Pesky said in my discord server that they wanted a carbuncle OC, and I was happy to oblige. Alzirr is the cutest little topaz carbuncle EVER and I am in love. Alzirr also delivers mail, or tries to. Look he has wings and everything, kupo!

A while back I did some plague doctor mystery eggs, and it turned out that Pesky wanted something more custom. This is easily my most favorite design I've done in a while, and I especially love the story we already have planned for him. He's a grave cleric and plague doctor both. He was actually genuinely hard to let go of lol. I loved him so much that I had the idea of his cutie mark before he was even all done. It's absolutely perfect and I am very proud of it~!

The last two are finished mystery eggs! First, Pesky wanted a Kobold/Owling hybrid, so I made a downy kobold boy based on a snowy owl, which I thought worked really well for this viking look~! He's a meek little guy, but I am already SO in love with him omg XD And I LOVE that I got to draw a digimon omg. I didn't even know that TerriermonX was a thing till now, and I LOVE THEM. This little guy is an example of the egg only being hinted at in the character, as I didn't feel like an outfit would be right for this little guy.

LOPMON LINE

Lopmon is a character from the Digimon franchise. It's a small-sized digital monster, resembling a rabbit with three horns on its head. It is described as an extremely rare or "precious" twin digimon, alongside Terriermon. It is also described as having a lonely personality.

Lopmon is a spirit who's affinity resides over the lonely, the neglected, and those who are otherwise impacted from their trauma. Additionally, those it digivolves into can represent how said trauma has affected you physically, mentally, emotionally, socially etc - it is a saddening and sometimes misunderstood spirit (especially concerning its virus-type digivolutions), but it can assist in confronting feelings of abandonment, and help in growing from the darker times in your life. It is a loyal and loving companion regardless of how it appears to you, whether it keeps to its Data-based and later Vaccine digivolutions, or digivolves to something Virus-based. Overall, this spirit is good-natured, but very vulnerable. Treat it gently.

Concepts:

Corruption/innocence, trauma/growth from trauma, negative events/positivity after negativity, growth/stuntedness, hopefulness/hopelessness, abandonment/coming back, friendship/resentment, contrasting and opposite elements, feelings, and emotions.

To be fair having Chocomon and “Gummymon” referred to as Kokomon and Terriermon does make a little bit of sense since in both the original and the dub Digimon usually announce their name as they Digivolve (“Gummymon Shinka… Terriermon” or “Gummymon digivolve toooo… Terriermon”). 

So since Gummymon/Terriermon would have still been around Willis when he Digivolved, but Kokomon wasn't, it makes sense that Willis would know what Terriermon’s current name is but not Kokomon.

Although even in the original version it does seem weird that Wallace (Willis) would refer to his partners by their Baby II/In-Training names (Gummymon and Chocomon/Kokomon), since they hatched from an Digi-Egg that he got, if he somehow wouldn’t have heard the names during their digivolving sequence or even knew that his partners’ names changed at all or is in denial of it, wouldn’t he refer to them by their Baby/Fresh names (Zerimon and Cocomon)? 

Although Digimon: The Movie having “Kokomon” be called that, but never clarifying that that’s the character’s In-Training and not the Digimon’s current name, made weirder in that they gave his attack the name “Koko Crusher” which doesn’t make sense it the character’s name isn’t actually Kokomon, isn’t exactly good for brand name recognition since kids aren’t going to get that.

I know I didn’t as a kid for a year or two, ‘til I bought a Digimon Tamers toy that came with those sheets from Bandai that included images of all the current Digimon card art that numbered them Pokemon style, where I found out Kokomon was the character’s In-Training form and that the Champion form was Endigomon.

Also as I’ve seen one youtuber whose look at the movie has commented, having the character be referred to as Kokomon is kinda awkward when his facial design with the dark skin and big pink lips kinda looks a little like black-face/minstrel design - not to like Jynx level - but still…

I think it pertains to the difference in what Kokomon represents. The movie dramatically altered the very concept of what Kokomon is and what his relationship to Willis is.

In the original pair of OVAs, Wallace using the name Gummymon is an informative choice. Wallace is struggling to move on from the past.

