Spiel mir das Lied von Ennio Morricone
Tumblr media
Read the full article

MOVIE QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Look, the man's got one foot on a banana peel, the other on a roller skate. It'll all be gone in a couple of years. Who's gonna care that we acted perfect?”

"Toscanini once recorded a piece sixty five times. You know what he said when he finished?" "It could be better." "Think about it." The Tree of Life (2011) Directed by Terrence Malick Drama/Epic Starring : Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, Sean Penn This movie represents personal growth, strength, individual beauty and uniqueness. Just as the branches of a tree strengthen and grow upwards to the sky, we too grow stronger, striving for greater knowledge, wisdom and new experiences as we move through life. At the end of the movie, adult Jack(Sean Penn) wanders through a wasteland, goes through a doorway and ends up on a beach. There he shares the screen with his father(Brad Pitt) and Mrs. O'Brien(Jessica Chastain) concedes her son to the higher power. . . . #cinematography #cinema #cine #beautiful #cinematic #movie #film #filmmaking #filmphotography #bible #peace #family #love #filmstagram #moviescenes #moviequotes #filmmaker #cinematographer #terrencemalick #thetreeoflife #2011 #instagram #instadaily #instagood #photography #pic #photooftheday #picoftheday #movietime #netlfix (at Heaven) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMHQzgJFz4f/?igshid=1ecg7r9sxwd31

It took me a week to watch this movie and it wasn’t because it’s a 3-hour long commitment. One of the first Terrence Malick movies that I’ve seen, A Hidden Life is like a beautiful book, a journey so poetic that you have to stop after every page to take it all in.
I do not wish to waste my words on the whats and whos of the film because the essence of this story was not the events but the intention behind them.
It prompted a question that one must ask oneself: what is a man without his values?
This story is about a man who sacrifices everything to stand up for what he believes in, it’s an act of resistance against the evil (up for debate, sure) side of man.
Almost every dialogue required further philosophical meditations and told stories that went beyond the apparent. As I was watching the movie, I paused after every minute to write.  And I cannot stress enough how beautifully this movie has been shot. Wide-angles in natural light, it is all-encompassing, moving, breathtaking, honest, and intentionally uneasy sometimes.  Looking forward to watching this again after a few years.

A Hidden Life
I did not know the story of Franz Jägerstätter. He was a man who when faced with the evil of Hitler said “No” when everyone around him was saying “Yes”. What courage. This film is thought provoking, beautiful shot, and deeply sad. August Diehl was truly powerful in his performance. Thank you Terrence Malick for bringing this story to our attention.
