#Thena is like your ex?

Note
could we possibly get a little angsty mermaid au action? missing that one! thank you for continuing to share your masterpieces with us!
I almost didn't recognise you, it's been so long.
Thena blinked, the only time needed for her friend to go from being a speck in the distance to right in front of her. She sighed, bubbles rising from her mouth. Sorry.
What's wrong? Makkari asked, despite her feelings about Thena spending more time on land than in the water, these days. She swam around her friend, resting on a sandbank like a beached whale. It must be bad for you to leave your precious human.
Thena snarled her lips, letting her fangs poke out. She turned over in the sand, her tail dusting it up around them. "Leave it alone."
Makkari swam around to her other side, though, real concern on her face now. Hey, it was a joke. Is there something I should know?
Thena's lip wobbled. If she were on land, her eyes would be pouring salt. They had done so a few times, like when she was sick, or when she watched a heartbreaking movie with Gil that felt very much like how they had come to fall in love.
But underwater, the vacuum of it swallowed her sorrows. Her gills expanded and contracted with her heavy heart. "We are quarrelling."
You and the land walker? Makkari tilted her head a few times, the gold charms she liked on the ends of her hair floating with the motion. What did he do?
Thena swiped at her eyes, another human habit she had picked up. She sighed again, adjusting herself on her sand bed. He didn't do anything. I...I learned something.
Makkari - against any mer's instincts and natural inclination - also settled herself on the sand. She rested her chin on her arms folded in front of her, the red sparkle of her scales reflecting on the beautiful tone of her skin. She raised her brows.
Thena smiled at her friend. There was nothing about the ocean she missed quite so much as Makkari. We were out walking in town. A woman approached Gil, and he knew who she was. They spoke for some time, and he introduced me. She seemed nice.
Makkari nodded along with her very factual recounting of the story. She was used to it with her, after all. She would ask her questions as they came.
I asked Gil who she was when we got back to the boat. Thena blinked, laying her head on the sand again like a pathetic guppy lost in a strange reef. She was his mate.
Makkari shot up again, her tail swishing and her hands poised as if she had the human man's throat there for the strangling. His what?!
Thena nodded, feeling the rush of foolishness and resentment and anger and envy all over again. Humans don't mate for life. Apparently, it is not uncommon for them to have numerous partners.
It wasn't that it was impossible for mers to have multiple mates. Sometimes things didn't work out, that wasn't so incomprehensible. But it wasn't something taken lightly, to become bound mates at all. Certainly it wasn't common to encounter someone's past mate and strike up pleasantries.
She nuzzled the sand, pressing her temple to it in a poor substitute for the soft but firm feeling of Gil's chest under her. He said it was a long time ago. That they had been young and parted amicably. That they were 'still friends'.
Makkari watched the way she punctuated his verbatim statement. She lifted her lips around her fangs. That sounds like a clown who wants more than one anemone.
She agreed. It was hard to communicate that to him, though, when all she had felt was rage. Anger with him for smiling at his past mate wit her right there, on his arm no less! How dare he greet this woman so normally as if they hadn't been entangled from the inside out?!
She knew it was normal for them. She knew Gil didn't mean to hurt her and she knew that she shouldn't have thrown herself right over the side of the boat to avoid him. But just the sight of him made her want to shatter coral right off his thick skull.
Humans actually had very thin skulls compared to theirs, Sersi said.
What else did he say?
Thena shook her head. The sun moved above them, or a cloud did, and she lost her comforting warm spot. She let herself drift off the sand and listlessly ride the currents around them.
Hey, Makkari nudged her arm as she began swimming next to her. I never thought I'd see the day you were limping around because of some bull.
Nor did she, in all honesty. But she had never felt quite like this, either. She let herself drift down and down until some shelves of coral made themselves known. Her tail flopped limply after her; the tail Gil said was so beautiful.
Makkari swam to face her again. Now I'm really worried.
"Sorry," Thena squeaked out. She couldn't help it. She wanted to be in a bed and to tug the covers up over her head. She wanted to run a hot bath and fold herself up in it, letting just her tail hang out in the open air.
Okay, Makkari also sighed, moving to lean against the edge of her coral refuge. I may not be the biggest admirer of your...human. But I know how much you care about him. Are you going to go back to him?
Of course--of course she would. She just came to get out her feelings. The question of going back or not was not even an option. But maybe that was part of the problem. Thena looked at her oldest and dearest friend in all the seas. Kari, I can't leave him. We're...
Makkari's eyes widened. Perhaps she'd had some inkling of things, but this was a damning admission nonetheless. She waved her fingers. You, and him, you're...you mated with him?!
Thena pursed her lips, tempted to roll over again as if she were in bed at home. "You don't have to make that face."
How is that...how? Makkari concluded, rather mildly all things considered.
How humans do it, Thena sufficed to say. She didn't have to go over the gruesome details.
To her credit, Makkari restrained herself from further reaction. She crossed her arms again. Do you feel different?
She did, but she also didn't. She had never taken a mate of her own kind, but she had never even desired to. With Gil...it had happened so naturally, come of natural events. Perhaps she had experienced new mate-hood, in which she had become so infatuated that she had nary desired to leave Gil's side.
But then she thought of the human woman again, of her hanging on Gil's arm, and kissing him and eating his food. And it made her stomach clench like when she had fallen ill with a human 'bug'.
Thena blinked as she felt the touch of a hand on her arm. Makkari gave her a sympathetic look. Mers were not the type to exchange physical gestures meaninglessly, and they in particular were not partial to it. But she smiled, "thanks."
Makkari patted her arm before fiddling with the gold on her fingers (also stolen little trinkets). Well, you'll go back, you said. When?
She was asking if Thena would stay in the water for some time. But she hadn't considered it. For all she had done to storm off and leave poor Gil all alone in the small motorboat, she hadn't considered staying past the height of the moon. For how miserable she was feeling, she still wanted to return to his arms to sleep.
How foolish mating with a partner made someone.
I don't know, Thena answered more properly. She at least lifted herself from the coral. I wanted time to think clearly.
Makkari shrugged. Bulls--what can be done about them?
Thena offered a somewhat sardonic but genuine smile. She was inclined to agree, but she still wished to return to her bull in question. I promise I will return soon, and in better spirits.
Makkari followed her as she began swimming upward again. As soon as she had tossed herself from the boat, she had swam straight down, desiring nothing more than getting Gil out of her sight. Does Ikaris know?
Thena rolled her eyes. No, and he never can. I had to worry about him drowning Gil before they had even met. This will not help.
Fine, but I can't say I'm completely against it, Makkari offered neither her complete support nor condemnation. But it was support either way, and Thena appreciated it.
Thena eyed the bait that was hanging in the water. They weren't deep enough for mers yet, but it was deep enough that most wouldn't be fishing with a regular manual rod in such an odd spot.
Makkari beat her to it, of course, swimming right up to it. There's something tied around it.
Thena floated next to it, undoing the strip of cloth tied around the line. The ink was already being eaten at by the salt, but the sloth was scrawled with a very sad SORRY on it in horrific lettering. "Oh, Gil."
Has he just been sitting here? Makkari asked, looking up at the bottom of the boat.
That was exactly what he had been doing. Because that was Gil; he wouldn't have gone home without her. Even if she had, she would have discovered he wasn't back and come to find him. So he had stayed put, cast the line with a message for her to come back to him, unable to come after her properly.
Okay, fine, he's not bad for a human, Makkari conceded with minimal eye rolling. She gave Thena's fin a friendly smack with her own on her way past. Come back another time you don't want to just cry about your boyfriend and his legs?
Thena waved to her friend's swiftly retreating image before Makkari truly put her power into her tail and shot off with blinding speed. She did owe her more visits, and it was nice to truly swim completely uninhibited for a time.
She poked her head up slowly, the water lapping around her. It was dusk, and soon would be completely dark. She rose until she could peek over the side of the boat.
Gil was tearing another strip of fabric off his emergency canvas, writing the word over and over and over to get the ink to penetrate the cloth properly.
Oh, her sweet, sweet human man. Thena sighed, once again feeling the air in her lungs, even with her gills in her neck. She brought her hands up to the boat's edge, "Gil?"
"Th-Thena!" he startled, but his head whipped up to her. He had been crying. "Angelfish!"
The boat tipped dangerously as he rushed over to her. As much as she could get them back home, she wasn't strong enough to tip over a boat by herself. "Gil!"
He stopped his rush to hug her, or lift her out of the water and back onboard with him. His shoulders sagged, "oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry. I should have explained more--a-about my ex. I didn't mean for you to find out that way."
She still didn't enjoy the concept of Gil and his ex-mate, doing mating things. But she pulled herself up and into the boat for herself, settling on the bench, still with her tail on. "I know you were put in a difficult position, Gil. I...I shouldn't have swam off."
He plunked himself back down to the other seat by the motor. "No, I don't blame you for being mad. I probably wouldn't want to find out about any ex of yours by running into him on a date."
Yes, exactly! She had her vindication, which did soothe the stubborn part of her. But she split her tail into legs again, leaning forward. "Gil."
He let her lift his chin, happy to accept her kiss. He slipped his fingers into her hair. "I'm sorry, Angelfish. I didn't want you to get hurt like that."
It had hurt, in an odd way. Humans had such interesting concepts of pain--so internal and self reflective. But Thena smiled, running her thumb over his cheek, "I know."
He accepted her acceptance. He wasn't forgiven, but he wasn't asking for that. He reached behind him, putting his jacket over her, "let's get home, okay?"
Thena nodded, pulling the jacket up and zipping it. It was cold in the air, even as the salt beaded off her skin. "I'm sorry, I don't know where the dress ended up."
"It's okay, Cuddlefish, we can get you another one," he smiled, eager to maintain their lifted spirits. He held his arm out, inviting her to sit next to him for the boat ride home.
She obliged him, settling herself in the crook of his arm. She pressed her temple to his chest, finally soothed after the sand failed where he was succeeding. "I want that seafood stew you make for dinner."
What he called 'Jjampong' was one of her favourites, not only for the seafood, but for the pleasant spiciness it possessed.
He kissed her hair, speeding ahead and back to their home, on the island, with Titania waiting for them at the dock. "Anything you want, Thena."
She wanted him to swear to be her one and only mate from now on. But dinner would suffice for now.

