[ID: An edit by @redroseworks advertising Duke Thomas Week 2023. The background consists of two panel edits of Duke in his Signal costume facing outwardly from the left and right side respectively, and a third Duke in the center in his civilian clothes facing the viewer straight on. There is a dot overlay on these panels and they are broken up into triangular comic panels. The dates and themes for Duke Week are listed in text boxes spread throughout, & are listed in further detail in the post below.]
Once again, it’s
Duke Week 2023!
Further info for this year’s Themes, Rules & Guidelines are under the cut! Be sure to spread the word!
Themes for 2023 (Sept 24th-30th):
Day 1 - Rebellion
From his rough start with Dr. Thompkins, to his rocky team-up with Black Lightning & the Outsiders, Duke’s always been quite the Rebel! Here’s a day to commemorate our Rebellious Rockin’ Robin!
Day 2 - Civilian Life
Duke’s time as a vigilante is full of intrigue & adventure, but what about his time outside of the mask? This day is all about exploring Duke’s civilian identity!
Day 3 - Fav Quote
From his introduction in Batman (2011) all the way up through his more recent appearances in Batman: Urban Legends, there’s plenty of quotes to pull from Duke. But which ones stand out among the crowd? Which ones have resonated the most with you? (And here’s a link to our Duke Reading guide in case you want a refresher!)
Day 4 - What is… Normal? (Meme/Free Day)
A free day for folks to share general Duke work, or of course, memes! This past year I’ve seen an influx as well with more general batfam fans questioning just how ‘normal’ or ‘sane’ our favorite bat is. And to that, I want to invite y’all to come on over and find out!
Day 5 - DnD, Wizards & Knights (oh my!)
One of Duke’s oldest special interests! He’s always been a bit of a fantasy nerd. This day is all about celebrating Duke’s hobbies of fantasy gaming and reading!
Day 6 - We Are Robins (Of the Future)
We’ve celebrated the We Are Robins of the Middletown collective before, but this year we’re predicting where they could go! Duke’s first team will always be an important part of his past, but how could they fit into his future?
Day 7 - Sun vs Moon
And to finish out this year’s Duke Week, we end on another note of duality. Duke’s a bat who operates mainly during the day, and occasionally is called upon at night. The bright sunlight of day may reveal something different about our hero compared to the cool moonlight of night.
Rules & Guidelines:
Tag your posts with “#dukeweek2023” &/or “#duke week 2023” for the event. For Best results use it as one of the first five tags & “@” this blog too. If the work is not reblogged here w/in 24 hrs, feel free to send it directly my way by DMing it to me!
Any medium of fanwork is allowed! Whether it’s fic, art, edits, mixes, meta, or more! In this same vein, multiple works for the same day are also allowed, provided they’re on-theme!
HOWEVER, No NSFW! The character is a minor at this point in canon and we want this week to be as inclusive to fans of all ages as possible.
Fics & ficlets that are posted on tumblr will also need a Read More cut to be up for reblogging. Use the : read more : function (no spaces before the colons) & press enter/return to add a cut to your fic! If linked through Ao3 or other fic websites, no cut is needed. Please provide adequate warnings as they apply to your fic, thank you!
Reposted/stolen art or edits will not be accepted or tolerated.
Got any questions about the event? The ask box is always open! (& remember to reblog & spread the word! Let’s have a GREAT DUKE WEEK!)

Spockanalia #1: The Territory of Rigel
By Dorothy Jones
Art by Juanita Coulson
(A ni var to be performed by two voices and a Vulcan harp)
First Voice
Rigel in the scanner, blue-white and crystalline, shining. Light born in the corona pours into space.
The instruments whisper, the panel lights flicker. The stars are still and clear.
Their song is deliberate, long years to a cadence.
Dust in their paths moves in their wake like water, and Rigel shines.
The stars like ancient trees, heavy with planets, blazing with life.
I wander the bright roads: whom no planet claims: live in the open Galaxy.
I have clarity before me, and Rigel full of light.
Second Voice
Dark and silent is the field of space. The bridge is empty. The time, three hundred.
The instruments tell little. The computer absorbs in silence trivial patterns meaning nothing.
Three-twenty. The night is very long. In the dark gulf is the ship, in the sleeping ship is the bridge, on the bridge am I, silence upon silence,
as quiet as memory, and dark as death.
I am far From my beginning and my end. Four hundred and the watch is changed. I leave the bridge and go from darkness into darkness.
This is a piece supposed to have been written by Spock, many years ago. The idea is that he was on watch aboard some ship or other, all alone on the bridge. It was in the middle of the "night" cycle and the bridge was relatively dark except for the instrument panels. Outside there was also darkness, except for the faint light of the stars and the brighter light of Rigel, which was nearby. The contrast of light and darkness appealed to the duality in Spock, and he attempted (no one being around to interfere) to express it in a Vulcan form called ni var.
Ni var means literally "two form," and it is basically a piece comparing and contrasting two different things or two aspects of the same thing. (It need not be a literary work; a suitably-formed painting or sculpture or dance composition could be a ni var.) So in this piece there are two voices: one singing of light and the other of darkness; the little Vulcan harp accompanies them and plays short solo passages. The first voice is soprano and the second voice bass.
Although the ni var is a purely Vulcan form, Spock decided for reasons of his own to write the text in Terran. This was perhaps his undoing; Terran languages are by their nature more personal and less objective than Vulcan, and he found himself writing not only about the physical surroundings which he set out to describe, but also about himself—a totally unVulcan thing to do. He probably looked at the composition the next morning, blanched, and put the piece away for thirty years.
—Dorothy Jones

Hey. I’m back. Not for any reason you’re thinking of, though…
Yes, I’ve returned after… God, how long has it been? A month? Two months? Eh, whatever. I’ll catch up on all the cool comics I’ve missed later on. Right now I’ve got my mind set on the new Sonic IDW issue 69. Because… Oh boy, it’s just a disappointment to be honest.
Alright, so it starts off strong with a good intro page and some extraordinary art, as usual. Pretty cool plot too, with the race actually being an advertisement event for Clean Sweep and the Restoration. We also finally get to see more of Jewel and… Whatever his name is, the Opossum guy. (He’s so forgettable that I forget his name too easily lmao) So with all that setup, you’d think the rest of the issue itself would be a great read, but no. It really isn’t.
My first main gripe is that the Diamond Cutters don’t really act as much of a team at all. It’s mostly just Lanolin and Tangle showing us how split their ideals are, and that alone just makes me sad. This team was set up to be the new and improved Diamond Cutters, the more inexperienced yet connected team that would follow the previous versions type of work ethic. We were lead to believe they’d all grow to become closer teammates and friends. But here we’re shown them all just growing farther and farther apart, with Whisper not even saying a single word throughout the whole issue! And when it comes to their role in the story, they don’t even do much. They don’t really participate in the race, they just act as a police department replacement. Jet literally calls them the Fuzz. How much more on-the-nose can you get? It’s insulting and depressing seeing them like this if I’m being truly honest.
And that’s not to mention that Lanolin and Whisper basically shoot guns at people and they don’t get reprimanded by themselves for that, when Jet and Sonic simply bumping into each other got them both a strike.
My next and much smaller issue with, well, the issue, is Surge and Kit. They hardly do anything for the story, mostly just acting as a plot device to give the writers a reason to disqualify Sonic, Tails, and Amy. They hardly get any page-time in the present, with a majority, if not all their time being spent as a flashback. All that time spent with Surge and Kit being praised and adored by the people they hurt in issue 67 was leading up to this issue, and this is what we get for it all?? Really? And when Surge activates the scam on Amy’s extreme gear, when it just goes crazy and shit, there’s no smooth transition or indicator that she’s about to press a button for us readers. All we get is a single panel after Jet says “I’ll beat you all fair and square!” This, along with Surge’s color also being green, misleads me into thinking that Jet was the one who pushed the button and activated the scam, when I should be clued in that it was actually Surge. It’s confusing and should have been pointed out during the editing or proofreading phase of the upload process or whatever the process is called for making a comic. This could just be me being stuffy about it though.
