it was one of the many nights you spent waiting for hobie to come back home. with the two of you being spider people, you had a very few moments together.

but it didn't stop you from being in love.

coming home later than your boyfriend, or at least you thought you did, you took endless precautions to not make any noise. (which tbh doesn't make any sense tbh let's js say you're a quiet person)

just in case, you know, he did come home earlier than you...

the first thing that hit you as soon as you entered your appartment was that the window - which you often left open when you sleep so that your boyfriend could sneak in without waking you up - was closed.

you didn't pay it no mind as you thought it was the wind.

you headed to the bathroom to get into your pyjamas, where actually were one of hobie's old t'-shirts- which smell reminds you of home.

you then go to the kitchen to get a midnight snack, your all time favorite.

as you turned around, you notice the presence of your boyfriend.

"hobie? is something wrong?" you ask as you run to hug him.

he gave in the hug, shoving his head into your shoulder.

"so... tired... " he mutters, "glad i'm home..."

it was no surprise: the pressure of being a spider-person was extremely high. even though hobie tried his best to hide it, but even he needed to let it out sometimes.

(time for hcs bc idk how to truly describe the scene + it'll be easier)

i feel like he takes all the room there is on the bed like he'd be in some starfish position

somehow you're always touching him whether he's the big spoon or with your head on his chest or his arm around your shoulders

if you're scared of storms he would hug you close and confort you

he plays with your hair when he can't fall asleep and wonders how non black people's hair work

he always asks you if he can move if you're laying on him - if you're asleep he just doesn't

maybe holding hands under the blankets? also you conforting him after a very tiring day he'd have his head on your lap and he'd fall asleep like that

he probably pushed you out of the bed more than once

"what the fuck are you doing on the floor??" but then he'd know it's his fault and js laugh about it

Ok, I have an AU idea for Ride the Cyclone that I've been thinking about for a bit. So in honor of Rtc day, I'm gonna explain it so I have the motivation to actually draw it.

The Digital Cyclone AU

After the choir's fall fair show, they find out that there's a new virtual rollercoaster for the fair and they all decide to try it out.

But while they're in the machine a fire starts and it begins to burn down as they fall down the rollercoaster in the headset.

Their consciousnesses transfer into the internet and they meet Karnak (He's kinda like Akinator).

Just imagine the rest of the musical happens the same (with altered lyrics and cooler outfits), but Karnak is lying about being able to bring one of them back to life so he can have a little fun with them before his site shuts down.

So their consciousness transfers into the internet and they become internet games based on their lives and personalities.

Ocean's game is called: Ocean's Perfect Town, where she tries to fix the people of the town with some slightly mean criticisms. (She is a bit nicer than in the actual musical because of her character development, but she's still a little bitchy). You win by fixing everyone in the game.

Noel's game is called: Dress with Monique Gibeau, it's a dress up game. It'd probably be similar to dress to impress, but the themes always revolve around Monique's aesthetic. But with catty comments on your outfit. (I've never played dress to impress so I don't know if they already do this)

Mischa has two games: Bad Eggs's Music and Talia's Painting. Bad Eggs's music is a game where you choose different types of dollar bills and the bills create different combos of music. And Talia's Painting is an art game where Mischa asks you to help him paint a picture for his fiance and then mail it to her.

Ricky's game is called: Battle For Zolar. It's a rhythm game/online dancing game. It's basically a bunch of dance battles with slightly sexual innuendos but enough so that they go over kids heads. xDD

Constance's game is called: Constance's Candy Shop. It's basically a cooking game. You make a bunch of candy for people and if you don't do it at the exact correct time you lose. And it also makes you choose the correct comments to say to people. And if you choose the wrong message your customer gives you a bad rating. The more bad ratings the more your health goes down.

Jane Doe's game is called: Find My Head. It's basically an online Where's Waldo game but for Jane Doe's doll head. But the farther you get in the game, the more the doll starts looking like Penny.

