Telly Cafe: TV actor Barun Sobti Gets Married! [17th December 2010]

Barun Sobti, the popular face of ‘Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ aired on Sony Entertainment Television tied the knot to the love of his life in a very private ceremony held on the 12th of December. According to reports in the media, only close friends and family members of Barun Sobti were present in the wedding ceremony. When quizzed by the media on his changing status so suddenly, Barun Sobti reveals that he is now a very happy man as he is now married to the love of his life. However, the television actor did not reveal the name of his bride citing reasons of conservatism!

The news of his marriage came as a surprise to many of his fans because at the age of 26 Barun Sobti has just started out on a career in Indian television with only two popular serials to his name. Given his good looks, the actor had already acquired a huge female fan following and he is now being blamed for breaking a million hearts!

It has also been heard that none of the unit members of his latest TV serial ‘Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ on which he is still working, had been invited to his marriage. When quizzed, Barun Sobti said that the director would allow only one among the cast members to take a leave and hence it had to be the groom who had to be present at his wedding! That means Ankita Sharma, his costar and onscreen wife in ‘Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’, who has also become a very good friend of Barun Sobti over the past few months, had to remain absent from the marriage celebrations.

Being a true professional, Barun Sobti worked on his television project even the day after his marriage. However he is off to Goa now to spend a few days honeymooning with his wife!

Telly Cafe: Barun Sobti of Baat Hamari Pakki Hain Gets Married [16th December 2010]

The light eyed boy got hitched on 12th December 2010 in a Gurudwara close to his home. The lucky girl is not from the industry but happens to be his childhood friend and love. As she belongs to a conservative family her identity has been kept under wraps till now.

Since Barun has been shooting day and night for his daily soap, he just got a day off for his wedding. According to a source, his family had a tough time putting all the functions in one day. Since the wedding was a close affair not many people from the industry were invited. Even the actors of Baat Hamari Pakki Hain could not join as day were busy shooting for the episodes.

Barun sounded very happy and elated when we called him to confirm the same. Both of them have left to Goa for their Honeymoon. Even after repeatedly asking Barun didn't disclose the identity of his better half.

Telly Cafe: Munna Badnaam Hua in Baat Hamari Pakki Hai! - Barun Sobti’s ‘Chaddi Dance’ [22 September 2010]

When asked, a source told TellyCafe.com, “Barun Sobti a.k.a Shravan of Sony TV’s “Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ will be performing on “Munni Badnaam Hui’ in tonight’s episode. It’s going to a comedy sequence where Shravan, who is arrested by the cops, will run away from jail while dancing on this song. As the song demands some skin show, Shravan will be seen in boxing shorts while doing the madcap routine.”

We confirmed the news with Barun Sobti himself, who laughed, “Yes, I have done a great Chaddi Dance which is spectacular. I have really enjoyed doing all the crazy steps for the song. Hope the audience likes the sequence, especially the Munna from the song.”

This is going to be one of the most hilarious acts not only in the show, but also in Television. So don’t forget to watch the odd munni of small screen…. Err… Munna of small screen!

Telly Cafe: Cintaa’s rule makes TV actors happy [8 September 2010]

(Recently, CINTAA (Cine and TV stars Association) has passed a rule for not exceeding more than 12 hours of working for any unit member that also includes actors of the television shows and Bollywood films. And the change is noticed in most of the daily soap actors as they are feeling good for not working more than 12 hours per day.

We contacted a few of them to know about their stance and they felt quite relaxed after listening to the rule passed.

We also contacted Barun Sobti a.k.a Shravan of “Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ who was heard recently working for 32 hours continuously and he was also sounding fairly happy after the implementation of this rule passed. But on other hand, the actor said the million dollar words. “I am happy to hear that there would be no more extra work loads on actors and other unit members. The rules are also implemented with our show but the talks of the producers are still going on with the CINTAA people to make some amendments. Because sometimes it become necessary to work for more than 12 hours a day. After all, at least for actors the profession is by choice and not by chance,” explains Barun.

Barun further says, “But anyone would like to spend time with family, so that would be a treat for us if this rule continues.”

Telly Cafe: Barun Sobti's frantic but endearing b'day [27 August 2010]

Barun Sobti a.k.a Shravan of "Baat Hamari Pakki Hai" turned one year older on 21st of August. When TellyCafe contacted him, he was quite excited to inform us about his birthday as on his birthday we tried calling him but, he was quite busy and could not receive our call. But clearing the reality Barun says, "I was totally packed on Saturday as I was shooting till 3:00 am and as it was my birthday, I just rushed at my place, took shower and was back again at 7:00am to shoot which continued till evening." Adding to it, he further says, "So I was left with no time to receive any one's wishes. Again in the evening, I had planned to go out with my friends. So I just completed my work and left early on the day without wasting time." It seems it was damn hectic birthday for you Barun. Along with his friends he also celebrated his special day with the whole unit of 'Baat Hamari'... "On Friday night, I cut the cake on the set and the most special thing was when I personally gave the cake to the entire unit members myself. That was the moment which was very endearing for me," adds Barun. So what all gifts did you receive on your birthday? "Well, that was something funny as I am a movie buff, all my friends ended up giving me CDs of various movies. But gifts are really not important because I think being together on such special events is something called a real gift." Sobti informed us with full gratitude. But when asked for his wish list, he says, "I don't want to wish anything but just want to say that God should keep us going without any hurdles." Well! All we can say here is Belated Happy Birthday Barun.

