The Ghost of Hexes Past
book two in a sapphic urban fantasy romance series about witches
an ostracized necromancer is trying to get the approval from the coven council to make her own coven to keep her adopted kids safe
while her ex is struggling with her own role among the witches and her family
when the latter receives a mysterious threat, and the former is getting increasingly haunted, their tenuous new relationship is tested
#The Ghost of Hexes Past#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#sapphic books#a nice urban fantasy sapphic series!#My favourite part of these books is definitely Rusâ relationship with her adopted kids.#I kinda like the exploration of magic + technology too.#Their romance is definitely more of a slower burn and not the priority in the narrative; which I like.#Though I canât remember where there relationship stood in the last book (and I started this like; wait; were they not together already?)#Maybe I forgot some things from the first book but I felt like the antagonist came out of nowhere at the end.#I did see that apparently one of them is acespec but I havenât picked up any indication of that in either book. so idk

A render I made of all the models I created that are presentable right now. Originally I wanted to have them all in an aquarium but I'll save that image for when I more characters ready. With the exception of Chica's base I made every single character in Blender. About a year ago I couldn't model much in Blender. Here's where I'm at now. The basketball was made in 10 seconds. Next time I work on Hex I will make an actual basketball.
I intend to eventually release all these models publicly but not at this time. This month's goal is to get more models done and master Shape Keys / Face Rigging.
Going from left to right: The Avenger (Pop Goes the Balloon), Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past (ATHF), Hex (Friday Night Funkin), Tabi (Turnabout AU), Feathers McGraw (Wallace and Gromit), Orson (Pac-Man World), Brian Griffin (Family Guy), Broque Monsieur (Mario & Luigi), Vassago (Legacy of Rust).

Maybe in Another Universe, You're Still the Man I Love: Viktor x Reader
Summary: You get sent to the same alternate timeline with Ekko and Heimerdinger, and you find out just how wonderful your life could've been.
Words: 2.1k
Author's Notes: Yeah so that finale sent me into deep grief and writing is the only way I can heal I fear. I hope you enjoy this interpretation of what Viktor could be doing in the alternate timeline.
âAre you alright, darling?â
Your vision comes into focus, though your head is still pounding. Youâre extremely nauseous, feeling like your body is not your own as you become aware of the all-too-familiar voice that just spoke to you.
Youâre sitting on a desk in an Academy classroom, journals and various papers surrounding you. The sun is shining through the windows, cascading gold onto the other desks and tables. Itâs a peaceful, simple sight. Something that feels so wrong for precisely that reason.
âI donât have another class for a while, you can talk to me,â Viktor says, brushing his fingers against your face. âCare to tell me why youâre looking at me like that?â
You suppose you look like youâve seen a ghost, which isnât so far from the truth. You must be dreamingâmaybe hallucinatingâanything to explain how this isnât real.
âIâŚâ you start, failing to find the words to say.
-
You storm into the lab, locking your eyes on the empty hexcore cocoon, then at Jayce.
âWhere the fuck is he?â
âI donât know!â Jayce fires back at you, clearly just as distraught as you are. âHe woke up and told me he needed to leave me and this place. I have no idea where he went!â
âWhy didnât you follow him?â you scream, your mind spinning. Who knows how the hexcore changed him, he could literally be anywhere.
âHe didnât want me to! What donât you understand?â Jayce slumps back into his chair, his face in his hands. As soon as he notices a tear fall down your cheek, his tone softens. âLook, I...we both know heâs been different since he started messing with the hexcore. He had told me to destroy it...but I couldnât. And now heâs even more different. Iâm so sorry,â
âJayceâŚâ you walk towards him. âIâm not blaming you for anything thatâs happened. Heâs been pushing both of us away for a long time. I guess...I just thought maybe when he woke up heâd love me again like he used to. Did he even ask about me?â
Jayce shakes his head, and your heart sinks even further.
-
âI think Iâm dreaming,â you finally say, and Viktor tilts his head. âThis...this isnât real. Weâre not like this, we havenât been like this in a long time. Youâre not...what are you here, a professor?â
He cups your face and kisses your forehead, âDarling, I donât think youâve been getting enough sleep, youâre talking nonsense,â
âNo, no, no,â you jump off the desk and pace around the room. âIf this isnât a dream, then where am I? Some sort of other reality?â
âYou mean to say you believe...this is not your world?â Viktor takes in your words intently.
âWell in my world, you fell out of love with me in favor of your work, and then you nearly died and got severely mutated by the hexcore. So yeah, Iâd say things are pretty different,â
He raises an eyebrow, âHex...core?â
âYou donât have that here?â
âSeemingly not,â
You sigh, perching yourself back on the desk, âYou donât believe me, do you?â
âNo, I...I have theorized the possibility of alternate universes before, but I never thought I would come face to face with it in my lifetime,â he starts writing on the wall chalkboard. âI see no reason not to believe you. After all, my wife of this universe would probably not be saying these things,â
âWeâre married?â
âOf course. Now tell me, what else is different in your universe?â
-
Youâve tried to find him everywhereâgoing all the secret places the two of you would go in the past, and asking people if theyâve seen him both topside and bottom. Thereâs no signs, not even a clue. He doesnât want to be found.
You make your way back to Jayceâs lab, surprised to see Heimerdinger and a young man you donât recognize with him. They fill you in on their concern about wild runes showing up around the city, and their plan to check on the hexgates. Youâre desperate for anything to get your mind off Viktor, so you go along with them.
Youâve never been to the source of the hexgates before, and itâs even more grand than you imagined. One thing could go wrong and the entire thing would explode, but itâs precisely the potential of destruction that makes it all the more fascinating.
That is, until it becomes entirely unpredictable.
Your surroundings change at the blink of an eyeâwarped visuals and sounds you canât make out. You scream for the others, but no one can hear.
-
You do your best to describe all the important events and details of your timeline, while Viktor takes notes on the chalkboard and compares what you say to his timeline. He seems particularly interested in his inventions in your timeline, and his partnership with Jayceâwhoâs no longer alive in his timeline.
âHe died in an explosion here at the academy several years ago, it was a tragic accident that also killed a young girl from the undercity. He was a friend and a brilliant mind,â he pauses. âWe...actually named our son after him.â
Your eyes widen, overwhelmed by this possibility of what couldâve been, âWe have a son?â
âWe do. And heâs perfect,â Viktor smiles softly. âYou really are from a different time, arenât you?â
You nod, trying to hold back tears. Why does this realityâs version of you get to be happy? Why does this Viktor get to dodge corruption and the hands of hubris?
Viktor gazes once again on the chalkboard notes, looking for patterns and causes for the differences in your timelines. Would he have reached the same fate if Jayce was still alive? What caused the Undercity to heal and thrive in his timeline but not in yours? Was this hextech you speak of really so destructive?
You are the same person he fell in love with, thereâs no doubt in his mind about that, but youâve been significantly more hurt than the Y/N he knows.
He steps close to you again, wiping the tears from your face and pulling you into him, âIâm so sorry your version of me has taken a different path.â
You sob into his chest, gripping his clothes. He runs his fingers through your hair and rubs your back, soothing you as if youâre his own.
But youâre not his. This isnât your life.
You pull away, taking a deep breath, âAs much as I want to stay here, I canât keep taking over the consciousness of the me in this world. I need to find the others,â
âI donât know if itâs possible for you to get back,â he says. âYou say you got here through hextech, and that was never invented here.â
âWeâll find a way,â you run to the window, looking out to get a gauge of where you are. Heimerdinger might have landed somewhere here in the Academy too, and Ekko probably went back to the Undercity. But Jayceâif heâs dead in this universeâwhere would he be?
âBefore you go,â Viktor places a hand on your shoulder. âWould you like to meet our son?â
Anxiety washes over you, your body going numb from the prospect. Would it only hurt you more to see a life that you couldâve created?
âDonât you have more classes to teach, professor?â you smile, trying to turn your nervousness into something lighthearted.
âIâll cancel for today. Itâs about the time you usually pick him up from school anyway,â
He grabs his cane with one hand and takes your hand with the other, posting a quick note on his door as you leave.
-
You sit on a bench outside the elementary school, your heart pounding. This child is going to run out that building any minute, eager to see the mother heâs always known.
But youâre not her. You didnât carry him, birth him, or raise him. You donât have the same memories and experiences.
But you must pretend that you do.
You know which one he is immediately. Heâs a perfect combination of yours and Viktorâs features, just like youâd imagined. His smile is contagious, and he wastes no time jumping into your arms.
âLook what I made at school today, Mommy!â he puts a crafty contraption in front of your face, a colorful collection of sticks and paper glued together.
âThatâs so creative, honey, I love it,â but your attention is solely focused on him, his sweet face glowing with pride and joy.
âQuite the little inventor, arenât you?â Viktor applauds him. âWhat else did you learn today?â
âWe did reading and spelling. I can spell family now. F-A-M-I-L-E!â
âClose, sweetheart. Thereâs a âYâ at the end,â you laugh,
âAre you sure about that?â he says, wincing his adorable face in thought. âWhatever. I learned how to spell brother and sister too, but I donât have any of those. How do I get one of those?â
Viktor chuckles, âIâll talk about it with your Mommy, how about that?â
âOkay!â he jumps up and starts walking home with the two of you.
-
What if I stayed? You wonder.
Youâre playing with your son on the living room floor, with toys mostly made by Viktor himself. The house is small but cozy, a home you wish was really yours. What if you just stay in this dream reality forever?
What if you never find the others? What if there really is no way to get back?
But no, that wouldnât be fair to the you of this reality. Sheâs the one who has this life, not you. Besides, Viktor and his son deserve their wife and mother back.
You hear a knock on the door, and Viktor goes to open it.
âOh, Viktor, it is so good to see you.â
Your head swivels instantly towards the yordle in the entryway, âHeimerdinger! You found me!â you join Viktor at the door, âWhereâs Ekko and Jayce?â
âI have not found Jayce as of yet, but I did find Ekko and sent him back to his timeline about a week ago. We found some hextech fragments and were able to use them to jump through time and space.â
âSo...I can get home too?â
âAs soon as youâre ready. We built the machine in a young girlâs lab in the Undercity,â he looks between you, then Viktor, and finally your son. His attitude of urgency dissipates as he begins to understand. âBut...I could not blame you if you want to stay longer.â
Your son Jayce comes running to join you, grabbing onto your leg, âWhoâs this guy, Mommy?â
âThis is Professor Heimerdinger, he used to work at the Academy,â you pat his head, âYour dad used to be his assistant.â
âIâm sure you already have a brilliant mind, my boy,â Heimerdinger says. âYour parents must be proud.â
Little Jayce giggles.
âActually, I would very much like to see this new invention youâve built, Professor,â Viktor speaks up. âIâm now quite intrigued by the prospect of other universes.â
âI have no rule against you observing, Viktor, but Iâm sure you understand I must destroy it after we all get back. It is too dangerous to be left here unsupervised,â Heimerdingerâs tone becomes more serious. âIâm sure Y/N has told you of the destruction hextech caused in our universe, especially to you.â
âOf course, Professor. I understand.â
-
Youâve never seen the Undercity look this beautiful.
It seems that the other version of you comes here often, so many people wave to you and little Jayce automatically runs off with some kids his age to play.
You meet a blue-haired young lady named Powder, who helped Heimerdinger and Ekko in their experiments. She looks so familiar to you, but you canât place where youâve seen her in your reality.
Heimerdinger explains how it works, and both you and Viktor listen intently. With everything up and running, you could go back this instant.
The pull to go back is strong, like an obligation to return to your rightful place in the universe. But the pull to stay is equally strong, as you gaze into your husbandâs beautiful amber eyes that you want to find solace in forever.
âItâs your choice, my love,â Viktor says, as if reading your mind.
âI know I need to go backâŚâ you exhale, tears welling in your eyes once again. âBut I donât know what Iâm going back to,â
âI donât know either,â he caresses your face, âBut I do know you are strong in every universe,â
âIâm not,â you shake your head, âNot without you.â
âDonât say that,â his thumbs smooth across your cheeks.
You nod, turning towards the device.
âCould youâŚcould you kiss me one last time?â you ask.
Viktor wastes no time honoring your request, crashing his lips to yours with lasting passion. He pulls away only as you back into the circle, leaving you with one last affectionate whisper:
âIâm so fortunate to have met another version of you, my love.â

take my breath away â sam winchester
pairing : sam winchester x gn!reader ââ˘Â genre : angst, hurt/comfort, fluff ââ˘Â cw : features dean x reader (platonic), near death experience, suffocation, other canon violence and death, injuries, blood mention, swearing, so much pining, case fic, stereotypical witch, (not) unrequited love, petty fights/arguments, petty sam, kissing, crying, guilt, reader vaguely implied to be shorter than sam, pet names, food mentions, (baby, honey - from sam, darlin'/kiddo from dean), no use of y/n, mentions of end of season 2-4 spoilers, poorly edited, lmk if i missed something! ââ˘Â wc : 13.7K summary : because of an unexpected witch's curse, it's almost too late for you and sam to confess your feelings to each other.
MOVED BLOGS TO @sammyluvr !! no longer active on this blog! all fics can be found there!
you see sam when it rains. even if heâs sitting right in front of you, youâll look out the car window and at the rivulets of water rushing down the glass, distorting the image of an empty highway and summer-time trees at dusk, and youâll see him at seventeen with rain in his hair and running down his cheeks. youâll think of that smile he gave you as he took your hand and how that look he had in his eyes haunts you worse than any ghost youâve seen, because you think it couldâve been love. sometimes, youâll still see glimpses of that sam, but he can be rare. so, you go as far to wonder if maybe he still looks at you like that when your gaze is turned away.Â
once, when the windows were down and he was sitting in the back with you for a change, the spring air was nice and clean as it filtered into the sometimes stuffy car, and you felt his multicolor gaze watching you. the look on his face changed when you locked eyes, but for an imagined moment, it seemed that youâyour eyes closed against the wind and a light smile on your face that, for once, wasnât grimâwere his everything.
you press your temple to the cold glass of the window, hoping itâll sober you up a little from your love-drunk state. itâs so goddamn stupid that youâre even thinking about him like this right now, because heâs still sort of mad at you for something rash you did during your last hunt. only you donât think it was stupid, so youâre half pissed that he wonât let it go. staring at the back of his head and the pretty curled ends of his hair, you sigh quietly. even his shoulders rising up past the seat are handsome. you miss him, and heâs close enough to reach out and touch.
deanâs voice breaks your reverie, and you have to draw in a deep breath. without you even noticing, thinking about sam so hard makes you breathless, almost every time.
âso, why donât you give us the full rundown, sammy? âfore either of you decide to conk out on me,â dean suggests. that means heâs bored, because neither of you will fall asleep for at least another hour or two, and youâll probably take your turn driving for a few soon.
âsure,â sam agrees, and you hear the shuffle of papers as he digs out a newspaper article and some notes. âthree people in the last three weeks all died from suffocation, but with no apparent cause. they just,â samâs shoulders move a little as he motions vaguely with his hands, âstopped breathing.â
âsounds witchy to me,â dean says, very predictably. you think you couldâve said those exact words at the exact same time if you wanted to tease him about it.
âyeah. whatâs weird is that the vics were reported feeling out of breath up to 16 hours before they actually died. says it looks like they slowly died from oxygen deprivation,â sam adds.
âhuh. so not hex bags, but another sort of spell?â you wonder aloud, easily talking about the case despite the remainders of tension between you and sam. thatâs just how it is, with all of you. even when youâre mad, you still work the case.
âmost likely,â sam agrees, âthe vics went about their days pretty much normally until they died, so they were in different places as they were dying. seems like a hex bag wouldnât work unless it was on them the whole time.â you nod, and though heâs not turned around to look at you, youâre sure he knows anyway.
âalright, well. looks like weâve got our work cut out for us,â dean states, âweâll be in town in the morning, so weâll rest up real quick then head to the police station. you two can do your interviewing magic with the vicâs families and hopefully weâll know more by then.â
this was easily predicted as well. for as long as youâve been able to pass as an fbi agent, heâs mostly left interviewing the families to you and sam since the two of you tend to be more socially appropriate, and thus, more able to get information without raising alarms. though, the questions you ask never cease to be weird and confusing to the worldâs oblivious civilians. of course, dean makes exceptions for pretty girls who he can flirt his way into telling him just about anything. this time, you wish dean would make an exception because it kills you that you and sam arenât getting along perfectly right now. you know that youâll work it out soon, probably within the week, but you still hate it.
through the impalaâs windows, you watch the sky turn dark and the moon come out. you drive, then fall asleep to the rumble of the engine for a few hours, and wake to see the sky turn light again. keeping it all to yourself, you revel in the sunrise and the way it turns the sky bright and the clouds cotton candy pink around the edges.Â
you sink into the sight of sam sleeping in front of you, the early morning light kissing his features and shining through his mousy brown hair. if you lean a little to the left, you can soak up the image of his softly closed eyes, the mole by his nose, and the relaxed curve of his lips. you smile to yourself at the way his hair is all messed up on the side of his head thatâs resting against the window until you catch deanâs gaze on you through the rearview mirror. you tear your gaze from both brothers and latch it to the moving countryside out the window. for a while now, youâve figured thereâs no way dean doesnât see that youâre in love with his brother, but despite such, he doesnât say much outside of lightheartedly teasing for the both of you. heâs the only one who knows that sam looks at you just like that when youâre the one whoâs asleep. heâs the one who sees sam turn, trying to be subtle, just to look at the way the moonlight kisses your lips, wishing it was him.
itâs eight in the morning when you pull up to the first motel you see. you wished sam hadnât woken up on his own half an hour ago. that way, you couldâve put your hand on his shoulder, shaken him all soft and gentle like you do just for him, and mumbled, âwake up, sammy. weâre here.â then heâd stir, still sweet-looking from sleep and give you a little smile if heâd managed to dream without nightmares before remembering heâs supposed to still be upset with you.
instead, heâs fully awake when he climbs out of the car and pops your door open like he does every time you canât beat him to it. he doesnât talk about that habit, because he knows you can take care of it yourself. but if itâs so easy for him to do it as you grab your bag, then he thinks thereâs no harm. besides, youâve never told him off for it, so he does that and just about any other little thing he can get away with for you. and much to your chagrin, he still does it all when heâs pissed at you. heâs too good like that, even if you think he should just get over what happened a few days ago.
the three of you are just about wordless as you check in and pile into the room, all tired and without anything of importance to say. when you catch sight of the couch in the room, you sigh in relief. it wouldâve been samâs turn to share the bed, and youâre not sure you could do that this time around. sometimes itâs hard to breathe when heâs right there, so close after youâve spent literal hours in the car just plain old pining over him. so, you find an extra sheet in the closet and steal a pillow from deanâs bed, all but collapsing onto the couch with a morning-time âgoodnight.â
you donât care that your feet hang over the edge unless you curl up or mind the way the springs dig into the flesh of your side, all you want is to welcome quick sleep. youâre lucky, and drift off moments later. you barely have time to think about how glad you are that you wonât have one of your nights where you lay awake, staring at the ceiling as you wonder why you would fall in love with someone you canât have. him and dean are all you have, and no matter how your heart aches to pull sam close, youâd never do anything to jeopordize what you have, here and now. heâs your best friend, thatâs all you can ask for in this life, maybe even more than you should.
waking as you normally do to the sounds of sam and dean moving about the motel room, you sit up, a little groggy. you glance at the clock, and youâve slept for about four hours, just as predicted.
âup ân at âem,â dean says as he walks past you, giving you a playful clap on the back.
âmhmm,â is all you respond with, swinging your legs off the couch and digging through your bag for your pant suit and toothbrush. deanâs already in his, and samâs brushing his teeth in the bathroom, still in his tshirt and jeans from yesterday. you donât even have to say a word for sam to move out of the bathroom as you approach. so he wonât have to wait with a mouth full of tooth-paste and spit for you too long, you change quickly, leaving your clothes on the bathroom floor and opening the door for sam as you begin to brush your own teeth. the two of you maneuver around the cramped space with practiced ease, and when heâs done, he disappears back into the bedroom space without a word. when heâs petty to other people, you think itâs kind of hot. but when he does it to you, it makes you want to ring his neck.Â
âasshole,â you mumble to yourself. itâs a classic tango between the two of you; you want him to just get over it, and he wants you to admit that heâs right, or the other way around. and both of you are far too stubborn to be the one to relent first, so youâll be pissy at each other for a few days until you get bored of it or dean gets too annoyed. all it takes to get past it is you putting your head in his lap after a long day, maybe him resting his head on your shoulder, or the two of you laughing too hard over something together to keep being mad, and maybe just a few mumbled apologies from the both of you. if itâs really big enough for none of those things to work, then you talk about it until things are okay again.
dean drops you off at the first victimâs house, with the promise that the second is close enough to walk to, and the third heâll join you for once heâs done at the coronerâs office.
sam still wonât talk to you as you wait on the front porch of the house after ringing the doorbell. a young woman opens the door, probably around your own age, and you smile at her before flashing your badge.
âhi. iâm agent green. this is my partner, agent smith. weâre looking for natalie goh?â you greet, comfortable and at ease in your ruse.
âthatâs me,â she confirms for you, sounding nice enough. âhow can i help you, agents?â
âwe would just like to ask a few questions about your late boyfriend, henry,â sam explains, âmay we come inside?â
her face falls when he mentions her boyfriend, but she nods her head. âof course, come in.â you follow her to the living room where she motions for you to sit. âlet me grab you something to drink,â she offers, disappearing into the next room before you can refuse. âis lemonade okay? my next door neighbor brought me so much when she heard about henry⌠you know. i canât possibly drink it all.â
you want to say no, not wanting to make her go through the extra effort, but you accept for both you and sam out of sympathy. she sounds like she needs to keep her hands busy to distract herself.Â
she sets the drinks down in front of you, asking as she sits, âwhat, uhm, what is the fbiâs interest in ⌠in henry?â
âweâre investigating a few odd deaths, like your boyfriendâs, in the area,â sam explains, ânow, was there anything unusual the day of or the days leading up to his death?â
âi, um, i donâtâ i donât think so, like what? and, iâm sorry, the police told me he most likely choked on something, how is that strange?â natalie frets. you glance at sam and catch him readjusting his features as a brief look of surprise crosses over his face. it makes sense that thatâs what the police told her, but you hadnât known theyâd said so.
âwell, natalie, the cause of his death wasnât entirely clear, and because a few more people have died similarly since, weâre just being extra thorough,â you do your best to placate her before she starts getting too wary of you and sam. âit really could mean nothing, but itâs important for us to cover all of our bases. so, can you tell us if there was anything out of the ordinary? was he acting strange, or did you notice anything unusual around the house, like maybe cold spots or flickering lights?â
she furrows her eyebrows in confusion, âum, no. no, nothing like that. he was just being him, you know, he was such an amazing boyfriend, he made me breakfast that morning even though he said he was tired. i already told this to the police, but he sounded kind of out of breath when we called. that was the last time i talked to him,â her voice begins to tremble, so you reach out a comforting hand and place it atop hers from across the table. âi had to stay late at work, and when i got home, he was ⌠he was gone. i found him in the kitchen.â a tear slips down her cheek, and she moves her hand away from yours to wipe it off. you shift back in your seat and glance at sam, trying to give him the hint to get moving. but, he keeps his gaze trained elsewhere.
you resist the urge to roll your eyes at him, almost ready to pull the âmay i use your bathroomâ ruse first. itâs almost always sam who does it, and sure enough, he clears his throat to ask.
âwould you mind if i used your restroom?â
âoh, sure,â she says, âthereâs one by the pantry, through the kitchen and to the left.â
he stands, thanking her a bit awkwardly before disappearing through the doorway to the kitchen.
once heâs gone, you turn your attention back to natalie. âi know that this can be a difficult question, but is there anyone that comes to mind who might want to hurt henry?â absentmindedly, you take a sip of the lemonade after speaking. itâs sweet, but not too sugary. you discover that itâs just about perfect, and you canât hold back from continually taking a few sips here and there to fight back the heat of the afternoon.
âoh, goodness, no,â she sounds horrified by that prospect, âhenry was just the kindest. the best boyfriend i could ask for,â she reiterates. âyou think that someoneâ that someoneâŚ?â
âno, no,â you lie, âthere would be signs if someone else hurt him, but like i said, we just need to be completely thorough. iâm sorry to even have to ask. now, if youâre okay with it, could you tell me more about henry?â
âyes, yeah, i can do that,â she sighs in relief. itâs clear she wants to talk about him, and probably how much she misses him. you do your best to pay close attention and keep her focused on you and your questions as sam takes forever âin the bathroom.â nothing she says is very useful, itâs all about how loving and kind and just about perfect he was to her. at first, youâre able to listen without a qualm, but the more she rambles about how much she loved him, and maybe even more so how much he loved her, your mind inevitably wanders to sam. sam and your bothersome, bottomless pit of unrequited love.
you kindly cut natalie off and stand when you hear samâs footsteps approach. âit sounds like henry was a wonderful person. iâm so sorry for your loss.â despite knowing those words donât mean or do much, you still fill them with as much sincerity as you can. sam is at your side again. âwe really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us. weâll get out of your hair now.â
she shows you to the front door out of courtesy, and you give her one last thank you and kind smile before turning your back and heading to the sidewalk, sam just ahead of you. pushing off the ground a little harder for a few steps, you catch up to him and his long strides, unable to resist the urge to let your gaze wander to his face.
âanything?â you ask, hoping heâll look at you too.
ânope,â he shakes his head, âno emf, no hexbags, nothing out of the ordinary.â pursing your lips, you let your gaze fall to the sidewalk ahead of you when he doesnât make eye-contact. âanything on your end?â
ânot really. she just rambled about how in love they were. said there was nothing strange about the day, or him, and that he had no enemies. she made him sound like a complete angel.â without you realizing, your lip curls a little in jealousy.
sam just huffs in response, likely bothered by the lack of information. âletâs hope we can find something about the other two.â
you repeat the ruse at the next two homes, and samâs hopes are dashed, because by the time you, sam, and dean are back at the motel room, just about the only thing of value you bring back is a paper bag of takeout.
spread out in the room, with your respective assortments of food, notes, and computers, you share all the details you can think of to hopefully find a pattern. deanâs on his bed, sam on the couch, and you at the dingy table. the biggest discovery is on deanâs part. according to the coroner, each of the victimâs hearts had inexplicably shrunken and shriveled up. this detail was kept out of the public eye because of how strange it was; it happened after each victim died, as it very clearly did not contribute to the cause of death. that, and the coroner is absolutely stumped by how such a thing could possibly happen.
dean asks if the first two interviews were as fruitless as the last, and you sigh as you explain just how unhelpful theyâd been.
âthe only common threads are that they were young adults, all in a relationship, and all sounded to be just about the perfect partner,â you report. âi mean, maybe the witch is targeting people in loving relationships? jealousy? or maybe they have some sort of secret we couldnât dig up just by interviewing. the people we talked to were obviously biased. the first victimâs girlfriend wouldnât stop talking about how amazing he was, the secondâs sister told us she was the sweetest girlfriend out there, and you heard how the thirdâs husband described them.â
âreally?â dean asks. âi mean, yeah, i heard the last guy, but i ran into the first vicâs girlfriendâs sister at the station. she was doing something for her sister there, and she did not seem too impressed with the guy when i asked about him.â
you raise your eyebrows, about to speak again when sam beats you to it.