The twist is that at the end of all these games the characters get more deformed/try to ask you to let you out of the games. Kinda like a horror ARG/ like Lacey Games.

I feel like they would say their catch phrases and bits and they would mention the cyclone incident vaguely in their speaking lines.

I'll update in another post once I get more ideas.

in order to answer this question i made a diagram. very scientific, of course.

and i am always very stressed....

ok but to give this a fair shot xD: really like bones... drawing that guy makes me go hehehe and i gotta maximize the happy because i gotta (mumble grumble) do work and get paid and attend school and all that. also there's so many incredible spirk artists and writers out there who love spirk with all their heart!!! sometimes the smaller ship tags dwindle. can't have that >:33 and then there's the matter of personal preference bc I've always been drawn to "imperfect" ships/learning to love someone even if the chemistry isn't there initially! i don't have too many spirk brainworms bc they feel sorta... Complete i guess? and i feel like the majority of people who like my stuff enough to stick around don't mind/in fact enjoy my multishipping shenanigans so i usually don't consciously draw something for a ship exactly but it sort of just happens loll

but tbf if someone sends in a spirk prompt that really Gets me i'll probably do it! (and i'm ngl there's also the other other factor that i actually don't manage to get to all of my asks 😭 i'm sort of shit at doing them in order in part bc the adhd gets my ass sometimes xDD it's.... Almost nothing in s1 made me think they could be a good match, all in all, I was never invested in this ship and s2 didn't compell me either BUT the potential was really there, the colors are really pretty and I tell you hwat, JoanFK comeback after Joanfucius sounds REALLY good and even plausible! I don't like "getting back with the ex" tropes but post-joanfucius!Joan x Religious!JFK goes pretty hard honestly~~♡

JoanFK tastes like: Hot. It's just Hot and I can't really taste anything else. Sometimes I kind of sense a hint of the sweet or the salty that is really tasty and it just makes me sad thinking how good this plate could have been if the chef didn'T FUCK IT UP!!!!!

Canon Shadowpeach are def a little uncomfortable around, but envious of the Au married couple. Au Wukong and Macaque are very affectionate and have been reconciled for some time. Combined with an odd number of baby Mystic Monkeys around the alternate household, and the canon monkeys have a lot of questions.

Canon!Macaque, helping clean up dinner: "Soooo... when you meant forgive, you and your Wukong sorta...?" Au!Macaque, washing dishes: "Yeah. *Stuff* happened." Canon!Macaque: "In this context; *stuff* meaning your MK?" Au!Macaque: "Yep." Canon!Macaque: "Dang. One more question." Au!Macaque: "Go ahead." Canon!Macaque: "In making your MK, did you and Wukong ba-" Au!Macaque, face bright red: "Not where the kids can hear!! The twins have our ears!" Canon!Macaque, chuckling: "Ok then. Overall everyone is left very confused but with a fresh perspective on things.

Canon Pigsy is jealous that his au counterpart has more employees other than MK (au Wukong and Nezha). Both Tangs are just infodumping with eachother, while the Sandys are drinking tea.

The ones with the biggest shocks I imagine would be the canon kids tho, especially Nezha.

Canon!Nezha: "You look... rougher than me." Au!Nezha, unsurprised: "I imagine that you're still guarding the Map?" Canon!Nezha: "Ehh... not anymore. Wukong stole it." Au!Nezha: "Hmph. I still find it funny, how passionate I got about Paw Patrol, because when I started watching it, I wasn't expecting to get SO INTO IT.