The room is amazing. If you hadn’t seen it before, you could never tell that it had been filled to the core with princess things. You can’t wait to see your nephew and Rebecca, talk to both, and learn more about this new part of your lives that has just begun.
“You went all extra with the Christmas tree.” says Nick looking at the 7 ft tree that Rooster bought.
“Christmas this year is special. Let’s make it a one to remember” Bradley admits, looking at you. “Can I talk to you?”
“Oh, am, sure!”
You two move to the kitchen, Rooster seems to be a bit agitated. “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t think we should lie to Jes- well, to him”
You sigh, knowing that he’s right. How can you lie to that poor kid? You clearly haven’t thought about all the aspects of this ruse.
“Rooster, I know what you mean but… If we tell him, everyone will know. And my father will bring that girl over for you to meet her”
“Yeah, I know. I don’t think we have a choice”
Then, as if that little kid knew you were talking about him, you hear a car park “That’s not Iceman’s car” you adduce, going to open the front door. They shouldn’t be here yet.
Parked in front of the garage is Rebecca’s car. She is opening the door to your five-year-old nephew. Rebecca has a worried expression, and the kid climbs out of the vehicle, a black beanie on his head, and pulls the hoodie up to hide his face from the world.
Rooster, who is beside you, gets closer to the kid, opening his arms to give the younger one a hug. “Hey, buddy! Long time no see”
However, the kid enters the house, ignoring both of you, and runs upstairs.
“He’s been like this all the way back home. I’m sorry, guys. He was excited about his new name but well… He wants it all and he wants it now. I'm happy to see you” Rebecca says, giving each a quick hug.
“Is he okay?”
“He’s been begging me to cut off his hair” Rebecca confesses, making the two of you nod. “I told him to wait to get home, so we could look up for some haircuts and see which one he likes best but…”
“He’s still a five-year-old, Becca. It’s not gonna be easy” you tell her.
Nick joins you outside to hug his sister. “Your son has gone straight to the bathroom. He didn’t even say hi”
You look at Rooster before running all the way to the bathroom with him behind you. Everyone knows that Sarah’s special scissors for cutting Iceman’s hair are in the second drawer. And he knows too. You try to open the door, but it is closed. “Hey buddy, it’s Uncle Roos. Can you open for me?”
“No!” yells a muffled, hurt voice from the other side of the door.
“Y/n, he can hurt himself” Rooster mutters, as if you haven’t thought about it.
“I know, shut up” you knock on the door softly. “Hey bud, can you tell me your name? Mom says you got a new one.”
There’s a silence that prolongs itself for a few seconds. You hold your breath trying to hear what is happening on the other side of the door but all you can hear is the quick, pounding sound of your own heart.
“...Jesse”
“Jesse, huh? That’s such a cool name” you sit on the floor, legs crossed, waiting for this to be a long conversation.
“Thank you. I chose it myself”
“You did? Woah, Jesse. That’s amazing. Much cooler than mine”
“I’m not going to open the door” Jesse’s voice is calmer now, but still full of sadness. It breaks your heart.
“It’s okay, pal. I just wanna talk. It’s been so long since we saw each other, I think you are a lot different now”
“I’m different. But mom doesn’t want me to be different”
You look at Becca over your shoulder. She’s biting her nails off. You need Jesse to open the door. And fast.
“You sure? 'Cause your mom called us this morning and told us to change your room. She wants you to be yourself, sweetheart.”
“It’s that true?” you can hear him pout and it’s so painful to see him like that.
“We got rid of all the princesses and now your room has a lot of Paw Patrol things. And we even found Marshall’s fire truck!”
“Mom, did you do that?” the door is still closed, but he seems to be closer to it now. It's working.
“Uncle Roos and Aunt Thena helped me, but yes. I told them to do it”
“Hey, Jesse” Rooster speaks for the first time in a while. “I know what it is to hate what you see in the mirror. If you open this door, Aunt Thena and I will take you to the hairdresser, so they can get you a good haircut”
“Promise?” Jesse asks, opening the door for you to see him.
“I promise, buddy”
Jesse hugs you and Rooster and then goes to his mom. “I’m sorry, mom… I just wanted to be like the rest”
“I know, baby, I know. But you have to understand that you can’t get everything at the moment. Mom’s not a hairdresser. How was I supposed to cut your hair?”
“I’m sorry… Can I see my room?”
You all laugh at the sudden change in his tone. From being sorrowful to excited. Jesse can be a lot different now, but he’s still a kid, and he will do what a five-year-old does. Be loud, happy, get angry when he doesn’t get what he wants… Normal things for a kid.
“Let’s go see it!”
Nick, Rebecca, and Jesse go to see the room, and you stay sitting on the floor with Roos. It’s been a tiring day. And it’s not even noon.
“I’ll go get the car ready” you say, getting up from the floor and leaving Rooster alone.
I know what it is to hate what you see in the mirror
His words echo in your head, and several questions on the tip of your tongue are trying to make you turn around and find out the meaning behind his words.
You have to remind yourself for a second that you hate him, that he took everything away from you, and that if he has a problem, he has a lot of people he can talk to. He doesn’t need you.
Tumblr media
Rooster and Jesse stay at the beauty saloon, and you decide to go to a tactical gear shop nearby, hoping to find the perfect Christmas gift for your nephew. You, luckily, haven’t bought anything yet. And you hope to find a leather flight jacket for Jesse and maybe even get him his own name tag. You thought ‘Marshall’ would be cute as a call sign.
You’re going out of the shop, gift secured in your bag, when your phone begins to ring. You pull it out of your jacket, smiling at the name appearing on the screen.
“Natasha Trace, I love when you call me”
“Are you dating Rooster and you didn’t tell me?! I’M YOUR BEST FRIEND” she yells angrily in your ear. You move the phone away from your ear, but even like that you can hear her.
“Hello to you too, Nat” you roll your eyes.
“Don’t roll your eyes, you little bitch” she says, as if she could see you.
"We're not dating"
"What? Hold on, let me FaceTime you"
She hangs up and calls you again, this time you can see her face frown in a confused expression. "Spill"
"Iceman and my dad were playing matchmakers, and we didn’t want random people at our table on Christmas Eve so… we lied,” you confess, sitting on a bench outside the beauty saloon. Rooster and Jesse are still waiting.
“And here I thought you were finally getting laid”
“Natasha!” you whine, covering your face with your free hand.
“What? Facts only”
“Oh wait, you know who we met this morning?” you say, trying to change the subject.  “Mandy”
“Mandy as in Mandy the whore?” she questions.
“That one. She was with Solo. They’re dating” you reveal to your friend. Her eyes are widening more by the second.
“WHAT?! Oh my God do you think that’s why-”
“Y/N? We see each other again!”
You raise your head from the phone and see Mandy in the flesh. Gosh, you hate that stupid face she has.
“Mandy! Nat, wait a second, don’t hang up” you say while getting up “Two times in the same day, what a coincidence!”
She gives you the fakest smile ever, one that seems to be the result of years of practicing. “Yeah, it is a coincidence. Hey, Solo said that the four of us should go out one day, talk about the old times and all”
“Oh, I’d love to, but we have only this week to be with the family, and then we have to go back to the base for months and-”
“What about tomorrow?” she interrupts you, not being interested in anything you have to say. “There’s this pub in the center-”
“O’Malley’s, yeah. I know where it is. Owner’s a friend”
“See you tomorrow at 6, okay?” she insists, and you don’t have any other choice than accepting.
Jesse comes running out of the establishment and grabs your hand. “C’mon auntie, it's my turn!”
“Oh, what a beautiful baby girl! What’s your name, princess?”  Mandy says, kneeling down to Jesse’s height.
“I’m not a girl, you old bat” he says, pushing her and running away. You see how Mandy falls and slap your hand against your mouth to not laugh. From any other person, it would seem like you're embarrassed by your nephew’s actions. Those who know you well enough, however… They know you're enjoying every second of this.
“I’m sorry, Mandy. My nephew Jesse is a bit… hot-headed. I’m gonna go with him and give him an earful. We’ll see you tomorrow, okay? Bye!” you move from her quickly, almost running, and when you’re far away, Natasha laughs hysterically.
“Jesus, I love your niece” she says.
“Nephew. It’s Jesse now. I’ll tell you later, okay? Gotta go”
“Take care, Thena”
You hang up and go with the two boys. “Jesse, what you did…”
“Auntie, I know it’s wrong. I just don’t like her”
“What did you do, young man?” Rooster says, walking with him to one of the chairs.
“This old woman who was talking to Aunt Thena called me a ‘girl’. So I pushed her”
“Jess-”
“It was Mandy” you clarify.
Rooster looks at you, then at Jesse, and then at you again. He opens his hand and high-fives the five-year-old. “Don’t tell your Mom”
Tumblr media
“What are you going to wear for the party?” Sarah asks you during dinner, hours later, with a happy short-haired Jesse sitting beside you.
“What party?” you look at Rooster, but he shrugs, not having any idea what she is talking about.
“The Christmas Party! Didn’t your father tell you about it?”
You look at your father, who is very interested in the food on his plate. "He didn't tell me anything, as usual."
"Well, the town is holding a Christmas party on the 25th. A formal party. You have to wear a dress." She points at you with her fork. "You're not wearing your uniform, only a dress. Is that clear?"
"Yes ma'am. And what about Bradley?"
"I'll wear a suit, obviously. Have to match with you," he smiles and then leans to whisper something in your ear. "Please, don't choose the dress yourself. You have horrible fashion sense,"
"Says the one that is always wearing Hawaiian shirts"
"They're cool" Bradley defends himself.
"No, they're not" you laugh, and he kicks your leg under the table. "Ouch!"
"Sarah, darling, we need to do the Secret Santa sorting" Tom remembers his wife, helping her clean the table.
"Oh I have it all prepared!" She goes to the living room and comes back with a red Santa Claus hat. "All the names are in here, just pull one. Y/n, dear, you first!"
You smile at her, grabbing a paper from inside the bag and reading it. 'Rooster'.
Is this a joke or what?
Tumblr media
You're getting ready to sleep, Rooster refusing for the second night in a row to sleep in the same bed with you, when you remember that you're supposed to meet Mandy tomorrow.
"Bradley"
"No, I'm not sleeping on the bed. If you want to be that close to me, you're gonna need to beg a little more" he says.
"You wish. Anyway, Mandy said to meet tomorrow. She wasn't accepting a no for an answer."
He sits and looks at you. "Are you kidding me?"
“I don’t like the idea either, you know.” you let out.
“Is Solo coming too?” you nod, and he sighs. “You know how to say ‘no’ or do I have to teach you? It’s not that hard, look: ‘something has come up, and I can’t’, ‘We already have plans’. Oh, and this is the simplest one: ‘No.’”
“I know how to say no, Bradshaw”
He laughs dryly. “If you knew how, I wouldn't have to be in the same room with my ex and her new boyfriend. Again”
He turns off the lights and lies down. He tosses around, trying to find the most comfortable position to sleep on the hard floor.
“I’m sorry” you whisper. But you know he can hear you.
“Don’t worry, Thena. Go to sleep”
A few minutes pass, and you can’t sleep. There’s something you need to find out. Something that you can’t stop thinking about, and you know that it will keep you up all night.
“Rooster”
“Jesus, Thena, go to sleep” he complains, but after a few seconds, he gives in with a sigh of defeat. “What?”
“What you said to Jesse… about hating what you see in the mirror… Is that how you feel?”
“Like you care”
“I don’t. I’m just curious. You’re usually proud of that stupid face of yours. So… it doesn’t make sense”
He sits on the floor, his back against the bed, and his head pressed against the mattress. “It’s the scars”
“Really?” you move closer to him, your hand a few inches away from his hair.
“Yeah… It’s a constant reminder of how I almost killed us” he admits, his sorrowful voice almost a whisper.
Your hand moves automatically to your belly, your fingers finding the scarred skin. You had your own scars, too. And you wish you could tell him that it wasn’t his fault but… it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried. He still blames himself.
“If it makes you feel better, lots of girls at base are obsessed with those scars. And even some boys.”
“Why are you trying to make me feel better?” he questions, and you also want to know why.
“Because I don’t want to see you broody all day. That wouldn’t make me look like a good girlfriend” you scoff.
“Aw, it’s little Y/n worried about me?” he mocks, lying down again.
“Good night, Bradshaw” you say,  pulling the blankets over your head.
You dream about the accident. You dream about a young Rooster parking at the front of your house, ringing your doorbell repeatedly and yelling for you to open the door. It’s been years but it feels like yesterday.
Bradley’s coping mechanism when Carole died was alcohol. That same night, he got really drunk and drove to your house. It was late. When you opened the door, the emptiness in his eyes was the only explanation you needed. She was gone. And Bradley didn’t know how to live in a world without her.
You managed to get Rooster into his car, snatching the keys away from him and driving him to his home. You knew Maverick would be very worried about him.
But, you never made it to Rooster’s house. A truck driver fell asleep and swatched lanes, forcing you to swerve. The car crashed against a tree. You don’t remember a thing, just waking up with a big stomach wound and a body full of scratches.
Rooster took the worst part. People thought he wouldn’t make it, that he didn’t want to make it. He was giving up.
He opened his eyes again three days after the accident.
It wasn’t your fault. Or his. Well, he shouldn’t have driven to your house under the influence. He knows that and you, too. But nobody could have expected the truck. And he wasn’t driving when you crashed. You were driving. If someone was to take fault here, it should be you.
But it didn’t matter how much you tried to make Rooster understand that he wasn’t the one to blame. He never listened. And you know he never will.