âso maybe we are looking for secrets. did she say what she wasnât impressed with?â sam says just about the exact thing you were about to.
dean shrugs. âjusâ said he was sort of a lazy boyfriend. didnât take good enough care of her or show his love all that much.â
âmaybe he was cheating?â you suggest.
âmaybe,â dean repeats. âhowâs this? you can dig into records and see if you can find any dirt on the vics. sam, you can look for a spell that mightâve caused this, and iâll scout out a few local places. the officer i was talking to gave me a few places the vics probably spent time at.â
âsure,â you agree, a teasing edge to your voice, âjust donât get too distracted. we all know by âlocal placesâ you mean bars. no sex unless you solve the case, and if you solve the case, no sex because you have to report back to us.â
âso no sex?â he plays along, acting all offended.
ânope!â you confirm, giving a firm shake of your head.Â
deanâs already on his way out the door as he chimes, âno promises!â
âseriously!â sam calls after him, âwe need info!â he groans and shakes his head when the only response he gets is the shutting of the door. when he doesnât make a snarky comment about dean to you, you clench your jaw.
âsam.â it takes a lot of willpower to sound bothered by him, rather than say his name all sweet.
âmhmm?â heâs purposely keeping his gaze on his computer and his response short.
you roll your eyes, âcâmon, canât you just get over it? itâs not like you havenât done stupider things to get a case done.â
since you insist on arguing about it, he lifts his gaze, looking unimpressed. âdoesnât mean you shouldnât have done it. you almost got dean hurt.â
âand i already apologized for that!â you say indignantly, annoyed that thatâs his argument. he knows full well, better than anyone, that dean can deal with a measly vamp, even if he wasnât expecting it. âitâs not like dean canât handle himself!â
âyou should have at least run the plan by us,â he says. you roll your eyes again.
âit was a spur of the moment decision. unless you wanted me to shout it out, compromise my position, and let every single vamp in that nest know exactly what i was gonna do?â you retort. sam sighs, in the way that you can tell he knows your argument is better than his. so, you still canât figure out why heâs still upset about it, outside of his usual stubbornness.
âit couldâve gone so wrong,â is all he can come up with, âand you know that. it was stupid, and you couldâve gotten hurt. or worse.â there it is. his voice changed when he said you couldâve gotten hurt.
itâs your turn to sigh, this time because you finally understand. it makes your heart flutter a little, and it makes you even more annoyed. âsam, i can handle myself. you know that. sure, it was kind of stupid, and not a fully thought out plan, but i had to figure out a way to get us out of there! four vamps were about to find you, so i had to distract them. easiest way was with my blood. one vamp found dean, but he handled that just as easy as he always does. i knew youâd have my back, so i let the other three come after me. and look! weâre all here, alive and kicking! this is such a stupid thing for you to get mad over.â
âitâs stupid for me to want you to be more careful?â he counters.
âsam, we have to take risks in this job, we do it all the time. thatâs just how this works, whatâs different about this time?â you question.
âjustââ he presses his forefinger and thumb to the bridge of his nose as he tries to come up with a reason thatâs good enough. a reason thatâs not âi worry about you,â because thatâll make you even more angry, make it sounds like he doesnât think youâre a good enough hunter. and he certainly canât explain that thatâs not it, he worries because the worst possible thing to him is you getting hurt. because then youâd ask why and he wouldnât be able to tell you the truth.
âcanât we just be done with this?â you ask, and the tone of your voice is one he canât deny. youâre upset, bothered, and tired of his pettiness. more so, youâre just plain old tired. it takes too much effort to stay upset with one another. he lets your question sit in the air for a moment longer.
âyeah,â he relents, voice quiet now. heâs holding back words, touches, feelings. he wants to tell you, âjust please donât put yourself in danger, it scares me. i get so worried. it makes me want to pull you close and protect you even though i know you donât need it. thatâs why iâm upset.â he wants to get up from the couch and set his computer across from yours, sit across from you, just so youâre a little bit closer. he wants to touch you so bad that it sort of hurts.
instead, he has to live for the relieved breath that huffs out through your nose, so quiet it couldnât quite be counted as a sigh.
âgood,â you say, voice matching his own quietness. thereâs still tension hanging between you, but soon enough, itâll dissipate altogether, and tomorrow, youâll be back to joking with one another, brushing shoulders, and hiding how in love with each other you are. maybe he can even convince you to share his bed tonight. the couch is horridly uncomfortable.
only after youâre convinced that sam wonât be all pissy to you until the next time you find something silly to be angry about do you begin on your research. itâs just as fruitless as everything else today, and after hours searching and drawing banks, you go back to the interviews, jotting down all the details you can remember in case seeing it on paper helps something new and useful jump out at you.
all you get is a dull ringing in your ear, probably courtesy of some old motel appliance. but the ringing grows louder, and in your tired state, it becomes completely bothersome. you press your hand against your left earâitâs loudest thereâand shut your eyes. itâs been an hour or two since sam has shifted to sit across from you to escape the digging springs of the couch, so the movement catches his attention quickly.
âyou alright?â he asks, already with a little pinch of his eyebrows in worry.
âyeah, âm fine,â you say, realizing the ringing must be the beginning of a headache, since sam canât seem to hear it. âjust a headache,â you explain.
âwant me to get you some advil?â he offers.
âno, no thatâs alright, iâve got it,â you deny, but you donât get up. your head doesnât really hurt, and the ringing fades as fast as it appeared. youâre about to sigh in relief, when suddenly, youâre sort of breathless, and you gasp to take in air. the moment passes, and you shake your head to yourself a little. itâs weird until you remember that samâs looking at you with that little furrow to his brow, sweet and concerned, like the last thing he wants is for you to be in pain, even if itâs just a measly headache. that look in his eyes as his gaze focuses on you and only you is certainly enough to take your breath away. it just took you by surprise this time.
âyou sure youâre okay?â he asks again, worried by your gasp.
âmhmm,â you hum, trying to keep your tone light and trying not to look too hard into his pretty hazel eyes. âjusâ hurt for a second, but i think the headacheâs gone away.â
âokay,â he relents, not fully convinced, but willing to take your word for it and refocus on his computer screen. you turn your own attention back to the papers in front of you, away from his face, so close that it sends your heart into wild palpitations every time your mind wanders from the case and to his presence. in other words, it happens often.
youâre determined to find something, some detail that clicks and leads you to anything important. but after another unfocused hour, your eyelids are heavy, almost as much as your head as you wish to just sink down and fall asleep right there on that little table.
âyou should get some sleep,â sam says, no stranger to the way you look when you should quit being stubborn and just go to bed. and normally, youâd resist, but the idea of sleep, of closing your eyes and letting your breath even out, slow down, is far too inviting.
so, you relent, and close your laptop. âyeah,â you say as you shuffle the sheets of paper together and set them on a neat pile on top of your computer.
âtake the bed, too,â he insists, âyou look exhausted.â
âmm, glad to hear it,â you joke halfheartedly, âbut, no, sam, that couch is too small for you. itâs small for me, even.â
âand itâs seriously uncomfortable,â he adds.
âso weâll share. iâll leave space for you. you should come to bed soon, too. âs not like we should wait up for dean,â you snicker. sam rolls his eyes, but easily agrees with your conclusion. as you settle into the covers of the motel bed, you consider waiting up for him so you can feel the dip of the bed, then the warmth that radiates off him as he lays beside you. you want to feel the brush of his long arms, the heel of his foot or nudge of his toe, sometimes youâre treated with the broad expanse of his back. but sleep claims you before you can even make the attempt.
samâs big hand on your shoulder brings you back into consciousness, and you breathe in long and hard since it seems like you canât quite fill your lungs. then your eyes flutter open, and samâs figure is hovering over yours, his hand lingering, then slipping away as he sees you wake. he doesnât stand fully upright yet, unsure if he should say something or not.
he keeps his voice low, not wanting to alert dean, whoâs changing in the bathroom. âare you feeling fine?â
groggy as you sit up, you peek at the clock. 8:43. you slept through the 8:30 alarm. odd.
âuh, yeah, iâm fine,â you answer, voice gravelly from the morningâs first use, âwhy?â
sam shifts to sit on the bedside opposite you. ânothing just⌠i donât know, you were just breathing really light last night. i could barely even tell you were breathing at some points and normally you breathe pretty noticeably while you sleep. and, you know, given this case, i just wanted to check.â
sam notices the way you breathe when you sleep. thatâs just about all you can take away from his words. sam pays enough attention to the way you breathe when you sleep to know when your breathing is different. sam thinks about the way that you breathe. maybe thatâd be creepy from anyone else, but you think about the way he breathes too. the way it lulls you to sleep when heâs close, the way it catches when heâs surprised, or the way it changes when heâs about to laugh.
then you remember heâs said something youâre supposed to address. âitâs nothing, sam. i feel totally fine, just tired from working back to back cases, is all.â you say this because youâre sure of it; you do feel just fine. and sam makes you breathless all the time, so there's nothing out of the ordinary there.
âare you sure?â he presses, âyou slept straight through the alarm, like a rock.â
âiâm sure,â you say.
âokay,â you can immediately tell that heâs not entirely convinced as he says this, âbut if anything happens or changes or you feel like youâre out of breath, you promise to tell me or dean?â
âof course.â you may not want to be fussed over, but you certainly donât want to go out in such a stupid, horrible way. âi promise,â you add, just for his sake. deanâs phone starts ringing, and he appears out of the bathroom.
âeither way, letâs get this case done, and quick,â sam insists.
âdonât have to tell me twice,â you agree, throwing off the covers to get ready for the day.
deanâs voice keeps you from lingering by samâs side. âhey, crazy kids, letâs hurry it up. just got off the phone with the sheriff, there was another death last night.â
âdammit,â you and sam swear in unison.Â
on the way to the scene, dean updates you on his findings from last night. he was just as unsuccessful as you in finding major dirt on any of the victims, though he recieved similar testimonials to the sisterâs about the first, henry. otherwise, he was able to find the witchâs possible hunting ground in a bar where all three victims have been seen with their partners. sam reports that heâs getting close to finding the right spell after discovering a few similar ones.Â
when you reach the victimâs house, sam and dean check in with the police officers, and you immediately head to interview whoever found the victimâs body. heâs obviously distraught, and probably still in shock from losing his boyfriend. you do your best to stay gentle, kind, and understanding as you lead him through the interview, interrupting your questions for the occasional âhe sounds like he was a wonderful partner,â or other such comforting phrase as the man, tyler, rambles about how great he was, how guilty he feels, and just about nothing helpful except for adding another data point to the one pattern you have.
âthank you for your help,â you say, giving him a tight lipped smile before standing and drifting over to sam on instinct as you mull over the information you recieved. heâs poking around in the kitchen, subtly searching for anything abnormal and most likely coming up empty as this house follows the unhelpful trend of the rest.
âanything?â he asks once youâre by his side.
you shake your head, âjust the madly in love bit. everything was pretty much the same as the other vics as well.â sam sighs like he expected that answer.
âi think we should look more into the first victim,â he suggests, echoing the same thought that you had. âmaybe interview natalie again, see if she admits something different about henry if we push it a little.â
âi agree, though iâd say letâs hold off on interviewing her again unless we canât find the spell soon. even if she admits that he wasnât as good to her as she said before, iâm not sure how much good that does in comparison to the spell. if you keep looking into that, iâll check henryâs records more thoroughly. i looked into him less last night since we already had something on him.â you revise the plan a bit, and sam nods in agreement, making that sort of awkward face with his lips pursed and eyebrows raised that he does when someone without the knowledge you have comes in hearing range. you glance behind you to see the figure of a police officer through the kitchen doorway and are fast to quit all talk of spells and witches to avoid sounding insane.
âdean can scout out the bar again to see if this most recent couple frequented there as well,â sam puts the last piece in place for your plan, just as you imagined it. once it seems like thereâs nothing left to glean from the house, you grab dean and head out back to the car. the brothers walk a bit ahead of you as sam fills dean in on the plan.
âexcuse me! agent,â a voice calls from behind you. the three of you turn, and you wave the two of them away to indicate that youâll deal with it.
âyes?â you respond as an officer approaches.
âyour partner asked for the full coronerâs reports on paper from the first three victims,â she says, holding out a file as she reaches you.
âah! right. thank you, officer.â you give her a polite smile and take the papers before turning away. sam and dean have made it to the impala, parked a bit away due to the police cars surrounding the house. you jog at a casual pace to catch up, but falter about halfway there as your breaths turn all shuddery and quick. you stop, trying to right yourself and desperate to brush this off, but you just keep gulping in breaths, feeling like youâve run a mile at top speed without warming up.Â
shit. shit, shit, shit, is all you can think. fuck.
as you stare at the car, deanâs already in the front seat and sam is pulling the passengerâs door open, and you will with all your might that neither of them will turn to look for you. you donât want them to catch you like this. instead, you want to explain it to them, calm and collected and full of breath because your bodyâs beginning to readjust and you should be fine to walk over in moments and dammitâ samâs twisted around to find you, his hands resting on the top of the car and the door. the second he catches sight of you, just standing there with your chest heaving up and down, heâs launched himself away from the car and towards you. he calls your name, worry flooding his voice. you had tried to recompose yourself the second you saw his head turning, but it was too late, and now heâs jogging your way.
sam is in front of you in moments, his hands on your shoulders and his face fallen in a deep frown.
âyouâre not okay, are you?â
âiâ iâmâ,â you canât think of what to say, and though your breath is returning to normal, you canât deny him. âletâs just get in the car. please.âÂ
his jaw clenches and his eyes flick all over you, from the top of your head to the point of your shoes like he always looks at you when he thinks you might be hurt. heâs taking you in, quick and almost panicked so he can fix it right away. he takes a steadying breath because heâs so ovewrought he can barely think. âfine,â he says, voice carefully hushed. if he doesnât control it, he might start shouting, panicking even. sam canât bear to leave you untouched now, so he leaves a hand splayed on your shoulder blade as you finish the short walk to the car. he opens the back door and climbs right in, completely foregoing his spot in the passengerâs seat. you realize he wants to sit in the back with you, and it wouldâve been sweet if it wasnât because youâre probably dying.
jaw clenched, you follow him in, and deanâs already twisted around in his seat, gaze shifting between the two of you to try and read what just happened.
âwhat was that all about?â he questions, eyebrows raised. you put a hand on samâs knee to stop him from telling dean.
âthe witch got me,â you drop the news without much hesitation, more focused on getting your two cents in before either of them start grilling you with questions and making stupid suggestions to try and fix it, âitâs gotta be someone we met or passed by yesterday. one of the people we interviewed or someone from the diner we had lunch at; these types of spells normally require the victimâs dna. and before either of you do anything stupid or crazy, weâre gonna stick with the same plan. dean, you can drop us at the motel so we can find the spell and reversal, and you find out what you can at the bar. got it?â
dean looks at you like youâre crazy, and you ignore samâs gaze altogether.Â
âgot it?â dean repeats back to you, incredulous, ânot so much, kid, iâm gonna need you to explain this to me a little better. what do you mean the witch got you? you mean youâre gonna stop breathing in some odd hours that might not be enough time for us to find and gank this witch?â
âyes, dean, thatâs what i mean. try to keep up,â you turn a little mean as your frustration takes over in order to compensate for your growing fear. âand iâm not going to die, so quit being so pessimistic. weâll find the witch, as long as we stay focused on the plan. unless you have a faster way, which iâd be happy to abide by.â neither have a good enough retort to that, so you continue, âcan we go now? we might not have that much time.â
with much effort, dean turns back in his seat and starts the engine. his voice is low when he asks, âwhat do you mean by that?â
âwell, i donât know exactly when this whole thing started!â you answer as he pulls into the street, âsam said my breathing wasnât totally normal last night. if that means anything, well, i went to bed early last night, around eleven. that could mean itâs been at least, i donât know,â you check the time, âeleven hours. which gives us five, minimum.â you think you can physically feel sam tense up next to you.
âfive hours?â sam repeats, his voice taut, like heâs holding back anger, fear, maybe more. âand were there any times before that you felt out of breath?âÂ
you think back to yesterday. sure, every time i looked at you, isnât quite an answer that you can give. âum, iâm not sure,â you say, sounding more cryptic than casual, as you had meant. you see deanâs eyebrow raise through the rearview mirror.
âyouâre not sure?â dean asks, unbelieving. the two brothers are starting to sound like a broken record as they repeat every other thing you say back to you.
âyeah. nothing comes to mind,â you say, more firmly this time.
sam sighs. âyou canât seriously think itâs a good idea to hide that sort of thing from us if it happened. this is serious.â
you scoff, âoh, really? i wasnât aware, itâs not like itâs my life on the line, or anything like that.â
âalright, letâs not get pissy,â dean intervenes.
âpissy?â you scoff again, âright, because this is serious and iâm apparently unaware of that.â
dean says your name, voice a little chiding as he tries to disperse some of the tension thatâs building within the small space of the car. âletâs focus on the case here. sam is right, we need to know everything you do. was there anything else weird you noticed last night?â
âi donât know!â you exclaim before calming down a bit and taking a deep breath. âi had this ringing in my ears for a minute, around ten. i thought it was a headache. and ⌠i did feel breathless, but just for a second. i thought it was ⌠something else.â
âwhy didnât you say anything?â sam asks, immediately remembering this. you had pressed your hand to your ear. he believed you when you said it was a headache, but he should have known better. youâre far more likely to rub your temples when you feel a headache coming on.
âi thought it was something else,â you repeat.
âlike what?â he presses.
âlikeââ you hesitate, âlike nothing. just nothing, i donât know.â
dean interrupts again to get things back on track, âso that could mean four hours, not five.â you see samâs jaw clenching out of the corner of your eye.
âyeah,â you confirm, hoping your voice doesnât reveal how anxious you really are.
âmy question is why just you?â dean asks. âiâd normally figure itâs because they suspect you to be a hunter, but if they were able to get your dna, they probably had access to ours, too. the witch think youâre madly in love with sammy or somethinâ?â
you fluster at that, mind scrambling, why in the goddamn hell would dean say that? does he want me dead faster? âuhm, uh,â you laugh a little, completely awkward about it, âwhy would they think that? we were clearly, you know, in a working relationship, not a, hahâ romantic,â you clear your throat, ârelationship. iâm sure itâs just the hunter thing, maybe they couldnât get your dna⌠or they thought i was more worth killing,â you attempt at a joking insult, but youâre still sort of jerking through your words and reeling from someone saying âyouâre madly in love with sammyâ out loud.
to your left, sam looks almost as flustered as you feel, which brings you an ounce of comfort.
âwhatever you say,â dean shrugs.
when you get back to the hotel, samâs practically running inside to pull out his laptop, and dean speeds away the second the car doors close behind the two of you. both of you are fidgety and antsy as you conduct your research in silence. you think samâs even more nervous than you, with his leg bouncing and teeth chewing away at his lower lip. youâre not sure if you should comfort him, or let him be in favor of getting the research done. it doesnât take too long for him to find the original spell, and as he tells you about it, some nervousness dissipates when the both of you get back into the groove of a normal hunt, trying to pretend that this time, the consequences arenât as personal as they could ever get.
you canât find any dirt on henry in any records, so you focus on staff from the bar and diner from yesterday to see if thereâs any overlap that could have gotten dna from both you and all the other four victims. something else entirely jumps out at you as you check employment records.
âsam, itâs natalie,â you blurt out into the silence of the room. he raises his eyebrows, and you explain before he can even ask. âshe works at the bar. and i drank some of that lemonade she gave us. she had easy access to everyoneâs dna, and henry was the only deviation from the pattern.â
sam stands as you explain, âokay, letâs go.â
âno, letâs call dean and finish finding the reversal spell. iâd like to have a backup plan, if thatâs alright.â sam purses his lips, looking like he wants to argue. you propose something more rational than his idea, âweâll call dean and let him know. he can go to her house and make sure sheâs the real deal before we go, too.â
âfine,â sam agrees, pulling out his phone, just as it begins to ring. he answers it and puts it on speaker, âdean, itâs natalie.â
âyeah, i know. thatâs what i was about to tell you, the idiots from last night didnât bother to mention it,â he complains. âiâm headed to her house right now.â to prove it, you hear the car door open and close. âhowâs it going on your end?â
âwe found the spell, weâre looking for the reversal right now,â you answer. âcall us if you need help.â
âmm, you just take care oâ yourself, alright? iâll call you back.â after that, all you get is the hang-up tone.Â
a bit later, your concentration is interrupted by the pinging of samâs phone. you watch him as he checks the messages, then looks up at you with a poorly hidden scowl.
âshe wasnât at her house,â he explains, âdeanâs headed to her sisterâs to look for her there. but itâs definitely her, he found a secret room full of, yâknow, as heâd say, âwitchy stuff.ââ
you try to hide your disappointment and the uneven rise and fall of your chest. samâs stayed mostly focused on the research, but every now and then, you feel him looking you over, brow furrowed and eyes concerned as he checks for anything abnormal. heâs looking at you like that now.
âdamn,â is all you manage in response while still trying to stay casual about it.
âhow are you feeling?â he asks. you expected the question, but you still donât want to answer. youâre about to tell him youâre fine, since youâre not really running out of breath yet, until he speaks again before you can, âand donât say âfine.ââ
âi am fine,â you insist immediately, âjust extra tired from getting a little less oxygen than normal. but nothing crazy. i can still focus on this research and i can still hold a weapon.â you demonstrate by grabbing one of the knives you keep strapped to your thigh and twirling it a little in your hand. samâs face spells out the word âreally?â
âjustâ tell me if it gets worse. please,â heâs just about begging, and with a bit of puppy dog eye action, youâre crumbling.
âokay, sam,â you relent, letting your voice go soft. heâs really scared for you, and it makes you feel just about every little thing. you want to comfort him, reassure that youâll be okay, even when youâre terrified for yourself. you want him to comfort you, for that exact reason, and you want to hold his hand. maybe you can be scared together, a little closer than you are now. you want to kiss him, because what if this is the only chance you get? that thought horrifies you. then you wonder if itâs for the best. maybe you should die as his best friend, because dying as his anything is better than scaring him away first. itâs hard to concentrate on the research, but itâs not hard to find the motivation. the hope is to avoid death completely.
finally, you find it.
âi got it, sam!â youâre excited, then a bit breathless after pushing so much air out of your lungs so fast. the breath you take in is sort of shuddering, and it makes sam frown. he doesnât even try to hide how worried he is. his face is nothing but unadulterated concern and care and ⌠and something else before that expression melts away and heâs focusing on the computer screen that you tilted towards him. the crease between his brows only grows as his eyes flit down the list of ingredients.
âwe donât have the half of these ingredients,â he worries.
âno,â you admit, âbut thereâs a witch in town whoâs away from home who might.â
to get there, sam doesnât hesitate to steal a car from the motel parking lot, and this time you canât even argue given the fact that youâre pretty sure you have less than two hours to live at this point. you promised sam youâd tell him if it got worse, but as it does, you want to say something less and less.
sam picks the lock of the door, entering the house carefully with you right behind. weapons drawn, you walk the route that dean gave you to the hidden room, the door in the wall of the hallway left open for you by dean.
itâs much darker than the rest of the house from the lack of windows and bright lights. this, paired with the eerie assortment of basic herbs to what might be jars of blood, makes it look like natalie really leaned into the witchy aesthetic, which youâd find understandable if she werenât using her magic to kill people.
sam walks faster than you know is wise to match paces with, so you follow behind him slowly as he rushes to set the computer with the list of ingredients on the table in the center of the room abd begin the spell. youâre a split second too late to shout in warning when you see a figure emerge from behind a shelf of herbs.
sam whirls around at your cry, gun raised, only to be hit on the side of the head, hard, by a wooden bat in natalieâs hand. he crumples to the ground despite his size, and without batting an eye, your knife is flying through the air, straight for the spot between natalieâs shoulder blades. but at the last second, she spins around, and with a flick of her hand, the knife falls to the ground. you reach for your gun, but through your hindered breathing, youâre slow. she has no trouble launching the bat at you at an unnatural speed. the wood slams into your chest, sending you sprawling and gasping in your weakened state. youâre fighting for breath so hard that you can barely register her hauling you up and tying your hands behind your back, then doing the same to sam. somehow, sheâs able to get his weight on a chair and tie him to the wobbly piece of furniture. then, itâs your turn, and by the time you come back to your senses, breathing far more labored than before, youâre tied to a chair, back to back with sam.
natalie gives you a horrid smile as she tugs at a knot to tighten it.
âwell, isnât this fortuitous! such a lovely surprise for you two to visit me,â she chimes, just as you feel sam stirring behind you. his head lolls back, brushing against your own. you completely ignore her in favor of calling his name. a rumbling groan escapes his lips as he stumbles back into consciousness.
âthatâs right!â natalie grins, âitâll be much better with pretty boy awake.â she walks around you, and you hear a smacking sound that you presume to be her hitting his cheeks to wake him further.
âdonât touch him,â you practically growl. it sounds far less intimidating than you hoped in your breathless voice. she laughs and sam lets out an audible huff of air as he wakes.
âthere he is,â natalie grins. ânow iâve got two love birds at my mercy! much better than i could have imagined. you know, i couldnât watch the deaths of the others, so this is far more exciting. i thought iâd have to miss yours, too!â she motions to you. âbut now i get to watch you die, watch pretty boy watch you die, and then kill him, too! lovely isnât it? iâve never had such luck, thank you idiots for bringing it to me.â
âyouâre not killing anyone today,â sam retorts, anger filling his voice. with a bit of an uncomfortable stretch, you twist your fingers around to grab a hold of his. itâs awkward, but you take advantage of her horrible ramblings to keep her distracted and try to guide samâs hands to the tiny blade attached to the seam of your jacket sleeve.
âiâm not?â she laughs, âmmm, you donât really seem like youâre in the position to determine that, pretty boy.â you hate her calling him that. âwell, love will do that to a person. makes you easy targets, blinds you. you two were just too easy, so busy making eyes at each other to pay any proper attention to me.â you conclude sheâs crazy, rambling on about what made her angry enough to kill. youâre sure she caught you making eyes at him, but sheâs crazy talking like heâs visibly in love with you too. immediately catching on to your plan, samâs hands are fumbling around with your jacket sleeve, trying to get the knife unstuck so it can slip down and into your hands.
âitâs so goddamn irritating when people are just so in love with each other. makes me want to hurl,â she complains.
âsounds to me like youâre just jealous your boyfriend didnât treat you like that,â you prod at her weak spot. she whirls on you, grabbing the front of your jacket and yanking you towards her.
âso i killed him. and everything he was supposed to be,â she hisses. âand know iâm going to kill you two pining idiots. you know, you donât have very long,â she feigns sympathy in the condescending tone of her voice. when she slams you back against the chair, it takes your breath away for a frighteningly long time. samâs so worried, calling your name out over and over again as you choke on nothing, that he almost doesnât realize that the movement also helped dislodge the knife and let it fall into your hands. it slices a thin line down your arm, but you couldnât care less as you begin to work on cutting through his bonds.
