2. You have 'jogger’s nipple.'

If you work out regularly or are training for a long endurance event like a marathon, experiencing chafing or irritation from clothing such as a sports bra isn’t that uncommon-TBH, it’s almost a rite of passage.

Dweck advises wearing a well-fitting, good-quality sports bra and using an anti-chafing balm such as Body Glide to prevent irritation.

But you don't have to be a runner to get "jogger's nipple"-it can happen in everyday clothes too. “I’ve also had patients wearing poor-fitting lace bras and such who wind up with rashes or sensitivity because it’s rubbing the nipple all day long,” Sassie says.

If that's the case, it might be worth going through your intimates drawer to figure out if it’s really worth keeping some of those pretty, yet too itchy, bras around.

3. You’re experiencing hormonal changes.

One of the first things you want to consider when you first experience breast pain is whether or not you might be pregnant.

“Nipple pain is sometimes the first sign that you are expecting,” says Sassie.

So if you’re not on birth control and are not experiencing any signs of nipple irritation, you wouldn’t be crazy for rushing out to buy a pregnancy test.

Similarly, if you stopped or started a new birth control method or pill, are about to start your period, or are experiencing any major hormonal fluctuations such as perimenopause, you may experience breast and nipple pain as well, says Sassie; which, while a literal pain, is usually nothing to worry about.

4. You’re breastfeeding

A very unfortunate truth: Experiencing pain while breastfeeding is mostly normal, for a number of reasons: your breast pump doesn't fit well, you have clogged milk ducts, your nipples are cracked, or your baby has latching issues. Nipple creams like Medela Tender Care Lanolin can often help new moms get some relief in those cases.

Mastitis can also cause flu-like symptoms, like fever, aches, and fatigue.

But sometimes pain during breastfeeding isn't normal-like with mastitis, (a.k.a. inflammation of breast tissue). According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, symptoms of mastitis include breast tenderness or warmth to the touch, breast swelling, thickening of breast tissue or a breast lump; pain or a burning sensation while breastfeeding or during normal daily activities; and skin redness.

“If you are experiencing pain while breastfeeding and also have a fever or chills or you are generally feeling ill, definitely visit your doctor,” Sassie says.

5. You’re having an allergic reaction.

If you’re experiencing itchiness or irritation after using a new fragrance, soap, or lotion, or even laundry detergent or fabric softener, your newfound nipple pain might be the result of an allergic reaction.

If you have made a recent switch-and identified that as the source of your pain-you might be better off going back to your old favorite, or seeking out a fragrance-free or hypoallergenic version.

6. You started or changed a medication.

“Some medications can have side effects that cause nipple sensitivity or even discharge from the nipple,” says Sassie “These can be herbal supplements or prescriptions, especially psychiatric drugs.” Check with your doctor if you think that's the case.

Additionally, if you have already been diagnosed with breast cancer, treatment such as surgery and radiation can cause breast pain as well, says Dweck.

In the new episodes, the controversial pro-bono case turns out well for Castle and Castle, and Ben's chatterbox girlfriend visits from London.

We have put together 10 things we learned from the fifth and sixth episodes of "Castle and Castle," including the funniest scene and favourite performance of the week.

Here we go:

1. Ben Castle's girlfriend visits from London

We are introduced to Ben's girlfriend from London, Jessica, who is actually quite extra and a chatterbox.

In the first few minutes of meeting her boyfriend's mum, she talks about the weather in Lagos and her parents opposing her trip because of kidnappers in Nigeria. She even talks about her ex-boyfriend.

And as you would expect, Remi isn't fond of her.

2. The lawyers of Castle and Castle take up interesting cases

In episode four and five, there are no cases created for the sole purpose of eliciting laughter. This time, the lawyers of take up interesting cases. We even get to see them in a court.

In episode four, Andrew (Okey Uzoeshi) needs a court injunction to stop his side-chick, Ayanda, from leaving Nigeria for South Africa with their son.

She was his side-chick for a decade, patiently waiting for him to divorce his wife as he had promised. Andrew tells his lawyers - Malik and Nneka - that while he hates his marriage, he loves his wife and kids, and can't divorce them for Ayanda, who he is, however, interested in marrying as a second wife.

After his court injunction is denied, he becomes desperate and kidnaps his son.