The original OVAs get described as an "acid trip" sometimes and that's because it's one of those movies that is more symbolic than literal. A lot of what happens in the film has no literal meaning, no in-universe explanation for why this is the way this works. Characters have abilities and can do things that are never explained, because it's not the literal substance of their reality that drives the plot; It's the thematic meaning behind their actions.

So the movie has things like the Wendimon that Wallace knows as Chocomon suddenly appearing and haunting him because it's... it's the manifestation of his grief and his loss and his inability to move on from what happened that day, literally haunting him as a big scary wendigo monster.

One of my mutuals often uses the hashtag "grief is an ambush predator" which is a fire line. The Wendimon in this movie is that ambush predator.

And he calls them both Chocomon and Gummymon even though one is gone and the other isn't that Digimon anymore because he, Wallace, is unable to move on from that day. Unable to accept that time has passed and things have changed. He physically went to New York but he's stuck in Summer Memory, in the Town of Nostalgia. A prisoner of the cage his grief has built for him.

The movie dub basically stripped out all of the thematic subtext and meaning behind Wallace, and wrote more of an action piece. Willis made a very bad mistake and created a monster, and now that monster hunts him relentlessly and kills anyone he gets too close to. Willis and Kokomon are basically Wolverine and Sabertooth.

They don't really have a reason to use Gummymon's name for Terriermon over there. But... it's still weird that they stick with Kokomon. Did they just... not know what Wendimon/Endigomon's name was?

this is a naive question, but how are pokemon and digimon different and why are more people into pokemon?

Pokemon and Digimon are actually pretty different overall, the only real similarities between them is the suffix "mon" and that there are "monsters" that you become friends with and they fight

I can only give a little background on why Pokemon is more popular based on their beginnings (Pokemon just had the right recipe at the right time tbh)

Digimon started as a virtual pet series (like tamagotchis) where you raise and train them and they can fight whereas Pokemon started as a gameboy game and I'm going to assume you don't need a history lesson on that lol

Pokemon came out a little before Digimon but they were both in the late 90s

both of these franchises in turn got card games and anime adaptions the latter of which is where Digimon got more recognition (in the US at least)

Pokemon has a single solid premise that spans across all of its media, the rules of the video games, anime, and tcg all follow it. It also has a mainline series of games and Digimon does not. Digimon does not have one main type of media that all other facets of it follow. Each thing of Digimon is self contained with only a loose base premise.

So Pokemon is generally easier to get into (another reason for its popularity)

For the differences:

Pokemon is a world inhabited by little creatures who are just naturally a part of things Digimon is our world and the digital world as separate but overlapping realities

Digimon doesn't usually have teams of Digimon, it's typically one character with their main partner (there are exceptions, this is just the usual premise)

Digimon are more like people, they can talk and have their own societies etc., they are a reflection of the real world and the technology that makes it up.

Pokemon has an elemental attribute system for the strengths/weaknesses but Digimon is more a rock-paper-scissors thing (vaccine, data, virus). Digimon is also less rigid in it, so the rules can be "broken"

Digimon has evolutionary branches as opposed to a single line, there are also more stages and de-evolution.

Digimon don't really die (unless they do), their data gets recycled and they return to their egg forms to start over, but this usually comes with memory loss

The draw of Digimon is the anime (imo) with higher narrative focus and self contained stories. Each anime season is its own thing, save for sequel series but even then they focus on that season's cast.

There are Digimon video games but they all differ (arguably a detriment to its staying power) if you pick up a Pokemon game you know what you're getting into, you pick up a Digimon game and it could be anything from an rpg to a roster fighter.

Digimon are your friends and all have unique personalities, powers, and potential. They aren't pets+ like Pokemon, they are your partners and equals.

This felt very clinical but if you want more specifics I can go crazy

based on my digimon master online game, how would be like a 24 year old fem! tamer who found in her doorstep a cardboard box with 4 digieggs (wizardmon, terriermon, (fem!) lopmon (she is terriermon's younger twin sister) and meicoomon) and when they hatch as lil keemon, zerimon, kokomon, and a fluffier looking snow botamon with faint light markings (that sign that she is a meicoomon when she grows and evolve to her actual form);

and the lil keemon is the one who loves y/n a lot compared to the other 3 who like her too; with a timeskip of 2 years later with him now as a wiz giving her a flower before confessing his feelings for her and gladly she accepts his feelings.