âoh, shut up, lover boy,â natalie growls, hating the way he says your name with so much care as she stays leaning over you, a sick smile on her face. why the hell is she calling him lover boy? you know thatâs not what you should be so worried about in this moment, but itâs the one thing that you can think about. âiâm busy watching your little lover die! i think youâll look so good crying over them, wonât you?â
when samâs ties snap, he stays in place, holding onto the rope so it doesnât drop to the ground and alert her. he just shimmies the knife from your hand to his and begins working on your own ties. through it all, he pretends to struggle helplessly, cursing at her wildly.
natalie rolls her eyes, then stands straight. âif you donât shut it, iâm going to make you,â she snarls, stalking around to stand in front of sam. in an instant, he brings the knife to the rope binding him to the chair, snapping it and lunging towards her. judging from the choked cry that escapes her throat, samâs already plunged the knife into her neck. you hear him grunt, then the sound of her body hits the floor before heâs turned back to you, quickly freeing you all the way and pulling you to your feet. heâs halfway to the door with his hand gripping yours when you tug back.
âwait⌠sam, wait!â you gasp, and heâs immediately face to face with you, sweet eyes looking you up and down with confusion and worry. âitâs notâ it didnât work. the spell, we need to do the spell.â
âwhat do you mean? thatâs impossible, killing the witch who performed the spell alwaysâ,â he fully takes you in for the first time. your chest is still heaving, your breath rattling, and itâs undeniably getting worse by the minute. âokay, okay. just sit down.â he guides you back to a chair, turning it to face the table so he can keep an eye on you as he works. this time, youâre having a hard time hiding the fear from your eyes, and he reads that loud and clear. he lets you have his strong hands cupping your face for just a moment. âyouâre gonna be fine. iâm gonna fix this.â he says it with such conviction that youâd do anything to believe him. then his warm touch is gone, and youâre again hit with the reality that itâs getting harder and harder to breathe, to get any satisfactory amount of air.
your eyes follow him desperately as he rushes about the area, checking and rechecking the spell as he adds ingredients to a small cup he finds. his movements become more and more panicked by the second as he notices your breathing getting worse, more fluttery and gulping. samâs muttering to himself as he works, too scared to look at your face for too long. unable to find one of the ingredients, he curses loudly as he searches, shoving a whole rack of ingredients to the ground. glass shatters and the metal rack clangs against the ground, the sound echoing throughout the space.
flinching at the sound, you cry out his name, struggling to speak, âyou have⌠you have to.. to calm .. calm down.â
âi canât!â he practically shouts, and you think youâve never seen him this distraught, this helpless before.
âwhy?â is all you can manage between gasps.
âbecause youâre dying! and i canât let you die, i wonât.â heâs still rummaging through ingredients as he speaks. heâs still refusing to look at you.
you want him to say it, the truth, so you repeat the question, âwhy?â you wheeze out, desperate to hear it in case he canât finish the spell on time.
âbecause i love you!â heâs no longer shouting when he says it. his voice is all desperation and helplessness and utter sincerity, said like all he needs in the world is for you to understand that. youâre not sure if the shuddering breath you let out could count as a sigh of relief, but itâs the closest youâll ever get.
you take him in. tears running down his cheeks, lips pursed and eyebrows pinched like heâs holding back from crying out. heâs pretty like that, you think. maybe thatâs a cruel thought, but you love him too much to think otherwise. heâs always pretty; when heâs mad at you, when heâs bleeding, when heâs stitching himself up, when heâs biting his lip in concentration. when he talks about something that makes him excited or when heâs crying. when heâs oblivious of the way you look at him while he sleeps, and when he makes you love him so hard that it hurts worse than anything a monster could do to you.
youâre lightheaded, and taking in so little air that you canât say it back. all you want to do is say it back. you slide out of the chair and onto your hands and knees, shaking so hard you can barely hold yourself up. from the ground, you can hear sam, moving around, letting jars fall and shatter to the ground, crying.
when you collapse to the floor, writhing and gasping for any semblance of air, sam snaps. he canât find the goddamn rosemary, such a simple and common herb, even for a normal kitchen, especially compared to all the other ingredients, but he knows itâs essential for its protection, purification, and healing properties. he canât give up, he canât let you die, but youâre writhing on the ground and crying inbetween gasps and all he wants is to hold you close, brush your tears away and tell you itâll be alright. he barely catches the sound of your voice over the noise of his searching.
âpleaseâŚâ
âwhat? what is it, honey?â he asks through tears, unable to look at you as his eyes scan a new shelf for the basic pine-needle shape of the leaves, maybe even the little purple flowers to help it stand out.
âhold me,â you wheeze, afraid of dying alone on the stone cold floor as you feel your consciousness slipping through your fingertips like the sand of an hourglass. sam feels like heâs had his heart cleaved in two by a blunt ax coated in the worldâs most vile poison.
he chokes on a sob before he can speak again, âi canât. iâm so sorry, baby, i can't. i just need the rosemary, itâs so close, please, baby.â heâs not sure who heâs begging to. you, to stay alive? god, to intervene? himself, to finish the spell on time? anything and anyone who will listen, most likely. you donât have the energy to ask him to hold you again.
that moment of silence is the most horrible of them all, then the door swings open with a bang, letting the bright lights from the rest of the house flood into the dark space. deanâs eyes zero in on you on the floor, grasping helplessly at your throat, and heâs on his knees by your side in a second.
he scoops you up in his arms and to his chest. âhey. hey, hey, hey. itâs okay,â he comforts, his eyes wet because he doesnât know if he believes himself, given your state. âsamâs gonna fix it, darlinâ. youâre gonna be just fine.â heâs holding you too tight to wipe away the tears that helplessly stream down your face and he clings to the fact that your hand is gripping his wrist tight.
âdean, rosemary!â sam barks. dean looks up from you, eyes scanning the mess around you; natalieâs dead body and the blood from her wound seeping slowly over the floor, the shattered glass and clutter of dried herbs along with other magical ingredients. sam realizes dean probably wonât recognize it on his own. âdried bundle, purple flowers, thin leaves,â he instructs as best as he can as he continues his own search. dean feels awful as he lets you fall back to the ground and your weak hands fingers scrape at his arms, but he thinks he sees it, rolled far away and invisible unless youâre crouched to the ground. he scrambles across the floor to grab it and tosses it to sam, who barely manages to catch it with his shaking hands.
sam rips at it with thick, clumsy fingers, crushing the brittle leaves between the pads of his forefinger and thumb into the mixture. heâs silently praying itâs enough as he mixes it in, letting a few drops slosh over the side of the cup in his rush. deanâs back with you, holding you up in a sitting position for sam with a hand smoothing up and down your arm in his best effort of a comforting gesture. he presses a kiss to your temple as sam drops down in front of you. sam uses one large hand to cup the side of your face, and the other to bring the cup to your lips. for a moment, heâs terrified beyond comprehension when the first bit of the liquid he pours into your mouth just dribbles right back out and down your chin.
youâve gone nearly completely still; your eyes are barely open and your breathing so shallow that only dean knows youâre still inhaling because heâs got you so close.
âplease,â sam begs, whispering your name with such conviction, such desperation, that it pulls you away from the claws of unconsciousness just enough to get you to swallow weakly. sam tilts the cup up, just a bit more, and the rim knocks against your bottom teeth as more foul tasting liquid seeps into your mouth. you swallow again, then gag a little when he pours too much for you to handle in your current state. samâs hopeful when half the mixture is down your throat and he tilts the cup for you again, but the liquid falls down your chin this time, and your eyes are closed. youâve gone totally still in deanâs arms.
âno, no, no, wake up. câmon, weâre almost there. you gotta wake up,â sam begs again, more tears spilling onto his cheeks after his hope is stolen away, more cruelly than ever. âplease, please, please, honey. please wake up.â his voice breaks as he calls out your name again, setting the cup on the floor and taking you from dean to pull you into his own arms. dean lets him, swallowing hard and not daring to move an inch as he takes in the sight, maybe just about the most horrible thing heâs seen in his fucked up life. thatâs the second family member heâs had die in his arms, and the first is holding your limp body as he shakes, cries, and begs, beyond distraught as he denies the fact that he couldnât save you. dean curses his life. he wishes it was him, thinks about the fact that heâs always too late to make a difference. heâs ready to sell his soul again, ready to go to hell and back.
youâre dead weight against samâs chest, your clammy forehead and tear-sticky cheeks pressed against the sweaty skin of his neck. he gathers you closer, his hand tugging at your jacket and rubbing up and down your back, begging for you to wake up.
deanâs about to interrupt samâs mourning to tell him heâs gonna look for the nearest crossroads, that all sam needs to do is keep your body safe. then you shudder in samâs arms and heâs calling your name again, far beyond desperate that youâll hear him. he says your name like a prayer, with so much reverence, far more than he could ever muster up for the god he wants to believe in.
you take in a sharp breath, your eyes fly open, and youâre gasping for air, grasping at samâs sturdy arms like youâve almost just drowned. sam just about sobs in relief, comforting you through his own tears, âoh, youâre okay, honey, youâre alright. iâve got you. just breathe, baby, just breathe, that's all you gotta do.â his voice instantly calms you, and you wrap your shaky arms around his neck to show him you understand. heâs got you. he buries his face into your neck, trying not to hold you too tight for fear of restricting your breathing. you feel the wetness of his tears on you, warm and so tired. you donât want him to cry. he loves you.
his hands smooth up and down your back, helping you set a pace to calm down your erratic breathing as you let a fresh wave of tears fall on his hot skin. theyâre tears of relief, most of all. of exhaustion and leftover fear, and oh, glory, tears because he loves you. he said it, and now he canât take it back because you love him far too much for that.
âsammy,â you breathe out. he just holds you tighter. âdonât cry, sam. itâs okay. iâm okay.â you slip your fingers into his hair, your hand so gentle as you run it through his pretty locks. you just want to comfort him, take away all the fear from the last few hours that he's been holding onto, letting pile up and up into an unmanageable, unruly, ugly tower. you suppose him crying so much is him letting the tower topple over, almost as simple as a toddlerâs chubby, innocent hands to a wooden block castle. but it still tugs at your heart, pulls at you so hard because you hate to hear him cry, feel him shake and stiffen up around you, too scared to let you go for even a second. âiâm okay,â you repeat, voice fragile from the whispering brush of deathâs fingers to your palm, but you try to make it strong and confident for him, âyou saved me, sammy, iâm alright. itâs alright. itâs over. you donât need to worry anymore.âÂ
you think he relaxes just a touch at your words, but he doesnât move an inch from his spot on the ground, or say a thing to interrupt the sound of your breathing. all he does is cradle you close, one hand to your back so he can feel it shift when you take in or let out air, and the other splayed from the curve of your neck, up to the base of your head. without moving too much, he presses a long kiss to the ambiguous space above your ear. thatâs not enough, so he tilts his head more to press his lips to the skin of your forehead.
dean hates to break the silent reverence between the two of you, and it means more than the world, the whole goddamn universe or anything else he could ever think of, to see this instead of you dead in samâs arms. you might be the love of samâs life, but that just makes dean all the more protective of you. to dean, youâre family, and you have been for a long time. thatâs why he needs to get the two of you away from here, before anyone finds you and the dead body.
âsam,â dean interrupts, voice somehow both gentle and extra gruff, âwe gotta go.â he knows sam can get you up on his own, but he still places a firm hand on your elbow as the two of you stand. he doesnât want to let his hand fall away from you, but he does anyway. on the way out and to the car, youâre tucked safe into samâs side, and deanâs got his gun in hand, ready to protect the both of you need be.
dean expects it when sam climbs in the backseat with you, just thankful to get away from the damned house and back to the motel. the ride is mostly silent, save the rumble of the engine, and samâs hand stays securely wrapped around yours, itching to pull you even closer. you yawn and sam tugs at your hand, then drops his gaze to his lap when you look at him, offering to let you lie there. you canât resist, because historically, your head in his lap has been heaven, and you figure that this time, after having heard him say âi love you,â itâll be something better than heaven, something undiscovered and infinitely more precious than all the gold and silver in the world. so you drop your head to his thigh, and his hands are immediately on you. youâve got the warmth of his palms on your head and your shoulder. your own hand is on his knee, taking in the feel of his time-worn jeans, and the muscle, sinew, and bone underneath.
you fall asleep, just 10 minutes from the motel, and sam doesnât want to wake you, but you always do anytime he tries to carry you to bed.
he calls your name, all tenderness and sweet as he rubs your shoulder. you stir easily, only having fallen into a light slumber. the sigh you let out when you sit up is soft, and sam thinks itâs cute. then he thinks about the fact that, when you both settle down, he wonât have to hold that thought back. âyouâre cute,â he can say, and make you both a little flustered before pressing a kiss to your lips. until then, heâs getting out of the car with you, only letting his hands stray from you when dean pulls you into a hug, right then and there. he holds you tight, showing you how scared he was too, so you squeeze back with extra care.
âdonât scare us like that again, kiddo. you got it?â he mumbles into the embrace.Â
you nod, âi got it.â he lingers for a moment, then presses a quick kiss to the side of your head before parting and letting sam take over again.
heâs got a hand stuck to your back on the way into the room, all the way to the bed you shared last night. you donât hesitate to peel off your dirty shirt and go to put on a new one, but samâs already holding one out to you. dean disappears into the bathroom, despite not wanting to let you out of his sight.
you tug on the shirt, then collapse into bed, taking sam with you.
âyou stink,â you complain lightheartedly, looking at him with honey-sweet love in your eyes. he wants to joke back, but heâs not quite there yet.
âiâll shower after dean, if you want,â he offers, nothing but sincere. you smile at him, his nose inches from yours.
âbut then youâd have to get up,â you say.
âsure, but if thats what you want,â he repeats. heâd do anything for you, you think.
you shake your head. âthatâs not what i want. i donât want you to go. but i also want to fall asleep in your arms, and it sucks that you smell like blood, sweat, and nasty potions.â
âso what do i do, baby?â he asks, voice light, but you think he really means it. you melt at the pet name.
âhmmm,â you consider, truly not sure. youâre all quick in the shower after years of experience in motel bathrooms, but that still feels like such a long time to be away from him, especially since you should probably shower, too. you decide to suck it up. âyou shower, then me. dean said the water was still hot yesterday, even when he went last.â youâre not sure when your voice dropped to a whisper, but itâs quiet now. he sighs, half disappointed, but knowing itâll be much more comfortable that way.
the second youâre out of the shower and dressed, samâs tugging you back into bed with him and tucking you into his chest. his hold is still protective and a little wary. you want to make him relax, so you wiggle away just a bit to look at his face.
âsam, iâm so hungry,â you complain. he smiles at you, thinking youâre too cute to resist when you whine just a little. and he just loves it when you say his name.
âyouâre gonna make me get up again?â he asks, and you hold back a triumphant grin because his voice has turned pleasantly lighthearted.
âyouâre gonna let me starve?â you tease back.
âfine,â he huffs, âwe can go to the vending machine together.â he really doesnât want to be far from you.
âno,â you protest, dragging out the âoâ just a little. âwe had that earlier. and chips donât count as a meal. poor dean probably hasnât eaten at all today! we deserve a treat,â you argue.
sam canât deny you anything you want in this moment. âwe do,â he agrees, âwhat dâyou want? maybe we can convince dean to pick it up for us.â
you smile. âmmm, thatâs not fair. dean deserves a treat, too. iâll satisfy myself with vending machine food for a few hours, then we can go out to an early dinner.â
âare you sure?â sam asks. you smile more.
âmhmm,â you nod. âi have the excuse to buy a candy bar too now.â
dean, splayed out on his own bed, has likely been listening in on this whole conversation, and graciously chosen not to interrupt. he smiles at you as you exit the room.
with a glance that no oneâs around, sam slips his hand into yours as you make your way to the vending machine down the hall. your heart blooms at the feeling, at the way heâs been looking at you without shame and suddenly you realize you never said it back. sam punches in the number for an excessive amount of snacks, getting all of yours, his, and deanâs favorites, waiting til they all fall down to collect them. he bends over, gathering them all in his big arms and wide pockets and handing a few to you. the crinkling of plastic fills the quiet air as you watch him with a sort of worship and adoration dripping from your eyes. you take in the curve of his back, the peek of his spine that you get from his tshirt riding up a bit, and the pretty brown hair on the back of his head. when he stands, he catches that gaze, and for once you donât hide it away or tuck it into that corner of the drawer where you keep all the little trinkets you donât need, but canât bear to get rid of. because you need this, and you can have this.
âi didnât get to say it back.â your voice comes out hushed, reverent.
âsay what?â he asks, matching his voice to yours without even trying. you take in all the subtle ways that his face changes, as he thinks about what you could mean. the left side of his mouth quirks down, just a bit, and his eyebrows pinch together. itâs not quite the expression he makes then heâs worried or upset, just thinking.
âi love you, too.â when those words finally escape, finally make themselves known and heard, everything is different. itâs like youâve never really breathed before this, because the simplest of things, like an inhale that fills your lungs with stale motel air, is so good, so satisfying, so much better when he looks at you like that. âfor as long as i can remember, sam, i love you. when we were kids at bobbyâs, seventeen and getting soaked in the rain, every moment before then and every moment after, andââ
his lips are on yours and thereâs a messy ruckus of plastic wrapped snacks being dropped to the floor, because he couldnât care about anything except kissing you. his warm, rough hands are so gentle cupping your cheeks and pulling you into him, and you follow suit in disregarding the food in your hands to place them firm on his waist, almost squeezing his sides because you need this to be as real and as solid as it possibly can be.
some might question the merit of this being your first kiss with each other. but itâs so you and sam, standing in an empty motel hallway next to the vending machine and itâs crappy food scattered around your feet. plastic crinkling and rustling when you get closer, and a hunger so insatiable that it makes it hard to breathe.
when you finally break away, panting just a bit, samâs eyes swim with concern as his mind flashes back to you just an hour ago.
âiâm okay,â you interrupt his paranoid thoughts and loop your arms around his neck, âiâm okay, sam. âs just you. baby, i know this is a horrible time to say this, but you always take my breath away, in the best way. youâre so pretty, and iâm so in love with you that when i look at you for too long, i forget to breathe, andââ
his lips are back on yours, telling you me too, me too, me too. saying as they push and mold against yours, you take my breath away and i love you for it.

The protoframes, huh?
i wanted to go a bit into what each member of the Hex (yay, new syndicate!!) had to say when you got into proximity of them in the relay. thereâs honestly a lot here to set the scene not only for 1999 itself, but introducing each protoframe as well as sort of hinting at their interpersonal relationships, and how they interact with one another! some of my favorite kinda of lore is specifically character development and personality-focused dynamics like this so here!!!! i walked back and forth for an hour for YOU! here is all proximity dialogue for each character in the HĂśllvania Mall relay:
ARTHUR:
âQuestion. Could I take Quincy down if he turned on me?â
âWeâll find you, Doctor. Thatâs a promise.â
âStop sniffing around my head, Eleanor. If I want to talk, Iâll talk.â
âWe need to keep Lettie on her feet. If she goes we all go.â
âDunno why we even bothered with that cleaning rota.â
âYeah, we can hold this place.â
âOne day, Aoi. No more roadblocks and checkpoints. Just you and me and the bikes, open road for miles, all this bullshit far away. I swear to Sol.â
âStill too open. We need more chokepoints.â
âBottled water. Like sodding gold dust.â
âWell Amirâs still alive. Thatâs a win.â
LETICIA:
âI got nothinâ to prove to you, Quincy! Go play your little games, niĂąo.â
âÂżQuĂŠ onda? The Lady Eleanor ainât no more freaky than the last time you checked in. âLess you know different?â
âYo, Aoi. Chill, hermana. Do something for yourself, for once. Arthur ainât going to blow away if you blink.â
âThe boss says care for his sister I care for his sister. As long as you still are his sister⌠and as long as I feel like listening to him.â
âBeing loved and being hurt? Yeah, I make no distinction. I knew someone, once, wired the same way. Kept me sane. And what of it? Te crees muy acĂĄ Âżno? Get outta my head, Eleanor.â
âNever signed up for this. Iâll be home MamĂĄ. Your little girl doesnât end here. No te preocupes.â
âMan, Iâve been awake so long that even the spiders in my head have all gone to sleep.â
âWacha: unless youâre pissing blood right this second, whatever it is can wait.â
âI swear, should lock Aoi and Amir in a cuna. Didnât sign up for no babysitting gig.â
AOI:
âI donât wanna go on patrol. I wanna take stuff apart.â
âNearly time for the On-lyne boys.â
âMetal, metal, metal, what do you want to be?â
âYep. I can live like this.â
âArthur needs to keep some fuel in the tank for himself. Goddamn savior complex that man hasâŚâ
âI oughta get some headphones. Then I wouldnât have to hear Quincy work off all that surplus testosterone!â
âIf they take Entrati out, whoâs going to look after that mutant jaguar of his? Poor thing wonât last five minutes in the wild.â
âAmir! Remember to hydrate!â
âDear past self: we finally got those super powers we always wanted. Whaddayaknow.â
âGodDAMN. Lettie would you keep your frickinâ rats OUT of my SPACE?â
QUINCY:
âDonât look up, Doctor.â
âArthur needs to leave the Major to me, innit. Respect my methods.â
âDonât mind the waiting. Plenty to be thinking about.â
âYou donât know me. Never see what darkens your rooftops. Inevitable, like the rain. Handing out consolations in a transient connection. Boom. Smoke. And ghost.â
âYou wiv me, Eleanor? How deep in you go? See anythinâ you fancy, girl?â
âAmir is a weak, weak boy. Like Aunty said, âduppy know who fi frighten.ââ
âThassit⌠nice and steady.â
âHow many man have the opps got? Not enough tâbe takinâ me. Never.â
âOi, Lettie! Grab yâ strap and letâs go. Best a five buys the drinks?â
ELEANOR:
âDonât expect me to tell you what Iâve seen in Amirâs head. Heâs not a beautiful, broken marionette, and heâs nobodyâs project. Heâs one of us.â
âQuincy thinks heâs going to wake up one night to me chewing the flesh from his ribs. Maybe heâs right.â
âI know youâre there. I can feel you. Itâs okay, I wonât tell the others.â
âAoi? Sheâs lovely and kind and strong, and⌠I kind of hate her a little bit. Because it should have been her spreading her happiness into everyoneâs heads, and me throwing cars and trucks around.â
âI thought there were going to be two of you! Whereâs the other one?â
âBlood. Thereâs gonna be a fight. Something⌠bursting. Crossed swords. Arthur!â
âWhat on earth is a âMara Lohkâ?â

@wolfstarmicrofic | May prompt #22: locked in a room | word count: 806
âYou look silly like that.â
Sirius, with Jamesâs invisibility cloak pulled up to his neck, was just a floating head bobbing next to Remus, following him around like a puppy on his prefect rounds.
Sirius winked and pinched Remusâs cheek. âWell, Iâm out past curfew. Wouldnât want to be caught.â
Remus blushed. Potent satisfaction swelled in Siriusâs chest.
Yet with only a week left until the end of their sixth year, he was tired of playing this game. Remus was never going to make the first move, which left the life altering decision on whether their friendship could survive love â requited or not, forever or not â up to Sirius.
âStupid,â Remus mumbled, smiling.
Sirius pulled the cloak over his head and completely disappeared.
âSirius. Stop it.â
Sirius giggled.
Remus stretched his arms out, trying to snatch the cloak. âSirius, câmon, where are you? You know what, whatever.â
Still hidden and following several long paces behind, Sirius let Remus walk all the way up to the seventh floor. âMoooooony,â heâd call every few minutes in a hollow voice, like a ghost. âOh Moooooony.â
âFuck oooooffffff,â Remus would sing back.
He acted annoyed, but Sirius saw the smile on Remusâs face. It was starting to feel dangerous being alone with him. Many a daydream involved this very scenario, with Sirius pulling Remus under the cloak, unseen, kissing him hot and fast until they were out of breath.
Sirius contemplated. His own thoughts made his face warm and zipped an energy through him he didnât know what to do with, so he took off running. He didnât try to hide the sound his pounding footsteps made.
âSirius? AAHHHHG!â
Sirius tackled Remus around the middle, cloak slipping off his shoulder, knocking the wind out of them both. âGotcha, Moons!â
Remus grabbed his shoulder and tried to pry him off. To Siriusâs surprise, he also pulled out his wand.
Sirius cackled. âGonna hex me, Moony?â
âThinking about it,â Remus exhaled, but pocketed it quickly. âYou drive me nuts.â
âTell me about it.â No, really, please tell me about it.
Arms still wrapped around Remusâs middle, their faces a breath away, Sirius could feel his heart beat incessantly in his temples, his longing almost giving him a headache. It would be so easy to kiss him right now.
âThatâs odd.â Remus pulled away and Sirius let him.
âWhat?â
âThe room of requirement just appeared.â
An intricately carved door, which was not there a moment ago, had nestled its way between two sleeping portraits.
Remus pulled the map from his pocket. Studying it, his eyebrows pinched together. âNo one is around,â he said, looking up again and peeking down both ends of the hall. He turned back to Sirius. âDid you need something?â
âNo,â Sirius lied. He was very certain he knew why the door had appeared.
âI wonder whatâs insideâŚâ Remus trailed.
Sirius very pointedly did not indulge him.
âDonât you wonder?â Remus asked him, his annoyance turning playful. âLetâs go inside.â Remus held the door open for Sirius, and they both stepped across the threshold.
It was simply a broom closet. Cramped, dark, dusty.
âWell, this is stupid,â Remus mumbled. âPerhaps someoneâs jinxed it?â
Sirius doubted it. âMaybe.â
âLetâs go then.â Remus reached for the door, but it was gone, as if it had never been there at all. He palmed the wall in a panic.
Sirius groaned and tipped his head back.
âItâs gone,â Remus breathed. âThe door is gone.â
âIt will come back,â Sirius calmed him.
âItâs jinxed,â Remus said to himself. âItâs a prank. Oh Merlin, is this what James was trying to tell us he was working on? Iâm going to ââ
âMoony. Moony.â Sirius grabbed Remusâs chin to turn his face towards him. They both stopped breathing. âItâs not jinxed.â
âHow do you know?â
âBecause I summoned the room,â Sirius grimaced. âOn accident, but I think I did. And now it wonât let us out until I get what I asked it for.â
Remusâs eyes bounced across Siriusâs face. His stare lingered on his lips. âWhat did you ask it for?â
Siriusâs heart ambled up his throat until he was choking on its pulse. His grip, still on Remusâs chin, slid up to cradle his face. Sirius smoothed his thumb across Remusâs cheek, who leaned the weight of his head into Siriusâs hold. Fuck, why was this so easy and yet so hard?
âThe courage to do this,â Sirius whispered, guiding Remus down to kiss him. Soft, slow, scared. When their lips met, his stomach flipped and his knees mightâve buckled.
Sirius felt Remus sigh in relief across his cheek. He threw his arms around his shoulders and felt himself be tugged in by the middle.
When they broke apart, amazed and grinning and on the verge of disbelieving laughter, the door was back.