Patience, the self-declared leader of the high court of heaven, looks on the surface to be the kind and selfless leader to those she tries to save face for, with the noble goal of wanting Heaven to be a perfect paradise for all. Her family and the other gods know the truth, thanks to her “encouragement” for them to be her version of perfect. From the people she drives away, and to the countless people she actively seeks to harm, her insidious grasp on the divine beings can be felt everywhere throughout the realms.
Valerie Wester, a plant witch staying with her aunt in Springdale, is outgoing, confident, blasé, and consumed with overwhelming hubris and pettiness. She is notorious throughout the town for a variety of things, and when she isn’t enacting meticulous revenge, saying “we learnt something new” to justify her latest bullshit, or completely failing to understand the concept of altruism, she’s casting hexes, pissing off her ‘friends’, and attempting semi-successfully to get the attention of the various gods.
Patience’s Crimes:
Pushed away one sister (Thena) to the point that she left the entire universe and convinced the other (Tempy) that her husband cheating was her own fault to encourage “improvement”, then convinced her brother to be Heaven’s executioner against his explicit wishes Framed Tempy’s husband for the murder of someone who wasn’t even dead so she could get him and his mistress kicked out of heaven and then put the ‘murder victim’ in a magic stone because she wasn’t good enough at her job, a thing she does a lot and to anyone she just doesn’t like very much. Some of them have been in there for centuries now because Patience “”“forgets”“” about them. Intense demon hatred to the point of getting a demon-hating cult leader to be her understudy and nearly getting someone killed because their brother (not even the guy himself) was trying to convince her to let demons into heaven Unintentionally started a war between heaven and hell because she indirectly caused the death of the Queen of Wrath Total unshakable belief that everything she does is for the good of Heaven. She doesn’t understand why the higher beings of Heaven have effectively disowned her
Valerie’s Crimes:
Kleptomania for use in magic spells that exist almost entirely to fuck with people and extensive breaking and entering Compulsive lying and actively manipulating her friends Fucking with her sort-of-ex (including letting him think he’s being haunted because it’s funny and not doing anything about a rumour that they hooked up because it wasn’t inconvenient for her) Liberal application of poison including to make herself sick to get out of assembly so she could go and steal things Lack of ethical consideration in spellcasting, such as accidentally cursing half the school to see terrifying demonic visions (re-traumatising an ex-infernalist and her ex’s new girlfriend in the process) and spying on her friends to read a book about elder gods A frankly inordinate amount of scheming, including deciding “I’m going to destroy the Queen Bee’s reputation in one week” because she is incapable of flirting normally (also for revenge) and nearly pulling it off, scrying on an agent of the god of trickery and deciding she wants to outwit him, and accidentally giving a venus fly trap sentience that she then used to get the fae king’s attention. Being horny on main and a monsterfucker in a Christian Town™
Other Notes: @cherry-spot’s friends are often split on calling Patience either the worst being in existence or desiring her carnally, and @toa-arania’s friends are all terrified of Val using the word “fascinating” because it means an impending Val Moment.

I Get a Suger Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 5.1
Happy whatever day it is for you, fellow Drukkari stans! We've made it to the fifth chapter, which is already further than I thought I was going to get with this! If you missed the last installment and need to catch up, you can find it here, or you can start over from the beginning here. Last time, Thena went out with a bang and some interesting advice to Druig. What will he do with it? Find out now in the next mini-chapter of Drukkari in the Great British Bake Off, with an extra special guest star!
Tumblr media
Druig had been trying to push his conversation with Thena out of his mind to no avail. While at work, he’d often found himself lost in thought as he went over his and Makkari’s interactions over the past few weeks. His co-worker at the shop had to take over most customer interactions, much to his annoyance. After the third time that week, it seemed he’d had enough. After zoning out on the job again, Druig was brought back to his senses when Hunter shoved a box of books into his arms.
“Jesus, Hunter!” was all he could get out as he tried not to topple over at the sudden weight.
“Oi! You need to snap out of whatever this is and start pulling your weight,” Hunter responded, already on the move. Druig trudged after him to the front of the store with the box.
“I’m fine,” Druig replied, not even convincing himself.
“That’s what my demonic hell beast ex-wife said right before we got divorced. Again,” he said, coming to a halt. There was no place to set down the box, so Druig simply held it as Hunter unpacked its contents. After a good minute of silence, Hunter added, “Really? No jab about the second divorce? You usually can’t resist that.”
“Too easy, and you were expecting it. Makes it less fun,” Druig mumbled.
“That’s never stopped you before,” Hunter remarked as he finished unpacking the box. He glanced out the front window of the tiny secondhand shop. With no customer in sight, he turned back to Druig and sighed. “Alright, what are you moping about this time? Did you get eliminated?”
“You know I can’t tell you.”
“Like you really care about breaking the rules.”
Hunter was staring him down now. While Druig never wanted to admit to moping, he also knew he could trust his co-worker. With a roll of the eyes, he relented.
“It’s not Bake Off. It’s more… Bake Off-adjacent.”
“What does that mean?”
“I sort of met someone on Bake Off.”
“And they haven’t been scared off by your stink face yet?”
“She has not.”
“Is that why you’ve been in a good mood the past month?” Druig raised an eyebrow at that. “Or at least less likely to put off customers with your brooding, anyway.”
“I guess so.”
“So, what’s the problem?”
“Nothing really. I just… I realized I don’t actually know how she feels about me. And asking her out is probably against the rules.”
It was Hunter’s turn to raise his eyebrows. “You’ve been around her for a month and you’re just now realizing this?”
“Things were going well enough. Guess I didn’t feel the need to find out before now.”
“Well, leave it to you to get stuck in some will-they-won’t-they after getting into baking on a dare,” Hunter said, not even trying to hide his smile.
“So you admit it’s your fault?” Druig deadpanned.
“I take no responsibility over your brooding,” he retorted. “You should probably figure out what’s going on with her, else you’re start scaring customers off again. And congrats on making it this far, by the way.”
“Did I say I was still in it?”
Hunter thought for a moment before muttering, “Bollocks,” to himself just as a customer walked in. Druig smirked as he took the empty box and retreated to the back. Hunter quickly plastered on his customer service smile as he turned around. Glancing back, Druig sniggered as he noticed his co-worker flipping him off behind his back.
-
Druig was usually quite good at keeping secrets. He’d always been quiet by default, and having been a loner for much of his life, he didn’t exactly have many people to share secrets with anyway. He’d already resolved to keep that last part of his and Thena’s conversation to himself, but despite his best efforts, it seems he couldn’t completely hide the fact that he was hiding something from Makkari. Even over text, she seemed to notice something was off. It only got worse when they met on the first morning of the fifth week.
He greeted her and the rest of their friends as usual, talking about their weeks and teasing Sersi for being late when she finally made her unintentional grand entrance. He thought he was in the clear – that is, until Makkari cornered him on the shuttle. He was seated in the back row between her and the window, with Phastos already sleeping soundly on the other side of her. They were just pulling away from the hotel when she poked him in the ribs and signed, Out with it.
Out with what? he asked, rubbing the spot where she’d poked. Luckily, he hadn’t made any noise at the surprise contact, but it had still hurt a bit.
Whatever it is you’re not saying, she replied. Something’s clearly bothering you, and I haven’t been able to figure out what it is.
Really, oh great detective? he tried to tease, but she only raised an eyebrow at him. He sighed as he said, It’s nothing.
It’s not nothing if it’s bugging you, she said, concern creeping into her steady gaze. He softened at the sight, though he was still resolved not to tell her anything. Instead, he signed, It’s nothing I won’t get over. You don’t need to worry.
She studied him, and Druig did his best to look reassuring. After a moment, she gave a slight nod before saying, Good. Can’t have you losing focused and getting eliminated.
Not a chance, he replied with a confident smirk. She smiled back, seemingly satisfied for now. That said, Druig had a feeling he hadn’t heard the end of it yet.
-
Don't know if any of you are also Agents of SHIELD fans, but welcome to Lance Hunter! Because the thought of Hunter and Druig working in a shop together makes me laugh for whatever reason 😂 Hope you enjoyed this mini-installment!

