Would you mind sharing your views on backpacking? 👀
Take all of this with a grain of salt because I'm mostly just bothered by backpacking content on Instagram.
I think the concept is fine. I'd actually like to do some backpacking some time.
But backpacking content, as well as most overland* content, always has a really weird vibe. It almost feels like cosplaying poverty if you know what I mean??
It's almost always young people from the so called "West" and almost always they're somewhere in South or Southeast Asia. The most popular backpacking destinations I'm seeing at the moment are Bali (exclusively that part of Indonesia for some reason), Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. The algorithm has recently also started showing me content from Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.
Since flights to these destinations are usually quite expensive, and many of these people stay abroad long enough that they might need a visa and that accommodation and food would also add up, it can be safely assumed these people have a certain amount of financial stability. Some of them are full time influencers too.
And while travelling with a backpack instead of a suitcase makes sense, and while you want to have an "authentic" experience, the vibe on those videos is often sooooo weird.
They're always like "I just spent 45h standing in a cramped bus without AC because it was only $1. I'm sleeping on the floor of this abandoned building that costs me $4 a night. I only carry 2 t-shirts with me, can't find a laundromat and I'm travelling for 3 months. Yesterday I got scammed and got food poisoning."
And I'm like why are you doing this? Is it really more "authentic" just because it's a foreign country? You can find the same uncomfortable situations and people who live like that all the time in your home country, but when you're abroad it's cool and authentic and #humbling #eatpraylove. Meanwhile there's also people in that same country you're backpacking through who, like, have a comparable standard of living you're used to. Your holiday doesn't have to be luxury resorts but it also doesn't have to be absolutely god awful.
And of course there's also the factor of adrenaline and stepping out of your comfort zone but with these videos it seems like they're almost glamorising having an awful time in an "exotic" country because that's what it's supposed to be like? I guess?
Idk I feel like I should get the opinion of someone living in one of those backpacking hotspots to make sure I'm not just getting annoyed at nothing but I think the vibe is off.
*overland content as in "travelling from XY to YZ without flying - Day 420" type videos. They're often interesting and I follow some of those people and I actually have some ideas for cool overland or long distance train trips but some of the accounts also have a weird vibe. Most of the ones I saw were men and they're like hitchhiking through some desert somewhere and I'm like oh this would feel so unsafe to me as someone perceived female. And obviously they also make lots of content where you know they have lots money because they've been travelling for several months but it has that same fake low budget backpacker vibe.
I hope this makes sense. I'm not sure it does.
#Comparable standard of living as in no two places are the same#And climate and the overall economy of the country and so many other factors can make a difference to how people are living#But there are people in Vietnam Thailand etc who are just. You know. Leading a normal life. Who have comfortable flats.#There are also rich people everywhere obv#There are hotels and bnbs in every price range everywhere#There are cheap restaurants or street food stalls that locals also go to that won't give you food poisoning#I've never been to any of these countries but like logically#And based on what I've seen from other people#But backpacking content is always like omg these natives are so nice and humble 🥺#Asks

The Global Passport Power Rankings: What Singapore’s Top Spot Means for You
According to the latest rankings from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Singapore has claimed the title of the world’s most powerful passport for 2024. This ranking highlights Singapore’s exceptional global mobility, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 195 destinations. Here’s a closer look at how different passports fare and what India’s position at 82nd place means for Indian travelers.
Top Passports of 2024
Singapore: Leads with access to 195 destinations.
France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain: Each provides access to 192 destinations.
Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden: 191 destinations.
Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, United Kingdom: 190 destinations.
Australia, Portugal: 189 destinations.
India’s Passport Standing
India’s passport is currently ranked 82nd on the global list. Indian citizens can travel to 58 countries without a visa, including popular destinations like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. This reflects a moderate level of international mobility compared to the leading passports.
Regional Comparisons
Pakistan is ranked 100th, with access to 33 countries.
Afghanistan holds the lowest rank, with access to only 26 destinations.
Global Mobility Gap
Christian Kaelin, chair of Henley and Partners, notes a significant widening in the global mobility gap. The average number of destinations travelers can access visa-free has nearly doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024. However, the disparity between the top and bottom passports is now greater than ever.
Implications for Indian Travelers
For Indian passport holders, this ranking underscores the importance of staying informed about visa requirements and application processes:

