During the production, when Ambrosius was decided to be East Asian, artists looked up queer East Asian-American men, and based Ambrosius off of them. Ambrosius is literally drawn to look like Eugene Lee Yang

It’s really gotten to the point lately where if I hear about or see a show and it doesn’t have ANY body diversity at all I don’t really wanna engage. lots of new fun looking media, but I’m tired of all these skinny people protagonists. I’d even take one of them being buff if you’re too afraid/cowardly to make one fatter. I’ll even take fake ‘plus size’ (where it’s just realistic body proportions not even fat). But it’s almost an impossible bar to have.

to go a bit more into detail on this - from what I understand, this was on display* in a house for a number of years. This particular piece comes from the home of the harbormaster (a lovely man), and was exposed to light and about 50+ years of cigarette smoke. The boat in the photo is an early ferry in my area, and the cardboard it is mounted on seems to be some sort of church(??) yard sign(???)

we are still deciding the best course of action for this piece, but in all honestly, as a smallish museum/historical society with a laundry list of pieces with urgent conservation needs, we don't have the manpower to do anything other than keep it in a dark and temperature controlled space.

There are a lot of things that make me sad when I see pieces like this, because its so easy to see how important it was to its former owner, and it hurts me that we can't pour all of our time and resources into every piece that needs help. There are pieces even in this intake (which I cannot show because they contain identifying information about my location) that will be prioritized as they demand more immediate conservation efforts. Time can be a cruel opponent - and all we can do is our best.

anywho!!! all this is to say Support your local historical society!!! they are trying their darndest to preserve your local history and can't do so without community support! (and support does not always mean money!!! genuinely just interacting with your local historical societies can mean so much)

apparently its been three weeks since liam has passed. Its still quite a chonker for my brain to break down.

At this point of my life, Im about to move across the country to a new state, coincidentally hours away from my best friend, my longest friend, who I know from Twitter. We met in middle school with our 1D fan accounts. We bonded over crazy family and our adoration for the boys and their music. She is such an important part of my life, and I would not have her if it weren’t for these boys. I am so grateful for their hard work, for their character, their dedication. and I grieve the truth of knowing the environment all their time and energy was spent in for years.

Liam, I’d like to apply my own physics here and say that if youre dead, then youre outside time and space. which means youre able to see and listen and read allll of these beautiful things we are saying to you from the other side. I love you Liam, and I am so sorry that this is how it went down. You will live as a part of my life forever in a friendship I deeply cherish, in my lowest points when I needed to blast Diana in my earphones at 3am, and every single time I look around my life, because wow I am realizing how much you guys have infiltrated it. Did you know I played soccer for years? and guess what my number was. 28. My favorite brand quickly became adidas, why? Because louis wore it frequently. so... i decided to give ren a haircut.

i've spoken about ren's development before and how the small reunion with the high cloud quintet essentially was the start of him finally approaching things differently. while that is still quite fresh ( again, in comparison to his 700+ years of living ) the only visible change is the fact that he cut his hair. a lot of people believe that hair holds memories, that is not the reason for this change. his reason is quite simple, it felt like a fresh start. while he won't elaborate on this to just anyone, it's something that holds great importance to him. his life is/was essentially a very repetitive routine and even though he is uncertain about how he feels regarding change, this was a decision he made alone.

the style itself is close to what you'd call a "wolf cut" / mullet. ( i am a mullet lover do not come for me please ) it's shorter and more convenient for him than what we see on his canon in-game model. to be clear: he used to have long hair and only cut it short after the HCQ "reunion" in jingliu's companion quest. also, in ren's case, his hair grows faster than the average speed too so he has to trim it fairly often. fun fact in addition to this: his facial hair also grows rather fast and he usually dreads shaving but likes to clean up rather than dealing with the stubble or letting it grow.
