Who is Paul Tilsdale? And will he improve us in an area that we’ve been incompetent in for quite some time.
Celtic are reportedly hiring football ‘doctor’ Paul Tilsdale as they bid to revamp the clubs football operations. The 51 year old has recently been working as a football consultant, but has amassed a wealth of experience in the game as both a player and manager. As a player he played for the likes of Southampton, and as a manager he coached Exeter, MK Dons, Bristol Rovers and Stevenage. He’s…

Football stadiums for the reverse unpopular opinions!
A stadium having a good atmosphere is so much more important than it looking modern and having the latest technology. Any club with money can build a modern stadium but you cannot buy fans and atmosphere - just look at MK Dons
Nothing will ever top a packed out football stadium on a champions league night; everyone is there for the same reason, the same cause. And I truly don't think you get that anywhere else; even at concerts the atmosphere is nowhere near what some stadiums achieve with football. To sound gross and cheesy, its community and history and passion; stadiums and the people in them are what make football. And I think some club owners would do well to remember that
#i also think all modern stadiums are ugly af but thats being a hater ghdkjgjdfk#Celtic park on a champions league night is incredible#I mean fuck me Celtic park on any night is incredible#Just stadiums with atmosphere and passionate fans are beautiful#i could actually probably write a love letter to football lmao#thank u <3#asks#racingliners

A screening list for an English club to buy
It's long been a dream of mine to buy a football ⚽ club in England and bring it up the divisions and try to turn it into a big club worth billions.*
What would be an ideal club to buy:
League Two (or possibly League One). League Two is the 4th division, league One is...the third division. In American terms, very roughly speaking, League One is AA minor league baseball, and League Two is A.
Close to an international airport with a direct flight. In practice from Houston this means greater London, maybe greater Manchester/Liverpool (there's a direct singapore air flight). On the other hand, maybe you move there and go 24/7.
Big stadium without urgent need for renovations where fans attend even in lean times. The gate is a big piece of the economic puzzle in lower divisions. The better the attendance in lean years means that you can (theoretically) lever up more with debt because the downside is lower (theoretically)
Higher GDP in surrounding area the better. More sporting success means more economic success. Also generally less xenophobia for when you buy the club and for the inevitable times when your team doesn't live up to expectations.
League Two (via Wikipedia)
League One:
Clubs on this list (12 in League One, 6 in League Two) roughly within an hour of Manchester airport without traffic: Bradford City, Tranmere Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan, Barnsley, Port Vale,
Within an hour of Heathrow: Swindon Town, MK Dons, Charlton Athletic, Reading, Portsmouth, Oxford United.
Top of League One and League Two (by stadium capacity) are both clubs who would probably be pretty gunshy, for some different reasons. Derby County went busto, MK Dons got moved in controversial circumstances.
Even knowing how football mad the general area is, it's somewhat surprising how many clubs are within an hour of the Manchester airport.
You notice Wrexham in the bottom left corner, as it's a short drive from the airport. A few actors managed to buy the club in a particularly brilliant manner by cross-promoting all their investments using a documentary, all the while acting as if they're losing money.
[I find the documentary really annoying. Lots of dumb jokes, overacted "reality scenes," not enough football, business or Wales. I do enjoy the Wales bits though.]
They did manage to go from the 5th division to the 4th division, however, which is a big accomplishment. They got the club apparently for free, by simply promising to invest in the club.
There's a few clubs in London if you're willing to look at the 5th division, but the stadiums are small. For example, of that map, the largest stadium is Barnet at 6400. Since it's London, presumably expanding or building a new stadium when you need to is much more expensive.
I also think that 5th division complicates an obvious blueprint: for me, it would be recruit from Argentina relatively young and create a culture where players aren't homesick and can perform. Beyond that, Chelsea also showed us that buying lots of players cheap when they're young and loaning them out until you sell or play them is a profitable strategy.
_* Almost 20 years ago I spent hours figuring out Peter Thiel's email when he was at the height of his success as a macro trader to send him an extremely half-baked suggestion of buying a club in administration. If you assume he didn't respond, that is the safest of calls.
