In other ttrpg podcast related news I’ve been listening to NADDPod on my Commute starting in the middle of the galaderon arc and may I just say What The Fuck.

favourite eidolon from award winning podcast eidolon playtest and/or favourite creative use of powers on the show? and/or any fun eidolon concepts you've written? been getting into it on your recommendation and loving it : )

god thats a hard one. i'm not sure i can list just one: on powers alone, some of them would have to be three small words (i love the influence it had on charlie's character development, making her kind of neurotic about the things she said), mr. brightside (some scp type shit, so creepy and silly in a way that just makes it creepier), whenever you breathe out i breathe in (just a really neat and creative concept), and are you sure this is cool? (i love lethal joke powers as a trope)

of course, there's some eidolons i like for other reasons, but it feels unfair to pit, like, jake and balor, who are fully fledged interesting characters, against poprock eidolons who aren't portrayed that way.

in my home games i had a time travel plot center around a living mcguffin, a hapleses guy whose eidolon [The 1975] was just a physical portal to the year 1975. i find that one funny just because of how Stupid it was -- the most fun eidolon i've run a fight for is probably [Money Machine], an eidolon wielded by a billionaire miniboss that could turn any amount of liquid assets into something equivalent in price (particularly proud of the crash where she used it to hunt down the pcs with the military of montenegro) -- the party defeated her by trapping her in an endless forest in the Undertow where there was no concept of capitalism and her net worth was worthless. fun stuff

"The pregames are the opposite of their ingames" hc is very good, but im very annoyed with how people carry it out! Do more than just making kokichi a soft crybaby, shuichi a yandere, and kaede a jerk!

Kokichi is guarded, calculated, and a (loveable sometimes, but still) asshole. So his reverse would not be an uwu soft boy, he'd probably lean more toward being kind though. Wouldnt it make more sense for this version to wear his heart on his sleeve? Not that he'd never ever lie, but he's definitely unfiltered, and couldnt plan or scheme to save his life. He's not flamboyant or loud, although maybe the reason he joins danganronpa is he *wants* to be, but instead the thing in game kokichi hates most. *Boring*. Predictable.

Shuichi being yandere makes me soooo mad. I hate it. BUT I do love him being a super fan of the games, and idolizing Kyoko. I dont think he'd be a junko fanboy, but like most fans of the game, agree that shes fun and iconic. My favorite hc I've given pregame Shuichi (or Kage i guess since thats the name people gave him for some reason?) Is that he is INSANELY confident. Did you see him in that tape!? He was so confident he was going to be a killer (but he also planned his own execution, so he knows that danganronpa would never let a killer go because that's not the point of the games, so hes got enough sense to realize that). If you havent noticed already, i reallyy like contrast and parallels, and pregame saihara being confident that he's the worlds best detective and most clever contestant is just amusing to me. I like this one a lot...<3 why does he have the hat in pregame? Uhhh idk, either he thinks it looks cool and mysterious (very likely), or he's just bad at eye contact (autism)

Kaede being Jecka from class of 09 coded is kinda funny to me tbh, but the whole "i have no faith in humanity!" line strikes me as she totally has a pinterest board of dark emo quotes and unironically believes them. You just know she tells people she has a dark and twisted sense of humor, and she loves danganronpa because shes soooo messed up. In game kaede is sweet, hopeful, and a leader, so this one is mean, doesnt believe in others, and girlfailure. I kinda love the all the same though, even if she couldnt inspire a plant to photosynthesize</3

Im so mad at peoples pregame maki. Why doesnt she get the swap treatment too, huh?! She deserves it! Maki is cold, calculated, strong, etc. So this ones my favorite. Shes a dork, she's still strong but very silly. She has a super loud laugh that she tries to cover, and i love her so so much. She definitely made her assassinsona though and showed it to tsmugi like shuichi did with his own detectivesona. Not because shes a dangan superfan! But because shes played assasins creed 5 times and can tell you how historically accurate it is with alarming detail. Shes clumsy and dorky but she is NOT weak or stupid, shes still like slightly intimidating just by sitting there (as is oma) but she wouldnt ever do anything! Shes just a lil gal!!<3 a little gal who has every historically significant posion memorized, but nevertheless!