 3. The Amina case turns out to be a good for the firm

Considering the attention this particular pro-bono case has received so far, we were hoping to see somewhat of an  exchange in a courtroom. Nevertheless, we are excited that Tega got to win this case. Perhaps, grandpa would give him the respect he deserves next time he strolls in for a visit.

The case and Tega's victory is getting so much local and international attention, and suddenly, Remi, who was opposed to the idea of a pro-bono case, is giving out comments to journalists, expressing her disappointment at the injustice being meted out on 'the poor girl.'

After a local print media publishes a report that describes Nike as Tega's wife, Remi sets up a press conference, which she hopes would help the media 'get their facts right.'

Nike doesn't seem too pleased. She is sad that Remi would take the shine from herself and Tega. And take the shine did she...

 4. Remco won't be an easy client to handle

Not that it's a surprise, but Remco won't be an easy client for Castle and Castle. In the last episode, a former staff sues the airline for wrongful dismissal.

When Remi questions Otumba about it, he isn't bothered. According to him, he needed to make an example out of the former employee.

As more reports of unlawful dismissal come up, Otumba asks Remi to make it disappear, as he doesn't want to go to court or get the press involved.

He also expresses his disappointment at Remi, saying that her father - who we've happily missed these past two weeks - had described her as the best, but there she is, crying at the first sign of a big fight.

5. Is there more between Mike and Remi?

We are introduced to Ben's girlfriend from London, Jessica, who is actually quite extra and a chatterbox.

In the first few minutes of meeting her boyfriend's mum, she talks about the weather in Lagos and her parents opposing her trip because of kidnappers in Nigeria. She even talks about her ex-boyfriend.

And as you would expect, Remi isn't fond of her.

In episode four and five, there are no cases created for the sole purpose of eliciting laughter. This time, the lawyers of take up interesting cases. We even get to see them in a court.

In episode four, Andrew (Okey Uzoeshi) needs a court injunction to stop his side-chick, Ayanda, from leaving Nigeria for South Africa with their son.

She was his side-chick for a decade, patiently waiting for him to divorce his wife as he had promised. Andrew tells his lawyers - Malik and Nneka - that while he hates his marriage, he loves his wife and kids, and can't divorce them for Ayanda, who he is, however, interested in marrying as a second wife.

After his court injunction is denied, he becomes desperate and kidnaps his son.

 3. The Amina case turns out to be a good for the firm

Considering the attention this particular pro-bono case has received so far, we were hoping to see somewhat of an  exchange in a courtroom. Nevertheless, we are excited that Tega got to win this case. Perhaps, grandpa would give him the respect he deserves next time he strolls in for a visit.

The case and Tega's victory is getting so much local and international attention, and suddenly, Remi, who was opposed to the idea of a pro-bono case, is giving out comments to journalists, expressing her disappointment at the injustice being meted out on 'the poor girl.'

After a local print media publishes a report that describes Nike as Tega's wife, Remi sets up a press conference, which she hopes would help the media 'get their facts right.'

Nike doesn't seem too pleased. She is sad that Remi would take the shine from herself and Tega. And take the shine did she...

 4. Remco won't be an easy client to handle

Not that it's a surprise, but Remco won't be an easy client for Castle and Castle. In the last episode, a former staff sues the airline for wrongful dismissal.

When Remi questions Otumba about it, he isn't bothered. According to him, he needed to make an example out of the former employee.

As more reports of unlawful dismissal come up, Otumba asks Remi to make it disappear, as he doesn't want to go to court or get the press involved.

He also expresses his disappointment at Remi, saying that her father - who we've happily missed these past two weeks - had described her as the best, but there she is, crying at the first sign of a big fight.

When news today broke of Demi Lovato's (suspected) overdose, you might have seen the headlines around what happened and wondered: What exactly is Narcan?

"One of her friends had Narcan on hand in case something like this happened," a source told Us Weekly. "Her friends knew this was coming because she’s been using so much again."

Thankfully, the singer is currently "stable," according to People.

It's unclear what drug Demi overdosed on, though TMZ initially reported it was heroin-one of the drugs Narcan can reverse the effects of.

Hold on, what is Narcan and how does it work?

Narcan (a.k.a. naloxone HCl) is a nasal spray used to treat emergency cases of opioid overdose or suspected opioid overdose, according to the drug's website.

