Edith: Hey there! You’re starting to waddle like a duck.
Gemma: (dryly) Thanks for noticing.
Edith: You’re welcome. This here is Brad, Brad Taggart.
B’zad: I’m pleased to meet you, Gemma.
Gemma: The pleasure is all mine.
Edith: He’s the guy I lost my V-card to in the barn.
Gemma’s mouth opened, and her eyes grew big.
Edith: Shut your mouth before you suck down a fly. I was wrong about the alien stuff. We were both tripping, and I might have hallucinated a bit.
Gemma: (slowly) Okay.
Edith: He came back to town to find me. I guess I’m unforgettable.
Edith cackled while B’zad smiled at her like she hung the moon.
Gemma looked from one to another. Did Brad know how crazy Edith was? Was he crazy, too? Was he who he said he was? Was Edith being conned?
Edith: (loudly) Listen here, everyone! I have an announcement to make! Brad and I are getting hitched!
The room broke out in a discordant mixture of congratulations and annoyed seniors who had counted on winning the betting pool.
Gemma: (stunned) You-- You are-- You’re getting married? When?
Edith: Just as soon as we can sort out the living arrangements.
Gemma: That soon?
Edith: I’m seventy-three for chrissakes. You expect me to have a long engagement? And look who’s talking, Miss Married-Markus-months-after-meeting-him.
Gemma: Touché.
Edith: (to B’zad) Hold on. I need to have a girl talk with Gremma.
Edith grabbed Gemma’s arm with surprising strength and led Gemma down the hall.
Gemma: That is one helluva grip, Edith.
Edith: It comes from giving hand jobs. I can’t give head anymore because my false teeth would fall out. And I like my teeth in when I’m getting laid.
Gemma: Oh my gods! I did not need to know that.
Edith sniffed disdainfully and shook her head.
Edith: You’re such a puritan. How you landed a hot-blooded man like Markus, I’ll never know.
Gemma: I am not a puritan! We have a very adventurous sex life.
Edith: (dismissively) If you say so, honey. Listen, Brad wants to find the kid to check on him.
Gemma: The baby you gave up for adoption?
Edith: Yeah. Not right away. We gotta figure out our living arrangements first. But soon.
Gemma didn’t need one more thing on her plate, but she didn’t want to let her friend down. Plus, as Edith said, she was seventy-three. Alfred lost his son at too young of an age and missed the opportunity to meet his granddaughter.
Gemma: Of course. Just say the word, and I’ll do everything that I can.
Edith: You’re a good friend, Gemma.
Gemma: Does the engagement mean you’ll stop sending me AI nudes? And you’ll stop writing reverse harem romances featuring you, Oscar, Ivan, and Wyatt.
Edith scoffed and rolled her eyes.
Edith As if! I’m trying out a new genre called Omegaverse and just wrote my first knotting scene.

Later that day, Stephanie and Mariko take Nancy to the Celebration of Life festival. Stephanie gently explains to Nancy that this is a festival to celebrate lost loved ones and Nancy nods as she eyes the empty memorial. With assistance from her mom, she lights a candle for her great aunt Nancy, who she was named after. Her mom told her that Nancy was playful, bright, and lit up any room she was in with her jokes and kindness, and she was a favorite auntie to her. She'd passed too young, and Nancy knew her mom and grandpa Joe missed her so much. "I hope you're happy and in a good place. I never got to meet you but I feel like we would be best friends if we did." Nancy whispers as she holds the candle.
Nancy then asks her mom if she can go to the haunted well. "Sure, but you have to come back before 6pm. And call me or Ren if you go anywhere else or something happens." Stephanie says after some hesitation. Nancy nods and she heads off to the well and sees Edith, who's surprised to see her. "Hey Edie, it's me Nancy." She says and Edith nods slowly. "It's okay if you're not too talkative. Mom and Ren say I'm so talkative that I can talk for two sims." Nancy says with a grin and Edith gives her an almost teasing look. "You're being sassy to me, huh?" Nancy jokes. Edith must not be in a communicative mood because she floats back over to her grave. Nancy decides to head back, getting randomly shocked by a puddle* left by Edith on the way back.
At home, Riley is making dinner and they try to impress Stephanie by sliding a bowl across one arm to the next. "Wow, baby. How did you keep it from falling?" Stephanie asks. "It's just a trick I perfected. You don't want to know how many empty bowls I dropped while practicing." They say with a grin. "Still, it's very impressive." Stephanie says and Riley turns to wink at her. "Nan just texted me. She's coming home." Stephanie adds and Riley nods as they prep some stuff. "Good." They say, exchanging a relieved look with Stephanie. "Maybe we could even woohoo tonight now that both kids are going to be safe and sound in their beds instead of exploring haunted wells." Stephanie says and Riley smiles. "Yeah, once the kids and my parents go to bed we can pick up where we left off, Mrs. Takamura." They add flirtatiously and Stephanie blushes.

