute political acumen.
As Tamil Nadu assumes significance on the national stage, with the state poised to influence the Opposition INDIA alliance's fortunes, the electoral landscape brims with anticipation and possibility. For the BJP, the focus lies not only on expanding its footprint but also on increasing its vote share, underscoring the state's pivotal role in shaping the political trajectory.
In this multifaceted electoral saga, as parties vie for supremacy and alliances navigate through the intricacies of Tamil Nadu's political terrain, the stage is set for a riveting contest that promises to redefine the state's political landscape.

BJP Forges New Paths in Tamil Nadu Politics: Reaching Out to AIADMK Rebels
In the dynamic landscape of Tamil Nadu politics, recent developments have showcased the BJP’s strategic moves as it navigates alliances and seeks to strengthen its presence in the state. With the AIADMK firm on its decision not to return to the NDA fold, the BJP has pivoted its approach, opening channels of communication with rebel AIADMK leaders O Panneerselvam (OPS) and TTV Dhinakaran.
Tumblr media
For OPS and Dhinakaran, aligning with the NDA presents a potential avenue to rejuvenate their political careers. However, the BJP’s outreach raises questions about its objectives in forging new alliances.
The announcement from AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami reaffirming the party’s stance against reuniting with the BJP provided clarity for the national party. Following this, the BJP swiftly moved to engage with OPS and Dhinakaran, acknowledging their interest in collaboration.
OPS, who had been waiting for a decisive move from the BJP, resumed political activity in his hometown of Theni. Sources close to him revealed his disappointment with the BJP’s hesitance to extend an offer, especially amidst ongoing negotiations with the AIADMK.
The BJP’s message to OPS and Dhinakaran reportedly includes an invitation to share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to Tamil Nadu. This gesture signals the BJP’s willingness to integrate the rebel leaders into its fold, recognizing their potential to influence local politics.
For Dhinakaran, whose political journey has been fraught with challenges, joining the NDA offers a chance at redemption. Despite facing legal hurdles and setbacks, his association with the BJP could provide a platform to rebuild his political stature, particularly in the wake of his aunt Sasikala’s reluctance to reenter the fray.
As the NDA gears up for seat-sharing discussions, OPS and Dhinakaran eye a significant share of seats in Tamil Nadu. Leveraging their respective support bases, they aim to secure representation in key constituencies, including Theni, Ramanathapuram, and Sivaganga.
Meanwhile, the AIADMK faces challenges in forming a formidable alliance to rival the DMK-led front. The uncertainty surrounding its partnership with the DMDK and ongoing negotiations with the PMK underscore the party’s dilemma.
The PMK, cognizant of its diminishing electoral clout, is bargaining hard with both the AIADMK and the BJP. However, its dwindling performance in recent elections underscores the need for a strategic alliance to remain relevant in Tamil Nadu politics.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the BJP’s overtures to AIADMK rebels signal a recalibration of its strategy in Tamil Nadu. With alliances taking shape and negotiations underway, the state braces for a crucial electoral battle, where every alliance and partnership could tip the scales of power.

