dhul hijjah - a second chance after ramadan ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what is dhul hijjah?
meaning 'the month of the pilgrimage' as many muslims go on hajj in this time, dhul hijjah is the twelfth and final month of the islamic year. the first ten days of this month are the best days of the entire year. yes - even better than ramadan:
it was narrated by Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days,” meaning the (first) ten days of Dhul- Hijjah" - Sunan Ibn Majah 1727
these ten days encompass the day of Arafah, Hajj, and Eid ul-Adha
this month, we remember prophet Ibrahim (as) and how he was told by Allah to sacrifice his son, Hadrat Ismail (as). he took hadrat Ismail (as) on top of mount Arafat for the sacrifice, and just as he was about to sacrifice Ismail (as), Allah told him to stop as He was only testing him to see if he was truly obedient and willing to sacrifice everything for Allah's sake. the 9th day of dhul hijjah is the day of Arafah, commemorating this event.
we also remember how Allah told Ibrahim (as) to leave Ismail (as) and his wife, Hadrat Hajar, in a desert - which, today, is present day makkah.
this month is therefore about obedience, surrender and sacrifice for Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ.
depending on the sighting of the moon, dhul hijjah is expected to begin friday 7th june!
what to do in these first ten days?
even if you're not going for hajj, you should use these blessed days for extra righteous deeds and worship, especially on the day of arafah - the 9th day (which falls on 16th june this year, Insha'Allah) - the day before eid.
FASTING
it is a sunnah to fast the first 9 days of dhul hijjah. if you won't fast all 9 days, then it's best to prioritise the 9th day, the day of Arafah. this is because the prophet ﷺ said: “Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah expiates for the sins of the year before and the year after.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 1730) however, unless you're going for hajj and you're actually at Afarah, then you cannot as it's forbidden to fast while on the mountain.
DHIKR
it's extremely important to increase your dhikr in this time. recite the tasbeeh, tahmeed, takbeer and tahleel often: tasbeeh - subhanallah (Holy is Allah) tahmeed - alhamdulillah (all praise belongs to Allah) takbeer - Allah Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) tahleel - laa ilaha ill-Allah (there is no God except Allah) Allah said “remembrance of Allah indeed is the greatest virtue” (29:46) - it brings you closer to Him, you feel more certain in His powers that He can remove any hardship which makes the heart feel less anxious, Allah becomes your Friend, you'll become successful (remember Allah often so you may prosper” (8:46), it cleans your heart, it protects you from harm, Allah becomes pleased with you. it truly is the greatest virtue.
also recite istighfar (astagfirullah) and repent for your sins
the best dua to recite on the day of Arafah itself is:
laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer - (None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and all praise and He is over all things omnipotent)
OTHER INCREASED ACTS OF WORSHIP
do extra voluntary acts of worship (nawafil, sunnah prayers, duha prayers)
read a lot of Qur'an
listen to the Qur'an more
send many, many salutations to the Prophet ﷺ (durood sharif!)
practice gratitude. what are you thankful for?
pray tahajjud
give sadaqah / donate to a charity. make sacrifices!
be kind!
read translation and commentary of surahs
listen to islamic podcasts/read islamic books to increase your knowledge
memorise a surah
talk to Allah!!!! pray!!!!
try and increase your acts of worship throughout the 9 days and especially on the 9th day, the day of arafah, which is the day before eid! (16th june Insha'Allah, depending on where you are in the world)
10th day - eid ul adha
on the tenth day of dhul hijjah (eid), our beloved Prophet ﷺ used to give Qurbani (a sacrifice) every year to remember Ibrahim (as) almost sacrificing his son for Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ's sake. muslims sacrifice animals all over the world to follow this sunnah, and donating qurbani is encouraged for every Muslim who is financially able to do so (this can be done online)
Tumblr media
may Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ make it easy for us to utilise these blessed and best 10 days to the best of our abilities, forgive us of our sins, draw us ever nearer to Him and allow us to become His best friends, Allahumma Ameen ♡

For us Malaysians, tomorrow will be the day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah), which begins from Fajr until Maghrib — approximately 12 hours. It’s highly recommended to fast on the day of Arafah for the non-hujjaj. Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
🌺 ❛𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝟭𝟭𝟲𝟮𝗯】
Just ONE day of fasting earns us an expiation of 2 years worth of sins. To see a glimpse of how valuable this day is, try dividing those 2 years with the 12 hours of fasting.