And finally, for my biggest and pettiest problem of them all, Eggman.
This bitch did not deserve to come back. Oh my god.
So! To start this off, ima ask a question to Lanolin, and to you, the reader. Why the fuck did Sonic and his friends have to be disqualified?? Lanolin could clearly see that something was wrong with their extreme gear, and could easily tell that the issue was not their fault at all. It was a problem caused by someone likely inside the tech team, the people who watched over the extreme gear throughout the night! Lanolin knew this, and yet she still disqualified the team from the rest of the race. Why?
Anyhow, her disqualification of Sonic’s team lead the three Mobians to a small local restaurant where they talked about it, and then BAM. SUDDENLY EGGMAN IS HERE, AND NOBODY IS QUESTIONING IT. AT ALL. WHAT THE FUCK.
You know, since Eggman is literally a world-renowned war criminal and a mad scientist who dumped a giant fucking plague on the whole planet, you’d think that the rest of Mobius would be a bit more cautious around the guy. You’d think that if he just waltzed right on into a restaurant, everyone else would run and hide. You’d think there would be screaming, fighting, people begging to leave. Because compared to the Mobians, this guy is huge! He towers above them all, and his big fat body and mustache are not hard to notice in public when combined with his height. Anyone who saw him in public, no matter what he would be wearing, would instantly know who he is and would run away immediately!
And yet, all we see is a young worker just staring at Eggman being threatened by the others, looking quite awkward, as if it’s just a simple bar fight or as if she isn’t looking directly at a goddamn murderer.
What.
This isn’t even talking about Sonic’s experiences and feelings about Eggman! I haven’t even talked about Sonic much at all in this post! But for Sonic to just sit there awkwardly as Eggman shuffles into the booth across from him, for the hedgehog to tell his friends to not attack the guy after their last meeting, for him to just sit there and hear out his literal lifetime arch nemesis like that… It’s downright disgusting. During or even before the Metal Virus, Sonic would only do this kinda shit if the world were about to end. He’d only pay Eggman a second thought if they were all about to die, right then and there. EVEN WHEN THEY TEAMED UP DURING THEIR LAST MEETING, THEY ONLY DID IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH HAD THE SAME GOAL OF TAKING OUT SURGE WHO, AT THE TIME OF THEIR DEAL, WAS A MAJOR THREAT TO THE REST OF THE WORLD THAT HAD TO BE NEUTRALIZED IMMEDIATELY. SONIC ONLY TEAMED WITH EGGMAN BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON, EGGMAN DIDNT WANT SURGE TO KILL SONIC. THAT WAS THAT.
But here? They’re just in a restaurant. Talking. No strings attached, no real meaning behind it. And the reason why Eggman sought out Sonic of all people…?
Because he was insulted that Mobians insulted him and his robots.
…
I’m sorry.
W H A T. T H E. A C T U A L. F U C K ? ? ?
I do not even need to tell you how absolutely absurd this reasoning is. I do not need to sit here for another 40 minutes explaining to you all the reasons why this reasoning is genuine bullshit. I do not need to go on another rant and tell you what you already know.
But I will say this: Eggman is a threat. Eggman is a villain. He can be funny at times, he can be goofy at times, but overall we must know what he is capable of. Because of what he’s capable of, Eggman can do just about anything to anyone if he is to be insulted or mocked. He could send a horde of robots and kill that person until they’re double-dead. Bro could nuke their house. HE COULD SEND ANOTHER GODDAMN ROBOTIC PLAGUE ON THE WORLD JUST BECAUSE HE FELT LIKE IT. EGGMAN HAS THE MEANS AND THE DRIVE AND THE POWER TO LITERALLY DO ANYTHING. HE HAS AN EGO BIG ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT A LITTLE INSULT WON’T DO SHIT TO HIS EMPIRE. BRO HAS BEEN MOCKED BEFORE BY THE MOBIANS. HE’S BE HATED, FEARED, EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN AND MORE.
Yet, when the Mobians, the people he’s hurt, killed, enslaved, ZOMBOTIFIED… When they simply make a mockery of him on television during a Clean Sweep advertisement… He goes ballistic and enlists Sonic to help him get revenge.
What a fucking man-child.
The writers for this issue are intentionally making Eggman seem more comedic and pathetic than villainous. They are turning this lifetime enemy of Sonic into a begrudging clown, a shadow of the man he was during the Metal Virus, and they are doing it with a satisfied grin on all their pretty faces. I don’t hate anyone or truly despise anyone for this decision to make Eggman seem more of a bumbling fool or a businessman. I just… I’m honestly just disappointed. Eggman is meant to be scary, he’s meant to be a villain. Not… Whatever this is! I don’t even know what he’s supposed to be anymore! His robots make a fake game show for Sonic and his friends all because their boss is obsessed with Dance Moms. Sure, that makes sense, they’re Orbot and Cubot and their job is to make Eggman happy. Eggman teams up with Sonic and then double-crosses him again simply because they have similar goals? Yeah, okay, kinda weird but nothing too out of the ordinary. Because at least in those two examples, we still know what Eggman’s supposed to be. We still know how menace he can be, because he still has his ingenuity and his robotic prowess behind him. But here? When he’s in a tiny restaurant in a purple suit, willingly helping and making a deal with Sonic the Hedgehog, his lifelong enemy?? I have no idea who or what this man is supposed to be. I don’t know who I’m looking at here. All I see is a sad excuse to move the plot along and introduce another new character to the story. That’s all I can see.
Issue 67 was a failure, a flop, a disgusting mess of an issue. But this? Issue 69 is just a sad, sorry disappointment.

Weekly Update March 29, 2024
I’m pretty volatile in terms of mood, but I did get a good amount of actual work done on projects. I’m exhausted, I haven’t fixed my sleep schedule yet because I’m addicted to working. Like I’ve genuinely tried to stop and go to be early or sleep in and I just always ‘just one more drawing, just one more verse, just one more thumbnail, it’s let me find this one perfect instrument, just let me finish these four bars, just let me-‘ and before you know it it’s two hours past bedtime and you haven’t even brushed your teeth yet. Or eaten dinner. On the bright side all the stuff I’ve done has gone pretty well!
First big exciting point, that little pitch comic I’ve been working on? Thumbnailing/writing is done. Done enough anyway. I might still go back to edit some pages but I can get going on others now, which is great because even though I’ll only post the full thing once I have the whole comic complete, I might post individual panels, so there will be stuff to see! I’m also going to try to keep writing at night, so I can let other episodes and stories play out a bit, but Art priority will be shifting more to the comic. It will be 30 pages so it will likely take a while, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to do 3 or so panels a week while I’m finishing up this semester and switch to a page a day once I have more time.
Music is also going very well. I’m putting the final mixing touches on a vocaloid cover song (unless I decide to go back and redo the guitar, which I might), which I’ll try to start putting visuals to soon, although that’ll likely be pretty slow since I finally got past the thing that was bottlenecking me on the comic project. I’ll also have to get licensing settled, although that currently looks to be affordable. The whole project has given me a taste for blood and now I want to do a bunch of other cover stuff, but good news: I also found a nearly finished cover of another song that I had put aside in favor of the Green Day one. That’ll probably take a while before I can call it ‘done’, though, whereas I could probably release the first cover song today if I really wanted. I have some time tonight where I’ll try to throw some music together, maybe I’ll work on that.