It's an FDA-approved nasal form of naloxone, a medicine used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration(SAMHSA).

Naloxone-which can also be given through injection-is an opioid receptor antagonist, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. That means, once it's in the body, it binds to opioid receptors to block or reverse the effects of opioids like heroin, morphine, and oxycodone.

Because Narcan is in a nasal spray form, many emergency responders (who often have to administer the drug) believe it's easier to deliver on the spot, and also eliminates the risk of contaminated needles, according to a 2015 news release announcing Narcan's FDA approval. (The Surgeon General even issued an advisory saying that naloxone was a critical part of combating the opioid crisis.)

Narcan basically works like any other nasal spray: You place the tip of the nozzle in a nostril and press to release the medicine. It should be noted, however, that Narcan is definitely not meant to replace emergency medical attention-even after a patient wakes up from Narcan, they still need to get to an ER, ASAP.

Where is Narcan available?

While emergency responders have started to carry the drug, it's also available over-the-counter in 46 states, and with a prescription in every state, according to the drug's website.

But the drug's not cheap-according to GoodRx, it can cost up to $138 per box (a single box carries two nasal sprays, BTW). Walgreens carries Narcan in all of their pharmacies, and CVS offers the drug over-the-counter in all states except Wyoming, Nebraska, Maine, and Hawaii. CVS also has instructions on its website on how to use the drug.

Let me set the scene: You're in the doctor's office with a blood pressure cuff around your arm.

Uh, hold on a sec-what were those numbers? Were they normal? And WTF does that even mean? Consider this a mini-lesson on what those blood pressure readings mean (so, you know, you don't have to just smile and nod next time).

First things first: What is blood pressure?

Basically, blood pressure measures the strength of your blood moving through your body.

“The heart works to pump oxygen in the blood to all your tissues and organs,” explains Laura Kovell, M.D., a cardiologist at UMass Memorial Medical Center. “Blood pressure is a measure of the force of blood pushing against the blood vessels, or arteries, of the body. If you were able to hold on to one of your arteries, the blood pressure is the force you would feel on your hand.”

But a stronger force doesn't necessarily mean "healthy"-in fact, you want a more gentle flow, says Susan Besser, M.D., a primary care provider at Mercy Personal Physicians in Baltimore, Maryland.

"Imagine your body is a garden, the blood vessel is the garden hose, and your blood is the water. When you water your garden, you turn on the hose and the water comes out in a gentle stream-that's normal pressure," she says.

And, just like a hard, fast flow would basically demolish your plants, it can cause damage to your organs. "In your body, the increased force physically pounds the organs which causes damage" says Besser.

Okay, so what do blood pressure numbers mean?

You’ll hear your doctor read two numbers to you, likely one “over” the other.

The top number refers to systolic blood pressure, or the pressure to deliver blood from the aorta to the rest of your body-the outgoing flow-explains Niece Goldberg, M.D., a cardiologist and medical director of the Tisch Center for Women’s Health at NYU Langone.

The bottom number refers to blood pressure between pushes, when blood vessels and the heart are relaxing and the heart is filling with blood-the return flow.

A blood pressure of 120/80 or lower is considered "normal."

In November 2017, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association actually updated the goal numbers for blood pressure (the first update since 2003), calling out 120/80 or less as normal. They lowered the numbers in hopes that more people would get earlier treatment for hypertension.

So, if you have a reading between 120-129 over 80, then you’re considered to have “elevated” blood pressure, Kovell explains, and 130 or above means you’ve got hypertension (a.k.a, the technical name for high blood pressure).

Why is high blood pressure so bad-and how do you treat it?

There are a few pretty convincing reasons to get that high blood pressure (if you have it) in check: “Over time, high blood pressure can cause damage to the arteries and increase risk for stroke, dementia, heart attacks and other heart disease, and kidney disease,” says Kovell.

Even scarier: Many people don’t know they have high blood pressure. “Hypertension is a chronic disease, and it is also known as the silent killer since it is not always associated with obvious symptoms,” says George Thomas, M.D., who specializes in nephrology and hypertension at the Cleveland Clinic.

If you have just one high reading, it’s not as much of a concern-lifestyle changes like lowering salt intake drinking more water, and being active are quick fixes.