We’ll get 1 minute of fasting = 1 day of forgiveness.
Subhana Allah, it’s not even by the hour, rather by the minute! Literally every single minute that goes by on the day of Arafah is precious in value. So do not skip fasting on the day of Arafah if we’re able to fast.
As for those who cannot fast due to valid reasons, then have the sincere intention that you wanted to fast on that day, because Allah rewards His servants according to their intention.
Besides fasting, we should also focus on 2 more voluntary ibaadat (At-Tirmidhi 3585 | Graded fair by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah):
🌿 (𝟭) 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — it is the best day to make du’a!
🌿 (𝟮) 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁-𝘁𝗮𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 — i.e. laa ilaaha illa Allah, wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-Mulk wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shayin qadeer).
Did you know that the day of Arafah is the same day when Allah took the covenant from Bani Adam? (Musnad Ahmad 2455 | Graded authentic by Sh. al-Albani). Way back before we even came into this world, Allah took the covenant of Tawheed from every single one of us. This happened on the Day of Arafah.
So when the day of Arafah comes again, and as we recite at-tahleel, it is as though we’re renewing that contract with Allah, declaring that we worship no one but Him. So let us live by its meaning, and recite it from the bottom of our hearts.
Indeed, the day of Arafah is not a day for relaxation and entertainment, rather it is a serious day — a day of many virtues and rewards that Allah preserves only for this occasion!

Reflection : 27/5 - The Excellence of Knowledge: Part 2
Praise be to Allah for the bestowal of faith and Islam. Enough [for me] are they as a bestowal.
Alhamdulillah, we thank Allāhﷻ for giving us another day to live, and we thank Him for the opportunity to grant us each breath. For time is capital, and each breath is capital.
We thank our teachers for motivating us to strive along this journey, and we thank Allāhﷻ for sending us a teacher. Jazakallahu Khairan ustad Sameer.
Last week, we highlighted once again the excellence of knowledge and how the one who seeks it is exalted in goodness, and how it stands firm in earning eternal happiness—a happiness no eye has experienced and no heart has felt.
We looked into how knowledge, unlike other precious resources in the world, contains intrinsic value in itself. Unlike gold, silver, or diamonds—which are often used as means to seek other objects—that which has intrinsic value is known to be nobler and more excellent. For example, the physical health Allāh has blessed us with—Alhamdulillah, yā Rabb! May Allāh bless barakah in our health and allow us to be in a state of shukr always. So, the physical health Allāh has bestowed upon us has both intrinsic value and serves as a means to an end. Good health is sought to guard against bodily pain and because it helps man reach his ends and meet his needs.
Likewise, knowledge is in itself delightful; therefore, it is sought for its intrinsic value, and it is also a means leading us to the hereafter. It is part of the journey through which we earn the highest of pleasures, the most noble of delights: to earn the pleasure of Allāh.
As the book states: “The greatest achievement in the opinion of man is eternal happiness, and the most excellent way is the way which leads to it.” One cannot achieve this happiness except through the pursuit of knowledge and its works—and the works are impossible without knowledge of how they are done.
The book further states: “The fruit of knowledge is drawing near to the Lord of the Universe, attaining the rank of the angels, and joining the company of the heavenly hosts. Its fruits in this world, however, are power, dignity, influence over kings, and reverence from all.”
Alhamdulillah that Allāh has made us take this path of knowledge. May Allāh blossom our path with sincerity in seeking His pleasure, purify our hearts, elevate our states, and imbue in us gratitude and noble character! May Allāh grant us istiqamah on this path.
Insha’Allāh, with the best of days entering upon us—the Day of ‘Arafah—I pray Allāh gives us strength and accepts all our du‘ā. For this day forgives our sins of the past year and the present year. Let us not miss this opportunity. Yet, it is indeed Allāh who enables us to perform the deeds we intend.
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّيْ عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
(O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner.)
Virtues of Dhul- Hijjah
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “There are no better days in the sight of Allah than the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah” (Ibn Hibban) The Prophet ﷺ said: "No days are greater to Allah in which good deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days" (Bukhari 969)
Don't forget to fast on the day of Arafah (Falls on the blessed day of next week Friday)
On the authority of Abee Qataadah رضي الله عنه who said that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was asked concerning fasting on the day of ‘Arafah so he said: "It expiates sins of the previous year as well as the following year."