_** Technically the top level (the Premier League) is no longer a member of the EFL.

IceMan Investments Update – Mid Season 2023/24
New Year greetings from your favourite anti-fascist betting blog.
We start 2024 with ongoing crises and misery in Ukraine and Gaza. We also confront the electoral rise of the far right across Europe (with the welcome exception of their setback in Poland).
We have the almost unbelievable possibility that Trump gets re-elected in the States (more on that later). The only bright spot on the horizon is the almost certain defeat of this mean and corrupt Tory government.
As usual IceMan is always punting for a purpose and will donate some of the inevitable profit to Anti-Fascist organisation Hope not Hate.
Ok on with the Football before we get too depressed. As usual we have some Teams who already look home and dry, some still very much in the mix, a couple heading to the loss column and an absolute stinker. Here goes....
Premiership, Arsenal without Man City 9/4 now 16/5 (ShitePrice)
If you had suggested to me at the start of the season that Arsenal will end the Christmas break a place behind Man City, I would have been well happy, however I would not have expected City to be third and Arsenal fourth. The improvement of leaders Liverpool is not a complete shock, it is the fact Aston Villa sit third that is really surprising. At this stage, this bet looks like a loser. There is a good chance Villa may fall back in the second half of the season, it is making up a 5-point deficit to Liverpool that is problematic. My only hope is that Arsenal can add some reinforcements including a top striker in January and then massively improve, even at that Liverpool still need to wobble. It ain’t over yet, but not optimistic.
Championship Leicester City Promotion 13/8 now 1/66 (IcePrice)
Gary Lineker is a prominent supporter of this club; I say that cos just mentioning his name upsets so many Daily Mail/Torygraph Gammons. Given that they were relegated last season and took a gamble on appointing Enzo Maresca, I was not entirely sure that Leicester represented good value at 13/8. That price now looks a steal. Delighted with this position, top of the table and even more importantly 13 points clear of third place, looking set for automatic promotion. I will be collecting on this.
League one – Bolton promotion 11/4 now 8/13 (IcePrice)
This is a very competitive division. Bolton are second with a game in hand and only two points behind Portsmouth. Looking good for automatic promotion. They are, however, only 2 points clear of third placed Peterborough, a team I seriously considered backing. Bolton can hopefully hold on to an automatic promotion spot, failing that, they are nailed on for a play-off slot. Looks an excellent chance of a pickup.
League Two Stockport 5/4 now 1/8 (IcePrice) and MK Dons 11/4 now 6/1 (ShitePrice) both for promotion
Stockport aka ‘The Hatters ‘due to the town’s historical link to the Hat trade, it actually has a Hat Museum. are on top of the league so automatic promotion looks on. They have a six-point margin, however 4th placed Barrow do have a game in hand, so this is closer than the market suggests. Stockport have dropped a few points recently, albeit against some good sides, which has allowed some of the chasing teams to close the gap. MK Dons were the second choice, and I was backing them as more of a play-off team. They currently sit one place outside a play-off position, though they have games in hand, so very much in the mix. Expect to collect from Stockport. MK Dons should make play offs and we can take it from there.
National League Chesterfield 6/4 now 1/66 (IcePrice) and Gateshead 25/1 now 5/1 (IcePrice) Promotion
Chesterfield aka ‘The Spireites ‘(due to a crooked town church spire) was a bit of a shortie , however I would have to been a total contrarian to overlook their chances. Only one automatic promotion place in this league, Chesterfield look good for it as 7 points clear with games in hand. Gateshead were selected as they represented excellent value to be competitive for a play-off place. They have not let us down and currently occupy a play-off slot. Expect to collect on Chesterfield and optimistic Gateshead can make the play offs.
