Disney Princess Challenge #07 - Lavender's Blue

SHIYO IN THE AREA! Today's update won't be story-heavy like the ones that have been posted lately. This is because I focused more on the gameplay instead instead of making new storylines in the past few days. ^^

Cinderello's married life was going wonderful so far. He's the definition of a perfect househusband, and Henrietta couldn't be happier with the one she chose to be her soulmate... Just as much as he was happy to have her on his life!

He's got a lot more of free time now — which is great! When he's not taking care of little Tian, Cinderello tries to improve his knitting skills — one of his favorite hobbies, as stated at the beginning of episode 5. Knitting was a therapeutic activity that reminded him of the past, and he mastered that skill pretty quick.

Lots of things changed in the past years, but at his heart, Cinderello was the very same little Grumpy Dwarf. And his characteristic grumpiness still unleashed very often, even though no bad things were happening!

Stomping on puddles before mopping them, kicking the trash before cleaning the house, and smashing his son's toyhouse without any mercy (but repairing it later to avoid making Tian cry — Cinderello was a VERY good father)...

Speaking of Tian, he has grown up a little! He's a quirky little Independent toddler, ready to learn more about the world with his adorable family. Cinderello was a very protective father, and pampered a LOT his little baby.

Tian was Cinderello's most precious treasure in the world...

COME ON, HE LOOKS SO CUTE TRYING TO BE A GOOD DAD!!!

One day, Princess Henrietta brought a vintage gramophone from one of the countries she visited while in a spy mission. Thanks to it, Cinderello and Tian could spend a whole day jamming together to hip-hop songs. A perfect family activity...

...that would persist through the years! Tian’s toddlerhood ended in a high note as he developed the Top-Notch Toddler trait, just like his father, and became a Perfectionist kid.

No matter how much Tian was growing up, Cinderello kept showering him with knitted gifts, hugs and praises! Whoever accused him of spoiling his child would have to face the wrath of the perpetually hot-headed grumpy prince.

Ah, they were such a happy family...

Could it be? Finally an arc with a happy ending in this challenge?! Well, it’s too soon to tell... Find out what happens in the next post, the dramatic interlude between Cinderello and Tian’s arcs! THE DRAMA IS COMING!

Trivia:

• Both of Cinderello and Tian's initial Aspirations were completed! I simply REFUSED to move on with the challenge before achieving this.

• Today's post title is a direct reference to a song Cinderella performed on Disney's live-action movie: “Lavender's Blue”.

• I forgot to lock the doors of Cinderello's new home, and because of it I got a legit JUMPSCARE while playing. There I was, at the balcony upstairs, serenely watching Tian doing his homework and listening to his favorite music genre. Suddenly a random ugly sim sat appeared out of nowhere and sat besides him, and I literally jumped out of my chair and screamed BEGONE!

Yan-Tao

Awhile back I had decided to paint an Cinderello series. Each painting would represent an different version of the Cinderello story and let me tell you, there are hundreds of versions! Chances are I'll never be able to draw every single version, there's just too many! However I will try to draw all the versions that are more famous as well as a few that are unheard of. So initially I had plan to used color pencils for this series however I really wanted to use my watercolors so the whole series will be made in watercolor. However the scanner I use doesn't do my drawings justice but oh well, once I ever get a better scanner, I'll re upload the drawings. The first of the series is Guren Nash (from Tenkai Knights) is the lead role of Yan-Tao aka "The Chinese Cinderello". Due to there being so many versions of this story, it is really difficult to pinpoint the original version and chances are since this story is so old, we'll never know for sure which is the original however fairy tale scholars agreed that this Chinese version is definitely old. Some even believe that this is the true grandmother of the fairy tale. It was first published in the 9th century in a compilation called "Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang" The story goes that a son of a female chief lived with his stepfather and half brother after his mother dies from the plague. He is treated poorly by his stepfather however he befriends a beautiful fish. Apparently the fish was a guardian spirit sent to him by his birth father. As the story goes, the stepfather finds, kills and eats the fish leaving only its bones. However the spirit of Yao-Tao's ancestor comes to him saying to bury the fish bones and they will grant any wish he desires. A festival comes around and while the stepfather and half brother leave, not allowing Yao-Tao to attend, however he wishes to the fish bones for fine clothing so he could go to the festival which comes true. He goes to the festival however leaves fearing his half-brother will recognize him, he leaves behind a golden boot. The boot is found and pass to one person to another until it reaches the queen. The queen becomes curious of the owner of the shoe and proclaims she will marry the man who could fit it. However the shoe fits no one, including the half-brother. The queen puts the boot on display where Yao-Tao ties to take it back but is caught. He is taken to the queen where he explains everything and is release. The queen visits him at his home asking him to be her husband, however the stepfather lies claiming the shoe and hanfu belongs to the half brother and Yao-Tao had stolen them. But the queen refuse to believe him, took Yao-Tao as her king and she banishes the stepfather and son to the wilderness. The image of the fish was an important part of the story so I made sure to include it into the picture. I also gave him fish bone crown. The shoe was describe as a golden boot so that was included too. Overall I really wish one day we get a movie adaptation of this story. It's very interesting view compare to the modern Cinderello we have today.

Yan-Tao: A Cinderello Story from China (ヤンタオ：中国のシンデレロ物語, Yantao: Chūgoku no Shinderero Monogatari, lit. "Yan-Tao: A Chinese Cinderello Story") is the twelfth episode of the fourth season of Lilo and Goku: Equestria Girls - CBS Storybreak and the first episode overall.   Summary This book was quite different than the traditional Cinderello tale I am used to, but loved it. The protagonist is a young boy named Yan-Tao (role played by Guren Nash). His mother is a chief, who married two men. She dies and leaves Yan-Tao in the care of his step father. Yan-Tao is nicer and prettier than his step brother and this causes his step father to treat Yan-Tao Horribly. Yan-Tao has a fish that he talks to and feeds everyday. His step father hears about the fish and disguises himself as Yan-Tao and takes the fish and kills it for supper. Yan-Tao was very upset about this. As he is crying a woman appears wearing a corset and long hair. She tells him that the bones of the fish are filled with a special spirit and that anytime she desires something, she must kneel over and tell the bones what he desires. Soon, it is time for a festival where people go to find husbands. Yan-Tao is never allowed to go because the step father fears that Yan-Tao will find a wife sooner than the step son. Yan-Tao wants to go really bad and tells his desires to the bones. Soon he is dressed beautifully with golden boots. He wears these golden shoes to the festival, but loses one when he runs away in fear of being caught/seen by the step brother and step father as they near him (they think they recognize him). He leaves one golden boot behind. Soon the Queen (role played by Beni) gets a hold of his boot and wants to find who it was that owns this shoe. Many try to fit into this shoe, but cannot. One night, Yan-Tao goes to get the boot and gets caught. The Queen is outraged that someone would try to steal the boot. She can not believe that someone wearing rags that smells like a dog would assume ownership of this boot. Will he prove he is the owner of the boot? Will he finally get the fairly tale ending? Without telling the ending, I think this was a great twist on the traditional fairy tale that I am used to.
