[why-does-this-happen-to-me]

Ok, remember how I said that I had copied Kanto's map in rpg maker with pokemon essentials and let a random number generator choose the pokemon for the region? Well, I decided to modify the maps and I started with the cities. Initially, I just wanted to add grass to them so I could have encounters in them because the habitats of some of the pokemons is defined as urban and I don't want to have a lot of NPCs trading or selling them as the solution, but then I changed more things and I want to talk about it. I'll put a read more thing because I don't know how long this is going to be.

Pallet Town:

I didn't change a lot in this one, just added some grass in the lower left corner (and a streetlight, because it bothers me that there are none. How are people supposed to see at night? Flash seems like overkill in a city. This addition is present in every city).

Viridian City

I got rid of that random bit of forest in the middle of the city and put a park instead, because no city would actually build around those trees. I used something that I'm pretty sure is meant to be a small shrine or something similar as a beehive, because Cutieflies and Ribombees are too big for a normal sized one (the events can't be seen from this far, but the ones in the park are 2 cutiflies that fly around supervised by a shiny ribombee). I gave a trainer that talked about being a pokemon trainer a jigglypuff, because I think it's weird that most NPCs in cities don't have any. I also put the gym in a elevated area made of gray stone to give it a little bit of personality and to make the surroundings related to the ground type, which is why the rocks are there. I did something similar with Brock's, so I tried to keep them different enough.

Pewter City

I added grass to the left of the museum and dirt and breakable rocks to the right so those spaces have something going on in them. I added benches and rocks to the park. I moved the house on the left up so it's in the same line as the pokemon center and used that new space to put some dirt, a rock column and an NPC that tells you about how he got there from Cerulean with the bike next to him. The gym doesn't have trees and fences next to it, instead, it's in a platform of mountain rock, surrounded by pushable and breakable rocks and fossils. The rocks in the map are tiles right now, but I plan on changing that.

Cerulean City

I added some plants in front of the houses, got rid of the fences next to the river (except for the ones belonging to the houses), and added grass in the house's backyard. I deleted the house that was halfway into the forest and replaced it with the one where the rocket grunts steal the TM for dig. The grunt is now waiting in the right exit of the city. The gym is behind where that house used to be and semi-surrounded by water. There is a pond where the gym used to be. This is almost the last gym in which I edited the location/surroundings to match the type, as the others are more difficult.

Vermilion City

I didn't do a lot with this one. I made the old man's plot of land actually need work, as it now is full of grass and rocks, and the man has a breloom now. I added more sand to really show that this is a coastal city and I used part of some ruins sprites so it looks like there are sandcastles (I'm thinking about changing it and using the overworld sprites of sandygast and palossand). The path from the dock ends in the little roof thing instead of continuing just 2 tiles more for no reason. The shape of the south coast has been modified, I'm not sure about that change. The gym can now be accessed without cut, because, in-universe, it's a terrible idea to have your gym only be accessed via a move that you can only learn if a specific ship is in the city and you have tickets.

Lavender Town

The town is a lot bigger now, as it has ruins next to the tower. That's mostly because some pokemon's habitat specify that they appear near ruins, but I also want to make some dungeon or something inside. Right now it doesn't look great because there isn't a lot of variety, so I'll try to make some semi-decent sprites of random bricks on the floor or something like that. The ruins, of course, have a lot of rocks, dirt and grass around to help make them seem old and so you can find pokemon around them.

Celadon City

I moved back the northern buildings, as there was a lot of empty space there only for a hidden item that can be placed somewhere else. I also deleted the building to the left of the department store and, with some sprites made modifying some present in the tileset, created a parking for two trucks carrying boxes and two bikes. The new space around the fountain allowed for a park, but this one with most of it's floor covered in concrete. The park has benches and potted flowers. I made a patch of grass where the buildings next to the pokecenter used to be. I also deleted the fences around the body of water and the casino, as I don't understand why they are there. I moved the signs telling you to go visit the department store, as they were almost next to each other. The buildings around the gym are gone, as it's now surrounded by plants. I'm not fully convinced on how that looks.

Fuchsia City

I didn't know what to do with this one. I added grass to the backyard of the house and I modified the habitats so they are distinguishable. I deleted the building in front of the entrance because, unless the maps I used as reference are missing it, it doesn't have an interior. I have to add something there, because it feels too empty in-game.

Saffron City

I also didn't know what to do with this one. I moved some buildings, added a hidden truck between the trees, next to the gym and dojo, and deleted the buildings in front of Sylph Co. to make a park with some bikes, grass, flowers and benches. I also added spots of sand using the sand autotile (I can't remember if that one is default or one I made. I think it's the first one because the texture sounds like a lot of work for me, but I also know I've made others before to have to work less on the long run). This city has potential because of how big the map is, but I'm not sure how to use it.

Cinnabar Island

I had to make the island bigger so it could have anything else in it. The shape is random, so I hope it looks good. It has a little pseudo-park in the center, with a bench, a tree, bushes and grass. There are rocks scattered throughout the island and a lighthouse (at least I think that's what those tiles are). There is a boat near the lighthouse. The pokecenter is now next to the gym, in the north-east corner of the map. The burned mansion is in the same place, the lab has been moved down and the pokemart is in front of the pokecenter. I'm yet to work in making route 21 connect properly to the new map, and the new size of the route will probably mean new things to the south of Pallet town.