YAUM AL ARAFAH - 9th Dhul-Hijjah REMINDERS
PART 1️⃣
SIGNIFICANCE AND VIRTUES:
1️⃣ *Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for two years. : (For Non Pilgrims)*
The ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah is the day of ’Arafah, since it is on this day that the pilgrims gather at the mountain plain of ’Arafah, praying and supplicating to their Lord. It is mustahabb (highly recommended) for those who are not pilgrims to fast on this day, since the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about fasting on the day of ’Arafah, so he said,
🔹“_It expiates the sins (Minor) of the past year and the coming year.”_ [Muslim (no. 1162)]
Imaam at-Tirmidhee (d.275H) – rahimahullaah – said,
*“The People of Knowledge consider it recommended to fast on the day of ’Arafah, except for those at ’Arafah.”*
[Muslim (no. 1348)]
2️⃣ *Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta'ala frees slaves from the fire on Arafat more than any other day:*
Likewise, the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of ’Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on ’Arafah), and then He revels before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking.”
[Jaami’ut-Tirmidhee (3/377)]
3⃣ *Forgiveness of the Sins even if they are like the foam on the Sea:*
As for you staying till the evening in Arafah, then Allaah descends to the sky of the Duniya and He boasts about you to the Angels, and says: ‘My slaves have come to Me, looking rough, from every deep valley hoping for My mercy, so if your sins were equivalent to the amount of sand or the drops of rain or like the foam on the sea I will forgive them. So go forth My slaves! Having forgiveness and for what or who you have interceded for.’
📚[ Taken from ‘Saheeh al-Targheeb wa Tarheeb’. Volume 2,Page 9-10, hadeeth no. 1112]
4⃣ *It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allaah’s Favour was completed:*
It was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) that a Jewish man said to him, “O Ameer al-Mu’mineen, there is an aayah in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an ‘Eid (festival).” ‘Umar said, “Which aayah?” He said: “This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” [al-Maa’idah 5:3 – interpretation of the meaning]. ‘Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It was when he was standing in ‘Arafaah on a Friday.”
📚 [Sahîh Al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]
5⃣ *Allaah expresses His pride to His angels:*
It was reported from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah expresses His pride to His angels at the time of ‘Ishaa’ on the Day of ‘Arafaah, about the people of ‘Arafaah. He says, ‘Look at My slaves who have come unkempt and dusty.’”
📚Narrated by Ahmad and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.
6⃣ *The standing on ‘Arafaat is the hajj.*
The standing on ‘Arafaat is the hajj. The crowds should remind you of the Day of Resurrection. Humble yourself to Allaah, manifest your ‘uboodiyyah to Him Alone through du’aa, sincere intention and strong determination to free yourself from the sins of the past and to build up a commitment to rush for doing what is good. Think of becoming a better person when you return. Rid yourself of false pride and showing off because it may ruin what you gain on this day.

Dhul Hijjah
Best 10 days of the year islam
Dhul Hijjah is the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar. The first ten days are considered the best days of the year, even more so than the last ten days of Ramadan. Indeed, Sunan Ibn Majah states that 'there are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days'.
What are the most important 10 days in Islam?
According to many scholars of the Qur'an, the days mentioned as significant enough for Allah to swear by them are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Whoever is not able to go to Hajj should use this blessed time to complete even more righteous deeds than usual.

Indeed, Sunan Ibn Majah states that ‘there are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days’.
These days also mark the beginning of the Hajj pilgrimage. Among them, the 9th day — the Day of Arafah — holds special significance. On this day in 632CE, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) delivered his final sermon on Mount Arafat, and Allah (SWT) completed His favour and perfected the religion of Islam.
Even if you’re not performing Hajj this year, you can still benefit from the immense blessings of Dhul Hijjah. Discover how to make the most of ten days that matter.
VOLUNTARY FASTING – REWARDS FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.” (Ibn Majah)
Fasting on the Day of Arafah helps us seek forgiveness and grow closer to Allah (SWT). If you are unable to fast on the 9th day, fasting on any one of the first ten days is still beneficial. According to a Tirmidhi narrated hadith, the Prophet (ﷺ) is reported to have said it is like fasting for an entire year.
