#JackedKirby - Vykin The Black! 💥💥💥 Continuing the MLK day love for Jack’s many multicultural creations let’s take a look at one of the Forever People, Vykin the Black! 💥💥💥 Vykin was one of the 5 Forever People that Kirby created to represent the “Flower Power” generation of the peace & Love 1960s. He wanted to have some representation on New Genesis for these young folks, so this team represents many different cultural, physic and racial archetypes to fulfill that role. 💥💥💥 Vykin is a key member of the team... and he has one of the most important jobs of the squad. He is the keeper of the team’s Mother Box (Pic 1), responsible for utilizing the time jumps that the Mother Box provides as well as its communication with The Infinity Man!!! 💥💥💥 Vykin first appeared in Forever People #Issue1 from March of 1971, and has always been a piece of the team in its many incarnations. He has the power to manipulate metal objects through technology that controls magnetism, and he also has an awesome helmet that has some surprises for anyone who faces him and the squad... 💥💥💥 Vykin was the first black superhero to appear in a DC Comic book, proceeding The Black Racer by a few months. Kirby clearly wanted to emphasize diversity with his 4th World creations... kudos to him for doing just that!