Also, I think none of them are visible, but I still feel like I need to add that the pokemon overworld sprites where made by someone else and can be found here. I'm not talented enough to make something like that.

xiao — main dancer. choreographs a lot of the dances if not all. very introverted in public but talkative in behind the scenes vlogs with his group. xiao stans have it hard because this man hardly posts anything. fans call him the dad of the group because he’s always sneaking food onto everyone’s plates and keeping them hydrated during practice. when you guys first debuted everyone thought he was mean and cold when really he’s just a quiet sweetheart. has a tattoo sleeve that the fans haven’t seen the entirety of yet, jungkook vibes in that sense. most expensive photocards after you, the one of him in cat ears and winking goes for hundreds. lumine — leader of the group and one of the only responsible ones. strict about keeping everyone on schedule and trying to appear presentable at music and award shows. tries to drag you all to the gym at five in the morning but to no avail. she vlogs her gym routine and whatever member she dragged that morning is usually seen in the back sitting on a yoga ball the entire time, talking as she runs miles on the treadmill. always setting trends for workout routines and makeup looks. once it touches her face it sells out. her twin is also an idol so they both do a lot of tiktoks and videos together. it siblings. [☀️]

fischl — one of the lyricists for the group. so chronically online. she’s always active at odd hours of the night and interacting with her fans. posts the most too, so fischl biases are always full with content. wears an eyepatch as part of her idol persona, and still manages to perform with it on. will do book club livestreams where she’ll talk about her current favorite book with her fans for two hours or more. lumine has to shut the live off everytime because she will just keep yapping. [🦉]

venti — writes most of the group's songs and runs production. most unserious member and should really attend a public image class because he does not know how to be a celebrity. fans are constantly finding vapes in the back of his photos and videos of him drunk at award shows. went viral once for showing up to a music show high off his mind but still managing to perform. will dye the ends of his hair different colors every comeback from his fan’s requests. loves to go live and sing covers for whatever people ask for. he does qnas and takes the tmis too seriously. [🌱]

yoimiya — visual and vocalist, will bring out her guitar during concerts a lot. the only member who will go to the gym with lumine. became an idol because she used to busk in her hometown and got picked up by your manager while she was on vacation. would be the type of idol to adore fancalls and do decorating photocards on livestreams. gets invited to a lot of variety shows and was probably a judge for a survival show at one point. [🧨]

windblume —one of the idol groups underneath sakura entertainment,  a six member mix gendered idol group known for their whimsical and indie comebacks every year. think of txt’s brand when it comes to your guys’ style of music. have been a group for about three years. members range from 21-22. their debut album Temptation got them to their popularity today. fandom name: bloomies

So, he got curious and went to the page that was tagged and only saw pictures of the gym leader wearing their mask

He requested to follow the account and went back to scrolling through Instagram while he waited

He checked his notifications the next day and saw that the account had followed him and accepted his follow request

As soon as he was ready, he checked out the profile

When he saw your face he was blushing immediately

While he was looking through the pictures he accidentally liked an older photo of you and he panicked and unliked it because he didn’t want to come off as a weirdo

So I found out in a Pokémon Masters OST comments section of all places that Atticus shows up as a special vendor in the auction market in Porto Marinada, and the things he sells are clothing items that are easter eggs from past games. The thing I find weird about it is that Atticus himself says that he "took inspiration" from clothing items to make replicas of them to sell. Which is fine except for the fact that there are some items he should have NO WAY OF KNOWING IT EXISTS.

So for funsies I'm ranking all of Atticus's auction items by how likely it is that he and the average Pokémon citizen would be aware of the existence of the things they're replicas of

Ball Guy Helmet: 10/10

Literally a famous sports mascot. Maybe if you weren't into battles you'd be unfamiliar with him but I bet if you typed Pokémon League Galar into PokéGoogle, he'd show up everywhere. There's merch of him too. Cursed, cursed merch. Plus, Penny is from Galar so she most likely told Atticus about the Ball Guy.

More obscure than the Ball Guy, but again. Penny is from Galar, she probably informed Atticus about it. Marnie is the Dark Type Gym Leader at this point. Penny knows about Marnie as much as Paldea trainers know about their Gym Leaders, especially if Atticus decided to look for any neat styles he could copy from them.

I fully blame Giacomo for this one. Had to Google Ryuki myself because I'm not familiar with his lore, but apparently he's a famous rock guitarist. Giacomo literally wrote the background music for Team Star, I bet he knows his musicians. I can 110% picture him running up to Atticus like "DUDE DUDE YOU GOTTA MAKE THIS"

i should probably post what i have for larrys backstory here huh shkffsd heres more or less what i have in my discord server (which u should Totally join if u want ✨️super secrect access✨️ to this kind of character development :3) (tw drug use, drug overdose, suicidal tendencies)

- larry came from a rich family. it was the classic overbearing parents, constant running of his life, no regard for what he wanted or how he was feeling

- the rough and tumble lifestyle was done to get back at them, something that kept escalating well through his teens and into his 20s until he was a well known figure in "that crowd"

- he'd be in jail every other week (to which is parents would always bail him out, not that he asked them to. it wasn't out of concern for his wellbeing either, they were more concerned about the families image)

- all this eventually reached a head in the form of Drugs

- what he had taken though, he couldn't tell you. he never knew anymore, just took what was handed to him and rode out whatever high it gave him

- he doesnt remember much about That Night, only that one minute he was with his 'friends' popping whatever at a party in some old warehouse, and the next he was waking up in the hospital after having overdosed on a cocktail of different drugs

- he doesnt know if it was because of what he initially took, or if he'd taken more after he'd blacked out, but either way he very well could have died if his 'friends' hadnt left him in the parking lot of the ER

- he wasn't alone in this, his older brother that he'd dragged along with him that night (the brother was worried, didnt want larry to go alone, felt like his brother was slipping away and was grasping at any way to relate to him, to get a foot in the door to bring him back to, not his 'old life' his parents wanted, but anything aside from this) had also taken just a bit too much of Whatever along with larry, only he hadnt made it.

