Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo Yoga 3 14” Windows 8.1 convertible Ultrabook with the 360 degree Yoga hinge and Intel Broadwell 5th generation Core i5 and i7 CPUs. The Yoga 3 14” has a full HD IPS touch screen that works in laptop, tablet, tent and presentation modes. It’s actually a bit more powerful than the Yoga 3 Pro, but it’s thicker at 0.7” and heavier at 3.5 lbs. The laptop is available with 4 or 8 gigs of RAM,fast 2.5” SSD drives and it has dual band WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. We look at the 2.2GHz Core i5 configuration with 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig SSD that sells for 9. For those who prefer something smaller, there’a the Yoga 3 11” with and Intel Core M CPU, full HD display and a lower price tag.

Hands-on review with Lenovo’s Yoga Slim 7 laptops, fresh 14 and 15-inch notebooks for 2020 with AMD or Intel smarts, dedicated graphics, and up to 4K visuals. Could these be the best new laptops of 2020 so far?

While most of the attention was on the ThinkPad X1 Fold and Yoga 5G, these thin and portable PCs were also launched by Lenovo at CES 2020 and they’re well worth a look. Despite the skinny build, the Slim 7 series laptops offer strong performance. Even the base AMD Ryzen 4000 platform can smash through everyday tasks, while the 10th Gen Intel Core version comes with a choice of GeForce graphics.

Battery life is estimated at 14 hours for the Full HD models, while Lenovo reckons you’ll get 11 hours from the special edition 14-inch model with fabric finish. This version also offers Ultra HD visuals, so it’s ideal for kicking back with Netflix or editing your pics in incredibly fine detail.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th gen is only available with non-touch displays, but the good news is that these are the best quality X1 Carbon display yet, available in FHD and QHD resolutions— both are matte, have 300 nits brightness and full SRGB coverage. The laptop weighs 2.6 lbs. (1.2 kg) and is 0.65” (16.5mm) thick. It has a carbon fiber and glass fiber casing and a magnesium roll cage inside.

The laptop is available with 8 or 16 gigs of RAM and your choice of SATA-3 or PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs. Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad T460s, a 14” thin and light business Ultrabook that weighs 3 pounds. This is the slimmer T series model, refreshed with Intel Skylake Core i5 and i7 ULV 6th generation CPUs and Intel HD 520 graphics (NVIDIA 930M is optional in some countries). This laptop looks almost like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga because it’s so slim and tapered. It’s available with 1920 x 1080 matte IPS displays (touch and non-touch) or QHD 2560 x 1440 non-touch with higher brightness and color gamut. It’s passed 8 MIL-STD 810 tests for ruggedness and has a magnesium alloy internal structure.

The laptop starts around ,000 for a Core i5 with 4 gigs of RAM, 128 gig SSD and 1080p non-touch display. Our 1080p touch model with 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig SSD sells for ,300. It maxes out at 20 gigs of RAM, and there are higher capacity SSD options and PCIe NVMe SSD options. It has a backlit keyboard, optional WiGig, optional 4G LTE, Ethernet and an ample selection of ports.

This is a premium sub-,000 Ultrabook with Intel EVO certification that runs Windows 10 on Intel 11th gen Ice Lake CPUs with Intel Iris Xe graphics and it has a full HD touch screen with Wacom AES active pen support. We look at the 9 model that has a sandblasted aluminum casing, Core i5 and a fast NVMe M.2 SSD. It has a high capacity battery for long runtimes, a webcam privacy shutter and fingerprint scanner. It’s the successor to the Lenovo C740. It competes with the HP Envy x360 and Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 models.
