I’m very excited to announce that The Stonesinger Chronicles is returning for season 2! For those of you who are fans of darker or horror oriented podcasts out there this season might be the thing that gets you into the show.
Here is a description of the season:
Six souls are trapped in the depths of the treacherous land called The Web. They are stranded, the bridge to the main route destroyed. They have nothing in common except their flight from a madman, their distrust of one another, and their desire to survive. But if they wish to survive, they must learn to work together.
All hold secrets.
All have desires.
And all wonder about the eldritch land they are trapped in.
Meanwhile, a lone scribe - the last of their order - isolates themself to read over documents hidden deep in the archives of The Church of Deepstone. They search for answers, but flee a threat of their own.
All search for the answers this mysterious land poses.
And all must sacrifice to The Carnage of Dreams.
For more information and a little sneak peak, here is an announcement that includes 5 minutes of the first episode

This is a very solid list. If I may add:
The Antique Shop: (Supernatural, Urban Fantasy) University student Maya takes a job at an antique shop run by the enigmatic Madame Norna. Every item in the shop is strange in its own way, but often it takes someone buying it to find out what.
Counterbalance: (Fantasy, Adventure) Three individuals go on a quest to fix a hole in the very fabric of magic itself. A well-detailed world, interesting magic and magitech, and a refreshing array of accents.
Desperado: (Urban Fantasy, Supernatural, Adventure, Action, Horror Elements) Three young people, all under the patronage of death gods, end up travelling together for different reasons: For safety, for revenge, and to kill The Old Man in The Sky. Interesting worldbuilding, great fight scenes, and exceptional banter.
The Harrowing of Minerva Damson: (Horror, Historical, Fantasy, Action, Supernatural) Set in alternate past during the first world war, where an order of monster-hunting lady knights has persisted for centuries. Featuring undead, headless horseman, unicorns, werewolves, and more, this one does not hold back on visceral violence.
Inn Between: (Fantasy, Adventure) Every wondered what your tabletop characters get up to at the tavern between adventures? With the main story told in "previously on" and "next time on" segments, Inn Between follows 5 adventurers on a grand quest, as they grow as people, and as a family. Not a tabletop.
Sidequesting: (Fantasy, Adventure, All-Ages) Rion is an adventurer like no other: they only do side quests. So long as it doesn't involve that evil wizard they keep hearing about, they're willing to give a hand to anyone who needs it, and find themself in some interesting scenarios as a result. This one is wholesome and good for the heart.
Skyjacks: Courier's Call: (Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy, Tabletop, All-Ages) Three lively young teens set out on an exciting adventure as apprentice posties on a skyship. Featuring giant birds, sky pirates, strange magic, and original worldbuilding. This is a spinoff of Campaign: Skyjacks, which is also very good.
Starfall: (Fantasy, Adventure, Slice of Life Elements) Leona, mysterious swordswoman fleeing an unkind past life, joins up with an acting troupe. Stagehand Fel, escaping a past of his own, takes a shine to her and helps introduce the (both literal and metaphorical) magic of theatre.
The Stonesinger Chronicles: (Fantasy) A brilliantly talented travelling mage takes on two unconventional young students and finds her hands full for every unexpected reason. Especially given what she's already dealing with. This one is a told story with an interesting magic system and an original world.
Stories From Ylelmore: (Slice of Life, Urban Fantasy, All-ages) The everyday adventures (and misadventures) of three kids in an interesting town. Or, a witch, a werewolf, and a curse-bearer try not to get into trouble while solving supernatural mysteries! It's very sweet and does a good job at blurring the borders of mundanity and magic, in both directions.
any good fantasy podcasts out there that aren't Alba Salix?

