Note: I missed ldr!Jungkook and MC which is based off this sorta imagine I did for them! So I cured it by writing a lil bit about them!! :)
“Hey Jungkook…”
The said man in question suddenly perked up from where he had been looking down, half his hair tied up and he was rubbing his eyes, he looked tired these days and sometimes you couldn’t help but feel bad. Long distance relationships weren’t always what they were cracked up to be and it wasn’t like you were intentionally looking for a ball and chain at the time...
But well, it was a long night, you were slightly drunk and in a long dry spell so you thought, what the hell? When you signed up for a sub/dom dating website. Again, your intentions weren’t to actually date someone, you were just slightly drunk and horny, and waking up the morning after your phone had been blown up by your now boyfriend. It was innocent at first, you both had a good laugh (to somewhat of your embarrassment) about the whole drunk thing and you were just curious to get to know him.
It was from there you had learned he lived halfway across the planet in South Korea and not only this but when you began exchanging photos he was by far the most beautiful man you had ever seen. One thing led to another and eventually you both decided to make it official.
You were used to this of course, you had never actually met him in person and sometimes you felt a little apprehensive to do so, you knew it would hurt Jungkook severely if he ever found out but still...sometimes it felt like you just didn’t know him as much as you wanted too.
Time zones were a literal hell, by the time you woke up he was getting ready to sleep and most the time texts weren’t sent until the next day, video calls were rare and usually had to wait until the weekend. It sucked.
Jungkook, if anything, had been trying to convince you to at least fly out to see him, he even offered to pay for your ticket as he was- ahem- apparently in the chain of business for a really well known exports corporation and was a supervisor so he lived very well off in comparison to yourself, who was still in college and buried in debt with little to no money left outside of the expenses of living.
But again, you were just...nervous...flying by yourself, to a country you had never been too, to meet a man you had never met...You knew realistically everything would be fine, Jungkook was exactly who he said he was, he wasn’t some criminal that was going to murder you and sell your body parts on the black market but…! You just wanted to be safe! To be careful even if that would never happen.
“Hm?” Jungkook hummed, it was a late saturday night for him but he always stayed up just for you, just to be able to talk to you, to see your face, even if you went hours not talking to one another while he worked and you studied. He told you he just enjoyed looking over at his monitor and seeing you.
Currently you had been curled up on your pillow scrolling on your phone and occasionally admiring your boyfriend’s side profile and strands of hair long hair that fell from his face, “Why did you learn English?”
Jungkook raised his brow a little before suddenly laughing causing you to shift a little in embarrassment feeling as though you had said something dumb, “Well,” He rasped a little, he had been brushing up on his english ever since you started dating but he was also a little self conscious of his accent despite you saying several times over how much you adored it, “English is mandatory to learn in school but I learned extensively due to my family traveling a lot for business and work. I once spent a whole year in New York when my father was employed overseas, that was actually how I became so fluent, classes are fine but experience always teaches best in my opinion....” Jungkook’s lips curled into a smile as he hummed once more, “Which means your studies in Korean would be easier if you visited…”
Flustered you rolled onto your back as you pressed your pillow against your face, “Jungkook…!” You whined wiggling in your best as you heard his laugh filter through the speaker, “I need you know I really need to stay and study for my finals, it makes up for over forty percent of my grade!”
“Not even for winter break?” Jungkook let his lips jut into a pout as he laid his chin against his hand, “Jagi I have a bed that’s way too big to sleep in all by myself, are you gonna make me downgrade?” He sighed dramatically as he fell back in his computer chair pulling his hair tie out as his hair fell at his cheeks as he began to fix it.
You ignored the heat immediately flushing between your legs at the deep rasp of his voice, “My mom’s expecting me to come home to visit for the holidays Koo…” You frowned as you peeped out from behind your pillow to find the massive pout on your boyfriend's face as he sunk in his seat.
“Sometimes I think you’re just embarrassed to tell people we’re in a relationship,” Jungkook mumbled as he sat up in his seat, running his fingers through his hair as he sulked, obviously trying not to let your rejection make him upset but even through a screen you could always read his moods, sometimes too easily.
“That is not true!” Your voice was immediately serious as you sat up, fixing your laptop as you set it in front of you, Jungkook was once more slouched in his seat, his hand resting on his cheek as he looked away from the screen, “That is not true Jungkook, I-...” You sighed, “I can’t just drop all my responsibilities here to visit you, you know this, you know hard I’ve been studying for finals and how much my family has been wanting to see me…”
Jungkook didn’t reply for a moment but you could’ve sworn you heard something akin to a scoff escape his lips, “But you still haven’t told your family...have you?”
“I haven’t had the chance…” You were immediately trying to defend your reasoning when deep down you felt bad that well...he was right...to a degree, but what were you supposed to tell you family? You met your boyfriend on an offshoot website based around sexual play and not only this but he lived half way around the world.
“You talk to your mom on the phone weekly Y/n,” The longer Jungkook looked away from the screen the more upset he was getting and you could tell and yet you felt so helpless, it wasn’t like you could just reach over and grab his face, or simply hug him and apologize. Once again, you found yourself at a loss of what to do or say.
It wasn’t that you wished you hadn’t met Jungkook, you’d never in your life change that night, but sometimes you wished things weren’t so complicated and that your fears wouldn’t get the best of you. And you did speak some truth, even if you weren’t nervous to meet Jungkook in person, it didn’t change the fact that you wouldn’t be able to go now with finals approaching and your family expecting you for the holidays.
“I’m just,” Jungkook inhaled sharply before letting out a sigh, “I just feel so frustrated sometimes, I want to be with you, not part time, half time, or only at night. I want to wake up with you in my arms every single day. And I can’t do that, hell I can’t even get a phone call during the week let alone a text at the same time of day if I’m lucky. We just had a work party where everyone brought their partners and I couldn’t bring mine because she lives in America.”
His upset was beginning to make you upset, it felt like your gut was being grinded and it wrenched in an unpleasant feeling as you spoke, “Look I’m sorry okay? I can’t help it that this is where I live, I understand you want to be with me, you don’t think I want the same thing?” You put your hand on your chest, trying to keep your voice level as you swallowed harshly, “But right now, I can’t help it Jungkook. The holidays just aren’t a good time right now…”
“Then what was the excuse during the end of the summer when you weren’t even in school and your parents didn’t want to see you?” Jungkook replied, his jaw clenched and hurt in his eyes as he questioned you, “Or was it still because you were sick in the middle of july?”
“I just met you!” You cried out now beginning to feel genuinely hurt at your boyfriend questioning the sincerity of your feelings, “I wasn’t going to fly out to Korea to meet someone I had only been talking to for three weeks! Jungkook this is-”
“I’m not embarrassed to be with you! God, that is literally the last thing on my mind right now! I’m embarrassed at the way we met, I’m embarrassed that I- I somehow have to explain to my family that my boyfriend lives in South Korea and that I’ve never met him and somehow explain to them that you aren’t some serial rapist or human trafficker out to sell my kidney! Because that’s exactly what I’m going to hear! And I’m sorry I just haven’t been ready to deal with that!” You couldn’t even stop the tears from flowing down your face as you pressed your hands to your eyes, “It’s easy for you to talk about us because you’re an adult who lives debt free by himself in his own apartment with your own secure job and you don’t have to answer or deal with anyone, even your own parents! That’s not how it is for me Jungkook.”
Your head was lowered as you tried to muffle your sobs that was the only thing that filled the loud silence that filtered the air, running your hands through your hair as you took a breath. You could hear a sigh on the other side before Jungkook spoke, “Y/n…”
“You know what,” You sniffled as you straightened up, “I’m not in the mood to talk anymore,”
“Y/n! No! Jagi listen-”
“No I’m done!” You argued back as you wiped your face with the sleeve of your hoody, “I don’t want to talk to you right now. Goodnight.” You clicked the end call button before closing down your laptop. Sitting now, staring at your distinct reflection on the black screen before bursting into a new set of tears.
Your phone’s ringtone was immediately set off as you sobbed, picking it up as you harshly punched the decline call button before it quickly popped back up on the screen only for you to press it even more vehemently. Your phone lit up several times being flooded with messages from Jungkook trying to convince you to talk to him but you immediately turned off your phone as you collapsed back against your bed, weeping against your pillow as you tried to ignore the pure hurt that filtered your veins despite it being justified.
God you shouldn’t have even said any of that to Jungkook! Really it was your fault you hadn’t seen him, you had made excuses all because you were just scared. He was probably going to break up with you now...Squeezing your pillow tight you closed your eyes as you muffled your sobs.
“Girl why are you staring at your phone?” Lisa sighed in exasperation, “Don’t tell me…Oh shit…” She sighed as she watched your eyes begin to pitfully water, “What was it this time?”
“I’m a horrible person be-because I can’t just fucking suck it up and tell my family about my boyfriend and- and I can’t just go visit him!” You were already wiping your eyes despite not even crying yet and you refused to ruin your mascara in a public store. The bookstore was quiet as ever and the barista who worked the cafe was still sorting magazines out on the rack not even paying attention to you both but still you had to keep up your ideals or else you’d be crying all the time.
“You are not a horrible person oh my god!” Lisa raised her brows before scoffing, she pointed a long acrylic nail at you as she spoke, “That boy needs to calm his hormones, you are strapped for the rest of the holidays. Y/n! Come on, seriously you need to draw some boundaries with him! Just be honest and it’s going to save you both a lot of trouble.”
You sunk in your seat as your lips began to tremble making Lisa sigh, “How many messages did he send this time?”
“Twenty four.” You mumbled.
“Jesus Christ.” Lisa groaned as she pressed her hand against her forehead, her bangs which had been melded together with hairspray not even moving an inch, “What even started this fight!?”
Lisa was not only your closest friend but most times she was also your voice of reason which you knew was most times right but still you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed as you twirled your straw that poked through the lid of your iced coffee, “Well it was innocent at first, I just asked him why he learned English when he was younger and it translated into him saying experience taught him best which meant going to Korea would help me with my own language studies.”
“Why can’t you just be honest with him!? Seriously! Y/n!” She gave you her premium disappointed look as you whined, kicking your feet as you covered your hands over your face knowing she was right, but!
“That would literally crush him!” You replied feeling defeated as you slumped in your seat once more, sighing as sadness filled you, “It feels like…” You poked your tongue into your cheek as you exhaled in frustration, “No matter how hard I try, I just always end up hurting him. Jungkook would be so hurt if he knew my main reason for not wanting to see him.”
Lisa raised her brows as she scoffed, “No he would not! If he’s so desperate to jump on your pussy he’ll come to America and not only meet you but he’ll be meeting me as well the first time. This relationship is a two way street Y/n-”
“He has a whole team he’s managing Lisa, he’s told me he’d visit if he could schedule the time off but-”
“All I hear is an excuse,” Lisa clacked her tongue, “Fair is fair, you’re just being cautious as anyone should be when they’re talking to someone over the internet,” She curved a brow before snorting as she sipped her drink, “Now listen, do I think he’s a kidnapper that’s gonna kill you? No. Do I think he’s a fuckboy that just really wants to smash you? Maybe, it’s your relationship. Do what you want but regardless of whether your reasoning is legit he should respect it regardless.”
You deflated as you sighed, scrolling through his messages where he had profusely apologized several times and went on to explain that he just really wanted to be with you and never meant to dismiss your feelings on the matter. You hadn’t replied yet which made you feel even worse but truthfully, you just really wanted to talk to see him tonight on a video call and talk things over.
“Anyways, it’s time to boss up bitch,” Lisa pulled out the three textbooks from her bag before dropping them on the table as she offered a smile, “We got finals to prep for, we’re in the two week countdown so we need to cram as much as possible.”
Sighing you glanced down at your phone one last time before turning it off knowing the temptation to look over Jungkook’s messages would be too tempting. Putting your phone away you pulled out your notebook along with your own textbooks as you nodded, “You’re right, it’ll at least take my mind off of it…”
You could only hope.
You had spent the last ten minutes trying to gas yourself up, Jungkook had stopped texting around lunch time having obviously given up and giving you space as this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened and he knew if he just gave you time you’d eventually reach out to him.
Like right now, except you felt severely embarrassed for your actions this morning and you knew you could have handled things in a better and more mature way then you had, regardless you were struggling to even send a text at the moment let alone video call him...Checking the clock on your phone you sighed, it was already 1pm in Seoul....
Jungkook if anything was probably on his computer sulking while playing video games as he usually did on his weekends off when he wasn’t talking to you. Sucking in a breath you knew you needed to talk to him now because if you didn’t you’d have to go the whole week with stale texts that never went over well and you weren’t working with much to begin with, you didn’t want to make it worse. Sighing, you sat down on your bed as you began to type.
[10:25]
‘I’m sorry I haven’t replied to any of your messages :( can you video right now?’
You chewed on your lip anxiety immediately spiking in your head as you wondered if you came across too much like a victim...Or maybe you should’ve just not mentioned the not replying to his messages and just asked if-
You nearly jumped out of your skin at the sound of the skype call sounding with Jungkook’s name under it, grabbing your chest you collapsed onto the bed as you made yourself comfortable, shying away from the camera as you grabbed your pillow in insecurity before accepting the call.
“I really am sorry Jagi,” You couldn’t even open your mouth before Jungkook’s worried expression showed up on your laptop, the hoodie covering his head and just as you expected his puppy like eyes were glossed and filled with sadness, “I- I didn’t realize how much stress you were under and I shouldn’t have been so careless. This is the only time during the week that I get to see you and I really don’t want to argue…”
You curled up against your pillow as you mumbled, “I should be the one apologizing, I know how much it means to you for us to be able to see each other in person and I need to make the time for us to be able to do that it’s just…” You had meant to tell him the truth but- “I just have a lot going on right now but I didn’t mean to take that out on you, I know you just want us to be together...”
“Oh jagiya,” Jungkook sighed, longing filled his face and his fingers twitched a little as they ran through his hair as if wishing he could just hold you close to him, “It’s okay, I’m just glad you wanted to talk. I didn’t want the whole week to drag by without being able to talk to you, you know you always make my day better…”
And just like that your chest blossomed with warmth as you curled up, hiding the smile that began to creep on your lips as you squeezed your pillow, “Not as much as you make my day. Especially when you send those tease pictures for me right before I need to go to bed.” You would never get enough of that addictive feeling of talking to Jungkook, his smile was always infectious.
And just like that you watch, just like every other time, in amazement at the way Jungkook’s personality switches like a light, the innocent sweet smile that was once on his lips is suddenly twisted into a cocky smirk and he leans back his chair, his long hair is slightly messy but just enough to make him look truly wicked, “Oh? Is that right gongjunim? I thought you’d appreciate it?”
Said photo in question was sent thursday night when you were prepping for bed and Jungkook had very obviously just gotten out of the shower in the mirror selfie he had sent that displayed the chiseled abdomen and broad chest and not to mention the….ahem package he was sporting beneath the thin towel that he had purposely clutched with his free hand.
Yeah...that nearly destroyed your right hand.
“Well I did…” You immediately coiled up, no matter how many times this happens with your boyfriend- which is nearly every weekend, you always end up getting shy despite your thighs furiously pressing together and wetness building up in your panties, “Maybe a little too much…”
Jungkook pressed his tongue into his cheek as his smirk widened, just his stare made you press your face into the pillow as you heard his chuckle, “What? What did you do?”
The fact that he skipped to the golden question made you whine as you kicked your feet, you could hear another laugh from him as you curled up once more, “You know…” You mumbled, feeling your face burn as you pressed it against the pillow.
“No baby I don’t.” Jungkook pouted but his voice rasped and something about saying baby in english with that accent of his had your fingers twitching as he puffed a breath of air in cockiness as he hummed, “Why don’t you tell me hm?”
Shifting against the bed you shook your head, “You know what I’m talking about…”
“Do I?” Jungkook challenged as he raised a brow, his beginning to clench as he slipped into his dominant headspace, tucking his tongue into his cheek as he asked, “If you can’t use your words would you rather show me? Be a good girl and show me, yeah?”
Your words were muffled as you replied, “I had help…” Your face felt like it was practically on fire as you rubbed your legs together as you heard him laugh, “Then be a good girl and go get it jagiya, I’ll still be here.” You gave Jungkook a good laugh as you nearly scrambled out of bed to get your bullet vibrator off it’s charger before diving back on the bed making your laptop bounce as you sat up right.
Jungkook meanwhile had pulled off his sweatshirt and repositioned his camera to expose his lower body, the familiar sight of his plump cherry lips exposed in that forever tainted smirk as he made himself comfortable in his chair, his thighs spreading apart and the indent in his sweats showing off proudly, “Good girl kitty, now I want you to take off your clothes, all of it.”
You wiggled in your comfy sweatshirt feeling a little shy as you began to shed your clothes, “The bra too baby,” Jungkook coaxed as he licked his lips, his cock tightening and becoming harder at the sight of your flustered, shy expression as you unhooked your bra, there was nothing more this man wanted then to suckle on your nipples that immediately hardened against the chilled air of the room.
Jungkook’s hand found its way to his bulge as he palmed himself through his grey sweats, “Panties too baby, I know you’re shy but you need to be a good girl and take them off. And remember your words.” He added with a low growl.
“...Yes sir.” You mumbled, feeling chilly and exposed to nothing more then the camera on your laptop and Jungkook of course before you pulled off the panties you wore, arousal sticking to the fabric that stringed before you tossed them aside, your eyes unable to stay off his hand that kept stroking his bulge.
“Good girl,” His lips twitched into a sadistic smile, “Now spread your legs jagiya and show me what you did to that photo I sent you, every little detail baby.” You whined as you looked away from the camera, “Jagiya…” Jungkook’s voice deepened a little in warning, “Are you gonna make me get out the controller?”
Outwardly you’d completely deny that but inwardly....The idea nearly had you frothing out the mouth, but reluctantly you did as he asked, the chilled air nipping at your exposed warm wet folds had your levels of arousal that much higher and you could hear a soft verbal moan from Jungkook as he squeezed his hand over his cock, “Shibal,” He muttered a few other words in korean that you could only half make out before he spoke once more, “You’re so fucking wet baby. Play with yourself, don’t make me wait.”
Tenderly you slipped your hand between your thighs, flinching a little at the cold that seeped from your fingers that met in opposition to the heat radiating off your cunt, arousal met your fingertips as you dragged them up you slit before rubbing slow circles around your clit, your lips parting a little at the idea of it being his fingers doing this to you.
Jungkook let out a little scoffed laugh, licking his lips as he pulled down his sweats just enough to free his throbbing cock, a sight you’d never fully get used too and had your mouth watering at just the sight. He was much thicker then he was long but he certainly wasn’t short, the vein on the underside of his cock displayed and you could even see his tip beginning to weep as it became red, “How bad do you wish those were my fingers playing with that little clit baby? Put those fingers inside your cunt baby, lay back and use your toy to make yourself feel good for me.
Situating your laptop before you laidback, opening your legs once more as you began to transition to your subspace as you closed your eyes, imagining his fingers dragging up your inner thighs.
Letting your eyes open you whined at the sight of lube slipping from his cock as his hand slowly pumped his shaft, his lips parted at the sight of one finger slipping inside your cunt before pulling out and adding a second finger. You could just imagine those long thick fingers filling you up while fitting up against your g-spot.
Fumbling with your vibrator you turned it on, switching the setting to a low pattern before carefully placing it on your aching bud. You had anticipated your reaction just as you did everytime and yet every time you still jolted, your walls tightly squeezing around your fingers as a whined squeak escaped your lips.
“Fuck princess that’s it,” Jungkook edged you on, his tongue in his cheek as his hand squeezed around his cock before he used his free hand to grab his own toy, the fleshlight that nearly always turned you into a mess, “Bet that little hole can hardly fit your own fingers let alone my big fat cock, right baby? Yeah?”
Your thighs were twitching as pleasure was rapidly buzzing against your clit and your walls kept squeezing around your fingers as you desperately tried to reach to your g-spot in need for an orgarsm to make up for all the anxiety and stress you had been under the whole day, “Yes! Yes sir! Ah- Mmph need you! Fuck, please! Sir.” You whimpered as your hips jolted to fuck back against your fingers.
Jungkook pushes the opening of the flashlight over his tip as he let out a soft moan, his hips fluidly began thrusting to the point your walls were so tight you could hardly move your fingers just at the idea of his cock forcing its way inside you, you just knew this mans stroke game was good and proved it every fucking time he took out that toy.
Watching his cock disappear with every thrust inside his toy as his lips parted a little wider this time, “You want this baby? You wish this was your pussy I’m fucking nice and deep?”
Your body was too excited for all of his dirty talk as you squirmed shifting the buzzing vibrator to the sweet spot of your clit as you squeaked, trying to keep yourself from being too loud as your roommate was home, “Want it! Want it so fucking bad! Please sir! Sir!”
