I haven't been uploading for Febkewary because I was working a convention! Usually I don't post my con art on here but I figured I would this time. Starting with this block of Zelda commissions!

Can i just say as both an artist and cosplayer i am so greatful and amazed over Jojo's amazing linked universe comic and just how much time and effort she puts into it.

i mean i am floored over 10 pages a month fully colored with detailed backgrounds and good story, believe me it's crazy amount of work. ...and speech bubbles. eurgh typography...(u can guess which part of comic making i enjoy the least)

Not only that but i am eternally greatfull for just how many angles we get to see the characters in the comic, the varied poses and expressions are not only amazing to look at and great way to show personalities, but also just such great reference points when either drawing the characters or trying to figure out how the hell a costume is built up.

AND jojo has drawn them in various stages of their clothes on during the comic, so you KNOW HOW THE LAYERING WORKS.

How is Time's armor built up? Boom right there in multiple angles and sometimes off.

Ah how does Hyrule's layering work? BOOM right there with an interesting maybe leather based under-armor??

How large is Twilight's chainmail and how is it built up? BAM right there.

Jojo literally drew a whole page of how Sky's clothes are built up, layer by layer.

It's truly a blessing!

AND IT IS CRAZY that jojo added so much beautiful embroidery to the characters' clothes.

(my brain is like "oh but me like to know every detail of the embroidery of every character", and i end up looking at the pictures and say "sush brain don't be a spoilsport they're already detailed just use your imagination of what jojo has drawn and what could fit the specifics", because that is fun too! like Sky's embroidery on his over-undershirt could very much be berries of some sort on twig together with some sort of classic skyloftian forms, like lingon berries though it isn't,( i know that lingon berries don't exist in hyrule...) but it would be a fun idea!)

As you can see by my... detailed oriented nature i am very interested in their designs. But again the whole comic is a true wonder, i mean, so many angles not just the characters but the surroundings. So many different zoom-outs and zoom-ins utilized, the comic knows when to change from one character to another to more than one. So it's great on a technical standpoint too. And it's SO cool to see how Jojo's art has changed through time. (that is not a pun)

Anyway, i felt like i had a lot to say, and this was me saying it. I guess it's a Appreciation post for jojo, for showing other artists and creatives so much different and amazing artwork. (and giving us amazing references)

But also it's that i want other people to see(though i think they do already) how much time and effort and love has been put into it, not that it matters much coming from me as a random person who happens to enjoy her work.

But i think it's fun to show appreciation for artists and writers anyway.

"your hair is so soft..." you mummered, combing your fingers through his brown locks. he was seated on the carpeted floor of your living room as you sat on the couch he leaned his back against it.

"i always thought it would be greasy.." you admitted, causing him to choke on a laugh. "it' not like i wash it a lot anyways."

you cringed to yourself, now rubbing his scalp, relaxing him.

"your disgusting, osamu.." you shook your head, feeling his hands suddenly take your own and kissed the back of your palm.

"what does that say for you, sweetheart?~" he winked, causing you to blush and pull at his hair slightly, causing a loud shriek from your boyfriends lips.

"your hair smells..." you started, sniffing his hair in your hands softly before continuing to comb your fingers through it, "good.."

a soft smile formed on your boyfriend's lips, chuckling to himself. "that's because i just came out of the shower?"

he is right, he had jus finished blow drying his hair.

you rolled your eyes, "i don't mean just now, i mean almost all the time!" "almost??" he pulled away to give you a playful glare as you laughed into your arm.

"yohou know what i mean!"

you gently pulled him close to you again and combed your fingers once again through the redheads locks; "besides...lavender smells real good on you!" you whispered into his ear and he shivered.

"fuck it." he stated blankly and turned around quickly to kiss your lips, your fingers tangled in his hair still.

"it looks like a christmas tree.." you spoke suddenly, breaking the soothing silence in sigma's room in the casio. the two of you were seated on his bed, you on your knees playing with his long hair.

"christmas tree?"

you laughed, "your hair, dork. it's almost like a lavender christmas tree! why did we spend all that money for christmas tree for the agency, when we could have just had you!" you teased, for some reason making your boyfriend blush.

"that..would not be possible. i am not a tree..."

he couldn't help up melt the longer you played with his hair.

you sighed, "i guess your right..." you started, suddenly moving parts of his hair behind his ear and kissing his temple; "you are my amazing boyfriend, who is the number one christmas tree cosplayer i have ever seen!"

"who cuts your bangs?" you asked, catching him a little of guard. the two of you were seated on the couch of the agency, just finishing your shifts and finished having to deal with a complaining dazai.

"uhm..me? the orphanage never really cared for cutting my hair, so i had to kinda...learn on my own?" he spoke quietly, the thought of the orphanage caused major, horrible flashbacks.