Underrated Action Adventure Travel Audio Dramas
Want to experience an action road trip? I’ve discovered a number of travel adventure/action adventure/fantasy adventure audio dramas (aka stories where the characters go on a quest or a journey like Alice in Wonderland, Avatar the Last Airbender, or the Percy Jackson series) and a lot of them have very low attention? So here’s a list of some of them. Check back occasionally as I add more!
Last updated January 2022!
Now onto the underrated audio drama podcasts:
Dreambound: Technically it’s set in a video game, but Jesse is stuck in an virtual reality RPG as his genderflipped avatar and must complete various quests as he tries to escape the game. All the details, from script/storytelling to voice acting to sound design to music, will also impress any gamer cause it feels like you’re playing the game too.
@gayfuturepod-blog: Gay Future is a satire about a dystopian future with reverse prosecution where the entire world is gay or lesbian. The actual plot is like Avatar the Last Airbender where the protagonist must travel around to master a bunch of skills to defeat the big bad. I’ve probably recommended this a dozen times and I will keep recommending it.
@go-hulm: Hulm podcast is about Brant, who gets trapped in a fantasy world, and Meydinyör, whose trying to rescue her girlfriend. The summary of “a himbo and a lesbian make a deal to help each other” is pretty accurate. Some other thoughts- I love how almost every guy flirts with Brant (confirmed himbo in dialogue) and that there’s some darker stuff beneath the ridiculous whackiness. If you liked Sidequesting, you will definitely enjoy this and Hulm has like no attention anywhere.
Hit the Bricks: Set 100 years after the original Wizard of Oz, cousins Jessi and Wallace are transported to the land of Oz and must journey to save it and return home. This is a super catchy musical and really expands the world of Oz.
Rifted: Set in a military state fantasy world, with rebels, bounty hunters and revolutionaries. Aurora and his friend/enemy/lover Daniel are constantly on the run trying to survive. If you liked The Two Princes, you’ll like this as well. This audio drama also has next to no attention.
@sidequestingpod : This one is a widely recommended indie audio drama, but still rather underrated. Rion is a traveler fulfilling sidequests in a fantasy world in an attempt to avoid the main plot. Also, lots and lots of queer characters.
@starfallpodcast: Leona, a mysterious and awkward warrior with magic swords, joins a traveling theatre troupe and they encounter various misadventures along the way. Also lots of queer characters!
@songonauts-blog: This one is very different from all the others- it’s a musical where an underrated rock band is traveling in and out of the Songoverse, an alternate universe inside songs. The music is great, the concept is really well done, fits the audio drama medium perfectly, and is lowkey commentary about the music industry & social media. I mostly wanted to plug this in here cause it’s amazing and I don’t see anyone talking about it! (It’s vaguely travel-adjacent.)
The Stonesinger Chronicles: Whisper is a young street thief who’d rather read than steal; Talee is an orphan with a perfect memory and a penchant for making trouble. In this lush fantasy world, they are unwillingly training to become mages on their way to Io.
Some more that I haven’t listened to yet/haven’t finished listening:
Blood on Gold Mountain (based on a true story)
Flying in the Face of Fate (mentioned NSFW)
Upcoming: Human Error (zombie + road trip!)
The Once & Future Nerd
Radio Outcast
Temujin
The Tower
In the meantime, these are more well known ones that I’ve listened to (which if you haven’t already listened to, you should check out anyways!). Some of these might overlap with my horror recommendation post or a future post I have planned for cyberpunk/steampunk audio dramas.
Alice Isn’t Dead
The Blood Crow Stories, season 2
Caravan (NSFW)
Desperado Podcast- this one is not as famous as the others, but it has fanart and some tumblr presence, definitely check it out!
Fall of the House of Sunshine
The Left Right Game
The Leviathan Chronicles (includes land, air, and ocean travels!)
The Two Princes
I’m always looking for more recommendations as well, so if you have any, let me know!

Six souls are trapped in the treacherous land called The Web. To survive they must learn to trust each other... and trust no one else.
The Stonesinger Chronicles is a one man show. It’s a narrated, epic dark fantasy story with lush sound effects and a unique orchestral score. If you’re a fan of The Magnus Archives and The Stormlight Archive you won’t want to miss this!

With Season 2 of The Stonesinger Chronicles coming up, I figured it would help people to get a visual idea of how the world is laid out. Voila! This is a map I commissioned from the incredibly talented Tar Atore showing the current world of The Stonesinger Chronicles.
It was thrilling to work with someone as talented as Tar to take the incredibly rough (and boy do I mean rough!) sketches I had of this world and watch her masterfully turn it into a work of art.
I hope you all enjoy as well.