I “Shuri what are you doing”

Let Go❤️‍🔥
Let Go (snippet/blurb)
Druig x Reader
Summary: The Reader inexplicably tells her boyfriend Druig that she’s never…fully finished before.
Druig doesn’t like that, so he decides to change it for her.
Tumblr media
Warnings: This is going to be SMUT. No minors under 18 please!
A/N: This is my first real attempt of SMUT so please bear with me :-). I’m gonna make it tasteful lol. Got this idea from an almost Drabble idea thanks to @waspswidows
NO MINORS FROM HERE ON OUT! You have been warned!!
——————————
You didn’t mean for it to come out in your heavy make out session with Druig.
You two have been together for several months, amost a year really, and Druig was willing to take baby steps with you when it came to being physical.
When you first got together, you warned Druig about your last relationship going up in flames because of your ex going too fast physically. It scared you, yet Druig reassured you that he was willing to go slow for you.
The both of you were already in love, so it was harder to wait. But you had a good reason.
You see, you’ve never orgasmed before
Druig never knew this, and you didn’t want him to know. You felt like too timid to say it, since it seemed like everyone else has.
It was also the main reason you and your ex broke up. It hurt his pride, and he was prick about it anyways
So there you were, wrapped up in a heavy make out session on your couch in your apartment. Thankfully Makkari, your best friend and roommate, was staying at Thena Gilgamesh’s house for the weekend so you two had the place to yourselves.
Druig pushed you slightly against the couch with a deep kiss, your body leaning in out of a reaction before you inhaled sharply.
He pulled away fast, perched over you and looking at with dilated eyes, flushed cheeks and deep red lips
“Sorry! I’ll slow down,” he breathed out, though you covered your face. That warmth was in the pit of your stomach and in your groin, yet you knew that if you went further, it was never going to fulfill you. Maybe you were broken to not climax.
He paused, reaching up to lace your fingers with his own, “Hey, what is it?”
“You’ll laugh” you said in groan
“I’d never,” he hummed back. You slowly uncovered your face, seeing him stare at you lovingly. You decided to take the plunge
“I’ve never had a orgasm!” You blurted out form below him, seeing him look a pinch shocked at you. You knew this was going to happen, even with your boyfriend.
You were about to get up and retreat to your bedroom when Druig caged you into the couch, snapping out of his initial shock and leaning into you. You saw love in his eyes.
“You know, that’s not something to be ashamed of,” he reasoned. You squirmed a bit a he touched your neck with his calloused fingers.
“It isn’t?” You asked meekly
“Not at all, babe,” he answers calmly then biting his lip, almost looking at your lips teasingly, “actually, I can..help you with that if you want,”
A sliver of shock hit your spine as you were watching him above you.
“You can?” You whispered. Druig nodded, kissing your nose and nuzzling it.
“It would be a honor. Only if you want me to, though. I won’t do it if you’re gonna be uncomfortable,” Druig reminded you. He always went at your pace when it came to kissing and heavy petting. He was angry at your ex for being too forceful on you. Druig swore he would never do that to you.
So you nodded your head silently.
“Words, my love. Use your words,” Druig lured to you, his hand slowly touching your collarbone now as his alluring eyes looked into yours
“Please,” you whispered.
Druig grinned, lowering himself to be nearly hovering over you to plant kisses all over your lips, cheeks and even under your eyes. You hummed, your hands finding his hips and holding on gently
“If at any time you don’t feel good, or you feel uncomfortable at all, tell me right away,” Druig said against your throat. You nodded, humming to show you heard.
Druig started with kissed on your neck and collarbones to ease you into it. He moved his hands along your arms and waist. He then moved down some more, making you feel so loose and languid in his embrace.
“You don’t need to do a thing, baby. Just feel me, feel this,” Druig murmured against your neck as his hands found your pants. With your permission, he then eased the buttons off and slid your pants down to leave you in your cotton underwear.
After a good several minutes of Druig kissing you and rubbing you down, his hand hovers over your underwear. He stopped, looking at you and seeing how flushed you were.
“Ready?” He asked. You gulped and nodded. He grinned, “Close your eyes now, baby. I got you, okay? I got you.”
You closed your eyes, a bit nervous as he kissed you.
Once his hand went under the fabric and reached your mound, your gasped hotly into his mouth.
His fingers were slowly moving along your folds, feeling the slick there already and the quiver in your skin. You shivered in his embrace, the coil in your stomach was forming already
Druig moved slowly, watching your face and hearing your gasps when he touched you in a certain spot. It was both red hot and smooth at the same time. This sensation was new to you, pleasure was starting to form in your core.
“You’re so gorgeous like this for me,” Druig cooed at you as he then grazed over your clit with his thumb, a moan escaped your lips as he grinned from the sound, “And to think I get to do this for you. I’m honored, baby. Feel my fingers, come on, feel them,”
Moans were coming out of your mouth smoothly and organically, how his fingers touched and glided against your cunt and more slick was forming against his fingers.
Your Ex never did this, he never gave you this red hot pleasure that was slowly rising and building. Your breath was shorter and your moans were rising higher
“How does it feel?” Druig said against your lips as he rubbed your clit in one swipe. You gasped and whined. Your hands were clutching his arms as some kind of anchor.
“So…so good,” You moaned, licking into his mouth and feeling his groan on your lip, “It’s getting higher, Druig. I…I can’t,”
“Oh, but you can,” Druig reminded you as he pulled away and stared down at you slowly. The coil in your stomach was tighter now and you were getting higher up on the peak, “Let go for me. Please, let go. I got you, okay?”
He started to move down, descending your body with kisses. It went from your neck to your collarbone. He kissed through the shirt you wore while he was still touching your pussy and was slithering down your body.
Finally, he was eye level with your cunt, his fingers still under your underwear as he paused and looked at you. Your mind was spiraling already from the intense pleasure you were feeling.
You locked eyes, seeing how close he was to Your cunt. He gulped, never loosing sight of your eyes.
“Can I?” He asked. You smiled with pleasure. So chivalry wasn’t dead. You nodded, seeing him roll your underwear down to throw onto the floor. You were left bare, glistening in the light with his large fingers still caressing your folds.
Once he licked up one large stripe against your cunt, you screamed.
Like before, he was gentle In his movements. It was baffling he was in between your legs and loving on you in a way you never thought you have. His hands held your thighs like they were made of glass. He worshipped your cunt, smooth licks and massaged folds with his fingers. There was no speed, none at all. It took you a moment to realize.
He was going to take his time taking you apart.
You were amazed at how intense this pleasure was soaring through you. You were moaning so loud you thought your neighbors were going to hear you.
Druig, perhaps hearing your thoughts, looked up and grinned from his spot between your legs, “The noises you make are heaven. Keep makin’ those noises for me,”
You felt that pleasure getting higher and higher, your head was floating as Druig was licking you in all the right spots for several long minutes. You were blissed out in pleasure and euphoria when you felt that tension about to snap.
“D-Druig!” You moaned, your fingers in his hair as he licked hard against your clit, “SHIT! I’m…oh God I’m gonna..”
You didn’t want to say it, thinking you were going to jinx yourself. But it was happening, that massive wave you’ve only dreamt about was getting there and about to topple over.
“Let go for me, baby,” Druig almost pleaded against your cunt, kneading your thighs in his hands as your moans were higher and higher, “I’ve got you. Let go for me, let go—“
The climax hit you so hard it shook you as you moaned to the heavens.
Druig held you down as you rode it out, wave after pleasuring wave of sensational heat was enough to make you feel high or drunk.
Love was exploding through you towards Druig.
You were so lost in your mind when the coil snapped, shaking like a leaf in a Druigs arms. It felt like ages in until you were languishing in the couch.
Once you started to shake with oversensitivity, Druig pulled away and groaned against your lower stomach. He wiped his lips with his hand, he too was shaking. You watched with glossy eyes as he blinked slowly at you, almost waiting to see what you were going to say.
“You okay?” He asked in a gasp, heaving in his breaths as you were watching him with massive inhales. You grabbed his neck to yank him up, Druig following blindly
“I love you!” You moaned in his mouth, feeling cradle your face in his hands as he kissed you back, “That was…I have no words...”
Druig only kissed you to show you he heard and knew. Even though you kissed there on the couch and cooled off, you felt so much love and a new high to chasr after as Druig took you to new heights.
“Just think,” Druig hummed against your lips, “We’re just getting started.”
You groaned as you raked your fingers in his hair, “Can’t wait,” you hummed to him
The End.

druig headcanons but its him with his eternal ex lover about their super secret love child because she never told him her it hahahaha
SECRET BABY THEY DONT KNOW ABOUT IS MY FAVORITE TROPE
the first few hundred years you were an eternal was the best, you and druig immediately clicked. he wasn’t the same with everyone else as he was with you which eventually started to annoy you because you all were family
you didn’t let it bother you because you loved him anyways. you guys grew closer and formed a relationship of sorts
eventually you started having sex and it was great, over the years you explored so many things, tried things you overheard humans talking about. even just made up things to try out
the day you found out about thena’s mhad w’yry (mad weary) (i spelled it how it’s spelled in the comics) you wanted to stay with her but something in druig clicked
when he left he gave you one last kiss, you cried. you thought the next time you saw him would probably be when you are home
a few months after that you found out you were pregnant. you didn’t even know you could get pregnant. ajax said it was a miracle, or maybe even a gift.
no one else knew but ajax. you quickly left after and moved to america to live the “american dream” lifestyle with your kid
the eternals showing up at your doorstep thousands of years later was not something you expected or wanted really.
the first person you laid eyes on was druig, everyone was standing at your doorstep. your kid came up behind you asking who they were
druig’s eyes shifted from the kid to you. for some others they realized it was his almost immediately, they kid looked just like him.
for druig it took a few more moments, he was wondering if you had found someone else in all that time but after a few more moments it finally clicked. they were his