10+ hours of tom scott approved europop for your listening pleasure. bonus commentary under the cut.

everything above "shelter me from the rain" (the hyperpop beardyman song they made for that colab video) is songs he mentioned on europlop with tim. they range from songs and artists he LOVES (mika, aqua, kim petras etc etc etc) to songs he liked, enjoyed or was at least a bit positive towards. a lot of songs are there because he brought them up just to compare them with the song of the day (usually to say that they were better. examples include marina's savages & primadonna, radiohead's creep, gwen stefanni's what you waiting for, M.I.A.'s paper planes and more). everything AFTER shelter me from the rain is songs he mentioned once on random videos, his newsletter, lateral, on a random podcast episode he appeared in, park bench episodes etc etc etc. at first i wanted to write a complete analysis on all of those songs, cite my sources and everything but im afraid that i cant really be bothered to do all that. sorry. still u can ask me if u want a source for a specific one? there is about a 70% chance that i will remember where it got mentioned.

nonetheless, here are some honourable mentions, commentary and final conclusions:

i believe in a thing called love was apparently quote "his university anthem" end quote. thats why its sitting honourably at the top of the playlist.

basically at the top of the playlist ive put emphasis at entire albums he mentioned liking. kim petras' turn off the light, mika's life in cartoon motion and the boy who knew too much, aqua's aquarium, alphabeat's this is alphabeat, bwo's big science, justice's justice. in the cases of mika and alphabeat he didnt mention the albums by name, he just said that he was listening to these artists during his college days and since we know when he went to college its not hard at all to understand which albums he was listening to back then.

i didnt include most of these albums in their entirety, i either picked songs based on vibes, or especially in the case of mika the ones *I* like the most (i love mika).

while they talk a lot about aqua on europlop tom doesnt specifically mention their first album (aquarium). he does however mention it here. i put it on the top of the playlist anyway to be with the rest of the fave albums.

awkward by jens he specifically mentioned hating the start and he is 100% right. i dont like it either. but he seemed more positive about the rest of the song and i like it too so i put it in. why am i specifically mentioning this song? because it perfectly showcases how this playlist operates. tom was negative enough about this song that i wouldnt have included it if i didnt like it. so yeah, ive brought my own biases and taste into this mess. similarly if tom liked a song i hated i wouldn't have put it in. at the end of the day i made this playlist so i can listen to it.

Man you know what i would really want. Kind of like a site that could compare all duck media (or hell, all disney media would be cool too) and how much people like them. Like put the ducktales finale against a barks 10 pager and see which one people prefer, which one has a higher score. If the entire top 100 would be dominated by comics or if a few animated things would slip in too.

And you cant like compare imdb scores to inducks scores because 1 inducks has a weird rating system, and 2 the people voting are completely different audiences. It’s never gonna be a fair logical comparison. But imagine if there was like a site where they had both and where everyone was equally fan of everything and then they would fairly vote i just want to knowww.

Ratings are cool, but cross media ratings are even cooler. How does episode 3 of the this duckburg life podcast/audioplay compare to Paperino skipper from Giorgio Pezzin. I need to know. Has chapter 5 of totem decapitato a higher rating than the first ever episode of dt87? Do people like the ducktales lost lamp movie more than the solving mysteries and rewriting history book? Yknow what who cares about unfair voting. Just compile all the normal unweighted inducks scores, all imdb and letterboxd and rotten tomatoes and whatever more exists ratings, amazon reviews, to videogame ratings that you always see on wikipedia and just put them all together and see what the result is and also implement the inducks ratings because its a very easy and handy rating system and let people rate on the site on too of that.