"m'sorry, babe..." you felt horrible for making now feel like this when he was so happy throughout the rest of the day.

with an idea now in your head, you took a bit of his hair and started to comb through it, making him flinch; "what-what are you-" he stops talking, melting into your touch and eventually leaning against you and closed his eyes.

"they're beautiful.." you smiled wobbly and kissed his forehead as he fell asleep to your touch.

"don't touch me!" he didn't mean to slap your hand away, and he didn't mean for it to come off as rude...but you wouldn't back off.

you glared at your boyfriend who had refused to let you touch his hair for the 5th time today.

"but, ryu! it's like a stress reliever for meee! i need to touch it~" you reached out once more, only for him to take it and pin it above your head, hovering over you.

he towered over your body, his eyes narrowed down staring into your own.

a pout soon took over your lips, and he visibly shivered at the sight; "fine. you may touch it; but no one must ever see of it?" you nod quickly, and turned positions with him so now he's the one under you as you placed your chin on his chest and played with the ends of hair.

Dan accidentally said "Dan and pheal" instead of Dan and Phil and they both stopped to pretend to hold the pheal. Dan said that would be a better show than this.

I don't know if this happens at EVERY show but in ours, the audience chose to kill the original Dan and Phil every time

Dan has illegalized ted Cruz but then got arrested for being British. Dr Phil loves helping old ladies cum and his favorite word is skibidi. I don't remember the third facts for either

Even though it wasn't picked, a whole bunch of people around us (and us) started chanting "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK" when they asked what Dr. Phil's favorite word would be. Later we chanted "TOUR BUS" but that one worked!!!!

One of the audience confessions was that someone likes to "mark their territory" (yes. In the gross way) to know what it's like so sister Daniel called them a bad kitty and they sprayed the audience with water. Also Phil called out that some people had their MOUTHS OPEN while they were being sprayed.

The other audience confessions were that someone wrote "Phantrash(insert some numbers I can't remember)" on a wall in invisible ink and then MOVED OUT OF THW HOUSE AND LEFT IT THERE??? And then a confession that just said "someone in the audience thinks you sound like owls" which they both were confused by at first, but then Dan's face like. LIT UP in recognition and he repeated the question to Phil and Phil said "Who?" And Dan LOST IT and made fun of him. LMAO

They explained their first experience at a bucces. And THEN later phil said that his new favorite nuts are bucces nuts (as revealed later when they were asked by the audience to discuss nuts). Also they hate peanuts and think no one likes them unless they're paid to by "big peanut". And they both like "hot nuts" and Dan likes them salted and Phil likes them sweetened/candied. And yes they made sex jokes about it and also Dan said that Phil's favorite nuts were actually HIS NUTS

Unrelated to the show itself but someone was handing out worms, and there were SO many sister Daniel cosplayers, and I happened to sit literally right in front of two other systems so it was like. Halfway through the show we realized that's what was happening and it was like HEWWO???? WOAH. Also this was my first time in Austin and guys... guys some sections of these roads are fucking perpendicular. I saw multiple people with mobility aids and like I HAVE ZERO AIDS AND IT HURT TO WALK ARE Y'ALL GOATS??? ARE YOU JUST NOT ABLE TO WALK OUTSIDE AT ALL AND HAVE TO TAKE CARS??? The whole fucking city is a series of V shapes with buildings on it. Girl why do your streets go straight up into the sky are you trying to drive up to jesus. Liked the rentable scooters tho

Her family is literally crack personified. They are HEAVILY, EXTREMELY AND HARSHLY based on The Amazing World of Gumball, because that was my favorite cartoon when i was growing up and i adored how crazy the family was 💀HUGE ASS FUCKING FAMILY INCOMING Her dad practically married himself in woman form (but shes more chill and introverted than him- they're both chaotic as hell), and then her siblings (eight older brothers; two are adopted, two older sisters, middle siblings who are triplets ( sister, brother and ftm brother) three younger brothers and an adopted younger sister (BASICALLY AN ALL BOY FAMILY AND SOME GIRLS SPRINKLED IN 💀)

There's the oldest brother, Who's name I have no idea yet I just call him T. He's 42 years old and is a fucking unit. He has a family with a wife and three kids. (No idea how he looks either)

The second oldest brother idk his name either is 41 years old and is also a fucking unit. He's single and is an engineer

The third oldest brother is 39 years old. Don't know what to name him lol Also another unit but has a bionic leg. He's a single father and has a daughter.

The fourth oldest brother is also 39 years old. He's tall as shit but more skinny. He has a girlfriend and a boyfriend and is a mad scientist. (Legally? Probably not. Insanely smart and makes weapons? PROBABLY YES)

The fifth oldest brother is 37 years old, his name is Grizz. He's built like his dad (big and burly with a gut) and has his personality. He's a firefighter

And then the sixth older brother, he's 36 years old (no idea what to name him) he's a CEO of a company. He has a wife and five kids

They're all absolute units like good lord

There are two adopted older brothers. One of them, who is also 36 years old, was a son to a family friend. His family died and they took him in. He's a chef. The other one, his name is Sammy, he's 35 years old and is now a musician.