TAHAJJUD – NIGHT PRAYER DURING DHUL HIJJAH
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “To offer salatul tahajjud [night prayer] during one of its nights is like performing the late-night prayer on the night of power [Lailatul Qadr].” (Tirmidhi)
Tahajjud, the voluntary night prayer, is usually offered in the last third of the night. It brings many blessings, and you can multiply your reward by performing it on one of the first ten nights of Dhul Hijjah.
RECITING SALAWAT DURING DHUL HIJJAH
Verily, God and His angels bless the Prophet (ﷺ): “[hence,] O you who have attained to faith, bless him and give yourselves up [to his guidance] in utter self-surrender!” (The Holy Qur’an 33:56)
Reciting Salawat is a beautiful way to strengthen our connection with the Prophet (ﷺ) in Dhul Hijjah. Many hadiths speak about its virtues, and the Qur’an also mentions it. Allah (SWT) and His angels send blessings, and we are told to do the same.
TAKBEER TASHREEQ: REMEMBERING ALLAH (SWT)
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, laa ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahi’l hamd.
Translation: Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no God but Allah; Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.
We remember Allah (SWT) every day, but the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are especially important. It was during this time that Allah (SWT) perfected the religion of Islam. One meaningful way to express our gratitude is by reciting the Takbeer Tashreeq. Start after Fajr on the 9th and continue until Asr on the 13th—the final day of Eid al-Adha.
GIVE SADAQAH – MULTIPLY YOUR REWARDS IN DHUL HIJJAH
For those who give in Charity, men and women, and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and they shall have [besides] a liberal reward. (Holy Qur’an 57:18)
Sadaqah, from the Arabic word ‘sidq’ meaning sincerity, is a sign of genuine faith. Giving Sadaqah for the sake of Allah (SWT) brings Barakah to our wealth and opens the door to future blessings.
In Pakistan, 75% of those who rely on Shaukat Khanum Hospitals for cancer care face significant economic challenges. By adding a small Sadaqah donation to your Qurbani, you can help us provide essential support to ease their burden throughout the year.
GIVE QURBANI – FROM THE 10 BEST DAYS TO EID AL-ADHA
A believer who performs Qurbani with sincerity will reap a reward for every hair of the animal they sacrifice. (Tirmidhi)

GIVE QURBANI – FROM THE 10 BEST DAYS TO EID AL-ADHA

dhul hijjah 2025 - a second chance after ramadan ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what is dhul hijjah?
meaning 'the month of the pilgrimage' as many muslims go on hajj in this time, dhul hijjah is the twelfth and final month of the islamic year. the first ten days of this month are the best days of the entire year. yes - even better than ramadan:
it was narrated by Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days,” meaning the (first) ten days of Dhul-Hijjah" - Sunan Ibn Majah 1727
these ten days encompass the day of Arafah, Hajj, and Eid ul-Adha
this month, we remember prophet Ibrahim (as) and how he was told by Allah to sacrifice his son, Hadrat Ismail (as). he took hadrat Ismail (as) on top of mount Arafat for the sacrifice, and just as he was about to sacrifice Ismail (as), Allah told him to stop as He was only testing him to see if he was truly obedient and willing to sacrifice everything for Allah's sake. the 9th day of dhul hijjah is the day of Arafah, commemorating this event.
we also remember how Allah told Ibrahim (as) to leave Ismail (as) and his wife, Hadrat Hajar, in a desert - which, today, is present day makkah.
this month is therefore about obedience, surrender and sacrifice for Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ.
depending on the sighting of the moon, dhul hijjah is expected to begin 28th may!
what to do in these first ten days?
even if you're not going for hajj, you should use these blessed days for extra righteous deeds and worship, especially on the day of arafah - the 9th day (which falls on 5th june this year, Insha'Allah) - the day before eid.
FASTING
it is a sunnah to fast the first 9 days of dhul hijjah. if you won't fast all 9 days, then it's best to prioritise the 9th day, the day of Arafah. this is because the prophet ﷺ said: “Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah expiates for the sins of the year before and the year after.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 1730) however, unless you're going for hajj and you're actually at Afarah, then you cannot as it's forbidden to fast while on the mountain.
if you can't or are unable to fast, you can give an expiation (fidya).