This could be the Asian drupa, Version 2.0
Version 1.0 of this article, written 55 days before drupa24, said that the German and European visa processes in India were better organized than in previous decades to handle fair participants. However, on 23 April, which is 35 days before the start of the fair, reports are emerging of visa appointments going into late June, well after the event is over. (It’s necessary for most Indians to physically visit since a fresh set of biometrics is almost always necessary, apart from the humiliating set of financial documents required.)
Nevertheless, the enthusiasm amongst the Indian industry for drupa24 is high. Considered by Indian print and packaging businesses as a university – the fair is a way of learning what’s going on in the industry and about the most likely to succeed technologies of the future. Indians attend for several days with great hunger to learn whatever they can and for the pleasure of networking with colleagues from everywhere in the world at the fair. Drupa works especially well for bringing the next generation into the family business. It’s an initiation for young printers and converters and visiting the fair becomes a rite of passage.
This brings me to the second topic discussed in Version 1 – that this could be the Asian drupa. China will have the highest number of exhibitors at drupa24 although German exhibitors will still occupy the largest amount of floor space. Of the 1,580 exhibitors listed by the organizers, 580 or 36.7% are from Asia beginning from Australia and moving westward to Pakistan – both countries have a single exhibitor listed. The largest number of exhibitors from the region are from China with 405, and one can add Hong Kong at 10 and another 22 from Taiwan for a total of 437, which represents 27.6% of the total number of drupa exhibitors from that entity. India is represented by 84 exhibitors, Korea by 26, Japan by 23 (some Japanese companies may be listed under their European locations), and Malaysia with 4 exhibitors.
Indian and Asian exhibitors want to highlight their development capacities in newer technologies – their abilities in software and mechatronic automation. Asian exhibitors understand that their strength in the global marketplace of the future will come from their agility and quicker implementation of new technology in more unique machines and solutions than their global counterparts.
The drupa website contains several articles about technologies that are featured at the show but only one article refers to Asia – “Hyper Local, Still Global: Asia a Source of Growth and Innovation.” The article by James Loudon, managing partner, EMEA, IoT ONE, says in part, “As we shift our focus towards Asia, we can see a region leading the way in transformation, with several rapidly expanding markets and innovation hubs. The region is home to some of the world’s most prominent science and technology clusters, highlighting its critical role in driving global innovation and technological advancement.
“Asia’s rise and transformation in the past two decades has been China-centric. China will remain a central part of supply chains with its advanced manufacturing infrastructure for many products for the foreseeable future. However, ASEAN nations progressively position themselves as viable alternatives for a ‘China+n’ approach, capitalizing on their cost-effectiveness, burgeoning infrastructure, and youthful demographics. Vietnam is on an upward trajectory in low- to mid-value manufacturing in this dynamic region. Meanwhile, Malaysia and Thailand are carving out their niches in the automotive and mobile sectors. Concurrently, with its wealth of STEM talent, India makes headway in the sophisticated realms of IT and software services.
“India strongly desires to become a part of the global supply chain and produce goods for export in addition to China. India also wants to increase the number of services it provides. However, matching the quality of China’s infrastructure, bureaucracy, and production system integration will require significant effort. The interplay between ASEAN and India is interesting because ASEAN’s technical expertise could help India create a synergy that strengthens the global supply chain, especially in the semiconductor industry. . . While China will remain a key player in many product supply chains, other countries will also have a role to play.”