- larry, of course, blames himself, hed told his brother to let loose, have fun only for it to end up in tragedy

- after that, larry turned his life around, but not really for the better, at least not for him. he did everything his parents said, feeling like he owed them for the death of his brother

- his dad got him a job at a well respected league office, and since his parents were only ever happy when he got a promotion or did well at the job, he just kept working his way up until he got to where he is now

- if you ask him what he likes to do for fun, he literally cant tell you, because he doesnt really know. his youth was a rebellion, and his adult life is a mask for his parents happiness. what he wants doesnt matter anymore, he took his brothers life away, so its only far that he gives up his own along with it

- he wasnt even supposed to Happen in the first place, his parents only had his brother because youre 'supposed to have a kid' at a certain point in life, and they also wanted someone to pass the Company(tm) down to

- larry was an 'oopsie' baby and thats how his parents talk about him. hes the kid they didnt mean to have but look at him now! all that aggravation was worth it because look how successful he is! he was an accident he was never meant to be so he better make something of himself now

about his gym battles:

- the reason larry hosts his gym battles inside (hes literally the Only leader that does that btw) is to give the illusion that the battle will be mundane, so mundane that no one there seems worried about the dangers of it while theyre eating

- it throws trainers off, making most of them not battle as hard because theyre afraid of hurting someone or something, which in turn gives larry an advantage

- the secret? it lies in the illusion itself, that being exactly what it is; during days where trainers challenge his gym (i imagine there are like, set days/times, at least for larrys gym, which adds to the whole 9 to 5 Thing and also ensures there to be multiple people challenging at once for the gym test to work smoothly) the restaurant has a mr mime put up their 'walls' around the arena area

- and the people in the arena itself arent actually There either, its yet another illusion that disappears when someone solves the test, which again throws people off trying to figure out how things changed so quickly

heres how he feels about his jobs and how they came to be in the first place

some misc facts:

- during those rebellious years, larry was in a band as both a guitar player and occasional vocals there are cds of this but good luck finding one :3c

- being a Rich Kid(tm) larry took many language classes growing up and knows at least conversational levels of the common languages in the pokemon world (IE any language i need him to speak lol)

- his nose his crooked from a past fight but its hard to tell unless you look at him head on

- he likes knitting/crocheting

- hes passivly suicidal

- from those Younger years he has 3 tattoos: a starly sitting on a branch on his right bicep with the branch actually being an old scar from one of his first fights. his brother had said it looked like a branch and that he should get a starly for it, so he did. this one is typically hidden by the sleeves of his shirt.

the second on his simple; 'live to die' is tatted on his left wrist though its normally covered by his watch

the third? a tramp stamp he got while absolutly shitfaced one night, its got the hearts and Everything

October 12th, 2024 – The day Pokémon fans lost their minds 😱

So, if you’ve been on the internet recently, you’ve probably heard about the Game Freak Pokémon GigaLeaks that dropped on October 12th, 2024. What started as a quiet leak in a private Discord server soon spiraled into chaos as details about Nintendo’s next-gen console, a mysterious 10th generation Pokémon game, and Pokémon Legends Z-A made their way onto X (formerly Twitter) and 4chan's /vp/ board. But that’s not even the crazy part—get ready for some wild revelations. 🤯

How It All Went Down 🧐

It all began with a post from X user @nintendeal, who quickly deleted it, but not before the leak hit 4chan’s /vp/ board. And once it was out there, it was like a tidal wave 🌊. Fans started digging into the leaks, and what they found was... 😬

On October 13, Game Freak confirmed the leak, revealing that over 2,000 pieces of confidential employee data had been stolen. They blamed the breach on a “third party,” but it was clear that this wasn’t just about games—it was about Pokémon history getting a little too much sunlight. 🌞

The Lore & The Memes 🌀

Okay, here’s where things get extra wild. The leaks revealed “creation myths” from the Pokémon universe that were definitely not safe for work. Some of the stories were about humans and Pokémon having, uh, intimate relations. 😳 Like, Typhlosion kidnapping a girl to have a human-Pokémon hybrid child. Yep, you read that right. Fans couldn’t help but roast the absurdity of it, with some joking that Game Freak’s games are rushed because they’re spending 30% of their time silencing the guy who keeps submitting these questionable ideas. 😂

But wait—there’s more. One of the most infamous leaks involved Octillery (the octopus Pokémon) having sexual relations with a human and—brace yourself—giving birth to a human-Pokémon hybrid. This quickly became the meme of the moment, with fans both horrified and cracking up at the pure absurdity of it all. 🤡

And then there’s Skyla—the Gen V Gym Leader—who became a meme after a post described her as a “C6 Flight ‘Sexy Pilot’” inspired by none other than Jennifer Lopez. Yeah, we’re still not over it. The internet had a field day with this one, making fan art and memes left and right. 🎨✨

Welcome to PokéOmens! Gym Leader 1: Azira Fell

I'm SUPER happy to start off this little Pokémon AU I created with my partner's help. Each gym leader and Pokémon team are crafted with inspiration from the show as well as some small head cannons we enjoyed or came up with. I'm only drawing 6 of the 18 gym leaders (you probably know which 6 I'm thinking of). If I have time, I'll draw a couple more, but keep in mind that there are 18 types and I'm very slow with my process. If someone would like to draw some of the leaders I don't get to, by all means do it. I'll post a list of all of the gym leaders and their teams after the I post the sixth leader.

Now that's out of the way, let's talk about Mr. Fell!

When I initially brought up the idea of this to my boyfriend, I IMMEDIATELY said that Aziraphale would be a fairy type trainer. If you were to glance at all of the fairy type Pokémon, the majority of them would give off "soft" energy. Not to mention, the fairy typing gives off an air of magic, which of course works with Mr. Fell.

Most days, he would be a humble book seller, but once a month, he performs his duty as a gym leader...well, after he gives his breath-taking performance with his wonderous team. His lovely outfit (which is of course based on his magician outfit in S2E4) was crafted by himself, yet the choice of making his suit purple (even though he wasn't a fan of the color) was from an old friend of his, thinking the purple would be a flattering color considering he made the vest and cape before having a single idea for the suit.