When I stop to think, most my profile pics on social media/messaging apps are now of Paw Patrol. I've been watching it since January, right after my dog Dakota died. I got now two blogs (and a half bc I'm sorta "helping" Eryx with her askblog of Everest/Tracker/Rex so I was added as a mod there) only for Paw Patrol stuff instead of mixing it around in my personal blog like most my other interests/fandoms. My Telegram art channel has been 90% Paw Patrol arts this entire year so far, except for commissions. I met amazing people in this fandom and even got one hate comment LMAO there's this old Tumblr saying that states your blog hasn't truly started until you get a hate message 😂 Heck I even bought three toys so far! It's been AGES since I last bought anything fandom related for myself, on anything at all. The one thing that comes to mind is the Lightning McQueen origins storybook last year (still gotta remember to buy Jackson Storm's and Cruz Ramirez's too). I usually make/paint/craft my own stuff instead of buying (one of the several reasons I relate to Rocky!).

I just, wow? It's real. I got this whole thing going on and it makes me smile every day and I don't want it to stop any soon. I started watching the show as a way to soothe myself and relax my stressed brain after Dakota's passing. Didn't expect to get so far. I'm glad I did and that I'm here with you guys.

Now this is a hella hot take but I personally think KaiAo is much more interesting than ShinRan (for me). And fun too, because I've always been drawn to fun and teasing dynamics like these over the more romantic ones (if you get what I mean by more romantic). Ok, so the thing is, I have a very strange relationship with him.

He's so silly, right? He so fun, he's adorable, so caring and well meaning, but I'm scared of him. I wouldn't want to meet him. I'm terrified even though he's so nice 😭. So I'd rather observe from a distance (hence the drawing ^ but I'd definitely set off his senses a lot.)

(What does it say about me that I'm scared of Shin/Cone but not Kaito? I'm working on overcoming my fear of Conan/Shin, I promise *on my hands and knees* I REALLY AM)

(My irl friend understands why I'm so terrified, I've explained the crazy stunts he's done and his very illegal spy equipment to them... they actually got a nightmare about Conan that night. He's such a law breaking little gremlin (affectionate)) So...no kisses for you, detective... only because I'm too intimidated 😭 But I'll gladly make content dedicated to you and fawn over you <3

If it's not already obvious, Kai > Shin/Cone for me. But he's definitely a close second.

Shin's/Cone's aesthetic? So peak. His detective work and general vibes with the series is so banging. That clean formal attire - I love wearing more formal stuff out. Being judged for it? At this point I don't really care hahaha. His mismatching outfits are so endearing, but I don't really vibe with them.

Ben Cottontail/Ben Cooper

This is the second one I feel most assured in design. I want him to look as plain as your typical perfect school boy looks. Basically, you can tell that he values too much in the wrong things just by looking at him. I was trying to go for a strawberry blonde look, though I doubt I succeeded 😅

Henry Foxworth/Henry Worthington

Henry on the streets VS Henry being blackmailed into marriage by you-know-who. He is meant to have a more dirty, cheating Flynn Rider look. Or, as you perfectly put it, a fusion between Nick Wilde and Prince Hans. I want his hair to stick up anime style like your drawing of him showed, but this app didn't have that option XD

Moony Wolf/Marcus Wheeler

Moony's design I'm having the most trouble with. Both as a toon and a human (as a toon, I want him to look scary while also keeping the 30's-40's cartoon style. As a human, how can I humanize Moony if I don't even have his toon design fully developed? 😅). I do know I want him to be African American at least, though. And I want his eyes to be a reddish brown to best replicate his red eyes as a wolf. I tried to make him look roughed up while simultaneously make him look like he's actively taking care of himself. I still have a lot to figure out about Moony's design.

Poppy O'Hare/Sophie O'Brian

You already know what Pops looks like, but I still wanted to include her... Not to mention the blood effect did make me think of how, as friends with gangsters, she had to have witnessed at least one murder...

Shiny Weasel/Miriam Hill

I was originally going to make her Augurn, but then I realized she started to look too much like Jessica Rabbit. So bright brown hair it is XD she is also supposed to have freckles... But I forgot XD (she does wear foundation at work, though. So we'll say that this is her club look). I'm thinking about making her African American as well, or mixed race.

Terry Ratt T./Terry R. Jordan

Terry's was simultaneously fun and frustrating to do. I needed to make him look as ratty as possible XD I think this one is my favorite most of all.

