Current Music Obsessions: August 2019
And the long lists are back! Mainly because I started working on purging my watch later list, but that's not interesting information. So let's look at those honorable mentions.
Nodeisha - Dying Light Jess by the Lake - Under the Red Light Shine Necronomidol - Dawnslayer Banks - If We Were Made of Water Ra - Do You Call My Name Letterbomb A.D. - After Death Teodasia - Out of Time Heretic's Dream - Silent Forest POA (Plugs of Apocalypse) - Midnight Glasya - Glasya Oh Hiroshima - Moderate Spectre
The Offering - Failure (S.O.S.) Yohio - My Nocturnal Serenade Bent Knee - Catch Light Varaha - Climax & Exile Infected Rain - The Earth Mantra Arkan - Hayati Trail of Tears - A Fate Sealed in Red Burning Witches - Wings of Steel Odd Palace - The Unknown Ardours - Truths Constraint - The Big (B)End The Longing - Crosses Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Day We'll Be Gone Lindsay Schoolcraft - Lullaby
And now for the songs I truly obsessed over.
Aly & AJ - Star Maps
This song is so much fun. Hell the entire Sanctuary EP is fun. But there's something about this track that just exudes this fun, feel good energy that I really love. Also the video is stunning aesthetically and I love all the cameos.
Muna - Number One Fan
This is such a bop and a wonderful first single. It's a lot of fun and has a really positive message. Also the opening line is such a mood: Nobody likes me and I'm gonna die alone in my bedroom. Saves the World drops today and I'm so looking forward to listening to it.
The Agonist - In Vertigo
This is gonna be Vicky's Lullabies for the Dormant Mind just going off this single alone. It's so dramatic and intense and slightly chaotic. All the things I look forward to when listening to intense progressive metal bands. And I especially love the fact that we get to hear Vicky's mezzo-soprano voice in this track and I hope it shows up on more tracks on the upcoming album.
Maude Theberge - Funeral for Inner Ashes
I learned about this version of the song after really digging the original by her band Sanguine Glacialis. I high key prefer this over the original. It's so beautiful and sounds way more heartbreaking and suits it beautifully. It's also wild hearing a chamber version of an intense progressive gothic death metal track.
Last Performance - Allegiance to Fall
Learned about these guys from seeing their Facebook page pop up on me a good bit, so I decided to check them out. This is some dramatic and powerful symphonic metal right here. Their lead singer has such an intense vibrato that I absolutely adore. It's not as intense as Iliana of Enemy of Reality, but it's still intense nonetheless. I'm definitely gonna check out more from them.
Trail of Tears - Crashing Down
I decided to give A New Dimension of Might a listen and I had to stop after this song to help me resist the urge to instantly buy a copy of it. This track is so chaotic and dramatic. Catherine's voice is absolutely stunning on this track.
Spiritbox - Bleach Bath
Gurl. This track is so epic. I love how twisty it is from switching vibes. It starts out pretty intense, then gets pretty, then goes beast mode to close the song. And don't even get me started on Courtney's looks in this video. They ae EVERYTHING.
Starkill - The Real Enemy
The whole Gravity album is absolutely amazing, but there's something about this track that just really stands out. It's intense, it's chaotic, it's dramatic, it's beautiful. The choirs are probably my favorite part of it along with the orchestrations. This song makes me think of an alien invasion for some reason. I seriously want to do a vocal cover of it at some point.
And that's it for August. September is already starting to look like a great month, but we'll have to wait and see about that.

Current Music Obsessions: May 2019
Again, late on getting this posted. Work takes a lot of my time and also means these lists get shorter, which helps me out a bit lol. Anyways, here are the honorable mentions.