Meet Mr. Fell's lovely assistants!

Lucky the Sylveon - He was the first Pokémon Azira ever received. When he was found as an Eevee, his trainer noticed that he had a large tear on his right ear that didn't heal properly, so Azira tied a small bow to hopefully mend it. However, instead of later taking it off, the young Lucky kept it as a gift from his trainer, which inspired Azira to match with his Eevee when performing. He's often playful and brings most of whoever he is in contact with good luck (hence the name).

Harry the Azumarill - As the second oldest, Harry brings a slight maturity to the group...just kidding, she's just as rambunctious as Lucky with just a bit more bounce and sass. If you are wondering, Harry is short for Harriet (and wasn't short for Harold. Azira definitely noticed she was a girl when he first met her.)

Reginald the Gardevoir - For a creature called the Embrace Pokémon, he isn't exactly touchy-feely. Coming into the team as a Kirlia, Reginald was very to himself until he started performing in the magic shows. As corny as his trainer is, he does care for him...until Azira tries to saw him in half.

Pear the Alcremie - She isn't much of a performing Pokémon anymore. She used to when she was a Milcrey, but after she evolved, she kind of mellowed out and became a bit sluggish. Azira didn't mind though. He needed a 'biscuits and tea' kind of companion on slow days at the shop (which is every day).

Bo the Floette - Considered the youngest of the team, Bo brings an air of wonder and naivete to each performance. This petite Pokémon often gravitates to the tallest of the group as a mentor, much to his "displeasure".

Arthur the Klefki - 'A ball of panic' is an accurate description for this poor thing. His trainer doesn't remember how he came to be. Was he a gift? Did he catch him? Who knows. All Azira has to know is that his little buddy has his back and keeps him from straying his schedule...and remembers his keys.

The Great All Generation Nuzlocks Roundup

This is gonna be long and have multiple parts thanks to the image limit on posts. Each game will be headlined by their title in Bold Print so if you're only interested in certain games it'll be easy to filter through. These notes will also only be on the Successful Run of each game. I'll note how many times I wiped in each game, but largely won't mention those runs for sake of relative brevity.

All runs were performed with the following rules - Only One Encounter Per Route/Zone/Area/Cave [Unique Names Denote Separate Areas] No Duplicate Encounters No Using Items In Battle No In-Game Trades No Overleveling the next Gym Leader or Major Boss Purchased/Gift Pokemon Are Allowed (Though there is only one case where I use one) but count as your encounter for that Area. No Use Of 'Affection' Based Mechanics.

RED - Kanto is a genuine joy to Nuzlocke for a few reasons. It's quick to get going, most early game Pokemon are quite strong (Ratticate, Primeape, Nidoking/queen, and Fearow are all genuinely incredible encounters), and it has probably the most balanced set of starters overall with regards to choice. All three have viable reasonings to be picked in the context of a nuzlocke. I, personally, went with Bulbasaur because my primary goal was to Win The Game and not to flex.

Kanto's also great for developing basic skills for nuzlocking. Team building, knowing when to switch, resource/Power Point management, moveset scouting, etc. all go much farther than normal in Kanto thanks to the poor AI and generally weak enemy trainers.

My favorite thing about it, though, and what made it very fun and a great start is that unlike every other region you can 100% assure yourself VERY powerful encounters in the mid and late game, and I don't mean gift Pokemon. There's just so many routes where all the encounters are filler you're 100% going to have out of the way early (Ratata, pidgey, etc.) that it's a surefire thing that you WILL get a Doduo right outside Celadon, for instance. Extending this to the whole region, you can guarantee you get other extremely potent Pokemon like Slowbro, which I did.

My team in this one was a strong Water/Fire/Grass core and otherwise strong goodstufts that compliment one another well. The surprise of this run was definitely Arcanine. I remember as a kid really being underwhelmed with trying to raise a Growlithe and never really getting the hype behind Arcanine outside of a VGC setting. However, I realized as an adult that keeping it a Growlithe until level 50 for flamethrower is Stupid. I immediately evolved that sucker and taught it Dig, which has 100 base power in gen 1. Arcanine was able to coast off of Dig and Body Slam until we beat Blaine and got the Fire Blast TM. It can also learn Reflect in this gen! All in all a stellar team member whose absolutely massive stats right after obtaining at level 19 really let it shine!

I always forget just how absurd the level swing from even just Lorelei to Blue is though. Just an absolute cliff of increase. Thankfully, however, leveling up in Kanto is a non-issue, so I was able to keep pace even while abiding Hardcore Nuzlocke rules. Total Wipes - 0

CRYSTAL - My overall opinion on Johto really hasn't changed at all, lol. It's still suffers a lot from what I'll call 'Fake Nonlinearity'. Like, sure, you CAN go to a lot of places after beating Morty but like...why would you do anything but go Chuck->Jasmine->Pryce and their associated content? It's not like you can meaningfully get strong early since the entire region has a dearth of strong trainers and wild pokemon alike. It's simply not productive to do things outside of the obviously intended order, except perhaps in the context of a Nuzlocke and trying to get some encounters early.

What does give Nuzlocking this region a unique flavor is that the best pokemon in the game, Alakazam, is a 100% ensured encounter assuming you're willing to pass over the free Eevee from Bill, which you should be. For a mere 200 coins at the game corner, you can get an Abra which can immediately be taught all 3 elemental punches on the cheap and raised up. Johto Nuzlockes thus take the form more of building an ensemble cast to support your clear Main Character, rather than building a cohesive team. As a result, Steelix and Machamp greatly stood out for being so dramatically different from Alakazam that they could patch up his few deficiencies.