The two older sisters, aka: The Domino twins, the animator and the police officer. Idk their names dammit-- but they're both 35 years old. The police officer has an eye patch and grayed early, while the animator has a scar over her other eye and black hair. (Hence why people call them Domino)

And then the triplets, all 28 years old. The sister is a hairstylist and a cosplayer, the brother is a game designer named Ezekiel, and the other brother who is trans (ftm) is a voice actor and a professional gamer. (GUESS WHAT- DONT KNOW THEIR NAMES LMAO)

And then a younger brother, who's 18 years old (last year in high school BABBYYYY) And then the younger twins who are 10 years old and then the adopted sister who is four.

One of her aunts on the dad's side practically lives in prison because of the unlucky luck that runs in the family, the other one is the most normal one and she's a nurse, and her uncle on the mom's side that's literally a revolutionary war (to a war NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF) hero with HIS crazy ass family... NOT TO MENTION THE GRANDPARENTS AND GREAT GRANDPARENTS (ON BOTH FUCKIN SIDES) one was in the Italian mob and has connections that shouldn't be connections, and the other one owns a tiger, a lion and a raccoon that was the replacement for the bear when the tiger and the lion ate it. (I'll let yall decide who's who), and then one has a fortune but forgot where it's buried, and then the other one is a musician! (As I said, I'll let you decide who's who)

they invited her team(yes, Keegan as well), Los Vaqueros, and Krueger plus Graves to have like a welcome back cookout at their big country home

And the chaos IMMEDIATELY started when they got there.

The younger twins forgot that they set up a trap on the house, so when Sweetheart opened the door, she got hit in the face with a pan, fell on the ground, and then whip cream came flying out, hitting Soap in the face.

They all started talking, Sweet's mom REALLY like the boys (Especially Alejandro and Price) and Sweet's Dad really like Ghost and Roach. Grizz and VA brother like Gaz, and the adopted sister really likes Soap and Keegan. Police sister likes König's vibes and hairdresser and Sammy fuck with Krueger and Graves. All in all they like Sweetheart's co-workers and accepts them

QSMP community positivity because the streamer awards made me so happy

QSMP Digital Artist - Ate and left NO crumbs ever omg. The amount of detail, varying styles, and epic scenes are my favorite. The variety of art styles for QSMP artist is like just going to a buffet to browse and they're all special little dishes made with so much love.

QSMP Tradtional Artist - HOW CAN YOU DRAW/PAINT SOME OF THIS STUFF?? Watercolor paintings of QSMP bulids, notebook spreads with cute little details, the fact that you can draw traditionally at all. All so talented.

QSMP Beginner Artist - NEVER GET DISCOURAGED <33. Everyone was a beginner at some point and seeing people improve over time with their art is so cool. I consider myself still a beginner even though I've been drawing for a couple years now lol. There is still so much for me to learn, and the fact how kind the qsmp art community is makes me so happy. Keep improving, your art looks great <3

QSMP Fanfiction Authors - I don't know whether to compliment you or ask for my therapy payment (/lh). So many authors have ripped my heart out and left it out to dry and others are like a bucket of fluff and joy. I love both of these. The writing quality is genuinely amazing on so many of these. I love to visualize when reading and with all the details it's basically just watching a movie.

QSMP Web Weavers - You guys are AMAZING. Finding so many quotes, transcripts, fanarts, aesthetic photos, and being able to combine them in a way that represents characters so well is beautiful. Not to mention the fact how your able to put credits for everything in an easy to find way??? Perfect.

QSMP Moodboards/Stimboard makers - These are so cute aaaa. I love seeing them, all the little collections of photos or gifs of characters I like is very fun.

QSMP Poll Accounts - I LIVE for taking polls. It's just fun to have a place to put an opinion you had for yourself that you didn't know how to put unprompted on your own post. Seeing results after a while also makes me happy to see what as a general consensus the fandom is on.

QSMBLR and QSMPTWT users - Transferring information from one hellsite to the other, I admire anyone who can survive in the discourse trenches and come back with account updates.

QSMP Clip accounts - I love seeing silly clips of cubitos, and especially those with transcripts and translations. It's a lot of effort and I admire that. Gives me so much info I would've missed otherwise.

QSMP translators - As someone still currently learning the other languages, it is so helpful when people translate it. Sometimes your brain just hurts and you can only read your native language. Also anyone who translates things from English to other languages, yes please make it for other speakers.

QSMP Multi-Shippers - It's so fun to see these, yes give your cubito 7 different romantic/platonic partners. You guys collect ships like Pokémon and it is inspiring

QSMP Cosplayers - I respect cosplayers so much. The wigs, the makeup, the costume, the PROPS?? All take so much work it's amazing to see final products. I reccently tried making a scythe for one I want to do, and I was struggling. Y'all are so cool.