The DMK improved its performance in the southern region, making a near sweep in the urban local bodies elections. Not only did the ruling party capture the major corporations, including the Madurai Corporation Council but it also humbled AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam in his native Theni district.
Though the south was once known as the AIADMK’s fortress by virtue of the backing it enjoyed from the Mukkulathors, the DMK had sprung an occasional surprise.
On Tuesday, the DMK shocked the AIADMK by emerging victorious in the municipality of Periyakulam, which is not only Mr. Panneerselvam’s home town but also a civic body that he had presided over as chairman during 1996-2001 before entering the Assembly in 2001 and going on to hold the post of Chief Minister thrice.
The ruling party delivered another shocker when it captured the Kuchanoor town panchayat, which falls under the Bodinayakanur Assembly constituency, represented by Mr. Panneeerselvam. The only consolation for the AIADMK came in the form of the victory of O. Shanmugasundaram, the younger brother of Mr. Panneerselvam, in the Periyakulam municipality.
In almost every southern district, the DMK emerged victorious.
DMK Dindigul district secretary and Minister I. Periasami told The Hindu that this was a victory for the good governance of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, a view endorsed by Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan. As defeat stared it in the face by around 11 a.m., the AIADMK offices in Dindigul, Theni, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari wore a deserted look.
In Thoothukudi, the DMK registered a splendid victory, bagging 50 of the 60 Corporation wards. The DMK women’s wing leader, K. Kanimozhi, who had extensively campaigned in the region, led a victory rally in the evening to thank the voters.
In Kanniyakumari district, where the DMK had suffered a shocking defeat in the last Assembly election, the party made a comeback, winning the Nagercoil corporation. The DMK went on to win in Virudhunagar, Sivakasi, Ramanthapuram and Sivaganga districts.
The Madurai Corporation, which has 100 wards, turned a DMK fort after 67 wards went in favour of the ruling party alone. The Congress bagged five wards and the CPI(M) got 4 wards. The AIADMK secured 15 wards, the Independents won in 8 wards and the BJP opened its account by winning in one ward.
The DMK emerged victorious in 23 of the 27 wards in the Melur municipality. It also registered victory in the Thirumangalam and Usilampatti municipalities, considered the AIADMK’s strongholds.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021 | AIADMK MLAs will behave as BJP agents, says Stalin
Tumblr media
DMK president M K Stalin on Thursday reiterated his charge that if an AIADMK candidate was elected legislator in the April 6 general election, he/she would behave like a BJP MLA in the House. Therefore, there was a need to defeat the AIADMK and BJP candidates in every constituency, he said at an election campaign in Tiruvannamalai. He charged that AIADMK Theni MP is behaving like a BJP MP having Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo on his letter pad. Canvassing votes for former minister E V Velu (Tiruvannamalai) and other DMK candidates K. Pichandi, M.P. Giri, K.V. Sekaran, Ambethkumar, Saravanan, S.S. Anbazhagan and O. Jothi contesting in Kilpennathur, Chengam, Polur, Vandavasi, Kalasapakkam, Arani and Cheyyar respectively, he said the party had fielded candidates in all eight seats in Tiruvannamalai and urged the cadres to ensure their victory. “Kalaignar(late DMK leader M Karunanidhi) created Tiruvannamalai district in 1989. Tiruvannamalai is a spiritual place. DMK has made several promises related to Hindu Religious Endowments and Charitable Department – ₹1,000 crore for temple consecration, cable car in hill station temples, renovate temples without affecting its historicity, expand shlokas in Tamils, appointment of qualified priests from all castes, concrete path for Giri Valam,” he pointed out. “Whenever there is an election, the parties that oppose DMK will say that we are against Hindus. I would like to say that we are not against anyone’s religious belief. My government will respect all religious beliefs. I assure you that. Those who use religion in politics must understand that this is Tamil Nadu- Tamil people have clarity that politics is different and spirituality is different. The BJP will take 100 years to understand this – they have no brains,” he said.
BJP rule for Hindi speaking people
Pointing to the fact that BJP released its candidate list in Hindi, Mr. Stalin said, “Their rule is a rule for Hindi speaking people. They want to impose Hindi and are trying to provide jobs for Hindi speaking youngsters in Tamil Nadu and they are trying to grow through that. Palaniswami and the group may become bystanders to this, but DMK and Tamil people won’t stand and watch.” Mr. Stalin reiterated that they are not against the Hindi language or hate North Indian States. “Please understand that we are not against Hindi, but don’t impose it on us. We don’t hate North Indians, but education and jobs should be reserved for Tamils. Can we go to other States for jobs as huge groups? BJP government in States is reserving jobs for those people in the State. New Education Policy is a 'Kula Kalvi Thittam' (hereditary occupation),” said Mr. Stalin. The elections should be treated as an ideological war, not just to sit in the throne. “We can save the future of our youngsters. Don't treat this as an election. It is an opportunity to save our ideology. A war to save Tamil Nadu that was built over 50 years. We must win it,” he said. Mr. Stalin spoke first about E.V. Velu. “Velu has been a minister and is managing the district for the party. He had the goodwill of Kalaignar,” said Mr. Stalin. Supporting Mr. Sekaran who is contesting against AIADMK’s Agri Krishnamoorthy, Mr. Stalin said that Jayalalithaa had sidelined him for his corrupt activities. “Only after the death of Jayalalithaa, he gained prominence again and has become the ticket in Polur. I am sure that the people would sideline him as much as Jayalalithaa,” he said. Mr. Stalin also spoke about DMK promises such as monthly salary, reduction in fuel prices, free travel in public buses for women and others. Source link Read the full article