You were embarrassingly horny and this made worked you up every single time, your hips we’re stumbled and your walls were rapidly clenching in excitement as his thick cock rocking it’s way in and out of the toy that you could just imagine was your pussy he was fucking nice and slow, making you feel his nice fat cock with every killer slow thrust.
“Oh Jagiya,” Jungkook moaned out, “Don’t tell me my kitten is already close?” He chuckled as he watched the way your body withered the way it always did when you were close, his eyes feasting on the way your pussy was stretched so delicately against your small fingers and the way your thighs clenched and your feet kicked, “Do you need to cum so soon?”
“Please! Please! Sir! I- I don’t think I can-“ Your thighs clamped together as your lips fell open, unable to even wait for his blessing as your orgasm ripped through your body, your toes curling as little whimpers escaped you, you could hear a long moan from Jungkook as you liddedly watched his hips stumble against his flesh light, hand running through his hair while he fumbled something in Korean.
“Baby fuuck,” Jungkook’s voice lowered as he moaned, “Cum again princess, cum for me baby I wanna hear you make those noises again for me. Keep those little fingers stuffed inside yourself.” Jungkook’s hips kept stuttering against his toy, his cock throbbing desperate as his moans became breathy at the sight of you obeying him. You were always such a good girl.
Your fingers were aching but your desire to watch him come undone was even greater as you began pushing your fingers back against your g-spot once more, feathery whines escaping you at the feeling of pain beginning to mix with pleasure at the consistent thrum of the vibrator against your clit.
“Ah! S-sir…!” You whimpered quietly as your walls suddenly clamped around your fingers once more, “I- ah! I don’t think I can…!”
“Yes you can,” Jungkook growled his hips bucking up into his toys faster his cock throbbing and squeezing in pleasure at the sight of your arousal slipping from your soaked cunt and the sight of your tits bouncing at the way your body kept squirming, he could only imagine what it would be like fucking you tied up and left to his mercy, “And you will,” He snapped with command, “You’re gonna be a good girl and cum for me again princess. I wasn’t fucking asking.”
Your legs immediately twitched and your breath hitched as you cried out, your back arching at the way your body listened to him so easily on command, your walls tightening around your fingers rapidly and pleasure seered into your clit as the orgasm roughly filled your body, “Ah Jungkook! Fuck, fuck, fuck…! Fuck! Ooh!” Moans escaped you louder then you intended as your hips desperately fucked into your fingers to ride the powerful orgasm you experienced.
Jungkook moaned softly as his hips bucked one last time into his toy before cum was filling it up at the idea of milking all of himself in your little warm cunt, letting his hips swivel as he milked every last drop of cum from his cock as he moaned before relaxing back in his chair.
Chuckling a little at watching your lower body scramble at your vibrator continuing to drill against your over stimulated clit as you struggled to turn it off, “Take your fingers out baby, I wanna see them.” Jungkook licked his lips as you obeyed him, pulling your fingers from your cunt to reveal the thick layer of arousal and cum on them nearly making Jungkook’s mouth water with the desire to lick every drop off your fingers, this man couldn’t even describe what he’d do to go down on you.
“Ah fuck, jagiya,” Jungkook laughed, a little flustered at the way you sat up, looking directly into the camera before putting your fingers in your mouth, licking off the salty and somewhat musky taste of your arousal which in your opinion wasn’t that great and Jungkook would never accept your opinion on the matter, “You’re gonna make me hard all over again.” He whined as he carefully pulled the toy off his cock, feeling the white substance already rolling down his softening shaft to reveal the mess he had made.
You giggled a little, feeling shy once more as you stood up with wobbling legs, “I don’t have to help with that.” You called out, grabbing your favorite sweatshirt to pull over your body. It was your favorite because...Well because Jungkook had sent it to you and because it was big on him it was massive on you.
You absolutely adored it, coming back in view you collapsed onto your bed as you curled up, Jungkook had just finished cleaning himself up, fixing his camera for you to see the beautiful radiant smile and eyes light up that was your boyfriend. He always had that dreamy look in his eyes while looking at you everytime you finished having Skype sex and everytime it always made you shy as you grabbed your pillow and curled up.
“You’re always so fucking good baby,” He groaned as he ran a hand through his hair, his smile permanently on his face as he stared in adoration at your curled up figure that was practically buried in his sweatshirt, “Mmm you were such a good girl too, your eyes were rolling to the back of your head when I told you to cum again.”
He had a boyish laugh at the way you curled up, “Stoop! You know I was already overstimulated, you better hope my roommate didn’t hear anything…!” You covered your face in embarrassment at the realization you were a little loud.
Jungkook’s face stiffened a little at the mention of your roommate before he tried to play it off with a small laugh, “Yeah well, what’s he gonna do about it anyways? You were just being my good little girl jagiya.” You covered your face in semi embarrassment. You knew Jungkook was redirecting the conversation back to verbal aftercare because you knew he didn’t like the fact that your roommate was a guy who was not only your age but also very attractive.
It wasn’t like Taehyung was ever interested in you, but you had mentioned to Jungkook when you first started talking that you used to have a crush on him. You felt as though some days that still lingered in Jungkook’s mind despite the fact that you didn’t even look at Taehyung twice anymore.
Especially since you and Jungkook became an item, however you also hadn’t told Jungkook that Taehyung had been...Well you weren’t sure what he was doing to be honest outside a few innuendos and winks. It mainly weirded you out as he had never paid any attention to you but regardless. This wasn’t about your roommate, this was about your amazing, handsome boyfriend who somehow managed to make you cum twice just by the sound of his voice, not everything could do that.
“You make it difficult to try and disobey.” You mumbled as a smile tugged in your lips, closing your eyes at the idea of his arms wrapped tight around you and his forehead pressed against your own, you could almost feel his warm breath against your face and his lips pressing against your forehead.
“Mmm id like to see you try,” Jungkook laughed as he leaned back his seat, letting out a content sigh as he spoke, “I’d make you wear those vibrating panties the whole day after making you overestimate yourself and I’d make sure to wake up every hour just to hold that button for three minutes straight.”
“You’re so mean!” You whines as you fluttered your feet before crawling under your covers as you yawned, “You’re already planning a punishment when I haven’t even done anything wrong.”
“I’m not!” Jungkook laughed as he objected, moving his hair from his face, “I’m just telling you what would’ve happened if you weren’t obedient. I mean, that’s not always a bad thing baby.” He sent a wink your way that immediately made your cheeks warm as you pressed your face against the blanket with a giggle.
“I can’t do that over a video call…! Maybe if you were here in my bed I’d be a little more defiant.” You always had a hard time trying to flirt confidently but Jungkook always ate it up every single time you threw him a crumb.
“Jagiya if you can’t be defiant over a call what makes you think you’d manage it when I’m between your legs sucking the soul out of your pussy?” Jungkook was immediately cackling at the way you shoved your face into your pillow with a whine, “Exactly baby, you can’t even look at me right now.” He cooed out.
“Well maybe I’m just a little more bold in person.” You challenged, peeping out from behind your pillow making Jungkook chuckle as he shook his head, his eyes filled with adoration as he leaned back in his seat.
“Well sweetheart I’ll just have to see for myself one day huh?” Jungkook’s smile was so beautiful, it was arguably one of your favorite features as he spoke, “You know I love you to the moon and back jagiya.”
“Well I love you love you to the stars and beyond,” You whispered back as you hugged your pillow close, closing your eyes sleepily as you smiled….One day...Hopefully you’d overcome your anxiety soon to make the one day become soon, you weren’t sure how much longer you could stand being apart from the one person who would never stop making your day.

Frank parked his truck in the space next to Fliss’ jeep and hopped out, making his way over the lawn to his apartment. That had been an awkward job, really awkward job if he was honest. It had taken him a lot longer than anticipated to locate the problem in the fuel pump, and at one point he was expecting to have to roll it over and finish in the morning which he really hadn’t wanted to do, as Saturdays were the one morning of the week he was able to lie in, uninterrupted and the thought of having to drag himself away from that pissed him right off. Thankfully, Bill had come to his rescue and collected Mary from school, dropping her with Fliss at the yard, something he knew Mary loved and Fliss seemed to enjoy too and it had given him the extra couple of hours he needed to finish up.
As a result whilst he was now tired, dirty, covered in grease and ready for a beer, he could relax that evening knowing he didn’t have to haul his ass out of bed at six am. He’d be able to at least sleep until Fliss’ alarm went off at eight. Mind you, even then he tended to go back to bed after they’d had breakfast, or nap on the couch until about fifteen minutes before Mary was due home. After all, he didn’t have horses to muck out and ride.
Fuck that.
As he traipsed up the steps to his apartment he could hear the sounds of Last Christmas by Wham playing and he cursed. “Fuck!” With a groan he pulled out his phone and opened up the group message, rolling his eyes in annoyance. He typed a single word “Whamageddon” and hit send. This was a game he and the boys played every year. It was a contest to see who could go the longest time over the holiday period without hearing that infernal fucking song. The rules were simple, you weren’t allowed to be a dick by tricking each other and sending messages, videos or emails containing it, and it had to be the original version, so covers, remixes and people singing it didn’t count. It also relied on all of them being honest enough to own up, but they were the Circle Of Truth after all. So far it had claimed Simon and Greg, leaving him and Jake in the running…and now he’d just lost meaning Jake won the forty-dollar pot. Mind you, the last 2 years they’d played it said forty-bucks had been used to purchase drinks on their night out so it wasn’t like he’d actually lost anything, just the satisfaction of beating Jake. But the fact he’d lost that was annoying in itself.
Fuck you George Michael.
Shoving his phone back into the pocket of his dirty jeans with an annoyed growl, Frank yanked the door open and instantly was hit with the sweet notes of nutmeg and ginger as something baked in the oven and the loud sounds of giggling and singing from the lounge. He passed through the small kitchen and paused in the doorway as he saw Mary on the couch, bouncing up and down, her hands in Fliss’ as his girlfriend danced in front of Mary, twirling round, Thor bouncing along with her occasionally issuing the odd, excited bark. Fliss’ wore a headband upon which a pair of reindeer antlers were fixed whilst on Mary’s head sat a Santa hat which was adorned with light up stars. The irritation of losing instantly left Franky’s system as he could do noth8ing but smile as he watched the pair of them dancing like idiots before Mary glanced up and saw him and gave him a grin. Fliss turned and smiled, waving him over. He shook his head, gesturing to the fact he was filthy but she simply grinned even more, and bent her finger at him, arching an eyebrow. The fact she seemed to get turned on by him being covered in grease greatly amused Frank and he simply met her down right filthy look with one of his own before she pouted at him as he was refusing to play. As usual when she fixed those eyes on him, he simply rolled his own and gave in, striding over the room where he dropped a kiss to her lips as Mary plonked the hat she had been wearing on his head just as the song ended.
“You just lost me a bet.” Frank looked at Fliss, then Mary. They both frowned at one another before Fliss gave a groan.
“Whamageddon?”
“Whamageddon.” He confirmed.
“Sorry!” she winced, shrugging as he returned Mary’s hat to her head, pulling it down over her eyes “We made sugar cookies though if that’s any consolation?"
“You’ve been busy.” Frank smiled and Mary nodded, pushing the hat up so she could see.
“We’re gonna decorate them tomorrow afternoon before we got to V and Bills.”
“Who’s we?” Frank arched an eyebrow.
“Me and you” Mary shrugged.
“That so?”
“Yup.” Mary nodded “We got ready made tubes of icing and stuff so even you can’t mess it up.”
Fliss laughed at the affronted look on Frank’s face as he narrowed his eyes at Mary before he reached out and grabbed her causing her to shriek as he tickled her sides.
Mary giggled, her protests becoming louder and lounder as did her laughter until, after one particular loud shriek Frank gave a yell and jumped, looking down at Thor who was stood behind him, his head cocked to one side, tail wagging furiously as he issued a loud bark.
“He just bit my ass!”
Fliss laughed even harder “he’s only playing. If he meant to bite you properly, you’d know about it. He’s never bitten anyone properly in his life.”
“Ha, he’s my bodyguard!” Mary straightened her hat once more before she hopped off the couch “Are you taking me to Roberta’s now?”
“Damned straight I am.” He mumbled, shooting the dog another glare before he turned back to her “You got your stuff?”
“Yup.”
“Okay come on. What do you say?” he nodded towards Fliss who rolled her eyes.
“Thanks for watching me and baking and stuff!” she wrapped her arms around Fliss’ waist and Fliss smiled, bending over to give her a hug. “Night Lissy.”
“You’re welcome babe. See you tomorrow.”
Mary skipped off and Frank turned to Fliss giving her another quick kiss.
“You know, you don’t have to make her thank me.” Fliss smiled as he pulled away. “She comes as part of the package.”
“She can still mind her manners.” Frank shrugged “Be back in five.”
Thor made to follow but Fliss grabbed his collar to stop him, before she grinned and after faffing with him for a second let him go. He padded after Frank and Mary, neither of them paying him any attention, although Frank didn’t fail to notice the grins the three of them were getting as they walked down to Roberta’s. Most likely thanks to the hat Mary had on.
Mary pushed Roberta’s door in and they all stepped inside, Roberta coming out of the kitchen to greet them.
“Mary Christmas!” Mary grinned and Roberta scoffed “Geddit? Mary, Merry…”
“Yeah I get it.” Roberta shook her head as Frank let out a snort. Her attention turned to him and she folder her arms, looking him up and down “You look like you just crawled outta some kind of pit. You’re filthy.”
“Yeah, well, been working.” He shrugged as Mary padded past into the living room. “Erm…forgetting something Stack?”
“Oh….” She turned and grabbed her little rucksack off him before she continued.
“Night then.” He shot sarcastically, receiving no response. He shook his head and turned to Roberta “We’re not going out so any issues…”
“There are never any issues Frank.” Roberta rolled her eyes “So, get….” She trailed off as her eyes fell towards Thor “Did you put antlers on the dog?”
Frank turned to look at Thor who was indeed sporting the antlers that had five or so minutes ago adorned Fliss’ head. He gave a snort, now realising why everyone they’d passed had smirked or laughed at them. “No, I didn’t” he shook his head as Thor’s tail began to thump on the floor. “That one’s down to Lissy.”
“You sure you’re not just feelin’ extra festive this year?” she teased and Frank gave a little smile.
“I’m looking forward to it, yeah.” He admitted, his eyes flicking back to the dog before he looked at Roberta. “Been a funny year. Some ways I’ll be glad to see the back of it, in others…” he trailed off as Roberta lay her hand on his arm.
“It was tough, I know. But…it all ended well.” She shrugged “You got that little girl in there and, well, a bigger girl waitin’ for you back home.”
“I’ll tell her you said that!” he grinned and Roberta slapped his arm.
“You know full well that wasn’t what I meant, besides, I’ve seen more meat on a damned grasshopper than there is on Fliss.”
“So now you’re calling her skinny…you know, I never had you down for size shaming Roberta.”
“Get outta my house before I hit you with the mop.” Roberta pointed behind him to the door causing Frank to laugh.
“See you tomorrow.” He turned, patting his thigh signalling for Thor “Come on Rudolph.”
Obediently the dog trotted after him as he left and made his way home, a soft smile playing on his face. His phone buzzed in his pocket and he pulled it out, snorting at the message of victory from Jake. He then noticed he had another message from Fliss.
His phone wasn't great on picture messages, it was old school after all, but it was good enough to make him stop in his tracks. Her red, lace bra clad breasts flashed back at him along with the message "on second thoughts, maybe sugar cookies aint enough of an apology...I'll say sorry properly"
Frank swallowed as he shoved the phone back into his pocket and set off home, his pace doubled.
Thank you Whamageddon...

Kalim Al-Asim - A promise to Jamil 1&2
You can unlock this story by getting Kalim’s SR Lab Coat
Translation under the cut
Scarabia Dorm - Jamil’s room
/BAAAAM!!!
Jamil: What’s that? What’s that explosion sound!? It came from the kitchen.
Scarabia Dorm - Hallway
Kalim: I give up~~
Jamil: Kalim!! Are you unharmed? Did you hurt yourself?
Kalim: Oh, don’t worry Jamil, I’m fine! The spell to get some water out saved me especially. As soon as I put the water on myself, I escaped from the accident.
Jamil: I see... In any case, what happened? Can it be that the parents in the Asim household were trying to target the heir Kalim...?
Kalim: Tomorrow we have alchemy class, right? I totally forgot to do my homework. So I used the earthenware pots from the kitchen.
Jamil: So you failed at it, and destroyed Scarabia’s kitchen and canteen?
Kalim: My bad, my bad. I wanted to practice making a huge cracker by throwing bread, salt and blue cheese in a pot!! I thought it’d work out~
Jamil: Did you even read the textbook? Have you ever opened the practice manual and looked at the distribution charts?
Kalim: Of course! But don’t you think that naturally digged up ores are more beautiful than coals that have been changed into diamonds? That’s why I thought I wanted to make something interesting with alchemy that no one has ever made before!
Jamil: You shouldn’t lump artificially made diamonds and real diamonds together. Besides, what you are doing isn’t alchemy, but falls in the category of foolish cooking.
Kalim: Hahaha. Now that you say it! Don’t worry, I haven’t put gold in it!
Jamil: I’m getting irritated... Regrettably, being direct with him is useless. I should calm down... Whatever. I shall call a service man tomorrow and have him repair the charred kitchen. We should finish your assignment. I shall teach you.
Kalim: Thanks Jamil. Ah! But it’s better if we prioritize fixing the kitchen.
Jamil: Why is that?
Kalim: This evening I’m holding a banquet. I’ve invited a lot of 2nd years from the other dorms.
Jamil: Irritating... The refreshments...and the meals...just who is...going to make them?
Kalim: Who...you? And while you’re at it, you can make my part as well. Ah, since it’s a banquet you don’t have to be elaborate! Anything you make is tasty after all!
/BAM!!!
Kalim: Aah! Nothing happened, where did that explosion come from?
Jamil: You shouldn’t talk that much for someone who destroyed the kitchen. Besides, didn’t we have a banquet yesterday!!
Kalim: Yesterday was saturday and today is sunday. Those are the best days to party on.
Jamil: Aah~ My patience has reached its limit! I will definitely not cook. THE BANQUET IS CANCELLED!!
Kalim: Huh~~~!? The banquet is...cancelled!? Why!?
Jamil: What’s there to question! It’s only natural! Listen well Kalim, you will now go and apologize to everyone you invited.
Kalim: Really~~~~~~~!!
Mirror Chamber
Kalim: The promise I made with the invitees is important but the agreement I have with Jamil is even more important. I can’t do anything but apologize to all the invitees from the bottom of my heart. So the first person...
Heartslabyul Dorm
Riddle: The party is cancelled? ...But Kalim, did I not refuse your invite in the first place. You ran off without waiting for my reply. In any case, it is no problem for me.
Kalim: Sorry Riddle. I will definitely recompensate you. I’ll invite you to my next banquet! See ya!
Riddle: Good grief. He is exactly the same as on the day he invited me. He pays no attention to what anyone tells him.
Mostro Lounge
Floyd: What’s your order, sea otter? Hm, you’re not a customer? I’m a bit busy with the café now~
Azul: Is the party at Scarabia cancelled? The one we were invited to... It is a holiday, so us three cannot leave Mostro Lounge empty during a peak business period.
Jade: Kalim, the postponement of your party is extremely regrettable. I look forward to the next opportunity. Now, let me show you the exit.
Kalim: Azul, Floyd, Jade, sorry! I’ll invite you again!
Diasomnia Dorm
Kalim: Silver, sorry! Today’s party is cancelled. Forgive me!
Silver: Nodding off...nodding o....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Kalim: I take that nodding your head means you forgive me! Thanks! Don’t look so disheartened.
Mirror Chamber
Kalim: Alright, I’m on a real “Cancelling the party” message tour. Next is the last invitee. Let’s go!
Savanaclaw Dorm
Ruggie: No way!! I’m definitely not forgiving you!
Kalim: Huh!!
Ruggie: You told us to “Cheer up with good food and fun dances!” right!?
Kalim: Y-Yeah...
Ruggie: I was really looking forward to today’s banquet! I skipped dinner yesterday and now I’m starving...
Kalim: Sorry Ruggie... but Jamil will not allow me to hold a banquet...
Ruggie: Then what’re you going to do about my belly changing gears? I even went out and bought tupperware~
Kalim: Ruggie... I can’t believe that you looked forward to Scarabia’s food and dances to that extent...
Ruggie: Ah, I don’t really care ‘bout the singing and dancing... But I ain’t forgiving you either way!
Kalim: I see... I got it! Riddle and the others must be just as dissapointed! Okay I’ll cancel the cancellation! I’ll host the best banquet on my own!!