There’s a few smaller nearly-finished songs I dug up from the depths of my WIPs too, one I need to redo a melody line, one I was bottlenecked on finding a specific instrument for, which I did the other day in lab, and a few others that also either need structure or Melodies. Plus there’s those two that are waiting on lyrics still but I’m still chugging at that, just slowly. I might also try that one tonight too, if I finish or can’t do the vocal cover for whatever reason. There’s also a couple character themes that haven’t really been priorities but I did re-outline one that I’ve been working on, so once I have recording time I can go try that one. That one is on its third draft so I really hope this one will stick.
Other miscellaneous projects haven’t seen much progress this week. I’m still thinking things through for that epithet TTRPG campaign, but I’m having a bit of trouble outlining the third chapter. I just need more brain power for that though, so earlier bedtimes would do it. A couple other art things keep coming to mind but I’ve been focusing more on big projects, so that’ll probably continue if I can. This next week I want to focus on keeping my body as healthy as I can, and then comic, second cover song, and visuals for first cover song, in that order of priority. Passive projects I can work on while doing other activities will be epithet TTRPG planning, song lyrics, and outlining future comic stuff, in that order of priority. If I come up with any song Melodies or ideas for visuals for the song I’m finishing up those priorities might shift, but right now I want to stick to more of a plan, since it worked out well this week.

Synopsis: While trying to stop Doctor Winkler from brainwashing Captain Stacy, Spider-Man is suddenly ambushed by Winkler's employer: The Kingpin. The fight is a short one when Spidey is thrown into one of the machines. The resulting jolt blurs his vision enough to make him ineffective in a fight, and so he flees. With Spider-Man gone, the Kingpin completes brainwashing Stacy and lets him go. Stacy meets up with Gwen and Harry who are being told by Mary Jane about Spider-Man's appearance at the club; George alleviates any concern they have about what happened. Meanwhile, Spider-Man struggles to get around the city due to his double vision. Realising web-slinging is too dangerous in this condition, he resigns to change back into his civilian guise so he can get home safely.
That night, Peter has troubled dreams about what the Kingpin had done to Captain Stacy and decides to do something about it in the morning. When he wakes up, he finds his vision has improved, but it is still blurry. He then goes to the Stacy home where he asks to speak to Gwen's father. When Peter tries to confront George over what happened at the night club, Stacy attacks him, forcing Peter to defend himself. Gwen walks in on the situation, and her father accuses Peter of going mad and attacking him. When Peter tries to explain himself, Gwen is too upset to listen to him and tells him to leave and never see her again. Finally alone, George calls the Kingpin to advise him that Parker knows the truth. The Kingpin sends some men after Peter, though when they arrive only Harry is at home, so they instead wreck Peter and Harry's apartment.
However, when the Kingpin's goons force their way into the apartment Peter shares with Harry Osborn, they only find Harry. This is because Peter is visiting his Aunt May in the hospital. When he finally returns home, he is shocked to see that these men trashed their apartment. After learning what has happened, Peter decides to trail Stacy as Spider-Man and learn what the Kingpin has ordered him to do. Spider-Man photographs Stacy going into police headquarters stealing protected documents. Setting up his camera, Spider-Man jumps through the window and tries to stop Stacy. While struggling with some of the Kingpin's men, the wall-crawler is unprepared when George strikes him over the head with his cane. With Spider-Man knocked out, Stacy and the goons flee, deciding to steal the files some other time. When Spider-Man recovers, he takes his camera and flees the scene.
Examining his photos, Peter realises that he has evidence that will ruin any alibis that George Stacy might make, but debates what he should do with the photos. After much debate, Peter decides that giving the photos to the Daily Bugle to publish is the only way to stop the Kingpin and hopefully free Captain Stacy from his control. Jameson is excited to see the photos and orders a special edition to be published immediately. Some time later, Gwen collects the newspaper from her doorstep and is shocked to see the front page story about her father. She is in an even greater shock when she sees that the photos were taken by Peter Parker!

The Popcorn Club
Event planning can be a daunting task, but it's a critical component of any successful organisation. From small community events to large-scale conferences, effective event planning can be the difference between a memorable experience and a forgettable one. Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in the planning and promotion of an event called "The Popcorn Club." As I navigated through the process, I gained valuable insights into the world of event planning, including the importance of social media and the significance of collaboration and communication. In this blog post, I'll share my experience and some of the most crucial things I learned about event planning and promotion.
For an independent Uni event The Popcorn Club, in my mind anyways, was a success although there were only 50 seats and not all of them were filled. Those who came really enjoyed themselves and that's what really mattered. The atmosphere was electric, with people laughing and chatting as we watched our work displayed and when we had the social after.
From a planning perspective, the event went smoothly. As a group, although we had our own jobs we all were happy to help out with everything from designing posters, editing videos and brainstorming ideas for social media.
In terms of the work shown, we had carefully grouped certain ones together so we could create panels for Q&As and give the audience time to take in everything they've seen and so they don't become too overwhelmed. Our choices were validated by the reaction of the attendees, who enjoyed the variety and mix of works.
Overall, The Popcorn Club event was a fantastic night that exceeded my expectations. We had a great turnout, and everyone seemed to have a great time.
The success of the event was not just down to luck. It took months of planning and preparation to bring it all together, and this blog post will dive deeper into the thought process and decisions that went into making it a success.
Planning an event is a daunting task, but the experience of organising The Popcorn Club has taught me the art of event planning. Various things went into planning this event, from deciding on the theme and creating promotional content. In this blog post, I'll share the valuable insights I gained from it.
We had to decide on the theme of the event. It was a lot simpler than we thought it would be because in all honesty we already had the idea at the start, but that doesn't mean it hasn't changed and evolved. The theme of The Popcorn Club was centred around high school and how each member of the group has changed and evolved. We wanted to create an atmosphere of fun and relaxation where people could unwind and have a good time.
Once we finalised the theme, the next step was to create a promotion plan to ensure that the event reached as many people as possible. As a social media manager, my role was to create engaging and visually appealing content for the event's promotion. We utilised various social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter to promote the event and used the website other members of the group created to reach out to potential attendees. Although Social Media definitely isn't my strong suit I was so happy that I got to do it as it did give me a chance to better my abilities. It was so daunting to begin with but with the help of Blake (a member of the Popcorn Club), it got a lot easier. Social media became a voice for us to express ourselves and what we were creating.
During the planning process, we faced some challenges and had to make some changes. For instance what we were even going to be changing. Trying to decide how to show a dissertation and scripts is not an easy task but it worked out well and everyone loved it.
As someone who was in charge of the social media and promotions for The Popcorn Club, I learned quite a few things about event planning. Here are some of the key takeaways:
1. Communication is key
One of the biggest lessons I learned from planning The Popcorn Club is that communication is absolutely essential when it comes to organising an event. It is especially important when working with a group because people are always going to have different ideas or what to do.
2. Flexibility is important
While it's important to have a plan in place, it's also important to be flexible and adaptable when things don't go as planned. For example, at The Popcorn Club, we had to make some important and somewhat stressful decisions when it came to the interviews, photography and table reads. We all had to be flexible with our time so we could get it all done. It took some work.
Overall, planning The Popcorn Club was a challenging and rewarding experience that taught me a lot about event planning. By applying the lessons I learned to future projects, I'm confident that I'll be able to plan even more successful events in the future. It has also given me a major insight into what I want to do in the future. As a career, I now realise I want to go into Curation and Programming meaning planning events and putting works together. I got more from this project than I would've ever known.

-✨Small Town Story time✨-
Art Replica edition. Drama in the valley.