AIADMK loses badly in Theni
23/02/2022
Special Correspondent THENI
As it has done elsewhere in the State, the DMK romped home in the urban local bodies polls in Theni district, considered to be a bastion of the AIADMK, wherein stalwarts like late M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa had won and became Chief Ministers.
The DMK emerged victorious in all the six municipalities in the district, including Periyakulam, the hometown of former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who himself had been the chairman of the municipality in the past.
The real shock for the AIADMK cadre came from Kuchanoor town panchayat, which falls under Bodinayakkanur Assembly Constituency, from where Mr. Panneerselvam was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2021.
The DMK won in 11 out of the 12 wards, while an Independent emerged victorious in a ward.
The only consolation for the AIADMK was the victory of O. Shanmugasundaram, the younger brother of Mr. Panneerselvam, who contested in a ward in Periyakulam municipality.
In Theni, Cumbum, Bodi, Chinnamanur, Gudalur and Periakulam municipalities, the DMK won hands down, and the party cadre were celebrating it by bursting crackers and distributing sweets to the public.

A postal ballot paper for Andipatti assembly by-election, which was already marked for an AMMK candidate, was also found on the premises and seized, they said. The district collector and the Superintendent of Police reached the spot and supervised the security, he said. The district police has filed an FIR against a number of persons, he added. via Today Bharat Alleging large-scale malpractices in the election to 38 Lok Sabha and by-poll to 22 Assembly Constituencies in the State, TTV Dhinakaran of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) asked the Election Commission to answer about the non-registration of votes for his party in the election in a number of polling booths across the State. nbsp;Speaking to media persons in Chennai on Sunday he said that, as per preliminary reports, the party candidates have not secured even a single vote in nearly 300 polling booths. The party posted one booth agent in all the booths and they would have at least four members in their families. They would have voted for the AMMK candidate and each party candidate would have secured at least four votes, he reasoned. Party candidates failed to get even a single vote in Avadi and Madhavaram seats and failed to win a single seat in the Lok Sabha polls, with some even forfeiting their deposits. The party's total vote share was less than 5%. nbsp;He asked, ldquo; If in a particular booth if we got zero votes, are you telling me that even our party workers did not vote for us? In a booth, I have at least 100 people who are associated with me, my family, my friends, my associates, we got just 14 votes. Only the Election Commission can answer this question, rdquo; he added. nbsp;nbsp; nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; nbsp; AMMK candidates had failed to get even a single vote in Avadi and Madhavaram seats and failed to win a single seat in Lok Sabha polls, with some even forfeiting their deposits. The partyrsquo;s total vote share was less than five per cent. nbsp; The AMMK leader, said details were being collected and would shortly be presented to the poll body. The office bearers of the party will meet in Chennai on June 1 to discuss the partyrsquo;s poor performance in the election. Dhinakaran has directed all State and District level office bearers to attend the meeting. Dhinakaranrsquo;s comments come after the DMK called on the Election Commission to explain the suspicious movement of EVMs and VVPAT machines in the Theni and Erode constituencies. Several other opposition parties, including the Congress, expressed similar concerns regarding EVM movement and storage across the country the day before counting and kept all-night vigils outside storerooms.

PM Modi corners Cong on “Nyay,” asks justice for “Anyay”
The Prime Minister addressing a poll rally, a day after the marketing campaign by Congress president Rahul Gandhi in this article, alleged the Congress and dishonesty ended up best good friends but sometimes “by error,” they conclusion up speaking the truth.
“Now they are saying “Ab Hoga Nyay” (justice will be performed now) even if they did not intend, they have admitted that all they have finished is “Anyay” or injustice for 60 extensive years,” (in the course of the Congress rule), he reported.
“I want to question the Congress bash who will do Nyay to the victims of 1984 Sikh riots ?
…who will do Nyay to all the victims of anti Dalit (violence), who will do Nyay to the government of fantastic M G Ramachandran ji, which was dismissed by the Congress just because a single loved ones did not like individuals leaders.”
…who will do Nyay to the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy, amid the worst environmental disaster in India.”
The Primary Minister pointed out that such infamous incidents occurred through the Congress rule.
If Rahul Gandhi invoked Tamil pride and Dravidian legacy to goal BJP’s Hindutva line, Modi these days countered it by pointing to Tamil Nadu’s spiritualism, late AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa and the welfare of Srilankan Tamils.
Modi mentioned: “I spend homage to the wonderful MGR and Jayalalithaa ji. India is proud of these two legendary leaders who lived and worked for the weak. their social welfare techniques ensured lakhs of people today are free of charge from poverty.”