Scottish Premiership - Aberdeen without Celtic/Rangers 9/5 now 10/1 (ShitePrice)
Very disappointed with The Sheep and am moving this into the loss column. They have been shockingly inconsistent and are in 9th place, 13 points adrift of 3rd. They do however have 3 games in hand, it is difficult to imagine them making up that much ground, main rivals Hearts are having a steady season, so can’t see them imploding. Aberdeen may also lose some of their best talent in the January transfer window.
In better SPL news, Celtic are top and have beaten Rangers for the second time this season.
Scottish Championship - Dundee United 11/8 to win the league now 4/7 (IcePrice)
I wish I could be as confident as the markets on this one, I had expected ‘The Terrors’ to be 5 points clear at this stage, currently they sit in second, 3 points behind the leaders Raith. Importantly they do have a game in hand and a superior goal difference. A downside is that they lost a recent head-to-head match with Raith, on the upside they do have a stronger squad which could be reinforced in January. I would expect this to prove a critical advantage in the second half of the season. Optimistic of collecting on this.
Scottish League One Hamilton Academicals 5/2 to win the league now 7/2
This league looked like a matchup between perennial under achievers Falkirk and recently relegated Hamilton Academicals, so called as they were established by students from Hamilton Academy. . Having previously had my wallet burned by Falkirk, I considered Hamilton to represent better value. Up until recent weeks this has been the case, as it was hard to separate these sides. However, Hamilton have faltered a bit of Late and have gifted Falkirk what appears an unassailable advantage. This looks destined for the loss column; however, you can never underestimate the ability of Falkirk to grab defeat from the jaws of victory.
Scottish League Two - Stenhousemuir to win 6/1 each way now 8/15 (IcePrice)
In contrast to my other Scottish selections ‘Stenny ‘are bang on the money. They are in tremendous form and find themselves 11 points clear in the top spot. A caveat is that other teams have played less games, but a bird in the hand and all that. Stenny looks a cert for top 3 and I fancy them to push on and win this league. Going to collect something, for sure.
Bundesliga - Union Berlin top 4 11/4 now 1500/1 (ShitePrice)
Every season there is a pick that turns out to be an absolute shocker. This year it is Union Berlin, a surprise package last year, I fancied them to kick on this season as many of their potential rivals appeared weakened by selling top players. This season Union have been rubbish, they are in 15th place, 21 points shy of top 4. Enough.
Politics Lab/Lib Coalition 7/1
No change in this position, the current cash out exactly matches my stake. I am cashing it out as I now don’t expect a formal coalition even if Lab come up a bit shy of an overall majority.
***New***
Hungary -Euro2024 150/1 E/W now 100/1 (IcePrice)
I love to through a dart at an underrated long shot in tournament football. Politically Hungary being successful would be a nightmare. Far right leader Orban is a massive football fan and would milk any triumph. On the other hand, 150/1 is a big price as many teams of equivalent capability are trading below 50/1. Hungary won a not overly challenging qualifying group and have a young squad led by Liverpool player Dominik Szoboszlai.
Democrats to win Presidency
I have taken a safety approach of backing Democrats rather than Biden specifically who is available at 9/4. Biden is almost certain to be the candidate but doubts around his age and his current unpopularity mean he could stand aside. TBH, I would welcome that happening, and his being replaced by Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmer. The real worry about this bet is that it is an Even money shot, the Democrats should be 1/20 on running against Trump the narcissistic sociopath, Trump is actually a marginal favourite in most books. Trump is campaigning as a full on white Christian nationalist and being upfront about his fascistic tendencies. This is a bet where the financial winnings are irrelevant compared to the real-world geopolitical consequences.
The MAGA cult and GOP enablers seem all in for syphilitic, Adderall addicted whack job. Things are getting desperate when you start to hope that the recent Trump smells revelations on the internet are true and might dent some of his popularity. The MAGA cult will have no problem voting for an authoritarian bigot, but do they want a President who literally shits his adult nappy and stinks the place out.
City of Troy - 2000 Guineas 13/5 now Evs (IcePrice)
I can’t help myself; I do love an ante post bet on the Guineas. I got on to City of Troy prior to his impressive Dewhurst win. As I have found to my cost, brilliant two-year-old form does not always translate to winning classics at three. On the plus side his trainer Aidan O’Brien seems genuinely enthused and he knows a good horse when he sees one.