First of all, Context:
Every year the local area puts on a sculpture competition called
'Sculpture In the Vineyards'.
Which is usually pretty neat because the whole valley participates and it's all local artists and it usually pulls in a few touristy folk.
The 3 Big prizes are:
A) the big winning prize of the whole thing selected by the judges.
B) the Kangaroo a prize which is best local representation
C) the small prize. Which is best small sculpture also selected by the judges.
(People choice is also a thing but not nearly as lucrative to win)
THE DRAMA
The this years winner was this piece:
Which most locals thought absolutely rubbish because it wasn't even welded together well and was being sold for a price of $120,000.
That's a huge amount even before it was declared the winner.
What got most people was the fact that the artist (who doesn't have the best reputation amongst the community) who made the sculpture is a close friend of one of the judges.
That doesn't look great especially when the small prise winner was also a close friend of the same judge. (And most people didn't like sculpture very much either)
This year the judges panel only had two people on it, which probably did not help the blatant favouritism. (And unconfirmed bullying of the other judge into silence)
(Which sucks for the long term because its basically tanked the reputation of the whole thing and if artists don't want to enter then it's not going to happen again. This event has been ongoing for over 15 years without any major issues as well. It's grown a lot over the years.)
Basically no one likes it and everybody's annoyed.
Any way, come this Saturday morning when most people wander into town for a coffee and some socialising (including me) there were a set of three new sculptures scattered around the main T intersection. You could not miss them.
Some one had made a replica of the winner, thrice over and put them out in the dark of Friday night.
The real start of the show was the sign:
Most locals have found a absolutely hilarious. (There seams to be a general consensus of who might have done it but that's neither here nor there.)
Although it has confused some of the people passing through.
The sign even has a little red sticker to indicate that it's been sold.
I hope they stay up. It's only day one so we wait wait with hatred breath for the response.
Either way, the copy sculptures have some how become more of an artwork than the original just because they have something to say.
Especially since the original didn't even have a consent when asked about the inspiration.
Either way there is likely a lot of drama to come.
Kind of irrelevant to the story but for anyone wondering, my personal favourite this year were the bunch off life sise chickens made of chicken wire:

Hope this doesnt come of sounding the wrong way, but have you ever written/drawn an fully original story/world, and if not, do you ever want to, or are you satisfied with just doing fanfics and fanart for the forseable future?
I do have original projects!
I'm currently working on a visual novel called Villain Reform School.
youtube
I haven't talked about it much recently, because I don't know when chapter 1 will be fully completed. We're getting really close, but there's still a lot to do. I work full time outside of this and the team I can afford is a lead programmer and my brother on editing.
(I'm the author, artist, audio director, and secondary programmer on it. So there's a lot of hats I've been cycling through.) Having watched games crash under the wieght of doing that and maintaining a media presense, I decided to focus on making it first and promoting it once it's out.
The first pass at the demo is up on itch.io https://worldismyne.itch.io/mccarthy-academy-demo
Here's some current CGs of the lead character Nagen.
You play as a teen super villain that failed to take over the city and has to go to school with all the kids he brainwashed during his master plan and his old squad.
Fanfiction and fanart is a nice creative break for me. The hardest part of a project like this is I have black and white thinking when it comes to progress on it (either it's done or it's not). Where as fics and art I can post in stages and get instant feedback on.
I have an interest in writing original novels, but finding a literary audience is difficult for someone like me, who sucks at networking and works nights. I am working on an original story atm, but I don't have the first chapter finished yet. Right now it's just a for fun thing. (It's going to be about a witch princess/trainee trying to teach a boy how to be a witch just to prove she can. It ends badly.)
Warrior U Fanmade is a project I'm also working on. It is a fancomic, but I have the creator's permission to distribute anything I make with Warrior U so long as I properly credit her. (She's moved onto different projects) It's a fan continuation of the orginal comic, but I tried to write it in a way that anyone jumping in at this point will have an easy time getting into it.
Changeling acts a stand alone fantasy story about Finn meeting the rich family that disowned his mother for using magic.
I have a collaborator who helped a bunch with the first issue, and our physicial copies are set to be available online next week!
I've been working on this at the same time as other fandom stuff so it updates online weekly. I learned a lot from this issue and have gone from just writing and illustrating to figuring out the storyboard and paneling side of things.
Idk if I'd ever want to do an original comic. My love for complicated character designs demands the VN format.
I have a couple VN ideas, but Villain Reform School is the one I wanted to have the most creative control over. It's also a meaty project. Prologue and Chapter 1 are around 90 k together and there's supposed to be 5 in total. Some of the major mechanics I want haven't been 100% ironed out yet. And I need to get player feedback on certain story elements first before I commit to writing another 180k of a playstyle we might have to rework or cut.
#myne talks#My problem is having too many ideas and fan stuff has a built in audience#Also years of imposter syndrome and needing to practice until my skills matched my taste level

Ok but, if love to hear about some of your super heroes someone. Man if you haven't played Stardew Valley in a while you should, they recently updated it and added some cool new stuff. Also I totally get the shibari thing. I don't sketch or draw but I think it's very aesthetically pleasing in a non perverted way and can see how it's be a fun excessive in posing and angles and such, especially with some of the more extravagant artistic shibari. Do you have a PC and what consoles do you have? Sorry to hear that about your friend, I know even if you're growing apart loading a friend can suck really bad.
Thank you for this ask, also.
I so wanna see how the new updates look in Stardew, like there's a new island to explore? And whole new fruits? (My wine aging casks in the cellar are a vital part of my little operation bringing in cash every day so new fruit to make wine with is exciting to me, baha) And yeah, like even being like ten years in on one playthrough there are still so many trophies I want to attempt when I start it up again. Even though some of them depend on being a traitor and siding with Joja mart in a new save.
For consoles have my slightly battered PS4, which has weathered two moves and multiple corrupted data reboots sadly, and may need puttin out to pasture soon 🥲🥲🥲 Im really strapped for cash and the thought of pricing a PS5 or something as a replacement and Im trying to be like hold on old girl just one more 700 meg download of a DLC for me
I also have a Nintendo Switch handheld with, like, two games loaded that my friend James sent me, it's second hand and I do not love the controller drift but I really enjoyed Pokemon Sword and the remaster of Skyward Sword a lot!
And also my GBA, that thing will outlive me and I still have a dozen games for it. First edition, I got it for Xmas 2001, it has followed me my entire adult life.
And yeah, you get it! I truly believe all art has validity to it, even horny art has it's niche as expression.
And man I would love to talk the heroes I created in high school, it's just such a thing that I might be here all night 😅😅😅 It started, oddly enough, with me mimicking cartoons. Idk if like anyone remembers, there was a bad, old Avengers cartoon on Fox in the 90's. (It was. Bad. They all had armor, nonsensically) so starting in middle school, using that as a jumping off point, I created Avengers in Armor ripoffs I called the Detectives. And they were my first real attempt, middle school wise, to do more than just random comics. I took spiral bound notebooks and I just began filling them up. And I was experimenting, tinkering all the time, because creating an experience that was as much as I cojld make it LIKE a comic book, in that it was very crudely drawn anatomically bad figures from a middle schooler. But the formula began taking shape, the notebook pages became stock, nine panel grids and from there I just filled page after page with ongoing adventures of this team.
Now. The Detectives. Sucked. And even in 8th-9th grade, I was losing interest in them because that Avengers show I took the germ of inspiration for their adventures from didnt even last that long, and I was getting into other stuff. Harry Potter. Blade Runner. Toonami cartoons, MUCH better shit than Fox Kids. I began using that and started cranking out more and more heroes.