We faced a setback VERY late and lost our Tauros on Victory Road, leading to the emergency training of Golly the Politoed. He ended up doing almost nothing, but that's true for the entire team besides Pugilist, who swept the entire Elite 4 and Lance unassisted.

It was definitely a fun time and had a very unique flavor compared to other regions. What Johto offers it does offer uniquely, at least.

Total Wipes - 2 (Rival Fight in Azalea Town Gym Leader Morty)

EMERALD - I'm gonna be totally honest. I love Hoenn and I love Gen 3 but I had somehow never actually pushed all the way through Emerald before. I've beaten Sapphire and ORAS each several times, so there was some nice new stuff to me waiting. Emerald is the first game you can play that still feels 'Modern' even without the Phys/Special split. The gameplay design, routes, and everything else just feel much more well realized and iterated upon, which makes sense. Gen 2 was made to capitalize on the Pokemon Craze where Gen 3 was made with the idea of 'Oh, we have a long running thing on our hands.' They worked to impress!

That said, I don't have all that much to say! Emerald is a very Standard Pokemon game and I had a lot of fun with it. I did end up repeating a single pokemon on my endgame team, Gyarados, but most of the run was played without it. I simply blundered a good number of strong encounters away in the midgame and had to fall back on a Pokemon I knew would be strong and could help get me through the Elite 4 and Juan!

This team has a very funny Water/Fire/Grass/Water/Grass core and it's also the first game where I actually EV trained my team on purpose. Thanks to Gen 3's thoughtful encounter design, training up Sp. Attack, HP, Speed, and Defense are all trivial, which greatly helped out. Sunny Day on Ludicolo was specifically to counter Juan, and we NEEDED it too because we lost Gyarados to Drake and Juan got TWO FREEZES in that final battle, so I needed Ludicolo to put in extra work. All in all, this was definitely one of my weaker Final teams, but I partly blame that on my relative unfamiliarity with Emerald's mid and late game. I also simply was not using all the resources at my disposal, which would dramatically change starting with the next game. The big surprise was honestly Electrode, who was a pretty stellar and reliable teammate all through the late and endgame due to fast, strong thunderbolts and screens support.

This game had a nickname theme - Fruits.

Total Wipes - 1 (Gym Leader Brawly)

PLATINUM - If you've followed me long enough you know I've historically been very hard on Gen 4. I do not like Diamond/Pearl and have started and dropped Platinum many times. However, this run I had a genuine joy playing through. Really and truly, playing in this format with the momentum of three runs behind me energized me to see Sinnoh in a new light and I can truly appreciate the dramatic improvements Platinum makes to the region. Most importantly, I've made a new, lifelong friend.

Encountered as a Nosepass at level 14 in Mt.Coronet, Cao Cao was a true champion and help throughout the midgame and into the early late game. Stonewalling tons of trainers, enabling easy captures on lots of encounters, offering free and important switches at critical moments, and just generally being a reliable member of our core duo for most of the game with Rotom Fan...but we lost him at Iron Island in a completely optional double battle... (artist's rendition in the workbench room at my office)

To make matters worse, the teammate we went to Iron Island for, our Scyther so we could evolve her into Scizor, would also be lost shortly before the Elite 4, rendering his loss all the more painful! I knew, for him, we had to carry on and we had to win.

And win we did. My total unfamiliarity with Platinum past the first couple gyms had me doing much more planning and research out of game on upcoming trainers to help ensure a strong run. As a result we lost far less team members than in the past three runs. In particular I was really sweating the encounters with Barry, who is dramatically stronger than previous rivals. But really, we didn't have any noteworthy losses to him.

Platinum is certainly a challenging game in its back quarter but it also really squanders its otherwise quite excellent pacing in the first two thirds or so of the game. After the sixth gym the game gets really long in the tooth and I was just ready for it to be over by the end. Nonetheless, I did have quite a lot of fun and when I play Platinum again in the future I'll definitely do it as a more casual nuzlocke, for fun.

For the vast majority of this run I had a Rotom Fan, Probopass, and Scizor but they were all lost somewhat to VERY late and were replaced with the bottom row. While Whiscash and Porygon 2 stepped right up and were excellent performers, Bronzong was absolutely abysmal and did nothing but provide a single free switch against Cynthia. This run also came closest to dying, with only Crobat surviving the champion battle. (in my heart, however, any team that completes the game all get to go on and I have in fact transferred them into pokemon home, lol) Wuxuan the Crobat was basically my true starter. With me from before the first gym and all the way through to the end. A stellar pokemon. While this run endeared me to many Pokemon I hadn't used in game - or at all - before in Rapidash, Crobat, and Rotom Fan, above them all stands my new true friend, Probopass.

This run was downright cursed when it came to natures, too. Basically every single encounter had a nature that was negative on their most important stat. It was really frustrating, tbh!

This game has the second and final case of a team having a duplicate species of a previous team - Machamp This game has a nickname theme - Romance of the Three Kingdoms

List of my Ninjago Aus

I figured I should make a list of my Ninjago Aus that I can link to my pinned post since sometimes the Ninjago hyperfixation comes back. I'm only including aus that I still have interest in working on, so if an au isn't on the list, it's probably safe to assume that I don't have interest in working on that au (so you shouldn't send asks about it)

Bad Endings Au: An au based on evil versions of the ninja from different timelines, usually referred to as the BE!Ninja. Each ninja has their own origin story explaining their downfall before they all get transported into the main timeline where they team up to take out the normal versions of the ninja

Next Gen Au: Follows a timeline separate from Dragons Rising (since I made it way before that came out) that follows the future ninja, Shayla, (bruise kid and master of lightning) Tara, (other bruise kid and master of earth) Fallon, (oppo kid and master of ice) an Trixie (daughter of Pythor and my oc Asashi)

Purified Au: An au where instead of being destroyed at the end of Rebooted, the Overlord is just left in a weakened, child-like state with amnesia who the ninja find and decide to raise. The Overlord gets named Oliver by the ninja and it mainly follows Oliver as the ninja try to hide the truth from him, fearing that he'll revert to his evil self if he finds out who he truly is. (I ended up making full on timeline posts for this au which you can go look at here for S5-10 and here for S11-15)

Weresnake Au: An au where instead of being fully cured from the fangpyre venom, Jay instead becomes a 'weresnake', turning into a feral serpentine form when he gets too cold.

