#That can't be good for me

one of the things I'm most looking forward to in the new apartment is that it's on the ground floor. not in the attic. so no... damn now I can't remember the word. ceilings that are like, sloped or whatever. Dachschrägen halt ne (die dümmste Scheiße die jemals jemand erfunden hat).

anyway yeah I've just hit my head for about the 5th time in a week

I just spent $250 on groceries yesterday. What did I dare buy that cost so much?

Dry cat food (on sale) - $47

Chocolate for the next few weeks - $22

Cereal and breakfast on the go drinks - $65

(Eight) Cans of soup - $20

Spaghetti and Sauce - $9

Bathroom supplies - $42

Some yogurt and pudding - $6

And a couple of other things I can't identify on the receipt and do not have the memory to recall, but we're already at $211 just from that.

Does this seem like frivolous spending? Sure I could have cut back on the chocolate, but I eat that over the course of a couple weeks.

The breakfast drinks are expensive, but there are only so many non-perishable foods you can eat on the road. (I'm prepareparing drinks ahead of time in used bottles to save money. At least as often as I have the spoons for)

Soups are a great meal when I do not have the spoons to cook (and you can only eat 50¢ ramen cups for so long before you start to lose hope for the future. Canned soup is a couple steps above that)

Like, what are you supposed to do when everything costs SO MUCH?

Unironically this was me trying to keep it light, but still getting the things we needed. The yogurt and pudding were my "sneaks" and together they only cost $6.

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!

So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.

Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.

Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!

Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)

He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!

I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!

Ghosts Tell Me

~

Ghosts gather near the place where something bad is going to happen,

Danny with his ghost sense tends to notice before anyone else and tends to react outwardly before the danger even happens, gaining a reputation of seeing the future,

Ghosts also tell Danny things, causing Danny to know more about situations and the people around him, it comes of as suspicious.

Danny pulling away a snack from his coworker: "Careful your allergic to these ingredients!"

Coworker: "How the hell...I've never mentioned that to anyone."

Danny on a phone call with his friends while doing his nightly walks in Gotham: "Yeah so apparently the second Robin who is now Red Hood has very personal beef with the clown here cuz he got killed by him after being sold out by his bio mom, which really sucks for the poor guy."

Oracle who has been keeping an Eye on Danny cuz he's very suspicious from an outsiders pov: "Hey B, I think we have a problem."

Danny notices that the ghost in Gotham tends to gather where something bad is going to happen, the more they are the worse the situation will be: *glowing smoke leaves from his mouth* "Yikes! Very bad vibes here, nope!"

i hate to say it because i'm neurodivergent and a chronic-pain-haver but like... sometimes stuff is going to be hard and that's okay.

it's okay if you don't understand something the first few times it's explained to you. it's okay if you have to google every word in a sentence. it's okay if you need to spend a few hours learning the context behind a complicated situation. it's okay if you need to read something, think about it, and then come back to re-read it.

i get it. giving up is easier, and we are all broken down and also broke as hell. nobody has the time, nobody has the fucking energy. that is how they win, though. that is why you feel this way. it is so much easier, and that is why you must resist the impetus to shut down. fight through the desire you've been taught to "tl;dr".

embrace when a book is confusing for you. accept not all media will be transparent and glittery and in the genre you love. question why you need everything to be lily-white and soft. i get it. i also sometimes choose the escapism, the fantasy-romance. there's no shame in that. but every day i still try to make myself think about something, to actually process and challenge myself. it is hard, often, because of my neurodivergence. but i fight that urge, because i think it's fucking important.

especially right now. the more they convince you not to think, the easier it will be to feed you misinformation. the more we accept a message without criticism, the more power they will have over that message. the more you choose convenience, the more they will make propaganda convenient to you.