Killed the Detectives, just wholesale had them wiped out, they sucked.
But I began building a universe of heroes beyond them, starting with a Harry Potter sort of pastiche that I also used as a commentary on high school and he was a little bit okay a lot like me, named Johnny Dreamer. And then other heroes in Johnny's world. And then, another comic, which I brilliantly named Systems Crash, about a dark anti-hero named Downfall (total Deadpool ripoff) and a Supergirl pastiche I based off a friend of mine. And just on and on. The notebooks began bursting with content, and I was riding some fucking lightning pushing these out and not doing any schoolwork. I was creating a little shared universe.
Like I said, I remember it all too well. It's just there doesnt seem to be any getting it back 😅 which makes me sad.
And yeah. Story of my life a bit, friends leave. It never stops being hard, when people who spoke to me every day begin texting less and less and move on with their lives, but it feels like Im just not... worth it? Idk it does make being friends with people hard for me.
So uh.
Thank you for the questions, honestly

Alright, here's part 2 of my anime convention post. Onto what I got.
First off, remember how I mentioned that the last con I went to in March didn't have food this time around? Well, this year, THEY FINALLY HAD A FOOD BOOTH! 🙌🙌🙌 Unfortunately, since I wanted to splurge on other stuff, I didn't get a lot of food like I did last time, just three items, but I figured it was good enough.
First, I got these little burger cookies that were made by the same company that made those chocolate strawberry cookies I got in 2022 that I thought looked really good, so I had to try them.
Next, I got this DIY candy kit after trying one in a snack crate three years ago and really liking it, and after seeing ones like these on Instagram. Looks good enough, haven't tried it yet, though.
Next, they had a bunch of Ramune flavors that looked so fucking good, but again, since I wanted to splurge on other stuff, I could only get one, so I got this Peach flavored Ramune that I think looked good. EDIT: I tried it on New Year's, it was so good.
Next, one of the panelists at the All-Americas panel handed out free USA-themed goodies whenever someone asked a question, and me and cousin Canada asked a few questions, so we got some cool stuff.
I know I'm gonna keep the necklace and the bracelet, no idea what I'm gonna do with the sunglasses though.
I also got to take a photo with two of my favorite maids at the maid cafe, but I can't show that here; I just couldn't remember if I said it already. But on the upside, in the art room, they had an anime bingo that I participated in a little, and I won a few stickers. I don't know where some of these characters are from, I just chose ones I really liked.
At the booth that was selling food, there were these cute little floaty keychains (I've wanted one so bad for a while now) that they were actually selling at the last con I went to but I couldn't get one cause I already got enough stuff at that con. Well this year, I absolutely had to get one, and I decided to get myself a simple one just to see how I like it.
At another booth they were selling these button signs that you stick on your backpack or corkboard or something, and I got me one too.
They had two that I really wanted- one that said 'they/them' one that was the Amazon logo but instead of Amazon it said 'waifu' and another one about bisexuality, but I couldn't get them cause I wanted to save my money for commissions.
At another booth that sold a bunch of pins, I bought me a Golden Girls Blanche pin (the only one they had).
And this Hellfire Club pin (despite me seeing only the first two seasons and then neglecting catching up after the first episode of the third season)
At another booth they had Danganronpa keychains so I got this double-sided Kaede Akamatsu keychain.
At another booth, I got this Bowsettw print.
At an artist's booth, I got a demigirl button.
At another booth I got this Bowsette sticker.
At another booth I got this cute asexual dog print keychain.
And this bisexual dog print keychain.
And at another booth towards the entrance of the vendor hall, they had a ton of Hetalia stuff. Some of it I already got or couldn't afford cause commission, but I still got some awesome stuff.
I got this Hetalia China keychain.
And this Hetalia England keychain.
And this Hetalia lanyard (I know I got two at the last con, but this one has Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Luxembourg on it).
And now onto the commissions.
Surprisingly, I was able to afford five commissions this year, whereas I usually only get three, so yeah. Obviously I got to splurge a little bit.
First, I got this commission of me and my oc Martyn kissing, which I absolutely love.
Next I got this commission of me and Iceland from Hetalia in a sweet embrace. 🥰
Next, I got this adorable commission of me and the SFM model of Michael Afton from Five Nights At Freddy's. (I forgot what the pose is called 😫)
And, last but not least, I got this equally adorable commission of Romano from Hetalia and an irl friend of mine who likes him, from my favorite artist, whom I got the Canada x Katie commission from last year.
I also got me another commission of me and Michael, but I can't show it to you cause it's NSFW (my first one! 🙌)
Overall, despite the bumps, this was a very fun con- one of the best I've ever been to, and I'm so looking forward to 2024's.
Antis please dni

•Bungou stray dogs anime (my sleep deprived self is just dying in laughter cause of this one lol)
Top 3 4 Manga/Anime of mine that I'd recommend-
Demon Slayer / Kimetsu no Yaiba: 10 out of 10! Its a really good story and has amazing character designs and plot. Perfect if you love action and comedy.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Id give this one a 9 out of 10 recommendation. The manga isn't currently finished so my rating may change, but they kill off too many characters..... either way the plot is pretty good and the characters are amazing!
Tokyo Revengers: This one isn't for everyone but honestly its a 10 out of 10 for me. Love the plot a lot, but they do curse a LOT.. and its quite gruesome at times. But the characters are really wholesome and its such a good story, plus there is always something new and exciting around the corner lol.
bonus #4: Bungou stray dogs! It's so beautiful and it's really good. I love how funny it is at points as well :3

my proposal for tropes we as a fandom should adopt in all fanworks going forward: Duke Thomas edition
So every fandom has tropes and characterization quirks that have been generally accepted into fanon and, like, maybe? they were originally based on some obscure comic panel from the 80s or something but it doesn’t really matter because we’re all just,,, cool with it? Like for example- in the dc comics fandom, an art piece could show 3 of the bats that look virtually identical except one of them is holding a box of cereal so that one is obviously Dick Grayson. . . Y’know?
Anyway, these things usually come up naturally I guess but I’ve been here a while and it’s finally time to put my foot down. It’s high time for Duke Thomas to be more in fanon than “the sane one.” Because he might be the relatively new guy but he is certainly fears no gods or laws of the land just as much as the other bats, lemme tell ya.
TL;DR here are character quirks (”canon-based” or otherwise) that we should all really latch onto seriously I’m begging y’all to make at least one of these happen-
Duke “Habitually Jumping Out of Moving Vehicles” Thomas
This one’s actually based in canon y’all; Duke did indeed yeet himself out of the back of a cop car and off of a bridge (in We Are... Robin). Normalize Duke’s wearing knee and elbow pads as Signal because jumping out of a car turns out relatively fine once and then suddenly Batman’s rooftop disappearing act seems mellow compared to the amount of times Gordon has whipped his head around to see a now Signal-less backseat.
Like, he’s going 60 mph?? And he didn’t even hear the door open?? and tHE DOORS ARE STILL LOCKED??
Imagine this leaking into civilian life and Bruce waking up to a blurry photo of Duke mid-escape from a limousine on the front page of the Gotham Gazette.
(more under cut)
Duke “Puzzles are my Passion” Thomas
Duke is ~canonically~ very skilled at both solving and concocting riddles (as a child during that time where The Riddler just,,, controlled Gotham, he worked non-stop on riddles, trying to make the perfect one). Please y’all- let Duke solve puzzles. Have the other bats ask him for help after 36 hours straight of brooding over some brainteaser that Duke works out within the half-hour. He texts a picture of the solution scribbled out on loose leaf in the margins of his pre-calc homework because this boy shows his work.