Anacondrai Curse Au: Initially taking place during the Tournament of Elements, Chen experiments on Cole to try and use an alternate spell which ends up 'cursing' Cole and making him appear partially like an anacondrai, and causing him to turn into a full anacondrai at random moments.

Fangdroid Au: An au where Zane gets bit by a fangpyre during Rise of the Snakes where he runs away and ends up teaming up with the serpentine after they manipulate him.

Dragonblood Au: An au where the elemental masters are knows as Dragonbloods and can turn into giant, rampaging dragons. This has caused people to fear them and hunt them down. The ninja form a team and fight against the dragon hunters, their main enemy being Garmadon and his army of dragon hunters. There's a lot to this one that I don't really have time to explain further, so if you really want to know more you can probably find more info about it on my blog.

Pokemon Au: Pretty self explanatory, it's Ninjago characters but in the world of Pokemon. Lloyd is the champion and the other ninja are gym leaders (alone with Pixal, Skylor and Morro to make it 8).

Black Knight Au: It's the plot of Sonic and the Black Knight but with Ninjago characters. Kai takes Sonic's role and get transported to this other world where he meets people who look like his friends but aren't quite the same. He also needs to learn how to become a knight in order to defeat the evil and corrupt King Arthur.

Storm Vessel Au: Taking place during the events of The Island, when Jay gets 'sacrificed', the storm energy around the island ends up corrupting him and turning him into a chaotic and destructive entity that is basically the embodiment of the storm. It's very similar to Nya turning into the ocean as it's basically Jay turning into his element. He occasionally has moments of clarity where he turns blue and is in control of himself, but for the most part he's chaotic and doesn't listen to reason.

Mirage Memory Au: The ninja find a strange artifact that creates a new fake reality where they all have fake memories and don't remember ever being ninja and they don't remember each other. The only one without fake memories is Lloyd and he has to try and get the ninja back together so they can get their memories back and fix their reality.

Scorched Au: An Au about Kai where he never unlocks his True Potential and gets left behind by the others at the volcano. Filled with his desire to be the Green Ninja and a need to prove his worth, Kai goes down a dark path to try and show that he is the Green Ninja. Basically a villain Kai au where he becomes another Morro.

Sky

Good friends with namjoon . Probably bond over all of the pressure they take on , sky as the heir to the throne , and joon as the leader . Would definitely go to joon for advice and words of comfort,  he would probably help sky learn how to deal with his emotions in healthy ways and not burn himself out . Would probably be super comfortable around jimin too , they're sparring buddies along with jungkook and tae . Bickers with jin , yet knows he always has his back . Jungkook and jin help bring out his inner child , he just goofs around with them .

Brandon

Gym buddies with jungkook and namjoon . Probably take shirtless pictures of each other so they can post thirst traps later . Namjoon and jin know that just as he is playful and flirtatious,  he is level headed and protective of his people at his core , that he is just as determined and intense as he is mischievious and unserious . Consistently reassure him that he can talk to them about anything . Loves teasing yoongi to try and get a rise out of him , never works because yoongi dotes on him just like he does with the maknae line .Him and hobi makes bracelets together for the specialists and the members . Loves being around hobi simply because of his energy , feels completely at ease with him . Loves how hobi isn't afraid of expression and is secure in his skin . Spars with jungkook, reassures him whenever he's upset about making mistakes , him , Helia , and the maknae line ride dragons together .

Riven

At first intrigued by yoongi's subtle yet domineering aura , quickly become best buddies . Yoongi understand riven's traumatic past , riven sees yoongi as someone who has truly fought to overcome all of their scars , sees him as someone like him . Makes him want to work on himself . Yoongi constantly tries to make riven not see himself as someone who is a burden to other people as a result of his past experiences , or like all of his issues will always weigh down on every relationship in his life . Helps riven learn how to communicate his feelings better with the people around him . Bickering . Chilling in the studio . Tae forces him into karaoke nights , riven ends up belting and losing his voice the next day .Him and jin are at each other's throats and jin makes him ramyeon right after they finish almost blowing each other up

Helia

Ever the poet , has complex discussions about literature and art pieces with namjoon for hours . Always looks for translations of their songs . Talks about his interpretations to joon and yoongi . Him and joon go on museum dates . Him and taehyung listen to their favorite jazz songs together. They have inside jokes that no one else knows about .often paint together . Teaches him tricks with his laser string glove , that taehyung often tries to use on the members and him . Is around jimin very often too because he just finds his presence very easy going . Asks for fashion advice from vmin and hobi before his dates with flora . Talks about his future and everything he's afraid of with jimin , while he patiently listens and gives out advice whenever needed .They Have discussions about the patriarchy with namjoon while they water their plants .

Timmy

The members think he's the coolest person ever even though he often thinks otherwise . Jungkook tries to get him to teach him how to hack into company intercoms just so he can blast the winx theme song . Is Timmy's hypeman . Talks to yoongi for hours about literally the most random shit in the world , because their stash of random useless ( is it though ? ) information is endless . They go from weinscoting to what is the purpose of my existance in the span of 2 minutes . Thinks jin is the funniest person in the world . Jin makes another dad joke while he is trying to recover from the first one , and timmy doesnt know what to do with himself . Jin teaches him how to cook , is impressed at how surprisingly good timmy is . They talk about their day over a glass of beer and chicken . Admires the fact that jin glosses over his emotions just to light up the room and make everyone laugh . Play video games together for hours , goes fishing with yoonjin and ends up vomiting on the way back because he got seasick.