QSMP Character Analysis Posts - Keeping fanfiction accuracy and my personal view on characters as close to canon as possible. These help so much when I need to look for a character I haven't watched much and easy to read.

QSMP Livebloggers - Save me from losing track of lore when I'm busy. I swear some of you just never sleep (please do but thank you for information). The amount of stuff I can figure out from vague post of combined livebloggers makes it much easier to know what's happening. Most of my mutual liveblog a lot and it saves me so much time <3

QSMP Rebloggers - KEEPING THIS FANDOM ALIVE‼️‼️ Tumblrs algorithm is based on reblogs, accounts that are just lurkers rb stuff ily. Hell yeah man, take all the cool stuff and share it.

QSMP Animatics - Movie night exists because of you guys!! Sometimes you all make me want to sob violently or laugh till I can't breathe. The differences in each video is so fun to see. The effort in each one is just beautiful too, animatics are NOT easy.

QSMP Editors - The fact that people can take a cube game and turn into epic/sad/cute edits with a few clips, transitions, and audios astounds me. You guys are so cool and I love seeing them. Also the fanart edits are so sick, finding the best ones to match.

QSMP Fan Video Creators - Stuff like the Federation Welcoming Workers Video, that one cucrucho cereal video, things like that. Quality is usually amazing and all the unique takes or camera work is epic. Idk what else fits in this genre but I just wanted to mention it.

QSMP RP Accounts - Seeing other people's takes on characters are so interesting and fun to see. RP is a skill I need to work on and it's done pretty well with these accounts. The amount of detail y'all can put is insane.

QSMP OC creators - Cringe culture is dead, I love seeing people make their little characters interact with eachother based on the QSMP. Keep it up and pls share it.

QSMP 3D Animators/Modelers - I never expirence more joy than when I see a 3D model of a qsmp rat spinning around. Also any 3D animators your dedication is insane. I tried learning 3D animation once and that was a STRUGGLE.

QSMP Vod savers/YT summaries -Actual lifesavers, there is no way I could've been apart of this community without them. Watching a few videos a day about what happened on the server makes it easier for me to actually do other things. Also that one person who made a QSMP2023 summary in UNDER 10 minutes, you are insane and did such a great job.

QSMP Accounts in Different Languages - QSMPBLR is heavily more English speaking than other languages, and when people main tag with post in different languages it makes me so happy. This was the point of the server, to let people post in whatever language they wanted. It's also fun for me to practice and try to translate it for myself.

Anyways NYCC was a blast this year! They're still scaling back all the actual cool stuff so the show floor was a huge pile of meh.

Cosplay scene was rad for a Sunday. It felt weird not going as a kamen rider or either flavor of ranger but there's always next year.

Toku wise I only ran into some honestly amazing king ohgers. And I finally took pics of someone else at a big con!

Uuuhhhhh anyways lethal company was a pretty big hit on the floor. Tons of compliments and bits, not a ton of pics but that was people being considerate of the crowds.

I had to get a across the water skyline shot.

Finally.... the skybox....

I got really lucky finding this helmet model when I did. Though this cosplay group had rubber masks? I was jealous honestly. It was hot as hell in a full printed helmet.

But I lasted 30 minutes straight with it on which was cool! I had to take my tank off though it was a show floor nightmare.

ALSO I GOT PICS WITH OTHER LC COSPLAYERS. Wish I got pics with all of them I saw.

Freddie has some serious rizz.

I mean our sweet boi is dating a literal goddess.

I can just picture Freddie, this sweetheart who happens to be a walking pop culture dictionary, introducing her to this strange modern world and she's just dazzled or confused about it all.

He would probably take her to her first comic con with his family and she just admires and compliments all the artists and cosplayers, but never buys anything.

At least until she gets to the weapons and Rosa just says no.

After thinking about the movie, I realized that she's lost everything. Her family is gone and she only has the shazamily and the wizard as her allies. There's plenty of potential for angst if someone wanted to write it. Anthea probably blames herself for what happened, telling herself that "I could've done more to stop Kalypso" or "Maybe if was stronger no one would've been harmed" or even " I could've changed her mind, I could've saved my sister's from themselves".

I know she said she was going to stay in the mortal world for a while, so I'd like to think that the family let Anthea stay in the Rock of Eternity.

She could probably teach the shazamily about the gods and maybe cool subsets of their powers that they don't even know about.

I like the theory of Anthea being taken under Wonder Woman's wing to train as her apprentice and eventually becomes a new iteration of Wonder Girl. I mean they're cousins and she seems to be very curious but protective of humanity. I'll probably draw that idea some other day.