Chapter 2
Savanaclaw Dorm
Kalim: Okay I’ll cancel the cancellation! I’ll host the best banquet on my own!!
Ruggie: As expected of you. Then I can fill my belly ‘til it’s bursting!
Scarabia Dorm
Kalim: First of all, I should make refreshments for the guests! Is what I want to say but... I forgot both our kitchen and ingredients are charred. Hey, Jamil! Wait, I can’t rely on Jamil today...
Ruggie: Then, why don’t we use the college’s canteen. I’ll request the license.
Kalim: I see. Thank you Ruggie. You’re a good guy!
Ruggie: Shshsh... In any case today’s meal will be a treat~ (TL note: can also be extravagant)
Kalim: Since we secured a place we should buy the ingredients next.
Mister S’s Mystery Shop
Sam: Welcome! No matter what you seek, we have it IN STOCK NOW! What are you searching now?
Kalim: We want to create a lof of famous stew of the Country of Hot Sands. We came to buy all the sheep and chicken you have!
Ruggie: Hey, Kalim. Shouldn’t you check your wallet first?
Kalim: Hm? Wallet?
Sam: That is no problem for the imp of the Country of Hot Sands! I can charge his household directly.
Ruggie: Really! As expected of a son of the world famous multimillionaire Asim family. Well then, we shouldn’t only get sheep and chicken, I also want top quality marbled beef~ Just kidd...
Kalim: That’s fine! The guests will enjoy it more if there are a variety of flavors.
Ruggie: You’re really OK? Then I want to use my favorite truffles as well~ I’m not going to eat them though...
Kalim: Sure!
Ruggie: Sure!?
Kalim: Don’t hold back! This is a banquet to please the guests.
Ruggie: Then I want to eat one of the three biggest delicacies of Twisted Wonderland, an icicle mushroom! But y’know, there’s no way you’ll get something that expensive huh?
Kalim: IT’S OKAY!
Ruggie: IT’S OKAY!? But icicle mushrooms are seldomly harvested, it’s a super rare ingredient. I don’t think our college store has it...
Sam: IN STOCK NOW!
Ruggie: YOU HAVE IT!?!?!?
Kalim: You’re so reliable Sam. I’ll take all of them!!
Sam: Alright! Thank you, imps!
Kitchen
The ingredients are complete. Let’s hurry up and cook! First we toss all the meat and the beans in the pot-
Ruggie: Don’t~~~!! Kalim, can it be that you’ve got no experience with cooking...?
Kalim: Nope! At home, we had kitchen staff and when I went to the dormitory Jamil cooked for me.
Ruggie: Sigh, because you’re such a spoiled child... Okay, I’ll cook. I’ll congratulate you for gatherin’ all these high quality ingredients though. Go take a nap will ya.
Kalim: I’ll refuse! Jamil got mad because of me. I’ll have to take responsibility. That’s right, you can cook right. Please. Teach me!
Ruggie: Ugh!! That’s so bothersome but he’s not gonna listen to anythin’ I say~ Okay. Let’s make some good meals lickety-split.
Kalim: Thank you, Ruggie! I’ll do my best.
Ruggie: Let’s first cut the meat and vegetables in giant pieces with a kitchen knife.
Kalim: Ah. I’m forbidden from touching any cutlery. He told me to stop because it’s dangerous.
Ruggie: Huh!! But you want to cook by yourself right? You can’t start if you haven’t cut the ingredients.
Kalim: But I promised to Jamil... Ah, what about using magic instead of knives to cook? Wouldn’t it be interesting to use magic to eat at the banquet instead of forks and knives? Let’s see if I can mince the meat with magic. Hah~~~!!
Ruggie: Aaaaah! Kalim, calm down. Don’t use magic ‘n all the food~~~!
Kalim: And the cooking is done! What a nice smell~
Ruggie: Cooking with magic was a bit too much but you managed to follow my instructions fair’ well... You’re obedient and motivated, that’s where you differ from Leona.
Kalim: I could make the best meals thanks to you. Then-
Ruggie: Let’s dig in~~~~~...
Kalim: Let’s go and tell the invitees, that I told that the banquet was cancelled, about the cancellation of the cancellation of the banquet!
Ruggie: Huh~~~~!! Now? All of them?
Stairway
Jamil: Where did that Kalim loiter now. This time he isn’t even picking up his phone... I suddenly lost my cool. I hope he doesn’t cause too much trouble...Mumble...mumble... What’s that? There’s a lot of noise coming from the canteen. I should inspect that commotion first.
Kitchen
Kalim: Everyone, are you enjoying the banquet? I’ll bring you dish after dish~!
Heartslabyul student: Ahaha. Good going, Kalim~ Cooking with magic, you sure think of strange things.
Savanaclaw student: We’ll also prohibit the use of forks and knives! Let’s use magic to bring the food to our mouth.
Cafetaria
Riddle: After all, I could not refuse and now I too am present and stuck in this mess. He might be overbearing but it doesn’t hide any malicious intentions and he really just goes crazy in the moment...
Floyd: Hey, Azul, why did we come? Not that I mind because the sea otter is pretty funny.
Azul: The waiters of this party have placed an order from us Mostro Lounge.
Jade: It seems that a super rare delicacy, namely the icicle mushroom will be served. No doubt that this will please the manufacturer.
Silver: This is good... especially the mushroom...
Ruggie: Shshsh! Thanks to you both my belly and tupperware are bulging!
Jamil: I told Kalim to cancel the party. But why are there so many people attending...?
Kalim: Hey, Jamil! You finally came. Try my food.
Jamil: Did you use cutlery or fire!? I always forbid you from doing that because it’s dangerous...
Kalim: I cooked without using either of those by using magic. Ah, but Ruggie helped me out a lot as well... Jamil, you’re amazing after all. I didn’t know cooking was this troublesome.
Jamil: Huh...?
Kalim: Sorry for today. But I really wanted to throw a party no matter what. I really wanted you to get along better with students from the same year.
Jamil: Kalim... I understand. But next time, please discuss this with me first.
Kalim: Okay! Gotcha! But in any case, I’m hungry! Jamil, make something for me!
Jamil: Huh!? But you just cooked yourself didn’t you!?
Kalim: What are you saying? I’m the party’s organizer. I’m just cooking and serving the food for everyone. And didn’t I promise that I’d never eat anything that wasn’t made by you!

He then noticed he had another message ftom Fliss.

I love Soft Saturday/Sunday! :3 I remember you posted a selfship of yourself and I wanted to try one for me lol so, here goes! It was a bit hard/weird because I don't think any of these wonderful guys would be with me ^^U It was still fun to do though!
1.) Belle x Todoroki, Shouto (Bellouto? Shoutelle? Belloroki?)
- I'd probably be very distant with Todoroki at first because of his cold demeanor. It would have to be Midoriya who would get us together.
- We would end up sitting together at the same lunch table, chatting with our group of friends. Eventually our love for noodles would bring us closer. I would buy him some different types of cold soba or even show him unique recipes to try out. If I ever see anything soba related, I'd text him and say "Look! I thought of you! It's your fave ^^"
- Once he opens up about his past, I'd probably get teary eyed and give him a big hug. I'd thank him for trusting me enough with his childhood memories and I'd also eventually open up to him about my own hardships.
- I would give him all my love without smothering him. I'd just want to show him the love and care he deserves especially since he didn't have much of it growing up.
- I think it's the little things that might make Todoroki fall for me. Things like bringing him tea when he's studying late, if he fell asleep before setting up his alarm, I'd put one on his phone and on my own just to make sure he'd wake up on time, praising/acknowledging all of his big and small accomplishments, getting his favorite food when he's sad/had a rough day, sending him cute text messages like "Good morning, handsome!" or even doing something like this:
Me and Todoroki: *studying intensely*
Me: *gasps loudly* OMG
Todoroki: What? O_O
Me: I love you. (´,,•ω•,,)♡
🙈
2.) Belle x Miya, Atsumu (Bellumu? Biya? Atsubelle?)
- I'd have to have known him for a long time before we'd date. Kind of like childhood friends to lovers? If I met him at an older age, I might think he was a jerk and wouldn't want to go out with him.
- I wouldn't be afraid to call him out. Like when Atsumu is having his "if you can't hit my toss then you shouldn't be on the team" moment, I'd probably punch his arm and scold him.
- I'd have to turn it around and tell him "what if someone told you that?" or "treat others the way you want to be treated". I think he'd like that I don't treat him any different or baby him.
- Since we're childhood friends, we're already comfortable with each other. We've also seen, heard, and been through a lot together. We'd know silly small things about each other like "Atsumu always listens to this song right before a game" or "His right eye always twitches 3 times before he sneezes"
- He's seen me go through some relationships and has seen how I've acted/treated the person I'm dating. Atsumu would see that I put in a lot of effort and the stuff I'd do for my previous boyfriends. I think that would eventually make him want to ask me out. It'd be something that he might want to experience, too. Like how it would feel to hold my hand or share a loving embrace.
- When we'd get angry at each other, it could get a bit loud, but we would resolve things quickly.
- Our relationship would also be fun and full of silliness and lovely surprises. He'd do something like honk the horn right when I'm passing in front of his car to get to the passenger side. Atsumu would also surprise me with a gift that I've been eyeing or even a spontaneous trip to somewhere!
3.) Belle x Kageyama, Tobio (Bellayama? Tobelle? Kagelle?)
- We met at a mutual friend's party in college. We'd probably talk about how we were basically dragged there.
-I love to party/hang out, but when I have something to do/ a goal, I strive hard to accomplish it. (ugh, getting some PTSD from nursing school lol)
-We would end up talking about our ambitions and what we hope to end up doing in our lives. After becoming friends for a while, we'd get on the topic of relationships. We'd both want someone who is patient and understands that when we're busy, we're not ignoring them. We're studying/practicing.
-I think that is what convinces both of us to start a relationship.
-We're both busy and can get stressed out easily, but we'd know what to do to ease the stress a little. Like giving Kageyama different flavored milk cartons.
-It would look like we don't spend much time together/don't really act like a couple, but when we have free time, we'd be spending it with each other.
-We'd get our nails done together. (〃・ω・〃)
-We'd both have to think about how great it would be when we get settled with our careers and that we'd have more time to spend together. Planning future adventures/vacations is our motivation.
-Even though I'd miss Kageyama dearly, I totally understand how it feels like when you have other obligations. I'd never want to get in the way of his goal so I would do my best to support him and show my love in any way that I can and that would be something he might love about me.
First off, all three of these amazing boys would love you to pieces! You are so thoughtful and kind and they'd be foolish not to fall for you! I accept no arguments about this. 😊 This got way out of hand so... gonna put my rambling below a cut.
Send me some soft headcanons
Let's talk Todoroki! Gonna be honest... I don't know if I trust Midoriya to play cupid 😂 Of course, meeting Todoroki through him makes sense, but you know who zeros in on how cute you two look together immediately? Yes, it's Mina! Thankfully she's not obnoxious about it, but she does have your back. She expertly manipulates every situation to give you and Todoroki a chance to interact. Somehow, thanks to her, he always ends up sitting/standing right next to you in class, at lunch, in training, on the bus, on the sofa in the common room... EVERYWHERE.
Poor boy would be so confused at first by your attention. Like, of course he doesn't mind being your friend, but nobody else texts or talks to him about his interests outside of hero stuff. He didn't even know anyone noticed he liked soba that much. And all the little things you do for him like bringing him tea or setting an alarm, he's not used to it. He doesn't hate it though. Actually, he kind of likes it. And I just want you to prepare yourself for the day when he takes the initiative and your phones lights up with a message from him for the first time with a picture of some random thing that made him think of you. *my heart would explode*
It's all downhill after that because he really likes the way you respond when he reciprocates your kindness. The flustered look on your face when he brings you some of his sister's homemade soba noodles for lunch, the cute emojis you use in your texts when he messages you first in the morning, and the shy smile you give him when he finds the courage to compliment you. He's never wanted to take care of someone the way he wants to take care of you before.
ATSUMU. You're totally right. I'm the same as you in that I would not trust this little shit for a while after meeting him. Childhood friends to lovers is nice because you there's no way you wouldn't know the real Atsumu. The idea of you knowing little personal things about each other is so cute too. Atsumu takes advantage of this and always gives the best gifts for birthdays and holidays. And he's always so excited to watch you open what he got because he KNOWS you'll love it because he knows YOU.
I'd like to say that he'd be into the fact that you treat him normally like anyone else, but something tells me he would actually expect special treatment since you two are close friends. It would surprise him a little every time you reprimand him for being rude to his teammates or fighting with his brother. He respects you more than anyone else in his life though, so he always straightens up his act just as soon as you give him that look. He hates when you're angry or annoyed at him, so of course he'll be on his best behavior for you. Honestly, he'd do anything to get positive attention from you. (He's already such a simp for you and he doesn't even realize)
He thinks he's just being a protective friend when he criticizes all your previous boyfriends. None of them are even that terrible but in his eyes, nobody treats you the way you should be treated and nobody would ever be good enough. He puts you on a pedestal to be honest. And yes, once you're together it would be full of teasing and giggles and he would absolutely take it too far and overdo it sometimes and get himself into trouble, but it's okay because you know he never means to upset you. He's just so excited and in love with you.
Kageyama's turn. Oh my god! This boy would be so awkward at a college party. He'd probably just be all tall and weird standing in the corner like 😳 what's happening? Thank goodness for you, coming over to talk to him ... but wait... you're so cute... WHY are you talking to him? Now he's flustered for a different reason and he tries his best to have a normal casual conversation with you but he stumbles over his words a bit but bless your heart, you pretend not to notice and continue smiling at him. He thinks you are SO PRETTY!! omg😭
A huge weight lifts off his chest when you start talking about your goals. He knows about goals. That's easy. The look on his face is kind of scary at first because it looks like he's scowling, but he is just listening very intently to you and absorbing every single word. He almost seems like a different person when you let him talk to you about volleyball. His whole face lights up and he's talking very enthusiastically with his hands. He apologizes for ranting at you afterwards, but is also amazed that you'd stayed and let him talk so long.
Being around you IS a huge stress relief. At first he's worried about not spending enough time with you or making you think he's not interested because of his awkward mannerisms. But you're always super understanding and patient with him. Plus, you're just as busy working towards your own dreams. He supports you as much as he can just as you do for him and falling into a relationship is just really easy and natural for the two of you.
Kageyama doesn't really know how to do big extravagant dates, so just being able to take walks with you, or do activities like doing your nails together is enough to make him happy. He WANTS to do more for you though. He would never admit to this, but he actually has a small list of things he plans to do once you both have more time. He pays attention to what you might even consider silly throwaway comments like "One day we should...." or "Sometime I'd like to...." He writes it all down because even if they aren't career goals, those are still things you want which makes them very important to him.

*Bonus Halloween chapter* it’s longer than normal (2k)
The biggest party in Tokyo was for a western holiday called Halloween, and the streets surrounding the heart of Shibuya that Saturday were literally crawling with a million young adults in every kind of costume you could imagine! Most of the revelers had no idea as to the origins of this holiday. All they cared about was dressing up and having a good time, including Lucy and her friends who’d dressed up as their favorite manga characters from Eden’s Zero. The businesses lining the streets in the area were used to the onslaught and welcomed it because it meant a nice chunk of revenue, while authorities did their best to control the crowds.
The group started off with Lucy, Levy, Erza, Gajeel, and Gray, but over time as others showed up or they ran into more friends, the groups numbers ebbed and flowed. Gray was the first to take off to meet his girlfriend Juvia, and once Natsu was off of work and joined them, Lucy and he split off to cruise by themselves for a while.
“Wow it’s so eerie how much you guys look like Shiki and Rebecca!”
“Thanks Mira,” Lucy blushes.
“Tch, I may look like the guy, but I’m not as dopey as him,” Natsu retorts. “He’s taking too damn long to make it official with Rebecca.”
“Don’t mind him,” Lucy giggles, “Natsu ships Shicca hard. But it’s even funnier to watch him and Gray argue over Weiszmura.”
“That’s because Gray is a blind bat who won’t admit they match!”
“Okay,” Mira laughs, “put the canons away. Are you two gonna check out the BUMP party at Womb nightclub?”
“Maybe a little later.” Lucy answers for them. “I heard they had some decent bands this year, but I’d rather go somewhere a little smaller like Sonidos.”
“Oh, yeah? Lisanna’s boyfriend Bixlow is the DJ there tonight.”
Lucy looks to Natsu, “we definitely should stop by and say hi.”
“Agreed.”
“Well it was nice bumping into you. I need to meet up with Laxus so you two have fun! I’ll catch you later!” Mira waves as she rejoins the flood of passerby’s.
Natsu takes Lucy’s hand and the couple continued walking around with no real destination. They stop in open stores to browse or grab yummy-looking finger foods from street vendors along the way. Despite the chaos around them, this was turning into a nice reprieve from their daily lives. It was already 1 am, but from the amount of activity going on, it was easy to lose track of time.
“Look, look,” Lucy points while dragging Natsu with her. “Photo booth!”
“Aww, really?” He whines, though the smile never wavered on his face.
“Yup!” She pulls him in and fishes out a bill from her wallet for the machine.
“Chi-zu!”
The pair chuckle and pose for the five shutter clicks. Each pose varying until the last one ending with a kiss from Natsu and genuinely surprised expression on Lucy’s face. It wasn’t their first kiss, but this would be a memorable one. For a few seconds as the machine printed out the slip of photos, Natsu holds her gaze, sweeping his thumb gently along her flushed cheek. There was a sense of intimacy in these confined booths where many a couple had hidden away from the public for this very kind of very moment.
“Thank you,” he smiles, eyes soft and pure of appreciation.
“For what?” Genuinely unsure of the reason.
“Giving me a second chance. These past few months have been the happiest times of my life and it’s all thanks to meeting you on that train.”
“I’m really glad too,” Lucy smiles sweetly. “Really... really glad,” she breathes out as she moves in to kiss him again.
“Excuse me?” A loud knocking sound stops them. “There’s other people waiting to use the machine!”
“Whoops. To be continued,” she gives Natsu just a quick peck and the pair get out of the booth. They apologize to the next group in line and race off hand in hand, laughing. That had been exhilarating!
Lucy’s heart was still racing even though they were long gone from the photo booth. She and Natsu had been taking things extra slow because of her earlier concerns. Aside from dates and a few kisses here and there, they’d never gone much further and she wondered who was the one holding back. Was it really her or was it actually him because he was too nervous to lose her? Tonight... in that booth... if they weren’t in public... her body flushes wildly just from the thought of it. Okay, so maybe she’s been dying to take their relationship further. Maybe not sex— yet, soon, or maybe... ‘argh! Not now!’ Lucy scolds her libido. But a make out session was a very tempting idea!
They check out Lisanna and Bixlow for a short time at Sonidos, before briefly hooking back up with Levy and Gajeel for some crepes. That’s when Levy quietly informs Lucy that she’ll be crashing at her boyfriend’s house instead of going back to the dorm. “You know... for some privacy,” the girl winks at Lucy. “Hint. Hint!”
“I-It’s too soon for that! W-with us,” her tips burn with lies through each syllable.
“Pfft, you can’t lie that you’ve never thought about it.”
“No... not all the way...”
“Uh-huh. Well, do whatever,” she winks a second time and stands up to leave. “See ya in tomorrow night.”
“Yeah. See ya.”
“Why are your ears all red?” Natsu asks Lucy.
Lucy stiffens up. “N-Nothing important.”
“Oh... okay,” he smiles. “So whatdya wanna do next?”
“Actually, I’m kinda getting tired already.” It was after 3 am and they’d been out and on their feet for over seven hours.
Natsu sighs relief. “Me too! I just didn’t wanna ruin your fun. Shall I take you home?” He squeezes her hand with a smile.
“Yes,” she returns the squeeze, “and if you’d like you can spend the night— I-I mean since you’re tired and all! I’d just feel better than making you back track.”
“I’ll behave, I promise.”
The couple ride the train the short distance between Shibuya and Shinjuku to where Lucy’s dorm is located, cautious of the other riders on the train. Even though alcohol is not allowed on the streets during Halloween, it didn’t stop people from getting drunk and few creepy peepers kept looking at Lucy. But luckily, the train wasn’t very packed despite the holiday because the Shibuya party wasn’t over till 4am and they beat the end rush. On the way, Natsu texts his roommate out of courtesy, only to find out that Gray and Juvia were already at the apartment. Figures. Well it was a good thing he wasn’t walking into that situation! Even if nothing happened, just watching Juvia fawning all over Gray wouldn’t have been appealing. Once they arrive at the dorms, they make sure no one had followed and proceed inside.