Several months ago the Hotguy Comic Zinethology was released and I loved it a lot. So much that I was inspired to write fic for it. The first time I read it all at once, but the second time, partially in preparation for that writing, I took slightly more detailed notes. But I didn´t post them because there were some things I still wanted to think about and then add later, especially in the third part, and then I got busy and distracted and forgot. Ahem. Anyway, I found them while clearing out my drafts so I might as well post them, even though they´re not totally thought through or complete. In conclusion, go read HGCZ if you haven´t yet.

It starts with the fantastic cover. The view over the city at night, fantastic. And Scar looking right at the reader with that grin, perfect.

And the first story is Scar vs Joel-and-Lizzie aka Gal-and-Guy (totally not Jesse-and-James) with cat ears and a whole dramatic cat underground backstory, with Hotguy presenting the story, I absolutely love the fourth wall breaking narrative here. Who knows what's even real of what's told here – having that as the intro to the whole thing is both cool and very sneaky actually. Perfectly matching art style. Also this is very funny. The cats don't talk back!

Aww, Scar's character sheet. Love for Jellie 6, and he wants a matching outfit, of course he does.

Meet Cute! It's probably partially the art style but Scar already looks more professional and established here. (No idea what the timeline is exactly.) But really, Scar, shooting at an unknown flying person without asking questions first? This is why vigilantes are problematic…

I mean it seems the TCG is basically the police so that's not the same as being a hero but still – okay I think I forgot my suspension of disbelief for a superhero story for a moment there, sorry.

Their simultaneous “Arson!” is very funny. …wait Grian has a sculk patch on his wing… Grian just setting the house on fire xD He's lucky Cub is so incredibly chill. He's also insane enough to season his pizza with sculk *facepalm*

One New Mail: category “I can't pick my favorite most hilarious bits because I would quote half the fic.” And that was even before the last chickens came in. And it ends with Cub and Bdubs joining forces, the world is not ready.

Social media interlude: Doc being a fan of Scar as an actor is great. Bdubs getting into fights online, of course. And more Hermitopia daily life :D

Synergy: Oh no, Doc has Robo-creepers! ^^ Aww, they´re sparring together and learning. Smart.

A Cub in the Quiver: Special arrow testing with Cub! Very cool. Cub in the “in case you need it” panel looks fantastic with the almost-sculk background.

Bas les Masques: Grian and Scar meeting in their civilian identities, aww that is cute.

Deer Hunting Season: Hotguy being slow taking down someone fleeing because he´s busy talking to fans *facepalm* Oh hey it´s Jimmy! In a very silly mask. Stealing Cub´s sculk research papers for way too low a price for the job. And Grian immediately gives away that he knows him ^^ And then. That panel with the shot. And the next page with all the small panels. Whoa. What a mood shift. Gem! Scolding Scar for not being willing to die for his ideals; and when Scar sits at Cuteguy´s bedside, “why would I ever be doing this for something as idiotic as [ideals]?”

There´s a Room Where the Light Won´t Find You: aösldkfs Pearl! What are you doing! What was the thought between becoming Scar´s neighbor and friend! Poor Scar :( Pearl had a blog on Hotguy since almost the very beginning. She threw him off a balcony but before she introduced herself as a neighbor… She reveals that she knows – why? There´s seven days between Scar finding out and her confronting him… Pearl knows about the upcoming Gem&Grian confrontation, how did she think it was going to go??

Social media interlude: Pearl used to have speculation about Hotguy´s civilian identity on her blog. Scour´s appearances dropped off dramatically.

Cuteguy: Birds of Prey: oof, Grian has PTSD from Gem´s attack, no wonder. And Gem let him know that she knows their base, oof. Was she actually planning to kill him? Sure did seem like it. Or was she bluffing?

Social media interlude (zeddit): (so Zedaph founded zeddit and later turned into a villain, heh.) Scour mutation: sticky hands (?)