My guy is a word-cross FIEND. A mind-sweeper speed-runner. That guy who mails into the Gazette to correct a solution in the “fun & games” section and also ps that photo is not of me I am simply a polite young man who is much too busy writing into the paper in the year 2021 to jump out of limos-
I also would love to see this integrated into the type of cases he investigates / runs into on his daytime patrol. Like, obviously the criminal activity is going to dramatically differ before and after sundown, but that doesn’t make Duke’s work any easier or less important. It’s a different skillset; he has to work differently. Instead of jumping into fights, halting mob meetings, saving civilians in dark allies, etc. Duke has to sort through all of the moving pieces before they all converge into something catastrophic.
It’s a known fact that criminal organizations in Gotham make and execute a lot of behind-the-scenes plans during the day specifically not to run into the bats. And Duke knows and monitors this shit all by himself; his work is crucial to logistics and information gathering for the bats as a whole. Now criminals have like, a 2 hour gap between bat-shifts to try and get stuff done. But Duke would 100% set traps on timers or lead them on this pre-set convoluted goose chase to distract them until the night bats come out and to let himself enjoy the whole thing playing out on the news while he finishes homework that’s due at midnight.
Duke “I Know a Guy” Thomas
So in going off of the basic concept for the “We Are. . . Robin” run in combination to his general likability, Duke has a lot of friends all around Gotham. Okay, sure, he doesn’t have a Super best friend or a Speedster on speed dial, but he does know this guy who details cars up on West 35th and will tell them all about the new mods on Black Mask’s transport vans if they come through the third floor window and bring takeout.
Bruce and Tim will be waiting for the facial recognition software to identify at least a partial match off of security cam footage when Duke pulls into the cave, takes one look at the screen, and says “Oh, that’s <insert name, address, abridged life story, and known associates here>.” This also brings in the opportunity for Duke to have some sort of perfect recall for faces, voices, names, etc. which I think could be a really cool element for his position as the batfamily member who has a lot more personal interaction with the people of Gotham.
I’m also into the idea of a lot of people knowing/telling stories about Duke. Not to reference the Chuck Norris meme but almost like the Chuck Norris meme lmao. Think about Jason mentioning his brother to someone and she replies, “Duke Thomas? Like that Duke Thomas? The one who swam across the harbor because he said it’d be faster than the subway and it actually was?” These stories have varying levels of truth to them but Duke will never confirm nor deny when he gets random calls from family members yelling “you dID WHAT”
So those are my top three, and the following is a little speed-round of headcanons :)
Duke has a super expressive face. Like when he’s relaxed around family, you can tell exactly what he’s thinking and how he’s feeling by his visual reactions to things
Duke rotates through picking up new and revisiting old hobbies at a pretty rapid pace. Some hobbies include: bullet journaling, origami, viola, cello, synth, conversational basics in multiple languages, up-cycling and embroidering clothes
Duke has a really fucking adorable smile. He can’t help it. He’ll try to grin sarcastically or smug to be annoying but his smile just cannot be anything other than endearing. He also has a very specific booming laugh that’s an absolute treasure to hear, because it’s the most genuinely happy thing ever.
Duke unironically enjoys Signal by Twice even though the first time he heard it was after Steph had set it as his morning alarm.
So.
Come and get your food, I guess.
Feel free to add on if you’d like! I’d love to see anything you guys write/draw/etc. based on anything from here if you feel compelled to do so!
Stay safe and be well :)

My Mech's a Tsundere! (Heatwave X Blades)
A/N: XD I think we all can agree that Heatwave is a total classic Tsundere 😩🤌✨
My guy bullies the heck out of Blades but he's Also the guy to massacre ANYONE whom dares to lay a single finger on our precious lil baby😩😭👌
I finished my wattpad writing early so hhehe, that means more time to write another fic!
AND YES, I TAKE INSPO FROM SONGS AKSHEHDHSGS-
Enjoy~
Edit: As I finished writing this, I realised that I remembered scrolling through @bonanza_marco(twitter) old comic about Heatwave (or was it Blades? ) getting hurt and well...😂😂I ended up with angst which is something similar to theirs? 😩✨😭❤️
(their art is AMAZING I SIMP FOR THEIR HEATBLADES ART 😭😭👏👏✨❤️❤️)
OwO, enjoy this late night chapter!
---
"Blades, stop being a coward!"
"Blades, a little more courage on the mission?"
"Damn it Blades, why are you so squirmish all the time!?"
"Primus, Blades-"
"SORRY FOR BEING A WEAK MECH THEN, HEATWAVE! NOT EVERYONE WAS FORGED FOR GREATNESS LIKE YOU!" Heatwave snapped and transformered, flying off to God knows where.
"Tsk." The Rescue Bot leader clicked his glossa in frustration and punched the wall, taking out his anger with his fist.
"Don't you think you're pushing him too hard, Heatwave? He is the youngest among us..." Boulders asked, unsure of the situation.
Apparently, the fire bot has been nagging on the poor helicopter for the past few days and it took a toll on Blades, but the mech held it in.
Finally, he exploded today.
"Pfft- you call that being hard? I've seen worse during my days at the Academy. This is nothing at all!" Heatwave grunted, throwing another punch to the wall, denting it.
"If you could, kindly not lay damage to the wall. Chief does not see fond to us destroying our quarters." Chase advised, stopping Heatwave's servo with his own.
The red mech shrugged the police bot's hands away in annoyance, still frustrated about a certain yellow and white bot.
"He's gotta learn how to man up, as Cody would say." Heatwave defended, crossing his arms on his chassis. "You guys are just being too soft on him. He's been sheltered by us too long that he failed to use his own courage to do stuff. We can't have that on our team!"
"But-" Boulders and Chase said in unison, only to be cut off by their leader.
"This argument is done. I'm going out, don't bother following me." Heatwave growled and changed into vehicle mode, speeding off base.
~Meanwhile, on Blades's side...
"I didn't ask to be weak, you know..." Blades sniffled as he sat before Francine Greene, the daughter of the brilliant scientist, Doc Greene.
The poor mech had elaborated his dilemmas to the girl, venting out his frustration in sorrow.
"Aww, Blades! You're not that bad! I've seen you and Dani in action countless times! Trust me, you're doing great!" Frankie assured, patting his large servos.
"That's not what Heatwave said to me." The helicopter replied sulkily, yellow optics dimming in tune with his emotions.
"When someone is frustrated or angry, they tend to say things that they don't mean to." Francine explained, casting the mech a tender smile.
"That's not very nice. Words do hurt sometimes... All the time, actually." Blades said, furrowing his optic ridges. "Well, besides Dani and her forceful gesture to my control panels, of course."
Chuckling, the young Greene shook her head in amusement at the troubled mech.
"What's so funny?" Blades whined, his rotters drooping downwards.
"You know, I may be just a kid but I know love when I see one." Frankie said, eyes twinkling with ideas. "And I think Heatwave's got a thing for you."
"Yeah. Bullying; his favourite past time activity." Blades rolled his optics. "Come to think about it, he would still nag at me during mission, so I think it's just a normal thing on his daily to-do list."
"No! I mean, isn't it obvious though? He targets you and ONLY you all the time! You're his main point, Blades!" the girl explained, waving her hands in the air.
"I know!" Blades said, mimicking her actions. "I'm his easy target!" he groaned and set his servos on his kneeguards.
Frankie face-palmed at the mech's obliviousness. "Blades, I don't think we're on the same page here."
"What page? Are we talking about books now?" He asked, tilting his helm innocently.
"No-"
BEEP!
"What was THAT?!" Blades yelped, looking around for the sudden noise.
"Sorry, it's my watch. It's 8pm now Blades, the sun has already set." Frankie pointed out to her window.