Lucy leaves Natsu in the small living room as she changes out of her costume and into something a lot more comfortable. He was lucky the men’s costume was still semi-normal and he only had to remove the jacket and goggles for comfort, but the black hair dye will wash out in a week. She then grabs them a couple bottles of melon milk tea before joining him on the couch. Thank goodness, they didn’t have school, or he didn’t work the next day.
“That was fun,” Lucy curls against his arm with a yawn. “So, tiring though.”
“I haven’t been to Shibuya’s party in a couple of years, but it sure hasn’t changed,” Natsu chuckles. He leans his head against hers while threading their fingers together. “Totally agree on being tired. It probably wouldn’t be as bad if I hadn’t worked too.”
A companionable silence falls over the couple for a few minutes and after some time Natsu assumed Lucy had fallen asleep resting on his shoulder. He would have stayed in that position till his ass was numb if it kept her relaxed. This beauty queen deserved it and more, and he meant every word he’d told her earlier. The second chance had become a cosmic wish come true and he’d be damned to let anything ruin this between them.
“Hey Natsu?”
“Yeah Luce?”
“Do you think we could pick up from where we left off... in that photo booth?”
He swallows hard. It was one thing in the heat of the moment, but quite another to put aside his nerves now that they were so relaxed. This was a different kind of intimacy and much more intimidating to say the least. A private apartment without anything or anyone to interrupt or stop two consenting adults from going too far... and the last thing he wanted to do was something wrong! A regretted decision would destroy everything built up until that moment. But he couldn’t tell her no either!
Sensing the turmoil, Lucy sits up and turns his face towards her. Her instincts were probably on point earlier about his anxiety. “We don’t have to, if you’re not ready, but I wouldn’t mind making out with you... just a little.” She adds in the goal as a way to allay his fears. And it works. Lucy immediately feels his shoulders relax again. She gently caresses his cheek, her eyes zeroing in on his lips. “I just… like kissing you Natsu.”
“I’ll let you direct then, a-and if I start going too far, just stop me. I won’t get mad, I just...”
“Shh, I know,” she smiles, “and that what I like about you.”
Lucy closes the gap and steals his lips, starting slow, then adding pressure behind it. Her hand slides behind his head, fingers weaving into his messy hair as she tilts her head to deepen the kiss. Their tongues tease and test, mouths molding together as teeth clack gently the further, they push each other’s oral boundaries. She could still taste some of the sweetness of the crapes lingering.
His own hands stay glued, one with fingers twined in her hair and the other to Lucy’s side, just below the rib cage. Natsu loses himself in her kisses, they were so soft and sweet, a little adventurous as she ran her tongue once over his canines and giggled. That brought a grin to his lips and a straight arrow through his heart. He wasn’t ready to say it out loud yet, but he loved Lucy. His heart knew it and that’s all that matters, so when the time is right, he’ll tell her, but not yet, he knew she wasn’t ready for that level.
Natsu’s so lost in the kisses he barely registers additional heat against his chest as Lucy’s hand has found its way under his shirt. It wasn’t doing more than simply resting against his pectorals, but it was much further than he’d expected her to venture tonight. Every few minutes her fingers would lightly curl against his skin or move slightly up or down, sending little shivers over his skin. As far as he was concerned, she could do anything she wanted to him as long as it was her choice.
It surprises him when Lucy starts to press forward. At first one of his hands moves to keep from falling back onto the couch, but her sudden whine triggers him to let it happen and the next thing he knows Lucy is using him as a bed. So, he wraps his left arm more firmly around her body to make sure she doesn’t fall off.
Lucy lifts her head to look Natsu in the eyes. “Is this okay?” She questions him. “Am I too heavy?”
“I don’t mind,” he smiles at her, “but are you comfortable? I could shift us over so we’re more on our sides.”
“That would be great. Just felt like snuggling more.”
He kisses her lips. “Works for me.” Natsu then adjusts their bodies carefully until Lucy’s back is resting against the couches backing with her head on his shoulder and chest. She wraps her arm around his torso and huddles close to his frame, while their legs are slightly tangled together. “Comfy?”
“Mmm hmm,” she nods her head against his chest and closes her eyes.
Natsu kisses the top of her head, bringing a smile to her face, then wraps his left arm over to rest his hand on her shoulder and cuddle her close. “Goodnight, Lucy.”
“Mmm. Goodnight, Natsu.”
Eight months ago, the only thing Natsu thought about was a career and now after that fateful train ride he knew his new goal in life had to include the blonde next to him. Lucy felt so perfect in his arms and oh, if only he could wake up like this every morning for the rest of his life, well than he’d be the luckiest man on the planet. With a smile of his own, he closes his eyes and lets the cadence of her heartbeat lull him to sleep. This was a very happy Halloween indeed!
Just to give an idea this is Shibuya on Halloween: I’m so sad I didn’t get to see it this year like I was supposed to ;-; but Natsu and Lucy got to have a little fun in my place lol.
Also a warning, the story gets much more angsty after this for several chapters 😅

hey!! could u let us know what fics u have in the works? i was just curious to know what we could expect next, i literally get so happy everytime u post!!
Hello lovely! You get excited when I post?! That means everything to me oh my god you are too sweet. Thank you so much! <3 I cry!
I have quite a few things in the works right now so here is a list and general summaries! Fun fact I was typing out this reply and my laptop died which caused me to lose my whole response so here’s to typing this all out a second time!
Works In Progress
Manipulation Part Two: I apologize to anyone waiting for this. Ya girl is struggling with it because I am being too picky about how I want it to go. I am working on it though I promise!
Missing You: This is another song based fic. Based on the song Missing You by All Time Low. General Summary: JJ x Reader fic. Y/N is struggling to find her place in the world while dealing with her Kook father and Pogue mother’s messy divorce. She is self-medicating with alcohol to cope. Runs into the Pogues and JJ takes interest in Y/N and teaches her what real love and friendship are all about.
Pogues x Breakfast Club AU: I have two working titles right now, haven’t chosen the official one yet. This will be my first ever “big” series. I love The Breakfast Club and thought this would be an amazing crossover. I only have the basic ideas written out for it right now. General Summary: Detention at Kildare High was never anything exciting, until one fateful Saturday. A Mixed group of individuals find themselves together for weekend detention. What happens next is history. (FIrst time the Pogues meet before the Pogues were even a thing! Except for John B and JJ as they already know each other.)
Untitled: This is gonna be an emotional one. TW: Depression. Found myself writing this one when I was in a not great head place as it was helping me cope I guess. Based on my own personal struggles and how depression has affected me. General Summary: JJ x Reader fic. Y/N has always been the mom of the friend group making sure everyone was always taken care of even if that means neglecting herself in the process. Y/N’s depression spirals and she avoids the Pogues not wanting to bother them as she is the newest member of the crew. They visit her house and find out what’s really going on as they didn’t know of her struggles. This is the most basic summary ever, I promise it’s better than it sounds. (Not entirely sure if I’ll even post this one honestly as it was really just writing for me so I didn’t spiral myself.)
Untitled: I saw the quote “Bad decisions make for good stories.” I got inspired by it and have about 4k+ already written for it so oops. General Summary: Kook!Reader x JJ fic. Y/N is a Kook with a family legacy. Her family owns and runs the infamous Country Club in Figure Eight. Her parents expect her to take over the business when she is older, even if she doesn’t want to. During a business meeting with the Cameron’s about Midsummers Ward suggests she takes a break and spends time with Rafe and his crew on The Druthers. Though she doesn’t want to her father forces her as being connected to the Cameron’s is great for the family name. During her time with Rafe there is a run-in with the Pogues and later on, JJ climbs his way to her window to take her out on a night of adventure. This is a terrible summary I’m working on it sorry haha.
Album Fic Series: The last idea that I am working on is an album fic series. I don’t really know what to call it, but one of my favorite albums all the songs on it would work really well for multiple fics so I’m thinking about taking that album and doing a different fic for each song. So it’s a series of stories based on the songs on the album. That will be a lot of work though so I probably won’t tackle this until I am on break from my college classes.
I also am currently working on 4 requests. They are supposed to be blurbs, but I’m terrible at writing anything short so apologies to the anons who are waiting I am working on them I promise!
Request One: JJ x Touron!Reader Affair. This has been a lot of fun writing so far! General Summary: Touron!Reader and her boyfriend visit the Outer Banks on holiday and a certain blonde Pogue makes things messy.
Request Two: Dress Code. Platonic Pogues! This was a request I got and is based on the post that @maybanktho made. Find the original post here. General Summary: Kie gets dress coded at school and in support of their friend the Pogues go shirtless at school in protest.
Request Three: Jiara fic. First time writing for my fave ship and it’s gonna be super fluffy per request! General Summary: Kie is sick and her best friend JJ is here to help.
Request Four: Kie x Platonic Pogues. TW: sexual assault. If I’m honest this one is gonna take me the longest because I refuse to write anything in a glorified manner so I’m taking this one pretty seriously in terms of writing. General Summary: Kie has been off lately and the Pogues aren’t quite sure why. When the news breaks they take matters into their own hands.
Okay! Sorry, this is such a long response! I wasn’t expecting it to be so long and detailed haha! 13 Days of Christmas (Kim Mingyu)
Happy Saturday! The most exciting part of my day has been knowing I’m cleaning my bathroom. I’ll see y’all tomorrow! gif credits to owners! (Unedited!)
Word count: 1846
You had known that you hadn’t been in a relationship in sometime. You couldn’t remember when someone had asked you out to grab a coffee or go to the movies or anything. You missed someone holding your hand and holding you close, but you had a good reason. After two years, your ex-boyfriend had just dropped you like you didn’t exist. He kept everything you bought him of course, and he refused to take everything back you bought him, so it stayed in the corner of your room, haunting you for months on end.
And then one day, Mingyu offered to help you burn it all: the clothes, the pictures, the stuffed animals, everything that came from him went to the fire and the smoke polluted the sky. Everything that survived the first round, went to a secondhand store where you traded that junk for money and you treated Mingyu to smoothies to repay him for freeing you. Mingyu helped mend your broken heart; you weren’t oblivious to how he cared for you during that time. It didn’t matter if it was two am or two pm, if you had a breakdown, he was a phone call away. You would’ve texted him but the sound of his voice calmed you and over time, it gave you the strength to help you heal.
Mingyu had helped you in more ways than one, and you didn’t know how to repay him.
It had been a tough year but you persevered and you planned on ending it as strongly as possible. And you wanted to thank him for everything, so you decided to invite him to a holiday party a town over. It wasn’t a luxurious thing but people would be exchanging gifts throughout the night and the present wrapped up nicely on your bed seemed like it would make up for it.
You planned to meet up with him there due to a difference in your schedules so you weren’t in a rush to shower to get ready, but when you had nothing else to do, you still managed to arrive 45 earlier than expected. You mingled with some acquaintances from a few classes and some of your coworkers while you waited on Mingyu.
And then there were people rushing past you, making you spill your drink everywhere and sent your present flying out of your hands. You didn’t know how they could be so careless around others. (You already knew the poor host was gonna be in for a long clean up session...and if they had money, then their poor cleaning people for having such entitled bosses.) You could already see the red drink seeping into the white, white carpet and had you not heard Mingyu’s name, you would’ve stayed behind to clean it.
It didn’t take long to spot Mingyu; he was always the easiest to find in a crowded room. However, he didn’t look happy; he looked like he was out for blood and upon closer inspection, you found him holding your ex-boyfriend by the collar of his Christmas sweater. And if there was anything you knew about Kim Mingyu, it was the fact he wouldn’t strike unless provoked. So, he must’ve heard something, and while he glared daggers into your ex’s eyes, you weren’t afraid for Mingyu’s safety. (Mingyu’s height and frequent visits to the local gym made him scary to the wrong people.)
“Say it again,” Mingyu threatened him, not knowing that you could see him.
“Hey man, look I didn’t mean it like that. I just-”
“Y/N is not a toy or an object for you to be talking shit. You wanna talk shit, I’m right here.”
“You got the wrong idea; you guys just seemed really cozy lately-”
“How the fuck is any of that your business?”
You wondered why no one tried to diffuse the situation. Sure they had their phones out and everything, but no one was stepping in to try to convince Mingyu to let go.You had to admit how amused you were. You could feel the tension yes, but it didn’t stop you from enjoying the scene. You had suffered for so long, shed too many tears, and stopped taking care of yourself all for no good reason. You weren’t the type to tell anyone who hurt you that you still wished them the best. No, you wished all kinds of pain on them, for them to feel what you did. (It wasn’t your healthiest trait if you were honest, but you weren’t perfect and you were only human.)
Seeing him the way you felt for so long gave you a sense of power. They couldn’t see you and you knew that if you came into view Mingyu would immediately let go and your ex would scurry to the opposite side of the house...if he didn’t leave right away, that is. And that made you smile...a lot. Hell, if Mingyu wanted to deck him in the face once, that be the best Christmas present ever.
“Y/N, control your boyfriend,” you heard a friend whisper to you. “It’s Christmas and this is a time for all of us to be together, happily.”
“Ahh, you’re the one. I get it. Are you afraid that Mingyu’s gonna hurt your boyfriend?” You didn’t say that Mingyu wasn’t your boyfriend...or that he wouldn’t actually hurt him. You’ve seen how soft-hearted this boy really was. He sang Christmas carols at a hospital not too long ago. Part of you wanted to see how much longer this would play out, but you actually saw people getting too scared now to actually intervene. So, you broke it up yourself. “Mingyu?” you managed to say as quietly as possible. How pulled off a scared look, you didn’t know but hey it worked.
As predicted, Mngyu’s hand gripping at the collar went slack and he pulled back. The anger you saw on his face, however, surprised you. “Hey,” he said, keeping his voice low.
Your ex finally had some color on his face and somehow managed to spit out, “You two deserve each other anyway.” and ran to go hide. No doubt come Monday, the shit-talking would start and he’d try to make himself look good. Not that you cared or that Mingyu cared.
“Sorry I kept you waiting,” he apologized. “Traffic. But this party already sucks. So I’m just gonna head out. Do you wanna come with me?”
You didn’t give it a second thought as you nodded your head, and you walked out the door with him without saying goodbye to anyone. “Where are we going?”
“Well, unless you have a different idea, I’m thinking we could just drive around.” He opened the passenger side for you and once you were in, he walked around and started his car. “By the way, I’m sorry if I embarrassed you. Your ex really likes to talk, huh?”
“Yeah, I’m sorry about him...what did he tell you anyway?”
“Well, he’s convinced I’m dating you due to all the times he’s seen me come out of your apartment...so early in the morning. But he also wanted to know some information that really wasn’t his to know.”
“What -”
“You’re a person, not a toy that can be played with and then be put to the side. God, I wish I could’ve hit him. Are you cold? Let me turn on the heater for you.” He fumbled around with knobs nad buttons until a burst of warm air hit the car and then you were on your way. He turned on the radio and quickly changed stations as soon as he heard the Christmas songs. It’s not that he hated them, he just hated how overplayed they were. “So, what’d you get me?”
“What makes you think this is for you?”
“The Mingyu in bold letters does the trick. And if it was yours, you would’ve unwrapped it by now and showed it off.”
“I really hate that you’re a good guesser.” You turned the present around in your hands so the friction could keep them warm. “It’s just a cologne. I smelled it when I was on my break once, and I thought it’d be a good scent for you.”
“You have amazing taste.” His eyes widened at the sight in front of him as the roads soon became covered in snow. He drove a little further along until he could stop at the side of the road. He pulled out some gloves in the backseat and then got off. He waited for you to get off on your own because he knew you didn’t care much for snow or the cold weather in general and he felt like he could wait. He liked snow; it was temporary and it brought people close together, be it making forts, building snowmen, or trying to catch the flakes on their tongues.
“Why’d you stop here?” you managed to chatter out. You blew on your hands to keep them warm and then stuffed them into your jacket.
“It’s quiet and calm. I don’t think it feels like Christmas until it’s cold and dark. And even with all the lights decorating the houses, it’s still too dark to see unless you're in the neighborhood.” He leaned back, watching the cars speed by, most of them carrying trees to decorate once they got home and he smiled, thinking of all the kids who’d put the ornaments and fighting over who got to the star on top. Mingyu watched you struggle to keep warming your hands to he reached over took them into his. “Is this okay?”
“Yeah.” He rubbed one a little and then put it in his pocket.
He took the other one and blew on it, not giving up until it was a lot warmer than when he started. Although, his gloves helped in the process. “Better?”
“A little.” You liked how close he was to you,and you could smell the peppermint creamer from his coffee. You liked his company...and him in general. He was warm. You let go of him then, only to wrap your arms around him. And you liked the pressure he put on his arms as he hugged you back. No one did it quite like Mingyu.
“Hey Y/N…”
“Yes Mingyu?”
“You’re really cold.”
“So are you.”
You were grateful to him, especially in moments like these.
“Hey Y/N?”
“Yes Mingyu?”
“You smell really good.”
“So do you.”
You felt so content, something you had been lacking for sometime.
“Hey Y/N?”
“Yes Mingyu?”
“I think I wanna kiss you.”
“Me too.”
Gently, so gently as to not disturb the moment, he angled your face perfectly so that he could give you the softest of kisses and one for every time he wanted to tell you how much you meant to him. The snow brought you comfort for once in your life, and you finally found that missing piece.
“Hey Y/N?”
“Yes Mingyu?”
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
Maybe that missing piece was Mingyu.

Come Into Bloom
Femslash Fairies 2020 Prompt: Flower Shop Pairing: Erza x Mirajane A Collaboration by @mdelpin and @oryu404 AO3 | FF.Net September 25, 2021
“It’s getting pretty crowded out there,” Sherry commented to Erza as she looked out the shop window.
“Hopefully, that will be good for us,” Erza mumbled as she worked on another corsage, this one a pretty combination of lavender and pink flowers.
They were right in the middle of Fantasia, the biggest flower holiday of the year. Unlike Valentine’s Day, which was mostly targeted at lovers, Fantasia was meant for everyone. It was just as likely for a father to give a token to his children, as to his partner, or even his own parents.
Erza had already made Natsu's order that morning, a beautiful flower crown for Hana, as well as a large bouquet for Gray. Atlas, Aki and the twins were getting some flower-shaped cookies that Mira and Elfman had baked and decorated for the boys the previous night as they were a little too young to appreciate flowers.
“Isn’t it about time for Mira to get here?” Sherry asked her employer, smiling as Erza’s hands immediately went to her hair.
“Oh yes, you’re right,” Erza looked back down at her work table not wanting to give away her agitation.
“It’s so nice that you two make a habit of having lunch together every Saturday,” Sherry enthused, with hearts in her eyes. “Are you getting her something for Fantasia?”
“I uhm, hadn’t thought about it,” Erza lied, not wanting to admit that she had spent hours trying to devise the perfect bouquet of flowers. One that would let Mira know once and for all how she felt about her, but with all the orders she needed to fill plus walk-ins, there had been no time. It was only her and Sherry, and she couldn’t afford to hire more employees.
She’d started working at Rose of Yūen during her college days, and once she’d graduated, she’d bought it from the elderly couple who had owned it. It was her pride and joy, but it also took up a lot of her time, the rest of which was usually claimed by her brother and niece and nephew.
Which is how she had ended up pining for the same woman for years and finding multiple excuses to do nothing about it.
The tinkling of the shop’s door alerted them to a visitor, and Sherry went to help their customer, knowing that Erza was about to go on her lunch break. Erza smiled, remembering the special order she had hidden in her office cooler. Ren Akatsuki, Sherry’s husband, would be by to pick it up as soon as Sherry went on her own break.
That was one of the things she loved about having the shop. Most of the time, she got to see the best in people. The shy teenage boy anxiously looking for a corsage for his first date, the elderly couples that were still madly in love with each other even after a lifetime together and everything in between.
There was Rogue Eucliffe who special ordered flowers from Edolas, to give his husband a taste of his home country. And Alzack Connell, who bought flowers for both his wife and daughter at least once a month and would probably stop in today.
Even couples who were rekindling a love thought lost long ago. Silver Fullbuster and Gildarts Clive were probably some of her favorite customers, always coming in full of boisterous insults towards the other, yet the love in their eyes was unmistakable.
In fact, it seemed like everyone around her was either in love or starting a relationship. Even her brother, who had unexpectedly become a widower last year, had already found someone. While Erza remained forever alone.
She was done with that though, after spending the last eight years building up her business and helping Natsu get back on his feet, it was time to do something for herself. To stop pining for her best friend and try her own hand at love. If she didn’t do something soon someone was likely to whisk Mira off her feet, and she’d have no one to blame but herself.
It was while she was lost in these thoughts that Erza felt a soft tap on her shoulder. She looked up to see Mira smiling at her, “You always get so lost in your flowers. I’m gonna go set these up in your office, okay?”