Late Night Pass -Grand National 35/1
Still my favourite sporting event. I normally get involved in February when the weights are released, however this year I am getting in early as I was very taken by the prospects of Late Night Pass who has had two good outings this season. This has not gone unnoticed in the market, though he can still be backed at a generous 33/1.
Matteo Berrettini - Wimbledon 28/1 E/W
This is a very tentative and small stakes dip into the Tennis markets. Berrettini is a great grass court player as evidenced by the fact he was a finalist at Wimbledon in 2021. He has recently been injury plagued which is obviously reflected in this price. So, hoping he can reach Wimbledon fully fit and in the form that enabled him to hit the World no6 ranking.
That’s it .

New Details Emerge In Wrexham Player Pursuit
Harrogate Set Price Tag Amid Wrexham Interest
Harrogate Town have set a price tag of £500,000 for their talisman striker Luke Armstrong, according to sources at Football League World. Fellow League Two clubs Wrexham and MK Dons have seen their bids for the striker rejected recently, and the Sulphurites will now demand £500,000 for Luke Armstrong. Wrexham’s interest is no secret, particularly since Paul Mullin’s long-term injury picked up in…

Lee Johnson's bold transfer move: Will Fish and CJ Egan-Riley set to join Hibs as Johnson trims fat from squad
Lee Johnson's bold transfer move: Will Fish and CJ Egan-Riley set to join Hibs as Johnson trims fat from squad Lee Johnson's Bold Transfer Move: Will Fish and CJ Egan-Riley Set to Join Hibs as Johnson Trims Fat from Squad Hibernian football club fans are in for a treat as a new lease of life is set to come to the club with the acquisition of Will Fish and CJ Egan-Riley. The duo is set to join the club in a bid by Lee Johnson, the team's manager, to end a run of poor results. Lee Johnson's Transfer Plan Lee Johnson, the Hibs boss, is preparing for life without Erin Maguire following confirmation of the defender's departure. Johnson is looking to rebuild and strengthen the team by bringing in new faces, namely Fish and Egan-Riley. Fish, a talented defender from Manchester United's academy, is highly rated by his former manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, and praised for his ability to read the game. Egan-Riley, on the other hand, is a left-back who played a key role in the development of Manchester City's EDS squad before moving to MK Dons. The two players are seen as Johnson's bold moves to help the club bounce back. Hibs have endured a difficult run of form, including their recent loss to Livingston, as they continue to look for a win. Fans are excited to see how the new additions will impact the team. Trimming the Squad While the arrival of Fish and Egan-Riley is great news for Hibs, Johnson is also looking to trim the current squad. He has previously expressed his willingness to let go of underperforming players and bring in fresh faces. One such player who could be on his way is midfielder Stevie Mallan. The Scottish international joined the club from Barnsley in 2019 but has fallen out of favour with the manager. Reports suggest that the player could move to Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor. Another player on the chopping block is goalkeeper Dillon Barnes. The 25-year-old joined the club on loan from Queens Park Rangers in January but has failed to impress Johnson. The Hibs boss is reportedly looking for a new goalkeeper to provide cover for number one goalkeeper Ofir Marciano. Summary Lee Johnson's bold move to bring in Will Fish and CJ Egan-Riley to Hibs is set to invigorate the team and give them a boost in their quest for better results. After a run of poor performances, Johnson is also looking to trim the squad as he seeks to bring in new faces. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the new signings will fit into the team and how the squad will perform in the next few matches. #LeeJohnson #HibsFC #WillFish #CJEganRiley #FootballTransfer #SPORT Read the full article

FOM BLOG: FIVE POTENTIAL GOALKEEPER SIGNINGS FOR GILLINGHAM
With Glenn Morris And Jake Turner under contract for next season, there will be some supporters who will understandably asking the question as to why do Gillingham need to sign another goalkeeper when we have got two very good goalkeepers at the football club already, And this is a very reasonable question to ask as well.