anyways oh boy there are SO many of these that i have this is gonna get long i think

starting off with sports, i feel like he’d be an active guy. not like gym bro buff craig kinda stuff you see, he’s definitely a lanky beanpole. but i feel like he does a few sports so has a bit of muscle

first off, basketball. i’m a truther for this one, i don’t see it a lot tho. like, i hc him as being pretty tall, and i don’t have much like canon advice to back this up but that and the fact that there’s a basketball in his garage in tsot- but i think it jus fits him tbh. and also because it’s funny, he’s a total fucking loser nerd, but since yk i’ve gotta stick to canon sometimes, he’s technically popular and attractive, he definitely has like a jock alter-ego or smth stupid like that LMAO

he definitely seems like a hockey guy. like- the enforcer is so him. he’d totally wanna beat people up just cus he can. also i think he’d be a really good skater- i think he’s a pretty well balanced person physically. also, i see kyle as doing hockey, and they’re definitely close. i just see them being friends making sense, so now theyll have a sport together. also- because im insane, ike does hockey too and kyle and craig help him practice

i believe i’ve seen this once, but yk. i always see boxer tweek and don’t get me wrong i love that, but i feel like craig would continue doing martial arts afterwards too. like he’s canonically a violent and angry guy, but he’s kinda mellowed out, and i feel like that’s him just holding it back or smth cus he gets in trouble alllll the time. tweek also probably scolds him for it. but i feel like it would be a good way for him to get out any extra emotions, because he is NOT good at expressing those. also, back onto lanky criag, he’s got long limbs, and i feel like that’s good for someone to do martial arts (trust me im projecting) also, that’s also why he has good balance i feel.

this is a basic one, but sleeping. he’s the heaviest sleeper ever, literally sleeps 24 fuckin 7

he’ll never admit it, but he kinda likes school. not because he likes sitting around all day or listening to teachers drone on and on, it’s because usually he can talk about things. in classes he enjoys, it’s his favorite thing ever. i also see him as that one kid who literally never studies or pays attention and yet has all A’s in every class.

he’s 100% a reader. he can zone out and not lay attention to anything. he gets lost in books all the time and it’s so nerdy but he loves it. it’s almost like an escape from reality which he likes. he’d never admit it, but he frets stressed pretty easily so he enjoys the way to just be alone in his own world. this also ties in with the music hc- he probably listens to music while reading. he also just zones out a lot in general

this also kinda feeds into music headcanons but he skateboards. he just gives me 90s grunge/kurt cobain vibes and youll never change my mind on this. he thinks he’s so fuckin cool but he’s just some random ass lame kid but he gets away with it cus he’s mildly popular or whatever. but he definitely has a little mini skateboard for stripe

why do these headcanons keep feeding off of each other? i dont know but yk its ok. craig fucking loves mini things. it’s definitely iconic, cus my craig is really tall and has big ass hands. but small things remind him of tweek (my tweek is like 5’8 so compared to him yeah kinda short) but he’s just gay and loves anything and everything that reminds him of tweek

i’ve also realized i don’t need a really detailed description for everything so yeah uhh (don’t mind this it’s my train of thought)

he collects shit he has the most random stuff in his room. random lego pieces he found that he thought were cool, a shit tom of rocks, different leaves, little trinkets, anything space related, stickers, just stupid stuff. those are just the basics, but he has soooo much stuff

stargazing is a must. he loves it and has specific times and places for them

btw, my entire perception (or all together understanding) of sparrow oak has shifted after this episode-

i think unconsciously i saw the twins as completely different people, like wildly different from eachother, after season 1 and in season 2

but honestly- after we find out that sparrow is the one who enacted code purple, the conversation with henry and mercedes? i still see them as different characters, but i feel like they are actually way more similar than i initially thought

they're just both two guilt ridden idiots, and at first i was really confused why it seemed like sparrow would always group himself with lark when talking about who "ended the world" or whatever (i thought it was probably him saying it in solidarity or whatever, which i think is still partially the reason) but now he also basically did what lark did