Mira moved towards the office without waiting for Erza's approval, a bag of food from Fairy Tail in each hand. When she noticed Erza wasn’t following, she called behind her, “Hurry up, I brought you a surprise, but if you make me wait too long, I’ll eat it myself!”
Erza put her tools down and scrambled, knowing there was a good chance the surprise was strawberry cake, and she wasn’t about to give that up.
Her office wasn’t very large, but there was enough room for her desk and chair, a watercooler and a small round table with two plastic chairs. Mira had already set out the food, rolling her eyes when Erza’s eyes were already on the two slices of cake that were visible inside a clear plastic container. “How you don’t weigh 300 pounds, I’ll never know,” Mira giggled.
Erza ignored the comment, digging into the chicken pot pie Mira had brought. “Mhmm, this is really good!” she complimented, closing her eyes to savor all the different flavors.
“Yeah, I remembered it was your favorite. I changed the recipe up a little, made it lighter, and the crust a little flakier.”
“Whatever you did, it’s amazing!”
“You really are as bad as Natsu, just as messy too,” Mira laughed fondly, grabbing a napkin from the bag and handing it to Erza, who had sauce dripping down her chin, before taking a bite from her own dish.
“Have you been very busy today with Fantasia?” Mira asked curiously.
“Yeah, a lot of walk-ins, lots of special requests too,” Erza replied, continuing to eat, “What about you guys?”
“It’s still a little early for the drinking crowd, but the restaurant was pretty busy, they had Natsu subbing in for a waiter that called in sick, at least until the bar needs him back. That was uhm, interesting,” Mira’s eyes twinkled with mirth, “Good thing he’s an excellent bartender.”
She leaned forward in her chair, curious as always, “What kinds of special requests?”
“Well, different flowers can mean different things, it’s almost like a language all its own. Like those flowers that Rogue gets for Sting? Those mean everlasting love.”
“Why am I not surprised? Those two are sickening,” Mira snorted, “Is there one that means I really kind of just like you as a friend?”
“Well, there’s yellow roses, they’re not associated with romance. Oh, and alstroemeria,” Erza recited, clarifying when she saw Mira’s blank expression,” It’s a type of lily.”
She got up and opened one of her desk drawers, grabbing a book and bringing it back to the table. She looked through it until she found a picture of the flower she had mentioned and showed it to Mira.
It was a beautiful flower that came in a variety of bright colors, with center petals that had contrasting stripes. Mira studied the picture, and it’s given description curiously, but her attention was soon drawn by other flowers on the page.
"Wow, I never knew that there was so much symbolism behind flowers," she mused as she turned the page, "It’s a lot more complicated than I’d thought.” She looked up at Erza, a devious smirk on her lips and a twinkle of mischief in her eyes that Erza found really adorable, but also a tad bit troubling. “Hey, are there any flowers that have an offensive meaning?”
Erza snorted, immediately thinking about the first time Gildarts had come to her shop with a similar question, “Look up yellow carnations.”
“Disappointment and rejection? Ouch!” Mira giggled, and the sound translated into butterflies in Erza’s stomach. “So, do you know all of these by heart?”
“I know most of them, but there are so many variations, and each color often has its own meaning-”
Before Erza had the chance to get lost in the passion she had for her job, she was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Erza, I’m sorry to disrupt your lunch, but do you think you could come out here for a few minutes? There are several customers and another special order,” Sherry looked apologetic.
While slightly disappointed, Erza didn’t mind too much, she’d already known it was probably going to be a busy day.
“I’m sorry, I’ll try to hurry,” Erza apologized to Mira, wiping her face with the napkin before getting up from the table and rushing out the door, a smile already on her face.
Mira continued eating, grabbing the book Erza had left on the table and flipping through its pages, the beginnings of an idea blooming in her mind.
Erza never returned to finish her lunch, and eventually, Mira had to go back to work, so she cleaned up, putting Erza’s food in her small fridge and leaving both pieces of cake for her to eat later.
Mira hurried to the door waving goodbye to both Sherry and Erza on her way out.
0-0
It had been a long day, both Erza and Sherry had been going nonstop, although Erza insisted Sherry take her break if only so she could get Ren his flowers.
They had sold out of everything in the refrigerators and had to scramble to replenish them. Erza felt like she had seen just about everyone in town. Loke came in to get corsages and flower crowns for his daughters, and a small bouquet for Lucy.
Silver and Gildarts had come in with Rogue and the kids, along with an order from Gray for Natsu. Lyon had surprised both her and Sherry by coming in to get something for Chelia. That had probably been her favorite moment of the day, watching the usually stoic Lyon acting nervous and awkward as he tried to find something special for the daughter he’d just discovered he had.
Almost as lovely as watching Sherry help him pick something Chelia would like. Alzack, Macao, Warren, Cana, Juvia, the list went on and on. About the only person she hadn’t seen was Sting.
Almost as if on cue, Sting raced in, hair disheveled, breathing in gasps and eyeing her worriedly, “Am I too late?”
“You’re fine,” Erza assured him, “We don’t close for another hour.”
“Oh, good. Rogue has the car, and I had to run here from the hospital.”
“The hospital?” Erza’s eyes widened in disbelief, “You’re an idiot, you should have taken a taxi or something.”
“No, there’s a ton of traffic, they’re starting to close off the streets for tonight’s events.”
“I see,” She went into her office returning with a folding chair and a cup of water. ”Sit.”
“Now, what nauseatingly romantic thing are you wanting this time?” she teased.
“Well, Rogue’s playing his first gig tonight since forever,” Sting’s eyes blazed with pride, “So here’s what I was thinking.”
And as he began telling her what he wanted, she wasn’t disappointed. They chatted as she worked on Rogue’s flowers, and when the phone rang, Sherry answered it.
“Alright, I’ll give her your order, thanks!” Sherry spoke into the phone, “What’s that? Oh, yeah, got it! Don’t forget Hana’s flower crown, okay. No, he already paid for that as well as Gray’s arrangement. Thanks, Mira!”
“What do you think?” Erza showed Sting her finished arrangement, and his wide grin made her smile wistfully. She handed the flowers over and reminded Sherry to give him the frequent customer/family discount.
“Are you going to meet with us later?” Sting peered at her from behind the enormous bouquet, which Erza already knew Rogue was going to have a hard time moving around with. Hopefully, they’d thought to bring the stroller.
“I’m not sure yet, I have to go to Fairy Tail to drop off Natsu’s stuff, I’ll decide then.”
“Does that mean you’ll decide when you know whether Mira is going?” Sting regarded her with a knowing grin. “Seriously, Erza, are you ever going to do something? Your brother has discovered a whole new sexuality in the time it’s taken you to make a move.”
“Go away, Sting,” Erza muttered in annoyance but mostly because she knew he was right.
“Well, I hope you come,” Sting entreated, “it will be fun to have everyone together.” He struggled to balance the flowers in one arm as he paid for them and then left, nearly missing the door and walking into the wall because of the obstructed view.
Erza shook her head as she watched him leave, reminded of how similar he sometimes was to her brother. Filled with enthusiasm and energy, a bit silly, but with a good heart. They were also amazingly devoted partners, which was reflected in their grand romantic gestures.
How she’d wanted to do something special for Mira, she thought sadly. Maybe there was still time! But before she could give it any real thought, Sherry had given her the order she’d taken over the phone. It was for Mirajane Strauss.
Erza read the names of the flowers listed on the order again: red tulips, red roses, gardenias, and amaryllis. She scrunched up her face in distaste at the combination.
“You’re sure these are the flowers she wanted?” she challenged.
“Yep, she was especially adamant about the red tulips,” Sherry informed her.
Red tulips, red roses, gardenias, and amaryllis. Four species of flowers that looked so vastly different from each other that Erza wasn’t even sure she could combine them into an arrangement that would actually be aesthetically pleasing. But it was for Mira, so she was going to give it her absolute best.
It was for Mira.
Wait a second… Erza listed the order in her head once again with growing anxiety. It couldn’t be a coincidence that Mira had requested these flowers after she’d been looking in that book Erza had shown her during lunch break. They all referred to deep love, affection, and attraction. It was a love confession hastily pieced together in flower meanings.
Shit! Erza’s heart pounded in her chest, the fear that she might have waited too long making her feel light-headed. Who were these flowers for? Erza wracked her brain to think of anyone Mira might have mentioned recently. Mira worked at Fairy Tail, she got hit on constantly, but she usually just laughed it off.
They’d both dated people casually over the years, but it never lasted long, and they always returned to their comfortable camaraderie, laughing at how there was no one out there for them. Although in Erza’s case, what she really meant was there’s no one out there for me but you.
She reviewed the meanings in her head.
Red tulips - a declaration of love, perfect love
Red roses - the most classic of all expressions of love, a child could tell you what it meant.
Gardenias- a symbol of purity and sweetness
Amaryllis - splendid beauty
Every one of these flowers was like a stab to her heart.
“Did uhm, did she say she was picking these up herself?”
“No, she asked that you bring it to Fairy Tail along with Natsu’s stuff,” Sherry answered moving towards the back of the shop, where they kept overstock and orders they didn’t want to be mixed in with sale items, “I’m going to get his things from the back now.”
“Ah, okay, thank you,” Erza muttered, gripping the edges of the table tightly.
“Are you okay?” Sherry hovered over her in concern.
“I’m fine, just a little tired,” Erza smiled weakly.
“Do you want me to take over?”
“No!” Erza replied quickly, “It’s for Mira, I should be the one to do it.”
Sherry didn’t look convinced by her assurances, but she went into Erza’s office, returning with a glass of water and the box containing the cakes Mira had left for her. “Here, eat something, you never even finished your lunch. I’ll go pick the flowers, and you can arrange them, alright?”
Erza nodded gratefully, sitting down on the chair she had brought out for Sting. She opened the container, eating her cake but for once, finding no joy in it. She still managed to eat both pieces by the time Sherry came back, arms laden with the requested flowers.
“I’m going to lock the door. Otherwise, we’ll never be able to leave,” Sherry called over her shoulder.
Erza didn’t answer, already busy with the flowers on her work table. Well, there was nothing she could do; if Mira had given her heart to another, then she would just have to accept it. Mira deserved all the happiness in the world. They would still be friends and aunts to Natsu’s children.
She would make Mira the most beautiful bouquet that could possibly be made with these flowers, and she would even add her own well wishes to it.
“Sherry? Can you get me some red peonies, please?”
“Just a minute, I’m getting Natsu’s order.”
Erza arranged and rearranged, not satisfied with her efforts. She jumped when Sherry arrived with the flowers she’s asked for.
“More red?” Sherry wrinkled her nose in distaste, “Are you sure that’s what you want? That bouquet does not exactly scream love.”
“Actually, that’s exactly what it’s screaming,” Erza disagreed, showing her the piece of paper that she’d scribbled the order on. “The red peonies are to wish her luck.”
“Oh! Oh,” Sherry frowned, realizing what Erza was saying. She was about to say something else when there was a tapping on the door. A quick peek showed Ren and Chelia waiting for her outside.
“Do you want me to stay with you?” Sherry asked in a soft voice, “I can ask them to come back later.”
“Nonsense, go have fun with your family, I’ll see you on Monday!”
Sherry didn’t look convinced, but she gave Erza a hug, letting herself out and locking the door from the outside.
With no one left to act tough for, Erza let her tears flow as she continued to work, arranging and rearranging once again until she was satisfied.
0-0
Mira stood next to Natsu, both trying to stay on top of all the customers that had flooded the bar. She was growing increasingly nervous the closer it got to the end of her shift, knowing Erza would show up any minute. She’d bungled up more orders than she could count, having to resort to shameless flirting to keep from getting in trouble. Noticing her state, Natsu took pity on her, asking her to prep fruit for him while he handled the drink orders.
“It’s gonna be fine,” he assured her with one of his smiles, giving her shoulder a quick squeeze before moving on to a customer that was calling for his attention.
For most people, being handed a knife while they were in turmoil was a terrible idea, but for Mira, who had a knife in hand as often as not, it was fine. The repetitive action of cutting the lemons, limes, and oranges needed for drink garnishes was relaxing.
When she’d arrived back at work from her interrupted lunch with Erza, she had been excited about her idea. She’d written down the names of a bunch of flowers and their meanings, trying to construct a love confession in a language Erza would be sure to understand.
A few hours later, she had been wavering, scared that maybe she’d been reading the signals wrong all these years. If she went through with her plan, she would only be exposing herself to heartbreak and ruining the beautiful friendship she and Erza had worked so hard to sustain over the years.
There had always been so many reasons for Mira not to start anything. At first, it had been because they hadn’t exactly hit it off in the beginning. Then, when that had changed, it was because she was trying to sort out the mess Elfman had gotten himself into, especially after it had caused Lisanna to run away in fear. To Edolas, where she was followed by Natsu, and about two years later, they got married.
It had felt awkward to ask Erza out once they were linked by family, so Mira had dated others instead, trying to distance herself from the love and attraction she felt for Erza. None of them had worked out. Her heart just hadn’t been in them, and when the years hadn’t worn down her feelings one bit, she’d begun to think maybe it was time to take a chance.
But then Lisanna had died, and Mira had been grieving and trying to be there for Natsu, who was clearly falling apart. It was a new excuse but one that felt valid. After all, if she acted now and things didn’t work out between them, it would affect Hana and Atlas, which wasn’t fair to them. The last thing they needed was for their aunts, who each fulfilled a part of a female role model they missed so deeply, to be the cause of uncomfortable tensions.
Sharing babysitting duties with Erza and helping raise the kids had been fun, bringing them even closer together, but also filling Mira’s head with visions of what it might be like if the kids they were taking care of were theirs instead.
But it had been watching Natsu find love again with Gray that had truly sparked her to want to make her own move. If Gray, who had just come out of what was arguably the worst relationship ever, was willing to take a chance on a Dragneel, then why not her? And if Natsu, whose whole life had been turned upside down when he lost his wife granted himself another shot at love, then why shouldn’t she?
It felt right. Maybe that was just Mira's inner hopeless romantic speaking, but it spoke loud and clear, and she was done ignoring it. Besides, they had both turned thirty that year. Not that Mira felt old or anything, but she sure as hell wasn’t getting any younger either. She’d been looking forward to starting a family of her own for so long now. All she needed was someone amazing to start it with.
And Erza was amazing. She was smart, beautiful, and kind, and she had this awkward vulnerability that was incredibly endearing. Which was not to say that Mira wasn’t aware of her faults, like her stubbornness, and her fiery temper.
Mira knew that Erza wasn’t perfect, she was just perfect for her.
It had been Natsu who had encouraged her to make the call, telling her she would never know if she didn’t try, and Fantasia was a perfect occasion. He’d looked over the flowers she had jotted down, making his own suggestions.
“Here, do these. There’s no way she could mistake it,” Natsu assured her.
“How can you be so sure?” Mira asked, eyebrow raised in question.
“Because they all clash horribly in a mess of red that no sane person would ever like,” Natsu’s eyes crinkled with merriment.
Mira stared at him in disbelief and then began to laugh, “Is that what you did with Gray?”
“No, we were just honest with each other, but you two suck at that so gaudy bouquet it is!”
Mira had swatted at him playfully, but she had to admit he was right, she and Erza never seemed to be able to tell each other how they felt about each other, always tiptoeing around anything that might upset the balance they had achieved.
So she had made the call, relieved to hear Sherry’s cheerful voice answer the phone and now there was nothing left to do except wait.
Mira had sliced enough fruit to keep the night shift bartenders going through their entire shift, and still, Erza hadn’t arrived. She could see Makarov and Porlyusica already waiting outside with Atlas, Hana, and Wendy. Had she been held up at the shop?
A few minutes later, there was an unmistakable flash of scarlet, and she could see Erza talking to her foster parents, arms full of packages, with both kids latching on to her excitedly.
“You ready to go?” Natsu asked, signaling the end of their shift.
“As ready as I’ll ever be, I suppose,” Mira sighed, the natural confidence she usually exuded escaping her for once.
Natsu snickered and grabbed her hand, pulling her behind him as he weaved his way out of the crowded bar and to their waiting family. They were the last to arrive, and Mira was pleased to see that Gray had joined them, even if he was wearing a cap and large sunglasses. Elfman had made it too. Natsu let go of her hand, heading to Erza and asking for his purchases.
Once Erza had finished helping Natsu, she turned towards Mira. “I brought your order too, even added a touch of red peonies for luck,” she chirped with a fake cheerfulness that confused Mira, as she accepted the bouquet she had ordered.
She examined the flowers in her hand and immediately saw what Natsu had meant. As much as Erza had obviously tried to make the flowers she had requested look as appealing as possible, it was a cacophony of contrasting reds, loud and garish. Those flowers had no business being together. And apparently, Erza had felt the need to add her own touch to the mix, yet another red flower.
What the heck? Red peonies for luck? What did she need luck for?
Erza refused to meet her eyes, and if it hadn’t been for that odd phrase, Mira would have expected some yellow carnations in her future. When she looked at her more closely, Mira saw that Erza’s eyes were puffy as if she’d been crying recently.
Did something happen?
“Luck?” Mira blinked owlishly, trying to understand what was going through Erza’s mind.
“Yes, for you. So that you get the answer you want from whoever you give those to,” Erza managed an awkward smile that tore at Mira’s heart as she finally put two and two together.
“Whoever I give them to?” A laugh escaped her before she could stop it. The hilarity of the situation too much for her to handle. Here she’d thought she’d been as brazen as could be, and all she’d accomplished was to make Erza think they were for someone else.
Erza didn’t seem to know how to react to Mira’s outburst. She peered at her before once again looking down.
“They’re for you, you dummy,” Mira wiped her eyes, trying to ignore the fact that everyone in their group was staring at them with either curious eyes or knowing smiles.
“F-for me?” Erza stammered, her face turning as bright red as her hair once she realized her mistake. A tentative smile crossed her lips.
“Yes, for you,” Mira repeated, handing the bouquet over to Erza with a grin, waiting for her to say something.
“Did your added luck work in my favor?” Mira teased when Erza remained silent, although truth be told, she was starting to feel nervous.
Tears shimmered in Erza’s eyes as she nodded happily, taking out one last item from the bag she had brought from the store and handing it to Mira. It was the most beautiful bouquet Mira had ever seen, and she didn’t have to know anything about flowers to understand that Erza had poured all of herself into it.
They stared at each other, frozen in place by all the years they had spent hoping for this moment, imagining it in hundreds of different ways. Both desperate to take the next step but also terrified of what it would mean.
“Just kiss already,” Hana’s voice startled both of them out of their reverie, followed by the well-meaning laughs of their family and closest friends. She might have been only eight years old, but she’d managed to say what they had all been thinking.
So Erza and Mira did, neither one sure of who took the first step towards the other, or who’s lips pressed against who’s first. All they knew was that as awkward as the moment was, it was also perfect.
They were soon surrounded by the loud congratulations and, in some cases, happy tears of their family. Even though they were out in public, the promise of what was to come enough to make them both smile radiantly.
For the rest of the evening, they enjoyed the festivities with the others, walking hand in hand through the streets of Magnolia. They fed each other snacks from the many food carts that had gathered around the city center, watched Phantom Lord's live performance, slow dancing to some of their songs, and topping off the evening with soft kisses underneath the fireworks.
It was a beautiful evening, filled with more than they could’ve hoped for, but they both couldn't help but look forward to the moment when they were finally alone and could express their feelings more privately.

HAPPY belated HOLIDAYS
hi @temptationmirror i'm your secret santa ( @wolfstar-secret-santa ) !
first thing first, i want to apologize for this being late, i needed more time to finish it
second, i hope you like it, cause honestly, it could've been soooo much better
here goes nothing... :
September 1st 1977. No seventh year student liked the idea of this being the last time they take the Hogwarts Express as students.
I went through the platform and found my friends. First thing I saw were Remus and Sirius, snogging each other (see @upthehillart 's pic). Which is quite sweet considering it took ages for them to get together. Lily and James... just stood there blushing.
Just when I got to them, Remus and Sirius finished their session. Gazing into eachothers eyes, they were smiling like idiots. I looked at Remus in confusion. "Peter is already in the compartment, we wanted to wait for you." he said. I smiled, and nodded my head in thanks.
I was about to hug Lily but the train decided it's time for us to go. "This is our que!" James said eagerly, and with that, we went in.
***
I woke up to sound of chattering. I got up and saw Marlene and Alice talking. Marlene smiled at me: "I'm sorry we woke you up."
I laid back and turned to my nightstand. I sighed, loudly. "What?", asked Alice. I pointed at the clock. "Shit!", they said in union, "Lils get out of there, breakfast is about to be served!"
"Coming!", a voice came from the bathroom.
"L, are you coming?", asked Alice.
I just nodded my head and closed my eyes as I heard the dorm doors shut. After five minutes of blankly staring at ceiling, I decided to get up and dressed, but, of course, I could not find my uniform, instead, I found a not-so-covering piece of lingerie and a Slytherin, Slytherin robe.