Smoke Rising : of course Cleo´s the one stealing organs xD (not quite sure about the TCG connection?) To be fair Scar didn´t have many good choices but still sticking the “bug” on was not very cautious. Infected Pearl and Gem´s “GROW”, and in that font, very creepy. Wait, did Scar decide to leave the bug in or forget about it…

Social media interlude: mumblr! Wait, Hotguy is canon in Doctor Who? xD “pressured into providing tips or purchasing merchandise,” lol. The community notes for Docm xD a viral fancasting with Scar as Cuteguy ^^

What Needs to be Done: Grian teaming up with Scour and Hart! How did that happen! And for a while now, enough that Scar complain that one of them will always be near and stop them from talking one on one… Wait, given up everything else, has Scar given up his civilian persona? (Dinnerbone reference ^^ ) TCG´s no match for even Joe Hills, ouch. Aww, Scar asking Grian to join him (again) – until…  Amazing art btw. “What needs to be done” – kill Cuteguy? What? Where did that come from? (Pearl??)

Total Eclipse: wow, again, amazing art. The constant “Kill Cuteguy” in the background like that, so good, and increasing too, taking over... And Hotguy smiling when he stands up again, oof. The shot of Grian without mask at the end is great.

Of the Heart: Mumbo mention! (Cub can take Hotguy to Cleo? Hm?) Awww. Also, the epilogue, Scar teasing Grian at work ^^ and then they go to a theater together!

Era 3: Legacy

Hmmm ok so I’m from Perú here, but is not necessary for a Latino to have a Hispanic name, my family are immigrants so we have all kind of mash-ups. Like example:

Asian (first name) and second name is María xdd, all that kind of stuff

Or maybe a nickname could work too.

Example

Someone named Enrique can be referred as “Quique” , “Quico”, “Henry”, etc

So I just saw this, and you're totally right, but I'll take the opportunity to talk about how I name characters, if it's alright with you.

This ask refers to a post I made where I complained how hard it was to name your latino gay romantic lead when all the names in baby names lists are people from your family tree (and said family is probably gonna read the book and ask why you pick great uncle's name for your gay porn.)

I know I don't have to give them typically latin names. Myself, I'm named out of something my mom saw in a dream, so it would be pretty hypocritical.

But at some point in my writing process I decided that I would have to make my own representation myself, and vowed to make all my protagonists Chilean-Québécois. And for some diversity, then can be Chilean-Ontarians. And they're all gonna be queer, but that's a given.

I may be slightly exagerating, but you get the intention behind it.

So, parallelly, something our unconscious minds do, when given no information about a character, is to imagine the default. And, where I live, the default is white, male, cisgender, straight, abled, thin, etc. I thought I was spared from that, until I read a novel that only revealed 3/4 in that the protagonist was Black. I had to sit down and rethink about how I perceived the world.

It was certainly a choice from the author, and also the cover art, to not describe or show the protagonist as Black from the start. I'm intrigued with that choice, I think I know where that can come from, but I'm tempted to do the exact opposite. Our goals are the same- more diversity in litterature, I'm just going to take a more direct way, at the surprise of no one.

So, I write a book. Here's the public presented with a new character. Maybe the cover didn't show him, but I have control over the words used to describe him. With the same care I use to describe skin (té con leche), a certain type of hair (curled, thick, strong), a certain kind of body (round face, broad shouldered, strong arms of a baker, soft middle with the strong core of the hardworker). And I'll add in pieces of what I know- great eyebrows, amazing eyelashes, moles everywhere.

And I know the white normativity (is that the word? i should be sleeping, words are already in bed) is so strong that people can even keep imagining a white person despite all that. So I give them no choice. I will give my character a name that sounds latino, so they can't escape it. I will give him three first names and two surnames like any of us.

