The Outlaw Orchestra-Outlaw This Christmas-EP Review-Planetmosh
As Noddy Holder would holler,”It’s Christmasssss!” and it wouldn’t really be so without some fun tunes as the nutty The Outlaw Orchestra provide two helpings of merry mirth with their recently released double track EP Outlaw This Christmas. The A-Side title track ‘Outlaw This Christmas’ is a shit kicking amalgamation of Primal Scream and Elton John as soundbites of ‘Getcha Rocks Off’ and…

Song Review: Wilco - “Space Oddity” (Live)
Judging from their live version of “Space Oddity,” Wilco could be a David Bowie cover band - among many other things - if they chose to go that route.
It’s not that Wilco imitate Bowie on the mostly faithful rendering of the track - they do not. But just as Wilco sometimes can’t help sounding like ELO sounding like John Lennon, on “Space Oddity,” they cannot avoid sounding like Bowie.
And they certainly captured his vibe.
Released Jan. 8, on the occasion of what should have been Bowie’s 76th birthday, the song also announces the April 19 arrival of the various-artists’ Live on the Mountain Stage: Outlaws and Outliers LP. Jason Isbell, Steve Earle, Molly Tuttle, Alison Krauss, Watchhouse and others also appear on the album.
Grade card: Wilco - “Space Oddity” (Live) - A-

Your post was, in fact, correct. I am very interested in floppy disc Curt. I don't even have anything specific to ask. Just tell me ideas you have about it ig. I just want more floppy disc Curt content. This au is amazing. I am very normal about it (lying). DC is such a little guy AND it has angst? I don't even like angst most of the time but this au is just... Idk, something about it just clicks for me.
Sry for the fact that I'm not actually asking a question.
AHH! I'm so glad you like it! It's been the only thing on my brain for a while now!
As for ideas floating around my head, I finally put together a playlist for DC!
There's a decent mixture of instrumentals and songs with lyrics and while I can definitely justify some of the lyrical songs. the instrumental ones are purely based on vibes and you're gonna have to trust me.
Here's some of the highlights lyric-wise
Satellite Orchestra - Barnaby's Chair (from Hypnospace Outlaw)
A Human's Touch - TWRP
Hello World - Louie Zong
The Man Who Sold the World - Midge Ure

Caretaker Part 1
Okay, so I just finished Caretaker, the 2 part season premiere of Voyager. It's been a while, so there's stuff I forgot was there. Some of it was good. Some of it was, omg. But let's see if I can post my review, which is a series of notes I made while watching. I hope for more discussion later.
That thingy you're running into means you're screwed, Chakotay
Star Wars Crawl
Okay we start out with words on a screen. There’s this group of federation citizens called the Maquis who didn’t agree with Starfleet’s moronic treaty that are fighting the Cardassians and some say they are heroes and the Federation says they are outlaws. Yay I saw the Maquis on Ds9! I can’t wait to see more of them. (cough)
Scene 1: Maqui Ship. Chakotay and Maquis crew trying to outrun Cardassians. Yay! Chakotay is a really assertive leader here. I’m excited. We have a coherent tetryan beam. I hate those incoherent ones.
Wave hits them and light and we have Voyager credits. Good theme song. Love the orchestra.
Scene 2: Federation penal colony. In New Zealand?
That's right, bitches, I'm here.
Janeway shows up at the penal colony to find Tom Paris who could maybe find the Maquis cause he served with them before they kicked him out just like Starfleet did.
I'm really tough. I don't have Daddy issues.
She tells Tom he is an observer and he whines about being a good pilot. Except for the pilot error that got three people killed, oh nevermind. Just wait five minutes, Tom.
Scene 3 Tom is annoying on the shuttle to Voyager
Okay I have a question. Tom is wearing a Starfleet uniform. Why do observers still wear a uniform? Don’t you need to earn that?
Also: Pretty Betazoid Ensign Stadi (don't get used to her) informs Tom that Voyager has bio-nueral gel packs. They are so much more efficient. Unless there is cheese on board.
Scene 4 Harry is nearly conned for first time on space station ds9. Harry's theory: get con artists off your back by buying everything. Tom saves him cause he's as big of a con as Quark.
Oh, hey, is that Quark from Ds9 that other show you should watch?
Scene 5 Tom and Harry meet the Doctor
The Doc is super bitchy to them. I met he's gonna make stuff hard for Tom.
Scene 6 Janeway talks to fiancee
His name is Mark Johnson. Really. Unknown Truth: Tuvok's real last name is Smith. Anyway, the show has a few minutes to tell us who Mark is and why Janeway loves him. So they talk about her dog.
Nice knowin' ya, Mark
Janeway's dog is named Molly. She is expecting puppies. She likes her doggy bed. I am officially more invested in her dog now.
Scene 7 Junior High mess hall
Doctor and First Officer Cavitt, two of the most nondescript white guys ever (doctor isn't even named), gossip with Harry about what Tom did cause it's junior high and oh no these guys don't like Tom what will he do?
Scene 8 Wonder why it's called the Badlands
Plasma storms, more coherent beams, stuff is fine. What could go wrong? What's that bright light?
Scene 9 Voyager go boom
This is going to take FOREVER to fix!
Ship is transported 75,000 light years to the Delta Quadrant and they hit the breaks kinda hard. The ship is all messed up. So is Janeway's hair.
Where is my HAIRSPRAY?
A couple of shots later:
Seriously? It's hair magic!
Turns out that all command officers (including that pesky doctor and first officer) except Janeway and the entire medical staff are dead. What kind of bad karma does Janeway have? They get scanned and beamed off the ship.
Gonna stop here for a break so it's not so long. Stay tuned next time for Farmville and the evil corn on the cob lady.