But despite the fact that Gillingham have already got Glenn Morris and Jake Turner contracted at the football club for next season, Gillingham have already been linked with a move for Reading Goalkeeper Luke Southwood, And Luke Southwood has made fifty one appearances for Cheltenham Town on loan from Reading this season, and Neil Harris has spoken about further strengthening Gillingham’s Goalkeeper Options For The 2023 / 2024 Season.
And speaking of The 2023 / 2024 Season, squad rules will change next season, because League One And League Two Clubs can only have twenty two players in there entire squad over the age of twenty one years old, however, goalkeepers do not count towards the age restriction limit, So Glenn Morris and Jake Turner do not count towards this age restriction which is only reserved for out-field players.
But Gillingham now have got the finances and resources available to them to have three senior first team goalkeepers contracted at the football club, and permanently contracted at the football club is the crucial aspect here, because we saw in The 2021 / 2022 Season when Chelsea recalled Jamie Cumming from his loan spell at Gillingham only to send him back out on loan to MK Dons, And Gillingham signed Pontus Dahlberg on loan because Jamie Cumming had been recalled from his season long loan at Gillingham, And if Neil Harris is looking to sign another goalkeeper to add further reinforcements, or to provide additional cover and competition, then the goalkeeper Neil Harris will be looking to sign will be someone on a permanent contract, and not a loan signing.
Below, Are five goalkeepers who I think Gillingham could sign to add additional depth to the goalkeeping position……
ONE: ADAM PRZYBEK (AGE: 23) - Adam Przybek was released by Stevenage at the end of this season having only played two matches, all be it, one of those games was on the final day of the season where Adam Przybek kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 away win against Barrow, Adam Przybek has been capped by Wales at U21 Level and would provide additional depth to Gillingham’s Goalkeeping Options.
TWO: LUKE MCGEE (AGE: 27) - Luke McGee Was Forest Green Rovers First Choice Goalkeeper In The 2021 / 2022 Season, And Forest Green Rovers secured promotion into League One, However, this season has seen Luke McGee make twenty five appearances, with the last of those appearances being back in January, Both Goalkeepers I have mentioned so far have been in squads that have got promoted from League Two into League One, and that experience of gaining promotion could be something Neil Harris looks at when looking to sign another goalkeeper.
THREE: SHAUN MACDONALD (AGE: 26) - Shaun MacDonald has made all four appearances for Cheltenham Town In The Football League Trophy This Season, However, Shaun MacDonald has made the most appearances of his footballing career at Torquay United In The National League, But Shaun MacDonald may well be looking to sign for A Football League Club in the summer, rather then drop back into The National League again.
FOUR: SAM SARGEANT (AGE: 25) - Sam Sargeant made four appearances for Leyton Orient In The 2022 / 2023 Season, three of those appearances were in The Football League Trophy, And Sam Sargeant found game-time limited at Leyton Orient with Lawrence Vigouroux performing brilliantly in goal for Leyton Orient, And just like my earlier suggestions of Adam Przybek and Luke McGee, Sam Sargeant has been involved in a squad that has achieved promotion from League Two into League One, And Leyton Orient were promoted as League Two Champions, This suggestion is also realistic with the geographical locations of Leyton Orient and Gillingham, And I am sure that Sam Sargeant will want to sign for A Football League Club this summer as well.
FIVE: BRIAN SCHWAKE (AGE: 21) - One of the talking points Head Of Recruitment And Gillingham Legend Andy Hessenthaler mentioned regarding Gillingham’s recruitment and scouting this summer, was the fact that Gillingham have been scouting players in Scotland And The Republic Of Ireland, and one goalkeeper who has been playing regular first team football in The Scottish Championship who might have a bit of potential is Brian Schwake, The American Goalkeeper has spent this season on loan at Greenock Morton and could be a player that Gillingham have kept there eye on, Gillingham have already been linked to one player playing in Scotland this summer in Ayr United Striker Dipo Akinyemi, and maybe Gillingham have also been looking at Goalkeeper Brian Schwake as well, Andy Hessenthaler found a hidden gem of a goalkeeper in Paulo Gazzaniga during his second spell as Gillingham Manager, and perhaps Gillingham are looking to sign a younger goalkeeper with a bit of potential.