It was a cold nice day, finally after 8 painfully long hours of working, since you gotta make a living somehow, you took office job and after it was finally over and since it was over, first thing you done was to watch TV, there way to many TV Series that have to be finished by you and to little time to sadly do it. After watching a couple series for some hours, you heard a sound from the door you went there, thinking what or who would do such thing this late at the day.

You have gone to your door and opended it and found.. a cardboard with some eggs in it? You were weirded out having never seen such eggs.. and big at that to, you first thought these were Ostrich eggs.. so you tried to cook them but they were to hard and couldnt break which frustrated you.

Sooo, like any person with the average IQ of -5, you used Google to try and find out what these eggs were or better say from which animal or organism they came. To your suprise, they werent any ordinary eggs.. these eggs were called Digieggs and after some throughout research you found out what will come out of these eggs, some Digimons named Botamon, Kokomon, Zerimon and Keemon, they were fictional characters from your childhood Show 20 years ago, you used to watch it so much but sadly have forgotten most of these times.

So you made sure to take them with you everywhere, as to make sure that when they hatch you can see it in a instant. After some further hours of waiting they hatched ! You saw and felt like a Mum VvV, seeing their kids being born, you were very happy :D

Now the funny part.. you dont know what they eat, nor what they can eat or not, they arent any organic organism but you decided milk and some meat should be ok for now.

You searched up their names and what they could "evolve" into, or as people would say "digievolve" into. Now you got a Keemon, small and friendly but sometimes somehow angry, how? I dont know, a Botamon, a chaotic little energy ball, a Kokomon very cute choco looking like digimon and lastly Zerimon, weird but also cute.

Now there was another small problem, you never had to take care of any kids, much less since you were a only child and pretty much got always what you wanted, you never had to do anything. Now that you were a fully responsible adult and moved away from your parents and took a job to pay rent and your living expsenes, you didnt know if you were able to take care of these little Digimon.

Sooo, you called your bestfriend over, he was at first not believing a single word you have said but the moment he was in with you.. He was fascinated, such cute little creatures? But then he asked for what reason did you actually call him.

"So... hehe, basicly if I would this alone, there be to much for me to work off... and I dont wanna be a single mum, and since we both are already bestfriends why dont you help ne :D Also these little kids need a dad."

"Wait wait wait wait- a dad? But why me!"

You mentaly slapped yourself and just gave him a unfazed stare.

"Who is a man, is my closet friend, can weirdly be a good dad, can help me and is always there for me :D"

He just sighned and.. even though to us its obvious and you being a blind person ( in terms of reading the room), he has feelings for you and taking care of them with you.

"You will be the mother?"

You just nodded VvV. "Then... eh.. should I adress you as honey then, infront of the kids?" At that point you just stared at him. Would that title suit you?... Yes, yes it would.You happily nodded.

"So we be parents then? :D" you asked, he just embarrasedly nodded and you jumped in the air, feeling all happy and friendly, atleast you wont be having to deal all this alone, you have someone by your side during all of this.He just smilled at you, how could you be so blind to his feelings but because of you.. he be doing this, out of love for you.

2 Years Timeskip~

After some years parenting, both you and B/f have come far, your small little kids that you named happily, Botamon, you named him after your Uncle, his name was Kai, and little Botamon gave some Ninjago Kai vibes off, and he always watched that show as he grew up.Kokomon, you named them Choc, because of his chocolate coulered self and his affinity to liking sweets that are always sided with chocolate flavor.Zerimon was named Lemon, he is coloured like a Lemon and loves Citrus fruits, noice which is why the both you of named him Lemon and he is the exact opposites of his sister Zerimon.Keemon was the weirdest of the bunch, he was like a clingy dog which is why ya named him Max, he wouldnt leave neither your or B/f sides, always calling you both Mum and Dad, which at times made you chuckle and B/f a blushing mess, yet as they digivoled all into their respective forms you couldnt help but smile at them and B/f and even thought it might have seemed as if you were oblivious to B/fs feelings, you werent, you also liked him but wanted just to tease him so much it also made you realise how thankful you were that he was by your side, supporting and helping you no matter what or without any complaints, so one day when it was late and the kids were sleeping, you invited him to the livingroom since before you both have sleeped seperately but now you wanted to be more then just friends, you took him to the livingroom and confessed to him.

