People need to understand that is not ‘serious actor’ Ryan Gosling, that is ‘Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer’ Ryan Gosling and he is loving every minute of it 😂

A poster I did last year, when I suddenly felt a rush of inspiration to do something on Darlene Gillespie. I wound up watching An Evening with Darlene, a showstopping Fun with Music Day skit from the second season, on random and I wondered if I can do an old-timey poster. Plus, I haven't done much on the uber-talented Darlene - why not make something worth her Mouseketeer icon status?
The part I had the most fun making was the sort-of centerpiece of Darlene inside a circle where the text around her shone. I really liked that shadow effect on the "Darlene" in script, and I hope to revisit that. Also, this was a masterclass in "making the best out of rather low-quality screenshots" that I typically do, just to have some photographs to promote the "show" that this "promotes". Also note that she did have various impressions that were showcased throughout the piece
(side note: imagine if she went through variety shows in the 60s onward if there was any opportunity for her... would have loved to see that) Another good piece done, and there was a recent edit through correcting Red Skelton's surname. I really thought it was "Skeleton" when I originally posted this in the MMC Fans FB page. I'm not that great with names :(

JUDY NUGENT (1940-Died October 26th 2023,at 83).
Nugent was a child actor, first appearing on screen at age six in It Had to Be You (1947), where she and her sister Carol portrayed the same character at different ages. A few bit parts in films were followed by her landing a regular role in television's first family sitcom, The Ruggles (1949–1952). Her film career then took off with supporting parts in several mid-fifties dramas, including Magnificent Obsession (1954), one of the Kettle kids in Ma and Pa Kettle Back on the Farm (1954) and There's Always Tomorrow (1956) for Universal-International.
Two of her roles were as Jet Maypen for the Walt Disney Presents: Annette serial on The Mickey Mouse Club and as little Ann Carson, the little blind girl who flew around the world with Superman, on the Adventurers of Superman. As she reached adulthood, her parts were mainly guest appearances on television shows, including the ABC/Warner Brothers Television series 77 Sunset Strip and Sugarfoot, as well as Willie Carson in the Rawhide episode Incident of the Night Horse.
Nugent appeared in five episodes of The Tall Man as June McBean with thought made to spin The McBeans off into a series, however she gave up acting after marrying in 1961. She did cameos for two independent film productions during the seventies.

Yeah, my brother and I spent a lot of time watching these videos back in the day. Also one of my music teachers would leave these videos for subs to show us when she was gone even though we were freaking teenagers.
Here comes a rant! Obviously the music videos/musical numbers were preexisting footage, but I always assumed the framing material/wraparound segments were made for these videos. But no, it's all recycled. Professor Owl's class comes from two old shorts, Professor von Drake's lectures come from a different old short, and the other guest lectures come from old T.V. shows and maybe some other stuff. Looking at as an adult, it's obvious that the animation is in an old style and also badly synched to the audio (and also also the theme music sounds like a bargain bin keyboard demo).
Sorry, I have a lot of happy cartoon memories, but then there's stuff like this that was already kind of mediocre in the eyes of a child and now just seems like V.H.S. shovelware.
