After the construction and restoration of the temple was completed in the 1990s, regional stone artisans were unable to make a living due to lack of work. Realizing the plight of the artists, the then Maharaja created a society for them in Khiching. The artisans made a living by making clay from clay collected from the local area and selling it to the society. The society arranged for the sale of the statues. The state government set up a stone carving training center under the auspices of the society in the 19th century. Many artisans have been trained at home and abroad. The center has been closed since 2007 due to government indifference.