When he heard those words from you "I like you more then a simple friend".. he cried, he was happy beyond any thing that could be scaled, this one was one of the hapiest day of his life, and yes finally after so long you are finally his. He took you by arms and hugged you, its safe to say that you both went to bed after that confession but didnt did the deed as you both were faithful followers of the lord, you saved yourself for day you both will marry.

But the both of you pray and hope that the lord will bless you both with more such happy moments , the moment that the both of you will spend together, as lovers and one flesh, just as the lord always had planned for the both of you.

Idk if you want to do it but, train twins get their digi eggs out of the computer. Either they both get a single egg with terriermon and lopmon or they get 2 separate with the tailmon. If they are separate then I imagine one getting it at home while the other at work and trying to hide it so the other doesn't get jealous, not knowing the other has an egg.

Ingo was not expecting to have an egg bleb out of his computer at the start of his early work day. Judging by the surprised squawk Emmet gave across the room from him, his twin wasn’t expecting it either. This wasn’t something that normally happened, but here they were.

Ingo ran his thumb over the pale egg, tracing the edge of a brownish splotch on the shell. Emmet flitted around him, jabbering in staggered, unfinished sentences that he couldn’t finish in his excitement. Ingo, too caught up in his own shock, hardly heard his brother, too busy cradling his little egg.

It was decently heavy, no doubt full of something, something living and breathing. It was nice and warm too, like a ball left in the sun. Ingo huddled the little thing closer to his chest, using his jacket to shield it from the AC winds.

“Perhaps it’s a Porygon.” He said, resting his cheek on the tapered tip.

“Ingo!” Emmet squawked again, fists lightly bopping on his head. “You are not listening! It is! Not! A Pokémon!”

“Not a Pokémon?” Ingo echoed. He twisted, smacking away Emmet’s fists. Emmet, with the new opening, reached to run his own hands over the egg, practically beaming. “What else would it be?”

“A Digimon!” Emmet yelled, best he could. He danced, swinging side to side, as he tapped his fingers to the egg’s shell. “A Digimon for us! Remember, Ingo? Digimon!”

“I heard you.” Ingo said, amused by how joyous Emmet was. But thinking about it, this was something to be extremely excited about. Ingo knew not of any other Digimon sighting, or plain existence outside of this moment he was sharing with Emmet. To think, a childhood wish could come true this way. “We can’t be sure, however-”

“I am sure!” Emmet swept egg up into his own hands, holding it up like something to be worshiped. It was Ingo’s turn to squawk as he immediately began to chastise his brother for being so reckless with something so fragile. “I wonder what Digimon we got. I want an Agumon! But I will need a Koromon first. We will battle well! I will train him-”

Ingo took the egg back, to Emmet’s displeased huff. Ignoring his twin, Ingo took his cap off, stuffing with his gloves and Emmet’s when passed them. With that on his desk, he tucked the egg into the makeshift nest.

Now that the egg was safe, he turned to Emmet with a snarl. “It is not yours! It came out of my computer!”

“You didn’t even know it was a Digimon!”

“That is irrelevant!”

“You neglected its identity!”

“Don’t you start that-!”

“Appa!”

The twins froze. Slowly, Ingo turned around, shocked to see the egg broken and a tiny green slime poking out of the broken shell. The little creature chirped and cooed, tail wagging. It easily leaped into the hands Ingo offered, snuggling against his skin.

Emmet, ignoring the tears rolling down Ingo’s cheeks, beelined to the other slime hidden into the shell. He peeked inside, and a little brown slime peered back at him. He beamed.

“Hello!” Emmet sang. The little beast perked up some. “Hello, Conomon!”