But if you have a very high reading (like 160/110 or above), you might need to go on medications right away, and the same goes for someone with heart disease or diabetes who gets an abnormal reading.

What about low blood pressure...is that a concern?

If you’re young, healthy or extremely active, then likely not, says Goldberg. “Low blood pressure is more about how the patient feels,” she explains. You could feel lightheaded, dizzy or fatigued from it, in which case you probably need to throw back more water. You could also need more salt in your diet or more regular meals.

Thomas also mentions that if you previously had a regular reading, and all of a sudden your blood pressure plummets, you probably need to get checked out ASAP.

Very serious cases of low blood pressure could be a sign of infection, like sepsis, or more intense dehydration. (Again, grab that agua bottle-it’s not just to quench your thirst!)

How often do I need to get my blood pressure checked?

At least once a year, right along with your annual physical-that is, if you have a normal number.

If it’s in that elevated range, then get it checked every three to six months, says Thomas. Those with hypertension will want to get a reading every month until it comes down. Goldberg mentions people with high blood pressure might even consider getting an at-home monitor to keep an eye on it.

Basically, though your blood pressure reading is just two small numbers, it means a lot for your health. So the next time your doctor tells you, pay attention. And if your doctor doesn't tell you your reading and just writes it down-ask for it, dammit!

Don't get me wrong, Wellbutrin (and antidepressants in general) do a lot of good-but it's always smart to be aware of the downsides, too.

What is Wellbutrin?

Wellbutrin, a.k.a. bupropion, is "a mainstay treatment for major depressive disorder," along with seasonal affective disorder (SAD), says Marra Ackerman, M.D., clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at NYU Langone Health.

Unlike other antidepressants, like selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which include Zoloft, Prozac, and Lexapro, Wellbutrin is in its own class. It’s a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI). “It doesn’t actually affect the serotonin system. It affects norepinephrine and dopamine neurotransmitters in the brain,” says Ackerman, explaining that dopamine helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers.

Doctors also prescribe it to help wean smokers off of nicotine, says Ackerman. “The mechanism of how it impacts nicotine cravings is not entirely clear," Ackerman says. "But it does reduce cravings in patients and you can see people who are entirely able to quit."

But, as with most drugs, there are a few Wellbutrin side effects that you should definitely not ignore. 

1. You're feeling more anxious than usual.

 Doctors may choose Wellbutrin for patients whose depression symptoms are more “melancholic” or “sluggish,” says Ackerman, because it can give patients a boost energy-wise. “It can be like an extra cup of coffee,” she says.

Some women, however, may find it actually revs them up too much, increasing anxiety. If that happens, talk with your doctor right away about trying a new drug, advises Ackerman.

2. Your heart is going a mile a minute.

Some people may experience heart palpitations, called tachycardia (more than 100 beats per minute), while on Wellbutrin, says Ackerman. If this happens, tell your doctor ASAP. They'll likely order an electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG), a test that measures the electrical activity of your heartbeat to check for underlying heart issues, says Ackerman.

3. You just can't fall asleep.

 It’s fairly common for Wellbutrin-takers to experience insomnia, a.k.a. difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, but keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't start interfering with your daily activities. “If someone’s really having issues, they may have to switch drugs,” says Ackerman.

4. You're experiencing seizures.

“The most serious side effect we worry about with Wellbutrin is the increased risk in seizures, especially in certain sub-populations like patients with eating disorders, particularly bulimia," says Ackerman.

There's also an increased risk of seizures with Wellbutrin if you have a pre-existing seizure disorder or a brain tumor, she adds. If this happens, let your doctor know right away.

5. Your daily cup makes you extra jittery.

 Because Wellbutrin can amp up some women, caffeine-like your daily latte or diet soda- may make you feel over-the-top jittery, says Ackerman. If you start to notice this symptom after taking Wellbutrin, cut out caffeine while you’re on the medication, or go decaf until you’re off the drug.

6. You've got tons of energy all of a sudden.

This can be a perk of the drug for women who want to feel more energized. But Ackerman warns: “There’s a risk of flipping someone into hypomania [a mild form of hyperactivity] or mania if they have an underlying bipolar disorder." It's for this reason, Ackerman adds, that Wellbutrin wouldn't be used in bipolar patients, unless it was paired with a mood stabilizer.

