One One Piece movie I don't like is The Cursed Holy Sword.

Zoro is so ooc that he attacks Sanji and damages his arm. Zoro would never do something like that, especially not knowing how important Sanji's hands are.

There are so many things wrong at that moment…. 1. Zoro would never attack an unarmed person (the girl, Maya). 2. Zoro would never call Sanji by his name. 3. Zoro would never belittle Sanji. 4. Zoro would never hurt him.

And,

5. And finally, Zoro would never steal something that doesn't belong to him without consulting Luffy, no matter how much he promises that shitty swordsman Saga.

I HATE this film.

It's one of the most horrible things I've ever seen in pseudo movie canon. It kills me how sad Sanji looks after Zoro attacks him, cooking alone, dejected, with one arm. Horrible.

On the other hand, it gave me a character I hate, Saga, I'm going to use him as a crappy villain in all my fics.

Spring 2024 - Week 12 in Review

Hello folks, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Though it is technically the end of the spring anime season, the summer heat is currently reducing my cat to a sad puddle, and I am not faring much better myself. I have been attempting to beat the heat by preoccupying myself with essential anime viewing, and have so far made it just over halfway through Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. The show…

all i'm saying is that we need more content of saga from movie 5. the moment i see more art and love for him i could die happy. HE IS SO HANDSOME !!!!

Listen. I know most of the earlier one piece movies aren't really canon, but I am obsessed with the implications of Saga in the Cursed Holy Sword, because he really adds a layer to Zoro's relationships with his rivals.

Okay. First, there's Kuina. His first rival. The one he can never beat. The promise to become the greatest. Untouchable, indestructible, until she isn't. Wado Ichimonji.

Then there's Saga. His next rival. They're more equally balanced. They're both orphans. There's an understanding there. A more even footing that he didn't have with Kuina. A gifted short sword instead of an inherited katana.

And Sanji. The proof of Zoro's rule of three. Twice over, in fact, third rival, third son. Never gives Zoro an inch in a fight, but doesn't hesitate to give him food afterwards. He doesn't fight with a sword, so there's no blade shared between them. Instead there's a much heavier promise.

Kuina dies. Saga dies. Both so close to Zoro, and he couldn't even do anything. Of course Zoro's worried when Sanji boards the sea train by himself. Of course he pushes Sanji out of the way at Thriller Bark. Of course he's angry with Sanji when he runs off to Whole Cake.

Zoro's already mourned his first two best friends rivals. Does he really have to go through that again?

Maybe Kuina wouldn't have fallen if Zoro had never asked her to fight him. Maybe if Zoro had been a little better he could have saved Saga. Maybe Zoro will have to kill Sanji himself.

the curse of the sacred sword is such a zolu movie, from beginning to the end!

first things first - zoro getting lost/ disappears from the crew, and luffy calling and searching for him no matter what

-meanwhile zoro has a very special reunion

and luffy is still searching for zoro and asking anyone he sees if they've seen him

more plot and moments with the rest of the crew happen, and luffy is still searching for zoro where he can

and going insane when hearing from the bad guy that zoro wouldn't return to his crew

then zoro only hearing this part about saga fighting luffy:

and ofc talking about dreams and promises is what makes luffy understand why is zoro actually being apart from strawhats

more plot stuff etc etc, until this cool last battle, with zoro saying to luffy he's the one who has to defeat saga, and luffy going "im your captain, i will make sure you finish it!"

and wholeheartedly believing in zoro ;-;

and then being so worried about him by the end of the fight, and showing clear relief when he realizes that zoro is just asleep

this movie was surprisingly good overall!