“Zerimon!” Ingo sobbed, rubbing his cheek to the twittering slime’s.

“Appa!”

Any argument laid forgotten in the face of two cute new friends.

AN EXCELLENT QUESTION ALLOW ME TO ANSWER.

Chayanne got the hyokomon like since it's a yellow chicken and training to be a warrior. They have similar motivations and personalities, I thought they would work together very well. I also considered giving him wormmon, but the reasoning was very loose so I decided otherwise.

Tallulah gets the gekomon line since they're musically based. I think the change from Otamamon to Gekomon parallels Tallulah's journey of love as well. I keep thinking about Tallulah in that attic holding onto Otamamon's egg, okay?

Dapper and Pomme's digimon don't really match with their personality or motivation or anything, but instead its more of a destiny thing! Lopmon and Terriermon always come together and so Dapper and Pomme are linked by fate. Its also one of those situations where it feels like Dapper should have Terriermon and Pomme have Lopmon, but it feels correct this way. Also. French Sniper. Gargomon has big guns.

Ramón got monimon because a little ninja TV that spies on people feels VERY fitting for that family. Monimon and Hagurumon are also very dumb on their own, but that wouldn't bother Ramón too much, I think. I also considered giving him the Kakkinmon line, since they are shield digimon, but I couldn't resist how cute Monimon was.

Leo got dogs. That's pretty much it. They struggle to get attached but once they do they are very attatched to their tamers, you know? Wolf. I also considered giving her Gabumon but I think her personality would overpower him too much.

Richarlyson got the Gomamon line purely because their mischief would line up PERFECTLY. Tell me Gomamon from Adventures WOULDN'T try to set up people on dates. I also thought about giving him Renamon but I.. don't quite remember why? Big protector? I guess?

For Pepito, its a Caprimon into a Gattsumon mostly because I couldn't find a preevolution for Gattsumon. I chose Gattsumon (because it's my favorite) because it feels very childlike, and very protective, and I think that's what Pepito needs. Gattsumon would color with Pepito. I can't explain it. I also considered Upamon and Armadillomon, since Upamon is a axolotl, but I couldn't resist my favorite rock baby.

Empanada got the Veemon line because I feel like their enthusiasm would align very well! They love to love and won't back down, you know? Also imagine Empa carrying Demiveemon like a stuffed animal. Exactly.

Sunny got Bowmon and Herissmon not only to match with Leo, but also because of how Herissmon avoids combat and runs/hides. And I think that it could keep our sunshine princess safe. I also thought about giving her Impmon, actually. Despite his demonic attitude, Impmon is actually such a sweet digimon to his trainers and also very lonely, which pairs with Sunny's feelings very well. Also, I imagine that Impmon's attempts at "warming up friends" wouldn't turn out so well and frankly would make things worse lmao. But I chose against Impmon for some reason. Weird.

Chunsik was a difficult one, I had a hard time finding anything for him. The bear was cute and protective and Chunsik is cute and tiny. Also, Wanyamon gets attached to people if they love him like an animal and. Chunsik is named after a cat, so. It was funny.

And finally Nacho. The Shaomon line is an artificial digimon that can't evolve past a certain point, gets attached very easily, and is very very loyal to their tamer. It fits very well. I also considered Pawn Chessmon (White) for obvious reasons, or Gammamon, for being a white dinosaur.

The Digimon Movie Muses : Muse Summaries.

This is just part one, as I want to get in depth for each of my muses. This is purely for the digimon that appear in the OVA and first movies, and I'll continue for the other Digimon when I have the time.

koro/koromon :

a digimon oc, based on the red greymon that appears in the first digimon movie/OVA.

she began life under the care of her original tamer, who had hatched her and raised her as a small koromon, then later, a small agumon. her tamer suffered an abusive relationship with her father.

having witnessed her tamer's ugly treatment, she eventually came to physically change into a large dragon-like dinosaur, known as greymon. koro is much larger than other greymons, purely fueled by the need to protect her tamer from her family.

however, from the sheer size of koro - where they lived collapsed on itself, and her tamer was crushed by the building alongside koro, who turned back into data.