X. Out of Everyone
Tumblr media
Pairing: Druig x Eternal!Eleni
Eleni is a female OC, feel free to replace her name with your own(:
Summary: The Eternals find out about Eleni and Ikaris, and Druig is not happy that out of everyone in the world, she chose him as a rebound.
Word Count: 1.5K
author’s note: please like or reply to this post to be added to my taglist druig masterlist
Eleni stood in the corner watching her family discuss the outcome of the Emergence and ways to stop it. She was happy they were all together again, but it did feel only a little bit weird that they were reunited after all these years, and under such weird circumstances at that.
Eleni and Druig found themselves on good terms, but a part of her still was holding a grudge for leaving her. She kept looking between Ikaris and Druig hoping that their relationship would not come up in conversation. The only ones that knew were Thena, Gilgamesh and Ajak and 2/3 of them was dead. She kept biting her nails as she sat on the table with her legs crossed.
“Eleni, did you hear me?” Sersi asked and Eleni shot her a look of confusion.
“I’m sorry.” She apologized.
“It’s fine. It doesn’t matter.” Sersi said.
Eleni went back to overthinking every possible thing that could go wrong while the team tried to sort out a plan. Druig would surely go straight for Ikaris’ neck if he found out about them and Ikaris would surely kill him straight away. She didn’t think this part through when she got excited about a family reunion. Of course she didn’t think a family reunion would be happening for a long time, but here they all were on the Domo. Minus two.
“El, what has gotten into you? This is serious, can you please pay attention?” Sersi said to her and she apologized once more.
“I’m sorry. There’s just a lot on my mind.” Eleni said. Of course the Emergence was a big problem, and forgive Eleni for being more concerned about her two ex boyfriends being in the same room.
Druig watched Eleni from across the room and knowing her better than anyone, he could tell she was hiding something. Druig refused to look inside her mind because after everything he did to her, the last thing he needed to do was upset her by invading her privacy. He wanted to approach her and ask what was on her mind, but like her, he needed to pay attention to everything Phastos and Sersi were saying.
“What could possibly be on your mind other than this right now?” Sersi snapped. Eleni knew she didn’t mean to and that she was just stressed so she let it slide.
“She’s freaking out because it’s only a matter of time before Druig finds out about her and Ikaris.” Sprite said and for once Eleni wanted to absolutely back hand the little shit.
“How do you know that?” Ikaris stepped forward.
“I was living with Ajak when she sent you. Did you really think I wouldn’t find out?” Sprite replied.
“What about you and Ikaris?” Druig asked.
“Yeah, what about you and Ikaris?” Sersi asked, turning away from Phastos.
Eleni’s heart started pounding out of her chest and she looked to Thena, the only other person who knew. Thena shook her head slowly and nodded her head towards Sprite.
“They dated for like a hundred years.” Sprite said.
“Sprite, that’s enough.” Eleni stood up off the table, fuming from just looking at her. She thought for a second what would happen if she just lunged for her right then and there.
“Eighty-three and that’s none of your business.” Ikaris said as he looked at Sersi.
“Eighty-three, huh?” Druig said finally allowing himself to look into her mind to see if what was being said was true. His heart dropped when he realized that the reason she was so anxious was because she didn’t want him finding out about her and Ikaris. He didn’t expect her to not date anyone after they split, but he definitely didn’t want it to be Ikaris and he also didn’t expect her to keep it from him.
“Woah, woah, woah? You and Ikaris?” Kingo said, shock present in his expression. “That’s gotta be the most unexpected thing I’ve ever heard of in my life.”
“I know right. I was surprised too how someone could be with their best friend’s ex.” Sprite added.
“Sprite, hush.” Sersi said, looking at Eleni. Eleni’s eyes softened seeing that Sersi was hurt she didn’t know about their relationship. “Why haven’t you said anything?”
“It wasn’t serious.” Ikaris finally said. “We were alone and living together and it just happened.” Druig hummed in response and then turned on his heel to leave the room.
“Go after him.” Sersi said to Eleni.
Eleni ran down the halls of the Domo looking for Druig until she realized that he was probably in their old room that they used to share. To her surprise, she was right. She knocked on the door and he turned in response.
“I’m sorry.” Eleni said.
“Him? Out of everyone on this planet, you just had to be with him?” Druig asked.
“I didn’t expect it to happen, Druig, I swear.” She replied. “I didn’t do it out of spite. I didn’t even love him.”
“Eighty-three years, it’s hard to believe that you didn’t love him, Eleni. Ajak always thought he was so perfect.” He scoffed. “You knew he was the one person I could never live up to. The one person I’d always be less than”
“That is not it.” She walked towards him but he backed away. “I promise that’s not it.”
“Then what is it, Eleni?” Druig retorted, raising his voice.
“He was there when you weren’t!” Eleni matched his volume, tears immediately spilling from her eyes when the words left her mouth. “He was there for me, we were there for each other. There’s nothing more to it.”
Druig put his hands in his jacket pockets as the room fell silent. He instantly felt horrible seeing her cry, especially knowing that him yelling at her was the reason why.
“Why were you so worried about me finding out?” He questioned.
“I thought for sure you’d try to hurt Ikaris.” She laughed lightly.
“Well, I would have.” He said smugly and it made her laugh lightly, “But given the circumstances, now is just not the time to start a family feud.”
She thought of what she could say to convince Druig that her’s and Ikaris’ relationship was absolutely nothing more than a ridiculous idea of a rebound. She enjoyed her time with him, because everyday was like a day with her best friend, but like she said before, no part of their relationship felt right or true.
“Nothing about it was special. It just... was.” She said, looking up at him. “Nothing about it was magical. Not like when I was with you.”
“Did he take care of you?” He asked.
“Of course.”
“I’m sorry I left you, El.” He said quietly. “I can’t even say I didn’t mean to hurt you, because I knew leaving would do just that.”
“You really fucked me up, Dru.” Eleni crossed her arms.
“I never wanted to do that.” Druig finally walked towards her, placing his hands on her cheeks.
“You’re telling me that you haven’t had a single fling or girlfriend after all this time in your little village?” Eleni asked. “Ikaris and I are not that big of a deal.”
“Tell that to Sersi.” Druig said. “She’s taking it pretty hard.”
Eleni rolled her eyes, “Please, she would have married that mortal had the Deviants not shown up.”
“I didn’t expect you to not have any relationships after me. In fact, I hoped you would. I prayed to Arishem that you would find someone to fix the wounds I left in your heart. I couldn’t though. Couldn’t bring myself to love anyone else. I was just guilty for what I put you through-”
“Stop.” Eleni tried to cut him off, tears threatening to spill from her eyes again.
“It’s you, Eleni. It’s always been you.”
Druig placed his hands on her hips, like he did the first night they kissed, and looked down at her asking for permission. She simply shook her head and took his hands off her hips but still held his hands in hers.
“Believe me, El. I told you in those letters I wrote to you all those years ago. I loved you when we first got here, I loved you then and I love you now.”
Eleni squeezed his hands and was moments away from finishing what he started. She wanted to kiss him so badly but a piece of her was still telling her no. When she was finally going to let herself, with the worst possible timing, Ikaris entered the room.
“Phastos thinks he figured something out.” Ikaris said. “He needs you, El-eni. Eleni.”
“Go.” Druig nodded his head and she pulled away from him. Ikaris gave her a nod as she exited and she took that as him promising they wouldn’t kill each other.
Eleni still stood by the door long enough to hear Druig thank him for taking care of her for the century that they were together. After hearing that, Eleni walked down the hallway towards the lab with a small smile on her face.

Hiii darling, how are you?
I had a promt idea and i wanted to share it with you.
What about thenamesh being broken up 😈.
Like i know thats basically imposible because they can not be apart from each other for a long time ( but relationships are hard you know).
So they haven't seen each other in a very long time, and they completely over one another, they even dated other people, but both are currently single.
They are completely over each other, Gilgamesh is NOT constantly thinking about Thena's beautiful sunshine hair, or how smarth she was or her gorgeous long legs he could stare at all day long of course not, and is not like Thena everyday thinks about how charming Gilgamesh was, or how he could make her feel better just saying something dumb or how she got distracted just by looking at those big and strong arms of his, not at all they are soo over each other and they don't even wanna meet again.
But when they do see each other again it goes like this:
- Thena and Gil walking directly to each other whitout realising.
They make eyecontact and fully stop
They stare at each other intensely
Gil : Thena hello ! - dumb smile
Thena : Hello - small blush
The tension in the air can be cut with a butter knife
"Mamma mia" by ABBA starst playing in the background
And thats about it 😊, sorry for any mistakes english is not my first language, and thank you for sharing your works with us they are so beautiful, i love them all, they make my days better 🩷🤍.
"Come on, Gil, don't get all emo on us now!"
But he'd had enough--more than enough. He had only agreed to a night out with the boys because he had dodged them ten times for every one, and tonight was the eleventh hour. Even with all that, it wasn't enough to keep him in the pub with pounding music and the stink of smoke.
Thena hated the smell of smoke.
His friends would tell him not to think that way. For all the times he had sworn to them that he was over her, here he was thinking of her again?
But of course he was! Thinking about Thena was as natural to him as breathing, and the breakup had done nothing to change that. It still felt almost surreal sometimes, as if the last year and a half of his life was still in the haze of post-breakup blues. All the months spent moping around his apartment, the weeks after of being set up with blank face after blank face. He had even maintained a relationship eventually, only to have called her 'Thena' one time (entirely by accident).
He had omitted that part of the story to his friends when they asked 'what happened to what's-her-name?'.
Gil had tried the dating thing, but it was becoming clearer and clearer that it wasn't working for him. If it wasn't Thena, it wasn't for him. And that didn't bode well, considering they had parted ways with the stark promise that there would be no getting back together.
No regrets, they had said. He was going to put the hours into the kitchen that he needed to as the new head chef of a long established restaurant. Thena was going to focus her razor sharp intellect into pursuing her PHD while working at the museum. He had once called her the 'rock star' of the historical world. She hadn't appreciated it at the time.
For their shared declaration of no regrets, there were plenty. He had lamented to his friends how he hadn't expressed enough interest in Thena's work. He didn't watch the historical programs she liked to watch in bed; he fell asleep to them. Although in his defense, Thena never could get through a boxing match without checking a work email or swearing she was paying attention while she read something on her phone.
Thena was on the other side of town, in Sersi's old flat after she and Dane had decided to finally move in together. She had always done best with her own space, after all. Yet another regret; their half-assed compromise - which made neither of them happy - on how to use the second bedroom. Gil wanted a home gym and Thena wanted a home office. It ended up housing his exercise equipment cramped in with all the books she couldn't fit onto the living room shelves.
It was the truest compromise, in the sense that they were both left frustrated and unsatisfied by the results.
Really, it was them making old fights into new ones. He knew she liked having her own space. Anyone would, after growing up with an annoying twin brother like Ikaris their whole life, he could admit. But he hadn't really appreciated her bringing up that he was an only child as a reason for him not sympathising with her more.
It was little things, really. Little things that had just...piled up on them. Him kicking his shoes off hastily, forgetting that Thena had grown up in a preparatory school and liked everything arranged neatly. Her leaving her teabags piled up in the garbage instead of in the organic waste container he kept in the fridge, specifically because the kitchen was his domain and he didn't like unwanted smells hovering around.
Little things piling up; it was for the best, they had agreed.
And now, a year and a half later, here he was, outside a pub, in the snow. He checked his phone; the night was young, but his friends were enough pints in that maybe they wouldn't notice if he decided to just...leave. If they asked, he could say it was way later, they just weren't remembering it right.
He walked slowly, still staring at his phone. It was the blank, default phone background. He hadn't settled on a new one after needing to take down the picture of him and Thena on their trip to Australia. It wasn't any more pathetic than the rest of his life.
"Sorry," a soft voice uttered, scuffling feet in snow filling the air as they narrowly avoided one another.
Her eyes rose to meet his, still a sparkling green that contrasted the hair that was the colour of pure sunshine. She was dressed in all white, as she always was. He had always said it was her colour. "Hey."
The one word was like the cavalry call. Memories flowed through him. Some of the bad times. But the happy ones far, far outweighed them. There were so many happy ones it was a wonder they had ever decided they weren't worth the bad.
Thena was still the most beautiful woman Gil had ever seen. Her edges were so sharp, and yet she still possessed a softness--a fragility to her delicate frame. It was hard to tell under her long white coat if she looked different, but he remembered those long legs entwined with his in the hammock on their balcony. Her lips were still full and succulent like a berry.
"Hey." He smiled, and she smiled as well. There was a lightness to it that hadn't been there when she had left her key with him and closed the door behind her. "How are you?"
"Good," she answered plainly, as she always had. Her eyes darted down to the ground and she tucked some hair behind her ear, still a clear tell of when she was nervous. His heart skipped a beat as he caught a blush in her cheeks. "And you?"
"Yeah," he answered, not that it was much of an answer. He had yet to stop smiling, but she was still smiling too. "Restaurant's doing well--same old."
Thena nodded, some of her hair tumbling from her scarf wound loosely around her. "I read a review of it. Your praises were sung most eloquently."
She had such a poetry to her language. Some found it odd, but Gil had always admired her more elegant word choice in comparison to his easy and casual phrases. He had tried writing poetry, but he was no match for her simply describing how her day was.
"Yeah?" he grinned. The idea of her checking a review of his work was more than he could have hoped for. It felt like hearing that she had asked if he was seeing anyone.
"I'm not surprised," she stated more than confessed. "You have always been an excellent chef. I wouldn't have needed some culinary reporter to tell me that."
Emboldened by her olive branch, Gil stepped closer. "And how's the doctorate?"
Her pleased smile returned, her scarf even picking up in the wind and brushing the front of his army green jacket. She used to always put her hand on his chest for no good reason, whenever she wanted. "I'll be submitting by the end of this year. Nothing is signed yet, but I'm told things look promising."
His grin stretched wider. The word 'rock star' was on his tongue again but he inhaled, drawing up his shouldering instead of wrapping his arms around her and picking her up off the ground. "Hey, that's great! I mean, I knew you'd get it. You're way too good not to."
Thena's eyes drifted downward again. Her smile turned shaky and her hands went to the buttons of her coat. She swayed on the spot, as if unsure of which direction to lean. "Thanks, Gil."
The snow filled in the silence between them, Mamma Mia positively blaring from inside the pub. The flashing, coloured lights inside proved stronger than the tint of the windows, reflecting on the snow already fallen.
Thena broke the silence first. "I'm surprised you're out this late."
Once, that might have been a barb about how he always had to sleep early to get into the restaurant early (especially on nights when she had a work social at the museum). But that was years ago, and now it was a casual - if nervous - question asked in a playful tone.
Gil smiled. "Well, usually I wouldn't. But the guys have really started giving me a hard time about-"
He clamped his mouth shut, suddenly terrified of uttering the truth of his dismal life since her exit. Surely it was pathetic of him to tell his ex-girlfriend about how all he did was lie around watching the same five shows and living almost completely off of leftovers from work.
But Thena laughed. It was gentle, and light, and he still found it really cute. "So, you came out tonight just to appease them?"
Her laughter drew out his as well. His shoulders lowered and his hands shuffled around in his pockets. "Guess so."
Thena looked towards the dark glass of the windows. It took her a few minutes to build up to what she had to say. But rather than eagerly rush her, he waited, happy to admire her. "I have become even less social than before, if you can believe it."
"Wow," he commented outright, earning the mildest form of her glare possible. He chuckled, though. "I can't believe it."
She could have left it there if she wanted. But she kept holding her scarf at the ends, braving on. "It seems I've been a bit reclusive since..."
It was Thena to bridge the unspoken gap, utter those completely forbidden words. But in that way, it was also her extending her hand, asking him to take it.
Gil turned soft, as he always did with her. His voice lowered to nearly a whisper, like it would after she'd had a night terror and needed comforting. "I guess I have too."
She had closed the distance as much as she could. She needed more from him, going quiet again and staring into his chest.
Gil eagerly met her halfway, pulling his hands from his pockets and crushing her against him. It was just a hug, something friends could do (if she decided she would regret this, too). "I missed you."
But she slid her arms around him. She buried her nose in his jacket and he leaned over her, practically engulfing her in his arms. She inhaled, drinking in the scent of him.
"Sorry, I probably smell like fryer oil," he excused. She had always hated that smell.
She shook her head, still buried in him. "I missed it."
How was he not supposed to fall in love with her all over again?
"Hey," he said gently, only encouraging her to pull away enough to look at him. He brushed some hair from the crown of her head. "Would you wanna grab something? We could get a decaf...something--you still don't drink, right?"
Thena beamed as if he had asked her something so much more than just terrible coffee. But small things - like remembering that she didn't really enjoy drinking - always meant the most to her. "I'd love to."
Just hearing the word from her lips made his heart leap in joy. It remembered hearing that word so often from her. It wanted to hear it again.
"So, uh," Gil began, leading her away from the pub with her hand in his. Maybe it was too much to hold hands with someone he had just asked out, but Thena's hand held onto his just as firmly. "That 24 hour place is still open. I heard they have daily specials now."
"Sounds lovely." She hadn't become a conversationalist. But she held onto his hand, letting him go on about the pastries in the window and how it was under new ownership. He didn't mention how he couldn't even look at the place for the first two months after their breakup.
Gil looked at her but didn't stop walking as she leaned against him. "You okay? We don't have to go out, if you're tired. You can just come over and I can make you some tea."
She buried her face in his sleeve. "You think I'm the type to go home with you on the first night we've met?"
He paused for a second before letting out a laugh that would wake anyone out of a dead sleep. "Are you flirting with me?"
"You seem much more the flirtatious type."
Thena was happy to play coy about it, but he knew she was flirting because she was terrible at it when they'd first started dating. "Maybe I am."
"You could take a girl to dinner, first." It was light, witty banter, her favourite kind. She was relaxing more and more.
"How's tomorrow?"
He waited for her response, only able to look at the top of her head with her leaning on him. But it made him think of the beach in Australia when he had first told her he loved her. He had thought it plenty of times before, but that was the first time he had spoken the words. Maybe he would get the chance to say them again.
Thena adjusted their arms, linking them at the elbows, still revealing nothing of her expression as she said, "it's a date."