🖥️ Evolution of The Sims technologies
This is information by conversation from 🌎 #ts3-beta-chat channel in The Sims 2 Beta Discord Server about on which engine each game of The Sims series is developed and what technologies are used by each game of the series.
Just to offer clarity/summarize the above:
1. TS1 is built on top of MFC (Edith) and Gonzo/Rizzo. It uses a renderer which utilizes a mix of SC2K, SC3K, and Quake3D code.
2. TS2 extends TS1’s behavior engine but replaces the renderer with a new 3D engine, although it still uses the Gonzo development framework. It’s pretty much TS1 on steroids internally.
3. Sims 3 is overhauled and doesn’t use any of the tech from TS1/TS2, although it retains several assets ported over. It uses a new behavior engine (no name, but it uses traits/commodities instead) and Renderware (plus other stuff like Speedtree) for the 3D engine.
4. Sims 4 is once again built on a new engine, in anticipation of the game being an MMOG instead of single player. It loosely extends GlassBox from SC2013 (dubbed SmartSim now) but they pretty much have to overhaul it to remove the multiplayer aspect, so it really ends up becoming its own thing. It doesn’t reuse anything from TS3 except the concept of the traits/commodities behavior engine being used for SmartSim.

The Sims 1 Edith Leak
Hey!
Some of y'all probably seen this already, but recently a debug build of TS1 with Edith included was released:
Edith is a program that runs alongside the game, allows you to modify and create objects and behaviors during runtime. Any changes you make to interactions, scripts, etc. Will take effect and save in realtime.
Tips under the cut.
Here are some tips, if you wish to check it out:
Set your PC registry to English (US) for Sims if you run into any issues like crashes. The game complains (crashes) sometimes with other languages due to the weirdness of the build. -Always run the game in windowed mode (-w) or Edith won’t work. Shortcuts are already included with command line arguments for window mode. -No CD patch required, this version of the game comes with no disc or SecuROM requirements. Only objects made for v1.0 will probably work (or at least anything that doesn't use newer SimAntics functions), so no EP items or mods made for later versions (unless you know if they’re compatible with v1.0 generally). You’ll need to load a lot to get started. Press “E” to launch Edith, press “M” for $1000 (hurray, no more rosebud!;!;!; required). You can try seeing what other keys work - "L" launches the lighting editor, for example. There's a lot of developer cheats which are enabled in this build that don't work (or don't exist) in the release version of the game. You can find a list of these cheats at https://tcrf.net/The_Sims_(Windows)/Developer_Tools or by using the help cheat. The most useful cheats are "debug_social on" (lets you decide whether an interaction is accepted or denied by another sim), "all_menus on" (lets you use all the interactions on an object, including debug options - similar to the console cheats), "money [amount]" (lets you set your household balance), and "visitor_control on" (lets you control visitor sims including NPCs using the spacebar to switch characters). Edith can be finicky and has lot of knobs/dials, so best not to fiddle too much with anything that seems mysterious or unintentional. Generally avoid the "default" menu options like New/Open/Save/Print/etc. Your best bets are the object browser and module inspector. All changes made to an object’s tree or properties are saved in real time (for the most part), there’s no undo button. Try to stick to running the regular Sims.exe, not the Sims_Debug.exe, since the latter throws C++ errors regularly and can crash.

I foubd soething sort of interesting a few months ago that I never really talked about.
So in SimPE you can see a few objects that aren't in-game. I already made a post about the fashion show object but these others I never posted about.
The two most interesting were the neighborhood prepper which looks like it was used to set up the premade hoods. The other is "Edith Tutorial" which looks like it was used to teach employees to use Edith. It doesn't seem to do anything now.
I hope one day we get ahold of betas for TS2 and Edith like we did for TS1.