Everyone has a limit to their level of tolerance. Sometimes situation turns so bad that we lose control over temper and burst out even in public places. TellyCafe asked your favorite tele stars about their moments of grave annoyance which made them go crazy to the extent that along with verbal arguments, they also got entangled into bitter fights. And we were amazed to know about their replies. Here we go with what they had said:

Barun Sobti Oh my god, there are so many incidents that prove that I am a spoilt brat.  I get angry very easily and then I cannot control my temper. Since childhood, I had many incidents in which I had fights on roads and once I had slapped a police guy mistakenly. Recently, I went to a party along with my friends. In our group there was a guy who had flown down to India from America. There was a gang of boys in the hotel, who were continually teasing that boy.  We tried to ignore them at first. But as we were leaving the place, one boy from that gang came up to us in a drunken condition and uttered profanity and some rude words against my friend. That was the limit. I and my friends went to the group and beat them up black and blue.

Barun Sobti is the name who got recognition and popularity after portraying the character Shravan in Sony TV's 'Baat Hamari Pakki Hai'. The guy has reached a point where he has a good fan following. On popular demand TellyCafe has brought his exclusive interview where he shares his views about acting, stardom, hard work, and fans.

How is Barun in real life different from Shravan?

Barun is responsible, hardworking guy; he is pretty much focused and not confused. As I have worked in this industry I know how to manage things over here. I love to be happy and can be irresponsible sometimes. Not irresponsible actually but lazy. And what to say about Shravan, audience knows much better than me. Everyone knows how he is. Right!

How is the experience of essaying Shravan?

It's fantastic. The way the character has been conceived and written is just amazing. I love the way the character has evolved. The way he reacts in every situation is incredible. I think that is why the audience likes him so much. Viewers basically like the on-screen role which is essayed by the actor. They like the chemistry and the way actors are presented through their characters.

Viewers often say that Saachi (Ankita Sharma) of the show does not match up to you. What is your take on it?

Ankita is a fantastic actor and good looking too. The way she has essayed the role of Saachi is just outstanding. She has done true justice to the role. Beyond that I can't say anything because I think we are in no way different in our acting and performing skills. It may be the perception of the audience that they don't see us at par with each other.

Your character gets lots of sympathy from the audience. What do you have to say to it?

Shravan is the hero of the show and that's why he gets sympathy and support of the audience. I accept their sympathy as I think that my acting has impressed them and they are giving me their response. Whatever is the response of the audience to my acting - sympathy, anger, rudeness or anything else - I accept it completely.

Any crazy incidence you came across with a fan?

I hardly get time to go out and meet people but once I came across such an incident. I was busy shooting for a show. A fan named Tara came to meet me and I gave her my executive production man's number so that if necessary she could contact me. But she irked the production personnel with her incessant calls and request to speak with me. I was really very busy with my shoot and could not take up any of her calls. That was the only incident which I have come across so far.

How do you take your stardom?

I don't think I am a star till now. I stay away from the word stardom and believe that I am a normal person. I have learned from my parents to be down to earth. I have to go a long way from where I am now.

How was working with 'Baat Hamari Pakki...' team?

It is great to be with the team. I would like to share an incident about the team. Once my friend named Vishal from Delhi had come down to Mumbai at my place. That time I was very busy with the shooting and couldn't give him company. I asked him to visit the set once. He came and got along very well with my co-actors. And while returning, he was not in the mood to leave the set. So from this incident you can make out how great it is to work with the 'Baat Hamari...' team.

Do you find any difficulty while shooting or anything related to the show?

No such difficulty yet. However, sometimes we have to shoot for long hours at a stretch that affects the health. We sometimes work for 22 hours at a stretch. The schedule can extend to even 30 hours for some special episodes.

I don't believe in the term 'fans'. According to me they are very sensible people and I would like to thank those intelligent people for watching me. Thank you very much.

Telly Cafe: Game Hamara Pakka Hai [9 July 2010]

Working in daily soap is a very difficult task as the cast has to stay on the sets for long hours. Sets become second home and the co-actors become family members, even if they don't want to. The actors sometimes get free time and mostly they get into their respective rooms and take rest. But there are a few shows where free time is used for some amusement activities. And one such show is Sony TV's 'Baat Hamari Pakki Hai'. A source says, "When the cast gets free time, they indulge in playing dumb charades and some of the actors also bring UNO cards to play with. Not only some actors but also all the members of unit indulge in such activities. Even though such occasions are very limited but when they get into it they enjoy it to the hilt". We called Barun Sobti, the lead of the show, who laughingly says, "Yes, we do such activities whenever we get free time from our work. As working continuously on the sets becomes boring and tedious, whenever time permits all the cast get together and have fun. Even when there is no activity we create some and have fun out of it". Well, that's a great idea to relieve oneself from the hectic schedules of dailies.

