you rolled your eyes as you start to wak out but cardan was quick to corner you in a tree, your heart is racing, tension is thick and yu could not breath.

he seems to caught onto that as he smirks, “my, my, my, darling, why is your heart racing so fast when I haven’t even touch you, hm?”

you can feel your cheeks heet up as yu raises your eyebrow, “and how would you even know that?”

You let your arms away from his beating heart as if it burns you, “you should go.” you breathed out. “Yeah, you should definitely go, cardan.” You distanced yourself but not far enough from him.

“Go where, sweatheart?” his face is much more closer to yours, “here?” You can feel his breath on your shoulder. “Or maybe here?” It moved up to your neck.

obsessed with jude and cardan post queen of nothing. like neither really knows how to love in a healthy way but they’re both trying so hard. neither is totally convinced the other isn’t going to stab them in the back, isn’t going to leave them. in another world they would have had time to grow that trust but everything happened so quickly and now they’re married. they’re also rulers but they’re also just teenagers. they sit on thrones but on weekends they eat junk food at vivi’s apartment and take oak to the arcade and do things any mortal teenagers would do. maybe they feel safest (at least cardan does) in that apartment but they could never leave faerie. at the end of the day they love their power too much. it’s just nice to pretend for a while. over time it gets better, the trust and domesticity. they grow into their roles, but at the start they’re just deeply hurt teenagers trying to make it work.

Whenever I'm lying awake at night I imagine new scenarios about Cardan and Jude, and today I got one about Jude taking Cardan to the mortal world.

Cardan, peaking inside the speaker: I see no bards

-Jude always exclusively wears Cardan's shirts to bed. Specifically the silky one.

-Cardan keeps trying to convince her to sleep naked, like him. (Also have we collectively forgotten that he canonically does that)

-Jude is an early riser and a morning person.

-Cardan refuses to get up until midnight. (Remember that the fae are nocturnal.)

-Jude has to genuinely drag him out of bed whenever something important happens.

-Whereas Cardan always tries to keep her in bed with him (he usually succeeds)

-Jude takes up baking in her spare time because Cardan made her get a hobby that doesn't involve stabbing people.

-They like to have little playfights.

-E.g Cardan will pin her down to do her makeup.

-Or Jude will come up behind him and put him in a headlock.

-Cardan never sneaks up behind her though.

-He also knows where she keeps all of her weapons on her person.

-If he needs a weapon and he didn't bring one he just casually grabs one from like her pockets or the folds of her dress or something like that.

-Cardan is a biter. And I don't just mean in bed.

-Just like in general. He nibbles her ears or just like casually bites her shoulder.

-They go riding together through the milkwood.

-And take long walks through the gardens together.

-Jude teases Cardan about all the things he did to her at school.

Sorry, but you can't tell me that Cardan "I support women's rights and wrongs" Greenbriar wouldn't be friends with Nesta Archeron.

Cardan, who bullied and harassed his crush because he didn't know how to handle his feelings, who never received an ounce of genuine affection from his family and was severely neglected since he was a baby, going as far to endure brutal punishments from his brother for not "fulfilling the expectations". Cardan, who grew up to believe he was incapable and unworthy of love, drowning himself in alcohol and sex because it allowed to shut his mind off and forget himself.

The same Cardan who wields words like beautifully sharpened weapons, using sarcasm like it's a second skin, who fell in love with the girl who kidnapped, humiliated, manipulated, betrayed and used him for her best interests, only to admire her even more for it instead of feeling intimidated by her. The Cardan who, at first, could only express his love by being crude and mean because he was never taught any other way.

Cardan would take a look at Nesta and find his own twisted reflection on her. And he'll also enjoy her personality, joining her into throwing shade at the IC and supporting her.

Add Jude Duarte to the mix and trust me, they would've made an unstoppable and terrifying trio. Jude is all for power and ambition but she's also compassionate and selfless. You best believe she'll encourage Nesta to make use of her powers and not let anyone step on her.

Basically it would be like this:

Nesta: *explaining her life and what goes on with the Inner Circle*

Jude: Kill them all.

Nesta: No way, I can't do that.

Cardan Greenbriar, the High King of Elfhame, sat upon his majestic throne and reclined in your shared space, the air hung with a quiet warmth as you, his beloved Queen of Elfhame, nervously fidgeted nearby.

"Cardan," you began, eyes meeting his with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. "I have something to tell you." His gaze, worries and panick visible to his eyes fixed on yours, waiting for the words that lingered on the tip of your tongue.

Cardan instinctively wrap his hands around you, trying to calm you down.

“what is it, My love?” he asked, but you only stares at him, anxiety building ip to the both of you.

The silence stretched, prompting you to take a steadying breath. As you pulled away from his embrace, which did not help your husband to calm at all, you let the secret out.

"I'm pregnant," you confessed, the weight of the words settling in the air between you. His eyes widened for a fleeting moment before a slow grin spread across his face.

Cardan attempted to stay strong for you despite his fears coming at him, he holds your hand and kissed your temples as he whisperers assurances and cheering you on.

“Oh, my love, I’m here now. It would be okay.”

“Shh, don’t worry. You can do this.”

“I love you. I love you. You and the baby would be fine just breathe for me, darling.”

As a mixture of nerves and anticipation settled over both of you. The night when contractions finally began, Cardan's calm demeanor cradled your anxiety. In the hushed hours of the birthing room, he held your hand, a steadfast presence amidst the whirlwind of emotions.