DHIKR
it's extremely important to increase your dhikr in this time. recite the tasbeeh, tahmeed, takbeer and tahleel often: tasbeeh - subhanallah (Holy is Allah) tahmeed - alhamdulillah (all praise belongs to Allah) takbeer - Allah Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) tahleel - laa ilaha ill-Allah (there is no God except Allah) Allah said “remembrance of Allah indeed is the greatest virtue” (29:46) - it brings you closer to Him, you feel more certain in His powers that He can remove any hardship which makes the heart feel less anxious, Allah becomes your Friend, you'll become successful (remember Allah often so you may prosper” (8:46), it cleans your heart, it protects you from harm, Allah becomes pleased with you. it truly is the greatest virtue.
also recite istighfar (astagfirullah) and repent for your sins
the best dua to recite on the day of Arafah itself is:
laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer - (None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner.

⭐ 𝟯 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 '𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵
For us Malaysians, tomorrow will be the day of ‘Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah), which begins from Fajr until Maghrib — approximately 12 hours. It's highly recommended to fast on the day of 'Arafah for the non-hujjaj. Rasulullah salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:
🌺 ❛Fasting on the day of 'Arafah expiates sins of 2 years: (1) the previous, and (2) the coming year.❜ 【Sahih Muslim 1162b】
Just one day of fasting earns us an expiation of 2 years worth of sins. To see a glimpse of how valuable this day is, try dividing those 2 years with the 12 hours of fasting.
We’ll get 1 minute of fasting = 1 day of forgiveness.
Subhana Allah, it's not even by the hour. Rather by the minute! Literally every single minute that goes by on the day of ‘Arafah is precious in value. So do not skip fasting on the day of ‘Arafah if we're able to fast.
As for those who cannot fast due to valid reasons, then have the sincere intention that you wanted to fast on that day, because Allah rewards His servants according to their intention.
Besides fasting, we should also focus on 2 more voluntary ‘ibaadat (Refer At-Tirmidhi 3585 | Graded fair by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah):
🌺 (1) Increase in making supplications — it is the best day to make du’a!
🌺 (2) Reciting at-tahleel in abundance (i.e. Laa ilaaha illa Allah wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-Mulk wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shayin qadeer).
Did you know that the day of ‘Arafah is the same day when Allah ta’ala took the covenant from Bani Adam? (Refer: Musnad Ahmad 2455 | Graded authentic by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah). Way back before we even came into this world, Allah took the covenant of Tawheed from every single one of us. This happened on the Day of Arafah.
So when the day of ‘Arafah comes again, and as we recite at-tahleel, it is as though we’re renewing that contract with Allah, declaring that we worship no one but Him. So let us live by its meaning, and recite it from the bottom of our hearts.
Indeed, the day of Arafah is not a day for relaxation and entertainment, rather it is a serious day — a day of many virtues and rewards that Allah preserves only for this occasion.

Reflection : 20/5 - The Excellence of Knowledge: Part 1
Tumblr media
Praise be to Allah for the bestowal of faith and Islam. Enough [for me] are they as a bestowal.
We praise Allah, the Most High, for granting us another day and allowing us to worship Him. We seek Allah’s pardon for our shortcomings and His aid in every matter of ours. May He bless us and facilitate it for us. We look forward to continuing to write our reflections and to strive against our four enemies: the nafs, Shaytaan, Dunya, and the mahul (environment). May Allah increase us in himma and adhima!
طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ
As a quote often attributed to Rumi mentions:
“Come, come, whoever you are—wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vow a thousand times. Come, come yet again, come.”
We pray to Allah for His rida and for istiqamah in our deeds. Ya Allah, accept it from us!
For last week’s Tuesday class (20/5), we looked into the astounding virtue of the excellence of knowledge. It was quoted by Muadh ibn Jabal, a young scholar who was described by the Prophet ﷺ as the most knowledgeable of this Ummah in halal and haram, and who was told by the Prophet ﷺ that he loved him for Allah’s sake. The Prophet ﷺ also taught him this profound dua that we recite at our masjid after each prayer:
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّيْ عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
(O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner.)
Narration:
The Prophet ﷺ said one day, ‘O Mu’adh, by Allah, I love you dearly, so do not forget to recite after every prayer: “Allah, help me in remembering You, in offering thanks to You, and in worshiping You properly.”’
In regards to the hadith shared, which we found profoundly insightful on the excellence of knowledge, the following was discussed (a long narration, so I will quote portions for brevity). This whole narration contains many gems on the excellence of knowledge.