birthday on the dance floor !
pairing: druig x f!mortal!reader
summary: the eternals insisted on taking you partying to celebrate your birthday, however things take a turn when druig notices somebody flirting with you on the dance floor.
warnings: none, just lots of fluff, jealous druig & a bit of dance grinding (and implications of sex).
Tumblr media
Music thudded against the walls of the bar which was littered with Eternals, all conversing amongst the humans like mundane people. Clinking drinks, throwing back shots and dancing to every song that blasted out of the crackly speakers by the DJ platform.
Thena, Gilgamesh and Phastos were seated at a table by the window, sipping cocktails together in deep conversation. Kingo had Karun following him around like a lost puppy with a film camera cradled to his chest on record.
Sersi, Sprite and Makkari were already on the dance floor, blending into the crowd of sweaty, swaying bodies, all grooving the rhythm of the music while Druig and Ikaris were stood by the bar, silently sipping their beers with observant eyes.
You emerged from the bathroom after doing your business and double checking your makeup, approaching the two men with a sweet smile.
You felt Druig’s arm sneak around your waist, “you alright, m’love?”
“Yeah, I’m good.” You replied, watching him eat from the half devoured packet of ready salted crisps he’d ordered alongside his beverage.
It amazed you how often that boy could eat. But most of all you found it endearing, and his handsome charm never faltered.
Smirking, you abruptly stole the bag from the bar, holding it between your own hands and feeding one to yourself. Druig flashed you a faux expression of offence, moving his arm up to hang around your shoulders where he had easier access to the snacks.
“I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone.” Ikaris flashed the couple a subtle wink, removing himself from their bubble to sit down alongside the other Eternals.
“Are you having a nice birthday?” Druig gazed down at you, fondly.
Yeah, so the Eternals hadn’t decided to come out dancing on a whim after a day defeating Deviants or anything. No, it was actually your birthday. You weren’t like them, you weren’t immortal, so every day of your life had to count.
You met Druig through your best friend, Sersi, back when the Deviants made a comeback, and you refused to stay out of the way while she and her ex (at the time) Ikaris, along with Sprite had planned to travel around the world in order to reunite their clan of superheroes and save the world.
Like Karun, you had tagged along on their dangerous and incredibly reckless journey, and it was by far the best decision you’d ever made. Sure, Kingo and the valet backed out right before the Emergence, but you planted yourself on that Domo and wouldn’t take no for an answer — even if it was for the sake of your own safety.
Looking back, Druig respected your bravery, even your stubbornness. The more time he’d spent with you, the fonder he became, and even he couldn’t face potentially losing you to Tiamut.
Minus some bruising here and there from your complete lack of combat experience, you were alive, and now after all this time, you were a part of their family.
So naturally, of course they had all insisted on a group night out to celebrate your birthday. It was nice to see them all back together after saving the planet and leaving once again to follow their own paths, though they made a strong point of keeping more in contact with one another.
Druig even decided to stay in London with you, instead of retreating back to the Amazon forest where he had been secluded for so many centuries. Now more than ever your relationship was at its peak.
“The best birthday.” You said in response to his question, head leant comfortably in the crook of his neck.
Setting the empty crisp packet back down on top of the bar, you rotated your body around slightly so instead of clinging to his side, you were face to face with your arms looped around his torso beneath the leather of his jacket.
He planted a soft kiss to your forehead, staring back into your large, doe eyes. You found yourself constantly getting lost in the glacier of his own.
“My beautiful Y/N.” His voice drawled affectionately, pulling you even closer if that was remotely possible. His nose brushed up against yours.
Your cheeks became inflamed. He never grew tired of seeing you become flustered after receiving a compliment from him. It’s like you were back in the crush stage of the relationship, where you would share longing stares from across the room and shy exchanges of inaudible sweet nothings.
Just as you brought your lips up to meet his, several pairs of arms tackled you from behind, tearing you away from the love of your life to spin you around.
“Time to dance.” Makkari signed, a film of sweat already glossing over her forehead from her own shenanigans.
Sersi nodded eagerly to her right, “c’mon birthday girl.”
You allowed yourself to be dragged away, throwing a pout over your shoulder at your boyfriend, who only shook his head and waved goodbye to you with a smirk.
The three of you weaved your way through intoxicated clubbers, finding a space on the dance floor that wasn’t too overly crowded.
“Where’s Sprite?” Your eyes searched around, questionably.
“She wandered off to play on the slot machines.” answered Sersi, already back to the dancing.
You raised your eyebrows in amusement, “isn’t she a bit young for gambling?”
“Kids.” Makkari signed, playfully rolling her eyes. All three of you giggled before embracing the song, when you found yourself getting twirled under their arms every so often.
As much as you were enjoying yourself, you did wish Druig had joined you on the dance floor. Granted, he wasn’t much of a social person, never mind a dancer, but seeing other couples dancing together did make you feel slightly envious.
Perhaps you just craved being in his presence 24/7. You couldn’t get enough of him. Of his smile, of his wit, of the way he always had to be linked to you somehow — whether it be holding hands, or embracing you from behind.
Somebody tapped your shoulder from behind. You span around to see a man who you hadn’t seen before. “Happy birthday!” He announced over the music, acknowledging the pink velvet tiara on your head reading happy birthday! with gold embellishments and little light up circles on top.
“Oh, thanks!” You returned a polite smile, still swaying left and right to the song.
Colourful lights reflected against the man’s ravenous irises, looking like he had so many things he wanted to say to you.
“Can I buy you a birthday drink?” He suggested, discretely scooting closer towards you to create the illusion that it was necessary in order for you to hear him over the speakers.
You weren’t sure what to say. You’d never been approached by somebody in a bar before. It was always something that happened to your friends, or in movies. But now it was finally happening, you weren’t available.
Not that you had any complaints.
“I’m good, thanks.” You replied.
Meanwhile from across the bar, Druig was squinting at you through the crowd of intoxicated mortals, no longer seeing you with Sersi and Makkari, but with an anonymous male.
He watched the way he leaned into your ear to talk to you, while you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear awkwardly. He knew you like the back of his hand now, and he could tell that you felt inclined to stay sincere to the stranger.
“Somebody’s getting jealous.” Kingo appeared out of nowhere, and Druig hadn’t even realised how hard he was squeezing the glass in his hand.
“Shut up, Kingo.”
“Go and dance with her!” Great, now Karun had inserted himself into the exchange.
Druig frowned grumpily, “no way.”
“Fine. Let her dance with that handsome stranger.” Kingo leant nonchalantly against the bar, muttering his drink order to the barman on the other side, who got to work right away.
“You are… what do the kids say nowadays… whipped, son.” Karun grinned from ear to ear like a cheeky little Cheshire Cat.
Druig rolled his eyes, gulping down the rest of his beer to avoid responding. His eyes remained on you, and it took every fibre of his being to refrain from commanding the man to piss off.
“Here,” Kingo handed the jealous mind-controller a shot glass. “Drink up!”
Without blinking, he threw it back, not wincing once at the burn of tequila slithering down his throat.
As you gazed around helplessly, your eyes met his, and that was all it took for him to stop being stubborn and he made his way towards you. Thunderous steps, shoulder bashing anybody who got in his way. He didn’t care about anything else in the world but getting to you.
As the scent of spiced leather entered your senses, you felt as if you could breathe again. Druig’s hand landed on the small of your back. He glared at the intrusive stranger.
“Sorry pal, she’s with me.”
“I’m sure the lady can speak for herself.” He remarked through folded arms.
“Can’t you take a hint? She ain’t interested.” Druig snapped, feeling your small hand on his chest.
“It’s okay, Dru.” You said calmly, and then turned back to the other man, “I’m really sorry, but I’m happily taken.”
“Whatever,” he huffs in return like a sore loser. “You weren’t worth it, anyway.”
Suddenly, his irises were glowing gold, and he raised his drink in the air, right above his head, before numbly dumping it all over himself.
Your jaw dropped and Druig smirked innocently like butter wouldn’t melt, despite his own shimmery eyes which quickly faded to blue.
“W—What the…?” The man shuffled uncomfortably, dripping from head to toe in booze. Sparing a mortified reaction to the couple, he rushed away, at last.
“I can’t believe you did that!” You giggled, twisting around to face Druig.
“You’re worth it, m’love.” He shrugs, taking your hand and twirling you under his arm before lifting his fingers up to straighten your tiara.
“Mhm, I love you.” Perching yourself up on your tiptoes, you press your lips against his, holding onto his open jacket.
“I love you so much more.”
He felt you exhale a hum of disagreement, which only urged him to deepen the kiss. Truly you would never know just how much he was in love with you. He wishes he could spend an eternity by your side, watching you grow and bloom as a person and in beauty.
Loving you forever.
But you didn’t have forever. So you both knew you had to embrace the now, and make the most of the time you had together.
“Now that you’re here…” a mischievous grin overtook your features as a new tune starts to play.
Druig struggled severely to take his eyes off the way your hips swayed to the beat, and the gleam of lust dancing around your eyes. You knew if he really didn’t want to stay on the dance floor with you he would’ve immediately took off.
But the truth was he didn’t want to. He wanted to be right here with you, in the moment. He despised dancing, but he’d end the world if it meant you were happy.
Biting his lip, he pried you closer, releasing your hand so you could turn around with your back to him. Calloused hands settled on your waist to guide your bottom up against his clothed crotch.
“Is this what you wanted? You naughty minx.” Druig’s lips fanned the shell of your ear, awaking a parade of goosebumps up the length of your neck.
“Oh I don’t know. I think you’re quite enjoying it.” You increased the pressure of your backside against his groin, every inch of him tightening and firming up inside his jeans.
“Continue like that and we might need to take a trip to the bathroom.”
Gasping, you lolled your head back onto his shoulder, laughing while he peppered open mouthed kisses around your jaw.
A nervous sense of excitement prickled at your insides as one of his hands trailed down further to ball up some of the rim of your dress.
“Druig—” your breath hitched in the back of your throat. He barely had to touch you to get you all worked up.
“It’s okay, darling,” he smoothed out the material and lovingly locked his arms around your waist. “Later.”