Cult of Eriyes - The Year All Light Collapsed Billie Eilish - Bury a Friend My Propane - A Dog is a Dog is a Dog Teodasia - Baby Baby Amygdala - I Hate to Say it Reborn - Reality Belzebubs - Cathedrals of Mourning The Veronicas - Think of Me Halestorm - Vicious Röyksopp & Robyn - Monument Lahmia - Her Frantic Call Heilung - Norupo Ankor - Ghosts Fleshgod Apocalypse - Carnivorous Lamb Eliza Red - Angel Wings Dying Passion - Tender Renown (live)
Battle Beast - Endless Summer Billie Eilish - You Should See Me in a Crown Ulver - Nemoralia Avem - Phantoms Mortal Love - My Shadow Self Be Under Arms - The Tsar Project Renegade - Pressure Kerli - Where the Dark Things Are Astray Valley - Hollow Varaha - The Midnight Oath This Gift is a Curse - Wolvking Lunar Path - Drag Me Down to Hell Allamedah - Gloria Antiga
Now for my main obsessions in May.
Banks - Gimme
This song goes in. It's full of so much energy and is just so much fun to jam to. I wish I had a good sound system to blast this on. It would make my jam sessions to it that much better.
Not Enough - Sinner
I love the atmospheric nature of this track. It's so mellow, but still packs a punch with those guitars and the metalcore style screams. And I just absolutely adore the cleans. The cleans are everything and so beautiful.
Emphasis - 70.1% Leviathans
I rekindled my love for this track out of nowhere because it was stuck in my head for a couple of days. It's such a beautiful track and is super proggy. And who can say no to saxophone solos in metal?
New Years Day - Come for Me
Ash's voice just keeps getting better and better. This track is so much fun and full of bombastic energy. The chorus is super catchy and that scream she lets out during the bridge is so epic. The bridge in general is epic.
Akphaezya - The Secret f Time
These guys are the closest we're ever going to get to having an avant-garde metal band as bizarre and epic like Unexpect. The genre shifts and the strange vocal lines are absolutely amazing. When it comes to this genre, the weirder the better in my opinion, and these guys are definitely weird.
Aly & AJ - Church
Who told them to make a song this iconic and amazing? I can't get over how epic and amazing this track is. I need to hurry up and listen to the Sanctuary EP, because they're icons now that need to be worshiped and praised.
And that's it for May. Maybe I'll be able to get June's out earlier than this and last month's lists, but I'm not getting my hopes up lol.

01. The Awakening 02. Codex Regius 03. Unleash The Fire 04. Incarcerate 05. Anomalous i: Illogical Era 06. Anomalous ii: Ghost of Asylum 07. Living by Proxy 08. Carve the Stone 09. Aftermath 10. Unanimous 11. Catharsis

Current Music Obsessions: October 17 - 31, 2018
Time to break out another long list! I've been purging my watch later playlist and doing a good job at it. But we're not gonna ramble on with that stuff, we're gonna ramble on about music. Starting out with the honorable mentions.
Mono - After You Comes the Flood Clouds - Forever and a Day Holy Shire - The Legendary Shepherds of the Forest Onsetcold - Los Angeles The Monster Inside - Numb Sylvaine - L'Appel Du Vide Mother Feather - Snakebite Haken - Puzzle Box Marina and the Diamonds - Froot Nego do Borel - Me Solta feat. DJ Rennan da Penha Amaranthe - Countdown Aliases - What's Left For Us? Winter in Eden - With Intent Lucrecia - Femto Solborn - Crestfallen Once - Distorted Smiles feat. Shir-Ran Yinon (violin) Alina Lesnik - Dark Waltz (Hayley Westenra cover) Empyrean Throne - Chaosborne Marcela Bovio - Scientist Elyose - La Veuve Noire Victorius - Razorblade Raptor Tasters - Please Destroy This World Arkentype - Ashes and Dirt
And now for the plenty main obsessions.
1. Arcane Roots - Before Me
This is such an interesting way to open an album. This is such an ambient track and reminds me of something by Sigur Ros for some reason. It's so beautiful and peaceful. I'm definitely am gonna listen to this album.