later, in the digimon OVA, koro is reborn through the main characters' Hikari and Taichi's computer - coming out of the screen as a large egg.

koro did not remember her previous tamer's fate, and soon came to befriend them. they played, they had fun, and koro even got into a fight with their pet cat. however, as she evolved into a koromon, and later, an agumon, her memories slowly came back to her.

she soon fled the building where Taichi and Hikari lived, going through their city in a fit of confused and volatile rage, attacking whoever came in her way. she was angry, she was hurt - she missed her old tamer.

however, as a threat emerges in the form of a second egg appearing as parrotmon, koro is effectively brought back to who she was - a friend, to whoever had the generosity to care for her.

she fights the parrotmon, eventually being struck down and placed into a near-death state as greymon once more.

however, through taichi's call out to her through his sister's trusty whistle, she regains consciousness and kills the parrotmon trying so hard to kill her friends.

having used all her power, she disappears into data once more, returning to the digiworld as a lone greymon. hikari in particular calls out to her, as she is left to stay in the digital world alone.

cherubimon vice :

disclaimer: this interpretation is pure headcanon. in the movie the reason behind chocomon's disappearance is kept vague, but this is just how i've interpreted events.

the dark-digivolved form of chocomon in the movie hurricane touchdown, based solely on the 2024 redub.

chocomon was hatched by the young boy named wallace, being born as a twin digimon (his twin becoming the digimon known as gummymon, and later terriermon).

gummymon and chocomon were inseparable. they both loved wallace and wanted to have fun together, always. chocomon adored wallace, and he was so happy to be alongside him.

however, as wallace describes, chocomon disappeared one day. this was from an encounter with a virus that infected him, causing his emotions concerning wallace to contort and twist and corrupt.

from the effect of the virus, chocomon noticed every time wallace gave more attention to gummymon. he saw them as a team, that over time, he was becoming less and less of a part of.

as time passed and the virus grew within, chocomon grew envious of his twin and started to feel isolated within their small group.

so one day, he simply disappeared. separating from them to evolve into something much more corrupted. as wallace goes searching for him over the course of years, he finally finds him and gummymon, now a terriermon, immediately goes in to attack (thinking chocomon was going to attack wallace in turn).

as the meetings between wallace, terriermon, and chocomon become more frequent, he (chocomon) becomes more and more twisted in his line of thinking. he thinks if wallace is turned back into a child - the child who raised and loved him - that they will go back to normal and chocomon can be loved again. between meetings, he kidnaps the first group of teens and absorbs them into his body, robbing them of their age and turning them back to children.

and with every single one he captured, he looked at their face, hoping he'd finally absorbed wallace and turned him back into who he used to be.

but chocomon was lonely, and the more digimon that faced him and showed how much they loved their tamers, and their tamers in turn, loved them, he grew more angry and violent.

eventually evolving into andiramon and later cherubimon (vice), he remains in pain from his isolation. he just wanted to be loved, but from the birth of the virus within, he became more and more blind to it. cherubimon being the final evolution, with immense power, he stands against them completely and utterly alone - the reality being that said loneliness was a result of his actions, and not his virus.

terriermon :

the twin of chocomon/cherubimon in the movie hurricane touchdown, based solely on the 2024 redub.

gummymon was hatched by the young boy named wallace, being born as a twin digimon (his twin becoming the digimon known as chocomon, and later cherubimon).

Digimon Tamers - Episode 1

Dear God...the vibes are immaculate. THIS WAS SO GOOD! So cinematic! So atmospheric! What a fabulous pilot episode. I'm definitely hooked. I'm trying not to overhype this show because the internet has sung its praises to the high heavens and I don't want to be let down. Let's take it one episode at a time and see how it goes :) (so far, so good).

Notes:

-So many thoughts, so many questions. Firstly, I'm getting the vibe that this is a parallel universe to the worlds of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02. In those worlds digimon weren't a fictional concept (as far as I know) before they became real. In this world Takato knows digimon from video games and TCG before he meets one in person. Also. the world isn't aware that digimon are real, so this wouldn't be in the 02 world post-epilogue.