note: Was in the halloween mood and had a craving to write witch reader. Also I apologize for being MIA for a hot minute school has been kicking my ass
In the dimly lit and clandestine lair, you stood amidst a chaotic array of potion bottles, spell books, and mystical artifacts. The air was thick with the scent of arcane ingredients, and the room was bathed in an eerie, pulsating glow emanating from enchanted crystals scattered about. Rows of tall, ancient shelves were lined with tomes containing secrets of the mystical arts.
Your eyes fixated on the ominous pages of the Darkhold stood at the center of the lair, your brows furrowed in concentration. The book seemed to emit an unsettling energy, its dark runes shifting and writhing like a sentient being. Your hands cradled glowing orbs of blue magic, feeling a tingling sensation of power coursing through them.
Your mind crackled with a frenzied electric charge. The relentless grip of sleep deprivation fuels your obsession. The effects of prolonged wakefulness gnawed at your sanity, leaving your thoughts frayed and disjointed. Muscles twitch uncontrollably as if charged by lightning flashing within your wide, bloodshot eyes. Your voice, barely a murmur, subconsciously reciting spells and rituals from the book's ancient pages, the words stumbling from your lips in a fevered trance.
Everything around you seemed louder and more intense than usual as if your senses were on overdrive. It was like your body was a sponge soaking up all the noise and energy in the room.
As you delved deeper into the forbidden knowledge within the Darkhold, a sudden disturbance rippled through the room. The sound of crackling energy filled the air, and a portal of swirling scarlet light materialized before You, Startled, you turned to face the unexpected intrusion.
Emerging from the portal, with a sultry and determined expression, was Wanda Maximoff. Her dark eyes locked onto yours, and she stepped forward with an air of confidence. Despite the anger that still simmered within you, Wanda's presence sent a shiver down their spine.
It felt like seeing a ghost
In the not-so-distant past, you and Wanda Maximoff had been deeply entwined in a passionate and tumultuous love affair Your connection was built on an understanding of each other's innermost desires.
You, a gifted witch in your own right, had always admired Wanda's incredible power. Your initial meeting had been marked by sparks, both figurative and literal, as you recognized kindred spirits in each other. You spent countless nights together, honing your magical skills, exploring the boundaries of your abilities, and indulging in the fiery lust filled passions that burned between you.
But as your love deepened, so did the complexity of your relationship.Wanda's insatiable thirst for power often put her on a dangerous path, seeking forbidden knowledge that few could comprehend. It was during one of her quests for dark magic that everything changed. In a moment of desperation, Wanda cast a spell that trapped you in a false realityâa twisted version of suburban life in Westview. In this artificial world, you lived a mundane existence, blissfully unaware of the magic and powers you once wielded. Your memories were altered, your true identity erased, and Wanda had complete control over your life
For you, it was a nightmare and a dream come true. You oscillated between feelings of betrayal and intense longing. The life she had created for you two was everything you could have ever dreamed of, filled with the perfect haven of your loving family
When the Westview Hex was eventually broken, and you regained your true identity and memories, the rush of emotions was overwhelming. You confronted Wanda, your anger, burned but the love you once shared still lingered beneath the surface. It was a complex and conflicted love, one that was impossible erase
Wanda, haunted by her actions and desperate to atone for her mistakes, fled to find the Darkholdâa powerful and dangerous book of magic that held the key to her quest for the power she would need to reclaim the life that was harshly taken from her.
In an attempt to divert Wanda until they built up the necessary forces to defeat her, Doctor Strange, aware of the dangers that the Darkhold posed, entrusted it to you for safekeeping, knowing that you were one of the few who could resist its seductive pull
At the sight of her, you immediately conjured the dark hold shut, the glowing hues of blue dimmed around you as you lowered yourself to the ground, standing before her.
"Y/n," Wanda purred, stepping out of the portal her voice husky and laced with desire.
Before she could get too close, you crossed your arms in front of your body and threw them outwards. A tendril of blue magic wrapped around her arms and legs, effectively freezing her movements. "What the hell do you think you're doing here?" you demanded, your tone filled with anger.
Wanda smirked, Seemingly amused by your reaction. She could have easily overpowered you, but she wanted you to have your fun. She didn't want to scare you. Not yet, at least.
"Oh, Y/n," she grinned, her eyes never leaving yours. "How I've missed your fiery spirit.â
âYou shouldn't be here.â
Wanda's expression grew more serious as she struggled against your magical bonds. "I need the Darkhold, Y/n. It's the only way to undo the chaos I've caused."
Your grip on the magical restraints tightened, and you shot back, "Save your breath, Wanda. Me and you both know you have no intentions of doing thatâ
Wanda's eyes flashed with a hint of frustration âYouâre always so stubbornâ
The room crackled with tension as the truth hung in the air. Both of you were harboring secrets, aware of each other's desires and motives
You stepped closer to her your fingers twisting in the air to hold the restraint âI won't ask again, why are you here.â
âI needed to see youâ she confessed, her voice husky, her gaze never wavering from yours.
You broke out into a sarcastic smile, your tongue pressing against the inside of your cheek as you shook your head in disbelief. The madness that swirled between you and Wanda had reached a fever pitch, and it was clear that this reunion would only further entangle you both in the web of chaos that defined your complex relationship.
âYou didn't seem so eager to see me when you left me in Westviewâ Your voice came out sharper then you intended. obviously still hurt from her actions. The way she had left you was awful. Alone, surrounded by ring of flashing red and blue lights that demanded answers to questions you couldnt even comprehend
Wanda let out an exasperated sigh a sense of guilt building up inside her âI had no other choice y/n. Strange was after me and You would have never gone with meâ
The soft flicker of candlelight casted an eerie, shadow on Wanda's face, accentuating the mysterious allure that always seemed to surround her. Her eyes, partially obscured by the dim light, bore into you with a mix of longing and lust. You couldn't help but notice how her figure looked in the low light â the subtle rise and fall of her chest, the seductive curve of her lips as they formed that infuriating smirk. The undeniable attraction that pulsed between you two was like a magnetic force, drawing you together. It was a desire that both thrilled and repulsed you.
âBecause you trapped me, you stole my life!â you echoed with a sardonic laugh, your voice tinged with a hint of hysteria. the memories of your past experiences with Wanda had driven you into a state of rage and paranoia, endless days and night spent waiting for her return
âIt was the only way to protect you,â she argued back, her conviction unwavering, convinced that she had done what was necessary to shield you from the dangers of the outside world.
Your eye twitched with rage as you denied her allegations vehemently. "You're delusional Wanda, You just wanted to control me.â
Her head dropped to the floor, and her shoulders shook as she let out a menacing chuckle. When her eyes returned to you, they were three times darker, and the room itself seemed to respond to her shifting presence as if the shadows deepened around her
"When will you understand," she whispered, her voice now dripping with an eerie, otherworldly resonance that sent shivers down your spine. It was as if she had tapped into something primal and ancient, a power beyond comprehension.
"I would kill for you, Y/n," her words took on an ominous weight, the air growing heavy with her declaration. "I would rip myself to pieces if it meant keeping you safe," she continued, her breathing growing heavier, each word laced with an intensity that seemed to vibrate through the very walls of the room
Her grin widened, taking on an unsettling edge as if she could see right through you, right into the depths of your soul. The intensity of her gaze was suffocating, and it terrified you to your core.
"And you fucking love that," she hissed, her eyes glinting with a manic fervor that sent a shiver down your spine. âIt excites you.â
"Shut up!" You couldn't contain your frustration any longer. With a surge of power, a flash of brilliant blue lit up the room as the magical restraints around Wanda tightened. She gritted her teeth, and a prominent vein bulged on her neck, her struggle against the sudden and intense pressure evident in her clenched jaw and furrowed brow.
"Well, someone has certainly been doing their homework," a deranged expression of pain and excitement glowed on her face. "I wasn't sure how far along you had gotten in the Darkhold, but my god..."
"Oh, for the love of God," you muttered through clenched teeth, your jaw tightening in frustration. as you struggled to maintain your composure in the face of her unsettling revelations. "What kind of deluded fantasies have you come up with now?"
The room seemed to hum with tension, The past and the present collided, and the lines between reality and the pull of the Darkhold blurred your thoughts into a red haze.
"I can feel it. The darkness you've been studying. It's consuming you, just like it did me." The switch in her tone made your blood run cold. Her eyes locked onto yours, searching for a reaction "I've been watching you, Y/n."
For months, Wanda had been studying you, watching you from the shadows, watching your obsession grow with every passing day. She had guided you, manipulated events, all with the intent of drawing you into the same darkness that had overtaken her. But she had to be patient, allowing you to come to it on your own, letting the seductive pull of corruption work its magic until you were entangled in its irresistible web.
âYou weren't supposed to read the darkhold, you were only supposed to watch over itâ Her voice dripped with a sultry and unhinged desire as she taunted you. âYouâre no better than me.â
The consuming darkness of the situation weighed heavily on your shoulders, as you recalled the ghastly events of the past few months. At first, you only started studying the Darkhold for research purposes, perhaps trying to understand Wanda, to fathom why she did the things she did. And yet, in the depths of your mind, the Darkhold's whispers grew louder, its promises of untold power and the allure of the forbidden knowledge beginning to take hold. The more you studied it, the more it consumed your thoughts, leaving you with an insatiable hunger for its secrets.
While you were lost in the sea of memories, a beam of red magic shot past the corner of your eye, and before you knew it, you were sent tumbling back to your feet.
You stumbled backward, Adrenaline beginning to course through your veins. Wanda advanced on you with an unsettling mixture of hunger and madness. She threw her head back, and a loud cackle echoed in the room. "Isn't it exhilarating! The power, the temptation. It's irresistible!"
As Wanda closed in on you, you couldn't deny the odd thrill that surged through you. Her presence was overwhelming and a part of you couldn't help but be endlessley drawn to her.
âYou're sick.â you spat out, backing away until your back hit your desk. âYouâre fucking sick!â
âSick with love,â she returned with a hint of seductive playfulness
You turned away from her, your hands anchored to the edge of your desk, your shoulders rising to your ears as you tried to fathom how you ended up here, in this twisted dance with the woman who was once the center of your world. The woman who you spent months missing, nights filled with aching longing and days spent wondering where she was, if she was dead or alive.
âDont you remember our life togetherâ Her tone was soft and convincing âHow nice it wasâ
She came up behind you, her arms wrapping around you, and she smiled when she didn't feel you push them away.
Painful flashes of your memories in Westview flooded into your mind. You remembered your two boys, whom you were equally bonded to. You remembered the endless movie nights and family dinners, waking up and falling asleep next to Wanda every day had become a feeling you grew accustomed to. Those memories were a bittersweet reminder of the life you had shared before everything went awry, and they added to the torment of your current situation.
You remembered how safe and loved you had felt. But it wasn't real. None of it was real. You had told yourself that countless timesânights when everything was too quiet, and the familiar suffocating feeling of loneliness threatened to consume you. You ached to be back in Westview, with your family. But most of all, you yearned to be with Wanda. the memories of what you had shared weighed heavily on your heart.
âI know who you are Y/N,â You could feel her breath against your neck as her hands rubbed mindless patterns down your stomach. âI know what you craveâ
A surge of anger suddenly lit up inside you, furious about how she made you feel. Angry that you had spent months alone, going insane with paranoia and the uncertainty of where she was in the world, Angry that she imprisoned you, controlled you, manipulated you. And you liked it. You loved the fire between you, the intense and deranged connection that bound you together. After all of that, she remained the one person who understood you best, the one who endlessly craved and longed for you.
You suddenly spun around and gripped onto the leather edge of her suit dragging her down until her lips roughly met yours.
Wanda's response was immediate, her hunger for you matching your own. Her arms enveloped you, pulling you up until your legs wrapped around her. Her strides were long across the room trying to find the closest surface to hold you up against.
She pressed you against the oak of your bookcase, and you let out a whimper against her lips when you felt the painful bite of your spell book spines digging into your back.
Wanda took attention to this and used her magic to smoothly fuse through the bookcase and into the privacy of your bedroom. Her determination to be with you becoming increasingly evident. She tossed you onto the bed and crawled over you, reconnecting your lips into a searing kiss.
Her tongue wrestled with yours untill you were moaning into each other's mouths. With one hand holding herself up the other slid up and down your thigh, Warm and possessive. With an expert touch, Her lips moved down to your neck, where she immediately began nipping at that spot she knew you loved so much.
Your breaths were starting to become uneven and you through an arm over her neck, Wanting to be closer to her. You felt Wanda smile into your skin, reveling in your neediness
She conjured away the rest of your clothes, leaving you fully exposed infront of her longing gaze. Your body shivered when the textured leather of Wandas suit rubbed up against you, sending a jolt of electricity through you.
Lowering herself down, she pressed her lips to one of your erect nipples, envelopong it in a sensual kiss. Her mouth then tenderly sucked on the sensitive bud while her fingers skillfuklly squeezed and pinched the other. She glanced up at you, her eyes filled with satisfaction as she took in the sight of your blissful expression, eyes squeezed shut and your mouth slightly parted, completely lost in the pleasure she was giving you.
âI want to taste youâ she mumbled against your skin, Descending down the mattress, leaving a trail of kisses and bites down your stomach. She kneeled in front of the bed and roughly pulled your legs until they were hanging off.
You could feel her breath on your pussy as she kissed everywhere, purposefully missing the one place you needed it the most.
She gently slide a finger into your hole and let out a low groan when she felt your wet walls immediately suck her in further.
âStill so responsive... you really are mine, arenât you baby?â she mumbled in between kisses to your thighs, when you didn't respond she nipped at your skin.
âI will never be yours againâ your breathed out, your chest rising and falling with every breath you took in
Something twisted inside Wanda at your words and a dark expression overcame her features as her grip on your thighs involuntarily tightened.
âWell see how you feel after this, pretty girlâ
The pet's name is spat out like a curse. But you don't miss the way her tongue rolls over the words like she meant it. Like she actually thinks you are pretty. And so, despite the situation your cheeks burn red, and your heart hammers in your chest.
You didnât get a chance to respond before you felt her roughly slide two fingers into your dripping hole, immediately curling and hitting your sweet spot. A satisfied grin formed on Wanda's face as she watched your head fall back in pleasure.
Unable to wait any longer She dropped her head and replaced her fingers with her tongue, moaning at the taste of you. You glanced down and felt your pussy clench at the erotic sight of Wanda stuffed between your legs.
She opened her mouth wide and immersed her tongue as deep as it could go. Swirling and twisting in all the right places. It had been so long, Too long since she had gotten to taste her girl, the urgency and desperation became evident when she started lapping at you like a ravenous creature.
A sharp hiss escaped your lips as the metal points of her crown pressed into the tender flesh of your thighs. You instinctively squirmed and writhed in an attempt to escape the painful sensation
She only tightened her hold on your thighs keeping them secured to her shoulders âStay still," she commanded, her voice dripping with desire. "I'm not done yet.â
Your response was reduced to a mere whimper as an overwhelming sensation engulfed you. All of your nerves felt like they were on fire. You couldn't even form a coherent sentence. It all felt too good.
You felt your orgasm build embarrassingly fast, the tight coil in your stomach winding even tighter. It had been an eternity since someone had touched you this expertlyâno one living up to the lofty standards Wanda had set.
Her tongue dipped into you and then dragged along your slit until it reached your clit, where she relentlessley started sucking on the hardened bud. Your moans echoed throughout the room As you began to mindlessly grind up into her mouth.
Every roll of your hips sent the sharp material of the crown deeper into your skin. Your mind began to feel fuzzy as it fell into a haze of overwhelming pleasure. Wanda was drunk off the sight of you right now. Fucked-out and completely at her mercy. Her chin was coated in your slick as she shamelessly devoured you.
Her eyes were glued onto your body, taking in the sight of your head thrown back in pleasure, your limbs squirming under her, watching you struggle to fight of your orgasm only encouraged her to go faster.
She pressed her face further into your core. A crimson streak of blood trickled down your thighs and onto her crown. Mingling with your arousal.
âCum for me baby,â she commanded with a throaty groan, her fingers digging into your thighs. âshow me that youâre mineâ
You let out a loud moan and your hands flew to the sides of her head, Tangling into the mess of frayed red hair, Wanda's own moans harmonized with vibrations coursing through you, heightening the intensity of your orgasm.
Your hips slowed their pace as the waves of pleasure subsided, leaving your body pulsating with the aftermath of your climax. Breathing heavily, you propped yourself up on your elbows, your eyes fixated on Wanda who was undeniably captivated by the streams of blood tracing their way down your thigh.
A sinister smirk curved your lips as you taunted âYou twisted bitch, you love it when I bleed for youâ
Wanda responded with a chilling expression. Without breaking eye contact, She re-wrapped her arm around you. Her fingers possessively digging into your skin. She dragged her tongue over the cut, savoring the metallic taste
Your eyes fluttered shut, The gentle warmth of Wanda's tongue soothed the irritated burn, providing a small measure of comfort. As she rose from between your legs her hand found your throat, gripping it with a firm hold that demanded your attention.
Your eyes reluctantly reopened to meet Wanda's intense gaze. Her lips captured yours in a demanding kiss, and the lingering taste of blood mixed with your arousal coated your taste buds. It was a heady mixture that left you feeling undeniably dirty yet strangely exhilarated.
âYou belong to me,â she whispered against your lips, her hand still wrapped around your throat. âYou are mine to touch, to pleasure, to mark. Don't you ever forget that.â
You smiled and bit your lip, amused by her sudden possessiveness. Using her magic, she removed the rest of her clothes and waved her hand in front of her hips until a long scarlet dildo attached to a black harness reappeared.
You bit into your lip harder as recognition washed over you. It was your favorite toy, the one that allowed Wanda to intimately feel every inch of your throbbing pussy. You felt yourself clench, Anticipation coursing through your veins.
Still hovering over you, She held the base of the strap and dragged the tip along your slit a low groan emitting from both of your mouths at the contact. You began to grow impatient, arching yourself up as you watched her tease herself.
She finally pushed herself into you, and an unrestrained moan escaped her parted lips as she savored the exquisite sensation of your snug, velvety walls enveloping her. She stilled herself for a moment, allowing you to gradually adjust to the fullness.
âI missed your pussy so muchâ she groaned out, coming down to press her chest against yours as her hips began to rock into you. The toy curves up and and slides against your insides in the most perfect way, sheâs nearly halfway in and you clamp down on her.
âFuck, you're squeezing me so good.â Wanda leans closer to you, inhaling your scent as one of her hands grips your thigh. She pulls the toy out until just the tip remains inside before roughly snaping her hips forward. You loudly moaned into her ear, digging your nails into her back.
âHarderâ you whined, wrapping your legs around her waist and pressing your heels into her back, edging her in deeper. âPlease, wandaâ
She grinned and started pounding into you harder. Pushing her cock in as deep as it could go. âI knew you were still my slut.â
You could only respond with a breathless call of her name. She further pushes your body into the mattress making you feel even smaller as her strap rams into your pussy. you grip onto her tighter and your moans float all throughout the room, they bounce around the walls and come slamming back into your own ears.
âYeah, you like being called what you are? Because you're my slut. Mineâ Her movements are becoming erratic. The mattress squeaks under you and your headboard slams into the wall with every forceful thrust of her hips. âim never letting you slip away again.â
Your hands claw deep red streaks across her back that move with every flex of her muscles. Her hand grip your ass, grinding you onto her cock as her thrusts begin to lose their rhythem.
She thrusts at an angle that has you seeing white light. Your whole body shook as your orgasm crashed over you. Every nerve was sent into overdrive, no feeling could ever compare to this. Being under Wanda, your limbs tightly bound to her as you fell apart on her cock. It all felt so right
âFuck, oh fuck, You're gonna make me cumâ she grunted, shoving her face into your neck. As she chased her high, tortured with the need to release into your wet heat âGonna fill this pussy up so good-Fuck!â
Her hips roll into you until she is fully submerged in your pussy. Loud moans and whines fill your ears as you feel thick ropes of her cum paint your insides, filling you to the brim until it splatters on the insides of your thighs. Her hips are still fucking into you and your cunt wraps around her cock pulling her in further.
After she rides out the last bits of her high, her body collapses onto you, pressing you into the mattress. You feel her shaky sighs against your neck, and her body slowly relaxes as you soothingly run your hands through her hair. Just when you think she might have fallen asleep, she abruptly leans up to look down at you.
âYou're a fucking nightmare.â you breathlessly whisper
She responds by kissing your lips, her love and obsession intermingling in that stolen moment. You can't help but return the kiss with the same feverish fervor, wrapping your arms around her neck and arching into her.
This new side of you excited wanda to exhilarating heights. Even in the early stages of your relationship, you had always embraced your darker nature, and it was one of the things that had initially drawn her to you, but this newfound level of intensity made her pulse with excitement about your future together, the things you'd do together, the things you'd learn, all the things she would teach you.
You were just so perfect for her, you had always been, and In your bones, you knew you could never be without wanda, it was as if the two of you were eternally connected at your very core.
A smile stretched across your face as she gazed into your eyes. It was clear that your journey into the depths of darkness was far from over.

take my breath away â sam winchester

summary :Â because of an unexpected witchâs curse, itâs almost too late for you and sam to confess your feelings to each other.
you see sam when it rains. even if heâs sitting right in front of you, youâll look out the car window and at the rivulets of water rushing down the glass, distorting the image of an empty highway and summer-time trees at dusk, and youâll see him at seventeen with rain in his hair and running down his cheeks. youâll think of that smile he gave you as he took your hand and how that look he had in his eyes haunts you worse than any ghost youâve seen, because you think it couldâve been love. sometimes, youâll still see glimpses of that sam, but he can be rare. so, you go as far to wonder if maybe he still looks at you like that when your gaze is turned away.Â
once, when the windows were down and he was sitting in the back with you for a change, the spring air was nice and clean as it filtered into the sometimes stuffy car, and you felt his multicolor gaze watching you. the look on his face changed when you locked eyes, but for an imagined moment, it seemed that youâyour eyes closed against the wind and a light smile on your face that, for once, wasnât grimâwere his everything.
you press your temple to the cold glass of the window, hoping itâll sober you up a little from your love-drunk state. itâs so goddamn stupid that youâre even thinking about him like this right now, because heâs still sort of mad at you for something rash you did during your last hunt. only you donât think it was stupid, so youâre half pissed that he wonât let it go. staring at the back of his head and the pretty curled ends of his hair, you sigh quietly. even his shoulders rising up past the seat are handsome. you miss him, and heâs close enough to reach out and touch.
deanâs voice breaks your reverie, and you have to draw in a deep breath. without you even noticing, thinking about sam so hard makes you breathless, almost every time.
âso, why donât you give us the full rundown, sammy? âfore either of you decide to conk out on me,â dean suggests. that means heâs bored, because neither of you will fall asleep for at least another hour or two, and youâll probably take your turn driving for a few soon.
âsure,â sam agrees, and you hear the shuffle of papers as he digs out a newspaper article and some notes. âthree people in the last three weeks all died from suffocation, but with no apparent cause. they just,â samâs shoulders move a little as he motions vaguely with his hands, âstopped breathing.â
âsounds witchy to me,â dean says, very predictably. you think you couldâve said those exact words at the exact same time if you wanted to tease him about it.
âyeah. whatâs weird is that the vics were reported feeling out of breath up to 16 hours before they actually died. says it looks like they slowly died from oxygen deprivation,â sam adds.
âhuh. so not hex bags, but another sort of spell?â you wonder aloud, easily talking about the case despite the remainders of tension between you and sam. thatâs just how it is, with all of you. even when youâre mad, you still work the case.
âmost likely,â sam agrees, âthe vics went about their days pretty much normally until they died, so they were in different places as they were dying. seems like a hex bag wouldnât work unless it was on them the whole time.â you nod, and though heâs not turned around to look at you, youâre sure he knows anyway.
âalright, well. looks like weâve got our work cut out for us,â dean states, âweâll be in town in the morning, so weâll rest up real quick then head to the police station. you two can do your interviewing magic with the vicâs families and hopefully weâll know more by then.â
this was easily predicted as well. for as long as youâve been able to pass as an fbi agent, heâs mostly left interviewing the families to you and sam since the two of you tend to be more socially appropriate, and thus, more able to get information without raising alarms. though, the questions you ask never cease to be weird and confusing to the worldâs oblivious civilians. of course, dean makes exceptions for pretty girls who he can flirt his way into telling him just about anything. this time, you wish dean would make an exception because it kills you that you and sam arenât getting along perfectly right now. you know that youâll work it out soon, probably within the week, but you still hate it.
through the impalaâs windows, you watch the sky turn dark and the moon come out. you drive, then fall asleep to the rumble of the engine for a few hours, and wake to see the sky turn light again. keeping it all to yourself, you revel in the sunrise and the way it turns the sky bright and the clouds cotton candy pink around the edges.Â
you sink into the sight of sam sleeping in front of you, the early morning light kissing his features and shining through his mousy brown hair. if you lean a little to the left, you can soak up the image of his softly closed eyes, the mole by his nose, and the relaxed curve of his lips. you smile to yourself at the way his hair is all messed up on the side of his head thatâs resting against the window until you catch deanâs gaze on you through the rearview mirror. you tear your gaze from both brothers and latch it to the moving countryside out the window. for a while now, youâve figured thereâs no way dean doesnât see that youâre in love with his brother, but despite such, he doesnât say much outside of lightheartedly teasing for the both of you. heâs the only one who knows that sam looks at you just like that when youâre the one whoâs asleep. heâs the one who sees sam turn, trying to be subtle, just to look at the way the moonlight kisses your lips, wishing it was him.
itâs eight in the morning when you pull up to the first motel you see. you wished sam hadnât woken up on his own half an hour ago. that way, you couldâve put your hand on his shoulder, shaken him all soft and gentle like you do just for him, and mumbled, âwake up, sammy. weâre here.â then heâd stir, still sweet-looking from sleep and give you a little smile if heâd managed to dream without nightmares before remembering heâs supposed to still be upset with you.
instead, heâs fully awake when he climbs out of the car and pops your door open like he does every time you canât beat him to it. he doesnât talk about that habit, because he knows you can take care of it yourself. but if itâs so easy for him to do it as you grab your bag, then he thinks thereâs no harm. besides, youâve never told him off for it, so he does that and just about any other little thing he can get away with for you. and much to your chagrin, he still does it all when heâs pissed at you. heâs too good like that, even if you think he should just get over what happened a few days ago.
the three of you are just about wordless as you check in and pile into the room, all tired and without anything of importance to say. when you catch sight of the couch in the room, you sigh in relief. it wouldâve been samâs turn to share the bed, and youâre not sure you could do that this time around. sometimes itâs hard to breathe when heâs right there, so close after youâve spent literal hours in the car just plain old pining over him. so, you find an extra sheet in the closet and steal a pillow from deanâs bed, all but collapsing onto the couch with a morning-time âgoodnight.â
you donât care that your feet hang over the edge unless you curl up or mind the way the springs dig into the flesh of your side, all you want is to welcome quick sleep. youâre lucky, and drift off moments later. you barely have time to think about how glad you are that you wonât have one of your nights where you lay awake, staring at the ceiling as you wonder why you would fall in love with someone you canât have. him and dean are all you have, and no matter how your heart aches to pull sam close, youâd never do anything to jeopordize what you have, here and now. heâs your best friend, thatâs all you can ask for in this life, maybe even more than you should.
waking as you normally do to the sounds of sam and dean moving about the motel room, you sit up, a little groggy. you glance at the clock, and youâve slept for about four hours, just as predicted.