2. Nibiru - The Sorrow's Song
Spaceuntravel. The vibe of this song is what got me hooked on it. It has some metalcore vibes to it, but it's definitely more on the prog side in my opinion. The singer's voice is so raw and intense and compliments the instrumentals really well.
3. Persona - Invidia
This was one of the songs that really stood out to me on Metamorphosis. I'm also glad they chose to turn one of the songs in which their singer did some screams, because her screams are very impressive. The instrumentals on this track are so epic and chaotic. So much yes.
4. Beyond the Black - Scream for Me
The choirs. Those are what truly sold me on this track. Well, they're not like typical choir bits, but they're still choir-like. Anyways, this track is my second favorite off the album. It's so fun and packs so much energy.
5. We are the Catalyst - Predators
This is their latest single and I absolutely love it. I am obsessed with the singer's headdress in the video. It has a bit of a djenty vibe to it which I love, but it still holds true to their sound which sets them apart from other alternative metal bands.
6. Sound Storm - To the Stars
This is their newest song and features two new singers, one of which is Chiara Tricarico who was originally part of Temperance and was with Teodasia for a short time. I'm so glad to hear she's back to taking the lead in a band again, and this is such a great track to welcome her back to. She fucking killed it. And their new male singer, Andrea, is also a great fit and can unleash some monstrous growls. Definitely check this track out.
7. Once - The Sins of Saints
Holy tits. This is my favorite off After Earth. The album is absolutely amazing and I love how whimsical it is, but this track stands out so much. It's so dramatic and powerful. The choirs are everything. You also get a great feel for Alina's range here. I wish someone would post the lyrics online somewhere, because I need to do a vocal cover of this and soon.
8. Synlakross - Dark Seed
This is such a fun track from these guys. They're a female fronted melo-death metal band that I've known about for a while now. Their front woman has such a great voice and her growls and screams are absolutely insane. You can hear that insanity so well on this track.
9. Serenity in Murder - Infact Bellum
Found this track after rummaging through my abandoned first YouTube channel I had YEARS ago. They're a female fronted blackened symphonic death metal band from Japan that I'm happy to report that don't follow the typical mainstream J-metal formula and sound. The sound of this track is really fresh and is so great. I'm definitely am gonna check out more from them. But it is sad that their monstrous front woman has parted ways with them very recently.
10. Involvers - Ghost
Surprisingly enough, this is the last Spaceuntravel find this session. Anyways, this indie rock track has a post rock vibe to it that I adore. It's very ambient and such a great chill song. A super lovely track.
11. In Element - The Innocence
Randomly found these guys on YouTube one day and I really dig the singer's cleans. Their a melo-death metal band and I think I'll check more out from them in the future. This song has a bit of a prog vibe to it and is pretty atmospheric at times, which is really refreshing since it can be difficult to find melo-death tracks that don't sound like every other melo-death track out there.
12. Elyose - De Tout Là-haut
Reconnexion is a great album, and this song is the one that stood out the most to me. The electronic elements in the chorus are so cool and the vocalizing in the choruses are absolutely beautiful. It's such a wonderful track from such an epic band. I still can't get over that their tiny woman of a singer can pack such a powerful voice.
13. Amaranthe - 365
This quickly became an obsession for me. It's such a catchy track and instantly became a favorite off of Helix for me. It's such a fun track to just jam out to and to drive to. Hell, I think Helix in general is a great driving album. But this track just packs the perfect amount of energy for an Amaranthe single.
14. The Hardkiss - 00:00
This is the first song that I know I've heard off their new album and I absolutely adore it. You get such a great feel for Yulia's range on this track. It's so beautiful and just helps to further solidify these guys as my third favorite band of all time. I can't wait to finally get around to listening to the new album, because I just know it's gonna have many more amazing tracks like this one on it.
And that is it! There are probably gonna be more long lists next month, so prepare. But hey, longer lists mean more great music to check out and jam out to!