-A very small cast in this one! Only 3 kids (so far). I think this could be a very good thing. Tighter writing and more developed characters. These kids have barely said anything but they already feel more 3 dimensional than the 02 kids lol. Also, their designs are a lot more subdued which I think helps with the realistic feel.

-Culumon was...a little annoying, but cute at the same time. I love his retractable ears and that he asks a zillion questions like a toddler. Just wish he didn't say "culu" ever 2 seconds lol. He looks like a magical girl companion.

-We're still in Tokyo, Shinjuku this time around. Will we ever get a Digimon MC who's a country bumpkin? That could be fun.

-The gamer in me shudders at all of the new digimon that are about to be introduced. Good thing I'm not a "raise them all" kind of completionist.

-Digimon TCG anime debut! When they were like "Option card!" I was like "omg! I know that! I know the rules!" I wonder if the TCG will show up again or if they just used it to kickstart the plot?

-Takato's school DOESN'T have uniforms!? What kind of anime school is this!? (No seriously, I thought that was more of a rural school thing).

-I can relate to Takato designing his own digimon during class. I totally did that in elementary school too (with Pokemon as my inspo tho)

-I'm not in love with the new digivice design (a little bulky), but I like that it has a keychain strap. How practical!

-I'm not sure where Takato is getting the "tamers" vocab from. I don't think that would be referenced too much in the TCG, so he must be getting it from the video games.

-Love that Takato lives above his family's bakery. Give me ALL the anime food!

-I just googled this, but apparently the "guil" in "Guilmon" comes from "guilty." Didn't see that coming. I thought it might be Gila monster lol. Of course we get another stinkin' dinosaur-like digimon for the MC. Oh well. I guess that's what the little boys like. He's kinda cute, I suppose

-I don't know the main girl's name yet, but damn, what a badass! I feel like we haven't gotten this kind of female character yet. Closest would be maybe Hikari in her edgier moments, but she's more on the sweet side. I know that the furries like her partner digimon lol (Renamon, I believe?) To be honest, I'm not sold on her design yet. I think it's a little weird looking. Maybe she'll grow on me.

-When Guilmon's egg hatched I thought he died lol. I forgot that an egg cracked in half can be a good thing too.

-I was kind of giggling when they kept showing the scientists in their cyberpunk chairs and wearing VR headsets. Very 2000s sci-fi vibes (still looks cool, don't get me wrong). When they kept saying "wild one" I was just thinking "hey I heard you were a wild one oooooh~"

-When Jianliang's sister dropped Terriermon on his face I died lol. Why was that so funny? I'm so making a gif later...

-My guy (Takato) really saw a rat infested tunnel and just crawled right through it. I hope you have a good immune system because Jesus...

-The concept of Takato meeting a digimon and then immediately realizing "oh wait, a fire breathing dinosaur IRL is maybe not a good thing" was great. And of course they had to use it as a cliff hanger! I'm wondering if Guilmon will be able to speak or if he'll be more baby-like.

-Guilmon's existence raises many questions. I guess we technically already knew that people can create digimon, we've seen that happen. However, we haven't seen it happen so casually/easily. Does Takato have some sort of special power or can multiple people do this? Also, if Guilmon was born at child level, what happened to the previous 2 levels. Did Takato draw those in his notebook so they're just coded in there?

No one stops them either. The worst they'll do is set the kitchen on fire and make a bunch of mess with the eggs. That's not too crazy

How very wrong they were

The eggs - All at once, as Soldier was prepared to crack them - hatched and there was just a bunch of Baby Digimon everywhere

The mercenaries are all trying to catch these giggly and slippery little guys, maybe shooting at them along the way. It's very chaotic, paired with a lot of yelling and maybe comedically girlish screams

The only ones who are dealing with this calmly are probably Spy, Engineer, and Pyro. Spy and Engineer are mostly calm because the little guys aren't really hurting anyone, just being annoying by causing chaos. Pyro is calm because they like the Digimon a lot

No one knows what Digimon are because there's no media about it (googled to check if they would have come out when TF2 is set - They did not)

Pauling is contacted eventually to help. When she gets there, she is promptly jumped by all the babies, who use her as a shield to hide from the Mercs