"Scrap! Sorry I took too long of your time, Frankie! I wanted to talk to someone besides Cody because SOMEONE is there. UGH!" Blades apologised before transforming into his vehicle mode. "Bye Frankie, thanks for hearing me out!" he swiftly flew away.
"-Though I'm still not happy with Heatwave's action..." the mech said as he flew above the clouds.
Normally he would do ANYTHING to NOT fly high but he was a robot in disguise, he had a cover to keep.
"Maybe I should-"
BOOOMM!!
The poor bot struck jackpot on having the worst luck for the week.
He got STRUCK by a lightning.
"AAAHHH!" Blades yelled, teetering sideways as he dropped altitude. "MAYDAY! MAYDAY! GUYS, CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" Blades yelled through the comms, but no one picked up due to the sudden blow messing up his commlinks.
The poor bot crash-landed at a secluded rainforest, which made things even worse.
"O-Ow..."he winced, prying away sharp splinters as his systems blared signals, warning him of his injuries. "H-Heatwave..." he called out again, subconsciously choosing the leader out of the rest of the team.
Not Dani, not Chief, not Chase and certainly not Cody.
No one...except Heatwave.
Said mech wasn't fairing any better too. The mech may be hot-headed, but he meant well for team, especially Blades.
Too well, actually.
Like the idiom goes 'someone's bark is worse than their bite', the red mech hadn't actually mean his words fully. He was just...worried for the guy.
His. Guy.
"Where are you, Blades...?" Heatwave asked to himself, turning on his headlights as he drove down the winding roads of Griffin Rock.
The troubled mech halted in his wheels as he saw smoke appearing from the forest beyond him.
"That's gotta be Blades!" Heatwave said, choosing to gamble his assumption this time for the sake of his mech.
Thunderstorm continued to brew hard and the unrelenting rain pelted harshly onto Heatwave's windscreen, but he paid no attention to them.
'Come on Heatwave, answer my calls damn you!'
As you can see, the Rescue Bot leader HAD been trying to get in contact with the helicopter for the past hour now, but to no avail.
After what seems to be an eternity, Heatwave arrived at the smoking area.
"BLADES! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Heatwave yelled, pushing away thick bushes.
Lo and behold, the very mech he was looking for is right in front of him, clutching his sides in pain.
"BLADES!" Heatwave said, mortified. Skidding to his side, the firetruck swiftly assessed the situation, checking to make sure the helicopter was still alive.
"Y-You...c-came..." Blades rasped, wincing as he tried to sit up.
"Of course I'd come!" Heatwave replied, shocked at his statement. "How can I not?!"
"W-Well, I g-guess...you're... right a-after all... I'm... weak..." Blades murmured, losing consciousness.
"No no no- YOU STAY ONLINE, BLADES!" Heatwave ROARED. Growling, he gently lifted the injured mech up, shutting his optics as he heard the pained whines from Blades.
"You're NOT WEAK! YOU HEAR ME!?" Heatwave yelled as he pounded back to base, sprinting as fast as he could with the injured bot in his arms. "YOU WILL PULL THROUGH THIS, PRIMUS-DAMN YOU!"
"H-Heatwave... "
"THAT'S AN ORDER!" Heatwave's voice cracked as his vision went blurry but kept moving.
After all, they were racing against time.
---
Heatwave didn't bother to remember how long he stayed by Blades side as he saw the mech peacefully in stasis on the medical berth as Ratchet worked on him. The yellow and white mech's injuries were so major that Ratchet was forced to groundbridge in to repair the mech.
"He is safe now. Just let him rest and keep away from flying for the period of time, okay?" Ratchet advised, putting away his medical tool.
"Will do. Thank you for your help, Ratchet." Heatwave monotonously replied, optics still trained on Blades.
"One more thing." Ratchet said, making the mech face the old medic.
"Yes sir?"
"I know that look. You're clearly smitten with him. Just let it out Heatwave. Because if anything, that mech has returned the same feelings to you since day one." The grumpy medic huffed. His toolbox dangled by his side as the worn-out ambulance advised the stubborn firetruck.
"It's not-"
"You finish the fragging sentence, I bloody dare you." Ratchet growled, raising his wrench in the air. Heatwave backtracked his words and kept quiet, slowly digesting the doctor's words.
"You keep playing around with the mech any longer, and you'll live to regret it." Ratchet added, his words stinging the Rescue team leader's spark.
"But I-I..."
"Seems innocent, right? Calling him out and plucking his mistakes on a daily basis?"
"HOW DID YOU KNOW?!"
"Oh, I don't; thanks for proving my theory correct." Ratchet smirked victoriously. "I'm a doctor, Heatwave. That's like asking you how the hell are you able to put out fire;that's your job and so is mine in this scenario."
"Right..."
"Even so-"
"H-Heatwave is n-nice...J-Just not e-everyday...." Blades suddenly cut in, scaring the scrap out of Heatwave.
"Blades!" the mech cried out, clutching Blades's servo with care.
"Hmph. My work is done. Excuse me, if you'd please." Ratchet grunted and walked into the bridge, dissappearing through the swirling portal.

"You stayed alive."Heatwave commented, averting his optics from Blades.
"A b-bot forced me t-to make sure I-I stay a-alive." Blades smiled softly. "And that mech... He's reaaaaallly a-annoying... But I won't have him any other way."
Blinking a few times, Heatwave finally snapped out of his daze and chuckled deeply, dropping his tensed shoulders after long last.
"Yeah. And that injured bot? He's the bravest mech I've ever known... But somehow, the other bot, the bossy one, just feels so overprotective of that guy and he blames himself every time the clumsy one gets into trouble." Heatwave casted a brief sad look before replacing it with his picture-perfect smile.
Though, the mech is just a shitty person. A total jerk, I tell ya... But he is also the one who wants to protect the other guy from harms or scary movies. " Heatwave sighed and rubbed the injured mech's helm. "All the time." he whispered into Blades audial receptors.
"P-Promise?" The helicopter replied, voicing going soft at the end as he pressed his face plate close to Heatwave's chassis.
Heatwave sighed in content and nodded, placing a soft peck to his forehelm as he replied the dozing helicopter.
"You have my very word."

driver’s license
cause you said forever, now I drive alone passed your street [au where suna is a doctor specialized in memory removal and his last patient of the day is his ex]
pairing: suna rintarou + fem!reader genre: pain, angst, doctor!suna + patient!reader tags//warning: medical procedure of mind erasing, slight suicide ideation, alcohol abuse note: the obligatory trio of mine: not well edited, lowercase intended, english isnt my first language im sorry if i murder it. the songs made me brawled i had to write something about it and i just so happened to finish haikyuu
“it’s odd,” he looked up from the computer screen, osamu approached him pointing to the screen, the last name listed in the appointment schedule under dr suna rintarou. please don’t say it please don’t say anything, he begged silently in his head. “she kinda has her name. haven’t heard her name in ages,” osamu shrugged, grabbing his next patient’s files, “want to get lunch later?” the doctor popped in another stick of gum, leaving before suna could even said a word.
funny that osamu said that. that is his girlfriend. he moved the cursor and clicked at the name. the birthplace, the date, her eye colour, the address and her number; it matches everything he ever memorized of her. except they are no longer together. it has been a month since their breakup.
she’s an architect. not by choice but she likes art. she’s talented and had once held an art show during school’s open day where they met. she didn’t draw him until they started dating, but she had known some of his close friends who was the subject of her drawings. her parents disproved of her ambitious and to compromise, she agreed to take architectural instead. she stopped drawing completely and suna was the only person in japan that has the largest collection of her paintings stuffed in boxes and behind shelves.
suna rintarou has been a doctor in inarizaki institute for 5 years now. inarizaki institute was different from others. it was the only medical institution that had successfully developed a procedure to remove unwanted memories. he’s one of the qualified doctors for said procedure. he had done the procedure multiple times now, even on his former high school friends and families but never his own girlfriend.
is it him she’s removing from her memories?
he didn’t remember how they broke up. maybe it’s because he was too busy. maybe it’s because she had fallen out of love with him. maybe they just couldn’t stand being in each other’s spaces, but it happened so quickly. she moved out from their apartment, returned when he left to clear out her stuff and he just threw himself back to work.
he did remember how they met. she was the miya brothers’ neighbor. one night when he came to visit them during semester break years ago, they were in their parents’ car with a girl. suna felt like he had recognized but couldn’t think of where or when. “oi, suna,” the window rolled down and asamu called him over, “come in!” despite being weirded out, he entered the back door of the car. “we are teaching our friend how to drive; can you believe it? she’s in our university and can’t drive to save a life.”