Billy probably teases Freddie all the time about his girlfriend, Darla would love to have a new person to have at her tea parties and Anthea would treat them as a serious event and announce Freddie as her plus one.

except this time it isn't about pearl. it's about her amazing and kind community which i am so proud and happy to be apart of

i try to be active on all my social media platforms, uplifting all pearl fans bc y'all are amazing and extremely talented people. y'all deserve all the praise in the world

on tiktok, the cosplayers are so impressive in the way they can transform into a character or person. i've seen so many people somehow capture pearl's energy almost perfectly. the art these people do to their bodies is so cool and i'm hoping to become one of them soon

on twitter and tumblr, the fanartists are constantly and continuously making me shocked with how great they are at turning a bunch of pixels into something beautiful and realistic. all great fanartists out there deserve so much more recognition and love for what they do bc it's absolutely ridiculous how they're able to capture such energy and beauty in their art

to the writers, i am still surprised every time i read a beautiful angst piece and i can feel the raw emotion the writer put in there. i'm a writer, in mutliple ways, and i still don't understand how other writers do it

on youtube, the comments never fail to make me smile or laugh. everyone there is so kind to each other and especially to pearl. they're also very funny a lot of the times, making jokes about something pearl did or said or just simply quoting her. it always brightens my day

on discord, y'all are so silly and sweet. you can go into general chat, say timezone, and someone is bound to respond. the conversations that i've witnessed and been apart of, from trying to describe a toaster in the longest way possible to the dutch, y'all never fail to make me smile [or a little scared with the things y'all say, but in a good way!]

and finally, on twitch, y'all are genuinely the nicest people i've ever seen. the joy y'all have for other people's success, the jokes y'all come up with, the kind words y'all always have for pearl, everything. sure, we get the occasional weirdo or bad person, but y'all are good at ignoring them and not letting them bring down our great vibes

i am so proud to be apart of this community. i've been in online spaces for almost a decade now, and this is the only place i've ever truly felt safe. everyone in pearl's community is such a kind, caring, sweet, genuine person from what i've seen. pearl, you've created an amazing community. you should feel proud

Death Note the Musical @ NYCC2023: Album Listening Party

As described by Playbill: "A late-night listening party of the recently announced studio concept album will follow at 9 PM, with Valdes and John-Wilson joining along with host Louis Hobson and special guest Ashley Loren (Moulin Rouge! The Musical)."

I want to emphasize that the listening party happened almost 12 hours after the morning DNTM panel and on Day 3 of the con. People were exhausted, but so many people still made it a point to come check out the new album for a show that has never been performed in the US. I got there 40 minutes before the start time and there was already a sizable queue. Anyway, here's the deets (I don't have a full recording of this since my phone was about to die so this is just what I remember):

Louis Hobson, one of the producers in London and producer for the concept album, did trivia and gave away merch. He introduced the album sneak peeks with, "Some of these tracks just came to me today and we put them in the show today."

Frank Wildhorn was in Hawaii and couldn't make it, but he recorded a brief video to say hi. I saw it shared as an Instagram story later but I can't find it now so it's possible it didn't get preserved. Luckily I was still recording at this point :)

"Hey everybody, aloha, this is Frank Wildhorn, the composer of Death Note! I wanted to welcome you all to comic con and to this wonderful adventure that we are all on. For a few years ago [sic], when I was asked by my Japanese producers to do a musical of Death Note, I wasn't so into anime and the manga world, but my kids were, and my kids introduced me to the genre, and it's amazing - it's such great source material and of course it has the best fans in the world, you guys. I'm so happy and honored to have the chance to do this for you and i hope you enjoy the experience of comic con. Much love, aloha, arigato gozaimasu, ??? signing off."

They had planned to do a cosplay contest, but it was immediately evident that @seximexipapi (IG) should win:

It's odd that they "announced" this because the track list was previously released on WhatsOnStage.com at the same time the new album was announced; however the previous track list didn't have The Way It Ends on it so I'm glad they did. Not sure why Secrets and Lies and Stalemate were cut but I'm glad to finally be getting The Way Things Are in English.

as far as season premieres go, this one is... okay? i thought we were getting zombie apocalypse and i got weird boring daytime ghosts. bloody mary is THEE scariest episode of spn but man, spn forgot how to make stuff scary somewhere along the way because the ghosts in this episode just look... like cosplayers who got lost

but that being said the PATHOS in this episode gives me some good fucking food. the way that cas is SO very careful with jack's body. like. that's his KID. and he had to watch him die. and he couldn't do anything. and it was his dad that killed him. and this is cas losing the very last bit of his faith. and cas smiting things will never cease to be amazing. but we're concentrating on the SAD here.

cas' "well i wouldn't starve" is SO VERY BITCHY. and he has every right to be at this point.

dean is doing an AWFUL lot of hindsight declarations. first he always knew that jack would go bad and then he always knew that chuck would go bad. he is very conveniently rewriting his own history and it is a very interesting choice for him to make.

cas lifts that giant slab of stone above his head and all i can do is have a dean winchester "SO STRONG" moment. (so STRONG!)