***
As I, quite seductively might I add, walked through the Great Hall, every single pair of eyes was set on me.
Coming near the Gryffindor table I started walking a bit faster. Luckly, they were sitting close to the door. On my side of the table were Marlene, James, Remus and, bullseye, Sirius. I walked up to him and said: "Can I have a minute of your time?"
"What's fun in a minute?", he said, slowly turning his head towards me
"Oh, trust me, you're gonna like this minute!", I muttered and sat onto his lap.
"Sirius, dear, why, oh why do you propel this fate upon me, whereas I must look so slutty?"
"Well someone has to do it, right?" He smirked.
"Well, I must say, I quite li-" I saw his face, "Minnie is behind me, isn't she?"
"Miss Castle, I believe you should be in your uniform. May I ask, where is your uniform?"
I turned around and smiled at her, "I'm sorry professor, but you know it's our last year and I think the famous Marauders wanted to make last-year-first-day prank."
"Whatever you plan on doing keep it decent." she winked at us."Shame on you! If you do something like this again, there will be consequences." she announced.
"Our schedules?" Sirius asked.
"Here. Now off you go"
"Will do professor, will do." we said in usion.
***
After classes were over, we found ourselves sitting around one of the tables in the common room. "We have no other classes until after lunch, why don't we play a game?" James proposed with a mischievous grin. A loud "NO!" came out of Lily and Marlene's mouths. "After that fiasco with L from that morning, I'm not playing anything with you lot." continued Lily.
"Oh! That reminds me, can I keep it?" I asked, "Or, I can give it back, I thing Moony would like to tear it off you."
"No thanks." Remus chuckled.
"Moony would love to tear it off me, but I'll have to refuse. It pains me to say this, but it looks better on you."
"Did thee Sirius Black said someone looks better than him?!" Marlene posed.
"I did!" he said, fake fainted and started laughing. "Okay, that's great and all but still have an hour to kill before lunch, we should play something.", Peter announced, "why don't we play Pictionary or something?"
"But there's seven of us, we need an even number of players", Lily said.
"I had enough games for today I won't play" i said, "I'll sit around at laugh at you lot."
James, Sirius and Marlene whispered between themselves, when James asked: "What's Pictionary?"
***
I was out, walking 'round the lake when I decided it was too cold for me to be out so I went to the library.
I was walking through the muggle section of the library trying to find a good book to read when I found Remus and Lily sitting in a corner reading. I came up to them, sat down, waiting for one of them to look up. When Remus did, I nodded my head at the book he was reading. He said: "Picture of Dorian Gray."
"Is it good?" I asked.
"One of my favorites.", he said.
"What about you Lily?"
"I don't know.", she said desperately, "I just picked up a radnom book, and flipped pages…"
"Are you okay? Is something wrong? Is it Petunia?" Remus asked worriedly.
She put the book down, trying to compose herself. "It's James actually…"
"What do you mean 'It's James', is something wrong with him?" I questioned.
"No… I… maybe, just maybe, he isn't that bad. After the accident with Sev- well you know, he started acting differently. He's a good lad. And I thought I could give him a chance? I don't know, just don't tell anyone will you?"
In that moment I heard something fall. Hard. I promised Lily I wouldn't say a thing and excused myself.
I got out of the library and saw James standing over the stair railing. "James, are you okay? I heard something fall."
"Did you heard what she said?! She said she might give me a chance!" he yelled.
"Blody hell, James, don't yell! I promised I wouldn't say a thing!" He truned toward me, smiling like a dork.
"Merlin's beard, let just go…" I smiled to him.
***
I woke up, came down to breakfast, late, as always. Walking into the Great Hall, everyone was talking, which was odd considering food was on the table. Looking around I saw my friends and lounged toward them.
"Why is no one eating?" I asked, putting a piece of bacon in my mouth.
It was Peter who answered: "Dumbledore just announced that we're having a Halloween party, two free weekends, one now one before Christmas, except this Saturday when we have a Quidditch match against Hufflepuff, and there's gonna be a best costume competition (spoiler alert, Sirius won)."
"Well," I said and sat down, "that is a reasom not to eat."
"So, who are you going as?", asked Marlene.
I looked around, waiting for everyone to say their costumes. James and Sirius, as always, are going as Dumbledore and Minnie. Peter is going as a rat. Frank and Alice have no idea, but it's going to be a couple's costume, Marlene and Lily are also going together as Disney princesses, Aurora and Ariel, pretty sure that's Lily's idea. Remus is going as a comic book character Tony... Stank? Stark? Something like that. Then Marlene asked me: "What are you going as?"
"Well, there's this muggle movie that came out this year, it's called Star Wars. There's a princess in it called Leia Organa. I'm probably gonna go as her."
***
Week before Halloween, Marlene, Frank, James and Sirius were busy with practice so the rest of us were using our time to study.
When the weekend came all of us were excited for the first match this year.
I was strolling through the Entrance Hall with hands full of food I implored form the house elves. The match was near its end so I didn't bother climbing up the stands. I sat down and looked at the brooms, when the Hufflepuff seeker flew past me, Marlene was on his tail. It was too fast for me to see, but I'm pretty sure they crashed but we got out victorious. What I did see is Lily, running into James' arms and kissing him.
When the party and the euphoria were gone, and everyone went to bed, Jily, as Sirius likes to call them, stayed in the common room. And the rest of the bunch, myself included, sat in boys dormitory, playing games and joking around.
***
We were walking past shops in Hogsmeade when it started snowing. Boys went on the plain close to the Shireking Shack to make a snow-wolf. While we continued out Christmas shopping.
When we came out of Honeydukes, Alice asked us: "Beside Frank and me, who's staying here for the holidays?" On which Lily said: "I'm not going back until I have to, Petunia's been a real pain in the ass…"
"That and it's not safe with 'The Dark Lord' roaming, so I'm staying here too." Marlene added.
We stayed quiet for a while, the possibility of a war in our lifetime was heavy on us, we're just kids…
I spoke: "I'm going home, it's been a while since I saw my father…"
Next week went by fast, no exams, no papers, just excitement for the upcoming holidays.
When I got home it was late so I went straight to bed, when I woke up there was a letter on my desk. I took a letter opener and saw a single piece of paper, with eight different handwritings saying: 'HAPPY HOLIDAYS.'

"I missed you, you know?" with Mike x Reader for #fault, please? The ending with the Reader moving out was...oof. So good.
//I really liked Rayn O’Halloran’s character so I used him in this fic. Let me know if y’all want to read more fics featuring him.//
“So, I think I found a place,” you informed your brother and his wife during breakfast.
Your sister-in-law raised an eyebrow. “That was quick. Where is it?” When you told them where your new place was they exchanged looks.
“Uh, sis, that’s not exactly a good part of the city. Maybe you should wait to find something safer,” he said.
“There’s no rush to leave. We enjoy having you here,” she added.
“I can take care of myself. Plus I’ve never really been on my own. I’ve always had a roommate up to when I moved in with Mike. It’s something I need to do,” you explained.
“Fair enough,” your brother said. “When you’re ready we’ll get the rest of your things from Mike’s.”
A couple weeks later you were enjoying an ice-cold beer in your sparsely decorated yet chic apartment. I was a far cry from the apartment you had shared with Mike. There was no doorman, elevator, gym or pool in this building. In fact, you doubted it was even up to code but you didn’t care. It was yours.
You hopped up from your spot on the couch when the buzzer rang. “Yes?”
“I have a delivery for Ms. Y/L/N,” the male voice crackled over the speaker.
You furrowed your brow but buzzed him up. A young man was coming down the hall with a huge bouquet of flowers. Right away you saw the sunflowers and knew exactly who sent the arrangement. “Sign here please, ma’am.”
“There you are,” you said. After signing you dug into your shorts pocket for a tip.
“Thank you but it’s already been taken care of. Have a good day.” He smiled and turned to leave.
The flowers were a gorgeous mix of sunflowers, roses, and other brightly colored flowers. The fragrance of the flowers was already filling your senses. You loved freshly cut flowers and always had arrangements around the apartment. Taking a vase from under the cabinet you filled it with water then placed the bouquet and vase on the small coffee table.
Plucking the small card you recognized Mike’s scrawl. ‘Hope you have settled in your new place. Love you still. Yours, Mike’
Picking up your phone you sent him a text thanking him for the flowers then went about trying to figure out what to have for dinner. After eating a pot pie you took a shower and went to the kitchen to make tea. You smile to yourself. You were proud of you. At some point, Mike texted you back.
[from: mike 6:00pm] you are welcome. I’m here if you need anything. Night or day.
[to: mike 7:46pm] I appreciate it. Have a good night.
Over the next few months, you and Mike spoke to one another less and less. Then one day he called asked you to go to meet him for coffee on Saturday morning. Although you were a little reluctant you agreed.
“Y/N. You look beautiful,” he said and pulled you in for a slightly awkward hug. He tightened his arms around you.
“Mike. You’re squeezing me too tight,” you said.
He released you and an embarrassed smile crossed his lips. “Sorry. I’ve missed you, you know.” He directed you to a nearby table.
“I can tell,” you responded with a small smile of your own. You missed him too but not in the way he did you.
“I already ordered for you. Hope that’s okay.” He handed you a plastic cup with your favorite iced coffee. So, what have you been up to?”
“Thanks,” you said before taking a sip of your iced drink. “Working, going out with some of the people from work, reading a lot, and I started crocheting.”
“Cool. Maybe you can make me a warm hat for the winter.”
You chuckled. “Well maybe if I start now you might have it by next winter.”
Before you knew it two hours had passed.
“This is just like old times,” Mike remarked.
“Yeah. We have some really good memories,” you mused. Unfortunately, the bad times out shadowed the good, especially toward the end of your relationship. Glancing down at your watch you jumped up. “I gotta go. I’m gonna be late.”
“What? You have a hot date?” he said jokingly.
You froze for a beat and looked at him. “Um, well-”
“Oh, o-okay. Thanks for meeting me.”
“Mike, I’m sorry-”
He gave you a tight smile. “Don’t apologize.”
The two of you stood for a moment looking at one another. “It was good seeing you. Take care of yourself, Michael.” You leaned over and kissed his cheek then left the coffee shop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The restaurant was busy even for a Friday evening. You had been informed that it would be a thirty-minute wait for a table. It wasn’t a big deal. Ryan was running late anyway. You took a seat at the bar to wait and ordered a drink.
“Y/N?” A deep voice said behind you.
Slowly you turned toward the familiar voice. “Mike. Wow,” you said. Rising from your seat you gave him an awkward hug. “How have you been?”
“I’m good. You look great and just... happy,” he replied his eyes sweeping up and down your form. “How about you?”
“Great.” An awkward silence followed. “Umm, how’s your Dad?”
“I haven’t talked to him since our fight.” That had been an ordeal. You had almost been knocked out from a wayward punch when you tried to stop the scuffle.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” you said. It didn’t really surprise you that he broke ties with his father, you knew it was for the best. William could be toxic.
“It was for the best. Can't believe it’s been a year since I last saw you. So, what have you been up to?” he asked. “Did you get that hat crochet for me?”
“Uh, no. Turns out I can only make one chain.” You laughed nervously and pushed a strand of hair behind your ear.
Mike’s eyes landed on your engagement ring. “When did you get engaged?”
“Over the holidays,” you replied.
The smile on Mike’s face dropped. “Congratulations.” He took a sip of the drink that was in his hand, a gin and tonic if you weren’t mistaken. “Is he good to you?”
“Compared to who?” you asked with a raised brow.
A hand to your lower back caused you to startle. “Hey, babe. Sorry, I’m late. Court went later than I thought,” Ryan said as he came up beside you then kissed your cheek.
“That’s okay. Ryan this is Mike Dodds he’s a sergeant with SVU. Mike this is my fiance, Ryan O’ Halloran,” you said introducing the two men. “He’s a detective with CSU.”
“Nice to meet you, Mike. I’ve heard a lot about you,” Ryan said holding his hand out to shake Mike’s. You and Ryan had been open with one another from the start of your relationship. Both of you knew the other’s past.
Mike shook his hand. “All good I’m sure,” Mike said sarcastically.
Ryan chuckled. “Mostly,” he said his eyes assessing Mike.
The host approached you to inform you your table was ready and not a minute too soon. You could feel the tension between the two men. Especially from Mike.
“Thank goodness. I’m starving.” Ryan offered his arm for you slip yours through. “Have a good evening, Mike.”
“Goodbye, Michael,” you murmured. As you and Ryan walked away you turned to look back at Mike. He smiled and waved. You nodded and returned the smile. As much as you loved Ryan a part of your heart would always belong to Mike.

Christmas Eve felt almost like a desperate attempt for Annie’s parents to make up for the last couple months. Though, it obviously wasn’t enough and Annie couldn’t help pointing that out every chance she got. Whether she was being too harsh or not, she really couldn’t be bothered to give a damn. However, she would have been lying if she said she didn’t enjoy constantly pointing out their mistakes and affairs whenever she wanted to get away with something.
Of course it pissed her parents off, but it probably pissed them off more that Annie wasn’t wrong. It was using their failing marriage as a scapegoat that led to Annie being outside in the winter evening with a small wrapped package. The odds of running into Spider-Man were pretty slim, it was a holiday after all. Despite it only being six at night, the sky was dark with only streetlights, cars, and electronic billboards there to light the way.
The temperature drop that winter brought always left Annie cursing her choice to be a superhero instead of a street magician. She had even put a few shirts underneath the white hoodie she had on and she was still shivering. Stealing some electricity to attempt to warm up was her best bet, but even that wasn’t exactly working.
With the streets bustling with the absolute last-second holiday shopping, it was difficult to find any real crime going on as she lurked in an alley. That was when she heard a jump. Without giving it a second thought, Annie swerved around and launched the ball of electricity that was in her hand at none other than Spider-Man himself.
He quickly sidestepped the electricity and held his hands up, “Hey, it’s okay, it’s just me.”
Annie sighed a little, “You can’t just sneak up on me like that! If I hit you then that’s who knows how many volts straight to your chest.”
“Oh, it’s cool. Mr. Stark made my suit electricity-proof. Sorry I scared you, Swan. Merry Christmas, by the way. What’s that you’ve got in your hands there?” he asked, talking as though Annie hadn’t told him to leave her alone a week ago.
Annie glanced down and the package, “Um… it’s not much, but it’s for you, actually. Kind of a ‘Merry Christmas, sorry I yelled at you and I actually do kinda enjoy working with you’ present.”
“Well that’s great! I got something for you too! It’s not much either, but uh… it’s something I thought you’d like,” he replied, handing her something that was in a paper bag.
Annie handed him the wrapped parcel and took the thing he gave her, “You seriously didn’t have to,” she said, pulling out a long sleeved shirt.
“I should probably mention it’s got a little heater in it. I know you said to not follow you, but I saw you kept getting super cold and I uh- well I sort of stole it from Mr. Stark,” Spider-Man said sheepishly as he unwrapped his present to find a Santa hat.
Annie smiled a bit, “Thanks, that’s way awesome. I wasn’t really sure what to get you that you didn’t already have, and I know it’s super cheesy and I totally get it if you don-”
“It’s great, Swan, really, I love it, thanks,” he replied, hugging her.
She laughed a bit, “No problem, I’m just sorry I’ve been such a bitch, and I should probably apologize in advance for when the exact same thing happens again for whatever reason I decide to get mad again.”
“Hey, I get it. You’ve been alone awhile and you’re not used to having yours truly making things a bit easier on you,” he claimed.
She rolled her eyes and sighed, “Actually I get more nervous when you insert yourself and expect me to cover you. I mean, come on, my powers could crap out on me.”
“I don’t think that would happen, obviously your powers work better when your more emotional, so they work better when your stressed,” he said, shrugging.
Annie frowned, “You’re not wrong… but still, it’s so damn stressful.”
Feeling a huge sense of accomplishment at fixing things with Spider-Man, Annie was able to get back to her apartment with a weight lifted from her chest. With gifts already bought for everyone, there wasn’t exactly anything worth worrying about. Instead of going out to hang out with her parents, Annie spent the remainder of her night reading.
By the time morning rolled around, Annie was in the same clothes that she had been when she was reading. She couldn’t remember putting down her book or being on her bed in the first place. Still the computer monitor across from her confirmed that it was Christmas morning, and she crawled out of bed, heading out to the kitchen where a small Christmas tree was set up.
Underneath the fake, silver tree were a handful of presents. Two of them were for her parents and there were a few for Annie. She could tell that they were probably trying to compensate for the affairs, but she couldn’t have cared less. A part of her just liked having a scapegoat. Besides, it was more of a “being bitter about how her dad tried to explain her being a failed science fair project” thing rather than being angry about her parents cheating on each other.
The whole infidelity thing was their thing to solve and Annie wanted no part in it. She padded over to the coffee maker and put some water and more grounds in it before starting the machine. As it heated up, Annie checked her phone, tempted to call Harper and wake them up extremely early simply to be a pain in the ass. After a few minutes, she was just about to pick up her phone to dial her friend when she saw Harper’s contact name on the screen.
Annie answered, trying to not laugh and wake up her parents, “What the hell are you doing awake at like… four in the morning?”
“Because I know you and that you’d probably wake me up anyways,” Harper replied, a smirk audible in their voice.
Annie rolled her eyes, finding a mug to pour her coffee into, “Okay, but that doesn’t explain why you’d wake up so early.”
“Bold of you to assume I ever even went to sleep. I had gifts to wrap,” they said, sighing a bit.
Annie chuckled lightly as she poured some coffee in her mug, “Who are you spending all this time wrapping presents for?”
“My parents. If I wrapped all their presents for their godforsaken business partners then they said they would give me ten grand to do whatever I wanted with,” they responded.
Annie frowned a bit, “What do you need ten thousand for, exactly?”
“I’m splitting it up between charities and college. Did I mention that I heard back from NYU?” they asked.
Annie raised an eyebrow, retreating to her room and sitting at her desk, “Nope, I didn’t even know you were graduating early.”
“Oh, well, surprise, I am! And I heard back from NYU and their fashion program, so I’m just about set up to start there in September,” they said, yawning.
Annie’s jaw dropped, “Wait, so you’re, like, going to NYU, like, Manhattan?”
“Yeah, is there another one that I didn’t hear about?” Harper retorted.
Annie grinned, “That’s fucking awesome! You’ll be here with me and you can finally meet my new friends, it’ll be great!”
“What’ll really be great is when I can get out of this hellhole,” they muttered, huffing a bit.
Annie rolled her eyes, “Harper, you’re the kid of a CEO, people would kill to be in the position you’re in.”
“But what good is any of it if they’re not gonna pay for any of my school? They’re basically kicking me out after graduation, which might be for the better. I could just be talking too much,” they replied.
Annie took a sip of coffee, “Yeah, that might be it, you should get some sleep. You got my present in the mail, right?”
“Yep… I may or may not have opened it already,” Harper admitted.
Annie sighed, “Well, by the sound of that I’m guessing you liked it.”
“Obviously! New colored pencils like I’d been talking about… oh and I ate half of the almond butter you got me last night, whoops,” they said.
Annie shook her head, “Of course you did. Well, I’m glad you liked it.”
“Speaking of liking presents, I hope you liked what your friends got you. Especially that one Peter guy, he sounds really into you,” Harper started.
Annie felt her face go red, “I doubt it. He’s just a really nice guy. Besides, things are really complicated at the moment… the last thing I need is a relationship.”
“What’s so complicated about dating the guy you’ve been wanting to kiss?” Harper asked.
Annie stared at her coffee, only her breathing audible over the line, “Because there might be more than one guy I wanna kiss?”
“You know I hate it when you answer something like it’s a question. For fuck’s sake, please tell me you’re not into both of your guy friends? Or is it that one girl, Tina? You’ve been around her a lot, or Michelle?” Harper started to trail off.
Annie coughed, “No, none of them. Ned’s just my friend and Tina’s got her own shit. I don’t know if I know Michelle enough to be crushing on her.”
“Then who?”
“It’s stupid, really.”
“Not if it’s making you question everything you’ve been feeling for weeks.”
“I think I like Spider-Man. It’s just… he’s so damn infuriating, but I never wanna fight with him so we always get through our arguments and he’s just really sweet and funny and… I don’t know what to do, Harper.”
“Funny, you like them both for the same reasons… maybe you should wait it out,” Harper suggested, “But I gotta sleep otherwise I’m gonna blow up my parent’s place and then we’ll have a bigger problem than your boy troubles.”
“Alrighty, well I’ll talk to you later, then. Have fun sleeping,” Annie replied before the line went dead.
