Already crying because I knew Proserpina's sister would be Effie, but the word choice for her introduction??
"Effie!" cries Proserpina, flinging herself into the newcomer's arms.
Couldn't help thinking of this:

Sweet Memphis soul - I stumbled on this song recently and really liked it, not realizing it was just a demo.

The Newcomers - Pin The Tail On The Donkey (1971)
youtube
My brother is a member of The New Comers that was first named the Mannish Boys. He at the time had the headache of being responsible for me. LoL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I wrote my first lyrics: well sort of anyway. It was the beginning of a poem that I was writing about a girl I liked.
I will share with you and let's see if you can remember the song these words belong to.
Each night before you go to bed, whisper a little prayer for me... This is the second verse because the original writers of this song in the first verse are written by Ms. Josephine Bridges and Mr. Homer Banks for the group named The Temprees. This song is Titled This Is Dedicated To The One I Love... I wasn't much trouble as you can see. By the way I got paid $30.00 for that little bit of words. I was rich 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

As a fellow “End of the World” fanfic series lover…in SOTR, could Caesar’s interviews have been part of the rebel plot? The Newcomers need to make a splash, so Caesar does the dirty work and sabotages Panache and the Careers (hating himself for it but knowing it needed to be done to get the audience on the Newcomers’ side). And then he lets the Newcomers shine all the way through (even letting Lou Lou continue to say “murderers” while pretending to try to get her under control).
Thoughts?
Oh absolutely! Caesar right out of the gate highlights that the careers may be strong and capable with weapons, but that’s all they have going for them, so they can easily be outsmarted and out maneuvered. He hates having to bash these kids to build up the others, but hopes it’s for the greater good in the end.
Whereas, the newcomers, are able to talk up their intelligence and survival skills which serves them better in the type of arena they’re headed to that Caesar has insider info on. He makes sure to present the newcomers as the best bet in these games.
And letting Lou Lou go on the murders rant is Caesar just letting her call out the Capitol publicly in the way he wishes he could. Caesar finds the games despicable, but he’s trapped in this role as the games host, so while he has to play his role he does so in a way to promote the rebel agenda. Like Plutarch, Caesar is a rebel working within the system, setting the stage, and waiting for the right time to bring it down.
So the Caesar in Sunrise on the Reaping is a lot like the Caesar in the End of the World Series.

Concerned Diego + Concerned Felipe
Don Alejandro, muttering deliriously: Alfonso… Extra muskets for the men…
Diego, concerned, sitting on the right side on the bed: Alfonso was his brother. They were in the Panama campaign together.
Don Alejandro, gruffly: That's an order, Lieutenant Cordoba! Guard the perimeter!
Victoria, standing to a very worried Felipe's left and leaning over Don Alejandro with a cloth: It's going to be all right, Don Alejandro.
Diego, worriedly: It may not be all right… Doctor Hernandez has a medicine to stop this fever. My father is a tough old fellow, but without that medicine he may not pull through…
*Victoria looks over at Diego with a concerned expression as Don Alejandro continues to thrash about.*

a part of me wonders if Wyatt did it on purpose. Not just to protect Lou Lou (although yes, definitely that)
But because he did the math and he knew the odds.
He knew what Lou Lou's odds would be to a better. He knew what his odds would be to a better.
He knew how much money his family stood to gain or lose by Lou Lou dying in the bloodbath and him surviving it.
So he changed the odds. He made sure that she stood a hope of surviving the bloodbath and that he wouldn't.
He increased the odds of the newcomers by not having to contend with his snoring.
He died in the bloodbath to make sure that his death would upset the numbers.
thinking about how Wyatt's death was different, how it's the first time we've gotten to know a character who dies in the bloodbath, how he knew the odds of Lou Lou's survival and how he chose to die protecting her, cutting his own time short even though he knew he was only giving her a few more hours

seeing a new influx of players coming to warframe because of the addition of Hot People You Can Kiss only for the only way to get to them to be like a bajillion different quests and mission types and systems you gotta figure out is kinda funny tbh. not for the fact they're here because of that (godspeed to those baby tenno!) but because we're basically giving dating sim players guns and sending them out to save the solar system like twenty times over before they can even think about that.
like yeah, you gotta learn about the horrors of war n' exploitation and the struggles that come with discovering one's own identity but also the power of love, understanding, and community first. also you gotta figure out what a mod is and shoot this guy's weakpoint a kajillion times if you want a chance at that last frame part you're missing. sorry.

just imagine all of camp half-blood knowing that percy and annabeth clearly have a thing for each other. not because of their banter that toes the line of flirting. not because of their countless hugs. not because of their refusal to go anywhere without each other. but because they watched annabeth kiss percy on the cheek. and both of them turn away to smile to themselves.

Relieved Diego
*Diego comes into the room and puts his hand on Esther's right shoulder.*
Diego, grateful: Well done, Esther. Thank you.
*She smiles, then leaves the room. Don Alejandro waves, and Diego, relieved, nods before smiling.*