Telly Cafe: Contract Wedding for Barun-Ankita On Baat Hamari Pakki Hai? [2 June 2010]

The initial plot of Sony's Baat Hamari Pakki comes across as another mundane story of a guy and girl opting for an arranged marriage. However, there's more to this story than what meets the eye.

Shravan (Barun Sobti) and Saachi (Ankita Sharma) will get married but on certain terms. According to sources, Shravan is already seeing another girl but her girlfriend isn't too keen on an early marriage. Our boy doesn't have the courage to inform his family about her either. His family is pressuring him to get married and its ditto for Saachi too. The duo strikes a deal wherein they decide to marry and divorce each other after a year. Shravan's girlfriend will come into the picture later. Lead actor Barun Sobti too claimed ignorance about the ensuing storyline, "I have absolutely no idea about the future track." A source closely associated with the show informs, "A parallel lead will be introduced in the show. Auditions for this girl are on but she's expected to join in later. There's a story attached to this character which can't be revealed now."

Sony TV is going to launch D.J’s next venture “Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ on 31st March with lead actors Barun Sobti and Ankita Sharma. The lead pair will be seen shaking their legs to promote their show on the stage of “Boogie Woogie’ this week.

A source reveals to TellyCafe, “Barun Sobti and Ankita Sharma will mark their presence on the stage of “Boogie Woogie’ and are going to shake their legs on the lovey-dovey number, “Khuda Jaane…”

Barun and Ankita will show up in Sony TV’s dance based reality show “Boogie Woogie’ just to promote their upcoming serial on Sony TV. The story of the serial revolves around a couple, who are very different from each other. They fall in love and later tie the knot. As the show is based on romantic drama the lead pair is going to perform on a duet romantic song.

The source adds, “The shooting will be done today and the episode will be telecast next Saturday as “Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ will start airing from next Monday. The channel planned to promote the show through “Boogie Woogie’ to give an idea of the show to the audience.”

Barun said, “Yes, we will be seen on “Boogie Woogie’ for the promotion of our show and will shake legs on the dance floor.”

Television actor Barun Sobti, who was last seen in Star One’s Dill Mill Gayye but had quit the show as he bagged a lead role in D.J’s Toh Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, seemed very dejected in a recent conversation with TellyCafe.com - the issue being his own christened name.

Says Barun, “I am really pissed off as my name is spelled wrong everywhere. I don’t want to name the organizations but they spell it incorrectly. Most of the times it’s spelt as Varun Sobti or at times it’s Baron and what not. So let me clear one thing that my name is Barun Sobti and not the other versions.”

“Any person in this industry wants to carve a niche for his name but here my name itself is spelled fallaciously which is very annoying. So it’s my humble request to spell my name correct,” signs off Barun.

Barun Sobti who was last seen in the most popular lovey-dovey show on Star One, “Dill Mill Gayye’, will be soon spotted in DJ’s next on Sony TV.

A reliable source informs, “Barun Sobti has been confirmed to play the lead role in DJ’s new untitled show on Sony TV. He will be seen as the protagonist paired opposite Ankita Sharma, who is currently playing Ratna’s character in Swastik Productions’ “Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo’.”

“Barun will be essaying the character of a “Cool Young Guy’ and the shoot for the serial will start in the first week of April. The pre-production work is going on full speed ahead and the production house will is proud to be working on a completely new story line,” concludes the source.

Ekta Kapoor's upcoming venture 'Keshav Pandit' which will be a weekly show on Zee TV is in search of its lead cast. The show replicates a novel written by Ved Prakash Sharma and its concept is all about the character in the novel named 'Keshav Pandit'.

Our reliable source informs, "The casting of the show is gearing its speed day by day. Even though the channel has approached Shabbir Ahluwalia to play the lead but in fact the channel is in search of a fresh new face to essay the lead role. Thus, Barun Sobti who was last seen in 'Shraddha' on Star Plus is tipped for the role.

On enquiring Baron, he says, "Yes, I am approached for the role but still the things are to be worked out. The show is in a pre-production level, so, I can't reveal much. I can just say that 'Keshav Pandit' is an Indian version of 'Robbin Hood'."

Shraddha, the daily soap which airs on Star Plus will soon experience its new twist. The new entrant in the show will turn the life of protagonist upside down leaving his lady love in a shattered situation.

Our close source from the sets informs, “The recent track of Shraddha is concentrating on the new entry of the show i.e. Baron Sobti who will essay a role of a guy opposite to the protagonist Shraddha (Neha Janpandit) and will cheat her by falling in love with her and the story track will move further with more twist.”

“The love story will bloom at a moment but in the last Shraddha will be left cheated by him as he becomes successful in his motive. He will take all the wealth of hers leaving her distorted,” adds the source.

Thus we called up Baron Sobti and he replied, “I cannot reveal anything about my role right now as I have been restricted to do so. But yes, this is for the first time I am essaying any role for the television.”