[スタオケ] La Corda d'Oro Starlight Orchestra Main Story Chapter 2-9 Translation
*Starlight Orchestra Masterlist *Spoiler free: Translations will remain under cut *Main story tag will be #Main Starlight
Female Student 1: That was a brilliant concert~ What should we do now? Should we go to study in a nearby cafe?
Female Student 2: Sure! There’s an exam coming up, so we have to put in our due diligence.
Female Student 3: Why do I feel like we’ve all gotten much closer after we started holding study sessions together?
Female Student 2: Hehe. Right? I guess this is what you call the springtime of life.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Kirigaya: I’ve finished up things on my end.
Kirigaya: …Hm? And why are your eyes shining like that…
Seiji: You’re up to something. And I’m 90% sure that it’s nothing good.
⊳ Choice: Let’s hold a study session with all three of us!
Kirigaya: HUH? Me? Study with him? You’ve gotta be kiddin’...
Seji: The idea of holding a study session is sound, but getting this guy to sit in a chair for a prolonged period is nigh impossible.
Kirigaya: What, ya’ belittlin’ me?
Seiji: And there you have it. See? No need to force us to befriend each other.
And they get along swimmingly when they’re arguing with each other too…
Seiji: Judging from that look on your face, did you really think that we’d make up and be friends through a study session?
Akira: C’mon, don’t look so down. I’ll do it, but only if it doesn’t take long.
Seiji: And he took the bait… You’re one unsuspecting schemer, aren’t you?
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Seiji: (L/n)-san? You’ve been stuck on that question for a while now… Are you at your wit’s end yet?
Akira: Ya’ just have to look at the answer sheet for that, don’t you? If you copy the answers down, you’ll get it all down pat in a minute at most—
Akira: There isn’t one…? Damnnit, let me shimmy my way out of this like how I always do at least!
Seiji: Come now, don’t force such low standards onto her. Were the Concertmistress to stoop to your level, then this Orchestra is going to fall into ruin.
Akira: Ahh, I’m so glad your sly and studious bespectacled ass didn’t end up bein’ the Concertmaster. You’d ruin it for everyone.
They’d both been throwing insults at one another while studying.
⊳ Choice: You guys actually seem to be getting along better now…
Akira: Huh??? Seiji: I find it hard to understand just how you came to that conclusion.
⊳ Choice: You both fight like an old couple
Akira: No way in hell. Akira: If that’s true, then, surely, I must be best friends with the delinquents down in Ibaraki.
⊳ Choice: You’re both like two pieces of a puzzle!
Seiji: Poor thing’s hallucinating. Did you go scavenging for the wrong mushrooms?
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Akira: Ahhh, I can’t do this any longer. I’m outta here…
Akira: ….Huh? What’s this music sheet?
Akira: Is this… Mack the Knife?
Seiji: Oh? Do you play jazz too? I must say, that’s an interesting choice.
Seiji: Playing this song while hunting down the delinquents in Ibaraki…
⊳ Choice: What do you mean by that?
Seiji: This song is about outlaws. It's a Jazz standard. Akira: The townsfolk once heard rumors of a serial killer on the loose, and his name was Mack. You can't see him, but you can sense his presence.
⊳ Choice: I think it’s fitting
Akira: So you do get it! The lyrics are aggressive as well. Akira: It’s about outlaws. They remain strong in the face of adversity despite their fear, and they won’t bow down to those in power.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Akira: This guy can pull off the craziest stunts while remaining unseen. Don’t ya’ think that’s cool?
Seiji: However, not only was his identity revealed, but rumors had also started to spread. If he’s not a goner by then, then I don’t know what is.
Seji: I think I can handle it much better than him regardless of who I’m up against.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Looks like “Mack the Knife” has managed to catch their interest.
⊳ Choice: Why don’t you try playing it now?
Seiji: I knew you were going to say that sooner or later. Akira: Sure thing. It’s loads better than borin’ old studyin’.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Both of their performances perfectly complement each other.
It was harmony, something that we couldn’t attain in our prior practice sessions.
But… I feel like I’ve heard this resonance somewhere before…
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Tomoharu: Here, look. This video seems to have been taken from when the place was still in business.
Ginga: We can’t really see the other guy. The video’s too dark.
⊳ Choice: (No way… Was the other person from back then…)
Seiji: What is it? It's a little distracting when you stare at me like that.
⊳ Choice: I think I know now!
Akira: Know what? Seiji: Who knows? Perhaps she had a eureka moment regarding the question she was stuck on earlier.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆
Seiji: Miss Concertmistress here seems to have lost her focus as well. What do you say we end things here for today?
Akira: About time too. See you next time, (L/n)-san.
☆ ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♬Main Starlight♬◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ☆