Countries that provide dual citizenship with the UK
In the UK, having dual citizenship means having simultaneous citizenship in the United Kingdom and another nation. Those with family links abroad or those who wish to move freely between nations may find it advantageous.
Although having two citizenships has certain drawbacks (such paying taxes twice, having military responsibilities, or not being eligible for some government programmes), they are usually offset by the positives according to the top immigration lawyers in London. With a few notable exceptions, the UK permits dual citizenship with several other nations.
Advantages of Dual Citizenship
If you are not a British citizen and you want to relocate to the UK, you may wish to think about requesting dual citizenship. The following are some advantages of dual citizenship with the UK:
1. Staying in Both Nations
You are able to reside in two nations concurrently. This implies that you can still go to or remain in England for extended periods of time without losing your rights as an Englishman, even if your spouse or children have relocated abroad and you intend to retire there.
2. Right to Vote
You are eligible to vote in both nations' elections. Since it is lawful in the majority of nations with dual citizenship legislation, many people actually take advantage of this opportunity by casting two ballots during elections.
Keep in mind that several nations only permit voting in parliamentary elections—not municipal ones. You will not be eligible to vote in local or parliamentary elections if you have resided outside of the UK for more than 15 years.
3. Hassle-free Travel
You don't need a passport or a visa to travel freely across the UK. When travelling as a dual citizen, there should be no issues as long as you carry your British passport with you and consult one of the immigration lawyers in London.
4. Social Benefits
Possessing dual citizenship entitles you receive social advantages from both nations. This covers social security, health insurance, and other government-funded initiatives.
More About Dual Citizenship in the UK
Being a citizen of more than one nation, or holding two citizenships, is known as dual nationality.
This may be the result of your parents' different nationalities or the fact that you were born in one location and later relocated.
Additionally, there are other kinds of dual citizenship:
Dual Nationality by Birth
In the event that you were born in the United Kingdom or a British Overseas Territory, you must verify your eligibility and apply for citizenship.
Depending on where and when you were born, as well as the circumstances surrounding your parents, you may potentially qualify if you have a parent who has a British citizenry.
You could be able to register as a British citizen, for instance, if both of your parents are British citizens, or if one of them is and the other has the right to remain in the country indefinitely.
Dual Nationality through Naturalization
You might have to give up your original citizenship if you wish to seek for naturalization in another nation to obtain a second citizenship.
Countries That Provide Dual Citizenship with the UK
There are many countries which allow dual citizenship. Some of the countries that permit UK dual citizenship include:
Armenia
Australia
Bangladesh
Barbados
Belgium
Canada
Croatia
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Egypt
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Iceland
Iraq
Ireland
Israel
Italy
Kenya
Latvia
Lebanon
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
Malta
Pakistan
Philippines
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Serbia
Slovenia
South Africa
Sri Lanka
Sweden
Switzerland
Syria
Thailand
Tonga
Turkey
United Arab Emirates (UAE)
United States
Eligibility for UK’s Dual Citizenship
There are conditions that must be fulfilled if you are a citizen of the United Kingdom and wish to get dual citizenship. Finding out if you qualify for dual nationality in the UK—that is, having dual citizenship with another nation—is the first stage in the process.
To qualify for this opportunity, you must be:
18 years of age or older
possess a minimum of 12 months' worth of UK residency (unless married to a British citizen or established person)
You must have passed the Life in the UK exam and the English language proficiency criterion.
have not violated any immigration laws in the UK while you were a qualified resident
You must fulfil the prerequisites listed above in addition to possessing another citizenship or being eligible for

"The Moment I Entered India…": Pak Woman To Marry Kolkata Resident
On Tuesday, Javeria Khanum from Pakistan crossed the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar to complete her love story, waiting in Kolkata. Ms Khanum is all set to marry Kolkata resident Sameer Khan in January.
Javeria and Sameer were introduced to each other five years ago when he returned to Kolkata from Germany and saw Ms Khanum’s picture on his mother’s phone. It was love at first sight for him. He told his mother that he wanted to marry her. Sameer’s mother sent the proposal to Javeria’s mother in Pakistan’s Dera Ismail, and both families agreed, but the road ahead for this love story was not easy.
Javeria Khanum had to apply for a visa to travel to India. The Indian High Commission initially rejected her application twice, and then a global tragedy, the Covid pandemic in 2020, further delayed their story’s progression.
Undeterred, Javeria Khanum applied again, and their love story passed its toughest test of getting a visa. Ms Khanum crossed the international border between India and Pakistan at the Attari-Wagah crossing in Amritsar on Tuesday. Sameer welcomed his fiancee with a bouquet and beats of ‘dhol’ at the border.
“Our families agreed to the marriage but we were trying to get a visa. I thank the government of India for granting me a 45-day visa. We have been in a relationship for the past five years, and I was trying to secure a visa for a long time and finally, it happened. Everyone back home was very happy,” Javeria told ANI.
“I’m feeling very happy. The moment I entered India, everyone congratulated me, and I was getting love from everyone. I felt happy seeing the grand welcome I received. I still can’t believe this,” she added.
Sameer and Javeria sought help multiple times from the Indian government for a quick redressal of their problem. Mr Khan posted on X last month, that in the last five years, he could meet Javeria only three times. Twice in Thailand and once in Dubai and her visa has been rejected twice by India.
The surreal reunion at the border left both Javeria and Sameer struggling to absorb the reality that they can finally marry. Speaking to reporters, he said, “I am very happy and surprised to see her, you can see it on my face. I want to thank the Indian government and Mr. Maqbool, who helped us in the visa process. Both countries helped us a lot to come together. When intentions are clear then no such thing as a border can come in between love, and this is an example.”
“I wish both governments introduce a special visa for couples who want to get married and help them. The security concerns are important, I respect that but there should be a special category,” he added.
Sameer told PTI that his friends from Germany, Africa, Spain, the United States and other countries will likely attend his wedding.