âup ân at âem,â dean says as he walks past you, giving you a playful clap on the back.
âmhmm,â is all you respond with, swinging your legs off the couch and digging through your bag for your pant suit and toothbrush. deanâs already in his, and samâs brushing his teeth in the bathroom, still in his tshirt and jeans from yesterday. you donât even have to say a word for sam to move out of the bathroom as you approach. so he wonât have to wait with a mouth full of tooth-paste and spit for you too long, you change quickly, leaving your clothes on the bathroom floor and opening the door for sam as you begin to brush your own teeth. the two of you maneuver around the cramped space with practiced ease, and when heâs done, he disappears back into the bedroom space without a word. when heâs petty to other people, you think itâs kind of hot. but when he does it to you, it makes you want to ring his neck.Â
âasshole,â you mumble to yourself. itâs a classic tango between the two of you; you want him to just get over it, and he wants you to admit that heâs right, or the other way around. and both of you are far too stubborn to be the one to relent first, so youâll be pissy at each other for a few days until you get bored of it or dean gets too annoyed. all it takes to get past it is you putting your head in his lap after a long day, maybe him resting his head on your shoulder, or the two of you laughing too hard over something together to keep being mad, and maybe just a few mumbled apologies from the both of you. if itâs really big enough for none of those things to work, then you talk about it until things are okay again.
dean drops you off at the first victimâs house, with the promise that the second is close enough to walk to, and the third heâll join you for once heâs done at the coronerâs office.
sam still wonât talk to you as you wait on the front porch of the house after ringing the doorbell. a young woman opens the door, probably around your own age, and you smile at her before flashing your badge.
âhi. iâm agent green. this is my partner, agent smith. weâre looking for natalie goh?â you greet, comfortable and at ease in your ruse.
âthatâs me,â she confirms for you, sounding nice enough. âhow can i help you, agents?â
âwe would just like to ask a few questions about your late boyfriend, henry,â sam explains, âmay we come inside?â
her face falls when he mentions her boyfriend, but she nods her head. âof course, come in.â you follow her to the living room where she motions for you to sit. âlet me grab you something to drink,â she offers, disappearing into the next room before you can refuse. âis lemonade okay? my next door neighbor brought me so much when she heard about henry⌠you know. i canât possibly drink it all.â
you want to say no, not wanting to make her go through the extra effort, but you accept for both you and sam out of sympathy. she sounds like she needs to keep her hands busy to distract herself.Â
she sets the drinks down in front of you, asking as she sits, âwhat, uhm, what is the fbiâs interest in ⌠in henry?â
âweâre investigating a few odd deaths, like your boyfriendâs, in the area,â sam explains, ânow, was there anything unusual the day of or the days leading up to his death?â
âi, um, i donâtâ i donât think so, like what? and, iâm sorry, the police told me he most likely choked on something, how is that strange?â natalie frets. you glance at sam and catch him readjusting his features as a brief look of surprise crosses over his face. it makes sense that thatâs what the police told her, but you hadnât known theyâd said so.
âwell, natalie, the cause of his death wasnât entirely clear, and because a few more people have died similarly since, weâre just being extra thorough,â you do your best to placate her before she starts getting too wary of you and sam. âit really could mean nothing, but itâs important for us to cover all of our bases. so, can you tell us if there was anything out of the ordinary? was he acting strange, or did you notice anything unusual around the house, like maybe cold spots or flickering lights?â
she furrows her eyebrows in confusion, âum, no. no, nothing like that. he was just being him, you know, he was such an amazing boyfriend, he made me breakfast that morning even though he said he was tired. i already told this to the police, but he sounded kind of out of breath when we called. that was the last time i talked to him,â her voice begins to tremble, so you reach out a comforting hand and place it atop hers from across the table. âi had to stay late at work, and when i got home, he was ⌠he was gone. i found him in the kitchen.â a tear slips down her cheek, and she moves her hand away from yours to wipe it off. you shift back in your seat and glance at sam, trying to give him the hint to get moving. but, he keeps his gaze trained elsewhere.
you resist the urge to roll your eyes at him, almost ready to pull the âmay i use your bathroomâ ruse first. itâs almost always sam who does it, and sure enough, he clears his throat to ask.
âwould you mind if i used your restroom?â
âoh, sure,â she says, âthereâs one by the pantry, through the kitchen and to the left.â
he stands, thanking her a bit awkwardly before disappearing through the doorway to the kitchen.
once heâs gone, you turn your attention back to natalie. âi know that this can be a difficult question, but is there anyone that comes to mind who might want to hurt henry?â absentmindedly, you take a sip of the lemonade after speaking. itâs sweet, but not too sugary. you discover that itâs just about perfect, and you canât hold back from continually taking a few sips here and there to fight back the heat of the afternoon.
âoh, goodness, no,â she sounds horrified by that prospect, âhenry was just the kindest. the best boyfriend i could ask for,â she reiterates. âyou think that someoneâ that someoneâŚ?â
âno, no,â you lie, âthere would be signs if someone else hurt him, but like i said, we just need to be completely thorough. iâm sorry to even have to ask. now, if youâre okay with it, could you tell me more about henry?â
âyes, yeah, i can do that,â she sighs in relief. itâs clear she wants to talk about him, and probably how much she misses him. you do your best to pay close attention and keep her focused on you and your questions as sam takes forever âin the bathroom.â nothing she says is very useful, itâs all about how loving and kind and just about perfect he was to her. at first, youâre able to listen without a qualm, but the more she rambles about how much she loved him, and maybe even more so how much he loved her, your mind inevitably wanders to sam. sam and your bothersome, bottomless pit of unrequited love.
you kindly cut natalie off and stand when you hear samâs footsteps approach. âit sounds like henry was a wonderful person. iâm so sorry for your loss.â despite knowing those words donât mean or do much, you still fill them with as much sincerity as you can. sam is at your side again. âwe really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us. weâll get out of your hair now.â
she shows you to the front door out of courtesy, and you give her one last thank you and kind smile before turning your back and heading to the sidewalk, sam just ahead of you. pushing off the ground a little harder for a few steps, you catch up to him and his long strides, unable to resist the urge to let your gaze wander to his face.
âanything?â you ask, hoping heâll look at you too.
ânope,â he shakes his head, âno emf, no hexbags, nothing out of the ordinary.â pursing your lips, you let your gaze fall to the sidewalk ahead of you when he doesnât make eye-contact. âanything on your end?â
ânot really. she just rambled about how in love they were. said there was nothing strange about the day, or him, and that he had no enemies. she made him sound like a complete angel.â without you realizing, your lip curls a little in jealousy.
sam just huffs in response, likely bothered by the lack of information. âletâs hope we can find something about the other two.â
you repeat the ruse at the next two homes, and samâs hopes are dashed, because by the time you, sam, and dean are back at the motel room, just about the only thing of value you bring back is a paper bag of takeout.
spread out in the room, with your respective assortments of food, notes, and computers, you share all the details you can think of to hopefully find a pattern. deanâs on his bed, sam on the couch, and you at the dingy table. the biggest discovery is on deanâs part. according to the coroner, each of the victimâs hearts had inexplicably shrunken and shriveled up. this detail was kept out of the public eye because of how strange it was; it happened after each victim died, as it very clearly did not contribute to the cause of death. that, and the coroner is absolutely stumped by how such a thing could possibly happen.
dean asks if the first two interviews were as fruitless as the last, and you sigh as you explain just how unhelpful theyâd been.
âthe only common threads are that they were young adults, all in a relationship, and all sounded to be just about the perfect partner,â you report. âi mean, maybe the witch is targeting people in loving relationships? jealousy? or maybe they have some sort of secret we couldnât dig up just by interviewing. the people we talked to were obviously biased. the first victimâs girlfriend wouldnât stop talking about how amazing he was, the secondâs sister told us she was the sweetest girlfriend out there, and you heard how the thirdâs husband described them.â
âreally?â dean asks. âi mean, yeah, i heard the last guy, but i ran into the first vicâs girlfriendâs sister at the station. she was doing something for her sister there, and she did not seem too impressed with the guy when i asked about him.â
you raise your eyebrows, about to speak again when sam beats you to it.
âso maybe we are looking for secrets. did she say what she wasnât impressed with?â sam says just about the exact thing you were about to.
dean shrugs. âjusâ said he was sort of a lazy boyfriend. didnât take good enough care of her or show his love all that much.â
âmaybe he was cheating?â you suggest.
âmaybe,â dean repeats. âhowâs this? you can dig into records and see if you can find any dirt on the vics. sam, you can look for a spell that mightâve caused this, and iâll scout out a few local places. the officer i was talking to gave me a few places the vics probably spent time at.â
âsure,â you agree, a teasing edge to your voice, âjust donât get too distracted. we all know by âlocal placesâ you mean bars. no sex unless you solve the case, and if you solve the case, no sex because you have to report back to us.â
âso no sex?â he plays along, acting all offended.
ânope!â you confirm, giving a firm shake of your head.Â
deanâs already on his way out the door as he chimes, âno promises!â
âseriously!â sam calls after him, âwe need info!â he groans and shakes his head when the only response he gets is the shutting of the door. when he doesnât make a snarky comment about dean to you, you clench your jaw.
âsam.â it takes a lot of willpower to sound bothered by him, rather than say his name all sweet.
âmhmm?â heâs purposely keeping his gaze on his computer and his response short.
you roll your eyes, âcâmon, canât you just get over it? itâs not like you havenât done stupider things to get a case done.â
since you insist on arguing about it, he lifts his gaze, looking unimpressed. âdoesnât mean you shouldnât have done it. you almost got dean hurt.â
âand i already apologized for that!â you say indignantly, annoyed that thatâs his argument. he knows full well, better than anyone, that dean can deal with a measly vamp, even if he wasnât expecting it. âitâs not like dean canât handle himself!â
âyou should have at least run the plan by us,â he says. you roll your eyes again.
âit was a spur of the moment decision. unless you wanted me to shout it out, compromise my position, and let every single vamp in that nest know exactly what i was gonna do?â you retort. sam sighs, in the way that you can tell he knows your argument is better than his. so, you still canât figure out why heâs still upset about it, outside of his usual stubbornness.
âit couldâve gone so wrong,â is all he can come up with, âand you know that. it was stupid, and you couldâve gotten hurt. or worse.â there it is. his voice changed when he said you couldâve gotten hurt.
itâs your turn to sigh, this time because you finally understand. it makes your heart flutter a little, and it makes you even more annoyed. âsam, i can handle myself. you know that. sure, it was kind of stupid, and not a fully thought out plan, but i had to figure out a way to get us out of there! four vamps were about to find you, so i had to distract them. easiest way was with my blood. one vamp found dean, but he handled that just as easy as he always does. i knew youâd have my back, so i let the other three come after me. and look! weâre all here, alive and kicking! this is such a stupid thing for you to get mad over.â
âitâs stupid for me to want you to be more careful?â he counters.
âsam, we have to take risks in this job, we do it all the time. thatâs just how this works, whatâs different about this time?â you question.
âjustââ he presses his forefinger and thumb to the bridge of his nose as he tries to come up with a reason thatâs good enough. a reason thatâs not âi worry about you,â because thatâll make you even more angry, make it sounds like he doesnât think youâre a good enough hunter. and he certainly canât explain that thatâs not it, he worries because the worst possible thing to him is you getting hurt. because then youâd ask why and he wouldnât be able to tell you the truth.
âcanât we just be done with this?â you ask, and the tone of your voice is one he canât deny. youâre upset, bothered, and tired of his pettiness. more so, youâre just plain old tired. it takes too much effort to stay upset with one another. he lets your question sit in the air for a moment longer.
âyeah,â he relents, voice quiet now. heâs holding back words, touches, feelings. he wants to tell you, âjust please donât put yourself in danger, it scares me. i get so worried. it makes me want to pull you close and protect you even though i know you donât need it. thatâs why iâm upset.â he wants to get up from the couch and set his computer across from yours, sit across from you, just so youâre a little bit closer. he wants to touch you so bad that it sort of hurts.
instead, he has to live for the relieved breath that huffs out through your nose, so quiet it couldnât quite be counted as a sigh.
âgood,â you say, voice matching his own quietness. thereâs still tension hanging between you, but soon enough, itâll dissipate altogether, and tomorrow, youâll be back to joking with one another, brushing shoulders, and hiding how in love with each other you are. maybe he can even convince you to share his bed tonight. the couch is horridly uncomfortable.
only after youâre convinced that sam wonât be all pissy to you until the next time you find something silly to be angry about do you begin on your research. itâs just as fruitless as everything else today, and after hours searching and drawing banks, you go back to the interviews, jotting down all the details you can remember in case seeing it on paper helps something new and useful jump out at you.
all you get is a dull ringing in your ear, probably courtesy of some old motel appliance. but the ringing grows louder, and in your tired state, it becomes completely bothersome. you press your hand against your left earâitâs loudest thereâand shut your eyes. itâs been an hour or two since sam has shifted to sit across from you to escape the digging springs of the couch, so the movement catches his attention quickly.
âyou alright?â he asks, already with a little pinch of his eyebrows in worry.
âyeah, âm fine,â you say, realizing the ringing must be the beginning of a headache, since sam canât seem to hear it. âjust a headache,â you explain.
âwant me to get you some advil?â he offers.
âno, no thatâs alright, iâve got it,â you deny, but you donât get up. your head doesnât really hurt, and the ringing fades as fast as it appeared. youâre about to sigh in relief, when suddenly, youâre sort of breathless, and you gasp to take in air. the moment passes, and you shake your head to yourself a little. itâs weird until you remember that samâs looking at you with that little furrow to his brow, sweet and concerned, like the last thing he wants is for you to be in pain, even if itâs just a measly headache. that look in his eyes as his gaze focuses on you and only you is certainly enough to take your breath away. it just took you by surprise this time.
âyou sure youâre okay?â he asks again, worried by your gasp.
âmhmm,â you hum, trying to keep your tone light and trying not to look too hard into his pretty hazel eyes. âjusâ hurt for a second, but i think the headacheâs gone away.â
âokay,â he relents, not fully convinced, but willing to take your word for it and refocus on his computer screen. you turn your own attention back to the papers in front of you, away from his face, so close that it sends your heart into wild palpitations every time your mind wanders from the case and to his presence. in other words, it happens often.
youâre determined to find something, some detail that clicks and leads you to anything important. but after another unfocused hour, your eyelids are heavy, almost as much as your head as you wish to just sink down and fall asleep right there on that little table.
âyou should get some sleep,â sam says, no stranger to the way you look when you should quit being stubborn and just go to bed. and normally, youâd resist, but the idea of sleep, of closing your eyes and letting your breath even out, slow down, is far too inviting.
so, you relent, and close your laptop. âyeah,â you say as you shuffle the sheets of paper together and set them on a neat pile on top of your computer.
âtake the bed, too,â he insists, âyou look exhausted.â
âmm, glad to hear it,â you joke halfheartedly, âbut, no, sam, that couch is too small for you. itâs small for me, even.â
âand itâs seriously uncomfortable,â he adds.
âso weâll share. iâll leave space for you. you should come to bed soon, too. âs not like we should wait up for dean,â you snicker. sam rolls his eyes, but easily agrees with your conclusion. as you settle into the covers of the motel bed, you consider waiting up for him so you can feel the dip of the bed, then the warmth that radiates off him as he lays beside you. you want to feel the brush of his long arms, the heel of his foot or nudge of his toe, sometimes youâre treated with the broad expanse of his back. but sleep claims you before you can even make the attempt.
samâs big hand on your shoulder brings you back into consciousness, and you breathe in long and hard since it seems like you canât quite fill your lungs. then your eyes flutter open, and samâs figure is hovering over yours, his hand lingering, then slipping away as he sees you wake. he doesnât stand fully upright yet, unsure if he should say something or not.
he keeps his voice low, not wanting to alert dean, whoâs changing in the bathroom. âare you feeling fine?â
groggy as you sit up, you peek at the clock. 8:43. you slept through the 8:30 alarm. odd.
âuh, yeah, iâm fine,â you answer, voice gravelly from the morningâs first use, âwhy?â
sam shifts to sit on the bedside opposite you. ânothing just⌠i donât know, you were just breathing really light last night. i could barely even tell you were breathing at some points and normally you breathe pretty noticeably while you sleep. and, you know, given this case, i just wanted to check.â
sam notices the way you breathe when you sleep. thatâs just about all you can take away from his words. sam pays enough attention to the way you breathe when you sleep to know when your breathing is different. sam thinks about the way that you breathe. maybe thatâd be creepy from anyone else, but you think about the way he breathes too. the way it lulls you to sleep when heâs close, the way it catches when heâs surprised, or the way it changes when heâs about to laugh.
then you remember heâs said something youâre supposed to address. âitâs nothing, sam. i feel totally fine, just tired from working back to back cases, is all.â you say this because youâre sure of it; you do feel just fine. and sam makes you breathless all the time, so thereâs nothing out of the ordinary there.
âare you sure?â he presses, âyou slept straight through the alarm, like a rock.â
âiâm sure,â you say.
âokay,â you can immediately tell that heâs not entirely convinced as he says this, âbut if anything happens or changes or you feel like youâre out of breath, you promise to tell me or dean?â
âof course.â you may not want to be fussed over, but you certainly donât want to go out in such a stupid, horrible way. âi promise,â you add, just for his sake. deanâs phone starts ringing, and he appears out of the bathroom.
âeither way, letâs get this case done, and quick,â sam insists.
âdonât have to tell me twice,â you agree, throwing off the covers to get ready for the day.
deanâs voice keeps you from lingering by samâs side. âhey, crazy kids, letâs hurry it up. just got off the phone with the sheriff, there was another death last night.â
âdammit,â you and sam swear in unison.Â
on the way to the scene, dean updates you on his findings from last night. he was just as unsuccessful as you in finding major dirt on any of the victims, though he recieved similar testimonials to the sisterâs about the first, henry. otherwise, he was able to find the witchâs possible hunting ground in a bar where all three victims have been seen with their partners. sam reports that heâs getting close to finding the right spell after discovering a few similar ones.Â
when you reach the victimâs house, sam and dean check in with the police officers, and you immediately head to interview whoever found the victimâs body. heâs obviously distraught, and probably still in shock from losing his boyfriend. you do your best to stay gentle, kind, and understanding as you lead him through the interview, interrupting your questions for the occasional âhe sounds like he was a wonderful partner,â or other such comforting phrase as the man, tyler, rambles about how great he was, how guilty he feels, and just about nothing helpful except for adding another data point to the one pattern you have.
âthank you for your help,â you say, giving him a tight lipped smile before standing and drifting over to sam on instinct as you mull over the information you recieved. heâs poking around in the kitchen, subtly searching for anything abnormal and most likely coming up empty as this house follows the unhelpful trend of the rest.
âanything?â he asks once youâre by his side.
you shake your head, âjust the madly in love bit. everything was pretty much the same as the other vics as well.â sam sighs like he expected that answer.
âi think we should look more into the first victim,â he suggests, echoing the same thought that you had. âmaybe interview natalie again, see if she admits something different about henry if we push it a little.â
âi agree, though iâd say letâs hold off on interviewing her again unless we canât find the spell soon. even if she admits that he wasnât as good to her as she said before, iâm not sure how much good that does in comparison to the spell. if you keep looking into that, iâll check henryâs records more thoroughly. i looked into him less last night since we already had something on him.â you revise the plan a bit, and sam nods in agreement, making that sort of awkward face with his lips pursed and eyebrows raised that he does when someone without the knowledge you have comes in hearing range. you glance behind you to see the figure of a police officer through the kitchen doorway and are fast to quit all talk of spells and witches to avoid sounding insane.
âdean can scout out the bar again to see if this most recent couple frequented there as well,â sam puts the last piece in place for your plan, just as you imagined it. once it seems like thereâs nothing left to glean from the house, you grab dean and head out back to the car. the brothers walk a bit ahead of you as sam fills dean in on the plan.
âexcuse me! agent,â a voice calls from behind you. the three of you turn, and you wave the two of them away to indicate that youâll deal with it.
âyes?â you respond as an officer approaches.
âyour partner asked for the full coronerâs reports on paper from the first three victims,â she says, holding out a file as she reaches you.
âah! right. thank you, officer.â you give her a polite smile and take the papers before turning away. sam and dean have made it to the impala, parked a bit away due to the police cars surrounding the house. you jog at a casual pace to catch up, but falter about halfway there as your breaths turn all shuddery and quick. you stop, trying to right yourself and desperate to brush this off, but you just keep gulping in breaths, feeling like youâve run a mile at top speed without warming up.Â
shit. shit, shit, shit, is all you can think. fuck.
as you stare at the car, deanâs already in the front seat and sam is pulling the passengerâs door open, and you will with all your might that neither of them will turn to look for you. you donât want them to catch you like this. instead, you want to explain it to them, calm and collected and full of breath because your bodyâs beginning to readjust and you should be fine to walk over in moments and dammitâ samâs twisted around to find you, his hands resting on the top of the car and the door. the second he catches sight of you, just standing there with your chest heaving up and down, heâs launched himself away from the car and towards you. he calls your name, worry flooding his voice. you had tried to recompose yourself the second you saw his head turning, but it was too late, and now heâs jogging your way.
sam is in front of you in moments, his hands on your shoulders and his face fallen in a deep frown.
âyouâre not okay, are you?â
âiâ iâmâ,â you canât think of what to say, and though your breath is returning to normal, you canât deny him. âletâs just get in the car. please.âÂ
his jaw clenches and his eyes flick all over you, from the top of your head to the point of your shoes like he always looks at you when he thinks you might be hurt. heâs taking you in, quick and almost panicked so he can fix it right away. he takes a steadying breath because heâs so ovewrought he can barely think. âfine,â he says, voice carefully hushed. if he doesnât control it, he might start shouting, panicking even. sam canât bear to leave you untouched now, so he leaves a hand splayed on your shoulder blade as you finish the short walk to the car. he opens the back door and climbs right in, completely foregoing his spot in the passengerâs seat. you realize he wants to sit in the back with you, and it wouldâve been sweet if it wasnât because youâre probably dying.
jaw clenched, you follow him in, and deanâs already twisted around in his seat, gaze shifting between the two of you to try and read what just happened.
âwhat was that all about?â he questions, eyebrows raised. you put a hand on samâs knee to stop him from telling dean.
âthe witch got me,â you drop the news without much hesitation, more focused on getting your two cents in before either of them start grilling you with questions and making stupid suggestions to try and fix it, âitâs gotta be someone we met or passed by yesterday. one of the people we interviewed or someone from the diner we had lunch at; these types of spells normally require the victimâs dna. and before either of you do anything stupid or crazy, weâre gonna stick with the same plan. dean, you can drop us at the motel so we can find the spell and reversal, and you find out what you can at the bar. got it?â
dean looks at you like youâre crazy, and you ignore samâs gaze altogether.Â
âgot it?â dean repeats back to you, incredulous, ânot so much, kid, iâm gonna need you to explain this to me a little better. what do you mean the witch got you? you mean youâre gonna stop breathing in some odd hours that might not be enough time for us to find and gank this witch?â
âyes, dean, thatâs what i mean. try to keep up,â you turn a little mean as your frustration takes over in order to compensate for your growing fear. âand iâm not going to die, so quit being so pessimistic. weâll find the witch, as long as we stay focused on the plan. unless you have a faster way, which iâd be happy to abide by.â neither have a good enough retort to that, so you continue, âcan we go now? we might not have that much time.â
with much effort, dean turns back in his seat and starts the engine. his voice is low when he asks, âwhat do you mean by that?â
âwell, i donât know exactly when this whole thing started!â you answer as he pulls into the street, âsam said my breathing wasnât totally normal last night. if that means anything, well, i went to bed early last night, around eleven. that could mean itâs been at least, i donât know,â you check the time, âeleven hours. which gives us five, minimum.â you think you can physically feel sam tense up next to you.
âfive hours?â sam repeats, his voice taut, like heâs holding back anger, fear, maybe more. âand were there any times before that you felt out of breath?âÂ
you think back to yesterday. sure, every time i looked at you, isnât quite an answer that you can give. âum, iâm not sure,â you say, sounding more cryptic than casual, as you had meant. you see deanâs eyebrow raise through the rearview mirror.
âyouâre not sure?â dean asks, unbelieving. the two brothers are starting to sound like a broken record as they repeat every other thing you say back to you.
âyeah. nothing comes to mind,â you say, more firmly this time.
sam sighs. âyou canât seriously think itâs a good idea to hide that sort of thing from us if it happened. this is serious.â
you scoff, âoh, really? i wasnât aware, itâs not like itâs my life on the line, or anything like that.â
âalright, letâs not get pissy,â dean intervenes.
âpissy?â you scoff again, âright, because this is serious and iâm apparently unaware of that.â
dean says your name, voice a little chiding as he tries to disperse some of the tension thatâs building within the small space of the car. âletâs focus on the case here. sam is right, we need to know everything you do. was there anything else weird you noticed last night?â
âi donât know!â you exclaim before calming down a bit and taking a deep breath. âi had this ringing in my ears for a minute, around ten. i thought it was a headache. and ⌠i did feel breathless, but just for a second. i thought it was ⌠something else.â
âwhy didnât you say anything?â sam asks, immediately remembering this. you had pressed your hand to your ear. he believed you when you said it was a headache, but he should have known better. youâre far more likely to rub your temples when you feel a headache coming on.
âi thought it was something else,â you repeat.
âlike what?â he presses.
âlikeââ you hesitate, âlike nothing. just nothing, i donât know.â
dean interrupts again to get things back on track, âso that could mean four hours, not five.â you see samâs jaw clenching out of the corner of your eye.
âyeah,â you confirm, hoping your voice doesnât reveal how anxious you really are.
âmy question is why just you?â dean asks. âiâd normally figure itâs because they suspect you to be a hunter, but if they were able to get your dna, they probably had access to ours, too. the witch think youâre madly in love with sammy or somethinâ?â
you fluster at that, mind scrambling, why in the goddamn hell would dean say that? does he want me dead faster? âuhm, uh,â you laugh a little, completely awkward about it, âwhy would they think that? we were clearly, you know, in a working relationship, not a, hahâ romantic,â you clear your throat, ârelationship. iâm sure itâs just the hunter thing, maybe they couldnât get your dna⌠or they thought i was more worth killing,â you attempt at a joking insult, but youâre still sort of jerking through your words and reeling from someone saying âyouâre madly in love with sammyâ out loud.
to your left, sam looks almost as flustered as you feel, which brings you an ounce of comfort.
âwhatever you say,â dean shrugs.
when you get back to the hotel, samâs practically running inside to pull out his laptop, and dean speeds away the second the car doors close behind the two of you. both of you are fidgety and antsy as you conduct your research in silence. you think samâs even more nervous than you, with his leg bouncing and teeth chewing away at his lower lip. youâre not sure if you should comfort him, or let him be in favor of getting the research done. it doesnât take too long for him to find the original spell, and as he tells you about it, some nervousness dissipates when the both of you get back into the groove of a normal hunt, trying to pretend that this time, the consequences arenât as personal as they could ever get.
you canât find any dirt on henry in any records, so you focus on staff from the bar and diner from yesterday to see if thereâs any overlap that could have gotten dna from both you and all the other four victims. something else entirely jumps out at you as you check employment records.