7. You don't even want to think about food.

 While it’s less common, diminished hunger and weight loss can come with Wellbutrin use, too, says Ackerman. But this side effect, and a dampened sex drive, are actually more common with other antidepressants, specifically SSRIs, adds Ackerman.

You probably heard about how stoked people were when "female Viagra" hit the market in 2015. And then…it kind of went MIA.

Fact: Addyi doesn't work the same way as Viagra.

Women also won't need to see an in-person doctor to get an Addyi prescription, Bloombergreports. They can just go to a website, get put in contact with a doctor, chat over the phone, and potentially end up with a prescription.

So, female Viagra is back, baby! But there are a few things you should know about the drug before you run to the doctor for a prescription.

Who is Addyi for?

If your sex drive has been ebbing and flowing lately, or you're not in the mood after a long day at work, Addyi isn’t for you.

The drug is actually designed to address a condition known as hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), says women’s health expert Jennifer Wider, M.D. While it's pretty common for your sex drive to drop here and there thanks to hormonal changes, medications, and stress, HSDD is much more severe.

Fact: Addyi's promised benefits don't work for every woman.

It's characterized by a chronically low sex drive (think: more than three months), to the point where it causes significant distress to you and your partners, according to the International Society for Sexual Medicine. One in 10 women have HSDD, making it one of the most common female sexual health complaints.

Women who are post-menopausal may benefit the most from Addyi-though that's not to say it won't work for pre-menopausal women, too. “The initial clinical trials were targeting pre-menopausal women, but the studies that included post-menopausal women showed positive results,” Wider says.

How long does it take for Addyi to kick in?

Here's how it works: The drug targets your brain chemistry, specifically neurotransmitters and chemicals in your brain that work to increase your libido.

So, even though Addyi gets a lot of comparisons to “regular” Viagra, it doesn’t actually work the same way-while Viagra causes an immediate physical reaction for dudes (hello, erection), Addyi targets your brain.

Instead of popping a pill and getting a lady-boner 30 to 60 minutes later, Addyi needs to work up to a certain level in your body and adjust your brain chemistry. According to their website, you're supposed to take one pill daily, right before you go to bed. And it can take up to four to six weeks to kick in, Wider says.

There are potential side effects

Women who take the drug are at an increased risk of severe low blood pressure and fainting, according to the Addyi website. Nausea, dizziness, and fatigue are also potential issues. And it's worth noting: You’re not supposed to drink alcohol while you’re on Addyi, as it can increase the risk of those side effects.

Addyi reviews have been mixed

Like most drugs, this doesn’t work for everyone. “Studies show that not everyone responds to it, but it does help a statistically significant portion of the patients with HSDD,” Wider says.

One woman told WomensHealthMag.com that the drug made her wetter than she’d been in a while. "I wasn't a horny mom running around trying to have sex with everyone-it just made me feel more open to doing the deed and more like myself again," she said. "It’s amazing to think I finally had my libido back."

Another woman told Bloomberg that after taking the drug, "I went from maybe having sex zero times, maybe once every three months, to about once or twice a month.”

Still others haven't seen any big changes after taking the drug. As WomensHealthMag.com previously reported, researchers in the Netherlands found the effects of Addyi underwhelming for most women in their study.

Bottom line: If it seems like your libido is on a permanent vacation, you may benefit from Addyi. Check with your doctor to see if "female Viagra" is the right solution for you.

On some level, you already know that genital herpes is super-common and not at all a death sentence (for you or your sex life)-but all of that knowledge tends to go out the window when you see bumps in a place where bumps should not be.

But, just to reiterate: Genital herpes really isn't a life ruiner-an estimated 776,000 people in the U.S. get new infections each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

And 15.7 percent of people in the U.S. ages 14 to 49 years old currently have genital herpes-though, this number is probably much higher as a quarter of people who have herpes don't know it.

Still, it's not something you'll necessarily welcome into your life. Do your best to protect yourself by knowing as much as you can about this (again, super-common, totally NBD) STD.

What is genital herpes?

Genital herpes is caused by two viruses: The herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). Typically, HSV-2 is linked to genital herpes, and HSV-1 is linked to oral herpes, but either one can cause an outbreak of painful blisters in your crotch, according to the CDC.