India's passport ranking has made significant progress, leaping from 87 in 2022 to 80 in 2023. This remarkable improvement now grants Indians the privilege of traveling to 57 countries without the need for a visa. The latest Henley Passport Index reveals Singapore as the new leader, offering visa-free entry to an impressive 192 global destinations. Meanwhile, India shares the 80th position with Senegal and Togo.
Top Rankings and Their Visa-Free Destinations
Germany, Italy, and Spain have secured the 2nd position on the index, enjoying visa-free access to 190 destinations. These rankings are based on data collected by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which reflects the number of destinations accessible without a prior visa.
Disparities in Passport Rankings
On the other hand, Pakistan's passport is positioned among the lowest in the world, granting visa-free access to only 33 countries. At the very bottom of the Henley Openness Index, four countries – Afghanistan, North Korea, Papua New Guinea, and Turkmenistan – score zero, denying any visa-free access for their passport holders.
The list of 57 countries Indians can travel visa-free:
Barbados, Bhutan, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde Islands, Comoro Islands, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Dominica, El Salvador, Fiji, Gabon, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Indonesia, Iran, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Macao (SAR China), Madagascar, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Mauritius, Micronesia, Montserrat, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niue, Oman, Palau Islands, Qatar, Rwanda, Samoa, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Somalia, Tanzania, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Togo, Trinidad, Tunisia, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Zimbabwe

I BOOKED MY FLIGHT!!!!! HOOOOOLYYYY SHIT ITS OFFICIAL
I have no choice now KAJDJDJSJS I'm DOING IT. 5th of Jan 6:25am baybee!!! one way baybee!! landing in Bali at 9:15!! I knew the flight would be cheap flying from Australia (when u hit Darwin they make you get out and swim lmfao) but I got it for 380 bucks! super happy with that! will be flying from Melb to Adelaide on Dec 20 to have Christmas with family and say goodbye, then flying out of Adelaide. probably could've gotten it cheaper from Melbourne but I wanted to see my family off.
really digging into my planning. starting to compile hostels and stops I def want to do. I think I definitely want to get my PADI license in Malaysia or Thailand. every source has told me it'll be $500, but in most places that includes your accommodation and meals so I do want to splurge on that.
I also want to do a Muay Thai camp in Thailand! I absolutely love boxing and MMA so I love the idea of staying in one of the camps for a few weeks! I think the cost is around 250 for a 2 week stay which again includes a room and meals. there are months long options as well 😳 I wanna get so buff
also sorting my workaways. I definitely want 2 in Indonesia, one is on a village fruit farm in West Java and the other one is another farm in South Sumatra. they both have lots of reviews so I think they're safe options for my first time using it :3
further on is cleaning up beaches in Langkawi Island in Malaysia.
After that it's mostly hostel work. there's a lot of paid positions available in Japan and the working holiday visa doesn't seem too complex to get. only I'll have to have a detailed plan on my Japan travels and can only apply from Australia 😬 so I'll have to apply now and have a bulletproof itinerary for like 10 months from now and I don't even know when exactly I'll arrive! it's a big pickle. you can't even volunteer in Japan without a working visa so even if I don't want to make money, just saving money by working/volunteering for board isn't doable, which is how I was planning to be able to travel Japan without blowing a heap of money 😬😬 will check it out further and ask around.
My Bali, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam itineraries are shaping up. once I train into China though things get pretty rough. and after Japan it's basically up in the air. I plan to fly from Tokyo to Kathmandu, Nepal and do a tea farm workaway. Then India, which I'm super excited but intimidated by and I have no idea what route I'll take aha. Would still love to then do Pakistan, Jordan and Turkey but I'll see how much time/money I have by then. will end in Austria to see my best mate. Might spend Christmas with them 😳
166 days to go 😩