Some are hanging out with Pyro instead, using their presence as a shield

Eventually, all of them are caught and things are settled. It's very difficult to keep it settled, but yeah. More help on the battlefield :D

Apparently, they were both a terriermon and a lopmon in one egg, and they were in perfect position via ying-yang, that they fused together

Digimon Survive Week: Day 4 - Supporting Characters

Winds of Change - Chapter 8: Winds of Change - Part Two

“Yes, you screwed up in the waterway. Yes, shit’s dire right now.” Dracmon tells Shuuji. “Yes, it’s true that everything I’ve learned from the past is screaming that we’re fucked, that Lopmon’s memories are as good as gone. But the past doesn’t dictate the future, and it certainly doesn’t take into account what you’re doing right now, or that every single thing you’ve done since the second this egg landed in your arms has been for Lopmon’s sake. The strength of that resolve could very well change his fate—just look how much it’s already changed you!”

The answers to Shuuji's questions are disheartening at best, and he feels worse than ever about what happened in the waterway. Thankfully, Dracmon is around to remind him that although he cannot change the past, he's more than capable of changing the future.

ok yeah maybe it's a stretch to spin the @surviveweek prompt "supporting characters" into "characters that are supportive (: " rather than "secondary characters", but i had been planning on doing this before The Dracmon Chapter was split into what is now chapters 7 and 8. I couldn't pick a (canon) secondary character i was interested in enough to dedicate art or fic to, and what i'd originally been planning for this prompt could also work for one of the others. i probably could have also used this chapter for the "future" prompt later this week, but i have other ideas for that one. so here we are!

i love the scenes scattered around the game where takuma is desperately trying to play charades with kunemon. he has no idea what that little guy is saying at all, and even if the player picks an answer that takuma seems confident in, we'll never really know! i think that's great. kew!

editing this chapter was pretty quick since i'd already gotten through most of it before i decided to split the dracmon section into to parts. that said, i did spend so much time rereading it that i ended up worrying that this chapter wasn't exciting enough. you know how it is. speaking of editing, i really cannot estimate when chapter 9 will be out. it's the last one, and when i gave it a once-over earlier i spotted a lot of things that i want to fine-tune. so we'll see! thank you for your patience - i hope getting two chapters in one week makes up for it a little.

i can elaborate on why i picked dracmon for this conversation though! in part5, it really stuck out to me that dracmon was the one to pull takuma aside to be like "hey you gotta keep an eye on shuuji , somethings fucked". im pretty sure he did it TWICE! there's also a point where kaito is watching shuuji freaking out in the waterway and asks dracmon smth to the effect of "isn't there something we can do?" and dracmon being like "not really no ): ", so it seems like the entire situation was weighing on both kaito and dracmon more than they made it seem. i thought it would be nice to give dracmon the chance to talk to shuuji after it was all said and done and see for himself that he's okay now. as for kaito…? well, we'll see. as for the lore, i'd already started using dracmon to explore the effects of repeated death and regeneration on the memory of digimon in ocean wave, so it was convenient to keep using the same character. also he's my favorite.

so full disclosure i did play a character (a terriermon named nova) in a digimon ttrpg that has a bad evolution and then loses his memories. nova's memory loss was probably a touch more intentional than lopmon's potential memory loss, and his bad evo wasn't a result of something his partner did , but a choice he made for himself. it's been a lot of fun exploring how it happens for lopmon, because it's the same flavor of angst as what happened with nova, but both the context and fallout are pretty different.

lastly, i really do think that if the waterway hadn't happened, kaito's trust issues, minoru's paranoia, and saki's fear would have eventually come up anyway. it manifested as mistrust toward their partners because of what happened with lopmon, but maybe in an alternate truthful part6 where wendimon doesn't happen, we get the library back and the Horrors are unleashed upon them there instead. would've LOVED to know what kaito's were, but i dont think it's ever touched upon other than kaito showing up to the kenzoku fight like "hey what the fuck was that." i know minoru definitely had a library scene but i dont remember what it was, but he was hiding under a desk for a bit??? and then i think saki mmmmight have one in harmony and in moral but i cannot for the life of me remember what they were. i digress.