Now, we arrive at the more technical side of it. I'm on the babynamer lists, on typical latin names for boys, et oh dear. Number 1 was my father's name. Number 2 is my brother's. The followings are all cousins, uncles. I'm also putting a lot of them aside for future kids.

I think I'm gonna go with Mateo. It has all the qualities I look for in a protagonist name: simple, memorable, sounds spanish without having a letter like j that just gets butchered by other people, wouldn't sound weird in a romantic or smutty scene, none of my cousins have it. The sounds are nice, it's different enough from the other main character and pairs well together. Mateo and Darius.

(Darius has been named after the Persian emperor, because I want to write a typical LOTR fantasy but with gay romance, but also my skin crawled at the idea of ther another fantasy book set in medieval white europe. My first book is in ancient Egypt for a reason.)

I have a lot of things I think about when chosing the name of a character, I'll post about it some more later if it interests some people.

Ok, I genuinely had no idea there was any drama to speak of, but from what I saw (thanks to a quick Google search), most if not all of the drama is fans claiming one has copied the other, or done something better/worse. Which is silly. If you're gonna be that nit picky about something, I hate to break it to you, but it's probably been done before about a gazillion times.

Why do some fans have to be toxic and ruin things for the fans just in it to enjoy stuff?? I even saw a post on Reddit like "here's a list of things that prove Lackadaisy copied Helluva, despite coming out first".. WHAT?! That's not how it works?! Unless you're also claiming the Lackadaisy creator TIME TRAVELLED??

Ok, so yeah it is Topher doing the most manipulating here, of Joan and her enviroment, from mostly keeping her in the house and monitoring her online activity ("the vpn works so not even I can see what you're doing"-he lied straight to her face, and in her ignorance, she believed it) to always being with her when going out, allowing her just enough independance so she can think that everything is alright. ("he worries about me like any good boyfriend does :)")

Current as I write, Joan is in a very weak state of mind, in a way, Joan herself is asking to be leashed and secluded from society, Topher just happens to be "the best" guy to provide her that shelter and a bond of sorts that will bring her back some stability to her life.

As her mind """"gets better"""", Topher is more comfortable with letting her off the leash to roam around, after all, they're getting to the point that she will always return to his side by her own choice.

Joan has big, to say MASSIVE abandonment issues that she carries back from season 1 when her house caught on fire, losing Toots and then Gandhi while she was frozen but he wasn't thawed out, and jeez, the hell that was 2x10: losing her new friends, her new popular status, her new house, her new foster mom, her future even, with no college or no world leader position, her vision is too clouded to see any other possibilities, and of course, losing not one but two boys she loved. If Topher can A) Get this information* to B) Use it on his advantage, to make himself Her safe haven that Will Stay no matter what, that person that Will Be There For Her no matter what, have her to trust him in all that in exchange of her also Being There And Staying With Him no matter what. It'll be done. She's locked in. She'll make the conscious choice of holding on to him and he only has to hold her back.

[last minute addition: poisoning her memories, specially the ones concerning season 2, how she wasn't "truly happy" with them, that she "wasn't herself" with them because they could "never accept her". But with him, she can really Be Herself and he'd Accept all of it, the good the bad the neutral the whatever. They'll make new memories togheter to overwrite the "bad"(? ones, he'll make sure to be in all of her new good happy memories. He'll make sure to make her happy, make sure she feels loved and cherished and wanted and needed. I choose to believe in my heart of hearts that Topher really has a crush and is in love with Joan, he's weird and obsessive about it but it is Real Love ♥]

I'm writting this fic where I explore Joan's developing agoraphobia, as she goes out by herself because "being always holed up here and always being with him can't be good in the long run" but all the time she's feeling angsty, jumpy, taking deep breaths to calm down, from what exactly? well, she can't put a finger on it yet but the paragraph above tells you all you need to know and I'm not spoiling it further :v

For Joan getting more manipulative, that's something that happens waaaaay into the future, where Topher no longer worries about her leaving him so keeping the wife happy by giving in to what she wants is fairly easy, just mantaining the balance so she doesn't become too spoiled or bratty as he's like 98% aware of what she's trying to pull. She can bat her cute big eyes at him, promise a reward and it's a deal. After all you read, I think it's safe to say that if she gets out of hands, he can throw the "You're Ungrateful™" card and win, right?