So these are my five suggestions for potential goalkeeping signings who Gillingham could sign this summer, Other honourable mentions were Jonathan Mitchell released by Doncaster Rovers and Ben Killip who has rejected a new contract at Hartlepool United, but both goalkeepers were first choice goalkeepers for Doncaster Rovers and Hartlepool United respectively this season, and I just thought that both goalkeepers would be unrealistic options for Gillingham, purely to sign someone who will add additional squad depth to our goalkeeping options for The 2023 / 2024 Season, Because if Gillingham are looking to sign a goalkeeper to add additional depth to our goalkeeping options, then whoever Gillingham sign has to be a player who understands and is willing to be a back up option.
Three senior goalkeepers contracted at the football club is something that Gillingham have not had for some-time, And the last time Gillingham had three senior goalkeepers at the football club was back in The 2017 / 2018 Season with Tomas Holy, Stuart Nelson and Steve Arnold all at the football club, and wages for a third goalkeeper would quite often go towards strengthening other positions on the pitch, especially when Gillingham were operating with limited resources, but that is not the case now, Gillingham can afford to sign a third goalkeeper without affecting the quality and ability of our first team out-field players, and Neil Harris has spoken about wanting to strengthen the goalkeeping department this summer, and I do think we will sign another goalkeeper to make sure that there is additional cover and competition along with Glenn Morris and Jake Turner at the football club.
And with XI Pre-Season Friendlies organised against Lordswood, Chatham Town, Sheppey United and Deal Town, Gillingham can use these matches to look at goalkeepers on trial and take our time looking at different goalkeepers before deciding on which goalkeeper to sign to add additional reinforcements to our goalkeeping options, and the closer we get to the season starting, players start to look at options that were not grabbing there interest in June or early July, and considering that a additional goalkeeper isn’t the highest priority on our list, Gillingham can take there time before looking to sign another goalkeeper, but I do believe we will see another goalkeeper signed before the season starts again in August.

League 1 Countries
Using MapChart, I made a map which looks at the idea of each League 1 football club being a nation. The capitals would be their respective home stadiums. The higher the team is in the table as of 19th April 2023, the higher precedent it gets for expansion. Expansion begins from the area their stadium is located.
There will be versions of this for other English leagues.
Featuring, in order of northern-most point:
Shrimps - Morecambe (Capital: Mazuma Stadium)
Fishermen - Fleetwood Town (Capital: Highbury Stadium)
Tykes - Barnsley (Capital: Oakwell)
Trotters - Bolton Wanderers (Capital: Bolton Wanderers Stadium)
Owd Reds - Accrington Stanley (Capital: Crown Ground)
Imps - Lincoln City (Capital: Sincil Bank)

sorry i cant understand that well and i absoLUTELY agree about the stadium i would rather call it the big tin can like everyone else 😭
in terms of what i said about the sun i was talking about general controversy and how theyre affiliated with liverpool-not saying it proves anything, sorry my english isnt that good when i read things💔
i can’t tell if you were talking about me doing the cherry picking because if it seemed like that i am so sorry😭since you are scouse if it seemed im being biased i am also very sorry
going back on what i said i know it is impossible to compare (if that is what conflate means😥) to compare their political issues-real madrid is like pretty much one of the most controversial clubs aside from barca, or something like mk dons(i had to think about clubs that had strong ties with their fanbase, mk dons came to mind😭💀)
i also massively agree with the working class ethic liverpool has and how it contributes to the club, trent’s statements dont mean shit now clearly, although i hate madrid being called a glory club-as i said, players often come for more success. telling someone you wouldn’t rather be anywhere else than liverpool, your boyhood club then basically admitting to transfer rumors to another massive club and openly provoking them is, like you said, very misleading
coming from the part of me that loves madrid, going back to politics, i promise you hardly any of us support the past things the club has done, i dont like having our stadium being named after a subhuman fascist either. i promise we are not all like that, especially not now, since football is getting much more social and inclusive. again, if trent comes to madrid, hopefully he still openly exudes the love for his former club, like cr7, beckham, henry, zizou etc do/did.❤️
trents also my favorite player!! hes the reason i play right back, hes wonderful, i would be ecstatic too if he came to our club, but the other half of me supports the argument of this entire post. hopefully he realizes he hasnt quite made sense of his love for liverpool when making so much fuss about a transfer
really don’t think a lot of people understand why lfc fans are so devastated by the thought of trent leaving
it’s not just because he’s an academy product, and him leaving on a free for more money and glory would mean that all the shit he’s spent his whole career spouting about how much he loves the club & the fans & the city and how much he values the endless support he’s always gotten from the fans will have all been bullshit.