cas having to watch a demon parade around wearing the corpse of his kid is... he is literally going through one of the worst experiences of his life. and sam and dean are pretty much completely ignoring it and telling him to suck it up and get over it. and then he's ORDERED to give up his blood. cas is no longer "always happy to bleed for the winchesters" and you know what? HE'S RIGHT!

this is why the divorce arc is SO necessary (in my opinion). cas has reached a point where he has NO autonomy with the winchesters. dean, and to an extent sam, are treating him like a soldier--like how john treated them. they're giving him orders and expecting him to obey them. cas has lost EVERYTHING--his son, his family, his faith--and sam and dean don't acknowledge his loss or his pain. they expect him to get over it and do his job--follow their orders. and that is why it is so VITAL that cas leave.

cas' pain being so much that he can't even stand to be in the car with dean and belphagor... he is HURTING! he is in TRAUMA! (and i guess everyone else is too but cas is the only one who is visibly showing it, other than dean making a "whoopsie" statement in the crypt)

good to know that cas doesn't need to touch people to heal them. he just does that for dean because dean is ✨special✨. and when it comes time to fix sam cas is like "ew yucky" and makes sure to keep a good five inches between his hand and sam's body

these broad daylight ghosts are stupid

though cas being pissy because sam shot him is fun. see, that's why cas doesn't touch you when he heals you, sam. all i can think about in this scene watching cas run is misha running on his shitty old man hips and his brand new shiny titanium hips

and then belphagor mocking cas over dean's treatment over him... dean not being able to keep himself from coming to cas but immediately forcing himself away... AH IT'S SO PAINFUL. i love it.

The Geeky Rom-Com of my Dreams!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of Mallory Casper's debut novel The Star Next Door. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Trixie is a cosplayer and a giant geek, stuck in a dead-end job while putting her creative dreams on hold to care for her family.

Marty is the geeky, hunky guy who she gets along amazingly with and who she maybe, just maybe is falling for. Oh, and did I mention he's playing her long-time favorite character in a new tv show adaptation of her all-time favorite book series?

The Star Next Door is full of lovable, relatable, down-to-earth characters who will feel familiar to anyone who's been in the fandom scene before. From Trixie's hatred of her day job, to Marty's realistically dark past, from the loving family who supports each other and isn't afraid to tell someone when they're being dumb, to the snarky non-binary best friend who will be the first to tell Trix when she's being dense, to the actors and big names brought to earth and rendered utterly human, all of these characters are treated with love and care by an author who is going to do great things.

This book is charming, witty, funny, and heartfelt from page one. It's a relatable story with a romance that puts it in the realm of the geekiest of wish fulfillment. The chemistry, romantic and otherwise, reads true to life for those of us who know the immediate click, skip-the-small-talk joy of meeting other geeks in the wild. The romance is at the fore but never once overpowers our lead's other connections. The plot and pacing are excellent. There's just enough tension, just enough conflict to keep you needing to know what's next, without ever feeling like you have to slog through too much bad to get back to the good part. The push and pull from our two leads as they figure out their feelings is incredibly well done, and the emotional payoff is well worth every moment you'll spend waiting to see when they'll finally notice the romantic tension and do something about it.

Mallory Casper has crafted an amazing debut novel here, and I can't wait to see what she does next.

First off Jellyfish mural outside

AHHH THIS IS GREAT!! ESPECIALLY THE MURAL!!!! It's so prettyyyy

Alright it's now the first edition of: Donut reviews aquariums! I'm not sure what aquarium this is but my over all impression is... it's very nice :) and well kept. The jellies look healthy and happy ^-^

Now for the bullets:

I'm still pretty hit-or-miss with my jellyfish identification but it looks like there's Atlantic and Pacific Sea nettles, and maaaybe Amakusa Jellyfish (or perhaps another morph of Atlantic sea nettle/Bay Nettle, I still have trouble differentiating between the species). Anyways this has to be the most diversity I've ever seen in sea nettles- most only carry one or two species :>

A little confused as to why the "Moon jellyfish" card is above a tank that's clearly for jellyfish that are... not moon jellyfish. What? ??? I was hoping to get some clarification ;~;;;

Also, the difference in stripes for what I'm guessing is an atlantic nettle is AMAZING. Some are thicker than others and this is a real treat for the eyes. Can't wait to see them for myself in real life, one day

AUGHH I LOVE UPSIDE DOWN JELLYFISH. When I saw them for the first time at the Ripley's Aquarium, I pretty much acted the same as I did when I first found an Emmet Cosplayer at a Con (which was uhm. trip over myself and fall onto the ground haha). Looks like this tank is getting plenty of light, though Ripley's Aquarium had an open space on the top (probably to control the temperature or something? Idk). The tank looks flat too, instead of round. Like a hole in the wall ^-^. I think its quite nice though, we should really get an upside down jelly cam one of these days, I'm tired of moon jellies and sea nettles

It might just be the lighting but there are not that many zooxanthellae tags on the jellies... I wonder why? Are these Cassiopea ornata? I typically don't see them with as many tags as I do with C. xamachana

You might notice there's a slight variation in tags too- some more "stringy" and the one on the front that actually look like "tags," haha.