Nabu

Him and namjoon are basically the same person but in different fonts . Consistently play fights with jungkook , gets nabu to throw him in the air just so he can do a backflip . Chaotic cuties . When they're around everyone is either laughing or yelling at them because they're about to blow something up . Jungkook takes nabu to get new tattoos , nabu teaches jungkook tricks he learnt on andros. Karaoke but its them just screaming the lyrics. Sometimes it's just nabu silently enjoying jungkook serenading him , showers him with praise after because he knows how much it means to jungkook . Can let their guard down with each other , exchanging advice whenever needed . Sibling dynamic . Constantly looking out for each other . Protective. Him and hobi take dance lessons together . Him jin and jungkook end up doing girl group choreographies together , brandon eventually joins in . Woodcarving with yoongi and helia .

I'm sleep deprived and hungry .This was rushed and very random , would love to make one with more detailed dynamics though .

Heyo whats up! The other day I stumbled across this post by @jazz-kitty which pitched a possible Swap AU for Pokemon Reborn, which this small comic in of itself inspired. so many ideas for more swaps for.

So after getting the go ahead from Jazz, I thought it could be fun to ramble about some more possible swaps for some of the other swaps for this au :3

Its a good bit so I'm gonna put it under a read more because I have many ideas that I am happy to explain!

Ok first off are the swaps already present in the original post by Jazz, which I will be using as a baseline for my ideas! The most notable swap is Cal and Blake Whitaker being the focus of the original comic, and already I think that is just. a really neat concept all things considered. Already both of their arcs would be very different, with Cal never going to Apophyll, likely still having a lot of that pent up frustration and anger issues, and Blake mellowing out a bit, but probably still being a bit of a jerk since he doesn't really give a shit about a lot of whats going on. If anything I'd still say that Blake probably still kicked Cal's ass when they first meet like in canon which makes Cal even more mad at him in swap au,

Next is Lin swapping with the protagonist. Honestly I'd still need to think about which protagonist would take canon Lin's place since I don't really have a definitive favorite among them, and I feel like they all would be pretty interesting to switch around. I just know that it'd probably end up being one of them.

Then last of the swaps shown in the comic is Bennett taking the place of Shelly. To be honest Bennett ending up more like an anxious bookworm might be better for him in the long run versus how he is base game. Don't get me wrong Bennett probably has one of my favorite arcs throughout main game and post game, but I'm doing a playthrough rn and I just got to Iollia valley and. C'mon man.

First off is a big swap between Julia and Florinia with Amaria and Titania respectively (as well as Fern and Hardy but I'll get to them in the next section). Julia taking the place of Amaria, with Amaria being in charge of the water treatment center/gym and Julia living with Florinia in the Fiore Mansion. Titania would be a teacher at the Onyx school in Florinia's stead, writing as a side hobby, while Florinia maybe works out in the field studying pokemon strategy in the wild to better understand them? Her gym being out in the desert would also fit with her theme of being a grass type sand team.

Next is Fern and Hardy swapping. Hardy loses his connection with Titania as she gets absorbed in her work at the school, falling more into his rock star persona, although he ends up more arrogant due to his fame around the school and city. Then there's Fern, who I'd say is probably more like he is post game? Definitely the kind of guy who'd make someone smile (although still probably a little misguided).

My next swap is a bit simpler being Cain and Aya, with Aya being the recurring rival and Cain being the poison type gym leader, Cain not being able to runaway while Aya does.

Another somewhat big swap is Solaris and Elias as well as Taka and Luna, with Elias being the founder of Team Meteor, Luna being the unwilling heir, Solaris is the third member of the elite four and Taka is on the run from his father, carrying the emerald brooch.

To round out the ideas I had for Team Meteor is Sirius and Connal. They both have connections to the Belroses and also they are both huge pieces of shit. Sorry to be blunt but its true.

Another swap that I think would be interesting is Noel and Anna with Eve and Lumi respectively. Honestly I don't really have much of an explanation I just think they would be interesting pairs to switch.

Y: Dark. I mean I like our cute concepts but some of my favorite performances are for our darker concepts.

Y: I just want me and my members to live happily and stay healthy.

Q: Carats have been getting creative with their concert signs. Are there any signs that stood out that you still remember?

Y: Honestly there are so many. We have a section in our concert before the encore where they pan into the audience and show their signs and I always sit and watch it as soon as I'm done changing. It's one of my favorite parts because we, unfortunately, can't see all of them.

D: if you try to change before Yexi she'll throw a fit because she hates missing it.

Q: What was the most difficult situation you faced during your debut?

Y: Being the only girl in our lineup definitely put a lot of pressure on me, I felt like I had to prove that I belonged in our group. There was a lot of doubt with the public, but eventually, I think I won people over with my hard work and charming personality.

M: Yexi brings a lot to the group that she hadn't had the chance to show in the beginning but now she's been able to show that not only can she perform but she can produce for Seventeen and others and even works with one of our members and our choreographer to make choreography for all of us.

T8: She's always worked really hard and I think she felt like she had the most to prove during our debut. Seventeen wouldn't be Seventeen without Yexi.

DK: In the beginning, she would stay after our official practice was over and would continue to practice even though she was still in school at the time.

D: We've always been proud of her.

Y: Awww guys, you're gonna make me cry!

Q: Which k-pop group would you want to see do the puppy interview next?

Y: Our other members for sure, I'm hoping I can talk one of them into letting me have one.

F-Zero racers but I give them a type to specialise in (yep, it’s another crossover post with Pokémon. Also surely I’ve done this already):

Deathborn - Dark. Is that even a question at this point?