it’s also that, if he goes to Madrid, it’ll show that he genuinely never gave a shit about the club’s values, or at least thinks so little of the club and its fans that he’s willing to undermine its morals as a club for the people, by the people, about the people, a club that has been a source of pride for a long-oppressed and long-exploited city & community in order to move to a club literally built on oppression and totalitarianism and facism, and which has been a tool of propaganda for the elite for decades.
if he throws his legacy away by leaving on a free, thus fucking the club itself over as well, for more money and more glory and more trophies, that’s his decision to make, but he can say goodbye to any lfc fan with a basic grasp on the values of the club honoring him as a legend in the slightest, and he can say goodbye to any goodwill the city has for him.
it’s really hard to say all this, because trent’s been my favorite player for years, but i just don’t understand how anyone could still see him in the same light if he goes running the second Madrid calls him.

Dele Alli will be granted a move from Tottenham during January transfer window
Spurs would ideally want full market value for Alli’s departure but a six-month loan would be considered
Dele Alli will be granted a move from Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window out of respect for his five years’ service to the club.
The Spurs midfielder, 24, has not started a Premier League game since the opening weekend of the season and was an unused substitute last Thursday in the Europa League win over Royal Antwerp.
With his team challenging at the top of the table, it is understood that Jose Mourinho wants to keep Harry Winks, who has only started Europa League games for two months, for the second half of the season but Alli will be allowed to leave for the right deal.
Spurs would ideally want full market value for Alli’s departure but a six-month loan would be considered, potentially maintaining or increasing his asking price if he is playing regularly.
It would make him one of the most interesting moves when the transfer market opens in three weeks’ time.
Alli is still a huge asset from breaking into the first team at Spurs and becoming one of the stars of England’s runs to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018. His numbers in training have not dropped, according to sources at Spurs, but he has not been able to break into Mourinho’s team this season.
Allowing him to leave reflects his rise at Spurs after arriving from MK Dons in League One and immediately making an impact in the top flight, then for England.
He is unlikely to have a shortage of interested clubs in taking him and adding to their firepower for the second half of the season, having reached double figures for goals in his first three seasons in the Premier League.
In the summer there was interest from Paris St Germain over a season-long loan deal but no fee was agreed, with the French club willing to pay around £3million.
Alli has scored two goals in his eight appearances this season but was overlooked by Mourinho when he made five changes in midweek. Winks is another players who has not played regular football but Mourinho wants cover in his central-midfield position for the rest of the campaign.
TLDR: Dele is training fine it’s legit just José being stupid and shoving him out of the door.
#dele#spurs#this is so heartbreaking#and dele deserves so much better#fuck Jose man#we're losing a crap ton of money if we sell him now

An All-Time Irish Liverpool XI via /r/LiverpoolFC
An All-Time Irish Liverpool XI
Howya lads. I'm a mod over at r/coybig (the subreddit for the Republic of Ireland national team) and during the quarantine, me and my Liverpool-mad Da have been chatting loads about football. One afternoon when we were bored we decided to come up with the best all-time XI of players who donned both the red shirt and the green. I thought some Irish Reds might get a kick out of me posting here, so without further ado, here it is!