When Annie’s parents finally woke up, she made her way back into the kitchen. Though it was just her dad pouring himself a cup of coffee. Seeing him, Annie was just about to slip back into her room, but he already saw her so instead she sat at the dining room table. She was halfway through her cup of coffee and it was still warm.
“How’d you sleep?” he asked.
Annie shrugged, “Alright, I guess.”
“You must’ve been pretty tired, I walked in and you had your book on your face,” her dad replied, chuckling a bit at her.
Annie looked up at him, “So you moved me?”
“Well, yeah. I’m your dad, Annika, and sometimes I screw up, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t care about you,” he told her as he sat across from her.
She nodded, looking at her cup, “Right… are you being nice because you’re about to talk about getting a divorce?”
“No. God, no, Ann, we moved so we could fix things. We wouldn’t drag you out here to just give up now,” he said.
She sighed, “Okay, good. Otherwise I think I’d run out of here if you pulled that today.”
“I wouldn’t do that, we wouldn’t,” he assured her.
“We wouldn’t do what?” her mom asked as she padded into the dining room.
Her dad paused, drinking some coffee, “Get a divorce and tell her today.”
“Oh, sweetie, no. We’d stay married until you were an adult just so it wouldn’t feel like we moved for nothing,” added her mom.
Annie nodded again, not saying anything for a moment, “So… um… should we get to the fun gift giving thing? I kinda said I’d meet my friends to exchange gifts and stuff.”
“Yeah! Of course, of course! You’re gonna love what I got you,” her mom said, pulling a bagged present from next to the tree.
The gifts weren’t as much of pleas for forgiveness as Annie had expected. That was for the best, though, otherwise she may have felt a pang of guilt for using them so she could get out more often. She noticed that they did seem to get them with her interests in mind, though. Some soundtracks and books. Even a hoodie or two, her parents liked what she got for them. It was always hard with adults because the things they wanted were things that she would never get enough money to buy. Hell, some of the things they wanted had nothing to do with money. Not that she could blame them.
“Also, there’s one thing that we also got that we can’t really give you,” her dad began.
Annie’s russet eyes squinted, “What do you mean?”
“Well, tomorrow we’re leaving for a couple’s retreat to try and fix things. We thought the least we could do is make a real effort at trying,” her mom explained.
Annie nodded, smiling a bit, “When do you get back?”
“January second, we’ll be back early because classes start up the day after,” said her dad.
She smiled at the both of them, “Th-that’s great, actually, thanks you guys.”
“We thought you’d appreciate it because of how much these problems were meaning to you,” her dad replied.
The day passed by easier and for the first time in weeks, Annie felt comfortable as she moved around the apartment. Knowing that her parents didn’t just stop caring did leave her feeling lighter. Not to mention the ideas that were flooding her mind as she fully realized that they would be gone through new year’s. Though, those were plans to talk about when she saw her friends next.
Before she knew it, it was time to get to Peter’s apartment where she was supposed to meet up with Peter, Ned, and even Tina. Apparently they had talked to her before they asked Annie to come. It raised plenty of questions that Annie wasn’t even sure of how to ask. Still, she left her apartment with some ginger snaps that her dad had made as well as the gifts for each of them.
She made it to the other apartment without any issue and she knocked on the door. It had been so cold outside and Annie was left wishing that she had chosen to wear a better jacket rather than a sweatshirt. Not to mention how the presents had been kind of difficult to carry while walking a few blocks in New York traffic. Despite the holidays, the streets were as busy as ever. Though, maybe she shouldn’t have been so surprised.
Aunt May opened the door, smiling, “There you are! The others have been waiting. Merry Christmas by the way! How’s your day been?”
“Merry Christmas! I’ve actually been pretty great. My dad baked a ton of ginger snaps and I thought you might like some,” Annie greeted, nodding at the top box which was a tin.
May took the tin off the top of the pile, “Thank you, this is lovely!”
“No problem!” she replied, waltzing right into Peter’s room.
“Hey, look who decided to show up,” Tina commented, getting up to help Annie with the boxes.
Annie rolled her eyes, “Whatever, you guys told me to show up now, so there’s obviously something you’re all hiding.”
“You don’t know that!” Ned protested.
Annie smirked as she sat down on Peter’s bed, “Right, well I got all of you presents, so I expect only the best from each of you.”
“Annie! I told you not to get me anything,” Tina responded, crossing her arms.
Annie shrugged, “Well then I guess my hand slipped and wrapped something up for you.”
“You’re gonna love what I got you, go on, open it,” Ned insisted, handing her a box.
Annie opened it only to get a litter box and cat litter, “Um… okay, it’s great…”
“I told you it was a weak idea, I got you this,” Tina said, handing Annie a bag.
Annie got a food bowl with some cat food and she raised an eyebrow, “Did you guys… no. There’s no way.”
“Okay, you’ll love this,” Peter insisted, starting to burst out laughing as he handed his haphazardly wrapped gift.
Annie ripped the paper only to get cat toys, “Okay, there’s no way you guys got me a cat. No, I couldn’t, really, you guys.”
“Who said anything about a cat? We didn’t get you a cat,” Ned replied, only to be stopped by a meow that came from Peter’s closed closet.
Annie looked at the three of them and stood up, walking over to the closet and opened it. There was a cat carrier and in the carrier was a cat with patches all over its face and a crooked tail from where it had probably been broken in the past. She picked up the carrier and opened it, coaxing out the cat. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was opened and grinning. No words were able to leave her mouth.
Tina smirked a bit, “I’m guessing we did good.”
“What’s his name?” Annie asked.
“Well, the shelter named him Patches,” Ned said.
Annie scoffed, “That’s a dumb name… I think I’m gonna name him… Erik, yeah, definitely Erik.”
“Like The Phantom of the Opera? Come on,” Ned commented, laughing a bit.
Annie sighed, scratching the cat behind the ear, “I really can’t thank you guys enough, now I feel like I totally fucked up with what I got you guys.”
“Nah, there’s no way, let’s see them,” Ned insisted.
Annie handed each of them their presents, trying to gauge their reactions. Of course, none of them were exactly a pet that had been carefully hidden from her for the time that she had been there. At least they each kinda meant something though. Well, she hoped that they would.
Peter smiled, tugging the Santa hat on his head down a bit as he looked at the planner and pen, “It’s great, thanks,” he said as he opened it, reading the inside of the planner.
Because she hadn’t wanted to confuse Peter with the gift she wrote something. Though, it was possibly influenced by other feelings that were running through her head at the time. The note read: Peter, I know that half the time you’re a disorganized mess (in the best way, duh) and figured this might help in case you get super stressed. Even if it doesn’t, you can always call me or something. I don’t really know where I was going with this, but Merry Christmas!
Ned laughed a bit, beaming at the lego store gift card, “This is perfect! I could get a Millenium Falcon set with this, thanks so much!”
Tina carefully unwrapped her present, “I really didn’t need anything…” she looked at the journals and pens, “How’d you know?”
“I saw you in that stationery store… my hand slipped and bought a few things,” Annie claimed, shrugging.
The group spent so much time talking in that circle, somehow all huddled up on Peter’s bed. They squished between each other, and that was when Annie asked them to come to her place for new year’s. She’d even told them to spend the night if they wanted. It had been Ned’s idea to call and ask Michelle to join them. By the time they all left for their homes, Annie had plans for while her parents were gone.
When she got home carrying her cat and all the things to take care of him as well, her dad didn’t even try to protest it. All he said was that she had to take care of him and that he wouldn’t do it for her. Erik was a really sweet cat, wanting nothing more than to lay on her bed and be petted. At least, that was how he was acting right then. A part of her figured he’d start running all over the apartment like crazy in a day or two.
As she opened one of the plastic packages of toys, Annie noticed a small box. When she opened it, there was a necklace of a masquerade mask necklace. Her jaw dropped, hardly able to believe that Peter had gotten her anything aside the stuff for the cat. She really didn’t need or want anything else. Though there was also a folded up note that read: Annie, I know you said you just wanted a cat, but I thought you should have something else to. So I thought I’d let you know that you’re more of a Christine because you’re too good to be anything else.
That not was the only thing that she could think about until new year’s eve. It wandered into her mind when she worked with Spider-Man a couple of times that week. He was constantly wearing that Santa hat and Annie wore that shirt with a heater in it under her sweatshirt all the time. Though, just when she started bantering a little bit too long with Spider-Man, she couldn’t help but think about how much Peter had cared. It made her wonder if Spider-Man would do the same for her if he had the chance.
One right after the other, Peter, Ned, Michelle, and Tina came on in. It wasn’t like Annie had a huge party planned out, she just didn’t want to be alone for the holiday. Not when she could have the chance to stay up late with her friends. Even though Christmas had passed, Peter was still wearing a Santa hat like he had on Christmas.
“Pete, isn’t it a bit late for Santa hats?” Annie asked, toying around with the pendant on her necklace.
Peter’s face reddened, “N-no, I wouldn’t say so.”
“I think she’s got a point, unless you’re wearing it for a specific reason,” Michelle said, looking up from her book as she laid on the couch.
Annie chuckled a bit as Peter seemed at a loss for words as she poured some hot chocolate for all of them, “Don’t worry, it’s cute.”
“Enough flirting, you two, otherwise you’re both gonna need to find a room,” Ned commented, flipping through the channels on Annie’s television.
Peter frowned, “I-I wasn’t… we weren’t doing… a-anything.”
“So you weren’t flirting?” Annie asked, raising her eyebrows suggestively.
He shook his head, “N-nope.”
“Oh, okay,” Annie said, handing him a cup of hot chocolate.
The night went on as a group sleepover should. The group watched some dumb comedies while eating food and drinking warm drinks. It felt like things were just fine, and even Tina appeared to be relaxed around all of them. Both her and Michelle seemed to enjoy being left on their own to read or write while Ned, Peter, and Annie were left to do most of the talking.
As midnight drew closer, Annie looked at the others, “Hey, what do you guys think of some champagne to ring in the new year?”
“I can’t have any… I’ve been going straight, but I can watch you guys to make sure no one does anything dumb,” Tina offered.
“Alright, what about the rest of you guys?” Annie asked as she got up from her comfy chair.
Ned and Peter shrugged, “I guess it’s cool with us,” Ned replied.
“You could hit me up with two if you wanted,” Michelle responded.
Annie laughed a bit, “Okay, I’ll be right back.”
In a few minutes, Annie was back with a glass that was generously full for everyone. She’d filled the glass for Tina with some sparkling cider because everyone deserved a nice new year’s drink. It was five minutes until 2018 and Annie had a decent feeling about the new year. They all talked about what they really wanted to do for that year and all the things that they hoped would happen.
“I just wanna get an apartment and start over, you know? Just have everything be fresh and to move on finally,” Tina said, cheating and sipping some of her drink before midnight.
Michelle nodded, “Fair enough, I want some more books and more time to read them, honestly.”
“If I managed to pass this next semester I’d be happy, but really I just want to prove I can do stuff, like, theatre or something else, just I don’t want to be doubted,” Annie admitted.
Ned sighed a bit, “I wanna hack some stuff, nothing huge, but just enough to where it’s super cool.”
“Yeah… I-I think I want my internship to go further, I’m doing a lot already, but I wanna do more,” Peter said, looking at the clock.
Ned grinned, starting to count down, “Five. Four. Three. Two. One…”
“Holy shit it’s the new year!” Annie exclaimed, drinking her champagne.
They all started drinking, Peter seeming to be almost unaffected by it. Michelle went back to her book, drinking and not paying too much attention to the others. Ned and Annie, however, were tipsy halfway through their glasses. Everything seemed to be so funny and Annie wasn’t sure why. And Peter looked so damn cute and she wanted to pull him close and kiss him. She wish she’d done that already, why hadn’t she?
By the time she finished her glass, she wasn’t exactly herself when she talked to her friends, “Y’know, ‘m real glad y’guys came… I woulda been so depressed if I’re by m’self.”
“Yeah, me too, ‘m happy I came,” Ned replied and the pair started laughing, “Y’know, ya should talk to Peter, he wants to tell ya somethin’.”
Annie giggled, pulling Peter closer a bit by his sleeve, “C’mon, tell me in my room.”
She dragged him right to her room and she sat on her bed, patting the space next to her. When he sat down she had her arms around him and buried her head into the crook of his neck. Annie hummed happily, starting to play with Peter’s hair.
“What did ya wanna tell me?” Annie asked, looking up at him.
Peter shook his head, “You’re drunk, it’s a terrible time to tell you.”
“Oh c’mon!” Annie whined, pouting.
Peter sighed, “Nope. But did you wanna tell me something?”
“Well, yeah, you’re real cute, just all the time. An’ I can’t understand why you won’t like me back, but everyone says you do,” Annie replied.
Peter smiled a bit, his cheeks flushing, “Really?”
“Yeah,” she said, looking at him and yawning, “I should sleep though, I feel like you’re trickin’ me into sayin’ too much.”
Peter nodded, pulling back the covers and helping her lie down, “Can ya stay with me?” Annie asked.
Peter thought about it a moment and nodded, “Sure, yeah.”
Annie pulled him close, wanting to feel him so close to her and Peter didn’t mind. Though he also wondered how much of it was real and how much of it was just her being drunk. At the same time, he didn’t want her thinking he was a creep, so when she fell asleep he left the bed and slept on the floor.

Chapter Six
The week leading up to the Fourth of July is busy. The holiday falls on a Saturday and Jefferson plans to start rolling on Tuesday. And since it’s a trial run - they’ve only been promised a dozen episodes - they run on a skeleton crew: her, David, Jefferson, and a local woman she’s never met named Ruby. She works part time with them, getting B roll on the days they go out to sea, and part time for her grandmother’s diner, the infamous Granny’s.
It’s while Emma’s atop a ladder placing a mounted camera that she meets Ruby for the first time. She’s got her headphones in, blocking out the shouts of the crew she still hardly knows and the click of heels coming her way. She nearly bites off the tip of her tongue – it tends to jut out when she focuses really hard on the task at hand – when the metal shakes beneath her. Dropping the screwdriver in her hand, Emma grasps at the top rung and when the earthquake stops, she whips around to see the culprit.
She’s not met the stark blue eyes she’d thought she would, but instead warm brown ones outlined with a cat’s eye and perfectly coiffed eyebrows.
“What the fuck?!” Emma yells, ripping her earbuds from their place and trying to bring her breathing back to a normal rate.
“Ooh, the mouth of a sailor,” the woman purrs with a smirk. “I like you already.”
As calmly as she can, Emma descends the ladder to give the stranger a piece of her mind. “The fuck are you? Do you understand how much that camera costs? Would you have paid for it if it broke, ‘cause I sure as hell wouldn’t have!”
The woman shakes her head, trying to rid herself of the grin across her lips, only to fail. “Good thing it didn’t break then. Sorry, babe.” She holds up a small brown bag. “Just wanted to see if you were hungry.”
Ever since their meeting, Emma’s noticed there’s a weird sort of chemistry between Ruby and…well, pretty much anyone over the age of 16 she interacts with. She flirts shamelessly with everything legal, sending winks to the Jones brothers and trailing a lingering finger across Scarlet’s chin. It’s not always innocent, but Emma finds herself somewhat attracted to Ruby’s sense of recklessness.
(It might also be the small fact that Emma hasn’t been given a pet name like babe since him and, as off-guard as it caught her, it’s nice to have one again.)
But what draws Emma back to her new friend again and again is her way with her son. Henry’s really taken with her and Ruby’s taken to treating him like a little brother. Every time they visit the diner, Ruby insists on serving them, even if they aren’t in her section or her shift’s just ended. She’ll come along and greet them – a wink or a kiss on the cheek for Emma and a noogie or high five for Henry.
And Emma notices she takes the time to talk to both of them, which settles her motherly instincts. She wants to be a part of both of their lives, not steal her baby boy away from her. She’ll slide in next to Henry after delivering his chocolate milk and her coffee, ask him about his plans for camp and ask her about her plans for her day on the boat.
“Does Jones know you call the Jolly Roger a boat?” Emma chuckles one morning over a glass of orange juice. Her eyes connect with Henry’s, which show his smile even as he takes a bite of his toast.
“No, but it is, and he’s never going to find out.” Ruby glares down at Henry menacingly. “Right?”
Henry shrugs and hides behind his chocolate milk. “I don’t know why you’re looking at me, I’m not gonna say anything,” he grumbles.
She’s nice, Emma finds herself thinking more often than not. Sassy, but stern. She sees that the one afternoon when Ruby’s babysitting for a couple of the neighborhood kids. She slaps them across the back of the head when the boneheads nearly get run over by a passing car. One of the boy blushes furiously, Emma can tell from her spot across the street, but then Ruby pulls him in for the sidehug and everything seems peachy between them.
Once school starts up and Mary Margaret’s busy being a teacher instead of a camp counselor, maybe Emma will ask the waitress to watch Henry after school.
If only things were working as well on the decks of the Jolly Roger as they were on the streets of Storybrooke. Once they’ve mounted the cameras in their assigned places on their assigned ships – a task that takes far longer than it should, in her humble opinion, the last ones being installed the morning of the Fourth – Emma trades places with David to check the sturdiness and clarity on the Jewel. It’s customary, something they even used to do back at school: check each other’s work, offer suggestions, and work together to get to the best ultimate end.
(It’s not cheating if they did their own base work, or at least that’s the lie they told themselves.)
She’s precariously balanced on the top step of the ladder, reaching for a camera pointed outwards instead of downwards, when a low timbre voice speaks from behind her. She jumps, making a tinny noise from the contraption beneath her feet.
“Christ almighty,” she whispers, catching herself.
“Sorry, lass,” Liam apologizes, gently righting her and resting a foot on the bottom rung. “I didn’t mean to frighten you too badly.”
Emma chuckles to cover up how surprised she was by the elder Jones’ appearance. “No, it’s fine. I’ll just resign myself to not seeing my son married off because you took a decade off my life,” she quips.
That earns her a scoff and a shake of Liam’s head. “Now, Emma, there’s no need to be dramatic.” Emma rolls her eyes and is about to respond, but he holds up a finger to keep her from speaking. “I was wondering if you would like to come watch the fireworks on the Jewel.”
“Oh,” she hesitates, looking down. “I mean, I would love to, but-”
“Your boy can come,” he interrupts her again. Raising her eyes a tad, Emma watches Liam bend down to catch her sight. “You know, you don’t have to keep him locked away, Emma. We all understand: you’re a single mother and you want to keep your private life private.” She doesn’t say anything because that’s not exactly false, but it’s not the exact truth either.
Liam sighs. His hand slaps on the metal of the ladder, sending vibrations of sound and sensations up her legs to her arms resting on the top rung. “I don’t know if Killian’s told you or given you the idea, but we’re all family here. We spend holidays together and go out to the pub after rough days.” Leaning forward, Liam says, “One day, you’ll need someone to lean on. And when that day comes, I want you to know that your shoulders can relax around us.”
Pushing off the ladder and waving her down, he adds, “And if these pricks won’t calm you down, then I will,” with a gentle smile.
Emma reaches the solid deck and rests her hands akimbo on her hips. “You know, you’re a lot nicer than your brother,” she tells him, squinting to see his face around the bright sunlight.
“He’s really a good man,” Liam says around a chuckle. “His heart is always in the right place. Or at least close enough to it.” He bends slightly forward, making his facial features a bit more visible. He’s got his brow cocked, which she’s swiftly learning is the Jones family sign for impending stupidity. “You should give him a chance.”
“Oh, that’s rich.” She can’t help her response. It’s textbook dickhead: send in the wingman to talk up the targeter. “So he’s sending his big brother in with a solid word.” Emma scoffs and rolls her eyes. “Nice.”
“No, he hasn’t said a word to me.” That surprises her, to say the least. Even from the few interactions she’s caught between the brothers, she wouldn’t put it past Liam to be talking his little brother up. Well, she would put it past Liam to actually follow through with it, but she wouldn’t put it past Jones to ask for his older brother’s assistance.
Liam points an accusatory finger at her, making her go cross-eyed. “But I know him,” he continues. “I’ve seen when he’s interested in a woman.” With a satisfactory grin, he brings his hand down and crosses his arms across his chest proudly. “And he’s got all the tell-tale signs.”
Emma shrugs like his words don’t spark a little something within her. “Doesn’t matter. I don’t really date.”
“Henry?” he asks shortly.
“Mhmm,” she hums.
“Surely you’ve dated in the past decade.”
She shrugs again, walking down the stairs to the main deck, expecting Liam to follow. From the footsteps clunking behind her, she isn’t wrong. “It’s been hard, but there has been the odd occasion where I’ve managed a long enough break from parenting,” she explains. But then she twirls around, grimacing at him and furrowing her brows. “Why are we even talking about my sex life?”
A smug smile spreads across his face. “Because, as an older brother, I love to make people uncomfortable.”
She scoffs out, “That’s obvious.”