âsam, itâs natalie,â you blurt out into the silence of the room. he raises his eyebrows, and you explain before he can even ask. âshe works at the bar. and i drank some of that lemonade she gave us. she had easy access to everyoneâs dna, and henry was the only deviation from the pattern.â
sam stands as you explain, âokay, letâs go.â
âno, letâs call dean and finish finding the reversal spell. iâd like to have a backup plan, if thatâs alright.â sam purses his lips, looking like he wants to argue. you propose something more rational than his idea, âweâll call dean and let him know. he can go to her house and make sure sheâs the real deal before we go, too.â
âfine,â sam agrees, pulling out his phone, just as it begins to ring. he answers it and puts it on speaker, âdean, itâs natalie.â
âyeah, i know. thatâs what i was about to tell you, the idiots from last night didnât bother to mention it,â he complains. âiâm headed to her house right now.â to prove it, you hear the car door open and close. âhowâs it going on your end?â
âwe found the spell, weâre looking for the reversal right now,â you answer. âcall us if you need help.â
âmm, you just take care oâ yourself, alright? iâll call you back.â after that, all you get is the hang-up tone.Â
a bit later, your concentration is interrupted by the pinging of samâs phone. you watch him as he checks the messages, then looks up at you with a poorly hidden scowl.
âshe wasnât at her house,â he explains, âdeanâs headed to her sisterâs to look for her there. but itâs definitely her, he found a secret room full of, yâknow, as heâd say, âwitchy stuff.ââ
you try to hide your disappointment and the uneven rise and fall of your chest. samâs stayed mostly focused on the research, but every now and then, you feel him looking you over, brow furrowed and eyes concerned as he checks for anything abnormal. heâs looking at you like that now.
âdamn,â is all you manage in response while still trying to stay casual about it.
âhow are you feeling?â he asks. you expected the question, but you still donât want to answer. youâre about to tell him youâre fine, since youâre not really running out of breath yet, until he speaks again before you can, âand donât say âfine.ââ
âi am fine,â you insist immediately, âjust extra tired from getting a little less oxygen than normal. but nothing crazy. i can still focus on this research and i can still hold a weapon.â you demonstrate by grabbing one of the knives you keep strapped to your thigh and twirling it a little in your hand. samâs face spells out the word âreally?â
âjustâ tell me if it gets worse. please,â heâs just about begging, and with a bit of puppy dog eye action, youâre crumbling.
âokay, sam,â you relent, letting your voice go soft. heâs really scared for you, and it makes you feel just about every little thing. you want to comfort him, reassure that youâll be okay, even when youâre terrified for yourself. you want him to comfort you, for that exact reason, and you want to hold his hand. maybe you can be scared together, a little closer than you are now. you want to kiss him, because what if this is the only chance you get? that thought horrifies you. then you wonder if itâs for the best. maybe you should die as his best friend, because dying as his anything is better than scaring him away first. itâs hard to concentrate on the research, but itâs not hard to find the motivation. the hope is to avoid death completely.
finally, you find it.
âi got it, sam!â youâre excited, then a bit breathless after pushing so much air out of your lungs so fast. the breath you take in is sort of shuddering, and it makes sam frown. he doesnât even try to hide how worried he is. his face is nothing but unadulterated concern and care and ⌠and something else before that expression melts away and heâs focusing on the computer screen that you tilted towards him. the crease between his brows only grows as his eyes flit down the list of ingredients.
âwe donât have the half of these ingredients,â he worries.
âno,â you admit, âbut thereâs a witch in town whoâs away from home who might.â
to get there, sam doesnât hesitate to steal a car from the motel parking lot, and this time you canât even argue given the fact that youâre pretty sure you have less than two hours to live at this point. you promised sam youâd tell him if it got worse, but as it does, you want to say something less and less.
sam picks the lock of the door, entering the house carefully with you right behind. weapons drawn, you walk the route that dean gave you to the hidden room, the door in the wall of the hallway left open for you by dean.
itâs much darker than the rest of the house from the lack of windows and bright lights. this, paired with the eerie assortment of basic herbs to what might be jars of blood, makes it look like natalie really leaned into the witchy aesthetic, which youâd find understandable if she werenât using her magic to kill people.
sam walks faster than you know is wise to match paces with, so you follow behind him slowly as he rushes to set the computer with the list of ingredients on the table in the center of the room abd begin the spell. youâre a split second too late to shout in warning when you see a figure emerge from behind a shelf of herbs.
sam whirls around at your cry, gun raised, only to be hit on the side of the head, hard, by a wooden bat in natalieâs hand. he crumples to the ground despite his size, and without batting an eye, your knife is flying through the air, straight for the spot between natalieâs shoulder blades. but at the last second, she spins around, and with a flick of her hand, the knife falls to the ground. you reach for your gun, but through your hindered breathing, youâre slow. she has no trouble launching the bat at you at an unnatural speed. the wood slams into your chest, sending you sprawling and gasping in your weakened state. youâre fighting for breath so hard that you can barely register her hauling you up and tying your hands behind your back, then doing the same to sam. somehow, sheâs able to get his weight on a chair and tie him to the wobbly piece of furniture. then, itâs your turn, and by the time you come back to your senses, breathing far more labored than before, youâre tied to a chair, back to back with sam.
natalie gives you a horrid smile as she tugs at a knot to tighten it.
âwell, isnât this fortuitous! such a lovely surprise for you two to visit me,â she chimes, just as you feel sam stirring behind you. his head lolls back, brushing against your own. you completely ignore her in favor of calling his name. a rumbling groan escapes his lips as he stumbles back into consciousness.
âthatâs right!â natalie grins, âitâll be much better with pretty boy awake.â she walks around you, and you hear a smacking sound that you presume to be her hitting his cheeks to wake him further.
âdonât touch him,â you practically growl. it sounds far less intimidating than you hoped in your breathless voice. she laughs and sam lets out an audible huff of air as he wakes.
âthere he is,â natalie grins. ânow iâve got two love birds at my mercy! much better than i could have imagined. you know, i couldnât watch the deaths of the others, so this is far more exciting. i thought iâd have to miss yours, too!â she motions to you. âbut now i get to watch you die, watch pretty boy watch you die, and then kill him, too! lovely isnât it? iâve never had such luck, thank you idiots for bringing it to me.â
âyouâre not killing anyone today,â sam retorts, anger filling his voice. with a bit of an uncomfortable stretch, you twist your fingers around to grab a hold of his. itâs awkward, but you take advantage of her horrible ramblings to keep her distracted and try to guide samâs hands to the tiny blade attached to the seam of your jacket sleeve.
âiâm not?â she laughs, âmmm, you donât really seem like youâre in the position to determine that, pretty boy.â you hate her calling him that. âwell, love will do that to a person. makes you easy targets, blinds you. you two were just too easy, so busy making eyes at each other to pay any proper attention to me.â you conclude sheâs crazy, rambling on about what made her angry enough to kill. youâre sure she caught you making eyes at him, but sheâs crazy talking like heâs visibly in love with you too. immediately catching on to your plan, samâs hands are fumbling around with your jacket sleeve, trying to get the knife unstuck so it can slip down and into your hands.
âitâs so goddamn irritating when people are just so in love with each other. makes me want to hurl,â she complains.
âsounds to me like youâre just jealous your boyfriend didnât treat you like that,â you prod at her weak spot. she whirls on you, grabbing the front of your jacket and yanking you towards her.
âso i killed him. and everything he was supposed to be,â she hisses. âand know iâm going to kill you two pining idiots. you know, you donât have very long,â she feigns sympathy in the condescending tone of her voice. when she slams you back against the chair, it takes your breath away for a frighteningly long time. samâs so worried, calling your name out over and over again as you choke on nothing, that he almost doesnât realize that the movement also helped dislodge the knife and let it fall into your hands. it slices a thin line down your arm, but you couldnât care less as you begin to work on cutting through his bonds.
âoh, shut up, lover boy,â natalie growls, hating the way he says your name with so much care as she stays leaning over you, a sick smile on her face. why the hell is she calling him lover boy? you know thatâs not what you should be so worried about in this moment, but itâs the one thing that you can think about. âiâm busy watching your little lover die! i think youâll look so good crying over them, wonât you?â
when samâs ties snap, he stays in place, holding onto the rope so it doesnât drop to the ground and alert her. he just shimmies the knife from your hand to his and begins working on your own ties. through it all, he pretends to struggle helplessly, cursing at her wildly.
natalie rolls her eyes, then stands straight. âif you donât shut it, iâm going to make you,â she snarls, stalking around to stand in front of sam. in an instant, he brings the knife to the rope binding him to the chair, snapping it and lunging towards her. judging from the choked cry that escapes her throat, samâs already plunged the knife into her neck. you hear him grunt, then the sound of her body hits the floor before heâs turned back to you, quickly freeing you all the way and pulling you to your feet. heâs halfway to the door with his hand gripping yours when you tug back.
âwait⌠sam, wait!â you gasp, and heâs immediately face to face with you, sweet eyes looking you up and down with confusion and worry. âitâs notâ it didnât work. the spell, we need to do the spell.â
âwhat do you mean? thatâs impossible, killing the witch who performed the spell alwaysâ,â he fully takes you in for the first time. your chest is still heaving, your breath rattling, and itâs undeniably getting worse by the minute. âokay, okay. just sit down.â he guides you back to a chair, turning it to face the table so he can keep an eye on you as he works. this time, youâre having a hard time hiding the fear from your eyes, and he reads that loud and clear. he lets you have his strong hands cupping your face for just a moment. âyouâre gonna be fine. iâm gonna fix this.â he says it with such conviction that youâd do anything to believe him. then his warm touch is gone, and youâre again hit with the reality that itâs getting harder and harder to breathe, to get any satisfactory amount of air.
your eyes follow him desperately as he rushes about the area, checking and rechecking the spell as he adds ingredients to a small cup he finds. his movements become more and more panicked by the second as he notices your breathing getting worse, more fluttery and gulping. samâs muttering to himself as he works, too scared to look at your face for too long. unable to find one of the ingredients, he curses loudly as he searches, shoving a whole rack of ingredients to the ground. glass shatters and the metal rack clangs against the ground, the sound echoing throughout the space.
flinching at the sound, you cry out his name, struggling to speak, âyou have⌠you have to.. to calm .. calm down.â
âi canât!â he practically shouts, and you think youâve never seen him this distraught, this helpless before.
âwhy?â is all you can manage between gasps.
âbecause youâre dying! and i canât let you die, i wonât.â heâs still rummaging through ingredients as he speaks. heâs still refusing to look at you.
you want him to say it, the truth, so you repeat the question, âwhy?â you wheeze out, desperate to hear it in case he canât finish the spell on time.
âbecause i love you!â heâs no longer shouting when he says it. his voice is all desperation and helplessness and utter sincerity, said like all he needs in the world is for you to understand that. youâre not sure if the shuddering breath you let out could count as a sigh of relief, but itâs the closest youâll ever get.
you take him in. tears running down his cheeks, lips pursed and eyebrows pinched like heâs holding back from crying out. heâs pretty like that, you think. maybe thatâs a cruel thought, but you love him too much to think otherwise. heâs always pretty; when heâs mad at you, when heâs bleeding, when heâs stitching himself up, when heâs biting his lip in concentration. when he talks about something that makes him excited or when heâs crying. when heâs oblivious of the way you look at him while he sleeps, and when he makes you love him so hard that it hurts worse than anything a monster could do to you.
youâre lightheaded, and taking in so little air that you canât say it back. all you want to do is say it back. you slide out of the chair and onto your hands and knees, shaking so hard you can barely hold yourself up. from the ground, you can hear sam, moving around, letting jars fall and shatter to the ground, crying.
when you collapse to the floor, writhing and gasping for any semblance of air, sam snaps. he canât find the goddamn rosemary, such a simple and common herb, even for a normal kitchen, especially compared to all the other ingredients, but he knows itâs essential for its protection, purification, and healing properties. he canât give up, he canât let you die, but youâre writhing on the ground and crying inbetween gasps and all he wants is to hold you close, brush your tears away and tell you itâll be alright. he barely catches the sound of your voice over the noise of his searching.
âpleaseâŚâ
âwhat? what is it, honey?â he asks through tears, unable to look at you as his eyes scan a new shelf for the basic pine-needle shape of the leaves, maybe even the little purple flowers to help it stand out.
âhold me,â you wheeze, afraid of dying alone on the stone cold floor as you feel your consciousness slipping through your fingertips like the sand of an hourglass. sam feels like heâs had his heart cleaved in two by a blunt ax coated in the worldâs most vile poison.
he chokes on a sob before he can speak again, âi canât. iâm so sorry, baby, i canât. i just need the rosemary, itâs so close, please, baby.â heâs not sure who heâs begging to. you, to stay alive? god, to intervene? himself, to finish the spell on time? anything and anyone who will listen, most likely. you donât have the energy to ask him to hold you again.
that moment of silence is the most horrible of them all, then the door swings open with a bang, letting the bright lights from the rest of the house flood into the dark space. deanâs eyes zero in on you on the floor, grasping helplessly at your throat, and heâs on his knees by your side in a second.
he scoops you up in his arms and to his chest. âhey. hey, hey, hey. itâs okay,â he comforts, his eyes wet because he doesnât know if he believes himself, given your state. âsamâs gonna fix it, darlinâ. youâre gonna be just fine.â heâs holding you too tight to wipe away the tears that helplessly stream down your face and he clings to the fact that your hand is gripping his wrist tight.
âdean, rosemary!â sam barks. dean looks up from you, eyes scanning the mess around you; natalieâs dead body and the blood from her wound seeping slowly over the floor, the shattered glass and clutter of dried herbs along with other magical ingredients. sam realizes dean probably wonât recognize it on his own. âdried bundle, purple flowers, thin leaves,â he instructs as best as he can as he continues his own search. dean feels awful as he lets you fall back to the ground and your weak hands fingers scrape at his arms, but he thinks he sees it, rolled far away and invisible unless youâre crouched to the ground. he scrambles across the floor to grab it and tosses it to sam, who barely manages to catch it with his shaking hands.
sam rips at it with thick, clumsy fingers, crushing the brittle leaves between the pads of his forefinger and thumb into the mixture. heâs silently praying itâs enough as he mixes it in, letting a few drops slosh over the side of the cup in his rush. deanâs back with you, holding you up in a sitting position for sam with a hand smoothing up and down your arm in his best effort of a comforting gesture. he presses a kiss to your temple as sam drops down in front of you. sam uses one large hand to cup the side of your face, and the other to bring the cup to your lips. for a moment, heâs terrified beyond comprehension when the first bit of the liquid he pours into your mouth just dribbles right back out and down your chin.
youâve gone nearly completely still; your eyes are barely open and your breathing so shallow that only dean knows youâre still inhaling because heâs got you so close.
âplease,â sam begs, whispering your name with such conviction, such desperation, that it pulls you away from the claws of unconsciousness just enough to get you to swallow weakly. sam tilts the cup up, just a bit more, and the rim knocks against your bottom teeth as more foul tasting liquid seeps into your mouth. you swallow again, then gag a little when he pours too much for you to handle in your current state. samâs hopeful when half the mixture is down your throat and he tilts the cup for you again, but the liquid falls down your chin this time, and your eyes are closed. youâve gone totally still in deanâs arms.
âno, no, no, wake up. câmon, weâre almost there. you gotta wake up,â sam begs again, more tears spilling onto his cheeks after his hope is stolen away, more cruelly than ever. âplease, please, please, honey. please wake up.â his voice breaks as he calls out your name again, setting the cup on the floor and taking you from dean to pull you into his own arms. dean lets him, swallowing hard and not daring to move an inch as he takes in the sight, maybe just about the most horrible thing heâs seen in his fucked up life. thatâs the second family member heâs had die in his arms, and the first is holding your limp body as he shakes, cries, and begs, beyond distraught as he denies the fact that he couldnât save you. dean curses his life. he wishes it was him, thinks about the fact that heâs always too late to make a difference. heâs ready to sell his soul again, ready to go to hell and back.
youâre dead weight against samâs chest, your clammy forehead and tear-sticky cheeks pressed against the sweaty skin of his neck. he gathers you closer, his hand tugging at your jacket and rubbing up and down your back, begging for you to wake up.
deanâs about to interrupt samâs mourning to tell him heâs gonna look for the nearest crossroads, that all sam needs to do is keep your body safe. then you shudder in samâs arms and heâs calling your name again, far beyond desperate that youâll hear him. he says your name like a prayer, with so much reverence, far more than he could ever muster up for the god he wants to believe in.
you take in a sharp breath, your eyes fly open, and youâre gasping for air, grasping at samâs sturdy arms like youâve almost just drowned. sam just about sobs in relief, comforting you through his own tears, âoh, youâre okay, honey, youâre alright. iâve got you. just breathe, baby, just breathe, thatâs all you gotta do.â his voice instantly calms you, and you wrap your shaky arms around his neck to show him you understand. heâs got you. he buries his face into your neck, trying not to hold you too tight for fear of restricting your breathing. you feel the wetness of his tears on you, warm and so tired. you donât want him to cry. he loves you.
his hands smooth up and down your back, helping you set a pace to calm down your erratic breathing as you let a fresh wave of tears fall on his hot skin. theyâre tears of relief, most of all. of exhaustion and leftover fear, and oh, glory, tears because he loves you. he said it, and now he canât take it back because you love him far too much for that.
âsammy,â you breathe out. he just holds you tighter. âdonât cry, sam. itâs okay. iâm okay.â you slip your fingers into his hair, your hand so gentle as you run it through his pretty locks. you just want to comfort him, take away all the fear from the last few hours that heâs been holding onto, letting pile up and up into an unmanageable, unruly, ugly tower. you suppose him crying so much is him letting the tower topple over, almost as simple as a toddlerâs chubby, innocent hands to a wooden block castle. but it still tugs at your heart, pulls at you so hard because you hate to hear him cry, feel him shake and stiffen up around you, too scared to let you go for even a second. âiâm okay,â you repeat, voice fragile from the whispering brush of deathâs fingers to your palm, but you try to make it strong and confident for him, âyou saved me, sammy, iâm alright. itâs alright. itâs over. you donât need to worry anymore.âÂ
you think he relaxes just a touch at your words, but he doesnât move an inch from his spot on the ground, or say a thing to interrupt the sound of your breathing. all he does is cradle you close, one hand to your back so he can feel it shift when you take in or let out air, and the other splayed from the curve of your neck, up to the base of your head. without moving too much, he presses a long kiss to the ambiguous space above your ear. thatâs not enough, so he tilts his head more to press his lips to the skin of your forehead.
dean hates to break the silent reverence between the two of you, and it means more than the world, the whole goddamn universe or anything else he could ever think of, to see this instead of you dead in samâs arms. you might be the love of samâs life, but that just makes dean all the more protective of you. to dean, youâre family, and you have been for a long time. thatâs why he needs to get the two of you away from here, before anyone finds you and the dead body.
âsam,â dean interrupts, voice somehow both gentle and extra gruff, âwe gotta go.â he knows sam can get you up on his own, but he still places a firm hand on your elbow as the two of you stand. he doesnât want to let his hand fall away from you, but he does anyway. on the way out and to the car, youâre tucked safe into samâs side, and deanâs got his gun in hand, ready to protect the both of you need be.
dean expects it when sam climbs in the backseat with you, just thankful to get away from the damned house and back to the motel. the ride is mostly silent, save the rumble of the engine, and samâs hand stays securely wrapped around yours, itching to pull you even closer. you yawn and sam tugs at your hand, then drops his gaze to his lap when you look at him, offering to let you lie there. you canât resist, because historically, your head in his lap has been heaven, and you figure that this time, after having heard him say âi love you,â itâll be something better than heaven, something undiscovered and infinitely more precious than all the gold and silver in the world. so you drop your head to his thigh, and his hands are immediately on you. youâve got the warmth of his palms on your head and your shoulder. your own hand is on his knee, taking in the feel of his time-worn jeans, and the muscle, sinew, and bone underneath.
you fall asleep, just 10 minutes from the motel, and sam doesnât want to wake you, but you always do anytime he tries to carry you to bed.
he calls your name, all tenderness and sweet as he rubs your shoulder. you stir easily, only having fallen into a light slumber. the sigh you let out when you sit up is soft, and sam thinks itâs cute. then he thinks about the fact that, when you both settle down, he wonât have to hold that thought back. âyouâre cute,â he can say, and make you both a little flustered before pressing a kiss to your lips. until then, heâs getting out of the car with you, only letting his hands stray from you when dean pulls you into a hug, right then and there. he holds you tight, showing you how scared he was too, so you squeeze back with extra care.
âdonât scare us like that again, kiddo. you got it?â he mumbles into the embrace.Â
you nod, âi got it.â he lingers for a moment, then presses a quick kiss to the side of your head before parting and letting sam take over again.
heâs got a hand stuck to your back on the way into the room, all the way to the bed you shared last night. you donât hesitate to peel off your dirty shirt and go to put on a new one, but samâs already holding one out to you. dean disappears into the bathroom, despite not wanting to let you out of his sight.
you tug on the shirt, then collapse into bed, taking sam with you.
âyou stink,â you complain lightheartedly, looking at him with honey-sweet love in your eyes. he wants to joke back, but heâs not quite there yet.
âiâll shower after dean, if you want,â he offers, nothing but sincere. you smile at him, his nose inches from yours.
âbut then youâd have to get up,â you say.
âsure, but if thatâs what you want,â he repeats. heâd do anything for you, you think.
you shake your head. âthatâs not what i want. i donât want you to go. but i also want to fall asleep in your arms, and it sucks that you smell like blood, sweat, and nasty potions.â
âso what do i do, baby?â he asks, voice light, but you think he really means it. you melt at the pet name.
âhmmm,â you consider, truly not sure. youâre all quick in the shower after years of experience in motel bathrooms, but that still feels like such a long time to be away from him, especially since you should probably shower, too. you decide to suck it up. âyou shower, then me. dean said the water was still hot yesterday, even when he went last.â youâre not sure when your voice dropped to a whisper, but itâs quiet now. he sighs, half disappointed, but knowing itâll be much more comfortable that way.
the second youâre out of the shower and dressed, samâs tugging you back into bed with him and tucking you into his chest. his hold is still protective and a little wary. you want to make him relax, so you wiggle away just a bit to look at his face.
âsam, iâm so hungry,â you complain. he smiles at you, thinking youâre too cute to resist when you whine just a little. and he just loves it when you say his name.
âyouâre gonna make me get up again?â he asks, and you hold back a triumphant grin because his voice has turned pleasantly lighthearted.
âyouâre gonna let me starve?â you tease back.
âfine,â he huffs, âwe can go to the vending machine together.â he really doesnât want to be far from you.
âno,â you protest, dragging out the âoâ just a little. âwe had that earlier. and chips donât count as a meal. poor dean probably hasnât eaten at all today! we deserve a treat,â you argue.
sam canât deny you anything you want in this moment. âwe do,â he agrees, âwhat dâyou want? maybe we can convince dean to pick it up for us.â
you smile. âmmm, thatâs not fair. dean deserves a treat, too. iâll satisfy myself with vending machine food for a few hours, then we can go out to an early dinner.â
âare you sure?â sam asks. you smile more.
âmhmm,â you nod. âi have the excuse to buy a candy bar too now.â
dean, splayed out on his own bed, has likely been listening in on this whole conversation, and graciously chosen not to interrupt. he smiles at you as you exit the room.
with a glance that no oneâs around, sam slips his hand into yours as you make your way to the vending machine down the hall. your heart blooms at the feeling, at the way heâs been looking at you without shame and suddenly you realize you never said it back. sam punches in the number for an excessive amount of snacks, getting all of yours, his, and deanâs favorites, waiting til they all fall down to collect them. he bends over, gathering them all in his big arms and wide pockets and handing a few to you. the crinkling of plastic fills the quiet air as you watch him with a sort of worship and adoration dripping from your eyes. you take in the curve of his back, the peek of his spine that you get from his tshirt riding up a bit, and the pretty brown hair on the back of his head. when he stands, he catches that gaze, and for once you donât hide it away or tuck it into that corner of the drawer where you keep all the little trinkets you donât need, but canât bear to get rid of. because you need this, and you can have this.
âi didnât get to say it back.â your voice comes out hushed, reverent.
âsay what?â he asks, matching his voice to yours without even trying. you take in all the subtle ways that his face changes, as he thinks about what you could mean. the left side of his mouth quirks down, just a bit, and his eyebrows pinch together. itâs not quite the expression he makes then heâs worried or upset, just thinking.
âi love you, too.â when those words finally escape, finally make themselves known and heard, everything is different. itâs like youâve never really breathed before this, because the simplest of things, like an inhale that fills your lungs with stale motel air, is so good, so satisfying, so much better when he looks at you like that. âfor as long as i can remember, sam, i love you. when we were kids at bobbyâs, seventeen and getting soaked in the rain, every moment before then and every moment after, andââ
his lips are on yours and thereâs a messy ruckus of plastic wrapped snacks being dropped to the floor, because he couldnât care about anything except kissing you. his warm, rough hands are so gentle cupping your cheeks and pulling you into him, and you follow suit in disregarding the food in your hands to place them firm on his waist, almost squeezing his sides because you need this to be as real and as solid as it possibly can be.
some might question the merit of this being your first kiss with each other. but itâs so you and sam, standing in an empty motel hallway next to the vending machine and itâs crappy food scattered around your feet. plastic crinkling and rustling when you get closer, and a hunger so insatiable that it makes it hard to breathe.
when you finally break away, panting just a bit, samâs eyes swim with concern as his mind flashes back to you just an hour ago.
âiâm okay,â you interrupt his paranoid thoughts and loop your arms around his neck, âiâm okay, sam. âs just you. baby, i know this is a horrible time to say this, but you always take my breath away, in the best way. youâre so pretty, and iâm so in love with you that when i look at you for too long, i forget to breathe, andââ
his lips are back on yours, telling you me too, me too, me too. saying as they push and mold against yours, you take my breath away and i love you for it.

I was wondering if it was alright if i requested a lorenzo berkshire x fem reader enemies to lover smut, but like its more like they are still enemies always comparing grades and bickering over who is smarter but they have like i guess jealous or rough sex eventually. I am totally fine with any story line, thank you :)
the pain of the edge of the desk digging in to your hips was lulled by the filthy words Enzo was whispering in your ear. You weren't sure how you always ended up like this; blouse half torn open, red marks scattered around your breasts that will soon turn to deep purple hickies,; your skirt bunched around your waist as Enzo repeatedly thrust into you, his bare chest pressed to your back, his lips ghosting against your ear.
"Merlin, you're such a whore f'me, aren't you, Angel?" He laced his fingers through your hair, pulling back from the base of your skull so you were both upright. Enzo never let up his brutal pace and the new angel had the tip of his cock hitting that spongy part deep inside and had your eyes rolling back.