GK - Caoimhin Kelleher
Young Kwee-veen is, to the best of my knowledge, the only GK from the ROI to have played for Liverpool. A young man with tremendous potential - just look at this close-range save vs MK Dons. Got a fair bit of stick for letting in 5 in the League Cup vs Arsenal, but to be fair to him, he made a decisive save in the penalty shootout. One for the future?
RB - Steve Finnan
A defender of the highest pedigree. Capable of mesmerising attacking football. Had a great eye for a pass, and a brilliant crosser of the ball. Not to mention he was incredible in the tackle.
CB - Mark Lawrenson
Although not born in the Republic of Ireland, Preston's Mark Lawrenson turned out 39 times for the Boys in Green, scoring 5 goals. Of course, he's best known for his 356 appearances as a Red, during which he struck up a formidable partnership with Alan Hansen that led to 5 league titles, 3 League Cups, the FA Cup and the European Cup in 1984. He was tremendous in the tackle, and was able to both repel and build from the back. Had an eye for goal too.
CB - Phil Babb
Perhaps best remembered for his ball-busting commitment to the cause, Phil was the lynchpin of Roy Evans' 3-5-2 formation, typically playing in the middle of the back three. He had a great eye for a pass and a crunching tackle on him.
LB - Steve Staunton
Ireland's first centurion had two spells at Liverpool throughout the 80's & 90's. Best known as a LB, 'Stan' had a keen eye for goal, once scoring a hat-trick vs Wigan. He was a thrilling attacker in his prime, with piercing runs and dangerous crosses galore. Honourable mention must go to his impressive moonlight as a makeshift goalie in the 1999 derby vs Everton.
RW- Steve Heighway
A bonafide Liverpool legend, Heighway won four league titles, two European Cups, two UEFA Cups as well as an FA Cup and League Cup over a decade at the club. A tremendous crosser of the ball, a mesmerising dribbler and a splendid finisher, he is widely considered as one of LFC's all-time greats.
CM - Ray Houghton
Although his most famous strikes were for Ireland, vs Italy and England, Ray Houghton also held high pedigree as a goalscoring midfielder with the Reds - just look at these finishes. He had a hell of a cross in him too.
CM - Ronnie Whelan
Possibly Liverpool's greatest ever Irishman. He scored some spectacular goals - just look at this screamer vs Man Utd. Originally nicknamed the 'Milk Cup Kid' due to scoring two goals in the final vs Spurs, he won six league titles at the heart of the Reds' midfield, eventually captaining the side for a spell. A smashing header of the ball, and a brilliant passer and tackler too.
LM - Michael Robinson
Perhaps an unorthodox choice given that he only spent one season at the club - but Robinson was a magnificent finisher, and starred in the European Cup final vs Roma.
ST - Robbie Keane
Yes, he only spent six months at the club, but you can't leave out a man who scored 68 (SIXTY-EIGHT) goals for Ireland. Just watch this goal vs Arsenal and tell me Rafa didn't make a mistake selling him.
ST - John Aldridge
Even though Aldo was only at the club for two seasons, he's remembered as one of the finest finishers in the history of the club - and for good reason. He scored 26 league goals as Liverpool marched to the title in 1987-88 and chipped in with some vital goals in the FA Cup too, such as this SF brace vs Forest. He also held the ROI's goalscoring record for a number of years, with 19 international goals.
Manager: John McKenna
Of course, Liverpool's first manager was an Irishman too. McKenna hailed from County Monaghan and led the Reds during their breakaway from Everton. He went on to serve as club chairman before becoming President of the Football League for nearly 20 years. At his funeral, his coffin was carried through the city by three Liverpool players and three Everton players.
Subs/Honourable mentions:
Jason McAteer
Jim Beglin
Mark Kennedy