But, regardless of the awkwardness he might cause her, Emma finds herself taking him up on his offer a few hours later. She and Henry walk down the docks maybe an hour before sunset, only aware of where they’re going from the loud voices and boisterous music coming from the only lit vessel in the harbor. Coming aboard, Emma is immediately whisked off by Robin to be introduced to his wife and son. When she looks over her shoulder, she catches Ruby waving at her, a friendly arm slung around Henry, gently leading him toward the group of kids with sparklers.
For the first time since moving to Storybrooke, she’s actually having fun. Both the Jewel and Jolly Roger crews are there, plus many townsfolk she hasn’t ever seen. She should’ve expected that, what with the pure amount of people on the deck at once, but it still surprises her. Robin’s wife Regina is a tad cold, but when she sees Emma interact with their son Roland, her icy heart seems to melt. Ruby’s pulling her over every couple of minutes to throw back a shot –
“Ruby, I’ve got Henry.”
“You’re walking home, you’ll be fine. If you forget him, someone’ll bring him home.”
“Great, there goes my mother of the year award.”
– at the makeshift bar in the galley. And it’s all really, really fun.
It’s late in the night, way past Henry’s bedtime slightly-more-than-tipsy Emma idly realizes, when the fireworks shake her heart and her eardrums, that she realizes the magnitude of tonight. It’s the first time in a long time that Emma’s celebrated a holiday with someone other than Henry. And she loves her son more than anything in the world, but being able to casually drink a beer with Mary Margaret and discuss the state of the Patriots’ upcoming season with Robin and David makes her feel like the adult she really is.
“What do you think?” She drags her eyes away from the bright lights in the sky long enough to find the bright blue eyes of the younger Jones brother. “How does the small Maine town’s display compare to the big city’s?”
She shrugs. “I wouldn’t know. We didn’t see fireworks last year.” But she furrows her eyebrows, because that doesn’t sound right. The fireworks got rained out last year, didn’t they? Or was that the year before and last year was the summer the arches of her feet sweated profusely? She shakes her head and looks back at him. “I don’t really remember.”
Tilting his head to the side, Jones grins. “Still.” He pauses, just lets the quiet grow between them, only once interrupted by an explosion. “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours, Swan?” he asks quietly.
She smiles and sends him a wink before looking back at the sky. “None of your damn business, Jones.”
Much like the rest of her evening, her remaining two days of freedom go by quickly. Naturally, she spends every waking hour with Henry. Knowing the grueling and unpredictable schedule she’ll be forced to adhere to for the next couple of months, she wants to stock up on some good quality mother/son bonding time while she can. They sleep in late on Sunday and make a mess of their new kitchen cooking an unnecessarily large brunch. Emma pulls him out of camp on Monday and they go to the pool, unpack a little more, and fall asleep on the floor of the living room in a wonky little blanket fort.
It’s way too late – just after midnight, if her blurry eyesight is to be trusted – when she wakes up and forces Henry into his own bed. Once he flops on his mattress all caddywhompus, she falls gracelessly into her own bed without brushing her teeth and sinks back into unconsciousness.
Emma wakes up the morning filming is supposed to start and finds it entirely too difficult to get out of bed. After waking up halfway through the night and the gray, rainy morning, texting Henry and beckoning him to come and hang out in her big bed sounds like the best idea in the world. It’s been a while since she pulled the mom card and pulled her son into her arms and forced him to snuggle with her.
Alas, she tears herself from the warmth of her blankets and into the bathroom. She showers, washing the sleep from the corner of her eyes and the kink in her back from sleeping on the floor. She dresses comfortably and as water repellently as her current wardrobe allows.
(She really hopes she doesn’t get soaked. She’d rather not get wet at all, but working on a boat on a rainy day, she sees little chance in that all happening.)
Peeking into Henry’s room, she finds him still fast asleep. It’s early, he doesn’t need to be at camp for another hour and a half at least, so she lets him be. As quietly as she can, Emma opens the door, walks in, and presses her lips to his cheek, the only part of his face not covered by blankets or pillow.
He hums and mumbles, “Be careful, Mom.”
Chuckling, she reassures him. “I will, kid.” Pressing another kiss to his cheek, she can’t help the grin that spreads across her face. “I love you. Have a good day.”
He hums again and shifts in bed, moving so only his one leg hangs dangerously (and certainly uncomfortably) off the edge of the mattress instead of both his feet. She hears his breath even out as he falls back asleep before she’s even left the room.
Whipping her phone from her back pocket, Emma texts Mary Margaret as she walks down the stairs, asking her to get Henry up and to camp on time. She gets a way too perky response as she chokes down her coffee, assuring her not to worry, and then she’s tying her shoes, checking her camera gear, and heading down to the docks.
The rain has let up, thankfully, since she woke up, so the short drive down to the water isn’t as painful and treacherous as she thought it was going to be. Originally, Emma had planned on arriving just in time for them to ship off for the day, but it seems the weather and her quicker-than-expected drive gets her to the Jolly Roger while the crew is still bringing aboard supplies.
She unloads her equipment from the trunk of her Bug, hitching the stabilizer to her body but carrying the camera in her hand until she’s on the boat. Once she figures her way back to the Jolly Roger, Scarlet greets her on the slats of wooden dock, carrying a coil of rope up to the deck in front of her.
“Are you filming yet, luv?” he asks with some effort over his shoulder.
“No,” she says as he slams the rope down next to a barrel.
Scarlet rolls his shoulders back and stretches. “Good, make sure you get ma good side.”
“Sorry to say, mate, you won’t be making it on the show then.” Jones happily steps up from the galley, slapping his friend on the shoulder in good humor. Scarlet groans and hits him back, then goes beneath deck, mumbling something or other.
Turning to her with a bright smile, Jones asks, “So, Swan. Ready for an adventure?”
Emma shrugs, quite the endeavor with sheer poundage of equipment hanging off of her. “I’m ready for whatever today brings, I suppose.”
He claps her on the back, too, almost throwing her off balance and causing her to faceplant on the - hopefully clean - deck. “That’s the spirit,” he commends her. He leans closer to her, his lips hovering just above her ear. “Just remember: the goal is to come home. All of us. So if the lads yell at you to move, please move, love.”
Solemnly, she nods. “I’ll do my best.”
With a single nod, Jones grins at her again and begins the ascent to his post. “We’re heading out, boys!” he yells. “To your stations!”
“Guess that means we’re starting,” Emma mumbles to herself. “A little more warning would’ve been nice, but noooo.” Flicking the switches on her equipment – mics, stabilizers, backup battery pack – she hefts the camera onto her shoulder and braces herself. “Alright, let’s do this thing.”

Yesterday a friend from work and I went out to eat after we finished our shift and we legit spent 3 hours in McDonald’s, most of that time was spent talking about me and Jason and what’s going on with us right now. Janna is honestly the best person for me to talk to about Jason because, even though she usually works a different shift, she still sees him and works with him a bit too, and generally is able to joke around with him like I do. So she knows him, knows what he’s like, etc. Whereas anyone else I try to talk to about him, they don’t know him. They just know the things I tell them about him. So I generally get responses like, “You need to get over him, it’s never going to happen. You’re just hurting yourself!” or “He’s a player! He keeps telling you he’s not ready for a relationship, but there’s a silent ‘with you’ tagged to the end of that! He’s got his eyes on someone else! He just wants to have his cake and eat it too!” and “He’s a jackass! You need to just cut him out of your life completely! He’s trouble and not worth your time or worthy of your friendship!”
Janna knows him, though. And so she didn’t say any of those things. Instead she told me how obvious it is that he cares about me. How obvious it is to everyone back there who knows us, and has seen us together, how much he cares about me. That he’s not a player, because if he were a player, he would have been trying to get in my pants as soon as I walked in his door either time I’ve been to his house. How he would have stopped talking to me after he’d “gotten what he wanted”. Instead, he had tried to be good that first night and wasn’t going to kiss me until I had needled him into doing it. He gave me an option of if going to his room was okay or not. Things a player wouldn’t have done. We talked for a good long while about how it sounds like right now he’s confused af, and not sure what he wants. He keeps saying he’s not ready for a relationship, but has been very nearly on the edge of one with me for a long time, and to her it sounds like it’s confusing him -- tearing him in two different directions of wanting to be in a relationship with me, but not feeling as if he’s ready to risk it again just yet. I told her how his ex was the one who left him and took the kids with her, and Janna agreed with me that having that happen to him was no doubt traumatic and has left him scared to let someone get close to him again.
The great thing about Janna is that she’s been through enough shit in her short life, and has been through treatment and therapy enough, that she’s able to read people and emotions and everything, so she basically told me -- after I filled her in a bit more on what he’s actually like and what he’s like with me and everything -- that not only does he sound like he’s not sure what he wants right now, and is scared, but also sounds like he’s insecure (his hesitance to put his arm over me the last time he and I shared a bed) and has depression -- which explains the being distant with me but still trying to communicate with me and keep me in his life even though he just isn’t showing much interest in anything at the moment. She also said that by me filling in the gaps of his memory with the important conversations me and him had that one Saturday night, that he probably realized he gave away more than he planned to and now is scared because I know these things, things he probably hadn’t meant to tell me. She said he sounds like he’s one of those drunks that’s an honest drunk, and that he wasn’t just telling me things I wanted to hear, that he was telling truths that sober him would be too conscious of to even consider telling me. When I mentioned that he apologized for hurting me by telling me to give up hope, and that he really doesn’t want me to not have hope about there being a chance for us, and that it has absolutely nothing to do with me, that he just really wants to try and be a good father for his kids right now, Janna was quick to point out that given the fact he appears to be a truthful drunk, if he were fucking Purple Hair Chick, then he would have said, “There’s not gonna be an us cuz I’m already sleeping with someone else.” or “look, I’m sorry, but I’m not looking for a relationship because I’m just looking for something causal, which is what I have with Jen.” He wouldn’t have been able to stop himself from bringing up someone else if he were already messing around with someone.
Of course, Janna then had to go on and analyze me. She told me my own anxieties about me and him come from my own insecurities. Which, she’s not wrong. I know I’m insecure as fuck, but that’s cuz no one has ever given me a reason not to be insecure. I have forever been that “great friend, but that’s it”, so the fact that there’s even the slightest possibility of something between me and Jason has me going, “Wait, why me? Why would he want me, when there’s Purple Hair Chick? Or anyone else?” Janna said that my insecurities and self-esteem have me pegged so low that even the lowest of the low (i.e. Purple Hair Chick) rank higher than myself. I’m trying to work on that, I really am. Which is why I’m trying very hard not to keep looking at my phone every 5 minutes and trying very hard not to get disappointed anytime I see I have a text message but it isn’t from him. I know he has his kids this weekend, and at least last night also had a niece over along with them. He’s been busy spending time with them and I know that. So even though there are currently 5 unanswered texts from me to him (three from last night cuz pretty sure he fell asleep, he was struggling to stay awake while we were texting to begin with; and two from today), I’m trying not to let it get to me. I’m also resisting the urge to text him again just to say hi or goodnight or something...not sure how well I’d be able to handle there being SIX unanswered texts sitting there staring back at me. So, I’m trying to leave him be and to let him spend time with his kids. I know he’ll text when he gets the time, or something. He’s not trying to cut me out, I know that. I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
He’s already told me once that holidays are hard for him ever since the ex left and took the kids. So Janna suggested I just give him time. Be there for him as much as he’ll let me, don’t abandon him and don’t abandon hope, but just wait things out until after the holidays and see how he acts once they’re over. He’s under a lot of stress right now with work (two helpers who are of next to no help and a manager who is also fairly useless), the holidays (the ex getting pissy because she’s the one buying all the presents for the kids cuz he doesn’t exactly have a way, or the time, to go shopping for any), and on top of it all, his mother is coming into town on the 23rd. Apparently he’s fine with her visiting for a few days, but anything more than that and the shit hits the fan. She’s planning to stay until after New Years; he’s planning to spend as much time at work as possible.
Three people now have told me he sounds like he doesn’t know what he wants right now. Two of those three have told me to give him time, to be there for him; the third told me it’s not fair to me and to put space between me and him. Of the two who told me to give him time, one said he’d pray for me that things will work out between us. I really hope they do. Jason has saved me in so many ways, every day. Little ways and big ways. And I wanna believe that I’ve saved him in ways, too. I know I’ve talked him off ledges before so that he didn’t quit his job and screw things up for himself. He helped me realize I was finally over Eric. Things are so easy with him. I’m normally so awkward in other people’s houses, in his I literally felt instantly at home. Both times I stayed over it felt natural to just go to his room and curl up in bed with him and go to sleep. I want so much to be a part of his life, and for him to be a part of mine. I refuse to believe that everything has just been coincidental about him and me. There’s been too much, too many times. And we’re not gonna discuss the fact that I would like very much to meet his kids one of these days. I don’t think he’s necessarily opposed to the idea of me meeting them, I just haven’t because I know his time with them is limited and I don’t really want to encroach on that. They obviously at least know I’m a friend of his because they asked him to ask me to draw them a Batman symbol (his son) and a unicorn (his daughter).
People keep asking me what I want for Christmas, and I have to just shrug and say I dunno, cuz in reality what I want is for Jason to at least try to give “us” a chance. Or to tell him I want just one night to pretend like there’s an “us”: I wanna be held, I wanna be kissed, I wanna slow dance in his living room with nothing but the lights on the tree shining, I wanna feel like I’m truly special and important to him (and yes, that includes I want him to take me to bed in a way that has nothing to do with just cuddling up to sleep). That probably sounds desperate or pathetic, and it’d probably backfire on my emotions horribly, but there’s a part of me that believes if I told him that’s what I want for Christmas, he’d probably do it. I just don’t want to risk ruining anything between us.
Like Janna told me, he’s confused and confusing. And I know I’m definitely confused as fuck still about so many things with him. I just know that my crush on him isn’t fading, at all. It’s still going the opposite direction and is in fact still getting deeper. Probably not a good thing.....

Get Back
Looking backwards more than a day can be a bit fuzzy sometimes, even when I’m at home in Seattle. Ever since Saturday night, this band has been on the run, waking up in different countries, condensing our days into bursts of local culture, most of which I haven’t experienced before this trip. So, keeping in mind how unequipped I am to produce an answer most days in Seattle when the barista asks me how my weekend was or what I’ve been up to, hopefully you’ll excuse any swiss cheese in the tale of this past weekend.
I remember it was warm and sunny as we loaded out of Lovenich. I left my trunk in Alwin & Petra’s front room, stuffing all I hoped I would need for the next two weeks into my laptop bag. I stashed my stocking cap in the glove compartment and my spare pair of pants into my guitar case. Good to go. Traveling light.
It’s a short drive to Koln, but I still managed a nap. When we rolled into town I was just coming up to have a look around. Only two wrong turns and we were passing by the front door of the Sonic Ballroom. A street fair had us blocked off from parking at the front door of the joint, which was a bit of a drag, but on the other hand -there’s a street fair.
We wedged the van into a space up the block from the club, and did the only thing we could -off to mingle among the Kolnians and figure out what this street fair business is all about. There’s a long, not square block all around the gig, right at the front door was a DJ spinning dance tunes to a packed street of people standing, walking or milling about, but none dancing. Elbowing through to the next gap in the crowd, we regrouped in band formation, and turned the street corner. The long side of the block had tables & kiosks selling random wares, used clothes & chilly beers. Aimee picked up a bottle of Kolsch, which sounded like a good idea, so I followed suit. About the time we cleared the block, and the beers, it was time to load in.
We had used the backline drumset & bass amp at Kultus, so this was the first time using our own drums, and getting a feel for the rental bass amp. The club is small, but Udo, our sound engineer, was putting mics on everything. The gig was going to be loud. We had a local band (well, from dusseldorf) opening the night, and a DJ ready to keep the volks dancing all night after our set. the greenroom was upstairs, and getting there was only achieved by going behind the bar and climbing a steep, odd staircase that had me tripping every time I went up. The dimensions of the rise & run changed at the first landing. The second set of stairs was slightly less trippy, but equally wrong to feet accustomed to standard american staircases.
Upstairs we had a full kitchen, with two pans full of rice & curry, about a dozen bunks, and two cases of beer. Most of our short-term needs were fully met. A comfortable sense of detachment sets in on nights like this, -no stresses about anything outside of what we’re gonna do on the stage. All we’re doing is what we came here to do.
—
Aimee & I took another stroll through the street fair, while the opening act was getting going. We returned our empty bottles from that afternoon, and staked out the parties we wanted to hit after the gig. When I got back to the club the opener was hitting their stride. -A pop-punk group that called themselves the Artiklees, five-piece, a stratocaster & a rickenbacker, backed up by a white-on-white P-bass. Clean and punchy tones, a heavy-hitting drummer and an animated lead-singer hopping out onto the mostly empty dance floor.
It was a pretty decent bill, stylistically, but as we took the stage I had a sense that we were probably going to take the room to another level. I ain’t bragging. I’m just saying. We tore into the set, hitting all the heavy Del Vox numbers and digging back into Sherri’s older catalog for all the hard hitting tunes we could cram into one set.
Like most times when I’m on stage, it was roughly halfway through the set before I opened my eyes & looked out in front of us. The floor was full. Longhaired leather jacket types, punks, heavy eyeliner, all kinds. We were firing on all eight cylinders, and when we got to the end of our set, the people were just getting started. We dug out a few more nuggets and dipped into the Jealous Dogs catalog for a couple more ladles full of sauce for the people. These are the gigs that pay the emotional bills for a career in this business.
This is what I do. I am more than ok with this.
—
The DJ was spinning some sloppy ‘60s rock & roll and we were still uncertain as to the nature of the street fair. Whether it was a city-wide event, a holiday, or just a chamber of commerce type of thing. Sherri even asked from the stage before we closed out the set, but we could get no straight answer. A young woman with heavy mascara, 2 or more barbed rings in her nose, and cute ginger bangs told us that she also had no idea what the street fair was about, but that we should go explore it with her. Her name was Jo, and she spoke english with a solid British accept, that she claimed she picked up by learning the language by watching untranslated re-runs of the Mighty Boosh. Her German seemed legit as well, but I’m no judge of German dialect or accent, so I still have to wonder if she was actually English, and trying out a new identity. I love these little mysteries. The best part is that I’ll never know.
Jo led Aimee & I down the block. We passed right out of the street fair and hit a main drag, where we took a right turn & headed for a bar that Jo was very intent on, but seemed less than certain about where it was. No less than 3 times she assured us that it was “just 5 minutes” ahead. I think Aimee & I silently concurred that it was a good idea that we see her to a friendly locale, if only to have a bit of a rest & reassure her bearing on the city.
When we finally arrived, we were yelled out of the place, for having casually carried in the beers we had walked there with. I apologized to the bartender, but she would hear none of it, claiming that it’s “universal” to not bring drinks into a bar. I wasn’t gonna argue, but I’ve done such a thing about a million times in Spain and never raised the ire of anybody. So we sat in front of the place & our conversation went back to accents & dialects, as Jo was listening to the three dudes talking behind us and had one of them pegged for an Aussie.
Both of my companions at the time are way more intrepid than I am. Aimee walked over & straight-up asked the dudes where they were from, and it turned out to be two Londoners & one Kiwi -all in town for a beer fest. They work for two different breweries, but they are all pals hanging out at the fest -and generously buying a round for the two americans & the mysterious ginger “German”.
Our party expanded & we talked beer, music, politics, etc. One of the fellas told us he’d be in Seattle at the end of next month, so we invited him to our gig at Tim’s Tavern. They invited us to the beer fest the next day, and we had a great spot of time out there on the patio in front of some random bar on the strip in Koln. I have no idea how long we were there, but soon the bartender stopped serving us beers, Jo said goodnight, & the brewers all retired to their beds at the hostel across the street.
Aimee & I retraced our steps back to the Sonic Ballroom, only realizing when we were about halfway home, that a lot of bars were closing up & we may be SOL in getting to our beds if the club had closed up while we were out. We turned the last corner & the whole street was dead and dark. But as we stepped closer & closer we began to hear the steady thump of motown beats inside the walls of the bar.
The place was still absolutely lit when we busted back in. Two bartenders still working, dance floor packed. I ordered two Jamesons and was still not allowed to pay a dime, even though I am certain we had exceeded our bar tab. We weren’t ready for the night to end & the DJ was hitting all the right places to push me out of my comfort zone. We danced until we were the last ones left on the floor. It was nearly 5 AM. The music serenaded us through the floor as we went upstairs for one last beer and the bunks.
So many details that can’t fit on a page, but I can’t imagine I’ll soon forget. This was only my second time in Koln, and only for about 12 hours, which we milked for all they were worth. All of the coolest things I’ve been a part of have been things I’ve walked into on my own two feet. I’m blessed with good companions.