Qualified Retired Person Incentive Program
The Belize Qualified Retirement Program (QRP) was created to facilitate eligible people who meet the needed requirements, to obtain residency while allowing them an easy way to permanently live and retire and relax in Belize.
Belize is recognized as a top tourist destination and is also considered to be a top destination for people looking for retirement in the Caribbean. To incentivize people to move and retire in Belize, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) put in place the Qualified Retired Person Incentive Program (QRP). The QRP was developed in the 1990s to open doors for anyone over the age of 45 who is looking to retire in the Central American-Caribbean paradise of Belize.
Belize offers retirees a lot of upsides; English-Speaking, British Common Law, Low-Tax Jurisdiction, close proximity to home, and warm Caribbean Climate. With the influx of retirees and Baby Boomers, Belize has developed a “Permanent Tourist” sector. The QRP was put in place for retirees whose income allows for self-sustainability. The benefits of Belize’s QRP Program for the individual and the country are significant. As stated by International Living “Belize has one of the world’s best retiree programs”.
Who Qualifies for QRP?
The QRP is a great program and allows people who meet the criteria to move and reside in Belize (while easily obtaining residency). Though the QRP is a great program, it is not for everyone. Things to Know About QRP
Qualified Retired Persons are not allowed to seek employment in Belize, however, voluntary work and business investments are encouraged.
Qualified Retired Persons need to submit a yearly bank statement showing compliance with the financial requirements of the program.
Qualified Retired Persons are required to renew their retiree status every year.
Qualified Retired Persons need a customs broker to process your importation of personal effects, vehicles, or boats.
Qualified Retired Persons are not allowed duty-free on items used to repair or build, nor tools of their trade.
The benefits of the QRP Program include a permanent exemption from all taxes in Belize (estate taxes, income taxes, capital gains taxes, and most import taxes). And while the Belize QRP visa offers full-time residency, new residents can enjoy all the QRP benefits even by spending as little as one month in Belize.
The requirements to successfully enter the Belize QRP Program are remarkably simple when compared to residency programs in other popular retirement destinations. It is a program put in place to incentivize foreign investment and retirement in Belize.

I was watching TV yesterday and they shared this "inspiring" story of this guy who travelled from Germany to Thailand by foot/bike/train etc for over 400 days to propose to his girlfriend and they made it seem like he's a low budget spontaneous backpacker but I have so many issues with the story
He mentioned he had his own company that he gave up to do this which already implies to me a level of economic stability most people don't have
A lot of the countries he travelled to require visas to be applied for well in advance and some of them are relatively expensive so either he planned this all in advance, travelled there illegally or like. Waited at the border for ages???
They then showed his engagement ring with six diamonds plus a big ass diamond he allegedly "found" in Pakistan???
Also if you want to propose to your long distance girlfriend just buy a plane ticket instead of taking over a year to arrive for a social media stunt??

This could be the Asian drupa
As I write this with less than 55 days to drupa, the German and European visa process and the allied agencies in India seem to be much better organized than in the previous decades. There could be many reasons for this. Maybe the Europeans have realized that printers and converters are not desperate to migrate or merely interested in their machines and technology or talking about the future but are serious business people. Additionally, as both exhibitors and visitors, they may actually have something to show and say.
We have talked to Indian exhibitors who are taking several team members to the show because they are keen to show their structured organizations with technically sound response teams. These are companies built by multiple engineer partnerships with industry experience working for global companies. They are keen to listen to the drupa visitors who have niche and unique requirements. Apart from showing their machines and products, they want to project their capacity to provide a flexible range of solutions to drupa visitors from around the world.
Indian and Asian exhibitors want to highlight their development capacities in newer technologies – their abilities in software and mechatronic automation. Asian exhibitors understand that their strength in the global marketplace of the future will come from their agility and quicker implementation of new technology in smaller and more unique machines and solutions than their global counterparts.
The Asian visitors’ antennae
Indians at drupa represent a large and visible contingent partly because once they get there, they spend several days in their comprehensive search for the useful and the new. However, right from Australia to Iran, including Japan, Korea, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar to Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, the most discerning technical visitors with money in their pockets will come from Asia.
The Asians are the future. Like their Asian colleagues, the Indian printers and converters have several sharp antennae that send clear signals of what they see and hear to their experienced processing systems in terms of competitive business advantage. There is an antenna for recognizing which new technologies work in terms of required and not just ‘good enough’ quality. This antenna is linked to the processor for appropriate applications.
The third antenna is price and currency-sensitive for processing the actual cost of a new machine or technology. Since our financial systems and economics are stringent, money for capex and consumables, including customs duties do not allow high leverage. This is where the global manufacturers could benefit from listening to the prudent Indians and Asians who show up in Düsseldorf. The past two decades have shown that when the suppliers from the developed economies didn’t listen or adapt to what we tried to tell them, they were forced into insolvency, divestments and consolidation.
The Super Content Group – let’s make a video for you at drupa24
The Super Content Group consisting of 20 media platforms, including several of ours, will provide professional video making and distribution at drupa 2024 and beyond. The group members led by the Inkish team are offering to make quality videos at the show that will be quickly edited and subtitled in the numerous languages of the Supergroup partners and broadcast on their websites. Three Indian exhibitors have signed up and we (Packaging South Asia and Indian Printer and Publisher) expect a few more to sign up before 21st April for the special rates for a 15-minute video-making slot at your stand. You can contact Mohit Tyagi at [email protected] or me if you would like to talk about this opportunity to improve your participation at drupa 2024. Also, contact us if you would like to join our traditional TeamIndia@drupa WhatsApp group.

