Day Three of Monkey Island Appreciation Week: Caught-Off-Guard Moment

The ending of The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood. I admit I completely bought LeChuck’s reformed act when he burst into the courtroom and told all about the Voodoo Lady. So hearing him mention “winning Elaine’s hand in unholy matrimony” and then immediately stab Guybrush was a shock.

Not to mention the way the whole scene plays out, there’s no last minute save, there are no jokes, LeChuck won and Guybrush is dying. 

Dominic Armato and Alexandra Boyd really gave their best for this scene and of course the return of Earl Boen as LeChuck.

I remember playing this episode after I got home from work at the movie theater and played it into the night and being so upset and crying as I went to bed after I finished. I even drew fanart of the scene cause it affected me so much.
