Holland vs Netherlands
These terms are often used interchangeably, but they refer to different areas.
Holland refers specifically to two provinces: North Holland and South Holland. Historically, these provinces were the most powerful and economically developed in the Netherlands, playing a crucial role during the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century. This is why many people mistakenly use Holland to refer to the entire country, as it was the region most associated with Dutch global influence at the time.
The Netherlands, on the other hand, is the official name of the entire country. It consists of 12 provinces, with Holland being just two of them.

Amsterdam, Netherlands: Amsterdam is the capital and most populated city of the Netherlands. Located in the Dutch province of North Holland, Amsterdam is colloquially referred to as the "Venice of the North", for its large number of canals, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amsterdam was founded at the mouth of the Amstel River, which was dammed to control flooding. Originally a small fishing village in the 12th century, Amsterdam became a major world port during the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century, when the Netherlands was an economic powerhouse. Wikipedia

Canals of Amsterdam, Netherlands: Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, has more than 100 kilometers of grachten (canals), about 90 islands & 1,500 bridges. The three main canals (Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht), dug in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, form concentric belts around the city, known as the Grachtengordel. Alongside the main canals are 1550 monumental buildings. The 17th-century canal ring area, including the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht and Jordaan, were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, contributing to Amsterdam's fame as the "Venice of the North".