For once the moon jelly exhibit isn't so flashy, haha :). I think it's quite refreshing (! Kind of weird how all the other jellies are put into circle kreisel tanks while the moon jellies are in a discrete rectangle kreisel tank. Haha.

Anyways yeah!! I give these jellyfish exhibits an 8/10. They're pretty solid and have fairly good diversity. They also did a good job of choosing pretty looking jellyfish. And most importantly, it looks like the jellies are in pretty good health ^-^!! Always a bonus :>

Supernova 2023 Day 2 Report!

I had the opportunity to go to Supernova 2023 at Adelaide where on Day 2, I spent some time walking around and buying many things!

It was a big convention filled with so many people and cosplayers from all sorts of media!

I went with my good friend Pie (@piedivide) who you will see throughout the report! Thank you for the fun weekend!

Day 2

This time, I wasn't in cosplay. It was nice not needing to worry about dressing up and making sure everything looks good. I could sleep in a bit more too!

Although I slept rather late that night admittingly because I spent a while recording many random Tiktoks that I've been publishing slowly lol

I wanted to record some videos while still in cosplay. This was the only time I had and so, through the sheer power of my will, I made like 30 random videos before my eyes had enough and I took my cosplay off.

Anyway, I headed back into the city and met up with Pie! We headed straight to the convention this time around.

Once we got there, we saw an amazing Dan Heng cosplayer! Pie was the one who spotted them sitting, and he gave a complement to them as we walked by.

It was strange that they were leaving already since it was only around 11:30am. The convention was just beginning.

But Pie did say it was fitting for Dan Heng to do so, go in and then leave once he got all the data he needed lol

Once we were there, they let us go through this special gate for people who already had wristbands. I felt like an VIP member haha

We beelined to the food stands again, since Pie was hungry and I could go for some food lol

We bought pretzels again, but this time I got this one with Nutella all over it, and Pie got a Cookies and Cream pretzel.

We had savory on Day 1, so Day 2 was sweet!

It was an absolute mess to eat it though, I had Nutella all over my hands and even it got on my glasses somehow???? I had to go straight to the bathroom after to wash off the sheer amounts of Nutella on my hands lol

It was good though.

We also got slushies, where mine was raspberry and Pie's was grape! It was pretty nice.

Although I did sort of regret buying it because my hands were so numb for the longest time and it stained my teeth and I couldn't even drink it all ;;

Pie's slushie looked like the Grimace Shake to which I informed him of that fact and I told him good luck lol

It was spending time!

We walked around at first, looking around at what Day 2 had to offer before going to the one artist stand I mentioned back in Day 1's report.

I first bought this beautiful Dan Heng IL print. That was all I wanted to buy initially, but then I saw a beautiful Navia print so I went back and bought that one too lol

Pie got Gojo Satoru, Neuvillette, and Ina prints! They're so cool!

We went back to the book stand we were at in Day 1 and we each got some more manga because yes. I got Komi Can't Communicate Volume 2 and Heart Gear Volume 1.

For Heart Gear, I picked it up and read through like half the book and then decided I would buy it since I liked it lol

Pie got Pokemon Adventures Volume 1, JJK Volume 0, and Hunter x Hunter Volume 11 and 12.

Manga.

After this, we did our tradition of buying each other exactly one print!

We went our separate ways and agreed on a spot to meet up afterwards.

I thought I was sure on which print I wanted to buy Pie, but I soon found I was very wrong lmao.

I walked around the Artist Alley, considering my choices until a beautiful Leafeon print caught my eye.

Pie earlier bought a Eeveelution pen blind box and got Leafeon, so I thought it was rather fitting!

I bought it without a second thought and headed back to our meetup spot. Pie wasn't there yet, so I walked a bit around the area so I wasn't standing there weirdly since I wasn't sure how long Pie was going to take.

I came back and there Pie was!

We sat down nearby and exchanged our prints! Pie got me this super cool Kureiji Ollie print that I absolutely love! So vibrant and colourful!

On Day 2, Nikola Ðuričko was having a Q&A session! He's a Serbian actor my mum really likes, and so I wanted to get a photo of him for her!

Just to prove he's real and we saw him lol

Originally, we thought the Q&A was at one the small stages the convention had set up.

So we sat down and waited, only to find out that the Q&A was not happening at the stage aha

There was a panel with these two writers instead who were talking about their book and various techniques surrounding writing, which was pretty interesting to me as a writer myself lol

We left after a bit, and looked around for this actor.

We found him at the end standing at his table interestingly, it didn't look like any Q&As were going on.

It was rather confusing, but I accepted it as it was.

At least we think we did find this actor, we weren't sure if it was him or not lol

I took a picture from afar anyway, if it wasn’t I could tell my mum it was him either way lol

We checked the photo after and compared the guy we took a picture of to the picture of the actor on the wall and it was actually him!