Topher can stroke Joan's ego all nice and well btw, feeling bad so she can feel good, he knows how to satisfy her needs, her unspoken thirst for attention. I like to think that Joan feels like she's taking advantage of Topher's affection to satisfy her emotional/physical needs but doesn't really pay attention to that much and if she does fall for him (which she will) then it's no longer "taking advantage", right?

That being said, Joan is perfectly capable of pulling Topher's stunts on Abe back in season 1 if she were badder but that's a story for another day~~

As you can see, the complexities and nuances of Joanpher can best be explored in writting, drawings can only depict very few things at a time and unfortunally my own abilities have a limit. But this post was a very good way to put pretty much all I want to say in fewer words compared to a fanfic lolol.

*I'm still debating of how he'd get the info. It could be from her consciously, as Joan realizes what her problem is and trust Topher enough to tell him (she words it as a confession of love and fear of losing him because of said love and how everything she loves, leaves her -> "I worry about you"), it could be from her through hypnosis (she words it selfishly, as she only wants something/where/one that won't abandon her like everything else did, it's certain that she is confusing this desire for safety and stability with falling in love -> "I worry I'll be alone again") or an external way unrelated to Joan, just the cold facts and Topher pieces all togheter coming to this conclusion by himself ("Well, now I know what I must do…hopefully")

Nemo/Aronnax! (Nemonax?)

As you may know I ship this (unfortunately) (shhdjfjf) so I'm answering that set of questions:

What made you ship it?

Ok so, I've talked about this a lot but in Nautilus das Abenteuermusical there is a song called Vater where the young and naive professor Aronnax has a crisis. Which goes on for almost 7 minutes. Which is mostly about how Nemo, the man he's admired as a genius so far, suddenly turns out to be a violent amoral monster - which unpleasantly reminds Aronnax of his drunkard officer (?) father,,,

I think the relationship is possibly meant to be read as simply fatherly, like a "father he never had" taking under his wing type thing, but it doesn't quite come across as only that, especially because of how violently Aronnax rejects that in the aforementioned song - he's sooo full of bitterness when he goes "do you want to be my father? Yeah, be my father? Do you want that? Never! No!". Like, Aronnax sees the patronizing attitude and emotional manipulation for what it is and strikes back by screaming about it... for seven minutes...

Also idk all of the other times they speak to each other are kinda Charged too... XDD In "Du bist es nicht wert" (Nemo refuses to let Aronnax and co. go free) Nemo screams that Aronnax "is going to die here with [him]" and calls him "beautiful" (derogatory). Idk it's just such a fascinating dynamic

I didn't quite ship it until finding out the context of the rest of the show from the official CD booklet, which points out that Nemo only rescues Aronnax and his friends from drowning once he hears Aronnax's name (??) and all sorts of other juicy details.

Idk, to me it comes down to how these characters symbolise two deeply conflicting worldviews and battle it out over their consciences - who will win, who will bend the other (and perhaps other characters/the world) to their will? It's like krolock x abronsius but abronsius is a twink (so he also doubles as Alfred I guess?) and there's more sexual tens-

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

The fact that they both have so many issues. Like these people are so wrong in the head ajsjdjjfk. They would never develop a loving relationship - they both love their wives, even though one is dead - but they're canonically deeply fascinated by each other to the point of sparing each other's life or killing just to make a point to the other. Motivated by their anger and frustration, I can imagine them [redacted]...

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't like/want to read about the original Jules Verne book version of it at all, because those guys aren't that fucked up and they're especially not having constant mental breakdowns set to funky musical tunes xD I consider this unpopular because every ao3 fic for them so far is for the book or other adaptations.