i think thats whats heartbreaking to me, because henry immediately forgives lark after he releases the doodler, but sparrow is immediately told he will never be forgiven, and where lark has the motive of wanting to defeat the doodler and become stronger, sparrow has the motive of just wanting to protect his family-

im not saying this is out of character of henry, i definitely think this is how he'd react since he has the knowledge of exactly what code purple will do, and we also know that sparrow tried to lie to him to enact it as well, but its just- fuck

personally i think because of how lark and henrys relationship is in late s1 (and afterwards) henry probably was unconsciously more attentive to lark afterwards, trying to repair that broken relationship- and so his perspective of sparrow is different, sparrow usually goes along with lark and backs him up but he never actually argues with henry or whatever,

so when sparrow does something that he does himself, it seems so off and random to henry, personally i think if he had to think about it that lark would be the twin that what would be most likely to be the one to do it, a lot of it is sparrow acting on his own principle and we really don't see that often, (blah blah, its lark and sparrow not sparrow and lark, blah blah)

basically i think that it was so unexpected of sparrow that henry immediately freaks out and is more aware of the betrayal than he was back when the doodler was released,

im relistening to the mummy issues arc in s1, and was listening to scene of henry and darryl arguing about the pyramid, and i think that's really the thing yk? because henry's moral compass is more pointed towards being selfless, where sparrow seems to be on the opposite side of that in this situation

for example, henry wants to go and get arrested by neverwinter because they had let the pyramid fall instead of trying to save lark and sparrow from the omegadads, which makes sense that he doesn't approve of code purple because it would put faerun in danger, even though it would mean his family would be safe,

and then sparrow, who enacts code purple because even though it would destroy faerun, he and his family would be safe,

ive seen people compare code purple to the trolley problem- and honestly, i agree so much, its similar, where if the same amount of people are on both tracks but one has your friends and family/people you love on one side as well,

really sparrow was put into such a huge position of either way he will end up hurting someone, his 6-year-old son is attacked by a flesh hoard that he can get rid off by flicking a single switch, and of course he's going to do it, even if that means his parents never want to speak to him again and that he dooms another plain of existence to destruction

im just in love with how much this podcast spins morality around, it can be so incredibly philosophical for being a dungeons and dragons podcast about a bunch of stupid dads, it really makes you realize how complicated humans are

The fans have never heard Actor!Stone talk so much as he does on the podcast. Everyone's surprised, but pleasantly surprised because his voice is so much softer with you and Actor!Kali than it usually is. And the fans will eat up every soundbite of his softer voice they can.

The picture of them at the party feels like something the other celebrities are on the edge of their seats about because surely once the fans see it, they'll know longer think of Stone as the golden boy, the beloved actor, right? No, it circulates in the media and all of the fans gush about how cute you three are.

It's because Stone doesn't even look wasted in the picture (Stone didn't drink any alcohol because he does stupid shit when drunk). And so everyone is just gushing over the fact that he looks so happy with you and Kali.

(Can you tell I'm loving having other celebrities want so badly for Stone to have a really terrible scandal?)

what plot ideas have you had for riot?

it started out as completely unrelated to the original plot it was like a battle of the bands situation at a college but then how would eliminations happen ?? how would the winner be chosen ???? what would happen when the competition ended ??? too many questions such little brain power

i also had a world tour type of thing and i even made tour graphics and they are soooo cute ... but then i was like thats gonna be so complicated to manage especially because i had soooo many cities and countries so i had to make all the dates close to each other which meant the tour probably would only last like 3 months .... so what would happen after the tour ended?????

i also thought of a reality show instead of a podcast and im still playing with that idea but im not 100% sold on it yet

theres also a concept about an underground club and the bands that play in it that are all competing against each other for whos the better band ! but thats stupid right????

idk besties im running out of ideas so i think i might end up just doing rival labels and leave it at that . maybe include the news thing we ended up doing near the end of riot 1.0 where people can send in drama going on with their muses