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐘𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐃𝐑𝐔𝐈𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐈 - 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬
Tumblr media
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒; i genuinely believe this is what will put me at my lowest point. i am psychotic. slightly embarrassed to post this. i literally spent a day doing nothing more than studying the dynamic of a fictional couple with four scenes together. is this who i am?? is this what i was made for?? anyways, love talking to people about this movie and pretending that i like it a normal and socially acceptable amount. i really felt like these characters were glossed over, and fair, i know the writers probably didn't expect them to be so popular, but now we're left with the damage of 2,500 years of blank space, so let me map out my interpretation of their relationship for you! i hope this series is renewed so i can make a second part of this post in 3+ years (●'◡'●) if i don't go crazy first.
✧・゚: if you have any of your own thoughts, or simply want to add commentary, you’re more than welcome to add them in the replies! this will be updated if we get any new additional information/my understanding changes <3
✧・゚: major spoilers for the eternals movie ahead!!
Tumblr media
𝟏.𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍
-> in babylon, 500BC, is when we're first introduced to the cast. they're all seen doing different things in this build-up, but one thing i noticed is how druig and makkari were almost always together in these scenes. after reading the comic “eternals: 500 year war” (which is available for free on webtoon!) the assumption of them being something close to partners could be made. there’s kind of an extra layer of flirtation there, seen from the way they interact he addresses her as “the beautiful makkari” — though, at this point, i personally would chalk it up to that mostly being their dynamic at that point
-> i’d like to say that they loved each other then but 🧍🏼‍♀️ it was probably more of a friendship kind of love, and more likely just crushes that they had been sitting on for thousands of years. ofc, we don’t know anything about their past tho!!! they only had four scenes together!! >:’)
-> aside from that, taking into account this period of time, it seems as though makkari is really the one he sticks to. and when remembering their partner-like relationship, this makes sense.(ex: when introduced, when thena first lost control, when druig was arguing with the others about what to do with the village, essentially every scene in the flashback)
-> honestly, this point is arguable, but i think it's important that the first time he controlled people in the show because of a conflict, it was when people were fighting in front of him and makkari. not only does he listen to her when she touches him to stop, but he thinks nothing of it and jokes back at her. despite the difference in scale to the other main conflict in mind controlling people, druig still has a deep-rooted trauma associated with letting humans fight in front of him no matter what. had someone else been in her shoes, i guarantee he would've been a lot less yielding and would have likely gone further.
-> and forgetting the fact that druig is honestly, generally unpleasant to be around, he seems so considerate with her! he notably stops to listen to what she has to say, and vice versa.
-> something i really wish they would've done, though, is highlight what happened after ajak "set them free". there had to have been a goodbye of sorts. i genuinely can't see makkari as someone who would leave the situation as it, esp knowing that it left someone she cares about really hurt.
-> i personally think that leaves a good chunk of space for her to speed after him, maybe say their goodbyes? hell, maybe she even spent some time with him for a bit in her travels around the world. that might be just me though LMAO. either way, i think this 2,500 year period definitely has some secrets hidden in it 👀
Tumblr media
𝟐. 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐘
-> ok!! i haven't seen someone say this yet and i need confirmation. maybe this is reaching, but was he nervous to talk to her again? was he wandering around looking to pick up something else just so he could have an excuse to talk to her? it was really cute how that item ended up being the same emerald tablet druig knew she was searching for before, though D: i was surprised that he saw it and immediately made the connection.
-> the transition from "the beautiful makkari" to "my beautiful makkari" is really important here ;-; but, hear me out, i don't think it's entirely romantic either. referencing back to the hypothetical (and tbh realistic possibility) of a goodbye, it would also make sense in that context that she's "his beautiful makkari" as in, his only makkari, that he made a promise to return to so long ago and has finally honoured. i that makes any sense at all. ofc, it also is flirty as hell and that should be acknowledged.
-> also, i know that she can't hear the way he whispers, "did you miss me?" but it's the way he whispered it that gets me. it was so full of feeling and wonder, and he was looking straight into her eyes. you can't tell me he wasn't starstruck. please.
-> i mean, we're pretty much all in agreement that there’s some loving feelings there are this point, right? but when and why did this happen? personally, i think the separation was enough to strengthen the feelings that were already there. it makes sense, too, judging by the way he just went for it like that. druig is probably attempting to make up for some sort of lost time, or maybe even trying to pick up where they left off -- because seeing her has obviously ignited some sort of past feelings.
-> do i think it could've been done better? yeah. a little clarification might've sufficed, but whatever, because it still shows that the two characters care about each other. the flirty comments just go largely unexplained, so we’re left to assume.
-> but, we can't forget that druig is just generally a serious guy. even if he's thrilled to see makkari again, he's still not completely in good graces with everyone, and also wants to hurry up with the plan -- hence a lack of scenes from then on.
Tumblr media
𝟑. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐇
-> *keysmash* *rips out hair* *shakes fist at sky* *falls to ground in fetal position* this was so beautifully done. og my gof. when she goes vocal for the first time just to scream when ikarus throws druig into the ground? chef's kiss. they've just reunited after thousands of years, and suddenly she's led to believe that he was taken away from her. if you think about it, it's even more sad, considering the fact that they may be the only one the other person truly had. they were both in isolated roles after being "set free", with druig leading a mind controlled village for centuries, and makkari staying on the ship for that same amount of time. when they came back to, nothing had really changed between them, while the others had developed complicated relationships with the outside world.
-> i think the cinematographers did a really good job with the lighting in this scene. the sunset hitting his back as he showed up out of nowhere, suddenly alive and walking right towards makkari? really nice. and, there’s no hesitation here either. this man that is unpleasant and pretty much eternally pissed off, literally grins as he walks up to her and sways her in his arms. wtf. i'm know i'm weak for the "i hate everyone but her trope", but oh my god?????/ and it's a tight hug too. like, i used this edit as a reference when writing this section, and you can see it!! it’s so heartfelt i am literally decomposing just looking at it.
-> and, obviously, the forehead touch. the whisper of "it's okay, i'm okay." that's so blatantly loving i don't even have to explain it. this whole section is just me gushing. the way they're staring at each other while doing this is also so adorable and telling.
-> and honestly, i thought about this last point for a while. yall are gonna laugh at me because i genuinely agonised over this LMAO ...i don't think this means they're a couple yet. i think mostly, the emotions in this scene come from almost losing someone who has could be more to you. they obviously have feelings for one another, but have never acted on more than flirting.
-> the hug symbolises a change in their relationship, maybe the new willingness to break down boundaries to get there? i think this is done purposefully, because obviously they expect to be making a second movie, and from there it will show how they develop into an actual couple. this is only the beginning of their journey and their story.
-> if you need me i'll be waiting impatiently for them to kiss LMAO
tldr; they’re partner-like friends who have always loved each other in one way or another, open in a flirty way. then reuniting after 2,500 years is essentially a new beginning, and druig’s near-death experience is likely what they need to realise that the kind of love they feel for each other may not be entirely as they expected.