Yay! That was that done.

The last thing we did at the convention was buy a sword! Well, Pie bought a sword! The Lion's Roar we held from Day 1.

The person who sold the sword gave some nice advice about Genshin that I listened to rather interestingly lol

Apparently the Lion's Roar is pretty good for Xingqiu, but everyone uses the Sacrificial Sword.

And they were right actually, in the newest event for Genshin, the Xingqiu you can use in one of the trials has the Sacrificial Sword lmao

Although now I have to take down all my prints I currently have and rearrange everything to fit on my wall lol

With that, we were pretty much done with the convention.

We saw everything we wanted to see, and bought everything we wanted to have too. On Day 1, we decided that we weren’t going to stay the whole time.

In hindsight, we probably didn't have to go both days.

Once you sort of see everything, it gets sort of boring?

Like there's nothing else to do aside from walking around or playing any of the games, which all spots are usually taken.

But it was still worth going since we now had the rest of the day too!

After we left the convention, we headed back into the city!

We had some time to kill before the Karaoke place opened at 6pm, so we went to try Ramen! It was something we've always wanted to try, and we finally had our chance!

The place we were initially planning on going to was actually closed, which we didn't know until we got there lol

It was okay, since I saw another Ramen place back the way we came from! Problem solved.

It was a proper izakaya! It was my first time going to one, and it was very pretty inside.

Once we both sat down, we had to decide what we were going to get. It took us a while to decide since we're rather indecisive haha, I remember just staring at the menu going "uh...." lmao

We had to eat with chopsticks. I had war flashbacks to AVCon and the struggle I had with them lmao

But in the end, I got a signature tonkotsu, pork ramen!

Pie got a tori shoyu, chicken ramen!

We also got some really refreshing drinks that were really worth getting, a lemon and lime bitters and a peach ice tea!

With a side of Takoyaki too!

I wasn't initially going to have any drinks since I already had two bottles of water I should have really drink, but the izakaya had this meal deal where it's cheaper if you get a drink as well.

So I went for the peach ice tea, which was so good!

The ramen was so filling, I couldn't eat all of mine. It was good though! The Japanese eat good like wow.

There was so much noodle! I think I nearly choked at one point aha

But I did get better at using chopsticks at the end, so yay!

I couldn't even eat the Takoyaki aha

I had one and then me being me had my bowl taken away with my chopsticks so I couldn't even eat the rest of it (not that I wanted to anyway, too full from ramen).

I want to go again someday!

Since we still had time to kill, we went to the library and a bookstore, where we instantly beelined to the manga section lol

I was surprised I didn’t want to borrow any manga this time around.

We loitered around the entrance to the Karaoke place.

While we waited, we read Komi Can't Communicate Volume 2 together (or it was me reading and commenting on things and Pie trying to keep up with my reading speed lol).

Once 6pm came around, we were back in the building!

We were put in the same room we were in from Day 1 again actually, which was such a coincidence! We did two hours this time!

We both made a list of songs we wanted to do, so it made things a lot easier.

Of course, we did 光るなら to redeem ourselves from how rudely we were shut off on Day 1 lol

I did Sparks by Takanashi Kiara, Livin' La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin, Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone (I love this song to bits), Diamond City Lights by LazuLight from Nijisanji EN (I knew the chant section by heart, of course), and Five Nights at Freddy's by The Living Tombstone (har har har)!

Pie did Kick Back by Kenshi Yonezu, end of a life (Calliope Mori), and Unravel by TK and Kyoran Hey Kids by The Oral Cigarettes!

For some of the songs Pie did, I was vocal backup lol

It was loads of fun! I definitely felt more confident singing this time around.

My dad actually called me in the middle of Pie singing randomly lol

Our two hours was up rather quickly, and we headed back to the train station.

This ended our weekend on a high note!

All in all, I had so much fun!

I never thought I would have the chance to go to one convention, let alone two this year! Especially cosplay! (●´ω｀●)

All of these things were a sort of pipe dream for me until this year.

I kept saying I'll do it one day, but when was that day going to come?

Would I have to wait years?

I probably wouldn't even do it at that point.

All my other friends aren't as into anime and all this stuff like me. They know of it but they're not super crazy invested into it as I am.

I could ask them to, and they probably would go if I asked, yet I feel like they wouldn't enjoy as much as I would?

And so, I just never thought the day would come. I would watch others go but never go myself. A bit sad actually if I think about it lol

But I'm glad to say I did! I did manage to go to a convention! I did manage to cosplay!

I'm planning on cosplaying and going to more conventions! I have a whole list of characters I want to cosplay that I hope I can complete one day.

We have a lot of plans for next year, so keep an eye out hehe.

I'm going to go into study mode so I can do better makeup and wig styling! One day, I’ll be like those impressive cosplayers!