"No words, hmm? Funny, you had such a smart mouth on you earlier," you could practically hear the smirk in Enzo's tone and you wished you could hex it right off of him; if only his cock didn't feel so fucking good.
You tried your hardest to muster up something, "Maybe I have n-nothing to say because of your l-lack of performance." You knew your words didn't sound convincing, but they apparently got the job done when Enzo pulled out of you, grabbing your hips to turn you around and up on to the desk so you were now face to face.
Enzo's mouth were on your neck as he entered you again, a pathetic whine leaving your lips at the action. You felt him smile against your skin, "That's it, angel, that's the sound I wanna hear, not your fucking voice."
"You're such a fucking dick, Enzo," the sentence came out more like a moan, but you were far past caring. Enzo grabbed hold of your throat, forcing your to look at him as his nose brushed against yours, "Yeah, I am a dick, but you fucking love it. Love pissing me off, riling me up just so I'll fuck you like no one else can. You're ruined for any other guy, angel. You're. All. Mine."
The last three words were punctuated by hard, deep thrusts from Enzo that finally pushed you over the edge, your back arching, pushing your chest further into Enzo's, mouth agape and euphoria washed over you. With two more thrusts Enzo was spilling himself inside you, coating your walls as his hips sputtered.
Enzo pulled out slowly, watching as his cum started to slowly drip out of you before taking his two middle fingers and pushing the mix of your releases back inside, curling his fingers a few times just to see your body jolt in front of him.
You grabbed his wrist, stilling his hand. "Fuck, Enzo, don't be a prick," as much as you wanted to ride his fingers towards another release, you had to get back to your own dorm. "C'mon angel, give me one more, I know you want it, I can feel you squeezing my fingers," his cocky tone made you clench around him once more, hips bucking involuntarily.
It didn't take but a few more curls of his fingers before you were coming again, teeth sinking into the meat of Enzo's shoulders to help muffle the loud moan you let out. "Fuuck, you bitch, you bit me," Enzo took a step back before smirking a little before licking his fingers clean.
"Something to remember me by, since you always leave them for me," you were hinting at the marks always left scattered on your chest as you buttoned your blouse back up. You straightened your skirt before walking towards the door, you turned back to him with your hand on the handle.
"You remember the rule," you pointed at him, eyebrows knitted together. Enzo held his hands up, "I know, angel. We tell no one." You nodded in confirmation before opening the door and heading back towards your own dorm.

You are now expected to help the 141 with taking down Makarov in addition to playing nice with them. Itâs hard to play nice when you have always worked alone. It doesnât help that one of the team members, Ghost, gets curious about you with each interaction.Â
Part 1 ~ Part 2 ~ Part 3 ~ Part 4 ~ Part 5 ~ Part 6 ~ Part 7 ~ Part 8 ~ Part 9 ~ Part 10
Youâve always been a light sleeper, if you could even be called that. The truth was that you hardly slept at all. Bedtime was always more like cat-nap time. Light, soundless, ready to pounce at the sound of dust falling to the floor. Thatâs how you trained yourself and the habit stuck, even if you donât take missions anymore. It was hard to deprogram a killing machine.Â
The two years have been peaceful even if you were always on edge. Semi-retirement has been kind in only giving you the sounds of the forest trees in the wind, the gentle rush of the creek, birds singing every morning, and most importantly, no visitors. The world didnât know that you existed and you preferred to keep it that way for as long as you could. While you did feel the phantom blood dripping down your hands every now and then to an unsettling reminiscent degree, you did like this little slice of heaven that was your off-grid cabin. It was a good place to be before you undoubtedly go to hell in the end.
You were in your bed when you heard the rustling of the forest floor just outside your window. Steps. But not the steps belonging to a fox or bear you have learned to recognize over time. These were the steps of a man. No, multiple men. The way the foot falls of a man walking is an undeniable melody you have heard thousands of times. In the dead of night, you bolted up out of bed and reached for your throwing knife and a pistol, always kept at your bedside. Like a thief in your own home, you silently followed the sounds outside along the walls until you reached the living room. They were going to come in through the front door.Â
Under the cover of darkness, you readied your aim at the door. To your surprise, they were messing with the keypad that locked your house down, inputting codes with a subtle click and then beep of a correct code. No one should know the code except for two people. Laswell and yourself.Â
As soon as the door revealed moonlight and a silhouette, you fired your gun. A warning shot. Grazing right past neck. The men stopped and immediately aimed their own rifles, but the one in front held his hand up in surrender. Following orders, the rifles were lowered. You were the first to speak, your voice dripping with venom. âState your purpose and maybe I wonât kill you all where you stand.â
A gentle yet deep Liverpudlian accent voiced back. âEasy now. We donât mean harm. Laswell sent us here. Code Swan.â
âSong?â You replied, your muscles still tense, unwilling to lower your defenses until the full code was complete. It is what ensured both yours and Laswellâs safety.
âBlack Death.â He replied back. You stayed in position for a few moments before finally sighing and lowering your weapon. You turned on a table lamp next to you to get a better look at the intruders. Four men stood in your doorway. One with a fishing hat, one with a mohawk, one with a baseball cap, and one with a skull mask. They were all tall, big with muscle, and seemingly not American from their patches. An interesting bunch to say the least.Â
âFucking Laswell.â You cursed Kateâs name. She should have contacted you about this. You were just about to paint the porch with her mensâ brains. You hated surprises. You often killed them before finding out the intentions.Â
With a wave of your hand, you invited the men to come into your cabin. They cautiously came in, surveying the layout and now understanding what Kate meant when she said that you were âbelligerent.â
You turned on the main lights and tried to get a fire going to relieve some of the autumn chill that had crept through the house. Their leader began to unload his things on the kitchen table, sighing from the weight relief. His men joined in, save for one. You could feel his eyes on you as you encouraged the fire. You didnât even have to look back to know that he was watching your every move.Â
âItâs rude to stare.â You warned curtly as you stood and turned. The man in the skull mask and balaclava didnât avert his gaze.
His voice was rich and gruff like gaboon ebony. His Manchester accent came clear as day. âYouâre half naked.â
He was referring to the large band shirt and boyshort panties that you were wearing. What did he expect from someone that thought that enemies were breaking in? You rolled your eyes and scoffed. âIâm in my pajamas. Besides, a good soldier shouldnât get distracted by any amount of nudity.â
His blue eyes narrowed at your dig. He was a good soldier. An excellent soldier actually. One of the best. But excellent, good, or bad, no one would be able to resist staring at your figure. The exposed thighs, the large neckline of the shirt hanging off your shoulder, various scars scattered across skin like an abstract painting. Heâs never seen anyone like you before.Â
Too bad you had a combative mouth.Â
Before he could get a word in, you had walked off into the kitchen, not bothering to go get pants on. It was your home for fuckâs sake. Besides, there were more pressing matters than your clothes or lack thereof.Â
You began to pull out all the food you had out of your fridge. Everything from deli meat to leftover lasagna was being laid out on the large quartz island. You werenât going to heat anything up or make something new, but the laid out spread would be enough. You werenât a completely heartless host. Just a bare minimum one.
Once the food was out for pickings, you headed back near the dining room, leaning against the doorframe. The boys had maps, blueprints, and laptops covering every surface of your table. Your beautiful, hand-made pine table. This was to be their new safehouse for now. Hopefully not for too long.
âCaptain, itâs connecting now.â The one with the mohawk called out. The captain came right over to greet the screen.
âLaswell, can you hear us?â
âLoud and clear, John. Did everything go well?â Kate chipperly asked. You havenât heard her voice in a long while. You almost forgot how nice her voice actually was.
âShe nearly shot my fuckinâ neck off.â Mohawk-guy grumbled.Â
Kate gave a light, short laugh. âSounds like it went smoothly then. The best that it could be. She there?â
All four men looked up to you, expecting you to come over and face Laswell through the screen. However, you stayed where you were. Instead, you spoke loud enough for your friend to hear. âKate Laswell.â
âHex, Iâm sorry that I couldnât warn you about this beforehand. You know I wouldnât have done this if it wasnât an emergency situation.â She began to apologize and justify. It was always an apology followed by a justification. You wondered if she even ever means her apologies, but in the end, you never really cared enough. However, now it is different.
âI donât exist, Kate. And now four new people know that I do. . .â You retorted back.
It was silent for a moment, the tension in the air thick. She was on the other side of the screen, but it felt like you were going to get into a physical fight with her anyways. âTheyâre trustworthy. I trust them with my life and the lives of millions upon millions. Just like I trust you. And as the only people that I trust, I need you to help them.â
âThey have already taken over my home. What more do you want from me?â You clenched your jaw, trying to prepare yourself for an answer you probably wouldnât like. Like hell were you going to play dorm mother to them and like hell you were going to just move out. The last thing you wanted was to take care of these men longer than necessary. This was already pushing that line for you.
âAthame.â She bluntly said. That was the worst answer she could have said. The confused looks the men gave each other made you grateful for a fleeting second. They didnât understand your secret codes and languages. But they will soon.
Your jaw was clenched so hard that your teeth ached. You damn near cracked them. While your voice before was dripping with venom, it was now drowning in it. âAre you fucking kidding me?!â
âHex, I-â
You finally came over, nearly pushing the captain out of the way in your warpath. Through the screen, Kate could see how angry you were. Not just angry, furious. She steeled herself, ready for your onslaught of curses, stopping herself midway through her explanation. âI donât do this shit, Kate! I work solo for a very particular fucking reason. And now you want me to work with four strange men?! Now you want me to play nice?! Iâm not a fucking soldier that can just be ordered around!â
âI know! I know. . . But. . . weâre desperate. Iâm desperate, Hex. Please, this is the last favor I will ever ask from you. This is an awful target weâre talking about. Someone that is better off in this world dead.â
âYou mean Makarov, right? Why should I clean up your governmentâs fuck-up? Again, might I add.â You spat. You lived off the grid and werenât a citizen of anywhere, but you still watched the news. You always knew what was going on in the world among other secrets. Makarov was a threat to the world, but as far as you were concerned, it wasnât your problem. If anything, the government needed this lesson as a direct consequence of their negligence and incompetence.Â
âBecause Chalice.â She simply stated, knowing that her final word was a last ditch effort. Chalice was an agreement that you two had made long ago. It could only be used once in your lives, a truly desperate resort for help. If one of you uttered it, then the other would have no choice but to help, no matter the request. That was the law between your friendship, among other things. The other code words were favors, but this was the ultimate one. Life or death.
You considered punching the laptop in anger. Right at Kateâs face. You didnât like her call for Athame or Chalice, but now you didnât have a choice but to comply. It didnât mean that you werenât still furious though. âFuck you, Kate.â
âThank you, Hex.â She breathed a sigh of relief. She wanted to tell you more about what she needed from you, but she knew that you had to cool off first otherwise you would burst into flames. That would've made things harder for all of you. So, she nodded as a signal for dismissal which you gladly took. You retreated to your room, locking the door shut and basking in the darkness.Â
You could feel the blood boil within you. It burned your insides and choked you. Grabbing your pillow, you pressed it against your face and screamed out your frustration. When that didnât help, you punched the exposed logs of your cabin wall until your knuckles were splintered and bleeding.
~
Ghost sat on the couch, his thoughts swirling with uncertainty. The rest of the meeting with Laswell was brief, wanting them to try to decompress for the next several hours. Sleep, eat, process. All in the comfort of an assassinâs home.Â
Compared to your personality, the cabin was decorated warmly. Everything was cozy, earthy, and fresh. The fire crackled comfortably, the plush couch was broken in, and every wooden piece of furniture looked hand-made. Bookshelves were filled with classic books and another shelf collected various music records. The only thing that seemed out of place was the lack of real personal mementos. No pictures, no art, not even knick-knacks. The others didnât seem to notice or care as they picked through the food left in the kitchen. But for Simon, it left him uneasy.
He recalled the briefing before they were sent to the middle of nowhere to you. Kate said that you were an old friend of hers from high school. You have been friends ever since, but you were different than most people. You were a deadly assassin unknown by the world. No records, no pictures, not even a birth certificate. You handled delicate problems with grace and grave justice. You always worked alone, you didnât trust others, and you were deadly. Everything about you was a secret until Kate made the crucial choice to ask for your help. Hell, they didnât even know your call sign until Kate said it over the video call.Â
âYou should eat, Lt. Thereâs a lot of options, but theyâre dwindling fast.â Soap patted him on the shoulder, awakening him from deep thought. Ghost looked up at the sergeant, watching him stuff a sandwich into his mouth. It looked like all the deli meat from one packet was in between the bread. No lettuce or tomato.Â
âIn a bit. Iâm gonna talk to Hex real quick and ask some questions.â He replied and got up from the couch.Â
Soap swallowed nervously. âKate said that sheâs gonna need time to cool off. . .â
âOur new member is part of the team now. Sheâs gonna have to get used to us even if she wants time for herself.â He justified it with a shrug of his shoulders. Soap shook his head and walked back into the kitchen, knowing that what Simon was about to do was most likely going to be a bad idea.
Ghost walked down the hall, observing each door as he passed them. Most of them were slightly open revealing extra bedrooms, an office, and a bathroom. Only two of them remained closed, both locked with keypads. For a second, he wondered which bedroom was yours before he could hear the sound of light music behind one of them along with swearing. It made him wonder what was behind the other door that was locked down.
Deciding to let it go for now, he approached your door and knocked. âHex, open up.â
He heard you let out a frustrated groan before the door opened up. It was only just enough to see you, the pure darkness behind you, and the blood dripping down your fists. He crossed his arms over his broad chest and quirked a brow that you couldnât see behind the mask. It didnât take a genius to realize what you had done. âAre you done throwing a temper tantrum?â
You scowled at him, a fire in your eyes that made Simonâs heart skip a beat which confused him. He wasnât afraid of you, so why would his heart alter its beat for you?
âIf I knew that you were just going to insult me, I wouldâve shot you dead on my porch.â You bitterly snapped, moving to close the door in his face. However, Ghost stopped it from slamming and took your hand in his, observing the damage youâve done to yourself.
Your breath caught in your throat. Electricity ran through you at his touch. When was the last time someone has touched you? You attempted to pull back, but his hand firmly gripped yours. âHey! What the fuck? Let go of me!â
âCalm down and let me see. It hurts, doesnât it? Stings?âÂ
You narrowed your eyes, but eventually nodded. It did sting and the dripping blood already stained your carpet. However, you could take care of it yourself. You didnât need some man coming in to try to fix you. âIâll be fine. I can tend to it myself.â
âFirst aid in the bathroom?â He asked, seeming to ignore your clear hint that you wanted to be alone.Â
Understanding that he probably wouldnât drop this until he saw gauze around your knuckles, you headed to the hall bathroom with a huff, opened up the cabinet, and took out the first aid kit. You then took a seat at the edge of the tub and began patching yourself up. Every now and then you looked up towards the doorway, making sure that the skull man was watching you take care of yourself. Without his help. Without anyoneâs help.
Finally, your hands were wrapped and the bleeding had stopped. You held up your hands towards him. âHappy now? Will you leave me alone now?â
âHex.â Ghost simply said as a warning. God, you were infuriating. An attitude problem was something he would normally be able to snuff out immediately. He did it all the time when training new soldiers. Not you though. New soldiers were like little candles, easily blown out of their fire with just a breath. You? You were like a raging forest fire. One that clearly had its own traumas over years of service that the world may never know.Â
You didnât like how he studied you. How his eyes trained on you were a mix between hatred, curiosity, and something else that you couldnât quite put your finger on. A magnetic pull that begged for you to look at him too. You also didnât like how he was trying to treat you like one of his rookie soldiers. The only thing you wanted to do to make it all stop was to push him away. âDonât talk to me like some new recruit straight out of school. Iâve already earned my place in the world with the amount of scars I have. So, donât treat me like Iâm under you. I wonât even let your captain talk to me like that.â
After putting the first aid back where it belonged, you attempted to leave the bathroom and retreat back to your bedroom. Yet, Ghost wasnât giving up just yet. His hold body blocked the bathroom exit. He was tall, strong, and sturdy. It wasnât hard for him to completely fill up the space. However, that didnât intimidate you. You got up close, and looked straight into those icy blues. Even with the black warpaint, you could tell that his lashes were meant to be blonde. Some of the paint had flecked off revealing some true color. You wondered what the rest of his face looked like for a second. Just a second.
You stood your ground, engaging in a heated staring contest. It was like lightning crackling between the two of you. After a while though, Simon finally gave in and held his hand up like a handshake. âLieutenant. They call me Ghost.âÂ
Hesitantly, you took his hand and firmly shook it, refusing to back down from a battle of wills. âHex. Thatâs all you will know me by.â
Suddenly, he pulled you in closer, your chest almost touching his. On instinct, you pulled a knife from the waistband of your underwear. It was the one you took with you earlier for the showdown at the door. You held it to his neck, blade dipping in until you could feel the push back of skin. Ghost didnât flinch or jump back at your defense. Instead, he whispered into your ear that he wanted to get close to in the first place. âAs hard as you may try to fight it, youâre going to know me. And Iâm going to know you.â
You bit back the shiver that went down your spine from the whisper, aching to slice his throat in retaliation. Chalice had you pinned, though. You had to avoid killing the people you are going to be working with at the very least.Â
Ghost slowly backed up and headed back towards the kitchen for some food, leaving you to process what just happened. You silently walked back to your room without looking back at him, ears turning red and heart racing unnaturally. You didnât want to give him any satisfaction by giving him any more attention. However, Simon was already somewhat satisfied.Â
Yet, there was a part of him that wanted more.
Soap was eating a piece of lasagna when he walked in. Gaz and Price were quietly conversing at the other end of the island. It took a lot of food to fill up men like them. It wouldnât take long for them to eat you out of your house and home unfortunately.Â
âSo, how did it go?â Soap nosely inquired. As Simon surveyed the food before picking out a tupperware full of stew, he shrugged casually.
âShe almost sliced my head off.â
Soap suppressed a chuckle and did his best impersonation of Laswell. âSounds like it went smoothly then.â

A Manic Attempt to Sell You on the Atlas Frame:
You ever want to get the effective range and speed of teleportation without actually teleporting? Feel the urge to play fruit ninja with your enemies? Ever want to experience the sweet sweet taste of victory while your mind melds with the hundreds who came before you and you no longer know which you is the real you? Then my friend, the Atlas is the frame for you!
You can Titan Fall wall run, hide in plain sight, get a sickass katana, clothesline people with a zip line, and then the lore of inherited memories is just- *chefâs kiss*
If speed is what youâre after, then put a lot of points in Agility and make a few strategic picks for your talents and you too can cross a hex map in a single turn, snag the objective, and still be able to barrage or just âđź disappear.
And donât get me started on the lore!
*Slaps Atlas*
This bad boy can fit so much lore in it! Memories of past pilots merging with your own to help you fight better? Fuck yes! You can flavor it as a constant data stream into the brain! Space magic! Ghosts! Grey matter in the mechâs internal components! Your pilot can start to slowly pick up the ticks and traits of past pilots the longer they use the Core Power! Hell, my flash cloned pilot was given the Atlas to try and force reboot their brain to make them remember the person they used to be (didnât work! Just fucked them up!). The possibilities are endless!
Do you have great HP? No. Do you have a large repair cap? No. Heat cap? Nope. Will you immolate yourself the moment you overcharge? Absolutely. But when youâre playing a speed oriented striker Atlas build you donât need high HP or a massive repair cap when god himself canât beat your evasion!
If you main an Atlas you know youâre running a glass cannon and thatâs okay! Because Atlas pilots do it for the love of the fucking game and the risk is half the reward!

I had been hunting with Sam and Dean for about a year now. I met them on a ghost hunt in Texas, where we both showed up to the same house. I was thankful they showed up when they did, saving me from getting blown in the head by a spirit. After the hunt, we kind of just clicked and they decided to take me in. Sam said something about not âletting you leave to die alone on some stupid huntâ. Dean agreed. Honestly, they needed the touch of a woman in the bunker, lighten up the mood some. Sam and I often did research together, finding new monsters and ways to kill them. While Dean and I mostly drank beers and played first person shooter games. Call of duty was our favorite. I was thankful they gave me a permanent place to stay. For The first time in my life I had my own room and the closest thing to family. Bobby quickly became like an uncle to me, helping anytime I needed him.Â
After a few hours of driving, we made it to a quiet town outside Charleston. Over the past few weeks there have been a number of strange deaths. A man choking on tens of razor blades, supposedly in candy. A woman drowned while bobbing for apples. It was clear a case was here. Sam and I had hit the books hard, studying a few different monsters that fit the case profile. When we got to the town, a short interview with the manâs wife resulted in many answers. While Sam and I spoke with the widow, Dean without any struggles, was able to find a hex bag behind the fridge and air vent. Clearly, we were dealing with a brave witch. One with a good amount of power. After a few hours of different interviews and flash in our fake FBI badges, Sam was able to locate a house where we presumed the witch dwelled. The perfect hiding place for her curses and magic. It was a lone house in the middle of a field, abandoned for years.
I sat in the back of the Impala as Dean drove behind the house, concealing the car behind a row of thick oak trees. The yard was overgrown, tall dead grass covered the back steps of the house. A fog had rolled in and the wind was blowing like a tornado. The steps to the house were made of cracked cement, gravel-covered and brittle. Inside, the walls were painted a cool brown, but many patches of the paint had piled away, revealing the bare walls underneath. The color, once lively, had turned to a dust dull shell of itself. Huge windows revealed the moonlight. Their wooden panes were broken. Glass was completely missing out of a few while others looked like rocks had been thrown into them, allowing the wind to hiss through.Â
The air was thick and musty, dust seen flying with the naked eye. As we stepped, the floorboards creaked, a hiss echoing throughout the house's empty frame. Broken glass and trash littered the floor. We walked through the living room, Sam close behind me with his gun drawn. Symbols of red, maybe blood, were painted along the entrances of door frames. Some I recognized to keep out demons and angels. Dean made his way through a short dark hallway, lit only by the flashlight he carried. Â
âGuys, over hereâ, Dean called out. Toward the end of the hallway was a locked door, which stood out from the lack of dust on the handle bars.Â
âSomeone has definitely been in hereâ, Sam whispered. Amongst the rest of the house, the door looked brand new. Dean swiftly kicked the door open, revealing a steep set of stairs descending to the ground. Sam went first, his tall frame obstructing my view below. I went next while Dean traveled close behind. The wooden steps creaked with every movement we made, reverberating all around us. I gripped the handrail, feeling the old rotted wood slightly crack under my grip. We finally reached the bottom of the steps, revealing a big dark room with cluttered boxes and left behind furniture. I searched for a light switch. It was freezing, and I could barely see the walls throughout the darkness. The ceilings were short, Sam almost having to bend over in an attempt to not hit his head.Â
âAlright, watch your stepâ, Sam whispered. Dean and I nodded our heads, trying to step through the piles of old boxes.Â
After searching the walls and ceiling, I found a string hanging in the center of the room. I pulled it and a dimly lit light shined. It wasn't bright but it was enough to add light to the space. With more light, we were about to see a corner of the room previously hidden. This corner was different from the rest of the space, less dust and no clutter. Sam approached the corner, finding a broken-down table filled with various items for a spell. It was dark oak, covered with a thick black cloth. It seemed to be a makeshift space for spells and curses, animal bones dangling from the filling above. In the center of the table a bronze bowl sat. A single human heart inside. Blood riddled the table, red drops aligning the bowl. A slightly opened box set next to the bow, filled with stones and various herps. It looked like a mixture of dried roses, egg shells, and a thick white paste I couldn't recognize. There were numerous candles, the wax was still dripping down. Whatever was here was still close by.
âWhat the hell?â Sam sounded perplexed, trying to figure out what spell the ingredients might be for. He knew he had seen this before but couldn't recall its purpose. Dean and I stood behind him, observing the scene. Each of us gripped our guns, witch killing bullets inside.
As we stood with our backs turned to the rest of the space, the light began to flicker and candles laid out on the table lit themselves. The air grew even colder and a loud scream like cry was let out. The three of us turned around quickly. Shadows advanced across the room as a woman dressed in a long worn-out cloak appeared. Her hair was long and matted. Silently, she brought up her hand, revealing long black nails and unleashing a force that knocked Sam over, onto the table. Sam let out a painful grunt as he crashed into the table. The bowl of blood and the heart spilled over him, and he quickly threw it off him. He laid for a second, turning his back and wincing. Sam let out a gag as he tried to wipe the blood away, remnants stuck to his shirt and hands.Â
The witch began to chant something in Latin. A few words I made out were âdesiderium, opus, flammaâ. Her voice rang out and Dean began to get impatient. Dean shot several rounds, but sheâs able to deflect them. She threw the gun from Deanâs hand, sending it flying across the room and landing hard on the floor. With her magic, she lifted Dean and I into the air, choking us as our feet left the ground. Sam was quick to stand, shooting back at her as he pulled himself off the table. It was a good distraction as a couple of bullets flew past her. She vanished, dropping Dean and I onto the floor. I sat, gripping at my neck as I tired to catch my breath fucking witches. She appeared again, grabbing Sam in a chokehold as she gripped tightly across his back. Dean quickly reached behind him, pulling out another good from the holster attached to his belt. The witch was smart, not giving Dean a good angle to shoot her that wouldn't hurt Sam too. In my pocket I pulled out a small hex bag Bobby packed for us. Back to the basics I guess. I searched the room for a bowl, eyeing the one Sam threw off him a couple feet away. With the witch focused on Sam and Dean, I was able to run and grab it, blood sticky on the outside. The witch began whispering in Sam's ear. He trashed, trying to get her off him. He was able to knock her loose a bit. Dean took his chance to run at her, using the butt of his gun and slamming it against her head. She let out a groan and knocked Dean to the floor. I pulled out a match from my shirt pocket, striking it quickly as I threw the hex back into the bowl. I threw the match into the mixture and chanted the incantation Bobby taught us, âFuror divine virtute in infernum eam detrudeâ and threw the ingredients on to her. A thick cloud of black smoke engulfed her and blood began to pour from her eyes and mouth. She screamed and flames came from the ground, leaving ash as she quickly vanished to nothing.Â
âGlad I practiced that,â I laughed. Sam grabbed Dean off the ground. Dean patted dust and a few spider webs off his pants.
âDude, you reekâ. Dean laughed as he looked Sam up and down, blood covering his shirt, hands, and a bit of his neck.Â
âTake me home.â Same frowned, unbuttoning his flannel shirt and throwing it on the ground.Â
I took a few pictures of the ingredients used on the table and the heart Sam threw by a mess of boxes and old junk. âFor our research,â I explained as the boys asked what I was up to. âNever seen that before,â I mumbled mostly to myself.Â
The boys and I made our way out of the darkness of the house, a creepy vibing causing me goosebumps. When we got back to the Impala, Sam quickly unbuttoned his flannel, throwing it in the truck of the Impala. He dug through our duffle bag of supplies, pulling out multiple bottles of water. He poured them onto his chest, trying to wash away as much blood as possible Without any access to soap or a shower. I tried not to stare but it was honestly a great sight to see.Â
âSammy, come on. Ain't staying out here all dayâ. Dean called as he got into the driver seat, Baby purring out as he turned the key.Â
Sam let out a disgusted moan and climbed into the back seat.Â
âNo one is hurt, right?â I questioned, looking back at Sam and over at Dean. I sat in the shotgun seat, inspecting my body for any cuts.Â
âI'm good, just stinkyâ Sam huffed out.Â
âStinky is an understatementâ, Dean shot out. Luckily our hotel wasnât too far away. Only about 25 minutes out.Â
Dean turned up the radio, blasting Metalica.Â
âWhat the hell was that witch saying anyway?â Sam asked. âI didn't recognize those sets of ingredients at all.â
Dean drove with one hand, tapping the steering wheel to the music. âWhatever it is, she's dead now. I say good riddance bitchâ he smirked.Â
Sam nodded his head, his eyes suddenly heavy. After a few minutes, he was slumped over in the back seat heavily breathing and lightly snoring.
