Chapter 17: Flowers and Whisky

Chapter summary: Jamie comforts Claire after her revelations. Then they have cause to celebrate. 💐🥃

Claire woke up cradled in the heat of Jamie’s body folded around her like a cocoon; one she didn’t feel particularly ready to emerge from yet. A sliver of streetlight made its way through the thick hotel curtains and she snuggled impossibly closer to him, nuzzling into the space right below his collarbones where she could feel him breathe and the steady drum of his heart drowned out her own thoughts. Jamie’s hands flexed on her back and his leg hooked over her own. She smiled and tucked her leg further between his thighs, feeling his body react to hers even in his sleep. She ran her fingers over his brow and down his jaw before tracing his lips. When he suddenly nipped her thumb, she gasped and whisper-shouted “Jesus H Roosevelt Christ! I thought you were asleep.”