Mighty Gazelle - Steel or Electric. That said, I do think he should have an Iron Hands on his team so yeah definitely Electric

Jody - whichever type has the most cat Pokémon. Normal feels right but given the Purrloin line, Incineroar and Meowscarada are all part Dark…

Robert - as tempted as I am to give him something like Grass, Fairy or Normal (he’s my favourite though I’m never giving him Normal), I think he has to be Fire because it means he gets Ninetales and Delphox, literally Golden Foxes. This post exists because I was thinking about Falcon as a Champion and Robert as an Elite Four member so he needs two more Fire-types I can’t think of (because somehow I’ve forgotten than Kalos is one of the only regions that does it like this (I vaguely remember Kanto in LGPE doing this too actually now that I think about it). I don’t like saying Kalos sucks or anything but you do gotta wonder what was going on in the heads of the people at Game Freak when they decided no Kalos Gym Leader has more than 3 Pokémon and no Kalos Elite Four member has more than 4 Pokémon) but for some reason Nickit (who is unevolved and pure Dark) comes to mind. He’s probably got a Flareon actually (possibly shiny because it’s closer to gold)

Baba - I’m tempted to give him an Iron Moth or a Miraidon (Iron Serpent) as a joke about his machine being called the Iron Tiger so probably either Fire, Poison, Electric or Dragon, all of which make some level of sense as Baba’s type speciality. If we wanna go with more tiger-like Pokémon… Incineroar???

Goroh - Steel because it’s where Pawniard, Bisharp and Kingambit are and I don’t want him to share a type speciality with another member of the Original Four. Water also comes to mind because of Samurott (yeah okay I’ll admit it, Samurott’s a samurai) and Greninja. Also Mantine. It’s a mantra ray not a stingray but I don’t think there are any real stingray Pokémon

Pico - Dark no question. Next!

Falcon - Flying. Also Electric because he represents the series and Electric is associated with speed (unless your name happens to be Iron Hands or Raging Bolt). Actually, so is Flying for some reason. Guess he’s undeniably a Flying trainer then!

Octoman - Water. Maybe Fighting for the Clobbopus line

Mr. EAD - idk probably Fairy but his Pokémon probably all have the Stellar Tera type

James - Dragon

Billy - Normal (no this has nothing to do with Rillaboom the Unrivaled, it’s because of Meowth)

Kate - Fairy because as far as I’m aware, that’s the type most associated with singing (maybe other than Normal. And Psychic). Her team probably consists of Primarina (probably with Liquid Voice), Jigglypuff, *looks up the move Sing to see what Pokémon can learn it* Scream Tail, *sees Lapras learns it by level up and remembers Lapras was one of the Pokémon in the Project Voltage artworks* Lapras, Cottonee (apparently it can learn Grass Whistle, which is basically Grass-type Sing) and… *is really tempted to go with Hatterene* Sylveon. I do wanna give her Toxtricity but I already decided her signature type is Fairy and Toxtricity is not part Fairy (she could have one with a Fairy Tera type though)

Zoda - You know for everyone else Mr Zero’s scared of I’m going with Dark. Zoda though I’m not so sure on. Electric and Poison both stand out as types that make sense for those who love to experiment (so he could have a Toxtricity. Cool)

Jack - Electric. His surname literally comes from the same word as Paldea’s Electric Gym city (yep, he’s definitely getting a Toxtricity)

Bio Rex - Dragon. He’s probably got half the Past Paradox Pokémon on his team (everyone saying the Future Paradox Pokémon are less original than the Past Paradox Pokémon okay tell me why all five of the Past Paradox Pokémon with higher base stat totals than the rest of them share the Dragon type while their Violet counterparts don’t share a type (well, the Neo Swords share Psychic but Miraidon wasn’t interested and that’s the only type Valiant didn’t get from its modern-day counterparts). Also the whole Past Paradox counterparts of Pokémon with two Paradox counterparts all being part Fighting while Treads got Ground/Steel, Moth got Fire/Poison and Miraidon got Electric/Dragon meaning none of their types are shared between them. Also until Wake and Fire existed the only Paradox Pokémon not to share either type with another Paradox Pokémon were Bundle and Moth (both of which seem to get featured heavily in merch - they both represented Future Flash alongside Valiant and they’re the two with those cool lights that are coming out in November. Damn I need those lights). And then there’s the animations)

The Skull - Ghost. Or Dark (probably got a Sableye)

Antonio - if Goroh has Steel, Antonio has Fire (or Fighting). If Goroh has Water, Antonio has Grass (or Electric)

Beastman - Fairy (it was the closest thing I could think of to something supereffective against Dragon without being Dragon itself)

A short introduction post about Me!

My names Alyx, I'm from the Whitnor region!

I'm an engineer at the moment but my true passion is battling and research.

I'm the away team captain for the poison type gym.

And I'm currently studying for my gym leader exam!

My specialty as a gym trainer is poison types but my non gym team is pretty diverse and I've left a few of them at Prof. Heather's lab for study. I wish I had the space for all the poison types in the world but alas, I live in a top floor apartment in downtown Queens Meadow.

I'll mostly be using this to discuss Pokémon I find interesting as well as some things about the Whitnor region!

A lot of pokemon you'll see me refer to casually are

Coconut: A Galar Slow King. My oldest partner and friend, I've had her since I was 5. She's super friendly and loves playing with Apollo and Artemis.

Apollo/Artemjs: Umbreon/Espeon. Apollo is one of the two sick Eevee I took in when I was in high-school. As you can probably tell his sister is Artemis, though I'm not sure they're actually related? They're besties though, I catch them sleeping next to one another at dawn and dusk. Artemis is much more inquisitive and gentle than Apollo while he's a bit brash and non chalant.
