I just realized the most tragic thing - that I cannot gush about 31st October being Dziady / Forefathers' Eve because it's a Polish thing and none of my mutuals know what it is and no really good translation of the dramatic works exists to have them read it :(((
It's like a traditional Polish Halloween and nowadays it's mainly known from Adam Mickiewicz's (he's to Poland what Shakespeare is to England) 4-part drama centered around it. It follows a tortured poet (my blorbo, I love him) during the time Poland was partitioned and erased from the maps, its people oppressed but always fighting back. It is one of the most important and culturally significant Polish works ever created. And it's got, like so many themes, so many themes you guys. It's one of my favorite works ever one of my all-time dreams is to play Konrad, a protag from part 3.

At some point soon ish I'll try to gather all my knives up for another group pic. It's been a while since I've taken one. I have so many fucking knives

Ozai in the Homestead Community reminds me of the Through Heaven's Eyes scene from The Prince of Egypt where the desert tribe takes in Moses and show him how to live again. I can really see Ozai and Niwa wedding like Moses and Tzipporah with the big bond fire in the background and entire community celebrating ❤️

I hope you know that I have thought of this EXACT SONG for this story!!!
The lyrics fit the situation SO well, from questioning whether any of the mountain's rocks are more important than the others, or the tapestry not seeing it's place in the whole design, the difference between a king and a shepherd to a lost sheep, and the man who loses everything could actually be facing a brighter future, to talking about life being changed and you must keep going on like... AUGH
and YES to Ozai and Niwa having a celebratory community wedding that's just lively and intimate and fun ;A;
#I've been debating on the community finding out he's Ozai and being like extra hard on him until eventually he's just#part of the community#or Ozai takes on that fake name and his mindset changes so so so much that he feels like a different person#and it's a way to distance himself from his past#but it just ends up being easy for him to leave all of that behind instead of truly healing from it#until Zuko and Azula come knocking and it's revealed that 'Chen' is former Fire Lord Ozai#and while Ozai HAS changed he's also been able to lay low and be comfy and lie to a whole community who took him in#even though he is content to be Chen for the rest of his life he still hurt people and he needs to come clean about his identity#for himself and for his older kids so he can have transparency with his new family#I am leaning towards Niwa possibly knowing that 'Chen' is of Fire Nation heritage but there's plenty of them in the Earth Kingdom