HSV-2 is more common in women, per the CDC, likely because the infection is more easily transmitted from men to women during penetrative sex.

How do you get genital herpes?

Here's where it gets kind of tricky: Both herpes viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2) can cause genital herpes. For example, if a person with HSV-1 performs oral sex on someone-that person then gets genital HSV-1, per the CDC.

And while it is possible for the opposite to happen-getting oral HSV-2-genital herpes is generally only spread through genital-to-genital contact, according to the CDC.

The good news in all of this? Contrary to popular belief, you can't get herpes from things like public toilet seats, hotel sheets, swimming pools, or towels.

"Although there are tons of conditions that can cause bumps in the genital area, usually when patients ask me about these 'pimples,' the cause is genital herpes," says Nicole Van Groningen, M.D., a primary-care physician and women's health expert at NYU Langone Medical Center.

Small herpes sores are often dismissed as ingrown hairs, clogged sweat glands, or razor burn, which is why it's important to get any bump checked out if it lasts for more than a few days, becomes painful, or spreads.

Open genital sores:

The most common tip-off, and the symptom most likely to cause someone to go to the doctor, is painful sores around the genital area or rectum. These blisters, also referred to as a "breakout" or "flare," may break open and leak fluid, and can last for a week or more, says Van Groningen.

Feeling hot...then cold...then hot again:

A low-grade fever often accompanies the first breakout, per the CDC. Many people assume they have the flu, but if you don't have any other flu-like symptoms (like a sore throat or cough) or you do have any other symptoms of herpes (like bumps or sores), it's wise to get checked out.

Lumps in your neck or armpits.

The first genital herpes outbreak is also associated with swollen lymph nodes, particularly in your neck, as your body tries to fight off the virus, according to the CDC.

No symptoms at all.

Perhaps the scariest symptom of genital herpes is that most sufferers show no symptoms of a herpes infection, or very mild symptoms, according to the CDC. This is known as asymptomatic genital herpes, and yep, it's still contagious. 

How is genital herpes generally diagnosed?

Now's not the time to be shy-your doctor is the only one who can officially diagnose you with genital herpes, says Van Groningen. This can be easily done through a visual exam of the area-many doctors can recognize the blisters on sight-or a swab of a sore that gets sent to a lab for testing.

There is a blood test available, but it's not necessarily the most accurate way to test for genital herpes-it doesn't differentiate between HSV-1 and HSV-2. The blood test also won't be able to tell you how long you've had the virus.

How is genital herpes treated?

There is no cure for herpes-genital or oral-but there are ways to manage it. It's important to get treatment as soon as possible so you can prevent future outbreaks and reduce your risk of spreading the disease to others, says Van Groningen. Left untreated, genital herpes can damage your fertility, and in rare cases, spread to other parts of your body, like your eyes.

"I’m upfront with potential partners about my status. It hasn’t been much of a deal-breaker."

If you have the virus, know the first outbreak is usually the worst, says Van Groningen. "Since herpes is caused by a virus, your doctor can prescribe antiviral medication to take at the first sign of the outbreak," she says. The most commonly prescribed medications for herpes are Valtrex, Zovirax, and Famvir.

However, if you're having several outbreaks each year-usually six or more-you can try chronic antiviral suppressive therapy, which can be a game changer, she says. This requires you to take a daily pill. "I've had patients who never have outbreaks anymore after starting chronic suppressive therapy," she says. These pills can also lessen the chance of spreading the virus to others (though they won't get rid of it entirely).

Can you ever prevent herpes?

Using a condom during all types of sex is the best way to reduce your risk of getting genital herpes. However, it's not a guarantee, as it is possible to get infected when other parts of your body come into contact with infected bodily fluids, the CDC says.

And also, because it bears repeating, while it's still possible to transmit herpes without any symptoms, having sex with someone in an active outbreak makes transmission more likely.

While you may not be able to 100 percent prevent getting genital herpes, you can do your best to prevent spreading it to others-and that starts with being honest about your status. Not only will that help strengthen your relationships, it can protect you legally as well.

I thought I was safe-I'd had an STD screen right after I slept with him and it was negative for everything-but I scheduled one just to be safe. To my surprise, I tested positive for herpes.