Köçek (Turkey)
Köçek was a young effeminate, gender non-confirming person who cross-dressed in feminine attire, and was employed as an entertainer.Köçeks were recruited of several background and ways, such as by captives, slaves or devşirme (recruiting of boys from the Janissary corps) from the fourteenth to early eighteenth century. The culture of the köçek, which flourished from the 18th to the 19th century, had its origin in the customs in Ottoman palaces, & in particular in the harems.
A köçek would begin training around the age of seven or eight after he was circumcised and would be considered accomplished after about six years of study and practice. A dancer's career would last as long as he was clean shaven and retained his youthful appearance. The dances, collectively known as köçek oyunu, blended elements from throughout the empire, most importantly Turkish (like Karsilamas & Kaşık Havası) and oriental elements. They performed to a particular genre of music known as köçekçe, which was performed in the form of suites in a given melody. It too was a mix of Sufi, Balkan and Classical Anatolian influences. The accompaniment included various percussion instruments, such as the davul-köçek, the davul being a large drum, one side covered with goat skin and the other in sheep skin, producing different tones. A köçek's skill would be judged not only on his dancing abilities but also on his proficiency with percussion instruments, especially a type of castagnette known as the çarpare. The dancers were accompanied by an orchestra, featuring four to five each kaba kemençe and laouto as principal instruments, used exclusively for köçek suites. There were also two singers. A köçek dance in the Ottoman seraglio (palace harem) involved one or two dozen köçeks and many musicians. The occasions of their performances were wedding or circumcision celebrations, feasts & festivals, as well as the pleasure of the sultans and the aristocracy.
Portrait of an Ottoman Kocek
Koceks, often wearing heavy make-up, would curl their hair and wear it in long tresses under a small black or red velvet hat decorated with coins, jewels and gold. Their usual garb consisted of a tiny red embroidered velvet jacket with a gold-embroidered silk shirt, shalvar (baggy trousers), a long skirt and a gilt belt, knotted at the back. They were said to be "sensuous, attractive, effeminate", and their dancing "sexually provocative". Dancers minced and gyrated their hips in slow vertical and horizontal figure eights, rhythmically snapping their fingers and making suggestive gestures. Often acrobatics, tumbling and mock wrestling were part of the act.Köçek dance was performed in public spaces such as marketplaces, coffee houses, taverns & wine cellars.
Education was also provided to the köçek at enderȗn mektebi (the school of the palace) and only some were chosen to live in the inner part of the sultan’s palace. Others resided elsewhere and worked in the kol (in the guilds of craftsmen).
Decline
Despite its popularity, the kocek dance was controversial within Ottoman conservative religious and political leaders viewing it as immoral. As of 1805, there were approximately 600 köçek dancers working in the taverns of the Turkish capital. They were outlawed in 1837 due to fighting among audience members over the dancers. With the suppression of harem culture under Sultan Abdulaziz & Sultan Abdul Hamid II, köçek dance and music lost the support of its imperial patrons and gradually disappeared. Some köçeks dispersed to Anatolia and various Arab countries.
In Popular Culture
Today, the kocek dance is largely a historical artifact, although there are some efforts to revive the dance as a form of cultural heritage. The köçek dance exists in some parts of Anatolia, especially in the Kastamonu.Köçek boys are also sometimes referenced in popular culture, & has been featured in films, novels and other works of art that explore the history and culture of the Ottoman Empire.
There is a turkish movie Kocek, directed by Nejat Saydam. The movie follows the life of Caniko, a gender non-confirming gypsy, who struggles with his gender identity.

Spooky Video Game Music No. 280: Main Menu (Halloween Terror)- Overwatch 2 (PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X/Xbox One/Switch/PC/Steam)
It’s that time again! The spirits arise. 👻 Jack-o-Lanterns light up. 🎃 And the atmosphere becomes spooky. The Spooky Video Game Music list returns again! Starting off this year comes from the return of a Halloween event…
It’s been years since Dr. Junkenstein and his creation were defeated by 4 heroes. What none of us know is that he has a bride and she wants revenge for the death of her love. She kidnaps the Lord of the Castle and brought reinforcements to stop anyone trying to stop her. 4 new heroes, the Butcher (Junker Queen), the Outlaw (Ashe), the Sleuth (Sojourn) and the Fortune Teller (Kikiro) must team up to go through the streets of Aldersbrunn to save the Lord of the Castle. However, things may take a turn for the worse when many enemies like Zomnics, Gargoyles, Banshees, and other threats come to stop our heroes. Teamwork is the key to win this journey…
What a way to start off Overwatch 2’s first event. The orchestra gives a ominous vibe, letting us know that this Halloween event is going to be scarier than the previous one from the first game. The violins adds a sense of sadness given what went through the Bride given the loss of her love. Yet it still sounds scary given that she’s quite villainous like Dr. Junkenstein beforehand. It’s quite the perfect song to start off the best mode of Overwatch and this year’s Spooky Video Game Music list. 🎃