Please Remember Project Moses Colorado this Giving Tuesday, November 29th
PLEASE REMEMBER PROJECT MOSES COLORADO ON GIVING TUESDAY NOVEMBER 29th 2022
In less than two weeks, on December 29, 2022, it will be Giving Tuesday 2022. This giving Tuesday, please remember the millions of persecuted and threatened Christian minorities in nations such as Pakistan, Egypt, Syria and Iraq. It is the mission Project Moses Colorado to aid, assist, advocate for and, where possible, protect, persecuted and threatened Christian minorities.
In 2021, after years of helping a threatened extended Pakistani Christian family of 17 Project Moses Colorado was able to help all 17 to receive asylum in Canada. Annually, between 500 and 1000 young Pakistani Christian women are kidnapped, forced to marry their abductors and forced to convert to Islam. While technically illegal, Pakistani authorities generally overlook the practice.
When, in 2013, a young Pakistani Christian man fell in love with and married a young Muslim woman from a militant family, who then became a Christian, however, it became a death sentence not only for the young Christian man and his wife, but also included all of the young man's brothers and sisters and their families, a total of 17 individuals. The families abandoned their homes and businesses and fled to Bangkok Thailand, which has a United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) office at which refugees may apply for asylum.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Pakistani Christians in Bangkok, as well as Sri Lanka. UNHCR takes an average of eight to nine years to process asylum applications from persecuted Christians. In the meantime their situations are often desperate. They are not allowed to work legally (making some vulnerable to slavery and human trafficking) As they were only able to travel to Thailand using a short-term tourist visa, and because of the unconscionably lengthy period of time that the UNHCR takes to process their asylum applications, they are forced to overstay their visas making them vulnerable to arrest, where they are either given exorbitant fines or deported.
It took until 2019 for UNHCR to rule on the group's application. Asylum was only granted to the young man, his ex-Muslim wife, and the two children they had while in Bangkok. The remaining 13 family members had no choice but to continue to live an underground existence in Bangkok. Fortunately, strong advocacy from a Canadian church and Project Moses Colorado caused Canada to ignore the UNHCR ruling and grant asylum and relocation to all 17.
Sadly, however, that happy result is not common. Currently, Project Moses Colorado is aiding other Pakistani Christians in Bangkok and elsewhere, whose asylum applications have been rejected and/or those living in dangerous situations, to the extent we are able. Even more sadly we have lost contact with others, for whom we can now only pray.
PLEASE REMEMBER PROJECT MOSES COLORADO ON GIVING TUESDAY NOVEMBER 29th 2022.
Project Moses Colorado is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt charity that you can help in one of three ways. The first is to send a check to:
Project Moses Colorado

Thornton, CO 80233
The second is to make Project Moses Colorado your Smile.Amazon charity,
The third is to make Project Moses Colorado your Kroger Community Rewards charity.
The second and third do not require any monetary commitment. Instead Amazon and/or Kroger will give Project Moses Colorado a certain (usually 0.1%) percentage of the monetary value of your purchases.
GOD BLESS YOU IN THE COMING HOLY SEASON