For it mentions that the pursuit of knowledge is worship, and teaching is equivalent to sadaqah. It also teaches that we should be careful about whom we impart knowledge to, as this knowledge is invaluable and holds significant value—it should not be tainted. It further states that the angels seek their friendship, and even the living and the dead, the whales and fish of the sea, the lions and beasts of the field, as well as the heavens and their stars, intercede for them—because knowledge is the protection of hearts against blindness, the light of the eyes in darkness, and the fortification of the body against decay.
Therefore, based on the above, this highlights the immense reality of seeking beneficial knowledge. We thank Allah for guiding us every single day and for granting us a teacher. I would like to end the post with a significant lesson I have learned recently:
True knowledge is knowledge that transforms us. We pray that Allah allows this knowledge to transform us into people who truly please Him. Ameen, ya Rabb. As we are approaching the blessed month of Dhul- Hijjah, coming wednesday evening. We have attached the virtues of Dhul- Hijjah and comprehensive guide on Dhul-Hijjah by Life With Allah. Note: As the class on 28/5 also looked into the Excellence of Knowledge. It will be continued as part 2.
Comprehensive Dhul-Hijjah Guide Book: https://lifewithallah.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/The-Best-Days-of-Your-Life-LWA.pdf
Additional Excerpt from the Narration:
"Acquire knowledge, for its acquisition is [equivalent to] the fear of God, its pursuit is [equivalent to] worship, its study is [equivalent to] praise, searching for it is [equivalent to] jihad, teaching it to him who does not know is [equivalent to] almsgiving, and imparting it to those who are worthy is meritorious.
Furthermore, it is the bosom friend of the lonesome, the companion in solitude, the guide [to religion], the comforter in both happiness and misfortune, the aid to the lonely, the relative among strangers, and the beacon on the road to Paradise.
Through it, God exalts a few and makes them leaders in virtues, chiefs and counsellors worthy of emulation, pioneers in righteousness whose footsteps should be followed and whose deeds should be observed.
The angels seek their friendship and with their wings they touch them to gain thereby their favour. The living and the dead, yea even the whales and the fish of the sea, the lions and beasts of the field, as well as the heaven and its stars intercede for them, because knowledge is the protection of hearts against blindness, the light of the eyes in darkness, and the fortification of the body against decay.
Through it, man attains the dignity of sainthood and the loftiest ranks. To reflect upon it is [as meritorious] as fasting, and its study, as continual prayer.
Through it, God is obeyed, worshipped, and glorified; through it, He admonishes and forewarns; through it, His unity is declared, and through it also [humans] abstain from sin.
Through knowledge, the ties of relationship are made close by kindly deeds, and the lawful and the unlawful are made known.
Knowledge is like an imam, whereas works are his followers. Knowledge is bestowed upon the fortunate and from the unfortunate withheld."

The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah hold immense virtues and blessings in Islam. Here are some key highlights:
✨ Highly Beloved to Allah: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." (Bukhari) Engaging in acts of worship during these days earns immense rewards from Allah.
✨ The Best Days for Good Deeds: These ten days provide a unique opportunity to excel in performing good deeds. Engage in acts of worship such as reciting the Quran, offering prayers, giving charity, fasting, making supplications, and remembering Allah abundantly.
✨ The Day of Arafah: The ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, known as the Day of Arafah, holds exceptional significance. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Hellfire than the Day of Arafah." (Muslim) Pilgrims gather in the plain of Arafah for supplication and seeking forgiveness.
✨ Forgiveness of Sins: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever fasts on the Day of Arafah, his sins of the previous and upcoming year will be forgiven." (Muslim) Fasting on the Day of Arafah, for those not performing Hajj, is highly recommended.
✨ Animal Sacrifice: Sacrificing an animal during Eid al-Adha (10th of Dhul Hijjah) commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). This act signifies obedience to Allah's commands and the rewards are immense. The meat is shared with the needy.
✨ Increased Rewards: Rewards for good deeds during these ten days are multiplied manyfold. Every act of worship, no matter how small, carries immense weight and blessings during this period.
✨ Encouraged Voluntary Fasting: Observing voluntary fasts during the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah, excluding the Day of Eid, is highly recommended. Fasting is a means of seeking closeness to Allah and earning His rewards.