I shot an eyebrow at Dean âheâs tired,â I laughed.
We drove for a few more minutes, finally arriving back at the cheap motel we all shared a room in. I was exhausted. I swear Dean almost passed out on the road a few times himself. Although our fight wasn't much, the day as a whole was long and drowned out. I Knew I wouldn't get much rest tonight, my adrenaline too high to let my body relax. Sam was still knocked out, his body heavy and worn.Â
âSammy, SammyâŚâ I lightly pushed against him, shaking his body awake.Â
Sam opened his eyes, blinking a few times. He rubbed his eyes with his palm, adjusting to the lights of the Impala shining above.Â
âWeâre here already? Guess I feel asleepâ. He mumbled. His voice was always so thick when he woke up. I tried to ignore it and focused on grabbing our stuff out of the car.
Dean parked the car just outside the room. Could never sleep too far from his precious Baby. Sam dragged his body out of the impala. He was a sweaty mess, dragging his finger through his long brown hair. He stumbled as he got out of the car, missing his first step.
âWow, you okay?â I asked as I grabbed him by the shoulders.
Dean shrugged his shoulders walking closely behind us.Â
âI just feel really really hot. Iâm nauseous as hell.â Sam took another step forward. I could feel his body shaking. His breathing was unsteady and fast.
âMaybe you got car sick, let's get inside and I'll see what we haveâ. I held my grip tight on Sam, scared he was going to fall over.Â
I supported as much of Samâs weight as I could as I walked him up the few steps to the door, his big hand gripping tight around my waist.Â
âDude, what happened to you?â Dean asked, opening the door and throwing our bags down on the floor.Â
âI don't know, I'm just so hot. Like my skin is crawling on fire. I need a fanâ Sam's face was balled up uncomfortably. He kicked his shoes off, throwing them in the corner of the room. I led him to one of the beds, trying to set his heavy body down as softly as possible.Â
âHere, just sit. I'm gonna get you something. Try to relaxâ. I hurried to the kitchen area grabbing some aspirin I sat on the counter earlier and a cold water bottle out of the fridge.Â
Sam groaned as he laid face down in the fetal position, waiting for me to get with the medicine.Â
âHere take this,â I leaned down, gently placing the pills in his hands and undoing the cap of the water bottle.Â
âGod, Sam. Your forehead is hot as hell. You need a shower,â I smiled slightly but I tried my best to take the situation seriously. It was clear he was in a lot of pain.
âOkay, okay. I'm gonna go.â Sam dragged his big frame up painfully, his hands close to his lower stomach. âIâm gonna throw up,â he mumbled as he rushed to the bathroom.Â
âWhat the hell is going on with him?â I asked Dean, who had already made his way to the fridge pulling out a beer and a cold pizza.Â
âI don't know. I mean he was fine before left that houseâŚâ Dean thought for a moment. âThe witch. I saw her whispering something to him. You don't think, maybe it's still affecting him?â He had a bit of concern in his face now.
As we spoke, I heard Samâs groans coming from the bathroom and water starting from the shower.Â
âLet me see those pictures you took,â Dean rushed over. He grabbed my phone, scrolling through the pictures.Â
âI don't recognize this at all. Seems like a pretty unique spell.â I whispered in an attempt to keep Sam from hearing.Â
I listened closely as Sam continued letting out painful groans and heavy breathing from the bathroom.Â
âCall Bobby, I'm gonna check on him.â I stood, knocking on the bathroom door.Â
âY-yeah, c-come in.â Sam crocked.
I walked in slowly, steam filling the small bathroom. âSammy, I thought you were hot. Probably want cold waterâ I stated confused.
âGod, my skin is itching. I need like, I don't know. I needâŚpressureâ, Sam blurted out quickly.
âPressure?â I asked confused.
âYeah. I-I don't know. Something is seriously wrong with me. Feel like I'm gonna burst into flames but the hot water is helping.â Sam stood in the shower, his arms out, pressed against the wall to balance him. He tilted his head down, the water bouncing off his long hair and onto his body. As he looked down, he noticed another problem. He was hard. Like harder than heâd ever been his whole life. His dick was bright red and the sound of my voice ringing out across the room made it jump with every word I spoke.Â
âY/n, I-I need you to uh, need to to get out,â Samâs voice was like a whimper. Pain and need thick from his throat.Â
âOh, okay. Just call my name if you need anything.â I tried to sound pleasant even though he just kicked me out when I was trying to help.Â
When I walked out the bathroom, Dean was pacing back and forth. âOkay, well. Hold on, y/n is here now.â Dean put the phone on speaker, Bobbyâs voice ringing out.
âOkay, y/n tell me everything you remember.â Bobby spoke.
âWell, there was a human heart, a lot of blood. Some herbs that looked like different flowers. Red roses maybe. There were like fifteen candles. I think they were pink. And she whispered something to Sam. Before that she spoke a few words. I think desiderium, opus, and flamma. That was all I could make out. Honestly, not sure what any of them mean.â I tried to recall as much as the events as I possibly could.Â
The door to the bathroom gently opened a crack. âY/n, could you uh, hand me some clothes?â Sam mumbled. He stood in the doorway, water dripping down his tanned skin.Â
I quickly dugg in his bag, pulling out a pair of black boxers and a loose t-shirt. I handed it to him as he poked his hand out slightly through the door. âHere you go.â I smiled. My fingers brushed against slightly and Sam let out a whining sound. Not really like he was in pain, more like he needed something.Â
I walked back to the phone, listening for more information from Bobby. âI mean, the roses made me think itâs gotta be a love spell. But the heart? That would be so, etching for intense power. Iâm gonna do some research, call you back as soon as I find something.â I heard books opening as Bobby hung up the phone.Â
Sam walked out of the bathroom, his hair shaggy and wet. He looked like a mess.Â
âSammy, you good?â Dean asked, meeting Samâs eyes.Â
âYeah, yeah. I feel a bit better.â He lied, laying back down on the bed.Â
âListen, I'm going to find a gas station that's still open. Get you some tea or some shit.â Dean spoke fast. âCall me if anything changes. Won't be gone long.â
Sam nodded his head, too strung out to answer.
I sat on the edge of the bed offering Sam a smile. He forced one out in return but I could tell it wasn't genuine.
âCan you turn on the Tv, need a distraction?â Samâs head was tilted back, leaning against a pillow and the bed frame. He closed his eyes tight, and pulled the covers over him.Â
âOf course,â I replied, grabbing the remote and flipping to the first free channel. A documentary about space played, âSeems relaxing,â I stated.Â
Sam nodded, not really paying any attention to what played. âI'll be right back okay, just stay here.â I walked to the bathroom grabbing my back. I changed quickly into a big shirt, a graphic T with a photo of Star Wars, ditching my sweater and bra on the bathroom floor. I pulled my jeans off and underwear off, replacing it with a pair of black Nike shorts. I was so ready to be out of those sweaty clothes.Â
Sam stayed still, counting down the seconds I was gone. Every step I took away from him caused a shoot pain to ring out through his body. He was craving me, his dick still has hard ever, even after trying to jerk off in the shower. He brought his hand down to his member, snaking it under his shorts and pumping up and down a bit. It provided a bit of relief but he needed more. Needed you gripping onto him.Â
When I walked back into the room, Sam was in the same position. His face was a bit more constricted than before. He looked at me, his eyes half opened. âThat's my shirt,â he mumbled.
âSorry, it was the first thing I grabbed when we left the bunker.â I smiled, climbing back in the bed next to him. âNeed anything?â I asked softly.
âYeah, I think. I umâŚnot sure how to say this but I think I need youâ Sam looked into my eyes, pleading.
âWell, I'm right here. Just tell me what you need me to do.â I sat up more, meeting his eyes.
âNo. I mean like. GodâŚMy head was killing me but the closer you get, the better iâm feeling. Itâs like my body is aching for you.â Samâs face was serious but gentle.
âI don't understand what you meanâ. My cheeks turned a bright red.
From across the room, my phone rang out, a high-pitched melody playing. I jumped up, grabbing it from the bar. âItâs Bobbyâ.
âY/n? Think I found somethingâŚSomething weird. Real weird. Bobby's voice rang out as I put him on speaker.
âWell, spit it out, Bobby. What are you waiting for?â I asked impatiently.
âOkay, okay. I think Sam is under a nympho spell.â
âNympho spell? What the hell is that?â
âWell from what I'm reading, it's a sex spell. Kind of like what a siren uses. Lowers men into a witch's trap so they are more easily seduced.âÂ
âWhat? So it's like viagra in a spell? How do we fix it?â I looked over at Sam, his face hit and flushed.
âWell, the lore says men who fought off the spell but die from an intense fever. So as nicely as I can say this, Sam needs a piece of ass.â Bobby sounded a bit grossed out by that.Â
âOkay, but the witch is dead? What am I supposed to do, stand on a corner and wait for a lady to offer herself right up?â
âNo, no. The spell is focused on one person. You just need to figure out who that is.â
I thought for a moment, taking in Bobbyâs words. âThat makes senseâŚBobby, I gotta go.â I hung up the phone quickly, meeting Samâs eyes from across the room. He brought a pillow up to his hips, gripping it tight. Â
I grabbed the phone again and called Dean.
âHey, is he good?â Dean spoke.
âTalked to Bobby and um. Well, he basically told me Sam has a sex curse that can only be cured if weâŚya knowâŚdo it.â
Dean was quiet for a moment before he started laughing. âSo y'all gotta, what, just fuck?â He blurted out.Â
âListen, just don't come back to the room. I'll see if this works. And Dean?âŚI never want to speak about this night ever again.â I whispered.
âAlright alright, just be careful. Don't do anything you don't want to. I'll get the room next door.âÂ
I hung up, placing the phone back on the counter and walking over to Sam. I swallowed deeply. It's not like I haven't thought about it before, just thought it would happen differently, I guess.Â
âSammy, I think youâre right. Think you might actually really needâŚme.â I approached him slowly, kind of afraid of what my words might do to him. Sam was gripping the sheets under him, biting his lip so hard I think he might have drawn blood.Â
âI think you're under a spell, sammy. One I can help with, if youâll let me.â I stood at the foot of the bed waiting for his answer. God, okay. Please, Please. Just need to make this go away. Please.â He sounded almost drunk, slurring and groaning at each plea. I can't lie, it was making me go crazy too.Â
âOkay, I will. I promise this will workâ. I hoped it would anyway.
I swallowed and made myself more confident. I can do this. I will do this. Besides, I couldn't just let him sit here and die like this. I climbed up the bed, sprawling myself on top of Sam. My hips lined up with his. I immediately noticed Sam became relaxed, the grip on the sheets loosen and his eyes finally open.Â
âY/N, what are you doing?â Sam spoke, his voice calm now. His hand immediately reached for my waist, pushing me down on top of him. âI donât know if I can stop if you let me start. I swear I never felt a need like this before.â Sam's eyes pleaded with me.Â
âItâs okay⌠I just want to make you better. Just do whatever you need. Iâll be fine.â I met Samâs eyes, smiling a bit. I was nervous and I knew he was right. He wouldn't be able to hold back at all.Â
Sam looked me in the eyes before quickly slamming me down on the mattress, hovering over me. âIâm so sorry y/n but this is gonna hurt.â Sam spoke before pinning my arms above my head and crashing his lips against mine.Â
He let out a groan at the kiss, bucking his hips into me for any sort of friction he could manage. He tasted like mint and smelled like fresh pine. I tried to keep up with the kiss as he sucked my bottom lip, dancing his tongue around mine.Â
I roughly ended the kissing, ripping my shirt shorts off and throwing them across the room. The air sent a cold chill through me. Sam placed a string of kisses down my neck, sucking hard leaving a trail of dark purple bruises after every touch. A part of me loved that they would stay for days.Â
Sam quickly pulled his own short off, his cock free. I watched as he grabbed his thick member, pumping it roughly. He had the biggest dick ive ever seen in person. Probably around eight inches and at least an one and a half inches thick. God, would that even fit? I guess it made sense, seeing as how the rest of his body was so big.Â
Sam brought my legs up, putting him around his shoulder and lined his cock up with my entrance. I brace myself as he slammed into me without any warm up. No mercy.Â
He dragged himself through me, slamming into my cervix so hard I would feel it for days. âFuck sammy, feel you in my stomach.â I screamed.
âBe a good girl for me, give me that tight pussy.â Sam growled loudly, ripping through me with so much force I was already coming. A thick clear liquid leaked out of me, onto the base of Samâs cock.Â
Sam showed no signs of stopping, no care that I was already a creaming mess under him. He kept his pace fast and rough. âFucking clench that pussy around me. Such a good little girl.â Sam growled.Â
He brought a hand to my neck, gripping it tight. It was the perfect pressure at first, but he gripped down tighter, making all the air escape me. I tried to get him to stop but my words only came out as interrupted whines. He gripped harder, causing my yes to fall a bit. The room spun and I began seeing black. I swear I actually passed out before Sam finally let go, pumping into me harder and harder.Â
âSammy, please. It's too big, too much.â I did my best to get him to slow down.Â
âNo, itâs not. Be a good girl and take it.â He replied back.Â
I felt myself go over the edge again, digging my nails hard into his back. I knew my nails would leave marks. Sam showed no signs of pain, in fact I think he liked it.Â
âTried to warn you, baby. Told you it would hurt.â Sammy mumbled, âOpen your mouth little girl.â
I followed his instructions, a bit scared what he would do if I didn't. Sam leaned down, holding my cheeks and spitting roughly in my mouth. It was hot and thick as I swallowed, causing me to gag a bit.Â
âSuch a good girl. I love you, you know that?â Sam finally slowed his pace for a moment, meeting his eyes with mine. âFucking love you so much, swear I always have.â He pressed his lips onto mine again. This kiss was different, slow and gentle.Â
âOh fuck, Sammy. Iâm gonna cum again. Please. I canât. I can'tâ My words were like cries as the head board slammed against the wall of the hotel. Â
âMmh, I know you can baby. Know you have more in you. Donât give up on me now.â He mocked me, using a bit of a whining voice.Â
His cock was driving me crazy. I could hardly keep my legs on his shoulders anymore.Â
Another orgasm ripped through me. I started feeling like I was going to pee, a sensation I never felt heavy in the back of my pussy. âSammy, Plea-â.
Sam cut me off as he quickly pulled his couch out, sending mu juices out like a water hose. âFuck baby, got you fucking squirting for me already.â Sam bragged.Â
I screamed his name, my back arching off the bed as he slammed back into me over and over. Tears filled my eyes as I begged him to cum, wet streaks falling down my face. He whipped them away with his thumb and brought it to my lips. I parted them slightly and began sucking. âThatâs it baby. Just relax, let daddy do his job.â Same whispered deep in my ear. The name echoed through my thoughts. Didnât expect him to like that.Â
âFuck, daddy. Please. I can't cum anymore. Daddy, please cum. Please cum inside me.â my arms fell by my side, no strength to keep them up anymore.Â
âFuck y/n so nasty for me. Want me to fucking cum? Breed this tight little pussy, huh?â He was condensing, slapping his balls against the base of my pussy like a maniac.Â
âPlease, Daddy. Just want you to cum.â I moaned weakly.Â
Sam growled as he sped up his pace, moaning my name over and over again. I felt a warm liquid shoot into me as he began slowing down, dropping his body weight on top of me.Â
I moaned and cried as I felt him go soft inside me, only pulling out when rolled over.Â
Sam turned to me, placing soft kisses onto my lips and dragging me onto him in a hug.
âY/N, you okay? Iâm so sorry I didnât mean to hurt you? What do you need?â Sam rambled as I shook on top of him, a mess of juices.Â
âLet me clean you up.â Sam stood walking to the bathroom and running warm water under a rag. He softly spread my legs a bit, whipping up and sign of him. I moaned, closing my legs to try and stop the sensation and pressure on my clit.
Oh Fuck, I, bruised you. Iâm so sorry y/n. Let me see.â Sam spoke as he moved my hair away from my neck, a string of hickey and bruised from his finger bright red.
âI-Iâm okay. Just need you here with meâ I moaned.Â
Sam gently sat back on the bed, caressing my back and letting out quiet âShhâsâ.
âI did mean it. When I said I loved you,â Sam quietly spoke, placing soft kisses on my shoulder.Â
âI know. Love ya too, Sammyâ.

Hex Positive, Ep. 042 - Extended Warren Tea with Jenn the Ouija Girl and Lorelei Rivers
Now available on your favorite podcast app!
Happy New Year, witches! While weâre recovering from the mad rush of the holiday season, Iâm sitting down with returning friend of the show Jenn the Ouija Girl and new pal from the tumblrverse Lorelei Rivers to both drink AND the spill the tea on those ghost-hunting grifters we all love to despise, Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Discussions about the careers and rhetoric of the Warrens make the rounds regularly in discussions about the paranormal among members of the witchcraft community. But who were the Warrens? Why do they inspire such ire even as the Conjuring franchise gains steam? How much of what we think we know about the supernatural comes from them? And why is it important to recognize â and refute â their rhetoric when we encounter it?
The Critical Thinking Witch Collect will be having a free virtual brew January 20th! Join me and Julie Bloomfield as we discuss glamours and self image. Sign up on their website: â http://www.criticalthinkingwitches.comâ .

Precious Things: Chapter 1
Plot: Rio visits Westview after The Hex comes down and finds Agnes O'Conner in Agatha's stead. She must team up with an unlikely ally to help get her wife back and confront the past to make sense of the future ahead. (Agathario x Rio/Mrs Hart unlikely friendship)
---
The beep of machines is a reliable monotone to measure the accrual of time to itâs exact and precise end. There was a knack, in her experience. A correct moment that was neither a heartbeat early nor a single beat overdue. The strangely comforting taste of artificial banana pudding felt as good a place as any to ground her overworked thought processes. Rio blew out her cheeks and straightened her criss-crossed ankles, elbows dug into the arm rests, prodding the plastic spoon around with marked disinterest.
She was putting off the inevitable.
Largely, because Agatha had been putting off the inevitable - for such a long, long time. The Scarlet Witch had taken the Darkhold. Agatha finally vulnerable. The dark magic that had shrouded her all of these centuries had lifted like a veil. Rio could feel that Agatha hadnât run or attempted to evade the inevitable this time.
Perhaps she was finally ready.
âI imagined you differently.â
Rio stopped moving the plastic spoon.Â
The ghost of a smile tugged up her lips, because they always imagined her differently, whether she came in one form or anotherâfriend or foeâall of it was subjective, always it was some other version of her they had imagined and built up in their head. Ink black linen shrouds and milk white bones. Deep green aspen leaves ornately woven into clothes with spun spider silk stitching, rust coloured gold, dried sea moss for beading. Rio laughed quietly, amused on private levels, she was never dressed correctly for the occasion.Â
Her lips tapered down into a serious expression. âDo you want to finish this?â Rio glanced at the frail elderly man drowning in his blankets and wires. âYou always think you know how banana pudding tastes until youâre eating it, and then you realise it doesnât taste like bananas at all. It tastes like something else. Something pretending to be a banana. Strange, right?â She angled the dessert toward him.
âWill there be banana pudding where Iâm going, orâŚâ His voice was a strained murmur - the whites of his eyes a dull cloudy colour. He gestured his finger downward.
Hell.
Rioâs expression gave nothing away.
She said nothing in response and idly scraped the spoon around.
âNot the time or place for that conversation, got it.â He nods perceptively. âJill. Will she be there?â
âThereâs only one way to find out.â
âKinda hope she isnât.â
âTrust me, I know that feeling better than you think I do.â
âYou do?â
Rio smiles, nodding slightly, and with that the tension breaks.
He draws a laboured breath. âWere you human once? You lookâŚâ Rio watches him gesture her up and down.
From the corner of her eye, the hospice nurses offer discrete, confirming nods. The kind that never require further conversation. Rio resists the sudden urge to show him her faceâher true faceâin response to his prying. The staff all knew when Rio visited. They knew when she left. She was a regular in this neck of the woods, a person they could feel in the air like the scent of perfume - invisible and entirely distinct. She didnât like to trouble them anymore than they troubled her.
Sometimes, they caused her trouble.
But never the hospice nurses.
âI donât know if thereâs banana pudding. And thereâs been a lot of Jills, far too many to remember. And I think you know Iâm not here to talk about myself, donât you?â Rio levels at the elderly man. âIâm here to do my job.â
âDo you enjoy your work?â
There isnât time for this - the back and forth.
The question amuses her nonetheless.
âNot particularly. I punch-in, punch-out, I do it very well, if that gives you any comfort. Did youâŚhave a job like that?â
âYeah, I wish now I hadnât.â
âWell.â Rio pushes out her cheeks, slightly exasperated. âToo late for regrets.â
âEverythingâŚhurts.â He looks at her tiredly. âCan we take the pudding to go?âÂ
Rio likes that.
That makes her smile.Â
âSure we can.â
A deep peaceful sigh left him - he was finally ready.
Expectantly, the elderly man extends his weathered hand toward her. His fingertips graze against her fingertips, wrinkly and warm, ready to be taken away from this place despite the fear of her never leaving him for a moment, as though with the lightest tug of his wrist he could rise from the bed, light as a feather, and Death will take him for a long scenic walk to the next place beyond this world.
Rio took his hand gently.
âHold this for me a sec.â Rio precariously rested the banana pudding cup on his collarbone. She took the blade from her thigh, haphazardly tossing it round to catch the handle, then quickly stabbed his chest several times as though jabbing a hot pen knife into butter. âThanks.â She flipped and holstered the blade - the soul collected.
She let go of his limp wrist, allowing it fall down against his stilled chest in a thud. The alarms bleeted loudly into the echoing long corridor - then the cries, always the cries of concerned family and visitors with no further business that concerned her - Rio left and thought nothing of their distress.
They always imagine her so differently.
Express delivery only, Rio had a busy night ahead.
She had to be in Westview come sunrise.
***
Deep and dark was the persistent endless night. The entire mountain fell upon her in a storm of heavy jagged rocks and unbreathable, thick sharp dust that scraped her skin and stung her eyes as it slowly settled. The stagnant heat of harsh beating sunlight, somewhere out there beyond the persistent constant dark, was how Wanda kept track of the time. In the evenings, the cool air brought damp cold mildew which coated the boulders pressing every inch of her body, and the water droplets struck her forehead from a single crack above in awkward unpredictable rhythms. The first night, she willed her survival.
Perhaps Kamar-Taj would pity her once Stephen explained the condition of her maddening grief. He would save her, of course. He had to save her. He was a hero. The Sorcerer Supreme, the protector of earth, the lone sworn sentinel against magic and mystical threats out there between the darkest shades of reality. And what was she?
Who was she if not a hero?Â
A woman relentlessly tormented into madness.
Perhaps this was the condition of all villains, Wanda decided.
The third night came, the sound of scraping rocks and movement disturbing her tomb above finally greeted her ears. She strained into the noise, welcomed it like a friend, then thought of her sons and felt her heart retreat backward in shame. The fourth night, the digging grew louder, and tears carved across her dry scabbed lips. Wanda clung to life like a leech. She hungered to survive. Lame, broken, disfigured and dying, she fought with insurmountable will to save herselfâto persevere against the mountain.
Until she heard the faint howls.
The hungry snarls of scavenging pack animals disturbing the sediment above.
Wanda went slack, still, quiet and madder than her body could contain. Nobody was coming to save her. She closed her eyes, summoning her scarlet, imagining herself provoking wefts of bright glorious red from her palms, how the dust and sheets of rock would explode outward around her. She would rise in a tide of chaos, fire and glorious redâbright, burning scarlet.
But nothing came.
And Wanda wept and finally wished for Death.
âI have waited so long to say these words to youâŚâ A woman in a crown of obsidian black glass laid beside her as though she had always been there. âHello, Wanda Maximoff.â
She is there but not there. She is contorted around the jagged rock, her body stretched like ribbon strewn around each obstacle, more viper than womanâmore creature than person. A dull green light exudes from her, bright enough to make Wanda wince and turn her cheek, but she feels sharp nails slip along her belly, her ribs, calling back her attention. She smells petrichor andâŚ
Fermenting fruit, rotting cherries, the kind her step-father would stew and seal tightly in jars stacked neatly under the dank kitchen sink, and how the pungent smell of spoiled black cherries and sugar separating into alcohol would puncture their home as the jars were filtered months later, how she would slip into bed with Piotr and cradle his ears when their step-father drank to much of it, how their mother would place herself in front of the bedroom door like a barricade and bear the brunt of it.
A voice rumbles low like an earthquake, âLook at me.â
Wanda obeys instantly, terrified and without other choices to make.
Her fear delights Death.
Wandaâs voice frays with inactivity, âYou came. I imagined you soâŚâ
âDifferently. Mhm. The nameâs Rio.â She cranes her neck to get a better look, assessing the damage. âYour hips are shattered. Pretty nasty cranial bleed. Traumatic amputation at both knees, yuck. Your elbow is broken inâŚthree places? That must beââher eyebrows go upward in amazement, her head nodding enthusiasticallyââPretty painful, huh?â
âPlease make it stop?â
âI will.â Rio smiles. âIn time.â
Wanda watched in horror as the faint dull green smog begins to fade like the flicker of a dying candle. âWhere are you going!â
âYou took something special from me.â Rio stares down at the Scarlet Witch. âSomebody I have loved very, very much for centuries, Wanda. I donât like it when people take my things.â
âDonât leave me here!âÂ
âThen tell me how to lift the spell?â
âThe spell?â
âThe nasty little hex you trapped her in for the last nine months!â The woman rears forward with maddening grief in her eyes. âGive her back to me and then we can talk about your mortal soul.â
There is no further explanation needed, Wanda understands perfectly well, knows exactly who Death is referring to. Agatha Harkness. She doesnât know how to admit the truthâhow to tell her the only answer she has to offer.
âYou donât know how to lift it.â Rio closes her eyes. âWell, Wanda, until we figure that out? Iâll know exactly where to find you. Thatâs what you said to her, right?â
âPlease donât do this.â Wanda lurches forward. âPlease! Please take me with you, Iâll help you! I swear. PleaseâŚplease you have to take me from this place!â
âI said I would take you, didnât I?â Death plays with the tip of an ornate knife. âYou just have to suffer for a little bit first. Agatha would like that. Letâs circle back in a few days. Youâre not going anywhere, Iâm sure youâll be available,â her voice and light fades away.