“shut the fuck up, atsumu or i’ll run you over,” she muttered angrily as she moved the driving gear.
suna saw the stick going down to reverse instead down further and he immediately reached for her hand. the girl startled at the stranger’s sudden touch. “what the fuck are you d-doing?” she choked up.
“you’re going to reverse into the wall,” he muttered bluntly, pouting his mouth to the gear. grabbing the stick through her hand, he pulled the gear into drive before letting her hand go. the light from the post shined in and he could see red flush on her face as she nodded, “oh okay, yeah d,” she muttered to herself. she started driving. she wasn’t exactly bad; she just needed a lot of practice.
so he came over every day of his semester break and accompanied them as she practiced her driving.
“i can drive you home?” she offered on the last night of his break before he returned to school.
“you don’t have too.”
“i insisted,” to which suna agreed and she glanced back at the miya brothers, “get the fuck out.” despite their disgruntlement and the it’s my mum’s car argument, she managed to kick them out. it was just two of them together. “so, i know we went to same high school and university. how come we have never crossed path before?” she questioned as she took her first turn. she memorized the roads to his home. suna shrugged as he fidgeted with the corner of the jacket’s zipper, “i played volleyball in high school.”
she chuckled, “i’ve never watched any sport matches in high school, sorry. anyway, i’m a last year architectural student by the way. are you taking the same course as osamu?” she glanced at him with a smile. his heart skipped a beat. “y-yeah. i’m in my 5th year of medical.”
“why not volleyball player?”
“i got bored.”
she let a soft exhale and shrugged, “fair enough. i took architectural to please my mother so i’m in no position to give any advice.” she slowed down in front of his house before pulling into a full stop. she pulled into parking and pulled the hand brake. she smiled and fist pumped herself, “did you see that? perfect stop!” suna didn’t expect what was going to happen next. he watched out of control as his arm reached out for her face and pulling her close. what he remembered being in control was asking her boldly whether he could kiss her.
her eyes sparkled and she smiled so widely, “yes.”
so, he did.
she moved into his apartment at the end of his graduation. she didn’t get any job for the first few months while he entered inarizaki institute as medical officer. she took commissions online and waited tables while going to a couple of interviews. he saw a decline in her motivation. when suna returned one night, he found her behind the sofa, drunk out of her mind. what spooked him wasn’t the bottles of whiskey on the floor but the stainless-steel paint scrapper she stabbed the canvas with. she could’ve hurt herself. but, putting her into therapy and pulling strings with some of her friends, she recovered, and he got her an interview. suna watched as she dreadfully shoved her portfolios and files into her bag.
“you’ll be alright,” he reassured, bringing her a cup of coffee. she sighed and pushed her bangs back, “i don’t know, rin. i just don’t feel like getting another rejection after another and then i’ll just spiral into a-” he stopped her rambling with a kiss. he tasted like coffee; she tasted like their toothpaste. every time she tried to pull away, he pulled her back into the kiss and she could feel him laughing against her lips. “this is going to turn into something else,” she whispered between the kiss and he nodded. he was half aroused. she drank the coffee and kissed him one last time. he felt her fingers slipped from his grip. she stood by the door and waved back.
“see you?” she beamed.
“always.”
suna snapped out of his own memory when an alarm blared out. he looked up past the nurses’ counter and saw a patient being pushed out of room B by a couple of nurses. he knew what goes on in that room; he helped in perfecting the procedure. osamu followed soon. he tugged the blue gloves off and shoved them into the yellow bin. “you would not believe who I met in the waiting room?” by the look of his face, osamu already got the feeling that suna already knew. osamu flipped his file and pulled out a pen. he signed the bottom of the pages and dumping it in the completed pile. “did she tell you?” suna asked.
“about?” the other doctor asked.
“the memories she’s erasing. did she tell you?”
osamu shook his head and pocketed his hand in the white coat. “she asked about you. whether you’re around. i said yeah, he’s on call and she just smiled.” suna stood up and grabbed the file. he felt conflicted. osamu stopped the man before he could enter the room. “look man, I’m sorry about whatever happen between you guys and I’m in no position to judge at all.”
suna shrugged and smiled, “it’s fine. we were just ruining each other.” the other man nodded understandingly before excusing himself. suna wanted to move but his feet felt heavy. he was glued down. room B was just a few feet away, but he couldn’t move. this is it. the end of them.
he forced himself into the room. standing in front of the panels and monitor, separating him and her was a one-way mirror. she sat on the seat, talking to the nurses in charge. his heart hurts. she had bangs now framing her face. she’s slight thinner and no longer wore the charm bracelet he gave during their first anniversary. the nurse placed a heart-beat monitor on her thumb and attached a couple more of sensors to her brain, forehead, and neck. his monitor lightened up and spitted out the information. this is it. “doctor, she’s requesting of removal of memory from 2009 up to last month,” the nurse’s words went in his ears and out. it’s of him.
all his own memories flashed through his mind.
the memories of every kisses, hugs, the late nights and the earliest of days, the coffees, the spilled paints. memories of every tear he ever wiped and for ever meals she had ever cooked. memories of all the paints of him that she had gifted to him and every night she drove down his streets. for every missed calls and unread texts. the way she touched him and the way she made him felt. he felt suffocated.
how could he ever love someone else?
“everything is accordingly. you may press the start, doctor.”
he looked at the flashing button and back to her. she was looking right at him. she might not see him, but she is looking straight at him and she looked so beautiful. a small smile appeared on her lips as her fingers fidgeted nervously. he felt tears prickling his eyes. his fingers brushed against the button and he slowly pressed it.
it took them 7 years to build this much of memories together and it took him 3 minutes to erase it clean from her mind.
she was drowsy and she had tears running down her face. the nurses rushed in after the red light disappeared and green light beamed. the alarm rang. another memory successfully. “I’m okay, I’m okay.” he heard her from the opened door. shutting off the machine, he immediately rushed out for the door, feared that he might bumped into her and lost it. he hid his shaking hands in his pocket and gritted his teeth.
“doctor?”
he stopped. the world stopped spinning and he felt lightheaded. the way she called for him didn’t change, the tone and the pronunciation were the same. it was always melodious yet painful. he turned around to see her being wheelchaired out of the room by the nurse. her eyes were slightly red, and her nose were puffy. the nurse passed her a cup of water. she smiled politely, thanking her and took the cup in her hand. she took a sip, coughing at the coldness of the water down her dried throat. it’s the side effect of the procedure.
“have we met before?” she asked, innocently.
suna shook his head and smiled weakly, “no, we haven’t.” he turned to the nurse and nodded. before the nurse could ushered her away, she called him out again.
with a smile on her face, she waved goodbye, “see you, doctor?”
“always.”
