Authority dresses as Fate

He kneels before the queen, robes immaculate, mask perfect. There is no room for error.

"There is no room for error." Her voice is hard, unforgiving, just, and rings in his ears. He knows better than to thank her for it.

"Yes, my queen." His own voice is high in this life, but rough from preaching as in every other. His body matters not, only his service does.

"They are going to bow to me, as it must be. As it will always be." He knows it's true. He will make it so. He has sacrificed thousands, and he will sacrifice thousands more for his queen, for her reign. As it must always be. Despite his queen's gracious gift he does not remember all the ones he has sacrificed. Those he does he remembers for their folly. The gods are necessary, his queen is inevitable, for all kith would be lost without her. He remembers Iovara, headstrong and foolish, who thought she could resist the inevitable and caused chaos and destruction in her tantrum. Like all those trying to defy fate she floundered and died eventually. He remembers a high priestess, subservient to a lesser god, who crumbled under the pressure of the truth, preferring to place herself in the hands of their creation, to forget as all others do, and illustrating yet again why his work is essential and in the end inevitable. Woedica will rule. Woedica must rule. And Thaos as always will be her instrument of fate.

Wank Wednesday: The Johnlock Conspiracy

This Wank Wednesday, we’re diving into The Johnlock Conspiracy, or TJLC for short. This is a fan theory that claims how writers of the BBC Sherlock series have always intended to make John/Sherlock the canon endgame pairing. This theory is often used as an argument against accusations of queerbaiting the show received from both fans and the mainstream media.

TJLC and its proponents have been at the heart of much controversy and wank over the years, many of which concerns their alleged harassment of other fans both on and-offline.

After the series ended with season four in 2017 without Johnlock being officially confirmed, some TJLCers argued that there was a secret fourth episode that would prove their theory, and many are still waiting for it to be released.

Featured Article: Highlander

This week’s featured article brings you Highlander, the franchise about immortals living among humans. The franchise first started with the 1986 film Highlander and later got expanded into a TV series. Due to its multi-media tie-ins such as an animated series, comics, and books, the canon is highly varied depending on the creators and countries of production.

The series centers around the life of 400-year-old Duncan 'Mac' MacLeod and his struggles to have a "normal" life while still confronting the dangers of being an Immortal. Duncan’s companions are his long-time human girlfriend Tessa Noël and the teenage thief Richie Ryan, who Duncan took in after the later accidentally learned about the existence of Immortals.

Aside from the canon ship Duncan/Tessa, a major slash pairing in the fandom is Duncan/Methos. As both Duncan and Methos are immortals, fans like to speculate about their life throughout the different historical eras.

Crossover is a common trope in HL fanfics and often involve inserting Highlander characters or Highlander-style immortals into another fandom such as Buffy or Stargate SG-1.