Daisy: We need to stop talking about her ex-boyfriend being a furry and start talking about him being Italian!
Jemma: Bam! Roasted and toasted like a toasty piece of toast!
Sersie: L’cha dodi was written as a love song to God, so there’s that sort of sexual tension

Makkari: What’s your love language? [ASL], primarily
Sprite: I got carded at FedEx.

Carol: I am radiant presence, assholes
Pepper: So I woke up sick, had 2 ibuprofen, then three cups of coffee, then I cleaned the entire kitchen, then I cleaned the upstairs bathroom, then I packed for the trip, then I had two more cups of coffee, then I chugged a sixth of a gallon of water. Don’t worry, I had the two more cups of coffee after the eye twitch stopped.

Coach (1)
Fandom: Dylan O'Brien
Pairing: AU Dylan x Fem!Reader
Mini series summary: Being a newly single mom of two kids wasn't exactly easy. And love wasn't exactly part of your agenda. So, should you avoid lusting over your son's baseball coach? Absolutely. But with a man like Dylan, could you really resist? Probably not.
Warnings: nothing major yet, small sexual innuendo, mentions of cheating and divorce
WC: 1.9k
A/N: a yes, to those who have been following me for a while may recognize this title, it's my old Dylan AU fic. Yes I decided to continue it. Updates will come periodically, because I write spontaneously and I cant guarantee quick updates. But I do promise I wont wait a whole year to update. And since I did some slight updates in the first 2 parts I decided to archive the old ones and repost them again. So yeah, if you've read them before great, give it another read, my writing is much better now I promise and if you're new welcome, I hope you like this mini series.
(You are here, part 2, part 3)
Tumblr media
Dylan stood by the side of the large field, near the home plate, occasionally yelling out suggestions and pointing out mistakes to the young boys.
"Ezra! You have to watch the ball! C'mon! I know you can do better!" He called out to the blonde boy standing on the home plate with a bat in hand. Dylan then turned his attention to the dark haired boy with the baseball mitt and ball in hand.
"Roman! What's going on, buddy? You gotta focus, alright? You gotta work on that throw!" Dylan called out to the young boy, who half nodded and sighed heavily in response.
Not long after, Dylan signaled the young boys scattered throughout the large field to gather around. He spoke some encouraging words to the boys before allowing them to disperse and gather their equipment which meant practice was over.
Your son, however, stayed behind for a minute. There was an inaudible conversation happening between Dylan and your ten year-old, Roman. You watched from the bleachers as your son made some tired gestures at his coach followed by a small pat on the back from Dylan. You couldn't help but follow them with your eyes as they made their way to the bleachers, your eyes lingering a bit too long on the brown haired coach. An action that wasn't taken lightly by the female sitting beside you.
"You're staring at him again." Your best friend, Ezra's mother, Eliza -or just Liz, commented.
"I'm not." You muttered out quickly, tearing your eyes away from the handsome coach, your mouth hanging open for a couple of seconds. "I wasn't staring." You stated matter of factly and shrugged as you looked down at the small six year-old sitting on your lap, making sure she wasn't paying attention to the conversation.
"Really? The drool coming from your mouth says otherwise." Liz playfully ran her finger across your chin, pretending to wipe away at it. You slightly glared at her, an eye roll going her way.
"I'm not drooling. I wasn't even staring." You tried to defend yourself, making a small sassy gesture to her.
"Hey, I don't blame you. If I wasn't married," she took a pause as she eyed Dylan as he removed his baseball hat to run a hand through his messy chocolate locks, you couldn't help but stare as well. "I'd jump on his bones any day."
"Hey, there's young ears present." You said quietly to Liz as not to disturb the young girl in your arms.
Despite your attempt not to, you couldn't help but allow your eyes to fall once again on the field, following the handsome male that was the topic of your conversation. You had to hide the infatuated sigh that left your lips at the sight of your son's coach running around the field, talking to the kids and picking up equipment.
"Well he is handsome, I'll give him that.." You admitted quietly, "and he's really good with the kids."
Your friend smirked slightly at your words and wiggled her eyebrows at you.
"I bet that's not the only thing he's really good at." She eyed you suggestively and slightly nudged at you with her shoulder, "You should find out what other things he's good at."
Your mouth instantly fell open and your eyes widened at the insinuation.
"Eliza! Oh, my god. Don't say that." You slightly shook your head to brush off the embarrassment and hid your face on your hands to cover the crimson on your skin.
"Mommy you're warm!" Athena, your six year-old giggled as she grabbed your warm, sweaty hands. Even your daughter noticed the nervousness that crept up on you when it came to Dylan, even if it was just the topic of him. Truth was, you had been shamelessly crushing on your son's baseball coach ever since he joined the team a couple of months ago.
Get it together, you should not be crushing on your son's baseball coach.
"I know baby, it's just hot out here." You tried to brush it off, but the knowing smirk on Liz's face wasn't exactly helping. "Thena, why don't you go get Roman and Ezra? They're over there." You pointed to the field where Roman and Ezra were talking —or more like just Ezra was, to the other kids on the team. She quickly nodded and bolted off the bleachers, somehow not tripping over the steps as she went down. You sighed heavily the moment the young girl was far enough and slightly turned your head in Liz's direction.
"You should totally ask him out." She said out of nowhere with a shrug and a smirk on her face. Your eyes widened for the hundredth time, and you instantly shook your head frantically, the idea alone giving you a headache.
"Ask Dylan out? No way. I.. No.. That's just.. No." Your cheeks slightly heat up at the preposition. But you quickly turned it down with a vigorous shake of your head, not even giving the idea a minute to sink into your brain. "No, he's Roman's coach. It's just wrong."
"Why? I mean, you're single, and as far as I know, he's very single. Soo," she dragged the 'o' as she wiggled her eyebrows and she nudged your shoulder, pushing you over a little in a high school girl manner, "Why not get ready to mingle with the hot coach?"
"First of all, I'm technically not single, not yet." You groaned with an eyeroll. As much as you and your husband —or ex-husband or whatever were no longer living together, the divorce process had been unnecessarily long and dreadful. So as much as you wanted to be legally single, you were still married to that piece of shit.
"And second of all, if I were to date someone, which is a big if, I can't date Roman's coach out of all people. He already has enough as it is. It'll just confuse him and probably upset him more." You sighed heavily as you looked over to the side of the field, where all the boys were having a conversation about elementary boys' things. And there you saw your son, trying, and ultimately failing at joining said conversations. And with little Athena tugging at his side, all he got from the other kids was laughing and rejection.
Seeing your son's sad and hurt expression when the other boys laughed at him or even told him to go away broke your heart. You wanted him to be happy again. You wanted him to be the energetic and loving kid he was before your waste of a husband left. Ever since Ryan —your waste of a husband left, Roman hasn't been the same.
For the past six or so months, he has been distant and seemingly unhappy. All he ever did was lock himself up in his room and play video games. He barely ever interacted with you and Athena anymore. He barely interacted with anyone, period. Once Ryan left, it was up to you to support your kids financially. Of course, their father still paid child support, but he sure as hell didn't pay your bills or everything you needed to spend on your children. Which meant you had to take him out of the fancy school he went to in order to still pay the monthly expenses of your home. And he just didn't quite fit in at school, especially now.
So, you hoped that him joining the baseball team would change that, that it would help him open up again and that it would help him make new friends. But so far, it's worked just the opposite.
"So, I'm making dinner tonight. Do you want to come over with the kids and get drunk? Luke will watch over the kids." Liz spoke, interrupting your train of thought.
"That sounds a-mazing," you spoke in a song-like tune, a sigh of contentment leaving your lips. "But I can't. I told Roman I'd take him to that Italian place he likes."
"Tomorrow then. I'll have that Chardonnay you love so much waiting for you." She winked at you as you both stood up, ready to greet your children.
"Thank God for your alcohol stash." You joked, flinging your arms up in praise.
You both laughed and smiled in your children's direction, but your smile dropped as your kids and Ezra approached you. Ezra was holding Athena's hand, while Roman walked behind them, with a certain heaviness on his step and an annoyed look on his face. And Athena had a small pout on her face.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"Rome doesn't want to hold my hand!" Athena whined with a pout of her lower lip. She released Ezra's hand and exchanged it for your own. Ezra going to his own mom. While Roman simply stood there, with a hand stuffed into his pockets and the other messing with the strap of his bag, his gaze stuck on the ground.
"Roman, baby," you sighed softly, not wanting to give the poor kid a hard time. You understood he didn't exactly fit in, no matter how much he wanted to, and that upset him. You didn't want to add up to that. "Your sister just wanted you to hold her hand."
"She was embarrassing me.. I'm already the kid without a dad, I don't need to be the kid with an annoying  baby sister." He muttered, his gaze not once leaving the ground.
His words were harsh, but lacked emotion. And it broke your heart. But as much as you wanted to tell him that it wasn't true, that he did have a dad, you'd be lying if you did. Ryan was already absent in your children's lives before the split, but at the same time he was there, and Roman felt as if he was. But now, his father really wasn't there, at all. And there was nothing you could do about it.
You sighed softly, gesturing your free hand out for him, "Roman, come here," a heavy sigh left the young boy's lips as he took a few steps closer, standing in front of you with his head hanging low and his eyes stuck to the ground. You used your hand to hold the side of his face, his eyes meeting with your own. "Baby, Thena just wanted to show you that she loves you. She didn't mean to embarrass you, right Thena?" You turned your attention to the small girl that hid behind your arm, her eyes glistening with tears.
The small girl sniffled and shook her head, "No.. I'm sorry Rome.. I won't do it ever again, I-I promise."
You exchanged looks between your children, your eyes finally landing on Roman as you waited for a response. You raised an eyebrow at him, your eyes speaking a silent 'and' to the boy. He eventually signed, almost too heavily, and nodded.
"It's okay, I guess.. I don't really mind all that much." He half smiled, shrugging slightly.
Athena's expression quickly lightened, the small girl detached herself from your hand and hugged her older brother. And as much as he hated to admit it, he didn't mind the affection. He returned the hug and smiled, for a moment at least.
After a second or two, Roman slightly pushed Athena off him, signaling that that had been enough affection for a day. You breathed out softly, turning to look at Liz, who gave you a sympathetic smile in response.
"Well my loves, off we go. Say goodbye to Auntie Liz and Ezra." Both your children did as you said. Athena hugging both of them, and Roman simply waving at them. Good enough.
And at last, you gave Liz a quick but tight hug, "I'll call you tomorrow." You said shortly before you grabbed a hold of your daughter's hand and your son's bag, and eventually parted ways.
Today was gonna be a long day.
《Here's an edited version of part 1. As always I hope y'all enjoyed it. I'm trying to get back into writing after a long year, hopefully this will help me get back on track. Let me know your thoughts. And let me know if you'd like to be added to my dylan/coach taglist which I do have》
